Baseball is playing off against the Ashland Eagles on this afternoon.
This is the second baseball game of a double header.
The previous game, they played Ashlyn, and Ashland won six to four,
and now they're at another one.
Oh, and I'm Eleanor Whitaker.
I'm Gabe Thiemann.
Thank you for being here with us today.
Yeah, today, Chargers taken on Ashland for the third time since last night.
So far, the Chargers, as of their win last night, have clinched a spot in the GMAC conference playoffs.
Now this game will decide future seating for that tournament.
And our pitcher right now is Kerry, Beston Carey, and he's warming up.
The Hillsdale's on the field and Ashland.
is up to bat and uh looks at the first batter up is crook shan krockenberg
i'm gonna tie hound again 29 sean frugal and they step up
Sean krekenberg with a three six two batting average carry and ball outside
started in 36 games played 40 so far this year carry and that's strike
Ashley won't
Half swing looks like it's a ball though
He almost goes for it
It made another perfect playing the outfield
Oh and it's pop up and that's a foul over the head
All gets returned.
That's two balls, two strikes.
There you go.
And, oh, and Prickenberg swings.
But it might have tipped off the bat.
That was probably a foul.
So he, Rick and Bird gets another chance.
Two balls, two strikes.
Bing and, oh, another foul pop up, hits the net towards the fans.
Kerry Gibson, our Gibson Kerry's starting this game.
He has an erred run average, 3-5-4 in the year.
Three-and-three records this year's a starter.
It's 40.2 innings pitch so far as of 10.
today.
Oh, and that's out to the left field, and it hits the ground.
Krokenberg runs around to second.
It makes the second, slides into second, and stays at second.
Krokenberg is on second.
Krokenberg, one of their best batters this year, second only to Max Carson, Max Karon.
Next up, we have Gavin Dobbles.
Number seven, Gavin Dobbles.
261 average.
Number seven, Gavin Dobbles.
36 games started, 40 play total.
No.
Swing and that's a ball.
Low.
We'll see if Huckabberg tries to see.
Chuckabberg tries to steal
and oh
that's strike
one ball, one strike
oh and
there's stopped
we have
Dobbles is on first
Crookinberg is on third
Tricky situation.
Forces at second base, but they're going to start watching home.
Hillsdale defense needs to make sure they're watching these balls.
Dobles, one of the guys you've got to look out for if you're Tanuta.
Next up we have Karen, number eight.
Oh, hit out to right field again.
And that's caught by the right fielder.
Oh, but Krokenberg goes into home and touches the first place.
It's thrown in.
It seemed like Krikenberg wasn't going to go into home for a minute, but he did.
And so Ashland scores one.
1-0, Ashland, at the top of the first inning.
Next up, we have Sam Witt.
With Sam.
Oh, and that's ground ball right to the pitcher.
Dobbles goes the second.
Hought.
Went past the pitcher a little bit.
Pitcher seemed to fumble a little bit, but it was driven right to the pitcher.
Now there's a man on second and third.
Next up, we have Overhalt.
Callan Overholt.
Callin Overholt.
Number two.
309 average and 33 RBI's leading his team tied with Jeremiah Kangalosi
That's his ball
Call the ball looks kind of like a strike
Carrie looking back Dobles 8 of 10 on stolen bases this year
One of the fastest guys on Ashland
Oh
Caring throws and that's another ball two balls no strikes
And one out
There goes. That's another ball.
So close. He's trying to make him swing.
But, yes.
Go, two.
Oh, that's another ball.
And overhauled walks.
Now the bases are loaded.
There's only one out
And next up is
Number 26 Jeremiah Cangelos.
A lefty
Looks like.
Lefty with 2-98 batting average
33 RBIs on the year.
Three home runs.
I got to be careful about this.
Oh, that was really wide.
That was a ball.
That was out of here.
He probably wants him to hit a ball
right to one of the fielders. The fielders
can get it out and then also touch one
their bases and get two outs and one.
That would be ideal here.
And oh,
carry throws and that's another
ball. They look
so close to the strike zone, but they're just
balls.
Kangalost has two balls,
no strikes. Oh, Kangalos
swing, or kind of half swings.
What is the ump going to call us?
That's a strike.
That's a strike. Two balls, one strike.
One out.
One out. And carry out. Oh, that's a high, high ball.
Three balls and one strike. He really doesn't want to walk this guy. He should be better to have to have the guy hit it.
and throw it to one of the fielders so we can try to get some outs.
Oh, and throws.
Oh, and Kangalaw swings.
That's two strikes, three balls, full count, one out.
See if he can strike him out.
He needs to strike this guy.
And, oh, that's two outs.
Well done on Kerry's part.
He got the strike.
right when he needed one.
Now he just needs to strike out this other guy.
But it's a little easier now if the batter hits a pop fly,
one of the fields can catch it.
I'll be three outs in the ending over,
but he does not want to walk him.
Oh, who's this guy?
This is, Weaver hits a foul ball off to the right.
So that's one strike, two outs.
Ashland has one,
and we're at the top of the first end.
and all the bases are loaded.
And throw, oh, another foul ball off to the right.
Weaver.
Weaver is just giving him the two strikes he needs.
Weaver's a 353 average, just threatened.
Leaving three runners on base, he strikes out now.
Terry winds up.
Throws, oh, ball on the outside.
On the outside.
Ashley, looking to score point.
carries throws oh weaver hits another foul ball off to the right weaver wants to hit a grand slam today
oh the team team huddles for a talk discussing how they want to go about this game
it's the top of the inning and they already have all the bases loaded not looking super great
for Hillsdale at the moment.
They need to work on their defense.
It seemed like in the other game, the defense wasn't looking so great.
So hopefully they have a new game, new mindset.
Do well on this one.
We'll see what they do.
Slemaer number 12.
Shlin is going to go to the conference, but this game is for a stand.
Carry throws.
Oh, and Sweaver throw.
It's another foul ball off to the right.
Way out of the stadium.
He's not hitting the ball right on.
No, Carrie give him a good battle in the first inning.
This can either blow up in a big way for Ashland
or the Hillsdale can escape.
Only one run scored.
Yeah.
So close.
Oh, he throws, oh, again, it's a ground ball.
Off to the shortstop.
Shirt stop throws it to the second basement.
That's an out.
That is the end of the top of the first inning.

