The following is a special presentation of WRFH Sports.
Welcome back, Charger Nation, to the second of the two games in today's double header
between the Hillsdale Chargers and Finley Oilers.
We're coming in with Logan McLaughlin at pitcher and a 3-1 count right now with the first batter-up,
Nick Palm.
And a 3-1 pitch and called a ball, ball four.
So first pitcher for McLaughlin is a walk.
Nick Palm on first now.
Last game, Finley won six to four in seven innings.
This one will go all nine.
Keel and Daniel, a great runner if he gets on base.
Hopefully McLaughlin's looking to keep him off.
In that first pitch, swung and miss, but got past the catcher as Nick Palm steals second.
Not calling it a foul, maybe calling it a foul.
The rest going to discuss.
The runner did.
steal second, but they may send them back. Either way, it's an 0-1 count. And they will say it's a
swing and a miss, no foul ball. Daniel's swung and miss did not get a piece of that one.
O one count for McLaughlin. And it seems to be a little confusing him, but seems to be we're getting
underway. O'1 count. McLaughlin with the next pitch. Daniels, he wanted the bunt, but pulled it back,
just not in time.
02 count strike 2.
Palm on second.
And third pitch coming in, a little low.
Catcher couldn't hold on to it, but keeps Palm at second.
That's a 1-2 count now.
McLaughlin looking for his first strike out of the day.
And the pitch coming in.
McLaughlin looked to fell a little bit, and Daniel barely fouls.
He ripped it to right field, and it hit right on the line for a foul ball.
That would have sent Palm home.
and Daniel likely to second, but Chargers, safe for now.
One-two count.
It almost looked like McLaughlin fell on that pitch.
Daniel got a hold of it, just couldn't keep it fair.
Chargers, very thankful that ball, missed right of that foul line there.
That would have been a tough way to start off this second game.
McLaughlin with a one-two count, zero outs, runner on second.
Pitch comes in, and Daniel fouls it off again.
staying alive for now one two count
warming up on the sideline is
Casey Maruniac
next up to bat for Finley
and the pitch coming in
and Daniel sends it
to center field
Palm tags and then goes back to second

catch and throw by Swenson

Now up to back,
back Casey Maruniac, number 17,
the center fielder for Finley.
Guard Swenson has been able to deter
second base runners from trying to advance
on fly balls throughout the course of this weekend
and his career here at Hillsdale.
And strike one for McLaughlin.
Got a Marooniac looking,
trying to make something happen here.
And the pitch comes in.
Strike two, looked low,
It took a little second for the ump to make the call, but strike two for McLaughlin.
He was peeking back at the runner for a little bit, but held him there and delivered a strike.
Maruniac now down, O2 with one out.
Pitch comes, and that's a little outside.
Catcher blocks it, but can't catch it.
Keeps the runner at second.
One two count.
McLaughlin looking to end it here.
Pitch coming in.
And it is fouled off down the.
the right field line. Solid contact for Maruniac, but couldn't keep it fair. Still, still the count
1-2. McLaughlin, Maruniac holding on. And the pitch coming in. Maruniac makes contact again,
but it's popped up to right field. And he's going to make the catch. And Palm tags going to
third, and they can't get it there in time. Ball rolls to the third basement safely. Palm is at
Now two outs. Sack fly to advance his runner.
Now up to bat, Luke Setton, the designated hitter.
Number 15, clean up for the Oilers.
McLaughlin, Sinton with two outs, runner on third.
Tyler Sowers with a nice play out there in right field.
And first pitch, strike one for McLaughlin.
That's Senton looking.
And another pitch.
Oh, just-mitted.
the zone. One one count. McLaughlin with the pitch little low, but the catcher blocks it.
Two one count. Pitch coming in, and that one's low and it goes past the catcher in the
and Finley's going to score. The man on third base is going to go home. Catcher couldn't block that
one. Three one count, two outs and Finley with their first run of the day or of the game.
That ball just kind of squeaked through the catcher's legs there as he tried to block that low and away pitch.
The first score of the second game of the day.
And the pitch coming in and fouled off.
Senton gets a hold of that one and sends it over the net.
Full count now, McLaughlin, three balls, two strikes and two outs.
Looking to end this inning here.
Pitch comes in and sends it deep to center field.
and Swenson makes the play.
Swenson having a big day in the field.
Tons of plays being made last game and two already this game.
Chargers weren't able to squeak out of that with zero runs, hoping to put some runs on the board.

this question once and for all. What does it mean to say that something is inflammable?
Despite the misleading prefix, inflammable means the same thing as flammable. That is, it refers to
something which is easily set on fire. That prefix, by the way, comes from Latin and literally
means in. Saying something is inflammable is essentially saying it is in flames. A common misconception
is that inflammable means both easily set on fire and not easily set on fire. Fortunately,
this is not the case and it only means easily set on fire. The correct way to say that something
is not easily set on fire is non-flammable. Or to reduce confusion, you might say incombustible,
which kind of makes things worse because it's the same prefix, but it means the opposite thing,
and that's English for you. That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminut.com for more tips

And the Hillsdale Chargers will take over in the bottom of the first inning of this second game in their double header.
Center fielder, Guard Swenson, up to bat.
Number 16 had a big game in the field last game, looking to have a big bat this game.
And for Finley, their pitcher, right-handed pitcher, David Jimenez.
Jimenez's first pitch, just in the zone, looked a little outside, but called a strike.
going to be 01 for the batter. Swenson looking to get the chargers on the board.
Pitch comes in. Swenson makes contact and it'll, oh, snagged by the left fielder.
It looked like he was going to drop with the left fielder, made a play on it.
That was Mason Myers for Finley, making the catch.
And that'll be out number one in the bottom of the first for the chargers.
Up to bat next, third base for number 32.
Rocco to Nuda.
Really nice play by the left fielder there.
Everyone kind of thought that ball was getting down, especially guard.
But left fielder made a really good play.
Pitch comes in.
Oh, low strike called.
O one count for Danuta.
Looks like he wasn't expecting that.
Jimenez with the pitch coming in.
And Tenuda got a hold of that one, but it looks like it's going up,
and the first baseman's getting under it.
He got a hold of that one.
It looked like it was going to foul off for the first base.
Baseman was able to get under that and get the out.
Already, two batters, two outs for the Hillsdale Chargers.
Up next, number 33, Will Lehman, first baseman.
Jimenez with a strong start for Finley.
Chargers like what they see from the mound.
Their backs are swinging.
Hopefully they can just start to barrel it up and keep these balls in play
and get them on the ground.
First pitch, another low pitch called a strike.
O one count.
Layman was making sure he saw it first.
Pitch coming in.
Layman makes contact, but it's lined as a foul.
Pulled that one a little bit,
but he made good contact.
That's what we like to see.
O2 count.
Two outs, O2 count.
Jimenez looking for his third out in just a few pitches.
Pitch, and that one is low and outside,
but called a strike three,
and that will end the inning.
Chargers go three batters, three outs.

Turgers have been able to swing the bat pretty well making a lot of contact.
It's not quite getting it into spots where the Oilers aren't.
Oilers have been able to make a couple of really nice plays.
A couple of them just went right to him.
Now up to bat number 22, Gavin Smith had a triple in the earlier game.
McLaughlin's hoping to keep them in bay.
This first inning for McLaughlin's been pretty good, just a little mishap for the one
run let up and Smith
rips it to center field
Swenson under it and he makes
the play Swenson with another
play out in the field
for a second it looked like
Smith ripped it he just didn't have enough
power behind it and that's a quick
first out on one pitch
for the Chargers now up to bat
number 12 Mason Myers left

Next pitch coming in.
And that's going to be strike one.
Ramos was just looking at that one.
Just wanted to see what he liked.
1-1 count, two outs.
Pitch coming in.
Another one.
Raymond stepped towards it, but he let it go.
2-1 count.
That ball low and inside.
McLaughlin looking to catch him swinging.
And that next one right outside the zone.

