Starting point is 00:00:00 It's been nearly 50 years since the last. The following is a special presentation of WRFH Sports. And welcome. You are listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.1.7 FM Charger baseball. We are back here at home where the Chargers taken on the Lake Erie Storm for the third game out of four this weekend. And on the mound for the Chargers, Jake Pollo,
Starting point is 00:01:09 who was the man on the mound last time we called, and a guy who struggled at the beginning of the year, starting to find things out. See if you can continue that momentum from the last start. He had a complete game, giving up only three runs. Yeah, exactly. and what we saw, I mean, he was getting ahead in the count every time being aggressive, really attacking the zone
Starting point is 00:01:23 and forcing them to swing in some pitches once he did get ahead that maybe weren't the best for the hitter. So excited to see what he's going to do today. And for the Lake Erie Storm, a little unimpressive on paper for their batting, but when they do get a hit, they seem to be sending it pretty much a faraway. They have significantly less hits than the Chargers, but really keeping it in line with their RBI's.
Starting point is 00:01:43 So it's going to be a fun matchup today. We are underway here of Game 3, The weekend series, beautiful Hillsdale, Michigan. Paulo on the bump. Facing off. First one is in there. Outside ball one facing off against number 21 Travis Yankovitch, the second baseman. And he's their guy.
Starting point is 00:02:02 He's batting about 400 right now, so he is definitely the guy that they want to lead off and start. Their guy is to hit one deep and start it up the game right. Quick time here. Apollo resets with 1-0 count here. As he mentioned, last time he pitched a complete game, three earned runs. in a seven-game or seven-in-game versus Thomas Moore. Kick, steals, fires. The 1-0.
Starting point is 00:02:24 In there for a strike with a fastball pallo. Ties up the counted one. Beautiful day here at Hillsdale. As we said, Chargers split the two games with Lake Erie yesterday. The 1-1. Outside and low. Ball two, as the Chargers do have a different man behind the plate. It appears it is not classic Will Millard.
Starting point is 00:02:46 The 2-1. A jest outside and low. A great effort to frame that. Leave that behind the plate. Trying to figure out who that is. It is not Will Millard. Unless he's wearing a different jersey number. I think so.
Starting point is 00:03:04 The 3-1. Palo lines it in there. Yankovic. Billy tries to get at the second basement and it falls in for a bloop single. And a single start there for Yankovic. Just kind of found the zone there and was able to drop one in. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Not the best contact. the world but it finds a soft spot where everybody's running at it in the outfield and he's going to get on base which has been the story of his season so far great start for lake erie one man on no out paula trying to get out of this early against their second man here first pitch is in there for a strike looked like it was on the inner half going up against number 22 micah greasy the sophomore as well playing out there and left field today for the storm pickoff attempt on Yankevich. That's going to have to be their game for most of it, really keeping an eye on the runners.
Starting point is 00:03:56 I mean, this year for Lake Erie, 67 stolen base attempts, 66 have then successful, so they're a team that's going to take advantage of the base pads. Paulo on the 01, fouled away. Great pitch there on the inner half, able to get them to swing. Great effort to foul it off, though, and moves to 0.2. Run around first is Yankovic. Zero, zero here early in this one. Apollo trying to work off that last game.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Throws back again at Yankevich. Slides in safely. Good job by Will Lehman over there at first base to control it. Still O2, letting him know that can't really take one against me. We know you want to steal, especially with a different catcher in for the chargers. The O2. Just outside, a good one, but not able to frame it. One ball, two strikes.
Starting point is 00:04:51 A loop single from Yankovic, able to give them a runner with no outs. The 1-2 fouled away far to left field. Great cut there by Greasy. Just a little late on the fastball, able to foul one deep. One ball, two strikes. Runner on first, no-outs here for the Chargers, top of one. Hollow the 1-2, just outside. Able to control it in the 2-2 now.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Hollow here, not working as fast as he did through the last couple innings of his last games, where we were saying he was great complete game a lot of early outs this one struggling here the two two runner goes on the transfer the ball is dropped there on the transfer great effort looks like back there's john hunter john hunter number 36 excuse us for the misconfusion we're so used to seeing will Millard back there at All-Star type catcher. Now the 3-2 runner-on second outside for Paulo, ball four, and now you have two and on, no out. And their three-hole hitter number zero, Jek's increased. And, you know, this is where Lake Erie is going to have to strive is with runners on. I mean, like I said before, they don't get hits often. When they do, they hit them
Starting point is 00:06:19 deep, they hit them far and their extra base hits. So when you got ducks in the pond, it's time to send them home. Crease playing first today for the storm. O-O count here. Runners on first and second with greasy and yankevich no man out paolo great one there finds the mid of hunter for the first strike attacking the zone like he did last time gonna see if he can find getting some outs here though he keeps sitting ahead he's gonna have to put him away like here he's staying very patient at the plate the o one from paolo outside almost got him on the corner couldn't couldn't get the call there for paolo now the one-one Chargers here trying to survive the first inning. Two men on, no out one-one.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Yankevich and Greasy as we said are on. Follow kick steals, fires the one-one's outside as well. Seems to be trying to attack that outside half, maybe get a double play. You get Rocco there third to turn it, and then this inning's turned on its head with a double play. Exactly. And with this Lake Erie team having its best start since 2019,
Starting point is 00:07:26 it's a little bit different than what they're used to for the Chargers. Chargers said that 500. The 2-1 followed off. Another good cut there from Cresta. Not able to straighten it out. Pollo works it back to 2-2. As I mentioned, Chargers just hovering at about 500 on the record this year. A young team, definitely.
Starting point is 00:07:44 So there's going to be some ups. There's going to be some downs. But this is a good series. They split yesterday hoping to get off on the right foot with this first game. Here at 1 p.m. The 2-2, no outs. Pollo. That's a line or end of the gap.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Is it going to fall? It does. What a shot there. And runners are going around. Yankovitch will score. Greasiel score. Coming into third is creased and a bases clearing triple. With no out still in this one, Impalo's got his hands full. Yeah, and I mean exactly what I called from the start. They're going to be a hard hitting team that's going to get it deep in there. And he absolutely just rifles one to deep, left, center field, finds the gap and then runs all the way around for a triple there. So a great start for the storm. Although you could ask for a much better. start from your team hitting wise and it's not something they're known for to get a lot of guys on base but they're doing it here against paolo
Starting point is 00:08:34 now they have their d h graham solick no outs runner on third the o-o Paulo able to find one there to the mid of hunter as we said could be something to watch a different catcher as we saw paolo and mallard worked together last time he pitched two nothing early here for the storm and a great pitch again from paolo up o2 now trying to make quick work of this fourth batter with a runner on third See if he can keep them stranded, keep the damage limited to two. Paulo. Great hit there from Solac down the right line. It's going to find the dugout of the Chargers.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Count's going to stay 02. It's got to get a little worrying for Paulo out there. It seems like they're just getting the bat around and able to find contact on everything they're throwing here. And it appears for Paul. He's throwing a lot of fastballs here early and Austin. He's not afraid to find his own. We saw that last game.
Starting point is 00:09:25 See if he mixes in a couple off speeds. He's able to catch a man swinging because these bats are aggressive early from Lake Error. early, eerie. Kind of late in the count, they're going after it. Yeah, exactly. The O2, big pitch here for Apollo early down to nothing to the storm. Kicksteels, fires followed away back into the net. And another great swing by Solek, again, trying to find another gap as his buddy creased did with the basis clearing triple last AB. And they're definitely sitting fastball here. I mean, it's not a timing problem for these guys. Paulo's got to switch things up and I get as a pitcher when you get in these slumps to start early,
Starting point is 00:09:57 you just want to run it by him. Tries to run it by him again. fouled off off the net got him a little late on the last three maybe pulled the string and so that could be sitting that off speed because we haven't seen many of them early not yet and you know this could be the chemistry thing that we see because it's not malar behind the plate there John Hunter playing about 13 games so far this season right swing again and he's early there was the off speed got him out in front but it's fouled again down the third base line John Hunter gonna toss that ball over the pitcher's head there.
Starting point is 00:10:32 I don't know if he can take a base. I thought that they were paying attention. They might have been able to steal home there on a bad throwback to the pitcher. And as a former pitcher, that's the one thing that I would get frustrated because you're getting into a rhythm. You just want that ball in your mitt. You want to get this next pitch, especially with two runs early. See what Apollo has with the O2.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Run around. Third is Christ. Fowled off once again. Excuse me, that's Jackson. Creeced. Spelled the same. Different pronunciation. Very important.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Very important. They made that in the notes important. The O2 again, a fourth foul ball in a row. And what an ad pat here from Soak. The O2, once again, Paulo kicks deals, fires up and out. First ball of the A.B. And I tell you what, this pitch count is starting to ramp up. And in a four-game home series, you're starting to dwindle down on the pitchers you can throw.
Starting point is 00:11:29 The one-two. Paulo delivers it on the outside. Great block there from John Hunter not allowing the runner from third to get home. John clearly shown his experience. I believe he's a junior or senior this year. Yeah, he's a senior from Pensacola, Florida. Trinidad's Christian High School. The two two fouled off once again, and what an at bet here from number 10, Graham Solock.
Starting point is 00:11:57 The senior here, 6-1-215 from Amherst, Ohio. Marionel Steel High School. The Ohio product, keeping it at home with Lake Erie. A storm up 2-0 here in this long first inning. Kick-Steels fires low. And what an ad bad. Works it to 3-2 being down 0-2. Now all of a sudden, coach Tom Vasella has some troubles here.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Five foul balls, five pitches, 10 pitches, the 11th on the way. Kick-Steels, fires. The full count, payoff pitch, down the line, foul again. And I tell you what. This is one of the best A-Bs I've seen all year. Well, I mean, he's staying patient. I mean, and it's hard to do when you're down O2. Usually you're going to be swinging at anything you see.
Starting point is 00:12:41 But he's got a good C&I right now. Fought his way back. Three-two now, no-outs, run around. Third, two-nothing lead for the storm. The payoff pitch. Outside and it works a walk. And that's something to fire your dugout up. When you are able to work a pitcher like that,
Starting point is 00:12:57 get him to throw 11 pitches in 1-A-B, and he doesn't have an out yet. at runners on the corners. I mean, that is absolutely shocking. John Hunter doing the right thing here. Go talk to your pitcher for a little bit. Let's calm this guy down. Let him know that he's got this and that, you know, even though it's a rough start,
Starting point is 00:13:12 it's nothing to be worried about. And we've seen the Chargers offense explode before two runs is not a game-ending amount of runs. As we said, I know there's no-house runners on the corners. You start to move down that lineup, lesser hitters, as we said, Lake Erie can struggle. And the Chargers, last time we were here, two home runs from one from Will Lehman. both to left field and the other one by Billy Poroski. So definitely could be something where the Chargers obviously struggling here, but if they get out of this inning, double play here, get you two,
Starting point is 00:13:42 they get a little momentum, they get those bats going. They're right back in the game. So I think that's what coach is probably telling him. Just get a couple outs here. Focus on the batter at hand. Don't worry about the score. Don't worry about the runners on. Get this man out.