Right now we have Tenuta, who's up to bat.
And he just struck out.
The Ashland pitcher is Leishman, number 22.
He's up, and he struck out Hillsill's first batterer,
so it's not looking good at the bottom of the first inning.

Kent's having a breakout final season with a 340 batting average,
20 extra base hits.

Bottom of the first inning.
Oh, Kent hits it to the first basement, first baseman fumbles.
Oh, the second baseman fumbles, and Kent makes it to first.
The ball went to the first basement, and it kind of just leaped out of his hand into the second basement,
and the second baseman dropped it.
So Ken's by Ashley.
Yeah, three errors and two plays.
I mean, uncharacteristic of the team in the first place in the GMACS,
no, 34-13 record.
Now, name.
We have Will Lehman number 33.
Oh, he hits it off to the left.
That's a foul ball.
Layman, one of the three freshmen contributing a lot to the charges this season,
along with Rocco Tanuta and Tyler Sowers.
Check that guard, Swenson.
Fleischman throws an outside ball.

Augie Hutchinson up to bat.
So that's two outs with Lehman on first, one man on first.

Ashland coming in for a team talk.
Discussing what to do next.
Ashland took a hold, seized lead of the GMAC.
after a series win over Northwood last week.
But Hillsdale could threaten that one seed
if they knock enough games off Ashin with Northwood
performs well enough with their matchup this weekend too.
Ashen could lose the one seed in the tournament.
Pratsky with a 259 batting average,
16 RBIs.