Bottom of the second.
Finley, one, Hillsdale, zero.
After a quick three and out for the chargers,
they're looking to get on the board.
These teams have been able to show us
a couple offensive.
battles over the weekend.
And today it seems to be in the second game a little bit more of a defensive matchup
as both teams are going back and forth, three up, three down.
Besides the Poilers' first run that they were able to score in the first inning,
it's been a lot of really nice plays by the defense.
We're interested to see how the rest of this game goes.
Absolutely. Number 26, Ryan Weehee, the catcher for the Chargers,
hoping to get on base for the first time for Hillsdale this game.
pitcher Jimenez.
First one.
Nice contact.
Fowled off and out of the stadium.
Uncatchable.
Wehi, able to get a piece of that, just can't keep it fair.
Hillsdale has been making nice contact this game.
They just can't get them down.
Weehe hoping to get on base for the Chargers.
Clean up hitter batting for the first time in the second inning.
And he watches that one get called strike.
O2 count.
Must not have liked what he saw.
Wehee, smart player hoping to get a hold of one.
O2 count for Jimenez.
Pitch comes in and that one is down and outside.
Ball.
One two count right now, zero outs.
Wehi looking to get on base.
Elsdale looking to make some plays.
Jimenez with the pitch, and he gets him swinging.
Strike three.
Wehi strikes out.
Jimenez, outside pitch, got a.
them chasing. Up next is Tyler Sowers, right fielder for the Chargers, number 21.
Sowers switched from left to right field between the games. It's up to bat, hoping to get on base for
the Chargers. Jimenez with the pitch and swing and fouled off right back at the catcher's
helmet. Sowers, the 0-1 count. Able to foul off that first one. Again, Hillsdale's making good
contact they just can't keep it fair jimenez with the pitch and that one is low but it's called a
strike oh two count must have barely clip the zone sours watch that one didn't see what he wanted
oh two count now for sowers and he checks this swing safe corner ump called him safe check the swing
ball just outside of the zone one two count one out no swing called from the ump
pirate first.
Pitch coming and that's another one outside the zone.
Sowers battling back.
Two-two count.
Turgers really need to get base runner out here and get something going.
And the pitch coming and Sowers makes contact but fouls it off again.
Staying alive here.
Two-two count one out.
Jimenez with the pitch and Sowers makes contact, grounds it to second.
He fumbles the ball, throws first and he is out.
Sowers grounded it out to second.
Bobbled the ball for a second.
That's Aiden Booth.
But he regained his composure, threw it to first,
and got the second out of the inning.
Now up, designated hitter, number 11, Nolan Copens.
Lefty batter, hoping to defeat the righty Jimenez.
Get the chargers on the board.
Pitch comes in.
That first one, ball low, and the catcher just misses it.
Goes rolling back behind him.
brings us to an 1-0 count.
Copens looking to get on base for the Chargers.
Don't want to go three-for-three again.
Pitch comes in, and Copens makes good contact, but fouls it off.
1-1. Yet another foul for Hillsdale.
Just can't quite keep it fair.
Pitchers keeping it in the zone, and the Chargers just can't connect how they want to.
Jimenez with the pitch, and that one is way outside.
Two-one count.
Copens
Copens looking to get on base
for the first time for Hillsdale in this game.
Jimenez with the 2-1 pitch,
and that one is low, called ball three.
3-1 count, two outs.
Copens.
Jimenez, looking not to walk his guy lets on base.
And that one is down low, ball four,
and Copens will take first.
Jimenez, with his first first.
walk of the day and Hillsdale with their first on-base runner at the game. Now up to bat,
number 14. 14. Number 14. I didn't write his name down. Jake Figman. There we go.
Coming in for left field. Runners on first, two outs. The pitch comes in, and that one is low.
Ball one. Gymnas throwing a few more balls these last two batters.
Figman looks like he's being patient.
Runner on first, getting a little bit of a lead.
Jimenez worried about the runner on first.
Pitch comes in, that one's also a ball.
Another one low and outside.
Counts going to be 2-0 with 2 outs.
Two balls, zero strikes so far for Figman.
Jimenez worried about the run-around first.
Delivers the pitch.
2-0.
Ah, this one called a strike.
Figman wanted it but pulled back, but it still
Clip the zone.
It'll be two balls, one strikes with two outs.
Pitch coming in.
And that one is contacted.
Going to get past first base and roll to the right filter.
Good contact for Figman.
He hit a little grounder right past the first baseman,
rolled to the right field.
We got runners on first and second now.
Now up to bat number 18, Billy Perotsky, second baseman.
Looking to make something happen with two runners on, two outs.
Jimenez, these last two bats.
has gotten a little shaken up.
Looks like he's a little overwhelmed by the runners on base.
Chargers are looking to capitalize with their first base runners of the day in this game.
First pitch from Jimenez.
Ball outside.
Paraski with a good eye.
Paraski looking to advance the runners on first and second right now.
Two outs.
And the coach calls a timeout.
Looks like he's coming in to tell a pitcher to come.
him down a little bit. Had a really good start his first few batters and these last two have not been
great. Jimenez, good strike thrower. Hillsdale finally making contact with those balls.
It seemed to be just a quick moment for the pitcher to take a breath and readjust.
He was very, very efficient in the first inning against the Chargers and started out this
inning doing very strongly. But the Chargers contact is starting to catch up with them a little bit.
They're finally getting the balls going a little bit straighter,
a little bit more zip on them in places where they can't quite be caught.
And it's putting the charts in scoring position.
Jimenez, another pitcher from down the road in Defines, Ohio,
with a 6.88 ERA so far in this season coming to the game,
hoping to find the strike zone again like he did earlier.
Perotsky hoping to take advantage of his pitching yips.
And Prowski makes contact, pops it in the air, looks like a foul, and it is caught by the catcher for the out number three of the bottom of the second.
You're listening to Chargers Baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
We'll be back top of the third.
Anchorage, Alaska was founded in 1915 as a temporary city when construction on the Alaska Railroad began.
Since then, it has become the home to more than 40% of the state's population and is equidistant from Tokyo.
New York City and the North Pole. The name Anchorage comes from the term Anchorage, which means an area that is suitable as a safe harbor for ships.
Pre-1915, locals referred to the area as Nick Anchorage because it was a safe place for boats to land coming to and from the now abandoned town of Nick.
After it became an official city, residents held a vote to rename the area. Anchorage actually came in third place behind Alaska City and Lane, but the Postal Service and other government agencies decided for them,
when they never change the city's name in their systems.
Now, Anchorage remains true to its meaning,
as it's still a safe harbor for ships and cargo planes seeking fuel alike.
I'm Megan Pitcock, and this is What's in the Name on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
We are back with Logan McLaughlin, the right-handed pitcher from Milford, Michigan,
for the top of the third inning.
Coming into this game, McLaughlin has a 4.76 ERA,
and he's a strong pitcher to start off today.
Hillsdale looking to split the series after losing the earlier game today in today's
double header.
Hillsdale split the earlier double header against Finley on Friday.
Now that in the third baseman number five, Mike Cirritino.
Up to bat.
Number five, Mike Cirritino.
Third baseman for Finley.
McLaughlin, looking to get another.
three and out. First pitch, heater, strike one. Seratino was looking. Didn't quite see what he
wanted, didn't swing at it. Second pitch coming in, and that one's a little outside, a little further than
the first pitch, and that will bring it to a one-one count. Siritino makes contact, and he lines it
over the shortstop between the left feeder and center fielder. Throws it in, turns, but second-guesses it.
Seratino back to first and that will put Finley with a runner on first.
He just ripped that one right over the shortstop's head,
but the left fielder caught it before then and threw it in before he could make the turn to second.
Good hustle over there by Figman making sure you don't allow the base runner to get into scoring position there on second and holding there at first.
Next up, number one, Aidan Booth, second baseman for Finley.
McLaughlin with the pitch, that one right down the middle.
one. McLaughlin doesn't seem to be phased by the runner on first, hoping to keep delivering
strikes. O-1 count, zero out with a runner on first. McLaughlin peeks back at runner with the pitch,
and that one, strike two. That was a heater right down the middle. Booth, not swinging.
O-2 count, zero outs. Runner on first for Finley. McLaughlin, keep in mind the runner on first.
And Booth with the grounder of the shortstop makes the play at second but bobbles it can't quite get the first.
No double play but got the out at second.
Booth with a hard grounder to the shortstop.
Yeah, both Jasek and Billy Pulaski both had a little bit of a slight hiccup in their transitions there,
but we're able to get the lead runner out and almost were able to turn two there.
Very close play, very close double play.
Now Booth on first.
Getting a big lead-off and up-to-bat, Nick Palm, the lead-off hitter for Finley.
McLaughlin peeking back with the pitch, and that one is called a strike.
Looked a little inside, but just got in the zone.
O-1 count, one out, one runner on first.
Pitch coming in, and that one has swung on and foul tipped off.
Zero balls, two strikes, one out.
Runner on first.
Ump seems to be taking a second, slowing the game down a little bit.
McLaughlin keeps throwing strikes, hoping to get some quick outs.
McLaughlin, very wary of the runner on first, but not seeming to affect him.
Cates a peak.
Delivers the pitch, and Palm gets a hold of that one into left field, but just foul.
landed right outside of the foul line.
Hillsdale, lucky that one drifted.
Going back to first base.
Palm, back up to bat.
O2 count.
Couldn't quite keep that one fair.
Looks very distraught over it.
McLaughlin looking to strike him out here.
Palm able to put a lot of power behind that swing.
Just unfortunately with a little spin
and maybe a little help from a wind,
just barely pushed itself foul of the left field line.
McLaughlin with the pitch.
And Palm gets a hold of it again, but to the center fielder, Swenson makes a play
and sends Booth back to first base.
Another out for Swenson.
I'm pretty sure Swenson's got a magnet in his glove or something,
because every ball that's hit out in the outfield seems to be going right to him.
Absolutely. He just seems to find the ball.
Now we're at two outs on the inning.
with Keelan Daniel up to bat, a dangerous base runner.
McLaughlin hoping to keep him off the bases,
and he rips it to the right for a foul.
Went off the coaches, the first base coach is calf there.
Alan's going to feel a little worse in the morning.
Oh, yeah.
And Keel and Daniel looks to take a little break.
Unsure what's going on there.
He may have taken a ball off his hand.
McLaughlin with an oath.
0-1 count, two outs, runner on first on the top of the third.
Daniel talking to the coaches.
Daniel heading back to the box.
Seems to be like a little stinger off the end of the bat or the neck of the back there.
Rings up the hands pretty good.
Might have even clipped a finger or two.
Definitely would not feel good on the hands.
McLaughlin hoping to end the inning here.
O-1 count.
Pitch coming in, and that's a strike.
heater in the outside corner.
O2 count for McLaughlin.
Two outs.
Runner on first now.
McLaughlin, pitch coming in,
and that ball's slightly outside.
One two count, two outs.
McLaughlin, very wary of the guy on first,
but it isn't affecting his ability to throw strikes.
McLaughlin, hoping to end the inning.
Pitch comes in, and swing and a miss for Daniels,
and that is strike three, out three.

