The following is a special presentation of WRFH Sports.
Partners Field here at Lenda and Glenda Hills Stadium.

rival Northwood starting on Friday and Saturday and leading into the Easter holiday.
I'm here with my partner Reed Shoemaker.
Reid, how are you doing today?
Doing pretty good.
Looking forward to some good baseball today.
Two pretty good offenses as Davenport comes in as the second race ranked offense in the Gliac.
A couple guys at the top of their lineup really hitting the baseball well.
And for your Hillsdale Chargers, we also are looking to score some runs today.
High-powered offense should be a good matchup.
The, uh, interested to see here today, um, how these pitchers handle, um,

Welcome back to TFO Partners Field here at Lenda and Glenda Hills Stadium.
They're just lighting up the lights.
It's a slightly overcast day here.
And here we go.
We got number four.
Sam Clay for the Panthers up at bed.
Dangerous hitter. He's sitting 316 on the season.
Started all 30 games for the Panthers so far.
Diggs into the right-handed batters box.
That is a ball for the first pitch for Drew Law.
He's pitched from the stretch today.
Gathers.
Swing and a miss.
Strike one.
Count is now one-in-one.
Great location on that one.
Started off high and inside with a ball, went low and outside, got him swinging.
From the stretch again.
That's going to miss inside the clay.
Even the count here.
Now two and one.
While it gathers to the plate.
That's a line drive.
Out to left field.
It's going to bury in there just behind the shortstop.
And he's going to be in there at safe at second with a lead off double for your Panthers.
Yeah, kind of a little bit of a bloop right over the third baseman's head.
We were able to get there, but some speed on the base paths.
allowing him to get to second base pretty safely.
Number 10, Wyatt, Epple.
Apple, now up at bat.
Hitting second, looking to drive in a run here early for the Panthers.
Another dangerous guy hitting 3.41 on the season for the Panthers.
Like we said in the opening, this lineup can really put bat on ball.
Loss steps off.
Runner Red have been giving him a little anxiety back there.
Well, it gathers again from the stretch.
It's going to be a little chin music, a little inside there.
Ball one.
This Panthers team really looking to a jump on the chargers early here.
Get a couple runs on the board, establish themselves.
Law from the stretch.
That's going to be in there, paints the bottom of the zone, strike one.
Evens account here at 1-1.
It looked like some good off-speed from our view back here.
Maybe a slider just catching that outside corner.
Real good pitch there.
Apple digs in again.
That ball is going to be in the dirt there from Law.
Two and one now to Apple.
Wind blowing in from center field.
Let's see what Law can do with this pitch.
Gathers from the stretch.
Pitch.
In there for another strike.
Look, it could caught the outside corner.
Evens to count to Eppel, two and two.
Don't need a strikeout here, but a strikeout would be big to getting out
and keep runner on second base here.
Well, Gathers from the stretch.
A little movement behind him.
That's going to be three looking.
Strikeout for Drew Law.
Just what we were talking about.
Now you got one out.
22 Justin Johnson.
This is a much more manageable situation.
Anxiety goes down a little bit.
You get that first out.
Really start to calm those nerves down.
Justin Johnson, the DH now digs in.
Hitting a staggering 398 on the season.
Let's see what he can do.
Lawfires.
That's a base hit.
Just past the outstretched glove of Josick.
Going to get it into Tenoido here.
Back into the infield.
Now we got runners on first and third with one out.
That's a real good piece of hitting there.
Just what every hitting coach has ever told him throughout his entire life.
Just going to drive that ball, real level swing right past the shortstop.
Move your runner, get on base, and Davenport looking to take an early lead here.
Now we have the catcher Panoski up at bat for the Panthers.
Looking to see driving a couple runs here.
Runners on first and third.
While fires swinging a mess, strike one.
interested to see if the panthers start doing here on the base pass see if they look to take a base
get a couple runners into scoring position runners on first and third law is going to deal from the stretch
that's going to side evens account at one and one runners take their leads
law into the stretch gathers throws inside ball two two and one now to the hitter finesky
hitter should be looking for a fastball here.
You get out.
2-0, you're up.
You got runners in scoring position.
The pitch that's going to be followed off to the screen behind us here.
We're looking to capitalize now.
2-2, maybe roll a double play ball, maybe get another strikeout,
and look to get the charges back up at bat here.
Yeah, if you can get out of this, no runs, nothing hurt.
Broke yourself in.
From the stretch.
It's going to be another foul ball behind us.
Pineski battling here.
Two fall balls in a row.
Two and two the count.
Runners on first and third.
Law on the stretch.
Runners take their leads.
Looks over to the first base side.
Law deals.
Just low.
Full count now.
One out.
Runners first and third.
A law takes a deep breath behind the mound.
Digs onto the rubber.
Looking to capitalize here.
Get out of this count.
Law deals. That's going to be inside ball four. We're going to have bases loaded with one out for your Panthers.
Not quite the situation law wanted to be in here in the first, but interesting to see how the chargers take their lumps.
We can get out of this. Limit the damage, stop the bleeding, and go get the bats ready.
We're going to have Aiden Warren digging into the left-handed batters box here, and the left-handed hitter facing the right-handed pitching are at law.
Vases loaded. Law from the stretch. Deals.
that's going to miss low you want to know well again surveys taking the signs from the catcher here
worn with a still stance digging into there to the left-handed batters box he deals that's going to be a
base hit into center field panthers looking to score two and they will no throw from the first baseman
layman and your panthers are now up to nothing runners on first and second with one out
great piece of hitting from war in there putting the ball back up to play up the middle
Swenson got it into the first baseman, layman,
but by that point, the Panthers had already crossed the plate twice.
Really good base running there by the runner on second base.
He saw that ball was going to get down early.
He almost caught up to the runner on third base when they scored.
Travis Leifford, third baseman digs in now.
Digs into the right-handed batters box.
Law looks to deal from the stretch.
Wind up the pitch.
It's going to miss outside and low in the dirt.
Let's see if Law can gather himself here and start the.
throw some strikes, get it into a manageable situation for your chargers.
Lyman digs in again, the pitch, swinging a miss.
Wee had a little trouble handle it behind the plate, but the runner stay put first and second.
We have a one-one count with one out.
Travis Lyman, Leiford, looking to capitalize here with a runner in scoring position.
Just another runner, another hitter from Dev.
He'll be batting over 300.
That's going to just miss outside.
Law didn't seem to like that call,
but here he goes, now facing a two-and-one count
to the dangerous Travis Leiford.
Law has been pitching from the stretch all day today.
The runners take their lead from first and second sets.
Leg kick from Law, he delivers.
That one's going to be popped straight up
to Petroski at second base,
and he's going to catch it for the second out.
Some weak contact induced by law there,
and that's just what your charges needed to get two outs.
Runners on first and second here.
Now batting the right fielder, number five, Ben Corson.
Ben Corson, the right fielder for the Panthers comes up.
Facing two outs.
Runners on first and second.
Let's see if Law can get out of this jam.
Corson digs into the right-handed batters box, bat on a shoulder.
Law deals, and that's going to drop in there for a strike.
Look like he took a little something off that one.
Found the strike zone.
Yeah, Corson only played in seven games, only started in five,
but the games he has played he's batted 444.
The hot batted Corson digs into the right-handed batters bucks now.
Law does a little pickoff move back there to second base,
and the runner scamper's back in there easily.
Trying to keep those guys honest on the base pass early in the game here is Law.
Law steps in, the pitch.
It's going to be followed off down the first baseline,
bringing the count to 0 and 2.
Law's got the advantage here.
Like we can see off speed here
See if we can get the
Hit our Corson chasing a little bit
Law steps back onto the mound
Sets
Corson with the bat on his shoulder
While it deals
That's going to be a little bit too high ball one
One and two the count
I was wrong there, Bernard
Fastball up I like it though
Looks to try to pitch out of a little bit out of the zone
See if you can get the batter caution to chase
While is going to miss there
Count 1 and 3
Two, two outs. Runners take their lead on first and second. That's going to be strike three looking.
Strike out by law to get out of the jam. What a great piece of pitching. Your Chargers are going to pick up the sticks now, so you think get a couple runs back.
Panthers up to two nothing. As we head to the bottom of the first, you're listening to Chargers baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're going to talk about the difference between me neither and me either.
Depending on who you ask, there really isn't one.
Colloquially, they do both mean the same thing,
so I'm in the camp that says they're pretty much interchangeable
with a slight preference for me neither.
Actually, both phrases are probably grammatically wrong
for somewhat complicated reasons I'm not going to drag us through.
On the internet, you will sometimes see people argue
that me neither is used to agree with negative statements,
such as I don't eat grass, me neither,
while me either is used to agree with positive statements.
They typically don't give an example of that latter case, and I'm pretty sure that's because there's not one.
I certainly couldn't think of any.
So the summary on this issue is don't use either one in formal writing, but also don't get too picky in a casual conversation.
That's your Grammar Minute. Visit Thegramomimit.com for more tips and tricks.
Welcome back here to an overclass day here at TFL Partners Field at Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium in Hillsdale, Michigan.
we have the left-handed pitcher for the Panthers.
Ty Crout warming up.
Coming into this contest,
Crout has a 27 ERA and two appearances.
One in two-thirds inning pitched, giving up five hits, five runs.
All of them earned.
Walking three with one strikeout.
Let's see if you can do a little bit better against the Chargers.
Swenson looking to lead off your Chargers.
here. He's hitting a team leading 349 in 106 appearances. Crout, pitching from the wind-up deals.
That's going to be in there on the outside corner for strike one. Oh and one here to Swenson.
Chargers looking to kind of bounce back after that rough fielding. Crout deals again. That ball is
put into play out to the shortstop, travels back into the infield to make the catch, and that's one
out for the Chargers.
Swanson looked to jump on something there, a little bit of a weak contact.
Might have jammed them a little bit, some cold weather.
The Babs don't necessarily have the pop they do when it's 80 degrees out.
No, and it doesn't feel great either.
Crout looks to deal here to Tenoido, and that's going to be strike one.
A little breaking ball in there finds the plate.
Teno do is playing third base for the Chargers today.
Faces another pitch from Crout.
That one's going to be in the dirt outside, evens to count at one-in-one.
Chargers looking to match the production of the Panthers' offense early.
say if they can do to
Teno do it is Teno do
digs into the right-handed
batters box. Crout deals.
That ball is filed back behind us.
Does a catcher have room?
No, he does not.
That's going to slam into the roof here
of our broadcasting booth.
The count remains.
One and two now.
See if Rocco
can dig out of his hole.
One and two the count.
Crout deals from the wind-up.
The pitch.
It's going to be upstairs.
Evens count here at two and two.
Tenuto composes himself, digs back into that right-handed batters box.
Crout deals.
Down and in.
Three and two, full count here for the third basement, Tenuto.
Big for a little momentum for the chargers here.
See if they can get a base runner.
Crout deals.
Strike three and Tenuto cannot believe it.
He didn't like it, nor does the dugout.
Now batting the designated hitter.
Nolan Copen.
Nolan Copen is going to dig into the left-handed batters box.
See if you can pick up his teammate here.
To Noon did not like that call from our home plate umpire.
Crowd's going to deal now to Copen.
That's going to be a ball inside, one and nothing.
Two outs now for the charges.
See if they can start a two-out rally.
Crowds are going to deal.
It's going to be a swing and a miss.
drop that one off the table.
Crout's been working fast here in this first inning.
Let's see if you can keep up his stamina and continue to seemingly catch the Chargers batters.
Off balance.
Crout deals here.
That one's going to be inside.
Three straight breaking balls to the designated hitter here.
Yeah, Crout works pretty quick, having no issue dealing with that new pitch clock rule.
That's going to be ball three here.
Three and one to count to Copen.
Copens digs in a left-handed batter.
Boxcraft is going to deal.
That ball is putting to play out to center field.
The center field are going back, back,
and it's caught just behind the Chargers head out there in center field.
Some solid contact for Copens.
That's going to end the bottom of the first for the Chargers.
Two-nothing.
Panthers lead.
As we go to our break, you're listening to Chargers baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
I'm Bill Hemmer, and these are the most impactful moments
in American history.
Thanks to technological breakthroughs, improvements,
and transportation and a booming labor force, America saw significant economic growth in the late
19th century. But with many new and changing sectors, the stock market was a beast that is
incredibly difficult to follow. But all that changed in 1896. When a journalist by the name of
Charles Dow published the very first Dow Jones Industrial Average, the index followed 12
industries, including cotton, tobacco, gas, and sugar.
Now it wasn't just bankers who had access to this previously exclusive information.
With the birth of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, ordinary people and investors had a way to follow the highs and lows of the U.S. stock market, as well as the temperature of the country's economy.

I'm Bill Hemmer. Fox News.
To Lwanda in Glenda Hill Stadium here in Hillsdale, Michigan, we have a Mets catering pitching change.
Colin Tobin, the freshman, right-handed pitcher entering the game.
Tobin hails from Memphis, Tennessee, made his way up here to Hillsdale, Michigan, to compete for the Chargers.
Two innings pitched so far this season.
Two hits, two runs.
Five walks.
Something we're going to want to look out for as he takes the bump.
Tobin trying to get his arm warm here in the colder weather.
Not a lot of experience.
Looks like our skipper might be trying to test out some new arms against the non-conference opponent.
Yeah, sometimes it's a little better for those guys without experience.
He doesn't know he's down too well. He doesn't care.
Certainly, as we see number 32, Cam Johnson, the left fielder dig into the right-handed batters box for the Panthers.
Tobin going to deal from the stretch.
That ball is going to be low.
It looks like he might have slipped out there.
as he careens off to the left-hand side of the mountain there towards first base.
A little bit of gymnastics.
Tobin, a tall drink of water out there.
Diggs in from the stretch.
Deals.
That ball is going to miss high to the battered Johnson.
Johnson looking to attack here.
Counts 2-0.
Nobody out, nobody on for the chargers.
Tobin digs in.
And deals.
That's going to miss in the dirt.
bouncing stop by the catcher weehee
let's see if Tobin can
can throw a strike here
get back into this count
3 and 0 to the batter Johnson
certainly not the start he wanted
but dealing with a little adversity as a young guy
colder weather might pose a little bit of problems
needs to get warm out there
Tobin again settles deals from the stretch
that'll be in there for a strike
finds the zone
belt high pitch to the batter Johnson
first strike always feels good
shake a few a little bit of the nerves off Johnson playing left here at field for the Panthers as he digs into the right-handed batters box here little bat waggle as Tobin deals it's going to be swing on and missed on the outside corner brings us to a full count here doing a good job battling staying in there
Tobin battling back here for the chargers see if you can sit Johnson down Tobin settles in looks to pitch from the stretch deep
breath, fires. That's going to miss low. Johnson's going to take his armor off and head towards
first base with a walk. The shortstop number 13, Julian Contreras. Julian Contreras, up for the Panthers.
Playing shortstop for him today. Let's see if he can advance the runner. Johnson takes his lead.
Tobin looks over his left shoulder and checks him. Deals from the stretch. Bunt attempt by Contreras
Seems there was a balk by Tobin.
Don't know if he came to a set there.
Johnson's going to advance to second base.
Got to settle in here.
What you'll notice here, the third base coach actually has a sheet, like a play sheet.
If you're familiar with football, it's pretty similar to those.
And the Panthers players on their belt have a card,
and he'll give a three-number code,
and that'll be a play they want to run.
A little insight there from Shoemaker about some.
details for the Panthers. Contrares is going to show Bunn again. Johnson takes off. That's going to be a
ball inside. Johnson arounds third base looks to take home. We'll retreat back to third base.
Looks like showing Bunn there from Contreras might have caused Tobin to miss his spot.
Diving stop by Wehi to prevent the ball from going to the backstop. We got to run around third base.
Count two and O to Contreras. Nobody out. Chargers is looking to battle back here. Get a quick out.
excuse me correction we have one ball counts one and o to contraris we'll see if he shows bunt again
johnson takes his lead tobin gets into the stretch here settles down he does show bunt
gonna pull back as a ball is high at eye level little small ball tactics from the panthers here