Hillsdale scores that's three runs I believe.
Yes, three RBIs for sophomore up to bat.
Another sophomore infielder, Tyler Turner.
He throws Tyler with another drive out to center field all the way back.
Tyler slides into second and stays.
Excellent double.
A double from the Division I transfer of Monmouth University.
From Virginia, Pontenac, Virginia, off the river.
Now to imagine the charges.
Great spark at the end of this line.
Yeah.
Turner brought in J-Sec to home base.

Americans think of Mark Zuckerberg's meta.
They think of Instagram and Facebook and maybe threads.
Its chat platform WhatsApp has not been as quickly adopted as it has in Europe, Asia, and Africa,
mostly because U.S. phone networks include free texting in one way or another.
WhatsApp often seems unnecessary unless you had contacts outside the U.S. who rely on it.
But the app's other features, such as broadcasts,
channels and status updates have grown in popularity
as they allow a mass dissemination of messages to large or multiple large groups.
And that has led to spam complaints.
Now, according to TechCrunch, Meta says they will be testing limits on WhatsApp broadcast messages
in the coming months in hopes of curbing the spam problem.
Even WhatsApp business accounts may see limits,
though Meta is planning on a new paid tier for business accounts
that will include features aimed at helping merchants do their marketing.

Where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds out of time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're looking at globular clusters.
Globular clusters are some of the oldest objects in the night sky,
almost as old as the universe itself.
Unlike younger, looser-bound open clusters,
like the double cluster and the pleities,
globular clusters are tight spheres of sometimes millions of older,
gravitationally-bound stars.
More than 160 orbit our Milky Way galaxy in a distant halo around its center,
while tens of thousands more reside in other galaxies and even wander between them.
To see these spectacular objects from the northern hemisphere, you'll need optical aid,
a good pair of binoculars, a telescope, or a visit to a local star party or observatory.
In springtime skies, look for M13, the Great Hercules cluster and M3,
both dazzling globulars containing hundreds of thousands of ancient stars.
That's your Astro Minute.

you let this other guy get a home run.
That's not looking good.
That could be the coach out there, too.
I wonder if they will switch out, carry,
or let them stay in a little bit longer.
It looks like there's a pitcher warming up
in the bullpen for Hillsdale as well for whenever.

Hello, I'm Ariel McDowell here with a word to the wise. I recently learned that the human brain burns around 300 to 500 calories a day.
And while I always knew the brain is one of our most important organs, this gave me new perspective.
Because I thought about what exactly is burning the calories?
Well, calories are being burned because the brain is busy creating new neural pathways and using old ones,
the same way that exercise burns calories by training your muscles.
And the way you expend this energy has a radical impact on how healthy your brain is.
How would you feel if you spent hours a day training your leg muscles to the point of exhaustion,
but in such a way that you acquired a crippling limp.
That's essentially what we do to our brains when we expend loads of energy
with online activities that require no attention span.
It's exhausting for the brain and a lot of hard work,
but it only takes you backwards.
Remember, your brain needs healthy habits as much as your body does.
This has been a word to the wise on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.

Oh, and welcome back to Chargers baseball. We're back with Hillsdale and Ashland. It's the second game of double header, but this game's going better than the first one did.

It's a second inning pitching.

Hillsdale winning this game, hopefully puts them in the third seed of the North Conference
playoffs, North Division Conference playoffs, and helps them hopefully avoid Ashland in the first round.
They play Northwood instead.
A loss here almost guarantees they play Ashton again.
Oh, it throws a strike.
Up for Ashland, we have this number.
Can't see his number at the moment.
I will admit it.
But Palo Froves, that's a ball.
Come on, Cam.
I want to say it's 15 Cam Miller.

Miller to first, but that was probably a foul.