Starting point is 00:13:55 And the man that will be given him the challenge here appears to be number 45. I don't know if we have on the Ross Jarrett Esposito. Garrett Esposito. Outfielder for Lake Erie, the first ones outside, ball one. Batting amazingly this year, but he doesn't seem to be getting the start. Many times you're only starting about 15 of these games so far this season, but batting 388 as that's a strike in there. On the 1-0, works it back to 1-1.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Paolo, as we said, you just got to worry about your batter at hand with no outs here. Runners on the corners down 2-0. Kick steals, fires a great one. Big pitch there. Esposito wanted to take that one far out of here. Wasn't able to get it 1-2 now. Palo settling in after the pitcher's widget. Pitch on its way to the second baseman, Porowski, got to make a tough play. Does. Runner scores, but a great play there on a kind of a twister towards Porowski, able to handle it. Finds Lehman, one out. Runner on second for Soak. Weird hop there, but Billy was able to take care of. of it, handle it on the bounce.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Get in the glove, throw it over first, get the out. There it is. Crease from third, going to score there and make this a 3-0 game early in the first inning. Now up Mitchell Simcheck, utility redshirt sophomore. The O-O. Great pitch there. Back to Porowski. Got to make a tough play in the hole.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Spinning gets it. Lehman reaches. What a play there in the hole by Porowski. That's what this team does. you know, we saw it last week against Malone. This team really does not get many errors defensively. They're one of the better teams in the league and in the conference with their fielding percentage right now.
Starting point is 00:15:46 So, I mean, you're going to have to make plays like that, especially when they're getting, you know, these early hitting routes like they are right now. Great spinning play from Porowski to Laman, able to get the second out. Run around. Third is Solek. Now up the freshman Alex Jones playing center field.
Starting point is 00:15:59 First pitch ripped on to the shortstop Janassic. He'll throw it across and out. Great play. there to get out of it with only three runs from Apollo. Trying to find some momentum. A great play by Jessica in the hole. Let's get to get us to a quick break. You're listening to Radio for Yieldsdale 101.7 FM Charger baseball.
Starting point is 00:16:16 I'm Gordy. I'm Ryan. The original expression probably didn't involve dimes at all, but had something to do with six pences or five cent pieces. The idea behind it was that a small denomination coin doesn't take up much space. So anything that turns or changes on a dime does so rapidly. Early on, it usually applied to things that take up physical space. Cars, dancers, and baseball players could do things on dimes,
Starting point is 00:16:48 meaning either with speed and precision or in the case of baseball players without covering all the ground they were supposed to. This latter use is probably how the expression was popularized, although its meaning subsequently changed. What was once a fantastic and fresh metaphor is now a cliche. This is a common fate of particularly catchy expressions. That's your grammar minute. Hello and welcome back.
Starting point is 00:17:15 You're listening to Radio Freelsdale 101.7 FM Charger, baseball, bottom one, charges down 3-0, and they will have to face Dominic Pultron. The junior 6-5-227 from Avon Lake, Ohio, Avon Lake High School, should be an interesting one, as he is about their second guy in the rotation, as we kind of determined. He's one of their best, and in a four-game series like this, you want to pitch those guys and get a win here, with some insurance early.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Yeah, well, I mean, he's right now holding about a 654 ERA, but something I noticed while looking at his stats here is that he's got a bad, you know, his batting average that he pitches against about a 236, but yet he has a high ERA. So what that makes me think, and looking at the stats confirmed this, is that when he does give up a hit, they're bigger heads. You know, he's not giving up a lot of singles. He's giving up those bomb shots.
Starting point is 00:18:04 He's giving up triples. He's given up doubles. He actually leads the team and giving up home runs. So it could be a time if the Chargers wanted to jump on that ball and possibly come back. this is the time to do it he'll be delivering it to number 26 Mitchell sim check who's a utility guy he will have the catching duties today kind of moving guys around in this third he'll have to face the freshman center field of guard Swenson you're underway here bottom one three nothing lead
Starting point is 00:18:32 Swenson digs in here the first pitch in there for a strike nice fastball has got a lot of pop on it from what I can see from up here this wants to be a great guy to get on first. He's got a little bit of speed. He's their single hitter. Someone you can get on early and run reliably on the basis. Petron up 0-1 in the count. No out. It's kick steals. Fires inside and low. The 1-1 now. Lake Erie trying to, as we said, snipe this third game and then they'll play again later at 4. But this would be a huge one if Petron can give him some innings, kind of save that bullpen for the last game. The 1-1 to Swenson. Great off speed. Get Swenson swinging out in front of it.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Pulled the string there, trying to catch up with that fastball. Got caught there, and now the 1-2. Swenson digs back in. Scouting the storm a little bit. Their most impressive jump has been their jump on the pitch on the mound here. They cut off-to-earned runs on the mound. Another off-speed. Swenson able to wait on it a little late down the third base line.
Starting point is 00:19:34 Great patience there. Try to get them with the put-away curveball. Back to Patron with the 1-2 near the storm dugout. when you can cut off two earned runs in a year, it's a great upsized by your pitching staff right there. Patron here, the one two to Swenson. Another off speed high and outside. Ball two. Trying to get that putaway pitch, as we mentioned.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Swenson working the count back to two-two. The two-two from Patron. Kick steals, fires. Inside, fastball got him swinging in the first K of the night for the storm. A little bit of Moxie from Patron. after that one kind of throws up his arm. Says see you later. Fired up.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Now the third baseman, Rocco Tanuta. Giving a chance here from Illinois. Trying to give the Chargers a little spark. Their big hitter in the three holes at Kemp, the D.H. On deck here awaiting Tanuta. One down the O-O from Patron. Gets it outside with that fastball. Great pop as you hear it hit in the mitt of Simcheck.
Starting point is 00:20:45 1-0 really trying to fire it in there as a big pitcher got that advantage kind of leaning forward here on tanuda the 1-0 from patron inside tanuta swings a great hit to the left field and it's a single for rocko and as we see right there big pitcher throwing big fastballs but once you get a hold of one you can really make some great contact and that's an excellent line drive single by rocko tanuta right there Rocco Tenoosa swings on it and now you got that righty lefty matchup that you love as a hitter. If you're Zach Kent here, this is a chance to get the Chargers. Some momentum down three nothing early. One out.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Taduon first. Zach Kent had that huge home run last week in the second game of the two game alone series. Double header, excuse me. Another home double header charger fans trying to see a win here. Kent, the OO, Teno, Teno on first. Petrone kicks deals fires that fastball in there for a strike. Again, he loves that fastball. We've seen it.
Starting point is 00:21:42 He's got a big looping curveball off of it. It could be something to watch if he's leaving it over the front of the plate. Could be something to watch. The 0-1 to Kent. Tenoon first. Kick steals, fires. Great swing there from Ken a little late over. Going to be on the left side, popped up out of bounds.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Over the Lake Erie dug out a great swing there from Kent, but now it's 02. The one thing you don't want here is a double play. kind of cut off that momentum from the Tenova single. Zach Kent, rocking a signature, no-glove action here. Yeah, you love to see that even on a cold day. He's not afraid to get the hands ringing with those metal bats. The O-2 from Petron. Tenoon, first one out.
Starting point is 00:22:24 3-0 lead here for the storm. Petrome waits delivers. Kent swings on it again, just a little behind, follows it off behind the dugout to the left. Went with the fastball up, O-2, just trying to put him away. Kent's not having it, follows it off again. And let's think what you sit here as a batter. I mean, you've got to be swinging at almost everything down O2.
Starting point is 00:22:46 And as a pitcher, you kind of have everything you can work with here. Try to find something low, ground into a double play. Get out of the inning if you're Petron. O2, 1 out. Kick steals, fires on the inner half. Fowled off again there by Kent. Try to get him with the inside fastball, tough pitch from Patron. But Kent fouls it off again.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Great at bad. I know he only has, or has no balls, two strikes, but really fighting here with three foul balls in a row. And with how many pitchers? pitches Paolo just had in that past, and it's good to try and work this Lake Erie Storm pitcher here. Kick steals fires, zero two. Curve ball into the hole.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Tough play by the second baseman turns, fires, gets him out. Fires it over to Creece. Now there's two down, runner in scoring position to Nudey able to advance. But a great play thereby the second baseman, Travis Yankovich. One of their best players, the sophomore, as you mentioned, had that lead-off hit that kind of started things. Now, the big freshman, first baseman, Will Lehman, with a chance. against the score. It's new to cut this lead to two.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Will Lehman had that huge home run against Malone last week, right over the left field wall. About 340 feet. Layman digs in the O-O. Kicksteel's fire is a great pitch. Outside, looked close. I'm just not going to give it to him. 1-0 count, and as we said,
Starting point is 00:24:07 Chargers have been working the counts a little bit here early. Staying patient, trying to figure things out. Down 3-0 early, bottom 1. 2 outs, runner on second, 1-0 count. The 1-0. Great rip there by Lehman. It's in the outfield, the left field, and that's going to score Tanuta easily, and an RBI single for Will Lehman.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Exactly we have to do there. Will Lehman, going to rack up another RBI here. That's going to be his 26 on the year. One G-Mack player of the week last week for his game against Malone, and now continuing the streak he's on. It's this young team. You've got to love the tenacity of everything like that. I mean, these guys are going to be aggressive.
Starting point is 00:24:44 They want to swing the ball. That's like what they've done all in high school, and they're going to get on top of one there and drive any. single RBA. Great job there from Lehman to Nudel. Got a great jump on. It scored easily. Now the O.O.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Runner on first. Curve ball inside. Augie Hutchinson playing right field. Another one of those seniors. Him and Zach Kent. A couple leaders on this young team. See what Augie's got here. The 1-0 count.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Layman on first. Two outs. 3-1. Chargers cutting the lead to two, as we mentioned. Petronne. Fowled off there by Hutchinson. Chargers are really timing it up. well where they're making contact not whiffing but just a little late,
Starting point is 00:25:22 little early on that fastball from Patron and the curveball that he pairs off of it. The 1-1 run around first, two outs. Trone takes this time here. The 1-1 on its way. Inside again. They're going to say it hit him. And that nicked him. Close there.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Hutchinson did not seem phased. Even with the fastball that Petron has been threw. throwing two inside curveballs. Second one hits him, and now great opportunity from the catcher, John Hunter. That is a huge play there by Hutchinson to stand in there strong. Take one on the shoulder, get runners on first and second. Now I know there's two outs, but a base hit here scores the runner from second. Here comes Hunter.