Now that brings us back to the bottom of the third inning.
second game of today's double header between Finley and Hillsdale.
Currently, Finley is up.
One nothing against the Chargers still looking to get on the board.
Both teams with one hit on the day each.
It's been very good pitching today, very good fielding.
Lots of contact, but not a lot of base runners.
The ball's just can't seem to find any gaps today for either team.
Anytime the ball's hit contact, it's pretty well at end of the field to play.
It seems to go right to a fielder.
Number nine, Aaron Jasek, shortstop, up to bat for Hillsdale.
Facing pitcher David Jimenez.
Jimenez has done a good job keeping it in the zone today.
Jasek, check, swing, pulls back, and that's a ball, low, 1-0 count.
Jimenez with the next pitch, down the middle.
J-Sig, grounds it to third, running it down, and he is out.
Third baseman able to recoup, get the throw to first, and get him out before he goes.
got before a J-SIC tack base.
Just like that again, there's another well-hit bowl, right to the third basement.
Keep making contact, but can't get on base.
Hopefully, Guard Swenson can change that, number 16.
The big-time fielder today making tons of plays out there, hopefully we can get them on the bat.
Pitch outside, and that is called ball.
That one was close, but just missed the zone.
one ball zero strikes and one out on the inning.
Swenson looking to get on base.
And Swenson makes good contact but fouls it off.
Another foul.
Lots of contact being made, but it's all fouls and getting out.
Not a lot of getting on base.
Swenson's hoping to change that.
Jimenez, keeping it in the zone.
And Swenson shows bunt but pulls it back.
Doesn't see what he likes, but still called his strike.
Stayed in the zone, just didn't like it.
One ball, two strikes and one out.
Swenson hoping to get on base.
Pitch coming in, and he doesn't like what he sees.
Takes the ball.
Two balls, two strikes, one out.
Jimenez looking to deliver another strike for an out.
Pitch comes in.
Swenson takes a big swing at it, but it pops up,
second baseman backing up and makes the play.
That's going to be the second out of the inning.
Another contact, but just cannot.
get on base as that's a pop out to the second baseman now up to bat third baseman roco
tenuda hopefully the chargers can compile enough of these hits that eventually somewhere just by
sheer number of balls in play eventually something will fall and we'll be able to get some guys on
base and chase a couple runs across tanuta looking to get on base with two outs that first
pitch he takes strike strike one oh one count for tenuda didn't like a
what he saw. Tanuda, great hitter looking to make contact and get on base.
Pitch coming in. That one's low and outside. Ball one. Jimenez couldn't find the zone on that one.
One-one count, two outs. Jimenez with the pitch. And Tanuda makes contact between the shortstop and
third baseman. Going to first and he will stay there as the left fielder throws it in. Hillsdale
finally makes contact and gets on base with Tanuda at first.
Hopefully we can turn this into a little something here.
Maybe get to new to the second out of steel.
Get him in scoring position.
Have a nice base hit by Will here.
And chase a run across here in the bottom of the third.
Hillsdale is able to get runners on base again with two outs.
Will Lehman.
First baseman.
Up to bat, the cleanup hitter.
Hoping to make something happen.
And first pitch comes in, and that is a strike.
outside corner just clip the edge 0-1 count for layman 10uda on first jiminez weary of the guy on first
pitch comes in and another strike as layman watches it 02 count two outs last time jiminez had guys on first he got a little
errant with his throws this time is different throwing two strikes in a row ternuda taking a big lead
Pitch comes in
And Lehman makes contact right to the first baseman