the stretch here settles down deep breath deals contrar is showing bunt he's going to get that one down
mishandled by tobin he's going to collect the ball throw it over to first balls corrected by
petrosky for an out but a run did cross in the process Johnson took off slid into home head
first given the Panthers another run they lead here three nothing now you know to point out a
silver lining. At least Tobin might be able to get back with no one on base.
Interested to see if he goes from the stretch or the windup here. He's been picking from the wind
up primarily. He's going to do the same to Clay here. That's second baseman as Davenport
reaches the top of the order and restarts. Ball's going to miss inside from Tobin.
Going to bounce back into the field of play. Wehee's going to corral it. Toss it back to Tobin.
a little jawing back at his pitcher, hopefully trying to settle the nerves of the young right-handed pitcher.
Tomin to Justice Hat.
Gets the sign.
Settles into the stretch.
Clay holding that back steel.
He's going to load.
He's going to uncork.
That ball is going to be foul.
Taken in by the third base coach for the Panthers, showing off the hot hands down there at the hot corner.
Speaking of hot hands, he's got his hand warmer in there.
Just had to check if that was okay.
Not a bad call on this colder weather here.
As Tobin again is going to pitch from the stretch.
Clay holding that bat steel loads.
That's going to be in there for a struck.
Look like a breaking ball.
Tobin may be trying to find a little something, something here.
The count goes to a one and two with one out.
Clay's been playing well, hitting 316 for the Panthers.
He's going to load.
That ball's going to be putting to play it on the third baseline.
Danudo's going to charge it.
Deliver, high throw.
Layman's going to dive and try to tag him.
The umpire is going to call him safe.
Clay's down there on the field.
Might have gotten a little bit rattled.
As a wild throw by Tenuto pulls Lehman off the base
and the Chargers are unable to getting out.
Yeah, that's not what you needed.
If you're the Chargers, not great for the mental of the young pitcher.
She's trying to come in, getting out.
So it looks like head coach of the Chargers,
talking to the umpires here
Tom Vasella going to converse
with the umpires here
head back to the dugout
using its fifth year captaining the chargers
the speed of Clay might have
spit up Tanuto as you tried to
rifle it over to Lehman
call's going to be confirmed
safe on the base pass
and the Panthers have another runner
Clay's going to be safe at first base
seems to be okay
walked off the injury
Wyatt Epple
we got Wyatt Epple
the center field are up now for the Panthers.
Looking to add on to this early Davenport lead.
It's officially going to be ruled in air by Tenuto.
Let's see if Tobin can pick his teammate up.
Deal a little ground play.
Ground ball, double play.
Apple's going to look at the pitch, and he's going to go around on a bunch attempt.
Count is now 0-1 with one out, run around first.
He's going to check that belt buckle again as he digs into the right-handed batters box.
Tobin looks over his left shoulder, checks the runner.
Comes into the set.
Balked again.
Another balk.
Seems like you need to take a little bit more time settling in there.
Yeah, and you'll see Tobin, when he gets to the top, when he goes to gather,
he's just still kind of bobbing that glove up and down.
That glove has to come to a complete stop before he starts his motion.
Little nerves, maybe for the young charger pitcher here.
He's going to pitch from the stretch again with a runner on second base.
center federal Eppel
setting up shop
in the right-handed batters box
Tobin's going to deal
that ball is going to miss low
just missing the zone again
as Tobin Justice Hatt
looks to reset here count one and one
one out, runner on second base
for the Panthers
deep breath from Tobin sets in
Petrosky dog in the runner back there
Tobin's going to deal and that ball is going to miss
outside again
two and one the count now to
Apple. Apple hitting 341 on the season and 132 plate appearances for the Panthers.
So we're going to do a little bit more damage driving another run here and extend that 3-0-0 Panthers lead.
Toma's going to set. Deal from the stretch here. Ball is going to miss low. Those Panthers
looking to exercise that cat's eye of theirs. I've been watching a lot of pitches go by.
as the count is now three and one with one out.
Apple rest is bad on the shoulder.
Picks it up as Tobin gathers.
Leg cake pitch.
That ball is going to be driven up the middle.
A little flash of the leather by Petroski.
And a great job picking that ball up out of the air before it hit the ground.
We're going to have two outs.
We're running on second base with a little flash of the leather from Billy Petroski.
Great play out there.
second. Yeah, that's big too. Keep runner on second base. No one advances.
able to get out on a hard hit ball and
Chargers looking to get out of here and stop the bleeding. Justin Johnson, the
DH for the Panthers, digs in to the right-handed batters box. Rocking some red
batting gloves with a black bat. It's going to wiggle around a couple times as
Tobin comes to the set and the runner takes off. That's going to be a no contest.
It was a ball fired down to third base by Weehe, but the runner was in there safely with
plenty of room to spare. Interesting decision to advance a runner on third as he was already in scoring position.
Really good jump there. You have to wonder if the panthers saw something with the leg kick timing.
Tobin looking to get out of this inning here. Settles. Going to deal. That's going to be in there for a strike.
Evens account here at one-on-one as Justin Johnson looking to jump out of ball and score another Panther runner.
Tobin going to dig in here.
See what he can do as he deals.
That's going to be up and inside a little chin music as Justin Johnson gets his head out of the way to avoid that pitch.
He's going to be looking at a two-and-one count here against Tobin.
The runner Clay takes his lead from third base.
Looking quite nonchalant out there.
The pitch, going to miss low.
Three and one, the count now.
Two outs, runner on third.
Tobin looking to get out of this jam here.
stop some of the bleeding.
Johnson adjust his helmet as he digs into the right-handed batters box.
Tobin settles, deep breath, deals.
That's going to be a strike.
Johnson doesn't seem to agree with the call
as the ball careens off Tobin's met over to the left
hand side of the infield,
but the runners will not advance.
Full count here now with two outs.
That's Tobin.
Kitch his catcher's sign from the stretch.
Settles in.
Deals.
That ball's going to be putting to play.
Taken back to Nuto, off the glove.
And safe is Johnson.
As Clay comes in to score,
ball back safely to Tobin.
Would have seen a boy there from Teno,
hopefully to try to get this charger out of the inning.
He's going to look to reset now.
Tough play there at third base,
caught it on a bit of a weird top.
You usually want to catch that just as it comes off the ground
or when it's coming down and just get left a little too much distance.
High hop from Teno.
Going to allow a runner get on first base.
As Pionski, the catcher digs in and is going to fall the pitch off to the first base side.
Runner on first is Justin Johnson.
Tobin's still on the bump.
Looking to get out of this inning.
He's going to deal from the stretch, checks over his left shoulder at the runner.
Some speed on the base pass from the Panthers called the little discomfort.
for the Chargers. That ball is going to be fouled off down the third base line.
Ponski, the catcher for the Panthers here.
Got to take advantage of this opportunity. Two outs, O2, runner on first.
Let's see what Tobin can do.
Not just head up and down, deals.
Ball's going to be outside. Ball one, not a bad miss.
counters now one and two
with a runner on first
for the right-handed pitching Tobin.
Tonsky going to dig into the right-handed batters box here
rocking some bright pink gloves.
Let's see what he can do.
Runner's going to take off.
That's going to be a swing into the miss.
As Wehi dropped the ball,
but he's going to toss it down to the first baseman Lehman.
That's a strikeout for Tobin.
And the Chargers look to go grab the sticks,
maybe cut into this lead a little bit.
Panthers leading 4-0
as we head to the bottom of the second.

This is the Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group.
In 1980, Soviet troops invaded Afghanistan
straining relations between the United States
and the then Soviet Union.
That same year, the Winter Olympics were taking place
at Lake Placid, New York,
where the U.S. and Soviet hockey teams faced off,
for the Olympic gold.
The U.S. team was the youngest to ever compete in the Olympics,
and the Soviet team were considered to be the best in the world.
Experts said it would take a miracle for the U.S. team to defeat the Soviets,
and that is exactly what happened.
Still considered one of the most exciting Olympic competitions ever,
when the clock ran out, the score read Soviet Union 3, USA 4.
This has been The Making of America.

Here at TFO Partners Field at Lenda and Glinda Hill Stadium in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Still an overcast sky here, wind blowing lazily in from center field
as the stars and stripes wave out there behind the batter's eye.
Yeah, looking. Chargers have to look to get some base runners here.
Quite frankly, they haven't really threatened Davenport's fielders at all.
just be getting some easy outs.
Got to put somebody out base here.
We have the Florida product.
Jake Figman playing left heel for the Chargers.
Batting forth and going to be digging into the right-handed batters box.
Facing Ty Crout of the Panthers.
Crout's going to deal quickly.
That's going to be a strike on a breaking ball.
Count O and one to Figman.
Figman, former player of the week.
in the GMAC conference for the Chargers.
Looking to start a rallying, cutting it to its lead.
That's going to be a sharply hit ball between the third baseman and the shortstop,
and Figman's going to be on base with a nice sharply hit single.
That's exactly what the Chargers needed there, get somebody on base,
start to give Roland.
Put some pressure on Davenport.
Devenport's felt a little too comfortable so far.
Will Lehman for the Chargers digging in.
The Texan is going to take.
his stance there in the right-handed batters box.
Crout's going to deal.
That ball's going to be fouled off down the third baseline.
As Lehman is down here, 0-1 now.
Running on first base, nobody out.
Crout's going to deal from the stretch now.
Left-handed pitchers, got a beautiful view of first-base side.
As Figman takes his lead,
Kraut's going to deal.
That's going to be a ball high, even the count out one-in-one.
Pitching to the Texman-Texin.
Layman. Yeah, this is exactly what the Chargers need. Just stay comfortable.
Crout's going to deal there. It's going to be a ball outside. Two and one now.
To the slugger Lehman. Laman looking to do a little damage as he crouches on that back leg.
That's going to be a ball low. Three and one now the count to Lehman.
Crout running into a little trouble finding the zone here as he has a runner on first.
And he's staring him in the eye as he gets into a stretch.
layman digs in that's going to be a strike right down the pipe as the right-handed batting layman is faced with a full count
kraout again working fast it's going to settle in check the runner at first base deals that's followed off
by layman to the back screen as he's staying alive count this three and two
he takes a deep breath just his helmet for you digs into the batter's box
Crout's going to take a deep breath.
Check the runner deals.
That's a sharply hit ball out to left field.
That's going to find the gap.
Great piece of hitting by Will Lehman.
There's an error out there as the Panthers defender has trouble with the ball.
And Figman is going to come into score.
What a great hit by Will Lehman.
Right into the gap out there in left center field.
The left fielder, Cam Johnson, had a little trouble with the ball.
And now we have a runner on second.
and the charge is cut into that lead.
Panthers leading now 4-1.
That's exactly what you need.
Get some base runners, get some hits.
Now you can roll.
Runner on second now is Lehman,
and it brings up the right fielder, Tyler Turner.
Does a little dance before he gets into the box,
and he digs in facing Crout.
Crout's going to deal quickly.
It's going to be a ball outside and misses.
Count is 1-0.
nobody out. Run around second.
Panthers leading 4 to 1 now
with the double by Lehman.
Another ball outside from Crout.
Turner takes the lead here, 2 and 0.
The count.
Layman working back there at second base.
Crout working from the stretch.
Settles and deals.
That's going to be a sharply hit ball
over the outstretched arm to the shortstop.
Tyler Turner going to mose you on down over to first base
and Lehman advances to third.
on the single by Tyler Turner
over the outstretched arm of Contreras.
Not enough to climb the ladder and get that one.
Now we got a runner's on first and third for the chargers.
Good piece of hit in there from Turner
right over the shortstop's head.
That's going to bring up the catcher Ryan Weehe
as the Davenport Panthers
will look to have a little conference at the mound.
See what they can do to settle down kraut.
maybe get a couple of quick outs here and avoid some of the damage.
Yeah, Chargers doing a nice job of not pushing too hard.
You get down four runs in the first two innings.
There's a slight want.
There's a gravitational pull to try and get it all back at once.
Just doing a nice job of taking it one at bat, one pitch of a time,
and hopefully we get a few more runs to dig into this lead.
There appears to be a body up and moving around the Panthers,
boltpin, but no indication he's going to be going in yet.
Manager returns to the dugout, and Crout will dig in and pitch.
It's going to be a called strike as Wehi takes the pitch,
steps out of the batter's box, looks down to third base to interpret the signs.
Runners on first and third.
Weehee up at bat, and the right-handed batters box,
there's going to be a pick-off attempt from Crout, tossing it over to the first baseman.
Turner's going to scamper back, no harm, no foul, and Carl's going to dig in again on the rubber.
The pitch, sharply hit ball out to shortstop. Contreras is going to backhand it, fire it over to first base, and he's going to be safe.
Another run comes across on the infield single by Weehee.
Good hustle down there to get called safe at first base.
Layman's going to come across the plate and score. Turner advances to second.
Now we got runners on first and second, nobody down.
and Billy Petrosky going to dig into the right-handed batters box.
Looking to extend this lead.
Chargers are down, down only two to four now,
as they have collected four hits.
Petrosky going to swing at the first pitch,
and that's going to drop into left field.
The runners are going to hold on second and third,
and we got bases loaded.
Some great hitting by the Chargers.
Petrosky jumps on the first pitch from Crout
and delivers it out to the left fielder, Cam Johnson,
and lets the ball drop in before returning it back to the infield.
Yeah, real good piece of hitting there.
Like I've said before, the chargers are just hitting these line drives,
just over the infield, advancing runners.
Now we've got bases loaded, no outs.
Got to take advantage.
We've got the short stop.
Jase again.
He's going to jump on a pitch.
That's going to go over to third base, sliding stop by the third baseman.
And he's going to miss both.
He went for a tag on Weehe as he crossed his path-headed.
to third base.
He missed the tag and then the throw is not in time.
His J6 is going to wind up with an infield single.
And that's going to bring up the top of the lineup for the Chargers.
Another run comes across.
A little evading by Wehi there.
Wehi pulled out his best matrix impression to avoid that tag.
We're going to have Crout dealing to Swenson.
And that's going to be in there for a strike count O and 1.
Nobody out.
The bases are juiced as guards.
Swenson comes up to bat for the Chargers.
Diggs into the left-hand batters box.
That's going to be another called strike.
Two straight breaking balls from Crout.
Just catching that inside corner.
Two great pitches from Crout to get up here on 02 on Swinson.
Crout's going to deal.
That ball's going to be put out in the right field just past the second baseman.
We're going to have another run score for the Chargers.
The right fielder, Ben Corson, going to let that ball drop in front of them,
fumbled the ball out there, but the runners will stay put.
Tenuda.
We're going to have a single out to right field by Swenson, and that's going to bring up Tanuta.
Again, with the base is juiced.
We got another arm out there in the Panthers' bullpen.
As the manager is going to come out, and we look like we might have a pitching change here for the Panthers.
The Chargers jumped on a couple of baseballs put over the plate by Crout, and they find themselves right back in this game.
Yeah, the Chargers doing a great job here.
staying patient, but being aggressive.
We saw a few first pitch hits there, a few second pitch hits there,
really trying to jump on him early.
We're going to have a new arm coming out for the Panthers to take the bump.
It appears to be a right-handed pitcher,
waiting on a number here to see who's taking the bump for your visiting Panthers.
Taking your bump for the Panthers is going to be Colin Lang.
Oh, excuse me.
It is going to be Braden Flanders.
Sorry about that kerfuffle.
We're going to have Braden Flanders taking the mound for the Panthers.
See what he can do here.
Right-handed pitcher pitching from that three-quarters slot with a little bit of a twisting motion to the body.
Braden Flanders boasting a 6-2-3 ERA in 13 innings pitched, giving up 16 hits, 10 runs, nine of them earned.
Also walking 12 with seven strikeouts.
The Chargers have nickel and dine themselves right back into this game
with the extra base hit by Lehman and a couple of timely singles
by the rest of the Chargers lineup.
And they'll face, bases loaded, nobody out.
As Flanders comes to the mound,
and Tenuto looks to add on to the Chargers' offensive run here.
The Chargers are doing a really good job attacking early seeing pitches
with a new pitcher, I would imagine they'd try and see a few pitches and then jump on them again.
Junuto, the Illinois product.
He's going to dig into the right-handed batters box, and he will see a strike from Flanders
as that crosses the outside corner.
Flanders has got an interesting pitching motion here, pitching from the stretch.
That arm crosses his body right about his belt as he deals here.
It's going to be a ball and miss.
Yeah, a new arm.
slot. The Chargers got to adapt to here.
Petrosky leads off first,
Jasek off second,
and that ball is hammered out to
left field by Tenuto
as a runner tags
and Perotsky is going to score.
No throw there,
nice little
sack fly on the left field.
All of a sudden the chargers are
battling.
Beautiful piece of hitting from Tenuto. I just need to put it
in playing. That's going to score the run as
Paraski crosses the plate.
Left-handed hitter Copen is going to dig into the left-handed batters box here.
As J-6 slips over there on second base, trying to mess with the pitcher,
but Flanders is going to deliver a strike, count 0-1 to Copens.
Chargers is going to take the lead now on that select fly by Tenuto,
five to four with six hits.
Ball is going to be put into play,
and Copens is going to be out at first base.
Great play by the first baseman to stop that ball and flip it over.
to the pitcher Flanders to catch Copens out at first base.
That's going to advance the runners with JASIC on third and Swenson on first.
Swenson had to do a little acrobatics to get out of the way of that ball off the bat of Copens.
As Figman going to dig in.
Figman watches a ball.
Count one-oh.
Two outs.
Runners on second and third for the chargers.
This new arm slot not seeming to give the chargers too much trouble as we've seen contact.
already. A couple of arms active in the Chargers bullpen as well as Figgumann's going to
follow that one off his foot over to the third base side. Evens to count at one-on-one.
Let's see what Figman can do. Hopefully knock in a couple of those ducks that are on the pond for the
chargers. That ball is going to be followed off behind the third base coach. Count one and two now.
as we have JASIC occupying third base, Swenson occupying second.
Infielers playing along the outfield grass there.
Outfield turf, I should say.
The beautiful turf field here.
Going to deal to Figman and Contreras is going to climb the ladder for the out.
A little flash of the leather from the shortstop for the Panthers.
And Flanders is going to come in and get out of the inning.
Hard hit ball by Figman.
Looks like their chargers are seeing the ball.
well, not enough to get over the outstretched arm.
We have a score of Panthers for Chargers 5 as they take the lead.