Starting point is 00:26:12 The O-O count, two down. Three-one ball game here in the third of the four games this afternoon. Pitch is high there and now Petron has to kind of settle in and he's struggling a little bit as the chargers have jumped on him at the bottom of the first. John Hunter filling in for the catching duties of Millard. Petron, the 1-0.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Outside again, but it catches the corner. Looked like a ball from up here. Ump gives it to him. Moves the count to 1-1. Hunter staying patient. He knows this is a huge at-bat. Even though it is early, if you can get another run here cut it to one that struggling first outing for paulo is
Starting point is 00:26:56 diminished but a great pitch there on the fastball away goes back to it gets hunter to swing cut moves to one two one ball two strikes two outs runners on first and second hutchinson and layman hunter takes his time in the batters box the one two on its way great cut there by hunter followed off to the right side for guy like john hunter who hasn't seen a lot of plate appearances thus far this season. I think this is just an opportunity. Play the fundamentals right here. Extend those hands. Let's get a single here, drive in some runs. Don't have to hit a hit one out here to make this game close. Petrone 1-2. Runners on first and second two outs. Three-one ball game. Patron, stairs back to second. Takes his time, delivers hanging curveball down the third base line and it's foul.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Even that curve ball across the plate Hunter liked it, just couldn't straighten it out. Just out of the hands. The third baseman, Seth Yabacucci. Dominic Patron started out hot. Thought he might get out of the setting with only a few pitches, but now it's up there again. The one two, Hunter back into the box. Big pitch on the way from Patron. Outside, Hunter files it off with two strikes. It looks like Hunter decided before that pitch was coming that he was going to swing.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Lucky to foul that one off there. Great job protecting with two strikes, two outs. He knows how important this AB is early, trying to help out his pitcher. catcher John Hunter. Turner's on first and second. Back at it again with the one-two patrol. Inside. Hunter turns it to the shortstop. Should be a rhythm play.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Gets him at third. Kind of bottled it. Great job to flip it. Able to get him out there and that'll end the inning. Chargers down 3-1 here. Take you to a quick break. You're listening to Radio for Yillsdale. 101.1.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Charger baseball. I'm Gordy. I'm Ryan. Most Americans think of Marlon. It does get one run back onto the school board. Most Americans think of Mark Zuckerberg's meta. They think of Instagram and Facebook and maybe threads. Its chat platform WhatsApp has not been as quickly adopted as it has in Europe, Asia, and Africa,
Starting point is 00:29:09 mostly because U.S. phone networks include free texting in one way or another. WhatsApp often seems unnecessary unless you had contacts outside the U.S. who rely on it. But the app's other features, such as broadcasts, channels, and status updates have grown in popularity, as they allow a mass dissemination of messages to large or multiple large groups. And that has led to spam complaints. Now, according to TechCrunch, Meta says they will be testing limits on WhatsApp broadcast messages in the coming months in hopes of curbing the spam problem. Even WhatsApp business accounts may see limits,
Starting point is 00:29:43 though Meta is planning on a new paid tier for business accounts that will include features aimed at helping merchants do their marketing. With Fox on Tech, I'm Evan Brown, Fox News. Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Ready for Heelsdown. 101.7 FM Charger baseball top of inning two here. Paolo returning to the mound. Two stranded there with two outs after the dribbler from Hunter and Patron.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Not the inning he was necessarily looking for the way it started with a couple outs. Got Zach Ken out. Rocco Tenoosa scores on the single from Lehman and the Chargers are only down two. As we mentioned, Chargers bats can get hot throughout that whole lineup. And if they're able to keep a low-scoring inning here, who knows what can happen. Yeah, and let's just keep the bats consistent here for Hillsdale. Let's keep getting guys on base and everything's going to take care of itself. You can't worry about the score too much.
Starting point is 00:30:37 I mean, obviously you've got to worry about it a little bit. It's the point of the game. But I mean, don't worry about just getting that home run shot. Get on base. Let's move some guys around. And for Lake Every Storm, let's start adding insurance early, huh? I mean, if you can keep those bats hot like they were that first inning, why not? Just let a rip.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Keep it going to get on Paulo, getting his head a little bit. The mental game. of baseball here at linda and glinda stadium up now third baseman seth yebabuchi it's a fun name yeah or yakabuchi excuse me one ball no strikes on the first one from paolo kick steals fires inside great job there to get a strike fouled out behind him moves to count to one one macabucci looking for his first hit of the season so far just a red shirt freshman from tallam Tameh, Ohio. Tala Mange High School, crown the plate here. See what Pollo's got. Kix Steel fires the 1-1.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Great job. Swinging on it. Turns it popped to left field. Should be an easy play. Camped under it is Sowers, and he gets the out there. One down and a quick AB from Pollo. It's a way to come back at it, get aggressive. You know you've got a guy who hasn't gotten any hits this season.
Starting point is 00:31:47 You know you'd be a little bit more aggressive with him. Gets the fly out there to left center field. And it's a good way to start the inning. low pitch count there onto the next the 01 here swinging there the shortstop cadiz center field going to be a tough play
Starting point is 00:32:05 rhythm there in center field for Swenson and another quick A-B and now he's got two down no runners on and only a couple pitches in this one the hitter there was Zimbabh Kediz fun little name there from Buenos Aires Argentina
Starting point is 00:32:21 wow the short stop now he's got two out working here just outside great pitch there for Bala one ball no strikes appears to be I don't know who's at bet here the 1-0 outside again moves the 2-0 looks like Travis Yankovitch back up lineup turns over and Yankovitch the man who had the single that started things off against Paulo the 2-0 inside ripped right back up to Apollo tough play in the shortstop from Janastic fires and across the line got him what a play from Jasek to Lehman.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Oh my goodness, and that Charger defense gets Paulo out of it with under 10 pitches. Wow, a great job by the Charger defense there, and that is going to keep it a 3-1 game. We're going to take you to a quick break. You're listening to Radio Freelesdale, 101.7 FM Charger Baseball. I'm Gordy. I'm Ryan. Hello, and welcome back. You're listening to Radio for Yousdale, 101.7 FM Charger Baseball.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Great play at the end of that on the shift, partially against the lead-off hitter. 21 Travis Yankovich and a great play in the hole by Aaron Jasek, the sophomore from Kalamazoo, Parchman High School. And now one of the guys who made one of those outs in left field, Tyler Sowers, he's let off a couple of these series at the top of the order, working the bottom of the order now, and he's a great hitter and a guy you don't want to get on the base pass as he can fly. Yeah, and another young guy batting 360 right now.
Starting point is 00:33:50 And with how this pitcher ended, you know, they had the two out, you know, kind of rally there at the end, you know, get a nice single RBI, and Sowers could take advantage of possibly a little bit of a mental game there with the pitcher who started to put him away fast and then maybe now we're starting to catch on to what he's throwing, maybe a few of his tendencies here. Patron versus Sowers here in a 3-1 ball game, bottom two. First pitch from Paltron into Sowers on its way. Inside curveball, great one finds the zone, started at the top of his head, found the zone,
Starting point is 00:34:24 early with that fastball or with that change-up curveball action. gets ahead in the count on one. The O one to Sowers. Outside, going to find the zone. Great job framing it there from the catcher. Michael Samasik. And a great job to move the count to O2. And quick work here from Petron,
Starting point is 00:34:43 trying to have an inning like Pollo did at the top of the second. The O2, followed away by Sowers back into the net. Great pitch. Try to go to the outside corner once again. Sowers not having it, follows it back. 3-1. Both teams with one. only two hits in this game.
Starting point is 00:35:01 A couple walks from Pollo early and we got a two-run game. The O2, outside against Sowers. Great job finding it, follows it off by the dugout of Hillsdale. One thing I love about Sowers, just kind of has that kind of unexpected power you see from an outfielder. About 25% of his hits are going to be more than a double or a more. The O2 from Patron. On its way outside, great take there from Sowers. three in a row on the outside one of them was called a questionable strike sours takes that one moves the count to one two
Starting point is 00:35:36 drone here struggling to put away guys when he gets into an advantageous count the one two hanging curveball sowers wants it he knows it fouls it down the fair base or the first base line and moves the count still staying here at one two but a great job there from sowers you know he's kicking himself because that that was a hanging curve ball tried to turn on it was a little late. Still back here at 1-2. Patrone trying to get us first out of the inning. No out. It's 3-1 lead for the storm. Another curveball Sowers isn't going to miss this one into center field and a single for Tyler Sowers. You've got to be kicking yourself when you're up on the mountain there. You get up to another guy getting an 02 count and you can't put him away. Great job there from Sowers. Stay in patient. Missed the curve ball on the last one doesn't miss this one, finds it into center and now up the second baseman, Billy Parowski, at home run last weekend see if he can replicate that try to find a base great second baseman defensively see what
Starting point is 00:36:37 he can find here hitting against poltroon run around first no outs bottom second three one lead for the storm first one's on the way and finding that outside corner again um seems to be giving it to him and patrol's not afraid to take it up oh one now in the count speedy sowers on first making sure to check out Sowers he could be on the move deal one kick steals fires and a bun from Piroowski a great one down the third base line going to be tough play by the third baseman makes the play great job there by number one set Yatakobucci over to Creece gets the first out but does move the runner over now you have a running in scoring position just smart baseball from the charges yeah exactly almost ran that one out too made it a
Starting point is 00:37:30 tough play over there from the third basement but he was able to grab it throw it over there pretty easily now up erin jacic made the great play at the end of the top of the second three one here runner on second is sours base knock scores him here from jacic the o o taking his time checking out sours delivers hanging curveball in there for a strike he's kind of moved to that curveball early in the count we saw in the first inning he's been live of fastballs, a lot of fastballs early. Now he's kind of moving to that off speed, trying to keep the chargers on their toes. One out, the nine-hole hitter, J-Sick.
Starting point is 00:38:08 The O-1. J-Sick turns on one down the right field line, is foul over by the football field and the food trucks today. Here in Hillsdale. Pretty excited to go get something myself. I'm not going to lie here. Can't fault us for that. Sounds fantastic. You can smell it from up here in the box.
Starting point is 00:38:25 The O-1 now to J-6 hours on second one-out, 3-1 lead for the storm. Paul Trone, kicksteel's fires outside, can't find the corner there, 1-1 now. Trone, kind of finding his groove here, looking at his catcher, nodding his head, yes. It seems like he's known what he's going to do to get through the rest of this game. Trying to get out of this inning unscathed, but Sowers on second with one out. J-Sick up to hit. Excuse me, the count is 1-2 now after that foul ball. Big pitch on the way from Patron, taking his time, kick steals, fires fouled off.