inning with number 17, Casey Maruniack up to bat for Finley. McLaughlin has had a strong game so far
in the first three innings, hoping to keep that going. Finley up one nothing so far with only one hit.
Clawflin with the pitch, and that one's a strike.
Just got the corner of the zone.
Maruniac caught looking.
McLaughlin hoping to keep the strikes coming.
And that's, oh, just outside.
1-1 count.
Moruniac looking again.
1-1-count, zero outs.
McLaughlin.
Maruniac makes contact to the left fielder backing up, and it is caught.
And that'll be the first out of the inning.
Maruniac ripped it to the left fielder, but couldn't get it over his head.
Now that end the designated hitter, number 15.
Seems to be the case for just both teams.
Barrel in the ball going right to the other team.
Not even letting them get a chance to get a guy on base.
Jake Figman with a nice catch.
Luke Setton now up to bat.
Number 15 for Finley.
McLaughlin hoping to get another out here.
And Senton rips it to the second baseman.
He makes a play.
throws it.
and gets the out on him.
What a play.
Second baseman.
Dove for the ball.
Got up and ripped it to first just in time to get the second out of the inning.
I guess you can even hit it in the gaps in this game
and it'll still be fielded by somebody and you'll still get thrown out at first.
What a play by Billy there at second base.
Number 22, Gavin Smith, the first baseman up to bat.
As Hillsdale's found out, he is a heavy bat.
Earlier today in this first game had a triple.
McLaughlin looking for the third out of the inning and three batters.
That first one, Smith makes contact but fouls it off.
Zero one count with two outs.
McLaughlin looking for another three batter, three out inning.
McLaughlin with the pitch.
And that one is contacted by Smith.
Left field is going deep and bounces off the wall and goes over the wall.
That'll be a ground rule.
double.
Smith with great contact,
hit it too far for the left
fielder to reach, took a bounce,
and went over the fence.
Finley, now with the runner on second.
I guess that seems to be the only way
to get on base in this game is to
hit the ball out of play,
either through a ground rule double or
maybe even a home run later today
by the Chargers.
Absolutely.
Definitely looking for that.
Now, Smith on second,
Finley, two outs.
Up to bat.
Number 12, Mason Myers.
McLaughlin, hoping to end that.
Hopefully that was just one sneaky hit and Myers.
Fows it off.
Finley now with two hits in three and two-thirds innings.
McLaughlin looking for the third out of the inning here.
Myers looking to keep the hits coming.
Pitch comes in, and that one just misses the zone.
One-one count.
Two outs.
McLaughlin
With the pitch
Little low
2-1 count
2 outs
McLaughlin was looking back
at the runner on second
Nice step by Wehi there
Keeping the low pitch
From going behind him
And allowing the base runners to advance
McLaughlin
Looking back at the runner
delivers the pitch
And that one is swing and miss
Two-two count
Two outs
Great pitch by Malaflin
had him swinging and missing.
Myers, hoping not to miss again, looking to get on base.
McLaughlin looking to end this inning here with two outs.
Pitch comes, Myers makes contact, popped up to the left fielder,
and that one is caught, end in the inning.
Another quick, four-batter inning.

Back looking at the bottom of the fourth inning.
Finley's still up. One. Chargers, nothing. Jimenez.
Finding the strike zone well today. Hillsdale making contact but doesn't seem to be able to get on base with only two hits today.
The Hillsdale, hoping to at least, or to split the series today like they did last week.
Finley, looking for a sweep.
Up to bat.
Number six, the catcher, Ryan Weehe.
Looking to get on base here.
Jimenez looking to keep his good pitching showing going.
Wehi makes contact right down the middle.
Second baseman dives, makes the throw.
And just in time to get the out.
What a play by a second baseman.
That was some incredible defense there.
Second baseman going all the way up to the middle of the field,
just right at the second base bag.
A able to make an incredible stop.
And a great throw and an even better pick by the first basement.
That was some very talented defense right there to keep Hillsville from getting a base runner.
Now Tyler Sowers up to hit the right fielder for the Chargers.
Jimenez, the pitch.
That one is contact.
but fouled off.
Barely tipped, zero one count, already with an out on the inning.
Jimenez, finding the zone well today.
Sowers, tips it off again.
Another foul tip, zero balls, two strikes with one out on the inning.
Sowers looking to make a little better contact and get this one in play.
Jimenez with the pitch, way outside.
Catcher can't hold on to it.
One ball, two strikes.
Sowers with a good eye on that.
still looking to make contact on the strikes.
Jimenez.
Pitch coming in.
Sowers rips it right down the middle, and he will get on base.
That one snuck right past the second baseman and shortstop.
They couldn't close it on, closed it on at that time.
Now we got Sowers on first base, one out, and Nolan Copens comes to hit.
With how these defenses have been playing,
I almost saw the pitcher was going to spin around and snag that with his glove behind his back.
But it just snuck right up the middle underneath his glove.
I was able to get all the way out to the center fielder there.
Great contact by Copeon, or by Sowers, leading off on first now.
Copens, the designated hitter, number 11.
Jimenez, Copens, swings and misses.
I'm going to start the count with zero balls, one strike.
Only one out on the inning now.
Jimenez, looking to keep finding the zone.
Sowers, taking a short lead.
Jimenez with the pitch and that one is low and outside for a ball.
One ball, one strike.
Jimenez, making sure you can still see the leadoff Sowers is taking.
No steals yet in this game.
Sowers peeks back.
Goes for the pitch.
And that one is ripped by Copens,
but looks like it's going to drop right in the left fielder's hands,
and he is going to throw that one in.
That is the second out of the inning.
good contact but just couldn't get it far enough.
Sowers still on first, two outs.
The bat, number 14, Jake Figman,
hoping to advance Sowers and himself on the bags.
Jimenez.
Pitch, and that one is going to be a ball.
1-0 count with two outs now and a runner on first.
Geminez looking to end this inning early again.
Chargers could really find another gap shot or hard ground ball.
the middle again to get the base runners to advance.
And Jimenez throws back to first.
Almost a warning shot.
Sowers makes it back safe.
Jimenez has been eyeing that first base for a while.
Jimenez looks backs again.
Jimenez going for the pitch.
And that one is just inside the zone.
One one count now for Jimenez.
Two outs.
Runner on first still.
Figman looking to.
to advance that runner and get on base.
Jimenez with the pitch and contacted by Figman,
but just out, fouled out, past the third base.
One ball, two strikes and two outs.
Still, runner on first.
Figman looking to make contact and get on base.
Jimenez with the one-two pitch.
And swung and hit on in Figment,
pops it up right to the right fielder,
who makes the catch for the third out of the inning.

We will be back.
Anchorage, Alaska was founded in 1915 as a temporary city
when construction on the Alaska Railroad began.
Since then, it has become the home to more than 40% of the state's population
and is equidistant from Tokyo, New York City, and the North Pole.
The name Anchorage comes from the term Anchorage,
which means an area that is suitable as a safe harbor for ships.
Pre-1915, locals refer to the area.
as Nick Anchorage because it was a safe place for boats to land coming to and from the now abandoned
town of Nick. After it became an official city, residents held a vote to rename the area.
Anchorage actually came in third place behind Alaska City and Lane, but the Postal Service
and other government agencies decided for them when they never changed the city's name in their
systems. Now, Anchorage remains true to its meaning as it's still a safe harbor for ships and cargo
planes seeking fuel alike.