Tobin is going to get the ball here for the Chargers again. As we head to the top of the third,
a couple of arms active down in the Chargers bullpen, but Tobin, the volunteer from the great state of
Tennessee, going to get the ball here for the charges in the top of the third.
Interesting to see here.
The pitching staff of the Chargers are still even to throw a few more strikes.
You see out there we got charges of two errors on the board.
And the Panthers only have three hits but four runs.
So if they can, Chargers can settle in and start throwing some strikes.
And knock out a few of those errors.
They could really settle in here defensively.
Chargers score five on six hits in the bottom of the second.
Aiden Warren going to be up for the Panthers.
going to dig into the left-handed batters box
to face the right-handed pitching Tobin.
Defense remains the same for the Chargers.
Tenuto out at third.
Jasek at short.
Paraski at second.
Swenson at first.
As Tobin takes the bump,
deals, that's going to be a ball in the dirt.
Warren, going to have a one-and-no count.
Jumping on top early.
Let's see if Tobin can battle back.
Tobin from the stretch,
The pitch. It's going to be a breaking ball high. Missed his spot on that one.
Going to bring the count to 2 and 0. Lights are shining down here at Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium.
LEDs on an overcast day. As Tobin's going to deal from the stretch, that's going to be a strike. Paints the outside corner.
We've got to count two and one now to the first basement worn.
Wind still slightly blowing in.
from center field as tobin takes a deep breath the pitch it's going to be a strike again catches the outside corner found something he likes and something that warn does not like big here take advantage you got two strikes start the sitting out right count is two and two to the left-handed hitting warn tobin going to deal that's going to be a swing into the miss a strikeout for colin tobin
Great start to the inning.
And the Chargers have a one out now.
On the warrants strikeout.
Great start to the inning.
Just letting himself settle in here, get a strikeout to start.
Now your entire arsenal is back.
Tobin went back to the breaking ball on that one.
This is going to bring up Travis Leiford,
the right-handed hitting third baseman.
And that's going to be a cold strike on pitch one.
Just got to get some confidence going for the young kid.
Tobin is battled back.
Dealing some good stuff right now.
Count his own one with one out.
Nobody on.
Leiffer digs in.
That ball is going to be into the dirt, one in one.
Not a terribly far drive for the Panthers today as they head down from Caledonia, Michigan.
That's where you're from, isn't it?
It is.
Beautiful Caledonia, Michigan.
Panthers, the hometown team.
but not for the Chargers as Tobin's going to deal again
that ball is going to be inside and low
sharp stopped by Wehi
and the count's going to be 2-1
Leifford a 304 hitter on the season and 112
plate appearances
15 extra base 16 excuse me 17 extra base hits
he's kind of been mashing a little bit
yeah you could say that again
slugging 509 on the year
Leiford is going to take another ball
from Tobin
Bring the count to 3-1 here
For the right-handed hitting third baseman
Tobe in deep breath
The pitch
It's going to be ball four
Leifford's going to trot on down to first base
We got a run around now with one out
As Tom Vasella
He's going to take a mound visit
Talk to his young pitcher
Looks like we might have another pitching change for the Chargers
Bit of a bullpen game for the Chargers
Testing out a couple different arms
non-conference contest as Tobin is going to exit the contest.
And we have Isaac Scavarda.
The Kalamazoo Michigan product attended at Lloyd Norick's High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
That ring the game on the aisle for the charges from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Number one, Isaac Scavarta.
They're pitching change here for the Chargers.
We have a fueling station pitching change with Isaac Skavarda, number one.
Another tall drink of water out there on the mound for the chargers.
So McAvarda has gotten the pill for 11 and a third innings this year,
rocking a 17.47 ERA and seven appearances.
Four starts.
He's working out of the bullpen in this one.
Let's see what he can do with a runner occupying first and one out.
Yeah, we're looking at a guy in those 11.1 innings 18 walks.
So hopefully we can find the zone today.
Keep these Panthers from getting some easy bases
because that's honestly been where a lot of their runs have come from today.
Just being able to watch pitches and get on base.
Some handouts by the Chargers.
I've led to the Panthers scoring four runs.
here. And the top of the third score is Panthers four Chargers five. As the players for the
chargers look to take the positions, Skavarda steps off the back of the mound. Sharp
jersey combo for the charges here rocking the white home unis with blue undershirts and a blue cap.
Some of the best unies in the GMAC, I think. You may be biased partner, but I don't disagree with you.
Corson.
The right
fielder for the
panther is going to dig
into the right-handed batter's box.
Bat on the shoulder.
Scovardo going to look over his right shoulder and deal.
It's going to be a ball
outside in the dirt.
Stabbing stop by Wehi.
He's done a great job back there
making sure no pitches reach the backstop.
He's been a real brick wall for the Chargers so far.
Scovart is going to look over his left
shoulder. Check the runner.
The lead, the pitch.
Well, again.
and Corson has a 2-0 count to his benefit.
Just got a battle in here.
Settle in that cold weather, making it hard to grip the baseball,
hard to get those muscles up and firing.
Let's see what Scovarta can do here.
It's going to be a called strike right down the center of the plate.
Two and one, the count.
With one out and run around first.
Leifford takes his lead off of first.
Ascovada takes a deep breath.
Dealing from the stretch, the runner goes.
Mishandled by Wehi in the throw is late.
Stopped by Parrotsky.
But Leiford is going to have a stolen base,
and the counter's going to be 3-1.
Got a good jump there.
Seems like the Chargers pitchers, even though they're going out of the stretch.
No real slide step.
Still been picking up that knee.
The Panthers have now stolen two bases on the day.
As Leiford advances to second,
Scovarda.
Working from the stretch to the header Corson.
That pitch is going to be low.
Count of three and two here.
Full count to the right fielder, Corson.
Scovara shakes off his catcher.
Looks for the sign.
Finds what he likes.
Big leg kick for the right-handed pitcher.
And strike three.
Blue the doors off him on that one.
Maybe a little bit of a mix-up,
but it still worked for the chargers.
Two outs.
on the Skavarda strikeout.
Yeah, saw Skavarda there kind of tapping his chest like that's on me.
Maybe a slight mix-up miscommunication between Wehi and Skavarda as Skavarda entered the game.
But he's got a strikeout to his name.
And that is the second out of the inning for the Chargers.
It's going to be a called strike on the first pitch to the left-fielder Cam Johnson.
Johnson and Justice Helmand.
looks on to Skowarda who's dealing from the stretch
Skoward to take a look back to the second
base as a runner leads off another called strikes for
Sukovarta really seems to be finding his groove here
up O2
look for something just outside of the zone here
so if he can get him to chase
Johnson batting eighth for the Panthers
as he digs into the right-handed batters box
Scarveda deals
pitches and that's doors
Again, Scarvada strikes out two and gets the Chargers out of the inning, bringing up the bottom of the third inning for the Chargers as they look to extend their lead.
The Chargers are leading five to four here.

Telling the stories of those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor, this is Minute of Honor.
Here's Jenna Suhita.
On February 10th, 1970, near Fuaklong Vietnam, specialist John Baca was setting up an ambush with his unit.
When one of the tripwires detonated in the jungle ahead, a platoon was sent to investigate.
Soon they came under intense enemy fire from concealed positions along the trail.
As they prepared to engage the enemy, a fragmentation grenade was thrown in the midst of the patrol.
Baca said later, at that moment he thought of his mother.
He called her only the day before, telling her that he was working in the post office, safe from action on the front lines.
But with the lives of his friends hanging in the balance, Baca acted quickly.
With complete disregard for his own safety, Baca used his steel helmet and his own body to cover the grenade and absorb the lethal fragments.
His conspicuous gallantry at the risk of his own life directly saved the lives of eight men.
For the extraordinary courage and selflessness he displayed on February 10th, 1970, specialist John Baca was awarded the Medal of Honor.
This is Minute of Honor on Radio Free Hillsdale, 10.7 FM.
Welcome you back to our presentation of Hillsdale baseball here in beautiful Hillsdale, Michigan.
We got both teams under the 500 mark looking to notch a win
and get back closer to that 500 mark.
The Davenport Panthers entered the contest, rocking a 14 and 16 record
where your Hillsdale Chargers standing at 11 and 14.
Yeah, really looking to get a win here.
And like we said earlier, going to this weekend with some momentum
as we go to play Northport.
Number 33, the first baseman, Will Lehman,
going to dig into the right-handed batters box.
Really loads up that back leg looking to spring into a pitch and send it.
That's going to be ball one as he watches that one go by.
Good eye by Lehman is that ball was scraping the dirt.
Flanders is still the pitcher for the Panthers.
He's going to work quickly.
That's going to be another strike as he evens the count one in one.
Nobody out, nobody on.
Bottom of the third for the chargers, Will Lehman up at bat.
That ball is going to catch the outside corner and bring the count to one and two.
Lehman takes his bat, rested on his back shoulder.
As Flanders deals, that ball is going to be outside.
Evens count back at two and two now for the slugger Lehman.
Davenport pitcher is working quickly today.
That is going to be a strikeout for Lehman, a foul tip.
Caught by the catcher.
23.
Hawensky.
And that is going to be a strikeout for Braden Flanders.
It's going to bring up.
Tyler Turner does a little dancey dance before entering the right-handed batters box.
A little shuffle there.
Turner rocking the number 23.
Going to dig in here against the right-hand pitching Flanders.
Going to jump on the first pitch.
It's going to send a chopper out fielded by the third baseman.
And he's going to be thrown out.
Good play.
Sharp play by Travis Leiford, the third baseman for the Panthers.
to gun down Turner.
Able to make that throw on the run,
fire it over to first base.
No problem with that one as he charged it
and took handle of it.
And that's going to bring up the catcher Ryan Weehee.
It's going to be a ball outside for the Panthers.
Pitching to Weehee.
Count as 1-0, 2 out.
Nobody on.
Going to be followed back by Weehe.
Wehee, digging back into the right-handed bedder's box.
Going to adjust himself and take on the pitcher here.
Flanders has done a nice job, pitching fast.
He's going to do it again.
That's going to be a ball.
Two balls, one strike to the pitcher, Wehi.
That's going to hit Weehee.
He's going to wear it off the left shoulder there, and he's going to get a free base.
No big deal for him as a catcher.
Tough guys out there.
Typically known as tough guys, Weehe's going to wear that one,
and we've got to run around now.
in the bottom of the third for the Chargers.
Billy Paraski, the second baseman,
going to be up now.
And he's going to dig into the right-handed batters box
as Wehi takes his lead off of first.
Flanders going to deal, and that's going to be an inside in there for a strike.
Strike one, count O'N-1 to Perotsky.
Flander is going to look over his left shoulder
towards first base as Wehi takes his lead.
Flanders works quickly.

The Chargers still up five to four on the Panthers.
as we head to the top of the fourth inning.
Scavarda, going to get the pill again for the chargers.
Let's see if he can work quickly again, made short order of those Panthers.
Yeah, really came in and handled business,
having to come in out of the bullpen last night.
Let's see if he can continue that.
Julian Contrera is going to dig into the left-handed batters box here.
The shortstop for Davenport.
let's see what he can do here against the right-handed pitching
Scovarta. Contrera is going to swing and miss on the first pitch there from Scovarta
and Scovarta going to get up quickly 0-1. Contreras waggles his bat as he looks at the pitch.
That's going to be in there for another strike caught the inside corner
and Scavada is quickly up 02.
Skavada looking really good so far.
Scovarta from the stretch again, big leg kick.
That's fouled off towards the first baseline, just foul.
Lehman had a diving stab at it and stopped it,
but the ball is going to be ruled foul,
and Contreras is going to head back to that left-handed batters box.
Yeah, Contreras is real happy that rolled foul.
Great play over there at first base.
Laman flashing the leather on the foul ball there.
As we'll see what's Cavarta can do up here, O2.
Nobody out, nobody on.
As Contreras digs in to the left-hand batters,
box. Scovarta deals, doors. Scovarta has struck out three out of the bullpen for the
chargers. What a great job. Skavarda coming out of the pen. The big leg kick the delivery and right
by Contreras who took a big hack but caught nothing but air. Sam Clay up now for the Davenport
Panthers. The second baseman digs into the right-handed batters box. Skowarduk and the deal. Breaking ball.
just high. Count 1 and 0 now to Clay. As Covearda looks in for the catching. Sign is delivered.
Sets pitches. That's going to be a strike. Nice pitch by Scovarta. Slapp of the mid. And we're even here.
One in one, one out. Nobody on. Skavardo really catching his stride here. That's going to be just
outside in the other batters box there. As Clay now up to one.
one out nobody on
Panthers down four to five to the Chargers
Escobarda going to deal
and that's going to catch
just a little bit too inside there
from Skavarda
we're going to have a three and one count now
let's see if Skavarda can get back in that rhythm
as he sets
deep breath
the pitch
going to be high to Clay
as Clay is going to trot down to first base
with a walk
Let's see what Skavarda can do.
Off to a hot start was the Kalamazoo Michigan product.
But now he's fallen behind with one out one on, handing out the hall pass to Clay to get down to first base.
Up now for the Panthers number 10, Wyatt Epple.
Skavarda sets.
The runner fakes going.
Wehee's going to check him, and it's going to be a ball just high.
on the offering from Skavardo.
A little bit of a quicker delivery,
shorter leg kick there by Skavarda.
Maybe trying to control some of those
wild panthers out there on the base paths
is Skavada.
Skavada going to set deal.
That's going to be in there for a strike to Apple.
Apple didn't even
hesitate as you watches that ball go by.
The center for your look for the panthers
going to dig back into the right-handed batters box.
Scovarta checks first base.
Looks back at second.
deals that's going to be a sharply hit ball out past the outstretched arm of layman into right field oh down goes clay
took a stumble as he rounded second base looks like we're going to have runners on first and second here
apple delivered sharply hit ball under the right field Turner delivered it quickly and clay was not
able to advance after he got caught on maybe the turf monster out there yeah it looks like nothing
in particular got him, but it got him nonetheless.
Chargers pretty lucky that he didn't get to third base.
Now a much more manageable situation.
You've got a double play ball still in play here.
The D.H. Justin Johnson going to dig in with runners on first and second for the Panthers.
Scovarta deals.
It's going to be just outside.
He's going to fake back to first base trying to control the runner there.
The runner Eppel is going to slide back in.
No harm, no foul.
Count one and O now to Johnson.
One out.
Two on for the Panthers.
Panthers. They look to cut back into their one-run deficit here. Escobarda surveys the bases.
There go the runners. Wehee's going to fire down and safe is the runner Clay. The throw was not in time.
Tunido not able to apply the tag in time. Now we got runners on second and third, both in scoring
position for the dangerous Johnson. Again, Johnson D.Hing today for the Panthers, hitting 3.98 on this season.
Up close to that 400 mark.
Scavada, going to take a deep breath.
The high leg kick deals.
That's in there for a strike.
Battling back here is Skavarda.
Two balls and one strike, one out, runners on second and third.
Saw that big leg kick again when those runners scored.
Just wonder if you got comfortable with a runner on second instead of first base.
Wind blowing in here from center field as Johnson digs in,
waggles the bat behind him.
Scobarada takes a deep breath.
Deals.
That's going to be a soft grounder to Tenoodle at third base.
He's going to be fielded cleanly and tossed over to Lehman at first.
Johnson is going to be out, but a run is going to score.
Clay scampered down the third baseline, crossing the plate in time,
and your Panthers are going to tie it up.
Five to five with the chargers on the RBI by Johnson.
Not exactly what he wanted there, but he got the job done.
We got a runner on third now with two outs
as the panther score one in the top of the fourth
to tie it up.
The catcher, Dylan Polensky,
going to take a ball high on a breaking ball
it looked like from Skavarda.
Count's going to be 1-0.
Two outs, runner on third base.
Infielders playing at normal depth.
Outfield shifted slightly over to the left.
And there's going to be a strike from Skavarra.
as he deals. Kapayensky, the catcher, didn't offer at it. And the count is now one-in-one.
Skavarda, leg kick, deals. That ball is tapped out over to Tanudo at third, and he's going to fire over, and that's going to be an out.
The Chargers are going to escape with one run scored there in the top of the fourth, tied up on the flash of the leather by Tenuto. The Chargers get out of it.
Here we go, headed to the bottom of the fourth. You're listening to Charger Baseball on Radio Free Hills.
One of 1.1.7 FM.
You're listening to What's in a Name on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Today we'll be taking a trip to one of the most famous cities in the world.
New York, New York.
Its origins start back in 1624 when a group of Dutch colonists settled on Manhattan Island,
founding what came to be known as New Amsterdam.
When the British gained control of the area in 1664,
King Charles I gave the lance to his brother, the Duke of York,
temporarily changing the city's name to New York.
This became its permanent title in 1674, a full century before the founding of the United States.
Another nickname you may have heard for the city is The Big Apple.
This was popularized in the 1920s by horse racing journalist John J. Fitzgerald.
Jazz musicians also started using the term further spreading the name in the late 1920s and 30s.
It slowly died out but was brought back in tourist campaigns in the 1970s, solidifying its place as the Big Apple.
This is What's in a Name.
My name is Megan Pitcock, and you're listening to Radio Free.
Hillsdale 101.7 F.S. Welcome back to our presentation of Charger Baseball. Tied up there in the top of the
fourth for the Panthers score stands 5-5. As Flanders is going to take them out again for the
Panthers. Let's see what this Chargers offense can do. Exploded for five runs in the bottom of
the second held scoreless in the bottom of the third. Let's see if they can take the lead here.
and the bottom of the fourth.
I'm looking to hop on this early.
You've seen the new arm slot for a little bit now,
and just looking to get some momentum.
Flanders dealing from that half arm slot here.
Billy Paraski, the second baseman,
going to dig into the right-handed batters box for the chargers.
Flanders, dealing from the stretch, pitches,
shows bunt by Petroski,
and he did go around.
That's going to be a shot.
called strike as Petrosky looked to get out and run but was unable to do so.
Hard struck ball by Perotsky. That's going to get over the outstretched love of Contreras into
third into left field there and Perotsky's on base with a nice piece of hitting on the single.
I mean Parachsky's a talented kid. Sophomore year coming and had a great freshman year looking to
back that up and so far he's out another good season.
Paraski seems to be doing well, seeing the ball well, as it's going to bring up the shortstop.
Aaron Jasek.
Rest his bed on the shoulders, he digs into the right-handed batters box.
Flanders, deep breath, going to step off the mound and try to pick off Paraski there at first base.
And Paraski going to slide in their head first and be safe.
Flanders with the quick move looking to pick off Paraski with the jump.
He's going to deal here, and that's going to be low to Jason.
Ball one.
Count one and no.
Nobody out.
Nobody one on for the Chargers.
As Peroski singled into left field to start off the inning.
Flander's going to look over his left shoulder.
He's going to deal here.
Jasek going to follow that one off right behind him.
As he swung, made some contact, but foul.
Count one and one now to the shortstop Jasek.
Flander is going to look at his wrist using that pitchcom technology.
it looks like are the Davenport Panthers.
He's going to look over his left shoulder.
That's Flanders.
The pitcher.
Gonna step off the mound again, try to get Parrotsky.
Paratsky's got a good little lead over there at first base.
And Flanders seems to be a little uncomfortable with it,
not trying to let Peraldsky advance to second base.
Jason going to dig into the right-handed batters box.
Flanders is going to deal.
That ball's going to be outside, crossed the plate over outside.
in the left-handed batters box.
And the count is now two and one.
Nobody out, one on for the chargers.
As they look to take the lead here in the bottom of the fourth.
That ball's put into play sharply over to the third basement.
Third baseman realized it over to second.
And it's going to pull the throw from second
is going to pull the first baseman off the box.
J-6 is going to be safe on the fielder's choice.
Perotsky out at second.
The third basement, Leiford,
rifled it over to the second baseman Sam Clay,
Clay's throw was wild over to first base.
The first baseman Ait and Warren not able corral it.
We have Aaron Jasek on first base on the fielder's choice.
He's going to be safe.
We're going to break here as it appears we're going to have another pitching change for the Panthers.
Aaron Jasek reaches safely on the throwing air by Sam Clay.
And that's going to cause the Panthers to go to the.
the bullpen. Flanders is relieved of his duty as a pitcher.
Our leadoff man, Guard Swenson, going to face a new pitcher. That's going to be number 15.
Connor Applegan for the Panthers. Left-handed pitcher.
Applegant coming in with a 22.09 ERA as of today in 3.2.2.9.3 as of today in 3.2.
pitch so not a ton of experience so far this season Applegan and he's boasting an oh and one
a record hard throwing lefty let's see what kind of damage he can do the chargers have five runs
on seven hits two heirs and are tied with the visiting panthers who have five runs on four
heads one out going to be a runner on first that is jacic and the center field of guard swen
going to hold the stick for the chargers.
Chargers just got to get back to what they were doing in the bottom of that second.
Get runners on.
Nice base hits.
Don't have to push.
Just start taking control of this baseball game.
Applegant, standing at 6-1-205.
He's a senior from Northville, Michigan.
Attended Detroit Catholic Central.
Go Shamrocks before attending Kellogg's C.C.
Now, finding a home here with the Panthers.
6-1-205.
Stark difference from the Chargers pitchers we've been seeing.
Typically, 6-4 and above, not to say beanstalks,
but a little on the skinnier side of things.
The Chargers are long and lean on the pitching staff.
Panther's boasting a couple more stout guys.
Apekin got a little more muscle on it.
Being a senior and all, a lot of our pitchers today for the Chargers have been freshmen.
I haven't quite gotten that college weight room yet.
Young staff, young team for the Chargers.
Facing a slightly more experienced Panthers team.
Applegant, going to pitch from the stretch, left-handed pitcher,
sets the glove at the belt, deep breath, deals.
No, is going to pick off.
Trying to pick off J-SIC as he takes his lead over there.
He's going to check his wrist for the call.
Going to set, he's dealing to the left-handed batter.
guard Swenson high leg kick deals breaking ball high as Swenson watches it go by count is
one and O Swenson looking to jump on one here with one out one runner on Applegan gonna pick off
again these Panthers pitchers seem to really be worried by the Chargers on the base
pass as they look to gallop to the next base really quickly back to that mound all the
Panthers pitchers have worked rather quickly today.
Applegant, deep breath, high leg kick deals.
That's going to be inside, almost over the head of Swenson.
Swenson measures, digs into that left-handed batters box as he wiggles his bat
back behind his left ear.
Applegant, leg-kick pitches, deals.
That's going to be outside over in the right-handed batters box, and Swenson is up three-o.
Got to think you're going to make him throw you a strike here.
Not going to be chasing, make him throw his first strike.
Not necessarily the regular starters for the Panthers pitching today,
as that's going to be ball for outside. Applegant handed Swenson, another hall pass.
And he's going to try down down to first base, moving Jasek over to second.
Rocco Tenoino coming up at bat for the Chargers.
The third basement.
We're going to dig into the right-handed batters box.
As Applegan tries to stop the bleeding here, we have two on.
one out. Panthers and Chargers
tied here in the bottom
of the fourth 5-5.
Runners in motion, that's going to be a
pitch high. The catcher
is going to throw down to second
base and Swenson's going to be in there
safely. The ball
landed on the left side
of the bag there.
Swenson slid safely into the
right side and we have runners in scoring position
for Rocco Tanuto and the Chargers.
Great little
sign to steal the
bags there and we got runners in scoring position as Tanudo looks to
extend actually take the lead here for the Chargers and that's going to be
ball too. Applegan struggling to find the zone here as he pitches out of the stretch.
Tenuto, bat on the shoulder.
Maybe being advised to just watch these pitches go by.
Applegan going to deal, that's going to be a strike.
2-1 right down the heart of the plate there.
Nice pitch by Applegant.
Again, he's working fast.
out of the stretch lets the armed angle now he sets dealing from the left-handed side the pitchers mound there and thenuto's going to let that one go past three one little check swing by tanudo but the hands did not cross the plate has tenuto as a sign of the cross before he steps back into the batter's box maybe a little bit of divine intervention to hopefully bring in those runners for the chargers applican deals that's going to be a sharply hit ball out to center field going to be no problem for apple who's going to field it but jason
is going to tag the throw is into third base from apple and the chargers are going to score another run
sacrifice fly that's number two for tenuto he's driven in two runs as jacic crosses the point
the charges take the lead six to fold five really nice piece of aware hitting there he was patient
patient then got a run scored for the chargers applicant allows a run in his first batter faced
He's going to deal here as we got lefty on lefty with Nolan Copens
who's going to file one off on the first pitch over on the third base five
that's going to hit the screen right in front of us here.
Copens D-Hing today just hitting just got to worry about the man
that's in front of him on the mounds.
That's Applegan.
Applegant going to deal here.
That's going to be another foul ball by Copens over the left screen
as we sit here in the press box.
Guard Swenson going to take a lead from second.
Applegant, dealing from the stretch.
Takes a look back at second base.
Looks again, goes towards the plate.
That's going to be outside to Copens.
Count is one and two.
Two outs.
Bottom of the fourth.
Both teams have scored a run here in the fourth inning.
The Panthers down five to six to your chargers.
As Copens, looks to extend the lead as he digs into the left-handed batters box.
That's going to be a pitch.
And a strike swinging.
strikeout by Applegan gives up one. The Chargers take the lead, six to five against the visiting
Panthers. You're listening to Charger Baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7.