Starting point is 00:39:00 ripped it towards the dugout of the chargers. Great swing from Jasek. Kind of got the batter there. Jasek a little bit off balance. I don't think he was expecting that much speed because that was a stinging fastball. Yeah, he's been throwing a lot off speed, mixing in that great fastball that we've seen early.
Starting point is 00:39:15 The 1-2 Sowers on, second one out. Here at bottom two. Trone taking us time. Kick-Steels fires. Great hit there from J-Sick. It's going to find the outfield over the second basement. Sowers is going to put the brakes on. Trying to go to second.
Starting point is 00:39:31 They got him in a pickle, but nobody's on first. Can Jason get back? He can. Wow. Great job there from Jasek. Thought they might throw home sending Sowers who has speed. They hold them there. Jasek kind of gets caught in pickle, but nobody covers first.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Yeah, exactly. And you can't blame Jasek there trying to take it too. So if the guy on second does score there, he can get to second and avoid any sort of double play. But a great way to get back. Notice nobody's on first there, and that's a little bit of a defensive air there by the storm not covering first there. Yeah, they hit the cut off.
Starting point is 00:40:00 off well, but then they had nowhere to throw when Jasek was in the pickle, and now you have the top of the line of guard, Swenson. The freshman center fielder, the leftie versus Petron. Runners on the corners, one out, 3-1 ball game here, bottom two. Petron the O-O. throws back to Jasek, almost got him. It didn't look like Jasek was necessarily ready for it, but he gets back in safely. Yeah, Jasek a little shock there. And if Jasek runs here and they throw down, obviously Sowers is going to be looking to play home so a little cat and mouse game here with runners on the corners and one out trying to avoid the double play so it's in the box here one out kicks deals fires first pitch fouled off back by us finds the net
Starting point is 00:40:38 great swing from swenson attacking that early fastball one thing to note about patron not much of a strike out pitcher's not a swing and miss guy someone that can you know though he's going to make him hit a weak contact in play it's really going to be hoping for that now get a double play get him out of this inning three one chargers down two with four hits to lake Geary's two. Great pitch there. The high fastball moves the count to O2. Now if you're Swenton's you're playing defense, the one thing you don't want, obviously, is a double play, but you really do not want to strike out. Any sort of high fly ball will score the speedy sowers from third, and that would cut the lead to one. Big at bat here. Petrone knows it. The O2 takes his time,
Starting point is 00:41:20 settles in, end of the pitch clock. Delivers. High, fastball, great pop on it. Not able to find his own. Great job there from Swenson to take that one. I mean, sometimes impossible to take off. Just take a high fastball like that. That cheddar really can just seem deceivingly good to hit. One two count. Runners on the corners are JASIC and Sowers. One out. On its way, put away, pitch on the off speed. Gets Swenson whiffing. And now he's got two outs.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Runners on the corners. And look at who is up. The man who scored last inning, Rocco Tanuta. The great defensive third baseman, and he loves the moment, as we mentioned. Last time we were here, a single will score Sowers, and if it finds a gap, you know that Jason can fly. So it could be two runs, tie this game up. Huge at bat on the way from Tanuta. Go lives for these clutch moments here, and even though it's early in the game, any sort of runs when you're down,
Starting point is 00:42:15 you just got to love being in this situation. Jason gets a lead off there first. Trone, taking his time, thinking about throwing back, doesn't. delivers home outside with that curve ball. Rocco, Tanuta, up 1-0 in this count. Two outs, runners on the corners, 3-1. They get bad, as we mentioned. Tanuda can find something here.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Could leave some momentum with Zach Kent on deck. Tanuta. Another high, fastball, great take there from Tanuda. Moves the count to 2-0. Now Petron is really thinking about what he's got to do here to get out of this one. Any hit here, both runners will be moving. The 2-0. Tanuda settling in, crowding the plate here. Trone.
Starting point is 00:43:05 Kick, steals, fires. High fastball again, and Rocco Tanuta. Very patient at the plate has moved the count to 3-0. And now this is one where I think you just take all the way. Even if it's a great pitch, you've got to be patient. That's just my opinion. You get bases loaded for Zach Kent. Anything can happen.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Let's see here. You know, the young kids always like to swing a little bit, be more aggressive. He loves this moment. See what Tanuda has. The 3-0. Outside. died and it finds the corner again. At least he's been consistent. The hump has called that outside a strike every time.
Starting point is 00:43:35 Calls it again. Now 3-1. Tuna appeared to be taken all the way there. Bait, big pitch there from Patron. Now it's 3-1. Runners on the corners. Big pitch on the way. J-Sik on the run, hit and run. Tanuta, deep fly ball to center field should be camped under it. Right-fielder calls him off, and he's out of the inning. Great job there from Patron to stay poised and get out of the inning. 3-1, Chargers down 2 has moved to top of the three. Do a quick break here.

On Tuesday, March 25th, long-time video game news source, Game Informer, came back with a vengeance. The thing that came as a shock was the outpouring of support. support and enthusiasm that came from you as readers and from people around the industry. Starting point is 00:44:57 when we shut down this past summer. On the site currently, multiple top 10 lists, reviews, previews, and videos. Amen Dignam. Fox News. Hello and welcome back. You are listening to Radio Freezers at 101.1.7 FM Charger Baseball. Top three here, Paulo, back on the mound after a great second inning working through the lineup. Now he's got a tough task facing number 22, Micah Greasy, who did score in that huge onslaught of runs in the first inning.
Starting point is 00:45:29 So the tough part of the lineup, and then behind him is Jackson, Creeced, who did have that basis clearing triple. A couple lefties on the way. Let's see what Pollo's got after that great second inning. 3-1 here, Chargers down two. Top three, first pitch on the way. Outside, Hunter traps it. Ball one. Chargers have had runners on.
Starting point is 00:45:51 They are leading four to two in the hit department. Just haven't been able to find him home. Apollo, the 1-0 delivers it in the hole. Porovsky's got to make a tough play, ranging to his left, gets it in there. Layman and another play from Peroski at second and out early for Paulo. Yeah, he's having a great day defensively there, Parowski. You know, that's what his second play going deep into the hole there. Really makes it seem like it's routine for him.
Starting point is 00:46:12 I mean, just something he practices all the time and, you know, no stress, no anxiety about it, just gets it over there for the easy out. Him and Lehman with that connection second to first and quick work. And now he's got Jackson Creased who have that triple in the first. First one's outside, ball one for Paulo, and he is working early at that pitch clock. Not afraid to go after these hitters trying to get through this inning as quick as he did the last. Kick steals fires. Great pitch in there for a strike on the outer half. It's a 1-1-1 now, one-out.
Starting point is 00:46:42 Checks increased, first baseman. The 1-1. Paulo on the inside, deep-fly ball to center field. Going to be a tough play for Swenson. He camps under it by the Charger horse head and the second out again for Paulo. This is definitely just Paolo's game. I mean, just getting those quick outs. Not wasting too many pitches. I mean, as we saw on the first inning, when he has to kind of expend a little bit more energy,
Starting point is 00:47:06 getting rid of batters. That's when he kind of gives up maybe some easier pitches to hit and Lake Erie can attack it. But when he gets up early in the count, when he attacks the pitch clock, that's what he's his best. Yeah, he likes to go quick and he's been able to do that the last two innings. Two outs now facing the DH. So lack, first one's in there. And that's one of the first pitches we've seen from Paulo, where he gets him to swing and miss. And you can tell he's got a great rhythm going.
Starting point is 00:47:27 And he's right back at you here, up 01. And the O1 pitch is already on its way. gets another great one fouled off there by Solek and after only about 10 seconds of play, he's up O2. Great job from Pollo working through this lineup after a tough first inning really settling in here. O2 can he put a man away for his first K? He cannot, but it's down the third base line to Tenuta. Great play on the hop, fires it across the layman and he's out of the inning again. Tell you what, this kid, Jacob Pollo really settling in and cuts the inning off quickly. 3-1, Chargers down two.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Zach Kent on his way. Taking you to a quick break. You're listening to Radio for Yieldsdale, 101.7 FM. Charge your baseball. I'm Gordy. I'm Ryan. Welcome to the Astro Minute, where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds at a time.
Starting point is 00:48:15 I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're discovering Orion. The constellation Orion's bright stars and nebulae will adorn spring evening skies through April. The hunter's brightest stars are blue Rigel in his left knee and red Betelgeese in his right shoulder, aging super giants 70 and 700 times the radius of our sun respectively. Both will eventually explode as supernovae, leaving behind neutron stars are black holes. In his sword, just fuzzy patches to the unaided eye and binoculars are more bright stars and several nebula.
Starting point is 00:48:47 At the top of the sword is the open star cluster nebula in G.C. 1981, as well as the running man nebula. Highlighting the center of the sword is the magnificent Orion Nebula. It's 24 light year-wide expanse of star-forming gas and dust illuminated by thousands of bright young stars. That's your Astro Minute. Hello, and welcome back to the listener, Ready for Eelsdale, 101.7 FM Charger baseball here, bottom three, and a quick top of the third from Paulo, as we mentioned. When he's able to get in that rhythm, he's going to go with almost 20 seconds on the pitch clock, attack the hitters, don't let him get a rhythm in that box, and he does a little.
Starting point is 00:49:28 a heck of a job there to get out of another inning with no runs but also no hits. Yeah, and you know, it's got to be kind of frustrating for Petron here because, I mean, you finally got out of a tough inning where there's ducks in the pond and you get out. So you want to take a little bit of a break in that dugout kind of relaxed a little bit and what, less about 10 pitches later, you're back out on the mound. Yeah, and Paolo, as we said, threw a lot of pitches in that first inning, but has really cut down his pitch clock, taken his pitch count down from the pace it was kind of at. And that's huge for the charger bullpen.
Starting point is 00:49:57 And now Patron, after a huge getting out of a jam inning, he's got to face Zach Ken and Will Lehman, two of the best power hitters on this Charger baseball team. Lefty Kent D.H. in today, Senior, with a chance to spark a comeback here. Chargers down 3-1. Bottom three. Petron. First one, cut on again by Kent. And Ken has really been seeing the baseball good swinging at strikes, just fouling off a lot of them. I'm wondering if the Chargers here in the decade have kind of seen what Petron's doing. because it seems like they're kind of guessing almost on a better side of what pitches are coming and where to go to.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Patron, O-1 count, kicks steals, fires inside, in there for another strike. Kent doesn't like it. Kind of almost a cutter action. Fountain looked like it was outside, cut its way back onto the plate, and now he's down O2 quickly. Patron likes to take his time a little bit more than Pollo, definitely two styles. But here comes the O2 outside. Great take there from Kent. Got to be trying to fight everything off.