Looks like we're back.
Top of the fifth inning, Finley leading Hillsdale, 1 to 0 in the second game of today's double header.
Up to bat.
Number six, catcher Isaac Ramos, McLaughlin, still into pitch for the Chargers.
Both pitchers this game have been performing very well.
And first, swing and a miss.
Starting this inning off with a strike for McLaughlin.
He's been very efficient today.
Pitch coming in, and that one is low, called ball.
One-one count.
McLaughlin wanted him chase.
Ramos staying put.
Pitch coming in.
Ramos, swings, fouls it off.
One-two count.
Ramos wanted that one back.
Looking a little distraught after that.
Fowled off, one-two count.
McLaughlin, looking for a strikeout.
Pitch coming in, and...
Oh, Chopped swing.
swing, fair ball, and, oh, thrown over the first baseman's head.
Ramos goes to, interesting play there.
Ramos looked like he was pulling a swingback, made contact, got in play.
The catcher threw it over the first baseman's head, and Ramos made it to second.
Not how you wanted it to go there for the Chargers.
No.
Advancing all the way to second on a check swing.
It's not the ideal situation for the Chargers there.
Mike Sjortno up to bat.
Runner on second, no outs.
Finley's in a good position.
McLaughlin, looking to get some outs here.
And that one is low, called ball.
Count's going to be 1-0 for the Chargers.
McLaughlin, eye and the runner on second.
Pitch coming in.
And that one has swung on in, hung high in the air.
Left fielder is going to grab it and makes the catch for the first out of the inning.
Good communication there by the defense.
offense. Aaron J. Sick going back to try to catch it.
Jake Figman calling him off saying he can get there.
That way they didn't run into each other.
And that way the ball ended up in the glove and not on the ground.
Good play by the fielders to communicate.
Now still, one out.
Runner on second.
Aiden Booth, up to bat.
Number one.
Pitch coming in.
And that one is low and outside called ball one.
The one-o-count-one out.
Again, runner on second.
Finley, with a runner in scoring position looking to make something happen.
Pitch coming, and that one is fouled off by Booth.
Just make contact on it a little low, but he chased after it, was able to foul it off.
One-one count, one out.
Runner on second, McLaughlin looking back.
Those the pitch, and Booth.
Oh, you dropped it.
They claim it was on the transfer, so they're saying that Aaron Jasek caught that high-line drive.
Yeah, line drive booth right to the shortstop.
Gets it in his glove and then it falls out.
They're debating whether that was on the transfer or if that was a drop.
As they have it right now, there's runners on first and second with only one out.
We'll see what they decide.
Now, but in the shortstop number seven.
And it looks like they called it and out.
A drop on the transfer.
Runner on second, two outs.
J-Sick still made the secure catch, just fumbled it on the transfer.
Run around second, two outs.
Nick Palm up to bat for Finley.
Coach has some words to say about that.
McLaughlin looking to end the inning.
Pitch coming in, and that one is called a strike.
Just catches the zone on the outside.
Palm almost looked like he wanted it, but held back.
McLaughlin, looking to keep throwing strikes here.
The throw, and that one is contacted by Palm, and he gets it out.
to center field throws it in going home and he makes it home Ramos makes it home from second
Palm makes contact enough to get on first still two outs in the inning good throw an
attempt by guard out there in center just couldn't quite get there in time but it was good enough
to keep the um bait runner at first and from advancing to second Finley now two runs on the day
Strike one, first pitch to Keelan Daniel, the number two hitter in the lineup.
Dangerous runner, McLaughlin hoping to keep him off the bags.
Very wary of the guy on first.
Pitch, a little errant.
Looks like he got overwhelmed by the runner on first, looking back a little much.
2-0 count now.
Two outs.
Big lead, and Daniel swings on it as the guy from first steals.
Third baseman catches it.
On that one, at first, Palm stole, but it was a pop fly out to the third basement.
You're listening to Chargers baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
I'm Bill Hammer, and these are the most impactful moments in American history.
October 14th, 1947, from a Boeing B-29 bomber,

I'm Bill Hemmer, Fox News.
I'm going to hand it?
We are back at the bottom of the fifth inning,
and Finley has made a pitcher change coming in.
Number 23, right-handed pitcher.
Connor Evanick.
Warming up.
Taking the bat for the Chargers.
number 18, Billy Perotsky, second baseman.
Evinick having a little extra time to warm up between innings.
So far in today's second game, Finley leading two. Hillsdale, nothing.
As a reminder, Finley claimed the first game of today, six to four.
Hillsdale, looking to split the series today like they did last week with Finley.
The sole run scored for the Oilers in the fifth inning,
game after a check swing in play turned to error by the catcher,
he allowed the runner to advance the second,
and then on a hard hit single to center,
the runner on second was able to score.
So as long as the chargers are able to continue to put the ball in play,
I feel like they can eventually chase a run across.
And the pitching has been very well this game.
I think the defense is going to continue to make plays, limit some mistakes.
The charges are far from being out of this game.
Paraski up to bat now against new pitcher Evanich.
Rite versus Ritey.
Paraski looking to get on base.
First pitch coming in.
And that one is high.
Out of the zone.
Ball one.
1-0 start for the new pitcher, Evanich.
Second pitch coming in.
Paraski wanted it, but held back, and that is a ball.
Good pullback by Paraski.
Two-0 count now.
You can afford to be patient on some of these.
Pitch coming in.
And Prowstki swings up towards center field.
He's sitting under it, and he makes a catch for the first out of the inning.
Paraski got a hold of it, just couldn't rip it far enough.
Now up to bat.
Number nine.
Aaron Jasek, shortstop.
Jasek hoping to get on base for the Chargers.
Evanich first batter first out.
Jasek shows Bunt pulls it back for ball one.
Way outside, good pull.
Jasek hoping to get on base with one out.
Pitch coming in and that one is another ball out of the zone.
Evanich struggling to find the zone early.
2 O count, one out.
And Jasek makes contact down the middle.
Second base chases it down, makes the throw fumbles with throw, safe on first.
Jasek, able to hit it down the middle.
Second baseman, not able to bring it to the first basement.
That second baseman's made play similar to that today,
so I would not be surprised if he was able to try that throw.
It was going to be pretty close, but Jysk was a pretty fast wheel,
and slight bobble on the throw allowed Jasek to get on first.
He's putting the chargers in good position here.
Now up to bat, guards Wenson, with a runner on first,
and only one out.
Jasek with a large lead.
Evanich, the pitch, and that one is outside for ball one.
Evanich peeking back at the runner.
Maybe a little worried about him.
Jasek is a speedster on first base right now.
Getting a good lead.
Swenson looking to make something happen.
And that one is down and inside.
Ball two.
Two balls, zero strikes with one out.
One runner on first.
Evanich, not finding the zone very well so far.
Swenson makes contact but fouls it out.
2-1 count, one out.
J-Sysk on first.
J-Sik's starting to creep out for a little bit of a lead.
And another contact made but fouled off.
2-2-count, still, one out.
Swenson, making some contact just can't keep it fair.
Evanich, not like what he's seen from the catcher.
2-2 pitch coming in
And contact made
Grounder to the first basement
Flips it to the short
Flips it back to first
And
Safe
Safe on first
They get the out at second
Can't get it at first
Three heads up play there
By the first baseman
Trying to get a little double play there
But
Thankfully for the Chargers
Guard is able to beat out
The throw back to first
Swenson
Now on first
Two outs now
With Tanuta up to bat
Evanich looking to end this inning.
Swenson with the lead.
Tenuda takes the first pitch outside.
Ooh, strike called.
Catcher couldn't hold on to that.
Dropped it but still blocked it.
O one count, two outs.
Run around first.
A lot of times when you see catchers drop balls like that,
even if it is pretty close kind of on that edge,
a lot of times you're not going to get that strike called.
It ends up being strike one on Tanuda there.
Tenuda, not happy with that call.
Pitch coming.
And that one is low.
Blocked by the catcher, though.
One-one counts, though.
Two outs.
Swenson, not looking to run quite yet.
Swenson, taking a big lead now.
Tenuda takes another strike.
One-two-count.
Not very happy about that one.
One-two-count, two-outs.
Runner-on first.
Tern-Nooda, looking to make something happen with a runner-on.
Hillsdale, still down.
Two-nothing.
Bottom of the fifth.
Tenuda with the pitch, grounds it to third.
Third baseman catches it, throws and out at first.
Tanuda made contact but couldn't quite get on base.
That'll end the bottom of the fifth for the Chargers.
You're listening to Chargers baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
This is The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group.
On August 6, 1945, an atomic weapon was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan,
in hopes of ending World War II.
However, few are aware for days prior to the bombing,
American pilots dropped leaflets over the city,
warning the people to leave.
Read this carefully as it will save your life, it read.
We are in the possession of the most destructive explosive ever devised by man,
and then it urged them to evacuate their city.
Even though over 100,000 people lost their lives in Hiroshima,
the Empire of Japan still refused to surrender.
It took a second bombing on Nagasaki before the emperor himself ordered the surrender over the objections of his military leaders.
This has been the Making of America.