To TFO Partners Field, this is Reed Shoemaker, my partner, Aidan Kowatch.
Taking a quick break, so you're stuck with me. For now, as we see Skavarda, coming back in,
he's done a nice job after settling in for the Chargers, hoping to keep that going here as we start.
Now that in the first baseman, number 34, Aiden Warren.
The first baseman Aden Warren steps into the left-handed batters box.
Skavarda takes the bump.
Skavarda digs in, looks in, gets the signal.
The pitch.
Strike on the outside corner.
Welcome back, partner.
Thank you, Reed.
We are back here.
Chargers baseball.
Count is 0-1.
Skavada dealing.
That's going to be swung on by the Panthers batter.
and filed off to the first base dugout.
Aidan Warren hitting here for the Panthers.
Left-handed hitter, digging into the left-handed batters box,
waggles the bat behind him as Scovarta looks on.
Scovarda deals.
That's going to be inside.
One ball, two strikes now to Aiden Warn.
Scovarta working from the stretch.
He's done a nice job so far.
Let's see if he can continue it.
Big leg kick.
That ball is going to miss up.
And the count is now two and two.
it up to the first basement Warren. Skavardo looks in for the sign, collects himself, big leg
kick, and that's going to be inside again, full count here now. Warren has been working for it
and he gets rewarded with a full count. Let's see what he can do. Scovarda looking to put down the
first baseman. Skavarda, deep breath. That ball's going to be fouled off. Look at a win off of
Warren's leg potentially.
He's going to step out of the batter's box and collect himself as Skavarda.
I'm going to dig back onto that rubber.
Chargers up 6 to 5 as we are in the top of the fifth with the Panthers batting.
Skavarda, deep breath, delivers.
And that's going to be strike three.
Scovarda has been dealing nothing but K's as Warren strikes out on the breaking ball.
Yeah, Scovarta's really come in, done a nice job.
Settled his Chargers defense down.
Skavarda's pitched well.
Handful of strikeouts.
Chargers lead six to five.
Nobody on, nobody out.
As the Panthers number 16,
Travis Leiford, the third baseman, digs in.
That ball is going to be over top of Leiford as he gets his bat down and out of the way.
A little bit of a wild pitch there from Skavarta.
That's going to bring the count to one and now.
Scovarta sets.
From the stretch, the payoff.
That's going to be swung on and hit.
Tracking out to the left center field, Swenson's going to call off the left fielder,
and Swenson's going to make out there the play out there in center field.
We got two outs.
First kind of workout for the Chargers' fielders.
Not a ton of balls been in play today from the Panthers' bats.
As Fickman's called off by Swenson and left center field,
and Swenson secures it for the out.
That's going to bring up number five.
Ben Corson, the right fielder for the Panthers.
He's going to rest his bat on his right shoulder as Scafarda deals.
Scafarda.
Going to get called of the strike there.
Nice pitch over the outside part of the plate.
The count is 0 and 1.
Two outs.
Nobody on.
Scavada still working from the stretch here.
Everybody playing straight up for the Chargers defense.
That's going to be fanned at and missed by Ben Corson.
Bit of a wild looking swing there.
O'N2 now, two outs.
A little bit of a mix up there by Skavarda.
Corson wasn't expecting it, swung and missed.
Count O'N two.
Scovarta settles the payoff.
That's going to be bounced in front of the catcher Uihe
into the dirt.
Going to dribble back to the backstop.
Count is now one and two.
One ball, two strikes, two outs.
Nobody on.
As we're in the top of the fifth here, Corson settles himself.
Going to be sharply grounded up the middle.
Paraski is going to backhand it.
And nice play by Parrotsky as he backhanded the pitch up the middle.
And it tosses it over to first base for the out.
Corson grounds out to the second baseman.
And we're headed to the bottom of the fifth.

Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and this episode was requested by a grammar fan from Florida.
This episode, by the way, as you may have noticed, is free.
You're getting it for free.
Or are you?
The economist in me wants to say that it's not free.
It's zero cost, so there's one problem.
But the other problem, which is more relevant to grammar, is that free isn't a noun.
It's an adjective, meaning that it describes a noun.
and four is a preposition which must proceed a noun.
So for free is wrong because it's a preposition and not a noun.
This runs into all kinds of problems.
You want to say that you're listening to this episode for free,
so are you listening to this episode free or freely,
and does that even mean the same thing?
For Free is broadly accepted in modern English
and is even included in the Collins English Dictionary.
Personally, I think the distinction is interesting,
but I don't mind this expression at all.
That's your grammar minute.
And welcome back here to TFO Partners Field here at Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Your chargers up six to five on the visiting Davenport Panthers of the Great Lakes Conference.
As we head to the bottom of the fifth for the Panthers, Applegant is going to get the baseball again.
He's a left-handed pitcher working primarily from the strength.
stretch. And for your chargers, we're going to have Jake Fingman leading off the inning.
Palm City, Florida Beach product.
He's missing that warm weather right about now.
Yeah, I don't blame him. He wears some type of ski mask as he digs into the right-handed batters box.
Applegant is going to deal. That ball is going to be high. Upstairs.
Accountants now want to know.
Applegan working quickly. Out of the stretch. Again, delivering upstairs.
Figman, a shorter guy.
looking to compress that strike zone.
Applegant having a tough time finding it so far.
2-0 the count.
Applegant deals from the stretch.
That ball's going to be inside.
Figman works a 3-0 count.
Some great batter's eyes by the Chargers so far.
They've worked a number of walks.
Applegant going to deal again.
Big leg kick.
That's going to be in there for a strike,
caught the center of the plate.
Three and one now is the count to Figman.
Nobody on, nobody out.
Bottom of the fifth, Chargers lead six-five.
Applegan, upstairs the delivery, and Figman's going to get a haul pass.
Heading down to first base is Jake Figman.
Will Lehman is going to come up.
As Kevin Tidy, the Panthers head coach, is going to head out and try to settle down his senior pitcher.
And never mind, Tidy's going to call for an arm out of the bullpen.
We have another pitching change for the Panthers.
A new arm for the charges to face, a new arm for them to adjust to.
Let's see if they can keep those bats hot today.
You need it on a day like today.
The wind is whipping.
The stars and stripes out there in center field blowing straight in.
Overcast day.
The LEDs are on here at Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium for the Panthers and the Chargers.
It appears we got number 30.
On the mound for the Panthers.
Excuse me.
No, that is correct.
Number 30.
It's A.J. Park.
He's this is 43.
We have A.J. Park.
For the Panthers.
I'm going to take the bump.
Listed as number 43, but rocket number 30 today.
She just want to switch it up, maybe.
And I respected maybe a little bit of a change of pace.
A.J. Park has appeared four times this season.
12-3-8 ERA.
Eight innings pitched.
Ten hits, 11 runs.
Ten balls.
Sorry.
Ten walks on ball.
Ten walks, nine strikeouts for A.J. Park.
Right-handed pitcher standing in that 6-3-220s, a freshman from Geneson,
Michigan, go wildcats.
A little bit of a change of pace, rocked the green in high school, wearing the red the day.
The Evanport pitchers have struggled a little bit with control, partner.
What do you think about that?
I mean, it's tough.
You want to try and blame it on this cold weather, but a lot of these guys,
grew up in Michigan. You'd hope they'd be used to it. Spring baseball in Michigan is a fickle mistress.
Indeed.
Often showing you her worst and her best. All within the same day.
Part of the joy of living in beautiful Hillsdale, Michigan, as we got Will Lehman, the Texan,
maybe used to a little bit of warmer weather, but he's going to dig into the right-handed batters box now as Figman takes his lead from first.
Park's going to deal from the stretch. That's going to be a strike. Oh, and one.
Nobody out, one on for the Chargers.
They're leading the Panthers six to five.
As the first baseman Will Lehman,
bats, that's going to be filed off, right behind us on the screen here.
Park attacking the zone early, count as 0 and 2 to the first baseman,
Will Lehman.
He had that extra base hit to spark the Chargers rally in the bottom of the second.
Let's see if he can do the same here.
Figman adjust that first.
Lehman again going to file it off to the first base.
side. Park working a little bit slower than some of the other Davenport pitchers.
Still working pretty quickly, though, trying to get on top of these Hillsdale chargers.
Park deals. That's going to be a ball outside over in the left-handed batters box.
Lehman is facing a one-and-two count here. Part still working from the stretch.
Checks over his left shoulder at first base. The pitch, swung on by Lehman and missed.
Looked like a breaking ball down in the bottom of the zone.
Couldn't find the barrel of layman's bat.
He's going to talk to his teammate over there,
maybe give him a little bit of instruction before.
And we have a new batter to the game.
Tyler Sowers, hailing from Wheaton, Illinois.
He's going to get his first hacks of the contest.
Some good breaking balls there by Park.
He looks like he's going to replace Tyler Turner out in right field.
throw over from Park trying to catch Figman asleep and Figman is able to scamper back to first base on a bit of a off target throw from Parks over to the first baseman.
Sowers, a little bit of a rock at the bat here before he digs in.
Parks is going to deliver. That's going to be a ball outside.
Count is 1-0. We got one out, one on for the chargers.
Figman standing guard over there at first base. Sowers over in the right-handed batters box.
Park on the mound for the Panthers.
Parks going to deal here.
That's going to be a ball low.
It looked to be a breaking ball from Parks.
He attacked the zone early against Lehman,
has found a little bit of trouble here against Sowers.
Two and out, one on for the Chargers.
Parks is going to deliver.
That's going to be fouled off by Sowers.
Look to jump on something.
It was fouled off to the screen over on the first base side.
Good cut there from Sowers coming in.
No nerves.
Swung at that pitch real good.
good.
Looks like Sowers' muscles are warmed up and he's anxious to jump on one here.
Parker's going to set.
Parks is going to deliver the pitch and that's going to be followed off again by Sowers.
A.J. Park has done a great job battling back here in this count.
Count is two and two now.
To number 21, Tyler Sowers.
Sowers awaiting the pitch from Park.
It's going to be low and he has worked a full count here.
Full count to Sowers.
One on, one out.
Park going to dig in, tow the rubber, checks over his left shoulder at the base runner Figman.
Sowers swings, that's again going to be fouled off.
Some good fight from the young man out there.
As Parks is going to receive the ball from the catcher, and he's going to tow the rubber again,
looking to take down the batter Sowers.
Real good battle so far.
Great little duel out there, a chess match, if you will.
As Park, the pitcher for the Panthers, going to take.
a deep breath and he's going to deliver Sowers Sauer's going to check swing look like it caught
just a little bit of that bat and it was followed off to the first base side a little bit of
a hesitant swing there from Sowers fouled it off and the count's going to stay three and two
Park working off the right edge of the rubber there he's going to set and he's going to deliver
that's going to be a ball low hands out a free base his Sowers is going to trot down to first
Figman's going to trot over to second.
A little bit of control issues for Parking that at bat.
And it's going to bring up Ryan Weehee.
Great at bat from Sowers there.
Really worked it.
Really worked it.
For his first at bat of the day, fouled off a few pitches, got to see a few.
Sowers, base for free.
Sowers off the bench, looking sharp, worked a walk,
as A.J. Park is going to deal again for the Panthers.
Deep breath, working from the stretch to the batter,
Weehee.
Weehe's going to watch a ball go.
by that's going to be a called strike maybe a breaking ball in the first pitch as we he's going to look
down and take instructions from the third base coach count as o one runner on first and second one out here
for the chargers as wee stands like a statue in the batter's box and he's going to watch another pitch go
by however that one's going to be a ball we got ones across the scoreboard one ball one strike one out
runners on first and second as a j park works the mound for the panthers
Back into the stretch.
Sets, delivers.
That's going to be a called strike.
Maybe caught a little bit of the black on the outside of the part of the plate.
Wehi rolls his eyes in disagreement,
but he's going to dig back in there to face the one-two pitch from A.J. Park.
Runners take their lead off first and second.
Wehee's going to swing and follow that one back on the screen over here.
A.J. Park still attacking the zone, looking to take down Weehe and avoid any of the damage.
Runners on first and second.
One out.
as wehi digs into the right-handed batters box and waits to pitch from park
Park checks the runner at second high leg kick delivers that's going to be a ball low nice stop there
by the panthers catcher paienski making sure the runners don't advance on the low ball from
park we he going to settle into the right-handed batters box stretches back that's going to be
outside for park and we
he's got himself a full count.
Another good battle here from the Chargers.
Getting into those high counts.
Seeing a lot of pitches.
The Chargers are seeing a lot of pitches.
Weehee going to settle in to the right-handed batters box.
Parks going to deliver that's going to be filed off over the dugout from Wehi.
Maybe a little bit laid on it as he files it over the first base side.
Yeah, seeing all these pitches is huge for those guys in the dugout for the Chargers.
Some smart guys in there
The Chargers dug out.
Hopefully can they teach their teammates
What Park is delivering?
Park going to shove here.
That's going to be a ball low.
And we got the bases loaded for the Hillsdale Chargers.
Ryan Weehe is going to work a walk.
And Park has got himself in a jam here.
Pawinsky going to call time here.
The pitching coach for the Panthers is going to head out.
Try to calm down.
on his pitcher, the young kid from
J. Michigan. A.J. Park.
Some great offense by the
Chargers, whether it's hits or walks.
They found themselves on the base pass quite a bit
today. That's the name of the game.
At the end of the day, whether it's
walks, whether it's hits. You get on base,
put pressure on pitchers. They might make
mistakes.
Park going to stay out there for
the Panthers.
Karatsky up here to bat.
From Cincinnati, Ohio.
Another Midwest kid he's used to this weather.
Billy Paraski has two singles on the day.
Let's see if he can do another.
There's three ducks on the pond for the chargers.
Runners on first, second and third, one out.
As we're in the bottom of the fifth here,
Park's going to deal, and that's going to cross the plate right across the letters for a strike.
Parachky settles back, cowing that back line of the right-handed batters box.
Park going to work from the stretch.
He's going to deliver.
That's going to be a ball low.
Another good stop by.
by the panther's catcher.
He's getting his workout back there.
Park going to check its pitch calm,
settle into the stretch, deep breath.
Paraski's going to see the pitch.
He's going to swing out of it that's going to be followed off right behind us here.
As Paraski is down, one, two.
Let's see what Paraski can do.
He's had the hot bat today.
Looking to face the pitch from A.J. Park.
A.J. Park delivers.
That's going to be a ball outside.
Cross the plate over in the left-handed batters box.
two balls two strikes one out the bases are juiced as the charges are up six to five here on the panthers
park going to take a deep breath he's going to deliver that's going to be skied over to the first base side
and out of play the first baseman for the panthers aidan warren gave chase tried to climb the wall
lost his hat but not able to corral the baseball as it landed in foul territory poensky
Wenski also gave chase.
The Chargers looked to capitalize on a basis-loaded situation.
The pitch, that's going to catch Perotsky.
Maybe caught him on the back there.
That's going to be a hit by pitch.
Park delivered one that was too far inside.
Caught a piece of Paraski, and the Chargers score another run.
Just taking advantage of their opportunities.
The Chargers not trying to push too hard.
They're taking what the Panthers are giving them,
which is right now a lot of free bases.
The West Michigan kid, Aaron Jasek here, facing another West Michigan kid in A.J. Park for the Panthers. The bases are juiced, one out as Aaron Jasek digs in to the right-handed batters box. Park's going to deal here. That one's going to get past Pawinsky a wild pitch, and the charges are going to score another run. Tyler Sowers, scampers from third base on the wild pitch delivered by A.J. Park is going to skip past the outstretch arm of Pawinsky, and the charges are going to take an 8-5 lead.
seeing another pitching change here most likely
Kevin Tidy
the skipper for the panther is going to take
a nice walk over there
to the mound and it looks like we're going to have
another pitching change for the panthers
lots of miscues for the panthers so far
couple of airs some wild pitches
couple of walks
and the charges are up eight to five
real good from the charges
got down early for nothing after those first two innings five in the second one in the fourth
two in the fifth so far and they're just clawing their way back and now they're looking to really
extend this lead really put the pedal down not reach for anything and make these davenport pitchers
throw strikes which they haven't in a while we'll see what the new davenport pitcher can bring
to the table trying to get a number for you it is number 28 Brandon
Scorupsky.
Left-handed pitcher here for the Panthers.
Number 28 here.
He's going to face a bases loaded situation,
a bit of a jam that his buddies have worked them into.
We're going to have one out.
And the bottom of the fifth for the Chargers
who have the bases loaded with Aaron Jasek up at bat.
And Davenport just trying to find somebody
throw consistent strikes.
I mean, the day like today, it's cold, a little bit of wind.
Everybody's in long sleeves, jackets if they're not out on the field.
You've got to think it's maybe just hard to grip the ball or not used to playing on the turf field, maybe.
Not sure what's going on for the Panthers pitchers, but the charges have capitalized, putting up eight runs.
Skorupski is rocking a 9.0 ERA is 2-1 on the season and 10 appearances.
13 total innings pitch
giving up 22 hits
13 runs all of them earned
6 walks 15 strikeouts
hitters have hit
386 against him
let's see if the charges can capitalize
a little bit lower on that
walks on the walks
for him compared to some of the other
Davenport pitchers we've seen today as far as stats
go thinking
Davenport just kind of wants to
maybe allow the charges to get the ball and play
let their defense work
certainly a thought don't know what's going on in the mind of kevin tidy in this out of conference game
but he's facing an eight five deficit jacic
gonna tow the line of the batters box here now he's up one oh one out
runners on second and third that's going to be a strike
one and one on jacic now we got one out runners on second and third
let's see if he can capitalize scrupsey
going to tease that one in there for a strike.
Jasek didn't like the call, and he's facing a one and two count because of it.
Skorupski going to check his pitch calm.
Into the stretch, he settles, deals.
That's going to be a ball low into the dirt.
Runner stay put.
Two and two count to Jasek.
One and one, excuse me, two and two with one out.
Runners on second and third as Jasek waggles his bat high above his head.
Scorupsky going to step off the mound.
Maybe didn't look what he was seeing there.
They're going to take a date breath, shake the arm out,
and he's going to tow the rubber again here.
We're in the bottom of the fifth.
The chargers lead the Panthers, 8 to 5,
as Braden Skorupski charges for the mound.
That's going to be ball put in play.
Going to be fielded by the third baseman in the dirt,
and J-Sick is going to be safe at first base.
That's just not what you need if you're the Panthers.
Travis Leiford.
Had a little bit trouble handling the ball and threw it in the dirt over to the first baseman.
Warren could not scoop it cleanly.
And there's another run across for the Chargers.
We got runners at first and third now, one out on the air by Leifford.
Guard Swenson can dig into the left-handed batters box now for the Chargers.
Back to the top of the order.
That's going to be a breaking ball from Skorupski, and that's going to cross the plate as a strike.
O'N won the count now.
to Swanson.
Guard Swenson has been hitting the ball well for the charges of the season.
It's going to be a pickoff move as Skorupski tosses it over to the first baseman,
trying to keep Jason in control over there on the base pass.
Don't need any wild horses running around if you're the Panthers.
Scurupsi, working from the stretch deals.
That's going to be filed off by Swenson over the third base dugout,
and he's going to be quickly down 02.
Scorupsky's got a good job, got the ground ball on the first battery.
faced. There was an air by the third
baseman Leiford to
allow JASIC to reach safely
and he's up O2 now here.
Quick pickoff move
over to JASIC.
Scrupsi seems to be a little bit concerned by him.
Not real urgency in the pickoff
move as he sets into the stretch now.
Swenson awaits the pitch.
Going to be a curveball. Hit out over there to left field.
The runner looks to tag
and Parano.
He's going to score as he tags from third base.
A sacrifice fly by Swenson, and it's going to give your chargers another run.
JASIC advances to second on the same sacrifice fly, and Swenson's got an RBI.
Rocco Tenooto, looking to driving that last run here for the chargers.
They're leading 10 to 5 in the bottom of the fifth with two outs.
Nice little piece of hitting on the breaking ball by Swenson to drive in the run.
Scurupsie's going to deal here to Tenuto, and that's going to be a fastball across the
part of the plate for a strike. Jasek going to take his league out there at second base,
short lead for the short stop. That scurups. He takes a look back at him and now deals to Tenoido.
That ball's going to be in the dirt. Pawensky's going to block it. Look like it landed underneath him.
Jasek thought about going to third, but he's going to stay put. No point in taking a risk here,
especially he's already in scoring position over there at second base.
One in one to one to count to Teno. The stocky third baseman for the chargers.
Deals, pitches. That's going to be upstairs a ball. Two and one now the count to Tenoido.
Scrupsi, been a little sporadic with the pitch location. Going to check his pitch com as he's working from the stretch here.
J-stick the runner at second base. Scrupsi, quick pitches, deals. Looks like it caught Tenoodle off of
balance as he was a little bit ahead of that pitch. Swinging a miss for Tenoo, evens
the count now at two and two. We got twos across the scoreboard. Count is two and two.
outs, runner on second base. Jaseick dancing
behind Scurrupsi over there at second base.
Scurrupsi pitches, deals. A base hit
up the middle in between the first
and second baseman in shortstop.
A fake cutoff by the first baseman, and
Jsick's going to score from second base
sharply hit. Line drive
for Tenoob, found the gap over there
over top of second base,
and Tenoo reaches with a
single, and J6's
going to cross the plate to put their charges up
11 to 5.
A real good piece of hitting there.
You got two strikes on you.
Put one right down the heart of the field.
Score your guy from second base,
and all of a sudden the chargers look dominant in this one.
We have Carson Tucker, the Kentucky in,
stepping into the batters box for the chargers.
He's going to take a first pitch breaking ball,
strike in there for Skorupski.
Who's going to work quickly now from the stretch?
To noodle over at first base,
He had the RBI single.
That's going to be a ball in the dirt.
Tenuto's going to take off.
And a no throw from the catcher.
Great little piece of base running by Tanudo to advance.
That was a ball in the dirt.
Pawinsky not able to completely handle that.
Stopped it, but Tenua advances in the wild pitch.
Skrupski now dealing.
And that's going to be a strike right down the center of the plate.
Tucker watched it go by, and he's quickly down one and two.
Tucker,
the bench pinch hitting down one to scurupski the pitch that's going to be low works a two-two
count here let's see if Tucker can advance a lead got one duck on the pond that's
tenudo out there at second base charges lead 11 to 5 as scurupsky deals that's going to be
another ball going to trickle between the legs of Tucker as it careened off the mid of the
catcher count is full now three and two
two outs, runner on second, that's Tenuto, as Carson Tucker digs into the right-handed batters box.
Skorupsky pitches, that's going to be followed off right behind Tucker.
He's battling in there with a full count.
Two outs, runner on second.
The Davenport Panthers shifted slightly over to the right, looking to take away.
Any contact by Tucker, and he's going to draw a walk.
Scurupsky struggling to find the.
zone here and that's going to put another runner on for the chargers.
Panthers are just struggling to find the strides zone here.
Walks will pay you. Don't like giving out anything free.
Got to make them earn it. And hopefully Jake Figman can earn one here.
Two outs. Runners on first and second for the chargers.
Skorupski deals. That's going to get Bahamaski.
And the runners are going to advance.
Tenoodle, rounds third base, going to stay put there.
As Tucker's safely into second, Tenoido advances to third.
Pawensky getting a work out there behind the dish.
As Skorupski puts one in the dirt, careens off the chest.
Now we got Jake Figman digging in.
Count as 1-0.
That's going to be a sharply hit ground ball over to second base,
gloved cleanly by the second baseman delivered to first.
And Jake Figman is going to be out on a ground out to second.
Another big inning by the Chargers.
They put up five in the bottom of the fifth.
inning is ended by a clay to warn ground out and now we head to the top of the six as the
Chargers look to hold the Panthers at five the score is 11 to 5 your Chargers lead you're listening to

Stephen McCullough is found guilty of murdering his pregnant girlfriend in December
of 2022. The YouTuber who went by the name Vote Saxon 07 told his followers that he was going to play
Grand Theft Auto Vicetti at 6 p.m. local time live on stream. But it turns out that was a lie. The six
hour live stream was really pre-recorded and programmed to go live at that time. That's when he
murdered his pregnant girlfriend. He arrived at her house somewhere around 9 p.m., stabbed,
strangled and blood in her, and he returns back home, caught on video much of the way in disguise.
Eventually, he calls the police in the U.K. and pins the murder on an axe.
After being found guilty in a Northern Ireland court, he faces life in prison.
A Facebook page remains with almost 3,000 followers as of the time of this recording, but the YouTube page has been deleted.
Amen Dignam, Fox News.
Welcome back to Hillsdale College Charger Baseball.
as we got some unfortunate news coming out of the Phoenix area.
Your Detroit Tigers dropped a close one to the Arizona Diamondbacks won nothing.
Luckily, the charges are up here, leading 11 to 5 against the visiting Davenport Panthers.
Number 22, Justin Johnson going to dig in.
Scavarda still has the ball for the chargers.
He's going to work from the stretch.
Big leg kick deal.
Justin Johnson going to pull back.
on the bunt attempt there as the ball was low.
A little small ball maybe for the Panthers
trying to get some runners on the base paths.
Johnson digs in as Scafarda deals.
That's going to be inside.
Johnson turns his back to avoid being hit.
And he's going to adjust himself now
before settling back into the batters box.
He has a favorable count.
Two balls, no strikes.
Nobody out, nobody on.
Scovarda gonna deal that one's gonna stripe the plate right across the letters and it's a strike from Scovarta
Count is 2 and 1 now to the D.H Justin Johnson
Scovarta deals that's gonna be sharply hit over to the first base side and it's gonna be foul
Luckily for Scovarta that ball had a little bit of oomph behind it
Over into right field gonna be a foul ball from Johnson and it's gonna even the count at two and two
Scovarta has pitched well here allowing just one run
Let's see if he can continue that dominance as he now deals from the stretch.
The pitch is going to be a softly hit ground ball out to Jasek at shortstop.
He's going to deliver it over to Lehman and Johnson is out.
Great play, routine play by Jasek, gathered the short hop and fired it over to Lehman.
We got one out as the Chargers lead.
The Panthers 11 to 5 here in the top of the 6.
He's done a great job for the Chargers.
far. Now he's going to face the sharp
shortstop
for the Panthers Julian Contreras
who's going to take a ball.
Escobarta paints the outside corner
with his first pitch there. Count is
0-1-1. Contreras
has gotten a work out there
over at shortstop, flash the leather
a little bit, a couple of nice plays for him.
Let's see what he can do in the batters box. Scovarta deals.
It's going to be a sharply hit
line drive. It's going to
pop over the dugout
over there on the third base side.
And Scavada is quickly ahead.
O and 2.
Scafarda has really jumped on these hitters.
Not a lot of ton of walks.
He's been dealing well.
He's going to pitch here.
That ball's going to be filed off by Contreras just inside the first base coach
down the first baseline.
Again, O2.
Contrera is trying to battle here against Scavarta,
who's been quite sharp today.
Skavarta over on that left-handed side of the rubber.
Pitching from the stretch.
Bends that back legs and fires.
That's going to be a ball low.
Wehee going to toss it back now to Skavarda.
Chargers defenders playing pretty straight up in the outfield.
No real shift against Contreras.
Contreras waits the pitch from Skavarta.
Skavada high leg kick.
Swing and a mess.
Wehi's going to throw it down to first to confirm the batter was out.
And Skavada with another strikeout swinging on Contreras.
Skavada looks good.
The 6-5-170 freshman.
Coming in here and shutting things down.
Tall lengthy kid has been throwing in some missiles
and the Panthers haven't been able to handle it.
That's going to bring up the second baseman,
Sam Clay for the Panthers as he digs into the right-handed batters box
facing the locked-in Scobarda
as that one's going to be in the ball
just in the dirt there from Skavarda
and going to bounce off to the backstop.
One ball no strikes to Clay.
they're trailing 11 to 5 here as scovarta pitches that's going to be followed off the back screen here evens a count-up one-on-one
clay looked to jump on one there followed it off from scovarta as he digs back into the batters box
clay slight waggle to bat scovarta still like a statue now he delivers that's going to be in there for a strike caught the inside corner
really nice breaking ball scovartas looked like picasso out there painting the corners doing the corners
doing quite well for the chargers.
Skavarda gets the signal.
Now settles.
The payoff.
That's going to be lined over into right field.
Sowers is going to trot in and make the nice play.
And that's going to send us into the bottom of the six.
Sowers flashed a little bit of the weather out there in right field.
And Skavarda has a gem going for them.