Starting point is 00:50:58 but if there's a ball, you have to take it even down 02. When we saw at Zach's last at bat that he was able to fight on an 02 count. Kick Steele's fires outside. A great pitch there, and Patron rings him up. Himself does the motion for the hump. His first out, Kent struggling a little bit. But now you have Will Lehman, who has been great defensively over there at first base, stretching out, making a couple plays,
Starting point is 00:51:23 had a single earlier in this game, sparking the chargers when they did score. So we'll see what Lehman's got here. He was left stranded last time, but I know he's looking to attack, and he's a guy that if you leave that hanging curveball, he will take it out of the park. Zero, zero, count one out. First one in there, ball low with the curveball. And we've seen him mix up.
Starting point is 00:51:46 It feels like he either is throwing all fastball or all off speed, and a lot of these counts obviously mixing it up a little bit, but he goes to what is working against hitters. It's worked out good, eh, as they are up 3-1. The 1-0. Outside, ball 2, lame and great take. Once again, getting ahead in the count as the sun comes out here at Linda and Glenda Field. Two O count, bottom three, chargers down two.
Starting point is 00:52:12 No man on, one out. Petrone. Low and outside and ball, and now a three O' count and a great job. Will Lehman, you know, you want to jump on him and get that huge hit for your team, but stay inpatient and a walk is just as good as a single. Yeah, exactly. And, you know, Will Laman, another young guy here, but, you know, it seems like they just play so experienced for such a young team.
Starting point is 00:52:33 team. The 3-0. Inside ball four, great take by Lehman and a four-pitch walk after the Kent strikeout and now there's a man on, one out, and Augie Hutchinson, a guy who got hit his first A.B. Another great hitter and great defensive player out there in right field, one of those senior leaders as we mentioned at his first A.B. Well, Augie Hutchinson, you know, he's had an interesting year here, you know, he doesn't have a lot of hits. He may not be up there in the, and the hits department for his team, but what he is up on is the RBI department, which means that he loves when people are on base and he loves swinging the bat there. On first is Lehman, the O-O-1-out.
Starting point is 00:53:07 Kick-Steels fires Hutchinson attacks that first-pitch fastball fouled behind the dugout of the Chargers. Chargers are not afraid to attack the count early. Even after a four-pitch walk, you kind of expect him to throw a strike there. Augie jumps on it, fouled away now, count 0-1. Off, taking his time here, 10 on the pitch clock for Patron. You know one. Inside, ripped down the line, just foul there from, Augie almost able to straighten one out and that would have been a huge double but it's foul and now he's down 02.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Gotta be playing defense here in the batter's box. Can't afford a double play or a strikeout at the charges are trying to make a comeback. The 02 man on first one out throws back trying to get layman in there safely layman not really a threat to steal but if you can get them across that'd be huge to kind of take the double play out of it. Yeah both times that uh Petronus tried to throw out the base runner there it's just kind of been unexpected you don't really expect that to happen And it was almost caught base runners off balance there. The O2 to Hutchinson on its way. Inside ball.
Starting point is 00:54:13 Definitely interesting. And you can tell the Yump is kind of favoring the outside of the strike zone. That one could have been a strike. But he's been playing it fair all game in the pitchers and the hitters trying to start and to figure it out that outside of the plate is going to be a strike inside, not so much. One two now to Hutchinson. On his way, curve ball just outside.
Starting point is 00:54:33 As we mentioned, it could have been a strike on that slide. but it wasn't and Hutchinson down O2 takes two close ones fought his way back to two-two now with Lehman on first two balls two strikes layman takes the lead here on Petron eight on the pitch clock taking his time kick steals fires Hutchinson rips one foul again great at bat here from Hutchinson even if it doesn't result in a head he is working that pitch crown of Patron which we have seen throughout this game something I've noticed from Patron too is like You know, early in the county only takes about five, six seconds off that pitch clock. I go to the next one.
Starting point is 00:55:09 But, you know, now that it's, every time it gets late in the count, you know, kind of a two, two, three, two mindset. He takes his time here. The two two, outside with the curveball, can't find it. Now Hutchinson has worked his way back to a three two count with one out. And another walk here could result in a mound visit, as we know how critical a two-run game and how this can just flip on its head with two walks. The payoff pitch, Patron, taking his time. time on its way. Outside, ball four and what an at bat from Augie Hutchinson, and he's on base for
Starting point is 00:55:43 the second time today. Takes a walk. Great patience there from the senior right fielder, and now, as we mentioned, there's the mound visit from the catcher. He's just going to calm him down. Mitchell Samagic, only a sophomore talking to the junior pitcher. A couple of veteran guys for them that know that this is an important moment. There's one outrunners on first, second and he's telling him you get a double play we're out of this take a deep breath but he will face the senior catcher john hunter do want to say for augie hutchinson love the way he plays and that you know this is really where the experience shines for a senior like that that's actually he's second on the team for base on balls and to go from o2 to a walk takes great patience and something not a lot of
Starting point is 00:56:26 hitters can do patron here the o'o count runners on first and second hutchinson and layman kicks deals fires great pitch there gets a strike and that's a great job after the mountain visit to get that outside fastball in there count moves to oh one one of the chargers have kind of talked about jumping on that first pitch we've seen a few batters in a row taking a swing at that first pitch which usually is actually in the zone for patrol 3-1 ball game chargers down to bottom three runners on first and second high fastball from patrol can't find the zone 1-1 these chargers have worked his pitch count this inning And it's resulted in two base runners on walks. And now John Hunter with a huge opportunity to get this game back tied. Waiting for the 1-1 here. Patron, taking his time. Kick steals, fires.
Starting point is 00:57:23 Fowls it off behind him. Great cut there by Hunter on that fastball. And now Petron up 1-2. And this is kind of where he takes his time. It's almost like he's careful when he gets ahead of the count, less careful at the beginning. And it hasn't really worked for him. He's had a couple walks where he's been at.
Starting point is 00:57:37 head and a lot of long A-Bs. That's kind of, I mean, he's a guy that pitches a lot for them. Definitely interesting. We'll see what we got here, the 1-2. Patrone checking second, back at the mound. Working that pitch. Timer down. Swing from Hunter, followed off again behind the catcher, and the count is 1-2 once again.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Petron really just struggling, putting away these hitters when he gets into that pitcher's count. And as you mentioned, he's not really a strikeout guy. He doesn't really have that put-away pitch. only 1K today on Kent earlier in this inning. One out, one two count. Runners on first and second up, 3-1 at the bottom of the third. Petrone with a huge opportunity. Tick steals, fires.
Starting point is 00:58:18 Hunter follows one behind him again. A little frustrated. He knows that he's still in this count, but he wants to straighten one of those out and find a gap. Yeah, especially with two guys on again. You really, you know, this is John's second situation there with runners on, and, you know, you really would not want to go 0 for 2 in this sort of clutch situations. Lehman in scoring position at second Hutchinson on first both on with walks after the Kent strikeout
Starting point is 00:58:42 the one two check second delivers the home fouled off behind again by Hunter and this is another great at baton just can't find that put-away pitch finally seeing a little bit of movement in the Lake Erie bullpen over there just getting a few guys stretching and toss him one two Hunter taking his time here he knows how important it is as we mentioned with Lehman on second, Hutchinson on first. Trone with a huge opportunity here. Pitch, great job, fouled off again by Hunter. Looked like that was the put-away pitch, got him out in front on a curveball,
Starting point is 00:59:17 but again fouled off by Hunter and a senior once again, like we mentioned with Hutchinson, that experience is starting to pay off in these deep counts. Still at 1 and 2 here, beautiful sunny day in Hillsdale, 3-1 ball game. Kick steals, fires, fouled off again by John Hunter and the Doug. is loving it from Hillsdale. He knows he's down one, too, but it's a heck of an at bat. You know, just for a guy who may not get in all that much, you know, only is a second start this season, you know, the dugout always going to get in there, kind of get
Starting point is 00:59:53 the pitcher's head a little bit and show the enthusiasm of a guy who doesn't usually get a chance like this to work the count, especially hitting in that six hole. Big opportunity here. Hunter, the one two. We'll go at it again. Swing to center field. It's a high fly ball. should be a rhythm play. Center field who calls off the second basement and it's two outs.
Starting point is 01:00:14 Great at bat there by Hunter, but doesn't result in a hit. And you know he's frustrated because he had a lot of opportunities. Finally gets a hold of one and it's just kind of a blooper to center field. But now Tyler Sauer is one of those guys that is a great hitter. Only a freshman, but he knows the opportunity he has. Got on base last time. See if he can do it again. John Hunter, it may not be a productive at bat in terms of RBIs or maybe hits or anything like that.
Starting point is 01:00:36 But a productive at bat that really get in the pitcher's head there. Petrone now O-O-Count. Runners on first and second two out here, bottom three. Patron on its way, first pitch, strike. Again, we see the Chargers. They swing at that first pitch. They want it, and a great job finding the outside half. Get Sowers to swing, 0-1 now.
Starting point is 01:00:56 Sowers playing left field for the Chargers today. Made a couple of plays out there. Got on base, as we mentioned, in the second. On its way, ball low there. Great take from Sowers. Again, these patient-ab bats from the Chargers resulting in a little bullpen action from Lake Uri, which you don't want in the third inning.
Starting point is 01:01:14 Even though it's been a great game from Patron only allowing one run, he has thrown a lot of pitches to do so. Three. Curve ball in there. Great pitch there, gets Sowers kind of frozen now. One, two, two outs. Chargers know how important this A.B. is, and they do not want to leave runners on
Starting point is 01:01:33 as they have every single inning in this ball game. The one two, Sowers. patient approach here Patron on its way fouled off again by Sowers and the charges are not going to give Petron an easy strikeout they are going to make him work for this last out of the inning
Starting point is 01:01:49 just causing visible frustration up there I mean he really just wants to put a guy away and he can't you know the only way you're going to have to put something you're going to have to get something in play for your defense to get in out because it does not seem like you're going to get a swing and miss here hopefully I didn't just jinx him Sowers here with the 1-2-2 out
Starting point is 01:02:04 runner on first and second on its way fouled off thought that was the jinx there but sowers able to get out in front and tip it foul behind the catcher and another long ab we've mentioned it all day polo quick getting a lot of rest now as he's trying to stay warm in the dugout the one two patron with a chance to get out of this inning again great poise from him all night with runners on the one two fouled off again by sowers and patron is he's throwing strikes giving him pitches the hit. Chargers can't seem to straighten out at another foul ball from Sowers. I mean as a pitcher I almost just think throw something out of the zone. Make him chase something here.