Krockenberg with a foul
off to the left again.
They just have to get one more out.
Definitely don't.
They lead by two,
so they don't have to be quite as worried
at the moment of losing their lead.
But if they can make it to the next inning
without another lead,
they'll be in a good shape to win this game.
Hollow with it.
And Crockinberg with the drive out to right field
and the left field catches it.
That's an out. Nice job.
By Hillsdale.
Ashland got no runs at the top of the sixth inning.

This is The Making of America
from the Jefferson Media Group.
On August 18th, 1920, a woman's right to vote became constitutional law,
but the battle for those rights actually began back in 1878 when Aaron Sargent,
a California Republican senator, first proposed the legislation.
In 1920, 36 states were needed to ratify the legislation,
but the battle for confirmation proved to be long and bitter
with Southern Democrats blocking passage whenever and wherever
possible. With time running out, Tennessee became the 36th state to grant women's suffrage,
and in doing so, it became the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

They're left-handed freshman from Medina, Ohio.
And up to bat, we have number 18.
Billy Paraski.
He's been doing a good job this game.

Oh, we're back.
We are to Hillsdale Chargers at Ashland.
This has been fun announcing this baseball game.
This is something new for me, Eleanor.
I've never announced a baseball game before, but this is fun to watch the action go down.
We have Jacob Palo is pitching, and first up we have from Ashland.
We're back to number seven.
We have, that's Dobbles back.
Gavin Dobble is one of the faster guys on this team.
Palo's got to be careful because all.
only needs is something on the ground. He can get on base.

One ball, two strikes, no outs.
Powell off to a strong start at the top of the seventh inning.

One ball, two strikes, no outs. Ashland, this is their chance.
They got to get some hits to secure their lead.
Hillsdale leads five to three.
Ashton wants two or more runs.
Double strikes out.
Well done.
Millsdale.
Millsdale, two outs away from securing this victory,
winning the final series of the regular season.
Because, no, this is the second game of double header.
We're going to seven innings.
Next up for Ashland is number eight.
Karen.
Powell throws a ball.
Oh, strike.
That was an outside.
Strike. Nice drop. Solid strike. One out. One strike. On max Karen.
Game two. All right. Karen, drive out to right field goes right past the short stop.
Hilsa keeps Max at first, but was not able to get it into the infield fast enough to get him out.
Karen, the ground ball went right pass in shortstop, and the left fielder grabbed it.
Next up for Ashland, we have number five, Sam Witt, and he hits a foul ball off to the right.
with a 3-3-7 batting average.
Powell throws it.
There's a strike, solid strike.
Powell's been good at throwing those strikes that look like balls.
But the ump calls on strikes.
No balls, two strikes, one out.
Ashland has a guy on first.
Powell throws, and that's a ball.
One ball, two strikes, one out.
Sam Witt up to that.
Witt with a pop fly out to the right field.
The right fieler catches it.
That's one out.
That's total of two outs.
Sam Witt is out.
Ashland still has a guy on first.
He ran but made it back to his base at time.
Two outs.
Palo and the Chargers, one out away from victory.
So throws it, and there's a strike.
One strike.
Powell throws it and overhauled with a pop out to center field.
Everyone's running, but center fielder's ready for it.
That's three outs.
Chargers
Their game against Aschlin
They win 5 to 3
Well done by Hillsdale
They had a great pitcher
lineup this game
Joseph Jacob Palo came in
And threw some amazing strikes
Did a really great job of striking out
Ashland and stopping them from getting any more runs
Yeah what a great win
Taking the lead in the series 2 to 1
This is the kind of momentum you need to end the year going into the competition tournament.
Things are looking bright for the Chargers.
Yeah, this probably feels good after losing their first game to Ashland, 6 to 4,
and then their second double-header game.
They beat them 5 to 3 showing that they're a good competition against Ashland.
I believe they have some other games up against Ashland coming up.
Yeah, knocking out of the powerhouse team too,
showing they compete with anyone in the G-Lisd.
MET conference, playoffs coming up.
Thank you for listening.