We have another pitching change here for the Panthers.
Lucas Call taking the mound.
Bit of a bullpen game for the Panthers.
They've used a bunch of different arms.
The right-handed pitching call.
19.64 ERA coming in.
Another high ERA for the Panthers.
He's had four appearances so far,
rocking an O&2 record.
Started two of those games.
Three point two innings pitched.
Three hits, ten runs.
Ader runs and 11 walks.
Let's see if the charges can extend their lead.
They're leading here 11 to 5 as we head to the bottom of the 6.
They've taken care of business so far.
It looks quite sharp.
The bats have been good.
And so has the defense.
Will Lehman up at bat now.
The first baseman.
Looking to start off the inning here for the Chargers.
He'll face Lucas call.
Who also was working from the stretch.
Going to take a deep breath and sweat as Lehman crouches in his stance.
Going to be a sharply hit ball over the first base dugout foul
as Lehman looked to jump on the first pitch there and followed it off.
Call looks to get the Panthers back on track here,
hopefully limit this potent Chargers offense here today.
The pitch.
Layman's going to wave at that one a bit outside,
and that's going to be another strike.
count as O and two.
Lehman really looking to jump on one here
maybe a little bit too aggressive.
Call toes the rubber.
Takes a deep breath
as he looks to go to home plate.
Leg kick pitch.
That's going to be grounded to the shortstop, Contreras,
and he's going to fire it over to the first baseman
who climbs the ladder.
Foot stays on the bag and Lehman is out at first.
Nice play by Aidan Warren there to go up.
and get that a little bit of a high throw from Contreras on the play as Lehman tried to hustle down to
first base and beat that one out. Call already taking a little bit more time between pitches,
maybe trying to throw the charges off and maybe just a little more natural for him to take a breath.
Tyler Sowers, who replaced Tyler Turner out there in right field up at Bat now,
rocking the number 21. Bat waggles over his right shoulder.
Going to watch the first pitch go by from Call.
that was right over the heart of the plate
and it would be taking to strike one
count his own one one out
nobody on as the bottom of the six
for the chargers
defense playing straight up
slightly in over there and left field
as Sowers awaits the pitch from call
call is going to kick and deal
that's going to be sharply hit over to second base
and caught by Clay over there at second base
Sowers put a little bit of a charge into that one
but unfortunately found the bottom of the basket from Clay
there's going to be two outs now as tallers sowers lines out to second base that's going to bring up
a ryan wehi the catcher see what he can do to maybe spark a two-out rally for the chargers
and this is exactly what the panthers needed just someone to come in and throw strikes let their defense work
the charge strike everybody out the chargers have been hot with the bat but finding a little bit of a cold streak
here as called deals to wee he and that's going to catch the outside part of the plate for a strike
Old Man Winter has kind of flared his head here
with temperatures ranging in the 40s for this contest.
Wehee's going to dig into the back of the right-handed batters box.
Slightly crouched stanch as call pitches.
Swinging a miss.
Big hack by Weehee, hopefully trying to put that one over the wall and he missed.
Call has thrown a lot of strikes here, kind of changing the tides.
The Chargers have 11 walks so far,
but it looks like they're going to have to work for their money a little bit.
That's going to be a sharp hit up the middle of the infield for Wihi.
He's going to round first base, and he's going to be in there with a single.
Great piece of hitting by Wihi sent that one right back where it came from.
Up the middle, and that's going to bring up Billy Paratsky.
Yeah, a lot of examples today from the Chargers are some good two-strike hitting.
They've shortened their swings up, put some balls in play.
We still got two outs, run around first.
That's Wehi as Paratski digs into the batters box.
Clay looks over his shoulder, surveys the runner deals.
That's on a big hop over to Parat.
The third baseman and Paras is going to be gunned down at first base.
Lyman made a nice play over there.
Leifert, excuse me, made a nice play over there for the Panthers at third base,
fired over to the first baseman.
Chargers still lead as we head to the top of the seventh, 11 to 5.