Starting point is 01:02:47 I mean, I get you on to keep attacking and kind of almost freeze him, but it hasn't been working. And the Chargers, even when it's outside the zone, have been taking it even down in these counts. So that's what makes it so tough as their great eye here early. They're swinging at strikes, just can't seem to straighten it out. The one two, Petrone inside, and it hops in there. Another ball, and that was the pitch. He dropped that curve ball. the plate but a great job from Sowers to take it moves count to two two and another great at bat here just wonder for some sort of tell here because the charges just seem to be guessing correctly whenever it's gonna be a ball whatever it's gonna
Starting point is 01:03:19 be a strike great eye from them now two two for Sowers great swing the center field got a chance to drop and it's over the head of the center field or Sowers hits one to the wall that's gonna score the first runner layman here comes Hugginson around Sowers headed into a third and he's safe a two RBI triple and the ball game is tied. I mean that is an amazing at-bat. One two count foul, foul, foul, and then you finally get a hold of one and just rip it over the center fielder's head, bounce off that wall, and a two-out triple to score two here. And now all of a sudden, one swing of the bat, it's a tie
Starting point is 01:03:57 game here at Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium. What a swing from Sowers over the head of the freshman Jones and center. That was probably hit about 350 in the air as he looked like he had beat on it looked like it was going to be out flies over his head and slides in safely with the speed into third now billy praski great defensive player has a chance to give the chargers the lead here bottom three first pitch is in there for a strike great job there from patron again he's throwing strikes he's trying to get out of this inning his arm is feeling it this has been a long inning for him with a huge chance for perowski great stop there on the curveball behind the plate from samasic any pass ball is scoring Sowers he's ready but a great job to block it moves count to 1-1 what a hit from Sowers
Starting point is 01:04:44 and now the chargers are all tied up here patron the 1-1 prowsky takes it in there for a strike well we've seen this story before a one-two count I expect at least three foul balls before he gets sitting in play should be interesting here hasn't had to put away pitch but he is attacking that pitch clock earlier trying to get out of this inning kicks deals fires Perowski to the shortstop. Should be a rhythm play. Fires it across the line. Out. Great play there by the storm to get out of the inning. But the Chargers tied up on the Sowers triple.
Starting point is 01:05:17 I'll take you to a quick break here. Listen to ready for Eelsdale at 101.1.7 FM, Charger Baseball. I'm Gordon. I'm Ryan. This is The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group. The American Civil War came to an end on April 9, 1865, in a little-known Virginia village called Appomattox. It was there that General Ulysses Grant,
Starting point is 01:05:44 commander of the Union armies, accepted the surrender of his counterpart, Confederate General Robert E. Lee, ending the bloodiest war in American history. Total casualties exceeded 600,000 deaths, over which 320,000 were Union soldiers who had given their lives to preserve the Union and abolish slavery in America.
Starting point is 01:06:07 Never before in world history had a nation gone to war with itself to free slaves within its borders. This has been the Making of America. I'm Michael Emerson, and you can visit us at jeffersonmediagroup.com. Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Radio for Heelsdale 101.1.7 FM Charger Baseball. All squared up here as we move into the top of the fourth of this seven inning affair between the Chargers and the storm. What an inning there of at-bats. And that's something that Patron's going to be thinking about for a while
Starting point is 01:06:42 because he had a chance so many times to get out of that inning with a strikeout with anything in Sowers. The last one to center field gets a triple his second hit of the day. Now the charges are all tied up, anything can happen. And I'll tell you what, a guy who's feeling it right now, Jacob Pollo really settled in. Quick innings of work the last two. See what he can do here at the top of the fourth.
Starting point is 01:07:01 Yeah, Lake Erie started off strong with a lot of hits. Well, sorry, only two hits, really, but it has to score three runs. And Palo just going to go back to attacking here. Now up number 45 Garrett Exposito. First pitch, liner down the third base line. Third base coach watches that one as it almost hits him. Paolo taking the lead now against Exposito up 01.
Starting point is 01:07:23 As we said, all square charges with five hits, one air, two hits for the storm, no airs. The 01, Pollo working early in that pitch clock, as we said, inside fastball, high, It's going to be ball one. Empire definitely calling consistency. Consistently here. Doesn't like those. Whoa. And a great swing there as we were talking into left field from Exposito makes the turn.
Starting point is 01:07:49 Chargers do a great job of getting it in from Sowers, cutting it off. Only a single, but Expozito rips one. First one was ripped down the line, able to straighten this one out to left field. And a base knock to start the inning. And this is something that Paul O'Connor struggled with when he can't get those quick outs. What will he do now? Number 26, the catcher Michael C. Team Jack.
Starting point is 01:08:10 Throws back to first checking on Exposito. It doesn't get the out there, but making sure the runners can't get into scoring position and give up this lead that the Chargers just cut. Runner goes. Hunter throws down a great ball. Did he get him? He did. What a throw from John Hunter, the senior to Jasek and a quickout and Apollo loves it.
Starting point is 01:08:29 I mean, this had to have been part of the game plan for the Lake Erie Storm. You got to steal in situations like this, especially with the team that steals so much. But wow, what a throwdown by John Hunter. by John Hunter wasn't even in question the second it left his hand he knew it was an out almost a pitch out there from Paulo on the high fastball gave Hunter a great chance now the count 01 ripped into the center field gap and that's going to find a hole out there cut off by hudgeonston can he make the play at second rips it down in there and a double they get that runner on second anyway sim jack with a rip and now with one out a runner in scoring position and now you just kind
Starting point is 01:09:03 of swap places with ex-visito yeah but honestly still a great play by john it now we look back a little bit in hindsight. Wow, it wouldn't even a more amazing play. I mean, now instead of an RBI there, now it's just a one-out double that really doesn't do much other than get a guy in scoring position,
Starting point is 01:09:18 which is still a lot, but a lot better than RBI. For sure, keeping that lead or keeping things all squared here. Paulo throws back. Pulaski isn't ready for it and it goes into the outfield. And now Simjack on third
Starting point is 01:09:33 with one out and a deep fly ball scores him. Didn't seem like Parraski was ready to have that three. thrown back to him there. Yeah, Apollo kind of talking with the Praski. Great defensive player and doesn't look like they were trying to pick them off. Would have been interesting if they went to steal third there with a runner on second with only one out. Apollo thought he could get a quick out.
Starting point is 01:09:51 He loves getting those quick outs. Now he's got to face Jones with a runner on third. Infield in for the Chargers, alerting for a bun. First pitch in there, outside. One ball, no strikes, one out. Great game here between the storm. As we said, they split earlier. See what Paulo's got if he can get out of the jam.
Starting point is 01:10:10 Kik Steele's fires a high fly ball, as we mentioned. Hutchinson ranging in. He's going to have to throw this home. Are they going to test it? They're not a great arm from Augie Hutchinson, cutting it off, and now there's two outs, and that runner is stranded on third as of now. Just not far enough, really.
Starting point is 01:10:26 And you're not going to test a senior arm like that from Augie Hutchison. I mean, he can really blister one back there and catch a sleeping on the base pads. Great job there from Hutchinson. Ranged in, gets a great little crow hop. doesn't allow the runner to score and now up to bat who is this here hard to see all tied at three runner on third pallo delivers ripped down the the fair base line and it's fair it's close to the line and it's an rbi i double for the storm and they regain the lead that the chargers have fought back to tie up set yakobucci with his first hit of the season
Starting point is 01:11:01 and it comes huge with an rbi double great job there now in the shortstop zimba Cadiz, Argentina product with a chance here to extend that lead and a little bit of struggles here from Paulo. A couple great outs thought he might get out of it, but that first pitch jumps on it. As we mentioned, Yako Bucci, tough name. Able to find a double down the line was ripped. Now Cadiz up. Chance to add up. First one, outside fastball is good as we've seen all night.
Starting point is 01:11:35 Humps calling it. Finds a great pitch there, Apollo Up 01. Lake Geary retaking the lead here with a chance to add on to it. The pitch outside, Hunter can't find it. It's going to get by him and move the runner to third. It doesn't really change a lot for the chargers as a lot of speed over there with Yababuchi. He can kind of score it on a single no matter what, but you don't like to see it if you're Powell on the wild pitch there moves count to 1-1.
Starting point is 01:12:02 Kind of frustrating for these chargers finally swing. Weir up the game here and immediately just next inning, give up that lead again. See Apollo can work something here. Runner on third for the second time this inning, the 1-1. Inside low, great job from Hunter to block it because now a pass ball does score him. Great job from the senior to block that one as he does have a punch out this inning. Two balls, one strike, four, three ball game, five hits for both teams and a little bit of offensive explosion here in this inning from Lake Erie, scoring one to regain the lead. Top of four, Palo on its way outside ball.
Starting point is 01:12:40 Definitely interesting as he's called that a strike. Doesn't like it there. Moves to count to 3-1 and a walk here could do a mound visit for Paulo. The 3-1. Big pitch on its way. Outside in there. Put his pat down, Ziba Cadiz. Thought it was a walk.
Starting point is 01:13:01 Isn't. I thought it was outside, but we've seen it all day to where that is going to be a strike. He's been consistent. Now the payoff pitch, two outs. In there, down the third base line, foul. Third base coach misses there, the bare hand. They got a couple guys from different countries. And this guy, Cadiz from Argentina,
Starting point is 01:13:22 not normally a baseball country in my mind, but made his way up to Lake Erie, Ohio. With a chance here, fouled off to the right. Does he have room layman looking? Can't get there. Going to find its way over the charger dugout. payoff pitch here on its way three two again and on third two outs four three ball game five hits for each you as we mentioned and one run this inning gives lake eerie that lead they've had for most of it back
Starting point is 01:13:48 cadiz full count big opportunity here for their nine hole hitter polo the payoff pitch on its way outside followed off again by cadiz got to protect that outside half due to the fact that they've been calling it a strike so great job there from cadiz to stay patient but it has been A great at-bat from him working into 3-2. Big pitch again. Paulo, just trying to get out of this inning, only allowing one run. Paulo on its way, fouled off again from Cadiz. And a great at-bat with a couple foul balls in a row now.
Starting point is 01:14:26 Paulo, not really a strikeout pitcher for the Chargers, trying to get one here. Interesting note here. Two Cadiz's on the team could be brothers from Buenos Aires. Look at that. Inside, fastball, ring them up. Cadiz hates it, but Paulo loves it. But Pollo loves it, letting him know about it.
Starting point is 01:14:43 And the strikeout to end the inning. And the damage control was on. Great job from Pollo. 4-3 ball game. We're going to take you to a quick break. Listen to radio for Eelsdale, 101.7 FM in charge of baseball. I'm Gordon. I'm right.