Yeah, already in the top of the sixth inning in today's second game of a double header between Hillsdale and Finley.
Currently, Finley is up on the Chargers, two to nothing.
Both teams with four hits, Hillsdale with one errand throw.
Still up at pitching, Logan McLaughlin.
Strong arm, still looking good out there.
Up to bat, number 17, Casey, Marooniac.
McLaughlin, still being able to pitch at a very high level right now.
It doesn't seem to show any signs of slowing down.
Going into his sixth inning, McLaughlin, with the first.
pitch first pitch maruniac makes contact flying up to left field and figman makes the catch for the first
out of the inning one pitch one out maruniac caught the ball but could not get enough power behind it

McLaughlin. Pitch coming in and that one called a strike. Low in the zone. Senton didn't want it.
Call to strike. One one count one out. Senton swings and misses. Loughman got him chasing. One two count now
with one out. Loughman looking to end this inning early. Loughman one two pitch.
Senton makes contact to left field.
Looks like it'll go foul, though.
Good hit, just couldn't keep it fair.
Loughlin, one-two count.
Senton stays alive.
Turg is waiting for everyone to get back in position
before getting set and ready to go.
Loflin, pitch coming.
Low, blocked by the catcher.
Be a second ball.
Two balls, two strikes, one out.
Looks like the coach is chatting at the third baseman.
Loughlin 2-2 count one out pitch coming and oh couldn't quite clip the zone just outside full count three balls two strikes one out
Senton looking to get on base Loflin looking to end his bat Loflin pitch and just fouled off by Sinton staying alive with the full count
McLaughlin hoping to get another out here.
Three balls, two strikes.
McLaughlin with the pitch.
And just high.
Walking Settin.
Runner on first now.
One out.
Up to bat now is number 22.
Dangerous hitter, Gavin Smith.
First baseman for Finley.
McLaughlin staying alive here.
Hoping to get some more outs.
Runner on first.
Big lead from the runner.
Pitch coming, and that one is in the zone.
Zero balls, one strike to start it out, one out.
Still, runner on first.
McLaughlin, looking for an out here.
And the pitch, and that one looked like he got away from it a little bit.
Low pitch, but blocked by the catcher.
Good play by Ryan Weehee.
One-one count now for McLaughlin.
One out still, and still a runner on.
first. McLaughlin peeking back at the runner. Pitch coming and that one is just outside the zone.
Ball number two. Two one count, one out. Runner on first keeps inching towards a bigger lead.
Pitch coming in and that one is contacted by Smith up to the right fielder who cannot make the play
but it is foul. The ball was drifting up and foul and the right fielder could just just couldn't reach it.
really good effort there by Salas just barely couldn't quite get there
ends up running pretty much full speed into the fence over there by the bullpen
sitting at a two two count with one out runner on first
Smith a big bat hoping they can keep him contained
McLaughlin hoping to end his at bat
peeks back at the runner offlin with the pitch
and that one is a ball little high just outside of the zone now
his another full count today. Three balls, two strikes, one out, but fans are not happy about that call.
McLaughlin looking to end this at bat with only one runner still on base. And the pitch coming in,
and that one is taken for ball four. Runners on first and second now with only one out.
Up to bat, Isaac Ramos. And the catcher, Wehee is going in to talk to his pitcher.
Runners at first and second, one out, Hillsdale, still down by two.
Coach is coming out to the pitcher's mound.
Some guys warming up in the bullpen, but no one coming out yet.
Got to give him a second.
He's out a lot of pitches so far today.
McLaughlin's had a really nice showing for the first five innings and one third.
I'm guessing this is just a moment for McLaughlin to take a breath,
despite the two runners on base, refocus,
and get ready for the guy at the plate,
and let his defense continue to make plays like they have been all.
Mason Myers up to bat next for Finley after their little discussion.
Still, runner on first and second now.
There's a pitcher warming up in the bullpen for both Hillsdale and
Finley.
McLaughlin still in, hoping to get his second out of the inning.
Runners on first and second.
Mason Myers up to bat.
left-handed left-fielder.
McLaughlin peeking back a second, delivers the pitch.
And Myers gets a hold of that one, but it's going to fly up to right field.
Sowers has got the catch, beams it in, but cannot get the guy running to third.
Senton, tag, second to third.
Now runners on first and third with two outs.
Ramos up to bat.
Two runners on.
Two outs.
McLaughlin, another out on the inning.
Sowers, good catch.
Manana's catch by Sowers over there, hustling over close to the right field line,
and able to hold the base runner at first,
and keeping the base runner from advancing past third.
Ooh, first pitch.
Ramos gets a hold of that one.
Bounces off the catcher's face.
Looking all right.
Foul tip on that first one, 0-2 count, or 01 count, two outs.
Still, runners on first and third.
Fowl balls just kind of jump off the bat and glanced off Wehey's forehead there on the mask.
Good thing he had one of those on.
Otherwise, that would have been a rough day.
McLaughlin looking for his third out of the inning.
Pitch coming in and stealing second.
Weehee holds it, though.
Runners now at second and third.
Smith was able to grab second.
Chargers learned from their attempt last game, trying to throw a guy out at second
and have a play coming back at home.
It just didn't quite work out in the last game.
Wehee decided to hold on to it.
It allowed them to get the second so they can focus on the batter.
Or is it second third, O2 pitch, and Ramos gets a hold of it to the right field and out.
Caught by Sowers.
That will end the inning.

Welcome to the Gramer Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith and, as I recently had to confess, I'm the one that barged in while my roommate was sleeping,
talking to myself, slamming the door, and turning on all the overhead lights.
Even worse than my complete lack of situational awareness was the grammar of that previous sentence,
but it's kind of hard to spot, so let's rewind.
I'm the one that barged in.
Did you spot it this time?
If you pointed at that, you're right.
Unless I'm an AI or something not alive, who is preferred to that when referred to.
to a person. Keyword person. Don't use who for animals, no matter how many thousands of dollars
you've spent on their food. This rule gets tricky when you're referring to groups of people,
like sports team. When in doubt, I vote for using who, even if the subject is a reference to people
and not actually a person. That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminut. Visit thegrammerminut.