Welcome back to Chargers baseball. As the Chargers lead to visiting Panthers 11 to 5, an old Gliac foe,
located up there in Caledonia, Michigan, they made the drive down today
as the Chargers have a little midweek action
and look to improve on their 11 and 14 record.
They're currently leading 11 to 5 as we head to the top of the 7th.
Isaac Skavarda, the Kalamazoo, Michigan kid.
Going to get the ball again.
He's been dealing so far, the right-handed pitcher.
He's going to face the heart of the order here for the Panthers,
who are looking to get it back on track, score a couple more runs as Wyatt Eppel.
The center fielder steps into the right-handed batters box.
Skavardi going to deal.
That ball is going to be outside ball one.
Countless 1-0 to Apple, who's been playing center field here for the Panthers.
He's done a nice job out there so far.
Skavarda going to deal now.
That's going to be in there for a strike right down the pipe.
great pitch by Skavarda to tie the count one and one.
Apple digs into the back of the batters box.
Skavarda from the stretch, settles in, and delivers.
That's going to be low into the dirt.
Ball two, count as two and one.
Nobody out, nobody on.
As the Panthers look to cut into this 11 to 5 deficit here in the top of the seventh.
Scovarta, the pitch.
It's going to be fouled off by Apple over the first base.
out. He looks a little disappointed in himself.
Was trying to jump on that pitch.
Now he's going to face a two-two count from Skavarda,
who was struck out a fair number of the Panthers today.
Skavarda settles in.
The wind up the pitch.
That's going to be grounded back to Skavarda, who's going to glove it,
and is just going to flip it over to Lehman at first base,
and Eppel is retired.
A nice easy routine play for Skavarda,
some weak contact off the handle of the bat there from Eppel.
and the Chargers have a first out of the inning here in the bottom or the top of the seventh.
Just impressed, impressed, sorry, with Skavarda so far.
I mean, has come in.
Chargers needed a little bit of a spark defensively and he delivered.
Scovarta has appeared seven times so far.
This is his ace and it's been a gem so far.
He's going to deal here.
That ball's going to be high to Justin Johnson, the DH for the Panthers.
Johnson has been hitting really well this season, but not much success against the Chargers.
Hopefully don't jinx it.
Skavarda is going to give him a little chin music.
That one was a bit too far inside.
Going to be ruled a ball.
Johnson saw that one up at his eyes turned away to avoid getting hit.
And Skavada is going to have a 2-0 count.
Skavada deals here.
That's going to be a line drive into left field, and it's going to go off the glove of Figman.
Figman maybe thought the ball was going to be dropping out in front of him.
He had to really get on his horse there, stuck up his glove in the air,
and an attempt to stab the ball, and it popped off his glove.
Going to be an air on Figman out there in left field,
and Johnson's going to reach first base.
Yeah, just misread it off the bat.
Initially started coming in, and then, like you said,
really had to turn and burn to try and get that.
Skavarda going to dig in now.
Open to control the damage.
that's going to be a ball outside to Jeff Agar, excuse me.
That's going to be Dylan Polensky, the catcher for the Panthers.
He's the fourth hitter, Skowarda facing the heart of the order here for the Panthers.
He's going to work from the stretch.
Deals, that's going to be right down the center of a plate.
Nice velocity on that pitch.
I can hear the pop up here.
And now he's got a one-one count to the Panthers catcher.
Justin takes his lead over at first base.
He reached on the air by Figman.
That ball is going to be popped over the first base dugout, going to be foul.
And we got a one two count, one out, one on.
As Dylan Polensky tries to get the Panthers back into this contest.
Skavar does a nice drop controlling the damage so far.
He's working from the stretch.
He sets, deep breath, deals.
That's going to be a ball outside, crossed over in the left-handed batters box,
there counts even now at two and two.
Scavarda done a nice job this afternoon.
We're going to look over his left shoulder at the runner Johnson.
He's going to deal here.
That's going to be a ball low.
Full count to Polensky here.
Maybe a little trouble for Skavarda.
There's a arm up in the Hillsdale Chargers bullpen.
Could be seeing a pitching change here soon.
Hopefully Skavada can get the second out and help his buddies out.
Scovarta going to deal here.
The payoff, that's going to be followed off by Pawlensky.
nice piece of hitting just caught a little bit of his barrel and fouled directly behind him.
The runner at first is Johnson. There's one out, full count. And in the top of the seventh year,
Chargers lead 11 to 5. Scobartha shakes off his catcher. Now likes the sign, looks over his left
shoulder deals. That's going to be a sharply hit ball over to Tanuto. Tenuto's going to spear it.
Diving stop by Tanudo tried to flip it over to Perotsky at second. And Johnson's going to be
be safe. We got runners at first and second now on the infield single for the Panthers. We got one
out. And Tom Vasella is going to take a walk out to talk to his young pitcher. Looks like we might
have another pitching change. Skowarda has done a magnificent job. Only gave up one run in the
fourth since we're leaving Tobin. It appears they're trying to get the,
that arm warm down there in the bullpen.
The charges have done a nice job so far of limiting this potent panthers offense.
Lots of hitters over in the 300s for the Panthers, but they have only five hits today.
Skavard is going to stay out there.
Skippers trusting his young arm that's got him this far.
Runners on first and second for Aden Warren, the first basement for the Panthers,
as he digs into the left-handed batters box facing the right-handed pitching.
Scovarta.
Scovardo working from the stretch.
The pitch.
You're going to be outside.
1-0.
1-out.
Runners on first and second.
The Panthers looking to cut into this Chargers lead
as Aiden Warren digs into the left-handed batters box again.
Scovarta the 1-0.
And that's going to be low in the dirt,
leaving that arm out to his right side there,
leading to some pitches in the right.
hindered batters box. Aiden
Warren hasn't offered at one yet.
His bat's on his shoulder as he now
waggles it. Skavar to the pitch.
That's going to be a towering fly ball.
Tenuto and Figman
converging on it and it's going to go off
the
light pole over there behind
the third base dugout foul.
The count was two and one
now to Aidan Warren.
One out. Runners on first
and second with Scavarda
towing the rubber for the chargers.
He's been amazing this far.
Really separated the charges
allowed him to get this big lead.
Skowarda settles in,
takes a deep breath.
High leg kick deals.
That's going to be sharply hit off the glove of Lehman.
Diving attempt by Lehman couldn't spear it.
The ball was into right field.
And Johnson is going to score for the Panthers,
putting the score at 11 to 6.
Panthers cut into the early league.
a sharply hit ball by Warren.
Lehman laid out for it off the bottom of his glove,
trickled over there into right field.
Sowers corralled it.
By that point, the Davenport runner had already scored.
Runners on first and second now for the Panthers.
As Travis Leiford digs into the right-handed batters box for the Panthers,
he's looking to dig into this lead again.
The pitch for Skavarda are going to be outside and low.
So seems to be losing a little bit of his early game command here,
maybe getting a little bit fatigued.
Let's see if he can stay on top of these panthers, batters,
and get a couple of quickouts and get us out of this inning.
Runners on first and second.
Skavarda's going to look back at second base.
Peaks again.
Now delivers to home.
And that's going to be a strike right down the center of the plate.
Good pitch by Skavarda to even the count at one-and-one.
One ball, one strike, one out.
Askevarda, toes the rubber for your Hillsdale,
Chargers. Runners on first and second. Travis Leifford in the box for the Davenport Panthers.
Going to be a pickoff move and the runner's going to be in there safely.
That was Dylan Polensky sliding back in there and he's going to be safe at second base.
Skavarda may be trying to control the Panthers on the base pass.
Don't want to get them in the running position. Currently a runner on first and second. Count is
one and one out to Travis Leifford.
That's going to be a fastball right down the middle.
Great pitch by Skavarda.
And that's going to be a one and two count now to Travis Leiford.
Counts one and two, one out.
Skavarda has been dealing so far, a little trouble in paradise.
Let's see if you can get out of this gym.
The payoff.
That's going to be hammered down the left field line.
Figman giving chase out there in left field.
As the runners cross home plate, there's another one.
J-Sick is going to toss the ball into home.
It's going to hit off the foot of Aden Warren.
He's going to be in there safely.
And on the throw, Travis Leiford advances to third base.
A couple of runs on that triple by Travis Leifford.
As the Panthers have three runs here in the top of the seventh.
Chargers only leading 11 to 8 now.
And it appears that Scravada's day is going to be done.
Paged real well so far.
Let's see who we got coming in out of the bullpen for the Chargers.
Round of applause from the Hillsdale Faithless.
Skavarda exits the game.
He did really well there in the early innings, but gave up three here.
Nate Albany is going to enter the game for the Chargers, number 16.
Coming in, looking to kind of calm the Chargers nerves.
Excuse me, it's number six.
Nate Albany's.
He's from Ohio.
Might be associated with the Albany's Gummy Bear Empire.
Not sure about that.
But he's going to come in here and try to deliver something sweet to the Chargers
as they are holding on to an 11 to 8 lead here in the top of the 7th.
There's a runner on third base for the Chargers, or for the Panthers, excuse me.
as Leiford hit a sharp line drive down the third base line.
Might have been the hardest ball we've seen all day.
The exit velo looked pretty good on that one.
It was boot scooting and boogieing down the third base line as Figman gave chase to it.
And the Panthers have suddenly right back in this ballgame.
Yeah, and I mean, Chargers just got to start throwing some more strikes again.
Skavarda seemed to, like you said earlier, in this cold,
It's tough to stay out there for a long period of time and continue to throw strikes.
So just got to come in, throw strikes, let your defense flash the leather a little bit.
Skavarda got down on a couple of counts there in the top of the seventh inning,
allowed the Panthers to jump on a couple of balls as the Panthers' dugouts playing a little bit of hacky sack as Albinese warms up.
We got Ben Corson going to step into the batters box for the Panthers as he looks to drive in his buddy.
Travis Leiford who's taking a nice lead over there at third base.
Albany's pitching from the stretchy deals.
That's what it would be all outside going to get past Wehi.
Wehee's going to get back a scramble to the plate and he's out.
What a hustle play by Ryan Weehe.
The ball was outside, scampered past his mitt, bounced off of the wall.
and Wehee stormed back to the plate to catch Leiford out.
Nice tag on the hand.
Tidy's coming out to argue it with the umpire.
He says that that left hand might have caught the base
and the umpire sends him back to the dugout disappointed.
You have great hustle from Wehey there.
Ball escaped Wehi, but he was able to corral it and tag the runner out.
What a play by Wehi to tie.
tag out Travis Leifert.
We got a one-out count now.
This Albany's going to deal and that's going to be low.
Count is 2-0 to Ben Corson.
We got two outs.
Nobody on for the Chargers.
I mean, just what an unbelievable play by Wehee
to try to stop the bleeding here and help his buddy out.
Corson going to offer out that one and a strike.
Not sure if he went around her it was a called strike,
but we got a two-and-one count now.
seem to disagree with the call
and he's going to have to dig back in face
Nate Albany's
Albany's
big leg kick deals that one's going to be low
another big pitcher for the Chargers
just got to throw strikes
can't be giving out free passes here
the count is three and one to Corson
two outs nobody on
Albany's deals. That one's going to be inside and a hall pass.
Give it out to Corson.
Maybe a little bit of nerves entering the game as the margin of score closed.
Albany's going to face a pinch hitter, number one.
Carson Lindow.
He's going to pinch hit for Johnson here.
That's Cam Johnson.
Looks like Lindau is going to replace Cam Johnson over there on left field.
A left-handed hitter.
Hitting 333 on the season, 27 at bats, nine hits.
A little bit of a spark plug for the Panthers as they try to get it.
Corson going to take a big lead over there at first base.
Albany is going to check him and then go towards home plate.
That's going to be a strike in the outside corner.
Nice pitch by Albany.
He's looking to work ahead here.
Corson may be trying to take a bag over there.
He's a mile off the bag.
is going to step off.
Corson might be trying to take a bag,
get into scoring position here for Lindau.
The pinch hitter for the Panthers.
He digs into the box.
Albany's sets.
Fires.
Runner fakes going.
He's going to check him as he trots back to first base.
No harm to foul.
One ball, one strike to Lindau.
Two outs.
Runner on first.
That's Corson.
Albany is going to check,
Corson over there at first base again. Toss it over to Willayman. No harm, no foul. Corson scampers back in safely.
Albany's working from the stretch. Deep breath, pitch. Runner fakes again. Seems to be messing with Albanyes's head as Elbinez delivers another ball.
Hasn't really looked by like himself here lately. Struggle finding the zone. Hopefully he can pound the zone here against the pitch hitter Lindow.
Albany is going to pick off again.
A little jump pick move from number six in white there.
And Corson's going to scamper back in safely again.
Lindau waggles his bat.
You wait to pitch for Albany's.
That's going to be a called strike.
Lindow again shaking his head.
Don't know if it's in disappointment with himself or with the home plate umpire.
He's going to check his belt before he steps back into the left-handed batters box.
Albanyes looks in to get the sign.
Those long legs crouched slightly as he looks to deliver a strike.
Ball is going to be low.
Going to bring to a full count here now with two outs.
Runner going to be moving on motion from Albany's.
Can't let that deter him.
Needs to deliver a strike here and get the charges out of the inning.
Two outs.
Run around first.
Batters Lindow, pitcher Albanese, deals.
Sharply hit ball to Teno.
Handcuffs Tenoodle at third base, unable to corral.
prow it and Lindau is going to reach first base off the end of the bat from Lindau sharply hit ball
look the handcuffed Tenuto couldn't get his glove around on it yeah it just looks like it caught him up on
the palm lose kind of in that in-between area where you go hand up or you flip the hand down and
just caught him tough play for tenuto over there at third now we have runners on first and second two
outs. Albany's still working from the stretch. That's going to be a strike, swung on foul ball by number 13,
Julian Contreras. A ninth hitting shortstop for the Panthers. Chargers is still leading 11 to 8,
two outs, 0 and one count to Julian Contreras. Runners on first and second. They take their lead.
Albany surveys the base runners, deals now. That's going to be a called strike. Contreras dipped his
shoulder maybe to protect himself a little bit, but the ball caught all plate and was a strike.
Albanyes has the lead now.
O2 count.
Two outs, runners on first and second.
Albanyes takes deep breath.
O2 pitch that looked low, just out of the zone, tried to get Contreras to fish at it,
and he was not taking the bait.
Contreras settles into the left-handed batters box.
Albanyes looks into Weehee for the signal.
He sets at the belt, deep breath, big leg kick delivers.
That's going to be strike three.
Big swing and a miss by Contreras.
Albanyes delivers the payload for the Chargers, leaves two stranded.
Chargers leading 11 to 8 as we head to the bottom of the 7th.
You're listening to Hillsdale College Chargers baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7.
Telling the stories of those who have been awarded the Medal of the Medal of,
of honor. This is Minute of Honor. Here's Jinnah Suhita. On October 20th, 1951, near Sang San
Ni, Korea, Master Sergeant Woodrow Keeble was serving as a platoon leader when he saw that friendly
elements had become pinned down on a slope by heavy enemy fire. With complete disregard
for his own safety, he dashed forward and joined the pinned down platoon. Keeble crawled
forward until he was in close proximity to one of the hostile machine gun emplacements. Ignoring
heavy fire, Keeble took a grenade and destroyed the position. Continuing his one-man assault,
he destroyed the second enemy position with another grenade.
Despite the fact that the enemy troops were now directing their firepower against him in full force
and unleashing a shower of grenades in a frantic attempt to stop his advance,
he moved forward against the third hostile emplacement and destroyed it.
For the extraordinary courage, selfless service, and devotion to duty displayed that day,
Master Sergeant Woodrow Keeble was awarded the Medal of Honor.
This is Minute of Honor on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Albanyes worked out of the jam there, brought us to the seventh inning stretch here at Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium in beautiful Hillsdale, Michigan.
The Chargers lead 11 to 8 starting to sweat it a little bit maybe as Davenport scored three in the top of the seventh.
Yeah, Davenport just started to put the bat on ball a little bit, got a little more comfortable.
got some runners on base and really kind of capitalized,
but hoping to see the Chargers,
maybe put a few insurance runs up on the board.
Certainly would be nice,
as Lucas Call going to get the baseball again for the Panthers.
He gave up none in the bottom of the six in relief.
Now he has to face Aaron Jasek,
the shortstop for the Chargers.
Rocket number nine in the,
those beautiful Hillsdale College white uniforms.
And he's going to dig into the right-handed batters box.
Just his helmet.
As he waits the pitch from call.
Call leg kick deals.
That's going to be inside ball on Aaron Jasek.
Beautiful hair coming out of the back of the helmet there for Jasek.
Blonde curls as he works in one-0 count.
Lucas Call sets in the stretch, delivers home.
That's going to be fouled off.
heads up over there in the Hillsdale Charger dugout is that one was a line drive back towards their way.
Count is one-on-one to J-Sick, looking to start the bottom of the seventh inning here with a base runner for the Chargers.
Defense is slightly shifted over to the left.
For the right-handed hitter, J-Sick.
That ball is going to catch a little bit of the outside plate, maybe a bit of a slider sweeping across from left to right.
And that's going to be a call to strike.
Count as one and two to J-Sik.
Lucas Call working from the stretch.
He's going to take a deep breath as he settles his met about belt height.
Deep breath, pitches.
Going to be swung on by Jasek and miss.
Call dropped that one off the table,
and Jasek was way ahead of it, swinging a miss.
He's down on strikes.
Back to the top of the lineup now for the Chargers,
his guard Swenson looks to spark the Chargers offense here
as he digs into the left-handed batters spots.
The left-handed hitter.
He's hitting 3.49 on the year for the charges in 106 at bats.
Two home runs.
Four other extra base hits, and he's going to face Lucas Call.
Call works towards home.
That ball's going to be low in the dirt.
Good eye by Swenson to take that one.
Counts 1-0.
One out, nobody on.
Chargers lead 11 to 8.
Call takes the sign from the catcher.
Swenson, stiff like a statue in that batter's ball.
He's going to swing at that one and it's going to be filed over towards the sweets at Hillsdale College.
And we got one and one to count.
One out, nobody on.
Guard Swenson, the lead off hitter for the Chargers, digs into the left-handed batters box.
He's crowding the plate a little bit as called the right-handed pitcher, toes the rubber.
He's going to deliver.
That ball is going to be bounced over to first base, handled by the first baseman Warren.
easy play one unassisted and Swenson is down two outs now and it's going to bring up Rocco
tenuto the roto red hot bats of the charges have seemed to go on cold a little bit need a little
bit of a spark don't know who it's going to be hopefully it's tenuto slight sign of the cross
of tenuto before he steps into the batter's box waggles that back arm as call stands stiff ready
to deliver the pitch that's going to
be a called strike. Rocko nods his head in agreement. As he steps out of the batter's backs,
ready to await the 0-1 pitch from call. Two outs, nobody on. Chargers lead 11 to 8.
Call has done a magnificent job here in relief for the Panthers and quieted those bats of the
Chargers. He deals now. Check swing by Tanuto. Looks disappointed at himself, and it's going to be
in a 0-2 count after the breaking ball by call finds the strike zone two outs nobody on for rocko
tenuto the third basement of the hillsdale chargers waggles his bat has called delivers to home
and that's going to be a ball upstairs count as one and two two outs nobody on tune do maybe trying to
spark some offense maybe bring himself home he has a lot of home runs on the season and he leads
the charges in that category was five.
Tenuto crouches in his stance,
awaits the pitch. That's going to be low on another breaking
ball by call. He's thrown a fair amount of those today.
Tenuto takes that one to even the count at two and two.
Looks like he wanted to go after that one. Did a good job.
Good discipline.
The charges showed some good discipline here at the plate today
as Cole takes a deep breath,
reaches back,
delivers the pitch.
That's going to be inside on the hands of Tenuto,
another ball, and Tenuto's worked himself into a full count.
Whatever way you can take him, base hit or ball four.
The Chargers are looking to get another runner on base.
Call takes the sign from the catcher
as he sets his mitt belt high and delivers a pitch.
Oh, strike three looking.
And Tenuto thought he had himself a walk as he started to trot.
down to first base and it looked like it caught the inside portion of the plate that was strike three
we're going to head to the top of the eighth with your chargers leading the davenport panthers 11 to
eight you're listening to college baseball on radio free hillsdale 101.7 welcome to the grammar minute
where we're saving the english language 60 seconds at a time i'm lauren smith and this episode was
requested by a grammar fan from florida this episode by the way as you may have noticed is free you're
getting it for free? Or are you? The economist in me wants to say that it's not free,
it's zero cost, so there's one problem, but the other problem which is more relevant to grammar
is that free isn't a noun. It's an adjective, meaning that it describes a noun, and four
is a preposition which must proceed a noun. So for free is wrong because it's a preposition
and not a noun. This runs into all kinds of problems. You want to say that you're listening
to this episode for free, so are you listening to this episode,
Free or freely, and does that even mean the same thing?
For Free is broadly accepted in modern English and is even included in the Collins English Dictionary.
Personally, I think the distinction is interesting, but I don't mind this expression at all.
That's your grammar minute.
Welcome back to TFO Partners Field here at Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium.
They got the music blaring hopefully to spark your chargers a little bit.
They're leading 11 to 8, but the bats have gone cold.
The Panthers look to be heating up.
They scored three runs in the top of the seventh.
They're still down 11 to 8 to 11.
They have eight hits to the Chargers 9.
One air for the Panthers, three for the Chargers.
Number four, Sam Clay, the second baseman for the Panthers,
is going to step into the box.
As Nate Albanyes gets the ball again for the Chargers,
he was a little sporadic in the first half of his frame here.
As he pitches and that's filed back off the mid of Wheathe.
for a one strike, no balls, count to Sam Clay.
Number four, the second baseman.
Keeps his bad about chest height.
Albany's going to deal.
That's going to be sharply hit over the head of Jasek into left field.
That's going to be a base hit for Sam Clay.
Nice compact swing, knocked it over J6's head.
And Albanyi's going to be faced with a runner on first as Clay singles.
Let's see if the Panthers look to get aggressive.
on the base pass.
That's their ninth hit of the contest.
They have a couple of stolen bases already.
As number 10, Wyatt Eppel, the center fielder,
going to step into the right-handed batters box.
Albany's sets into the stretch.
Big lead.
That pitch is going to be upstairs from Albany's.
Count as 1-0.
Nobody out, one-runner-on for the Panthers,
as they look to come back in this game.
Panthers third base coach,
giving out those numbers again for those signals.
Albany is going to quickly fire it over to the Lampters.
over at first base hoping to check the runner Clay he's going to slide in safely
no worries there from Clay Albanyes wind whipping his jersey as he fires towards
home that's going to be a ball low seems to be a theme here in this game lots of
runs scored lots of walks handed out curious here if Albanyes goes to a slide
step knowing that the Panthers are going to be aggressive on the base paths
Clay's dangerous on the base pass.
Albany's going to pick off again.
Ball headed over to Lehman as Clay just easily walks back over there into first base.
Apples face with a two-oh count.
Nobody out, one on.
We're in the top of the eighth here.
As Albany's deals, that ball is going to be upstairs.
A little bit of action over there in the Chargers bullpen.
Got two arms out and about.
We'll see how long Albany's can stay out there.
hopefully be able to find the zone a little bit more
as he's thrown three straight balls.
Count us three and no.
Nobody out one on
as Epple
is going to watch that ball go past.
That's going to be a strike
as Albany's finds the zone once again.
Albany's working from the stretch.
Apple checks his belt buckle
looking for signals from the third base coach.
He's going to dig into the right-handed batters box,
three-quarters crouched stance.
Ball is going to be filed straight back.
on the pitch from Albany's that one hit the screen Apple's trying to jump on a ball drive something in over here as Clay stands over at first base for the Panthers.
Count is full, nobody out. Albany is going to pick off again and Clay slides in safely.
Albany's towing the rubber looking to get the sign from Wehi the catcher.
Weehee sets up and another pickoff need to put a slipping slide over there at first base.
with all the slides that have been happening trying to get back to the bag.
Clay takes a cautious lead.
Albany's digs in, focuses on the mid of the catcher,
and there goes Clay.
The ball's going to be outside, and Apple's going to draw a walk.
And you have to imagine, as Chargers coach,
Tom Vassella comes back out to talk to his pitcher.
Have to imagine we're going to a new arm here.
Kind of figured Albany's would be on a short leash,
given that his last 6.2 outings,
giving up 18 runs, 17 of them earned, and 17 walks.
Yep, we look like we have an AJ's Cafe pitching change,
as that's Winston Delp coming out of the bullpen,
the sidearm pitcher from Toledo, Ohio.
Page, we bring out a rosin bag.
Got a little Hank Williams playing on the speaker
as Delp trots over to the mound.
The former Shamrock.
of Toledo Central Catholic.
Daupe has pitched a good amount out this season for the Chargers
with eight appearances and 11 in the third innings pitched.
He's rocking a 7-9-4 ERA and a 1-0 win-loss count.
Giving up 10 earn runs, six walks, eight strikeouts.
Opposing batters are hitting 268 against him.
Chargers looking to probably limit walks here.
More you can make hitters hit and not just let them stand there.
You're going to have better odds.
Chargers don't want this one to get away from them as they lead 11 to 8 right now.
Delp warming up on the mound.
The Panthers have taken advantage of some charger miscues as they have three airs
and have walked a fair amount of batters here this afternoon.
Excited to see some of Delp stuff from that angle.
He's got up his arm.
He's a right-handed pitcher pitching from that sidearm slot, a winding tornado-like motion from Delp as he delivers the ball towards home plate.
See if you might be able to catch the Panthers off guard.
As the Panthers have runners on first and second, nobody out.
And number 22, the D.H, Justin Johnson, steps up to bat.
Johnson has been quiet today.
He is hitting 398 on the season, though.
161 and seven home runs.
He's quite a powerheader.
Hopefully the charges can avoid him getting into one today.
Delap working from the stretch, off-kiltered stance delivers.
That one's going to be fouled off.
Loud ringing as it hit the cage, the screen over there on the first base side.
Delp going to get a new baseball here as he toes the rubber for the chargers.
Count his own one to Johnson.
runners take their lead off first and second.
Delp checks the runners.
He's going to spin now and try to deliver the ball back to Paratsky to take care of that runner,
but he slides in safely at his clay over there at second base for the Panthers.
Delp working off the left side of the rubber into the stretch that off-kiltered front foot forward
as he deals towards home.
That's going to be in there for a strike.
Johnson's going to shake his head in agreement.
he really can mash that baseball.
Delp's got to be careful here with runners on first and second.
He's up 02.
Nobody out, two on.
Wehe's going to set up outside, and that's where Delpe's going to deliver.
Good pitch, good location, just couldn't get Johnson a bite on that outside offering.
Delt takes the ball again.
Shakes an agreement, likes the sign that he's getting.
Weehe's sitting out on that outside part of the plate of the game.
that's going to be swing on file tip caught by weehe and that's a strikeout for delp Justin Johnson
set down back to the dugout and we got one out with two on now for the chargers
delp coming in that new motion that big sweeping the tough thing is when that right-handed pitcher starts
throwing from an arm slot starts off and that ball looks like it's about to hit you and then all of a sudden
it's a strike on the outside part of the plate he was working the outside part of that plate there
against Johnson. Let's see what he can do against
Pawensky as Delp's going to step
off the mound there and give a slight
half-hearted fake towards Clay
with the baseball.
Panski
hitting fourth year for the Panthers
today as he digs into the right-handed
batters box rocking some black and gold
cleats as Delp's going to deliver that's going to be
followed off directly behind
we he's going to get a new ball from our home plate
umpire and deliver it out to Delp.
No balls one strike one out
two on. Chargers a lead.
11 to 8 here in the top of the 8th.
Davenport looking to capitalize on some runners.
Payensky
wiggles that bat behind him as Delp
going to turn and fire over to
Paratsky back there
at second base seems to really be concerned
with Clay over there.
Clay has five stolen bases
on the season as Delp shakes off
Weehee.
Seems to agree on a pitch here. He sets
working from the stretch.
he's going to deliver towards home.
That ball's going to be upstairs to Pawensky.
One ball, one strike.
Let's see if Delp can dial it back in, find the zone here.
Can't be a four to give out free base pass.
One ball, one strike, Delp delivers.
That's going to be a ball on the inside part of the batters box.
Two balls, one strike now to Polanski.
As Delp continues to work from the stretch.
Pawyensky, toes the line.
They're in the batters box.
Delivers, that's going to be a ball low and outside.
It's three to one now.
Three and one, the count, one out, two runners on.
Has Delpes looking to find the strike zone
and get back ahead in the count on Pawinsky.
Paensky, the fourth hitter for the Panthers.
That's going to be a ball inside, and it's a walk.
Delp's going to walk Paensky to load the bases with only one out.
The Chargers might be in trouble here now as Aden Warren steps into the batters box for the Panthers.
Warren has two homers on the season.
Grand slam potential here with the bases loaded.
One out.
Delpe the right-handed pitcher works to the left-handed batting Warren.
That's going to be a strike right down the heart of the plate.
Warren shakes his head.
Looks like he really wanted that one.
Drop the hands a little bit but did not go as Delp looks to work himself out of a jam.
O one count he deals.
Ball going to be outside, stabbed by Wehi, as he tries to calm down Winston Delp out there on the mound.
Wehi has done a great job behind the plate so far, both calling the game and showing off some hustle plays.
Delp looking at the stretch, nods his head, sets the pitch, called strike on the inside corner of the plate.
Now we got one and two the count.
Payed and Warren.
One out, bases loaded.
A strike out here or a double play ball would be huge for the chargers.
Dope's ready now.
Sets towards home plate.
It's a left field pop-up out to Figman.
The runner's going to tag that's Clay over there on first, third base.
Excuse me.
And Warren is going to drive in a run with a sacrifice fly out to left field to Figman.
Delp got some weak contact, but it's going to drive in a run.
We got two outs as the Chargers now lead 11 to 9 in the top of the 8th.
Panthers have put one across here in the top of the 8th now.
Runners on first and second.
And it brings up number 16, Leiford, the third baseman for the Panthers.
He's towing that back line of the batters box there as he awaits the pitch from Delp.
Delp's going to set.
Going to fire, and that's going to be a ball.
Leifred had backed out of the box a little bit.
In on the hands of Leifford was the pitch by Delp.
Delp.
Delp going to look in for the sign.
Going to put that glove right on his belt, sets and delivers.
That's going to be a ball outside.
2-0 the count to Travis Leiford.
Runners on first and second for the Panthers,
as Delp tries to work himself out of his.
jam now. He gave up the sacrifice fly just a batter before and he's got a two-0 count now.
The delivery, that's going to be a foul ball. Wehee giving chase and it's out of play.
Filed off behind us by Travis Leiford. It's going to bring the count to two and one now. Two outs.
Two runners on. Top of the eighth here and your chargers lead the Davin for Panthers 11 to
eight. A couple of balls delivered to our home plate umpire with a quick restock.
need some ship shoppers out there to deliver them to balls maybe some uber eats
dope going to tow the rubber now looking to deliver the ball across the plate
that's going to be a weak foul ball over there in foul territory
and it's going to land inside of the chargers bullpen out of play
layman and sowers were both giving chase hoping to track the ball down and get the
chargers out of this inning unfortunately just crossed the wall and landed in
our bullpen
Delp
with twos across the scoreboard
two balls, two strikes, two outs.
Chargers holding onto a two-run lead
with runners on first and second
as Leifford
digs in the right-handed batters box.
Well, Delp sets
going to be another fly ball out there
to the right field just beyond the line
and out of reach. Another one over to the bullpen
with Sowers charging
over there trying to snag it.
Lehman also giving chase as well as
Billy Parotky.
Leifford might be a little bit of behind on
Delp's stuff just kind of flailing his bat out
and putting it over to the bullpen over there
along the first base side.
Let's see what Delp can do.
He's got a two and two count
here on Travis Leiford.
Leiford, a couple of practice swings
before loading up.
That one's going to be inside.
Ball three.
Travis Leiford works a
full count against Delp.
The runners are going to be going on.
Delp's first motion here.
If Leifford puts something into play, it could tie this game up for the chargers.
Leifford waggles his bat.
Delpsets.
Delivers.
Going to be a ground ball over to Jasek.
Dasek going to grab it and he's going to be safe.
Jasek was working over to his left hand side there, excuse me,
and just couldn't snag that ball in.
time would have had to pull off a Derek Jeter level play to get Leifert over there at first base and
unable to do so. Good effort by Jasek, but it's going to be an infield single for Leiford and the
bases are juiced once again. Hillsdale up by two. Ben Corson digging into the box. The right
fielder for the Panthers base hit would tie it up here with the charges only up by two.
Nothing and nothing to count as Delp delivers the pitch. That's going to be fouled off. Look at it might have
bounced off of the ground in the right side batters box there is course I'm going to check his bat
no apparent damage and so we'll play on the count's own one here at linda and glenda hill
stadium under the lights on this beautiful wednesday in hillsdale michigan dope going to set now
towing the left side of that rubber he's going to deal that's going to be a foul ball over the
first base dugout over there it doesn't seem like the
the Panthers have a great jump on Delp's stuff.
Lots of fall balls over there on the first base side,
but some self-inflicted wounds by Delp has allowed the bases to be loaded.
Oh and two the count.
Interesting here.
O2 count, you'd think out of the zone,
but you've got to be careful with bases loaded.
Don't necessarily want anything for Corson to hit here,
because Delp's going to deliver.
There is time called on the field by the field umpire.
don't necessarily won't win on there but Delp's going to have to go again.
One ball, two strikes now.
It appears to be a pitch clock error.
My partner speak up.
He's got some great insights.
Two outs.
Base is loaded for Delp.
Off-kiltered stance.
He's going to deliver.
That's going to be fouled off.
That's going to go over and hit the baseball shed over there.
Over behind the first base side.
defense playing at normal depth
Perotsky back in the grass behind second base
Sowers a little bit shallow and right field
everyone else playing normal depth
as dope looks to
get a strike out here
and retire the side
strike three looking he struck him out
great pitch by Delph
on the right side portion of the plate there
Corson didn't even offer at it
and your chargers are headed to the bottom of the eighth.
They're leading 11 to 9.