Starting point is 01:14:55 Break through the storm. Get one, but leave one. Halfway through four. You wanted that. You're going to be right. With Janice Dean. A Utah man who rescued his brother in an avalanche makes today's list.
Starting point is 01:15:09 Hunter and Braden Hansen were. skiing on a snowy hillside when suddenly an incredible mountain of snow started falling and buried Hunter. He says it took seconds for the snow to fall on top of him like concrete. He couldn't breathe or move. Braden couldn't believe what was happening before his own eyes, but he reacted quickly activating a special avalanche beacon, which was able to pinpoint his brother's location underneath all of the snow. Miraculously, Hunter's glove poked out of the snow and he was able to wave in hopes of alerting someone. By the time his brother got to him, Hunter was under two feet of snow. Braden was then able to clear the snow around his brother's head, take off his helmet,
Starting point is 01:15:49 so that he could breathe. Hunter says he will never forget what his brother did and told him he was on his last breath before being rescued. He feels very blessed to be alive. Janustine, Fox News. Hello and welcome back. You are listening to Radio for Heelsdale 101.1.7 FM Charger baseball. Petron getting the ball here again after a long inning where he gave up to the bottom of the third. Bottom four now up for the chargers is going to be Jasek, Swenson, and then Tanuta. Line up going to turn over here after Jasek, who had a great at-bat his first time, ripped a single, and scored. So definitely a close game, as we mentioned, a couple of pitchers that are kind of getting to the bulk of their pitch count. and both bullpens do have guys up and throwing.
Starting point is 01:16:41 We'll see kind of what the cutoff is for Patron. Does he get that opportunity to get through this inning no matter what? Or does a base knock him out of this game? No man on, no men out. D.O.O. J.S.ick takes a ball outside. That's one of the first times we've seen them take that first pitch. It's also one of the first times that he's not throwing a first pitch strike in there in the zone.
Starting point is 01:17:03 Great patience there from Jasek. Playing shortstop today. for the Chargers. The 1-0. Patron comes home. Jason kind of crowned the plate. It looked like it might have been a ball, but it does find the middle of the zone
Starting point is 01:17:16 as Chargers haven't crowding that plate after Hutchinson was hit. So something to watch with Petron. The 1-1. Taking his time here. Kicks, steals, fires the 1-1. Jac turns on it. Does the first basement have room
Starting point is 01:17:31 over there by the Charger dugout? Can't see it. Off the rail. What a play. there from Creece. Tipped it off the dugout and caught it and the first out of the inning. JASIC doesn't like it. We couldn't really see it from our angle, but it does look like he kind of juggled it off the cage, kind of by the charger dugout, and a great play there from
Starting point is 01:17:52 Creece to get the first out of the inning. You know Petron is loving that smiling on the mound with a quick out and now guards Swenson up. The freshman center fielder with an opportunity to throw out. Like we said, bulk of the lineup is due up for the Chargers, so A base knock here could really get some momentum. A little outfield shift to the right for Swenson. First pitch, swung on by Swenson. A high fly ball in the infield. They got to talk about a third baseman ranging in.
Starting point is 01:18:18 Makes the play. And Yabacucci with the second out. And this is what Petrone wanted. He's got a high pitch count. He gets two flyouts, and he is loving it now. Two outs. And Rocco Tanuta, up for the Jargers. Rocco, one of the most patient batters out here.
Starting point is 01:18:34 And some you need after two quick outs like that. Let's work the count a little bit. No need to swing the bat here too crazy, especially if something's not in the zone, something you don't like. Yeah, a couple innings left for the Chargers to get that one run back. We will probably see that bullpen at Apollo only allowing one last inning. So Tanuta with a chance here, two outs, no men on. Four-three ball game, Lake Erie up one. The delivery on its way, Tanuta on that outside half is again a strike.
Starting point is 01:18:59 I said the Yom's going to call it. It's going to be a strike on that outer half, has been all night, and it's in there for strike one. The O-1 for Tanuta. Patron delivers inside and a strike on the inside. Tanuta doesn't like it kind of talking to the ump. He said you just called one on the outside. Now you're calling on the inside, but a very similar pitch to what we saw with Pollo
Starting point is 01:19:22 and a chance to get out of this inning with very limited pitches now the O2. Patron kicks deals, fires. Tanuta swings one to the right field. High fly ball. Second baseman's got it. He'll range under it, gets the out in a quick inning. And Patron is loving it.
Starting point is 01:19:38 fired up the dugout there. One, two, three, inning for Patron, four three. So you can do a quick break here. You're listening to Radio for Eelsdale, 101.7 FM, Charger baseball. I'm Gordy. I'm right. I'm Michelle Bellino, Kenny Chesney,
Starting point is 01:19:52 June Carter Cash, and producer Tony Brown were announced as the newest members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. The three will be inducted in a ceremony in the fall. Chesney will be inducted in the modern performer category as he made his first record in 1994 and had his first number one hit in 1997. The late June Carter Cash goes in the Veterans Era Division. Her children, Carleen Carter and John Carter Cash, attended the announcement and producer,
Starting point is 01:20:21 musician Brown, is this year's inductee into the rotating non-performer category. Luke Bryan has revealed the special guest for his upcoming 2025 Farm Tour, with all three dates focused in California for the first time in history. Tyler Hubbard, Rhett Atkins, Dallas, Davidson, and DJ Rock are set to appear with Chase Beckham performing on May 15th and 16th only. That's Fox Country on Fox News. Hello and welcome back to your listener Radio for Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Charger baseball, top of the order now for the storm, and Paolo gets the ball once again after allowing one run. Last inning on three heads. Definitely interesting and it doesn't get easier for him as he does have to face Travis Yankovich.
Starting point is 01:21:06 Second baseman. You just got the last out of that inning of quick work from Patron. C.F. Pollo can respond. He's a guy that if he gets that first out, he will get some momentum and he will get a quick inning. It could be something for the Chargers as they are down one here. I think we're top of five. Scoreboard a little. Board board bugged a little bit there.
Starting point is 01:21:26 A little bugged, but it is top of five here in the seven inning affair. One of two games on a Sunday afternoon in Hillsdale. First pitch of the inning from Pollo. on its way outside Yankevich patient there. Travis Yankevich, a lefty at that huge hit of the first inning. Paulo on the inner half, great pitch. They're in there for a strike, 1-1 count now. And that outer half for righties is that inner-half for lefties,
Starting point is 01:21:54 and that's going to be a strike all day, as we've seen and mentioned. The 1-1. Paulo inner-half there, low. Two balls, one strike. And, I mean, they don't even need to turn the pitch clock on for Paulo. he's going to go and he's going to go quick short wind up as well he's going to kick the little fire here the 2-1 inside yankevich fouls it off down the third base line moving the count of two-two this would be a huge out to start the inning one of their best hitters as we mentioned at the top of the hour the two-two from pala
Starting point is 01:22:27 yankovitch fouls it or sorry rips it up the middle yankovitch out great play there from jacic looked like it might have been kind of a spinner didn't know what it was going to be but it was out to the shortstop. But a great play from Jasek in the first out of the inning is a huge one for Paulo against their best hitter. And with a speedy team like Lake Erie, those infield hits are not like those routine plays you get because you saw him. He was absolutely sprinting down that first base line. Just barely beats it out. And that's going to be the first out. Mike Gaisi now up for Lake Erie, their two-hole hitter. First pitch on its way in there for a strike. Great pitch there from Paulo. Working quick. As we said, he gets that first out and he goes
Starting point is 01:23:09 The O-1 on its way to Geissy. Inside and for strike two, and here comes Paolo, finding that rhythm up O2 now. See if he can find his second K of the night. Kick steals, fires the O2. Fowled. Down the first base line there. Great pitch.
Starting point is 01:23:29 Again, Paulo trying to strike him out. Can't get it, but still up O2 with the man of the hour. Jack's increased on deck. Made a great play last inning, a triple in the first. The O2. inside fastballs high ball one almost got him to offer there geese he wanted it great job to not take it even with two strikes the one two on its way oh paula wanted it on the outside great job of hunter to frame it but he doesn't get it
Starting point is 01:23:59 as that is that side of the plate that has not been called many strikes now moves to count the two two one out four three lake erie up here top of five no runners on 2 to Geisy. Outside again now, 3-2. Paulo. Great job from Geisy to work this count back to full. Not many strikeouts in this game so far. Let's see if Powell can change that here.
Starting point is 01:24:25 Payoff pitch. Inside, and there it is, a strikeout tipped. Great job from Hunter to corall it, and two outs for Paulo. Quick work in the middle of the lineup. And now up Jackson Creased, a guy who can really swing the twig as their first baseman. Kind of a power hitter had that triple as. we mentioned. See what he's got here against Paulo. Two outs. No one on. Four three ball game. Top five. Palo offers. Great swing from Creece. It's going to find the middle. Is it going to get down?
Starting point is 01:24:54 No. Swenson Cam Sundarid and three outs. Palos fired up with another quick inning of work. We'll take you to a quick break before bottom five. You're listening to Ready for Heelsdale. 101. 101.1.7 FM. Charger baseball. Gordy. I'm Deborah Valentine. Debra Valentine, Fox News. Hello and welcome back to Action here. Listen to Radio for Yieldsdale 101.1.7 FM Charger Baseball. patrol getting the ball again here bottom five after a very quick inning of work is another opportunity to try to close out the end of this game up four three but you just have to face Kent layman and then Hutchinson who are Kent with two strikeouts he's struggling a little bit today
Starting point is 01:26:29 but a guy like Lehman who's been on base twice a guy like Hutchinson who's been on base twice this is the opportunity for the chargers to strike with that meat of the lineup up and a and a Patron who is kind of towards the end of that pitch count that they might have allow him. Bullpen, as we said, is loose. Looks to be a lefty up for Lake Erie. Charger bullpen kind of quiet, calm down a little bit after Apollo has. He's had a couple long innings, but he's had a lot of quick innings with under 10 pitches. So definitely should be interesting finish to this one here at Hillsdale. As we mentioned, third game of four. They split the two games yesterday. Chargers trying to get off on the right foot today.
Starting point is 01:27:07 No man on, no man out. Bottom five. First pitch to Ken is way inside. Almost clipped him, doesn't great job there to take it Zach Kent aggressive and that's why he actually leads the team in strikeouts but he also leads the team in batting average so take it back yeah definitely a weird combo you normally don't see that so great hitter
Starting point is 01:27:25 first one on its way high fly ball the left field should be camped under here for Lake Erie and another out for Patron and a quick one as we saw the Chargers were at their best when they were working his pitch count he's attacking him Chargers can't seem to straighten one out find a gap
Starting point is 01:27:42 and the first out of the inning is a high fly ball to geisy. Will Lehman up now, as we mentioned, he's been on base twice with a single and a walk. And then Hutchinson, another guy with a hit by pitch and a walk. So a couple guys that have been on base twice, facing him for the third time. We'll see what Patron has against Lehman, the freshman. One out, no man on the O.O. Great swing from Lehman. It's deep to left field.