pitcher Connor Evanich looking for another good inning.
I appreciated that grammar tip.
I never know when to use who or whom.
Agreed.
Up to bat.
Next for Hillsdale number 33.
Will Lehman, first baseman.
We'll get some extra pitches in between innings.
There's a little jump start here on offense as we're still sitting with boilers up to charges.
Nothing.
Now up to bat.
Will Laman
Number 33
Up an edge pitching in a second inning today
Bottom of the six
Chargers looking to put something on the board
Lehman looking to get on base
And the swing and Lehman makes contact
Grounder shortstop grabs it, throws it
and misses
Lehman sides not to go second
didn't quite have the leverage
but shortstop
miss throw to first base
Layman makes it safe, run around first.
Really nice play by the catcher there of all positions that seems to be not important at all
to a ground ball up the middle.
His hustle down the baseline behind Lehman there prevented him from being able to advance
a second on the air throw.
He was ready and grab that ball quick off the fence and Lehman had to second guess his ability
to beat out the throw.
Now off to back, our catcher, Ron.
Wehee, hope to move Lehman across the bases. Zero outs. First pitch coming in, and that's a ball outside. Wehi watches it.
1-0 count, zero outs. Runner on first, hoping to advance. Pitch from Evanich. And Wehi watches that one. Catch the corner of the zone. Strike one.
Count's looking at 1-1 right now. Still no outs, the runner on first. Weehee, the clean-up hitter.
looking to advance.
Hitch coming.
Wehi makes contact.
Bounces to the second baseman.
Can't quite get the guy at a second.
Gets the out at first.
Took a slow bounce.
Lehman was able to get to second,
but they threw him out at first.
Tyler Sowers coming up to hit.
One out, runner at second.
Evanich, looking for more outs this inning.
Sowers looking to advance his runner in scoring position.
Pitch coming in.
makes contact to second base.
He fumbles the ball a bit, gets it and gets it just in time to the first baseman to get the out.
Lehman makes it to third, but that is the second out of the inning.
First baseman's a pretty good day.
Being able to keep those balls from getting past him, but also being able to corral them and getting out.
There's been a huge help for the Oilers defense.
Thorn on the side of hills, it was an offense.
We get some pretty solid hits and some breaks by the fielders fumbling a little bit,
but couldn't quite get on to first there.
Nolan Copens up to bat.
Two outs, one runner on third.
Hillsdale, hoping to get on the board.
Pitch coming in, and that one is inside.
Ball one-oh-count, two outs, bottom of the six.
Evanich.
Pitch coming in.
That one, also outside the zone, two-oh-count.
Sowers. And he makes contact.
Nolan Copens, but he cannot get it down.
Center fielder made the catch.

Welcome to Back to the Brickyard, your spot for Indianapolis 500 history here at Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
I'm Christian Papu.
The 2012 Indy 500 marked the debut of DLara's DW12 chassis,
named an honor of two-time Indy 500 winner Dan Weldon,
who was killed in a racing accident at the end of the previous season.
In qualifications, Ryan Briscoe took the pole position
with an average speed of 226.484 miles per hour.
James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter Ray joined Briscoe on the front row.
Hinchcliff passed Briscoe at the start of the race and led the first lap.
Briscoe was back in front on the next lap
and the pair swapped the lead a total of six times before lap 20.
After six different drivers led the first half of the race,
the second half was essentially a three-man contest.
Scott Dixon, Darya Franketti, and Takuma Sato
all swapped the lead and were contention for a win.
Dixon passed Franketti for the lead on lap 195
before being passed back by both Frankiti and Sato
at the start of lap 199.
On the last lap, Sato made a move for the lead
but crashed into the turn one wall, ending his race.
Frank Heady won the race under caution,
followed by Dixon in second place and Tony Kannon in third.
It was Frankiti's third Indy 500 victory,
making him the 10th member of the three-time winners club.
Largely owing to the new chassis design,
the 2012 Indy 500 featured a then-record 32 lead changes,
breaking the previous record of 29 in 1960.
Fans would only need to wait one more year for the record to be broken again,
but an astounding 68 lead changes between 14 drivers in 2013.
You have been listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.

Certino.
Coming in with a 1-0 count, pitch coming in.
Under the zone, yet again, 2-0 ball, 2-0 count.
McLaughlin still in at pitcher.
Pitch coming.
And strike one.

Two, one count.
Zero outs to start the inning.
Two one count.
Strike two.
Another strike.
Cirotino just watching.
Two, two count.
One out, or zero outs.
McLaughlin coming.
Certino makes contact the center field.
Swenson chasing.
And he makes the catch right by the wall.
Great play by Swenson to hawk that down for the first out of the inning.
I mean, that is an incredible play by one of the best fielders,
not only on the chargers, but just the G-MAC in general.
Swenson able to cover so much of the outfield,
just sprinting all the way back into the wall to make that catch.
Number one, Aidan Booth, up to bat.
One out already on the inning.
McLaughlin, looking to keep it going.
Mitch coming. Booth makes contact.
Just past the shortstop into the left fielder.
Booth is going to take first.
Ball is going to come in.
One out, Booth on first.
Good hustle there by Jason.
It's shortstop.
Laid out for it.
Ball went just past the tip of his glove.
Couldn't quite get there.
Nick Palm back up to bat.
McLaughlin looking to keep the outs coming.
Runner on first.
Looks back at the runner.
Big lead by Booth.
Pitch coming in that one.
Inside, but called a strike.
Just got in the zone.
Count's going to be 0-1 with one out.
Runner on first to start this top of the seventh.
Booth, a little shorter of the lead now.
Pitch in the dirt, but stopped by Wehee.
Great play by the catcher to keep it contained.
1-1 count now, one out.
McLaughlin, I and the runner with the pitch.
And that one, just under the zone.
Palm wanted it, but held back, check swing.
two-one count, one out.
McLaughlin keeps looking back at that runner as he takes more and more space.
Pitch coming.
And, oh, off McLaughlin's feet.
Doesn't know where the ball went in.
Palm makes it to first.
Man, he got rifled in the shins.
Palm ripped it right up the center, bounced off the pitcher's feet, and he just couldn't
find the ball in time.
Runners now on first and second.
That just,
It's just unfortunate.
It goes off your shin.
You're in pain.
You can't tell where it ricocheted off of.
You're afraid it goes up in the air.
You just kind of all over the place.
And despite that, you're trying to get where everyone's yelling at your feet, feet.
And you're like, yeah, it hit my foot.
But now we've got someone coming in from the bullpen for the Chargers.
Looks like number 47.
Winston Delp.
Coming in to relieve McLaughlin.
in the bottom of the seven or top of seven sorry and McLaughlin with it with a great six in a third

Toledo Ohio stories of those who have been awarded the medal of honor this is minute of honor
here's Jinnah Suhita on October 20th 1951 near sang san san san die korea master sergeant woodrow keegel was
serving as a platoon leader
when he saw that friendly elements had become pinned down on a slope by heavy enemy fire.

Ignoring heavy fire, Keeble took a grenade and destroyed the position.

Bottom of the seventh, Finley, two, Charles.
Chargers still looking to get on the board.
They narrowly escaped a dangerous situation at the top of the seventh with bases loaded

I'm interested to see how Sebastian Stevens performs in this outing.
In the first game today, he had two outs in his first two batters and then walked or hit
his next batter and then got pulled.
So I'm interested to see in how these matchups in the second game will fare for him.

October 14th, 1947,
from a Boeing B-29 bomber,

At 20,000 feet, the X-1 launched from the B-29 and sword.
30,000, 40,000, 42, feet into the sky, Yeager accelerated faster until Chuck Yeager reached Mach 1.006 and broke the sound.

spectacular grab in the top of the eighth. Looks like Guard at Swenson's actually leading off,
I believe. Oh, Swenson, my mistake. Yes, center fielder, great in the field so far today. Both
games making tons of plays. Swenson leading off for this inning, hoping to get some runs back.

And now the coaches are coming in to talk to Stevens.
Apparently he has a very short leash.
And they're bringing in, looking to bring in a guy from the bullpen already.
Man, this coach must hate Stevens.
Swenson on second to start the bottom of the eighth.
Hillsdale, looking to cut the 2-0 lead down.