With Fox on Tech, I'm Evan Brown, Fox News.
And I welcome you back here to Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium at Hillsdale College.
Some say the most beautiful campus in the country.
I know I say that.
And we have the Panthers here.
They have 10 hits.
They scored one there in the top of the 8th.
Dope worked out of a basis load.
to jam some nice pitching.
Got the called third strike looking against Corson to end the inning.
And the Chargers are looking to extend their lead here in the bottom of the 8th.
Carson Tucker going to be coming up for the Chargers.
He's looking to face Lucas Call, who's doing a nice job for the Panthers in relief.
Chargers haven't been able to touch them putting up nothing on the scoreboard,
double goose eggs in both the six and the seventh inning.
Shout out Lamella ball.
Lucas Call now going to deal.
Going to be a ball outside to Tucker.
Tucker coming in as a pinch hitter.
He's rocking a 286 average and 28 plate appearances.
Let's see if he can get in one to here and spark the charges off.
Let's bring it back to life, a little CPR.
Lucas Call here are going to deliver from the stretch.
That's going to be right down the plate, but high.
As Tucker steps out of the batter's box and he's got a two-0 count,
here. Nobody on, nobody out. Bottom of the eighth, your Chargers lead. The Davenport Panthers
is 11 to the 9. Pitch on the way and that's upstairs. Call might have lost a little bit of
control in the long wait there. There's a couple of arms up in the Davenport Panthers bullpen
as their fans shout some encouragement to call looking to get back into this count. 3-0. That's
going to be a strike. Tucker made a thought it was a little upstairs, started walking towards first base.
going to be called back to the batters box and face a 3-1 count.
Tucker leading off the charges in the bottom of the 8th.
He waggles that back behind his head as Lucas called delivers,
and that's going to be a ball outside.
Tucker's going to take off his leg guard and trot down to first base.
He's going to walk.
That's going to bring up Jake Figman, the left fielder.
Let's see what he can do.
Hopefully maybe provide a little life to this stagnant Hillsdale Chargers offense.
another walk for the Chargers.
The Panthers have struggled with control today, as has the Chargers.
Lots of walks, a little bit of a sloppy game.
As Call sets his left foot into front of the mound and delivers.
That's going to be a base hit right at the middle for Jake Figman,
and it's going to be mishandled by the center fielder out there.
Wyatt Eppel who's going to corral it eventually.
Tucker's going to trot over to second base on the base hit.
Jake Figman has got runners on first and second now for the Chargers,
and it's going to bring up the first baseman Will Lehman.
Grapey's hitting there right up the middle, just like you said earlier.
Send it right back where it came from, and Chargers got some life.
The Chargers have had some nice compact swings today to be able to put the ball in play.
Let's see if Lehman can do the same.
That's the 10th hit for the Chargers.
Let's see if Lehman can make it 11.
Crouches back, coiled on that left foot.
He's going to square around a butt.
He lays one down.
Fielded by the pitcher over on the left side.
he's going to try to flip it.
It's going to get past the third baseman's mitt into left field,
and Tucker's going to score on the air.
Figman is going to trot over to third on the air,
and Lehman is going to advance to second.
Call field of the ground ball after coming off to the left side of the pitcher's mound,
tried to flip it to the left.
The third baseman there, Leifford, and it just went right over his mitt.
Ball dribbled over to a left field,
and layman with a bun that's going to score one for the Chargers.
A little small ball.
A little small ball.
Umpires appear to be talking about something after Davenport, Davenport's coach kind of pointed something out.
It appears Kevin Tidy might have had a disagreement with the umpires.
They went and had a little powwow out there by the mound.
But nothing doing.
Delivered an explanation and off we go.
Play on here and we're going to have a time.
as Poensky is going to bar instructions to his defense
and maybe try to calm down his pitcher
who had an untimely air that allowed the charges to score.
The charges now lead, the Panthers 12 to 9 here,
scratching across the run in the bottom of the 8th.
Extending that lead, giving a little bit more comfort,
and appears Poensky might have just been stalling
to try to warm up an arm in the Panthers' bullpen.
Call has done a great job in relief for the Panthers,
but that air allowed the Chargers to score,
and then add another run.
It's going to be officially ruled an infield single by Lehman on a bun.
Don't see many of those.
And then an air on call allowing Tucker to score
and both Lehman and Figman to advance.
Yeah, Davenport going out to the bullpen once again.
We've seen a lot of them today.
I feel like we got to experience a lot of the bullpen.
Davenport bullpen today. Got to see a lot of the Davenport arms that they have, their repertoire,
as Call is going to exit the game and head to the dugout, getting some congratulations from his
teammates. He did a great job today. Yeah, I thought Call did a nice job coming in, kind of calming them
down, went in the sixth and seventh and no runs there, gave up one in the eighth, and now we go to the
bullpen as he trusts his teammate to go shut these chargers down with no outs. Not sure.
on the name of the pitcher yet.
Looks to be number 26.
That'll be Jimmy Amped Man.
Sure, I'm Amped Man.
I mean, how can you not be Amped?
The charges just took a lead.
12 to 9.
Amped Man.
What a name for the Davenport right-handed pitcher.
He's from Sycamore, Illinois,
where he attended Sycamore High School
and then Hartland Community College
before finding his way up to Caledonia, Michigan.
and a home at Davenport University.
Amtman comes into this contest with a 6-3-E-R-A-1-0 win-loss record in seven appearances.
No starts all out of the bullpen.
He's seen 10 innings of action giving up 10 hits.
Seven runs, all of them earned, 12 walks and only 8 strikeouts.
A little bit of a different delivery here from Amtman.
Pretty over the top so far in warm-ups.
A little bit different.
Panthers probably trying to give the Chargers a little bit of a different look.
Hides that ball pretty well behind his right shoulder there before he delivers it with that windmill-like motion.
And we'll have number 21 for the Chargers.
Tyler Sowers, another Illinois kid, stepping in to face him.
Speaking of Illinois, final four.
Sure.
The final four is coming up.
I know I'm juiced for it.
It's exciting stuff.
We're both Michigan fans,
so hopefully Yaxel and the boys can carry a national title home to the Maze and Blue in Ann Arbor.
And hopefully our Boys in Blue can finish this game out as Tyler Sauer steps into the batting box
to face the new arm out of the bullpen for the Panthers.
That is Amped Man working out of the stretch.
second and third for the Chargers. That's going to be in there for a strike.
Look like an off speed pitch for Amped Man to start Sowers off.
Countless own one. Nobody out too on for the Chargers.
Let's see if they can really extend this lead and drive that knife home.
That's going to be a curve ball that's going to be blasted by Sowers in the left field over the head of Contreras.
He's going to advance on the throw to the catcher.
Interesting choice from the left fieler to airmail it over the cutoff and that allowed
Sowers to advance to second base.
Yeah, kind of an interesting decision.
Didn't seem like he was all that confident of where he was going,
just tried to get it in as quickly as possible.
But I feel like patience might have helped him out there,
hit the cutoff, and limit the damage.
Sowers jumped on that off-speed pitch from Amp Man and put it into left field.
13 to 9 now for the Chargers.
They're rocking it on 12 hits.
They've done quite well.
They've got two ducks in the pond now for Ryan Weehe.
That's going to be a ball in to the catcher.
Wehee, done a great job behind the plate today.
Let's see if he can do it at the dish.
The count is 1-0 as Ampman works from the stretch.
The pitch, that's going to be low,
stabbed behind the plate by Pawansky, but another ball.
Davenport, looking to limit the damage here,
nobody out, two on.
That's going to be a swing from Wehi
and followed it over there towards the Bierman Center.
excuse me the sports complex over there on the first base side been here for four years still
don't know my way around the place amp man now deering from the stretch again met at belt
height and that's going to be followed over there again towards the sports complex by ryan weehe
two runners on that's layman and sours on second and third respectively
count as two and two nobody out as ant man delivers towards wehi that's going to be
ball going to careen off the catcher back into the field of play who's going to take it and deliver
it back to antman on the mouth full count now to wehi nobody out two on chargers looking to extend
their 13 to 9 lead here in the bottom of the 8th they've scored two so far a towering fly ball out
to left field by wehi left field they're going to come in and grab it going to fake the tag as layman
and he's not going to do anything.
Yeah, a little too short to advance there.
I would like to see that launch angle down a little bit,
maybe drive that out there and score a guy.
But one out.
Chargers still in attack mode here.
Definitely not in attack mode,
looking to grow that lead a little bit more of a cushion for us.
That's Paroski's going to dig into the right-handed batters box.
The second baseman,
got a neon green bat back there that is wiggling behind his head
as Ant Man takes a deep breath and delivers.
That's going to be a ground.
ball over to Contreras at shortstop. He's going to check the runner at first and deliver a strike
over to the first baseman Warren. And Petroski's going to be out after swinging at the first
pitch delivering a dribbler over there with the shortstop. A quick two outs for Antman.
And he's got to be juiced about that. Yeah, that's huge. To get a ground ball there
were no runners advance. You don't give up any more runs. Going to keep you moving,
hopefully the Chargers can get at least one more here. Runners on second and third don't
want to leave him stranded is Jasek who's going to dig into the batters box now.
The first pitch going to be low.
Jasek not moving an eye at that offering from Antman.
And the count's going to be 1-0.
Two outs, two runners on.
13 to 9, the Chargers lead to Panthers.
That pitch is going to be upstairs too high.
J-Sik's going to stretch himself out before entering the batters box again.
The wind's still whipping out there.
and center field blowing a little bit right to left out towards left field.
Antman, the pitch.
Going to be another low pitch, 3-0, JASIC with some great discipline,
which all of the charges have demonstrated today.
They've worked a lot of walks, making the Panthers work for it.
The 3-0 pitch is going to be a strike out there on the outside corner of the plate,
maybe just caught the black, and it's going to be 3-1, the count to J-Sic,
Two outs, two runners on, bottom of the eighth inning.
Antman delivers.
Another strike.
He's really painting the corners here is Antman.
As Jason necessarily didn't agree with that call,
he's going to face a three-two count now.
Runners on second and third,
Antman delivers.
That's going to be a hard hit ground ball.
Diving play by the second baseman,
and he's going to get him.
What a play by Sam Clay out there at second base,
slid into it with a backhand.
save and JASIC is going to be retired at first base. The Chargers leave two ducks on the pond.
They scored two in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead, 13 to 9. We're headed to the top of
the ninth inning as you're listening to Hillsdale Chargers baseball 101.7 FM.
Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith and I'm here to talk about email subject lines. Don't ask me how, but I
I just found out recently that chat GPT can generate these for you.
It seems to like long, complete sentences, such as, I really enjoyed our conversation at the conference
yesterday.
This is grammatically correct, but the problem is that email subject lines are like social
media post captions.
Our lizard brains get three words in, and by then we've already decided if this is something
we want to read.
Thus, when you're writing an email subject line, sacrifice every word you don't absolutely need.
For the sample sentence, you could shorten it to great.
to meet you or follow-up XYZ conference.
If you feel the need to add more details, just know the recipient probably won't read them.
This is a great time for brevity and a great time to break almost every grammar rule.
That's your grammar minute.
Winston Delt going to get the call again to finish this ninth inning.
We're going to throw down the second base.
Hopefully the charges can get out of here.
They're up by four right now as we head into the ninth.
They're leading the Davenport Panthers 13 to 9
and a little inter-Michigan inter-conference contest.
Intra? Inter?
Couldn't ask me.
I wish I could tell you.
Yeah, it feels like we should know that,
but we'll give it to Google after the game.
It might be intra.
Carson Lindow is going to pinch it again for the Panthers.
That ball is going to be inside ball one from Delp.
Countless one and O.
Nobody on, nobody out as Lindau leads off the top of the nine for the Panthers.
Chargers looking to escape here.
Hopefully you don't have to get the sticks out again.
That ball is going to be outside, stabbed by Weehee.
And we're looking at a two and oh count for Delp.
Lendow digs into the left-handed batters box facing the right-handed pitching Delp.
Delp's going to coil and deliver.
That ball is going to be smacked out to left field.
The figman giving chase, and it's going to be just beyond his outstretched glove.
It's going to go to the wall.
Lindau is going to scoot into second and a double from Carson Lindow as he slapped it over there down the left field line.
Gives a little scoop of celebration to his teammates.
And the Panthers have a little bit of life.
On the prowl here as they try to cut into this charger lead.
It ballooned up to four runs and the bottom of the eighth.
The Chargers leave 13 to 9.
There's a runner on second now.
As a pinch hitter for the Panthers,
Aidan Arbaugh is going to come in
and try to provide a little bit of spark to these Panthers.
The Chargers need three outs to get out of this one.
We're in the top of the ninth.
Runner on second, nobody out.
Fresh count for Arbaugh.
And that's going to be a first pitch strike from Doub.
As long as he can do that,
the Chargers should come home.
home victorious but I don't want to jinx it.
Wind coming in from center field,
regular depth for the Chargers defense
as they await the pitch from Delp.
Going to be outside to Arbaugh.
Didn't bat an eye at that offering.
It was a non-competitive pitch.
Let's see if Delp can come in and attack the zone
for the Chargers.
Lendau had a double to lead off this inning.
He's going to take a hefty lead over there at second base.
Delp's going to check him.
That's going to be a foul ball.
over towards the Bierman on the left-hand side over the third baseline from Arbaugh.
Dope just needs to get a little bit of contact.
Don't have to worry about the runner too much.
Up by four runs here.
Dope looks for the sign from Weehee.
Going to dig in, tow that rubber going to deliver,
and that ball's going to be outside again.
Seems like he's just, he's trying to deliver an off-speed,
maybe a slider to come back in from that right-handed batters box
and just looks like it's slipping on him a little bit.
Tenoido trying to keep himself warm out there.
third bait. Chargers trying to stay hot and win one here. Delp's going to deliver again outside
the offering. Arbaugh working the count making Delp work here. Count is full. Going to have a payoff
pitch. Nobody out. One on is that's Lindow at second base after his lead off double.
Dope, the payoff. It's going to be outside and up. Arbaugh is going to walk. He's going to trot down there
over to first base.
Couple of arms active in the Chargers bullpen
might need to go to the stable.
Wee are going to have a conversation with his pitcher.
Maybe try to calm him down a little bit
or buy a little time for one of the Chargers warming up.
I mean, yeah, it just seems like he's leaving a few of those pitches out
outside of the plate there to the left-handed hitter.
Just trying to bring one back in, a little bit of break to it.
It just seems like he's not getting quite enough spin on.
those. Dope came in and worked himself out of a jam last inning and he's facing a similar situation now.
Runners on first and second, nobody out and in steps the leadoff hitter, Sam Clay for the Panthers.
Can I have to go through the heart of the order to get out of this one. A tall task.
Pickoff move by Dope and Lendow's going to be in there safely. Just a little bit late as he slid back into
second base safely. Petroski tried to apply the tag. But now.
not in time.
Clay, comfortable in that right-handed batters, boxes, dope delivers.
That's going to be a strike across the center of the plate.
No balls, one strike to Sam Clay.
Nobody out, two on.
Chargers leave 13 to 9 here in the top of the 9th.
Dope sets and delivers.
That's going to be a sharply hit ground ball to J-Sick.
He looks to turn two.
Petroski to Lehman who climbs the ladder and gets him.
What a timely double play by the Chargers.
ground ball to Jasek flipped it over to Petroski.
Paroski delivered it to Lehman,
and the Chargers suddenly got two outs.
Lindow advanced to third on the play.
But the Chargers aren't worried about him.
They're just worried about getting this last out and sending us home.
Yeah, great play there.
Great throw by Petrosky.
A little bit of heat on that over the first.
Wyatt Epple is going to swing at Delp's first pitch,
a little bit out of control there,
maybe trying to put one over the fence and get Davenport back in this game.
He's the second batterer in the lineup for the Panthers playing center field today.
As Delp's going to deliver and that's going to be fouled off towards the Hillsdale Charger bullpen
and Delps quickly up 02.
Apple's done a great job patrolling the center field caverns of center field for the Panthers of
center field for the Panthers today and he's trying to play hero and prolong this game for the
panthers. Delp's going to deliver that's going to be a sharply hip ground fly ball out to Swenson and he
caught it. Your Chargers win. Delpe doing a great job in relief coming in shutting them down
and the hot bats of the Panthers offense are stymied they put up nine runs on 11 hits with two
airs. The Chargers win, scoring 13 runs on 13 hits and three airs. What a great way to start off
this homestand for the Chargers, and they'll look to add on to this as they play Davenport again,
and then Northwood later in the week. Any thoughts, Reed? Yeah, great game from the Chargers,
look disciplined at the plate, let Davenport kind of hurt themselves in this game.
Davenport just couldn't seem to find the strike zone.
And the Chargers struggled a little bit as well, but really kind of honed it in.
Really great outing from...
Skavarda.
Yeah.
Really great outing from him to kind of calm down the defense for the Chargers.
And then the bats woke up and had some timely hits, and Chargers got out of here with the win.
Great to see it for the Chargers sending their old Gliac foes packing.
Chargers win 13 to 9.
Skavard is going to get the win for the Chargers, I believe.
As Delk comes in and gets the save, your Chargers win 13 to 9.