Camden Tuttle, right-handed pitcher for Finley. Coming in with a 6.52 ERA. Hillsdale with a runner on second,
hoping to make something happen and cut the 2-0 lead. Finley so far this game with eight hits,
one error. Hillsdale with five hits.
It's still not able to score in one error.
Coming up to bat is Rocco Tanuta, third baseman with a heavy bat looking to get on the board.
Zero out so far this inning, starting with the top of the lineup.
Hillsdow is set up very nicely to get some runs going.
We'll see how they do.
Gart Swenson off of one of the first pitches to start off this inning,
rip the ball down the right field line, and now is standing at second base while Rocco Tenuda.
is up. The tying run is at the point.
There we go. Let's see what Tanuda can do against a new pitcher. Tuddle. Tuddle, ironed down Swenson at second.
Coach giving some quick coaching points on what to do if funds come. Tuddle.
Thinking about the pitch. Comes in and strike one.
Tanuda watches. O one count. Swenson at second, zero outs.
Tuttle versus Tenuda, who will win?
Tuttle with the 0-1 pitch, high, out of the zone.
1-1 count, Tanuda knows that wasn't there.
Runner on second.
Might start creeping to get a bigger lead.
1-1-count, zero outs.
Tuttle with the pitch, and Tanuta makes contact to the second baseman.
Gets a throw to first and gets the out at first.
Swenson moves to third.
Tanuda with the out there, but moving.
the runner to third base. Now Will Lehman. Up to bat, first base. Got a runner on third, one out.
Normally you're able to see those high chopping balls up the middle to get through, but because
guard was standing on second baseman was hugging tight, trying to keep him honest,
and allowed him to make a play on a ball that normally would be a single for Tanuta.
Layman up to bat.
First pitch takes it, strike.
O-1 count to start, one out, Swenson on third.
Layman looking to drive them home and cut that lead.
The tying run is at bat right now.
Layman takes a hit.
Left fielder backing up, backing, and misses it,
bounces off the wall.
Swenson goes home, Lehman to second,
and gets their standing.
Layman with a hit off the left field wall,
doing a little celebration to his bench.
It looked like for a second there,
that ball was going to have a chance to get over the fence.
But it bounces off the fence,
and they're able to keep him from advancing past second,
while Guard is able to come home standing for a nice run for the chargers.
Ryan Weehee, clean up to bat now.
As Hillsdale scores its first run of this second game, cutting the lead to 2-2-1.
Finley at 2, Hillsdale at 1.

Pitcher Tuddle walking his first batter of the inning.
Fickman at bat.

Off his foot, however, called foul ball.
Finley seems very distraught over this call.
Ball hit off Figman's foot, however.
Fow ball.
O one count.
I mean, that ball definitely went down first.
It seemed to take off a weird angle.
after bouncing near Figman's feet.
So, and the limp definitely seems to show that.
Finley's jugout has a lot to say.
Oh, yeah.
They did not like that.
They thought they had a double play due to Figman's no hustling.
He's pretty sure he got hit, and I'm pretty sure he did it as well.
Figman looking to get on base.
Pitch way off.
One-one count.
Tuttle may be a little shook from that call.

I'm Lauren Smith
And a lot of my information about grammar
is based off my experience as a novelist
Okay this isn't exactly
exactly a case for the grammar hall of shame buzzer. In fact, based off is, yes, fine, but kind of weird if you think about physics.
Suppose you say a tower is based off its foundation. What does that even mean? Based on would be clearer.
The tower is on the foundation. And so in the English language, it's more precise to say something is based on the facts rather than based off.
That said, based off, though it's a relatively new construction, isn't technically wrong.
Dictionaries recognize it. People argue about it.
My advice, as always, is to err on the side of the definitely correct, and based on is just that.
Definitely correct.

Now coming in at the bottom of the ninth, Colin Becker, who ended the game, the first game earlier today in today's double header with Finley and Hillsdale.
Hillsdale now with two runners on.
One on second, one on third, and zero outs.
Hillsdale looking to score three runs to tie it,
four to win it in the bottom of the ninth.
Finley seems to have a really nice group of pitchers
that they like to rely on heavily,
especially in similar days.
That way they don't ever go too deep into their pitchers
and they can use the ones that they know work well.
So that's why we're seeing a lot of repeats
from game one and game two in today.
Up next to bat, number 18,
Billy Pirozky when this pitcher is done warming up.
Pitcher Colin Becker shouldn't be too cold.
He pitched earlier.
Now up to bat, Pirozky, the second baseman.
The runner on second and a runner on third, hoping to drive them in.
This is just following Jake Figman's absolutely smoked ball into the left field wall
that was just barely shy of making it in a home run and a one-run game.
game.
Paraski, the tying run up at bat.
Becker getting it started with an errant pitch and a run.
Number 11, Nolan Copen steals home on that errant pitch.
Figman takes third.
Hillsdale Chargers, now at two runs, the first of this inning.
One ball, no strikes.
Billy Paraski up to bat.
Runner on third, zero outs.
First pitch for Becker was an errant pitch allowing a run to come home.
Second pitch is right.
Prowowski makes contact.
That was close.
Paraski makes contact.
Grounder right to the pitcher's glove where he tosses it to first base to get the first out of the inning.
Now up.
Aaron, Jasek.
That ball was hit hard right at the pitcher on one bouncer and he was able to corral it,
get his glove on the ball and made a good throw over to first.
Billy almost beat it though because the first baseman wasn't quite sure where to put his foot.
That would have been an interesting turn of events.
Jasek, now the winning run.
Another errant pitch stopped by the catcher.
1-0 count, one out, runner on third.
J-sick looking to bring him home.
Next pitch, J-sick fouls it off.
One-one count.
One out.
That one looked a little outside of the zone, but J-Six liked it, so he fouled it off.
Becker with the 1-1 pitch.
Jasek swings and misses.
One-two count now.
One-out.
Runner, still on third.
Jasek, the winning run up at bat, hoping to make something happen here.
Becker, one-two-count.
J-s, makes contact, grounds it to shortstop.
And he is out at first, but Figman scores.
Hillsdale now at three runs.
Finley at four.
Up to bat, the lead.
out guard swenson two outs hillsdale with the top their lineup two outs and needing one run to keep this game going
bottom of the ninth second game of a double header today against finley two runs this inning alone
guard swenson looking to make something happen becker with the pitch right down the middle
swenson didn't like it took the strike zero one count two outs can't take too many of those in this
Becker the pitch. Swenson fouls it off. Good contact just couldn't keep it in bounds. In play.
O2 count, two outs. Becker. O2 count, two outs. Outside. One ball, two strikes, two out. A bold take by Swenson.
Every pitch in this at bat could be the last one of this game. Becker looking to end the game here.
Swenson looking to keep it going. Becker with the pitch.
Outside, not called a strike.
Two, two count, two outs.
Another bold take by Swenson.
Great eye on him in this hat bat.
Becker, two-two count.
Those the pitch.
Another right outside of the zone.
Full count.
Swenson, three bold takes in a row, all paying off for him.
Full count, three balls, two strikes, two outs,
potentially the last pitch of this game.
Becker, Swenson chips it off.
It tells it out, keeps this alive.
Still, three balls, two strikes, two outs.
Bottom of the ninth, Hillsdale needs one to keep this game going.
Swenson, trying to be the man to keep it going.
Becker with a three-two pitch.
And that's the game.
Low and inside, called strike three, and Finley will take the sweep.
First game, Finley wins, six to four.
Second, they win four to three.