Starting point is 01:28:07 Going to be a tough play for Jones. It's off the wall and a double for Will Lehman out of play. What a swing had a chance to get out at the 370 mark and it hits off the ground and goes out in a Ground Rule double for Lehman. Clay He almost a little lucky that thing bounced over because I'm pretty sure Lehman was not stopping. He wanted three But how the Chargers in a critical situation here to at least tie this ball game back up Augie Hutchinson the guy to do it loves these situations big on the RBIs for this team Let's see how he plays this at bat whether he's just going to try and work the count and give
Starting point is 01:28:42 Patron in those situations that he does not feel comfortable in and give up a hit here. Big opportunity for Hutchinson here. The O.O. Laman on second. One out. Ball outside. No. Wow. I'm sorry. That is a strike on that outer corner for right. He's definitely frustrated. Hutchinson, a guy with a great eye. Try to take his first pitch there. Doesn't get it a one count now. One out. Lehmanon's second four three ball game. Great hit there. Fowled it off. No, sorry, to the pitcher and another out.
Starting point is 01:29:14 I thought he fouled it back. Just kind of dribbled one to the pitcher. Now there's two out layman on third, and another opportunity for John Hunter to make his mark on this game. This is where you want to be, I guess, when you're a guy who gets a rare chance to be in a game here. He's going to head back to the dugout, and are they going to pinch him here?
Starting point is 01:29:33 They might be making a switch as Hunter. They are. It appears it's going to be Will Millard, that other catcher. Guy definitely interesting, Hunter with two opportunities, two outs when there was a runner in scoring position. Coach Tom Vassell is going to make the tough choice to bring in Will Mallard. He knows how critical this is, bottom five with a chance. A single scores lame and easily ties this ball game up and recess things for the Chargers. Will Mollard, as we have mentioned in the last couple games that we have called is a great defensive catcher,
Starting point is 01:30:03 but he can also rip it. Only a sophomore, but one of their leaders getting an opportunity here. He's a little cold, hasn't seen Petrono. but he's been watching patiently from the dugout gets his opportunity here. Base knocks scores him. Let's see. We got the O-O, run around a third, two outs. Will Millard weighs in.
Starting point is 01:30:23 First pitch. Going to take it outside, strike once again. I mean, you've got to figure he's taken all the way there. You haven't seen anything from Petron. You have to be patient, but you do have to strike here with a chance to tie this ball game up after the layman ground rule double. Ball outside there. Great patience.
Starting point is 01:30:43 1-1 count now. Willard here, about a 500 slugging percentage. He's definitely get the ball in play here. 100% with two outs. Got to find some green grass. 1-1 on its way from Patron, trying to get out of this inning. It's a curve ball. Into the gap and off the mid of the second baseman, Yankovic.
Starting point is 01:31:01 Petron is mad about it and a base knock RBI single for Millard. Wow. What way to come in? You haven't seen a pitch all day. Sitting in the dugout thinking you're going to get a little bit of break. Coach calls your number, you come up, you knock one right over the second basement's mitt. And that's going to be frustrating because that was right and a little shift he has there because he plays deep in the hole. Yeah, Yankevich, a great player, one of their best hitters.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Kind of a tough one was fading away from him, couldn't react to it. And now you've got to face Tyler Sowers who had that triple earlier in this one. 4-4 ball game, two outs. Millard on first. First pitch outside and it's past the catcher. And now Mallard's in scoring position and here come the Chargers. Oh, Millard, providing a little bit of a spark that this team needed. Now that the game's tied up, I love seeing Sowers up there.
Starting point is 01:31:47 I mean, that is just a kid you want up there in these clutch situations. Let's take the lead here, kid, huh? Yeah, ripped one about 350 to dead center last time over the center fielder's head. Outfield is way back, so a single will easily scored Mallard, not the fastest player, but any sort of contact, he's running. The 1-0. Sowers rips one foul behind the catcher, really wanted that one. Definitely interesting.
Starting point is 01:32:09 They do have the outfield back. which is not something you see with two outs and a run around second because if you get a good jump on a ground ball the outfield you might be able to gun him at home they're protecting against a bigger play for sours who smashed one earlier the one-one frustrated with that last one that got by the mid of yankovitch the one one sours waits for the curveball yankovitch with a chance to redeem himself at second throws it to first and he's out great play there to rebound Petrone gets out of it, only allowing one. But the Chargers all of a sudden have tied things up as we head to the top of six. Should be an exciting finish.
Starting point is 01:32:43 Take you to a quick break. You're listening to Ready for Eelsdale. 101.1.1.7 FM, Charger baseball. I'm Gordon. I'm right. Telling the stories of those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor. Here's Jinnah Suhita. On the night of October 2nd, 1952 in Korea,
Starting point is 01:32:59 private first class Jack Kelso was defending a vital outpost against a vastly superior enemy force when the commanding officers became casualties. When an enemy grenade landed in a bunker holding four Marines besides himself, he unhesitatingly picked it up, rushed out into the open, and hurled it back at the enemy. The grenade exploded as it left his hand,
Starting point is 01:33:19 but Private Kelso refused to move to safety and instead returned enemy fire, allowing other Marines pinned down in a nearby bunker to escape. Kelso was mortally wounded while providing cover for his comrades. He gallantly gave his life for his country And for his valued fighting spirit, aggressive determination, and self-sacrificing efforts for the sake of others, private first class Jack Kelso was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor on Radio Free Hillsale 101.7 FM.
Starting point is 01:33:47 Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM Charger Baseball as the sun starts to shine on a fantastic game here. 4-4-all-all-square, top of six. Jacob Powell is going to get the ball. and something to watch. Definitely interesting. You don't normally see a pitch hit for a catcher, but Will Milar, a great defensive guy, and a guy that Pollo had a little bit of rhythm with last time they played together. We'll see great defensive player, as we mentioned.
Starting point is 01:34:15 We'll see coming in kind of cold hasn't caught for Pollo all night, but it doesn't seem to bother him as we saw that huge hit, RBI single. I mean, I absolutely love Milar behind the plate here. I mean, he is really just a special player. First pitch on the way outside, ball one. facing off here against the designated hitter Graham Solock. First pitch, high, fly ball to left field. Sowers ranges under it, has a tough time leading it and it falls.
Starting point is 01:34:48 The ball was sky high. Sowers couldn't seem to find it in the wind, playing a little bit of a factor here, and it falls for a double, I guess, but kind of a bloop one Sowers playing so far back, worried about a big knock there, and Graham Solock, the DH, gets on pace, and Paolo's got to be frustrated as he kind of got some weak contact,
Starting point is 01:35:08 but it results in two bags. It must have been a gust or wind or something like that. Thought he was under it, and then I don't know where he started scrambling at the last second right before it hits the ground. Couldn't get there. And, you know, this is where Paulo struggles a little bit, though. I mean, when he usually gets that first out, boom, you know it's going to be a one, two, three inning, something like that.
Starting point is 01:35:22 But when that first batter gets on and he has to start going a little bit in the stretch here, it's a little bit iffy. I mean, we've seen some innings where you can get out of it, but we've seen others where, you know, they can rack up some runs. So, you know, for Paulo, you got to settle in here. Play like he's not even there. Exposito up now.
Starting point is 01:35:38 First pitch in there for a swinging strike. Runner on second, no outs. Four, four ball game here. Top of six. Only seven innings, as we said, in this double header. This game is getting interesting. Kick steals, fires the O-1. A rip back to Sowers, a blooper again.
Starting point is 01:35:55 Shortstop. J-SAC makes a great play. He said, I'll take it this time in the first out of the inning. and that's huge for Paulo. You just allowed kind of a fluky bloop, but Jasek able to help you out on this next one. It's almost another one, though. I mean, that really could have found some grass.
Starting point is 01:36:09 Great job there by the shortstop to range back. I mean, a full sprint, it seemed like, and then an over-the-shoulder catch, absolutely beautiful. Now he's got Mitchell's Simmagic, the catcher. One out, run around second. The O-O, on the outer half in there for a strike. Great job from Millard to frame it. He knows that strike zone.
Starting point is 01:36:27 He's been watching it from the dugout. tells Paulo to attack it he does the 0-1 count and Paulo's looking to go to work curve ball not in there thought it was a great pitch there came back in the zone didn't just another ball that could have been called a strike now one-one one out runner on second in a tie ball game Paulo delivers ripped down the third base line foul great jump there from tenuda he would have been all over that one ripped it down could have been two outs but instead of foul moves the count to one and two Paulo here trying to get out of a jam after that Double on the fluky bloop throws back.
Starting point is 01:37:02 Great job there. Almost got him. That time him and Prowowski on the same page on the pickoff attempt, but no dice. Solek trying to be aggressive because he knows that he can score. Outfield kind of in its same position. Omp needs the pitch clock reset here. And he knows that that's not a problem for Powell. This guy's going to attack it early, especially from the stretch,
Starting point is 01:37:24 where he doesn't really have to do his wind up. The one two here, one out runner on second four four ball game. Pollo delivers. Inside, could have been called strike three, isn't, and now it's 2-2. A great pitch again from Paulo, really throwing some nice ones in this ad bat here. See what you can find against some Ajax. 2-2. Paulo gets him with another strikeout, and that's going to fire up the dugout.
Starting point is 01:37:48 Great pitch in there from Paulo now, and he's got two outs. And trying to strand that first runner on second, and it's going to be the freshman Alex Jones with an opportunity for Lake Erie. Well, you know what? You won't need the young player's help. when you get a guy swinging and missing like that. We'll say the way the bumps standing behind the catcher a little left of the offset. He seems to be over-compensating on the right side,
Starting point is 01:38:07 expanding the zone and doing the opposite in the inside. First pitch with two outs. Great catch there from Mlard. You do not want that runner to get to third because there is that opportunity with a pass ball to score him. Reach out from Lard. Count one-oh now for Pollo. Working deep into this game.
Starting point is 01:38:21 Six inning throws back again. Parroski tries to tag him. It's a great throwback. Parowski ready for it. Definitely interesting that he's taking such an aggressive lead, maybe trying to get another air as we saw one earlier where Peroski and Apollo weren't on the same page they are this time now. Count 1-0. Two outs, running on second 4-4 ball game here, top six.
Starting point is 01:38:41 Apollo kicks steals, fires another great one. Didn't look like Jones wanted a swing, but it tips off his bat. What a bit a strike anyway. Now moves the count to 1-1. Up and throwing in the bullpen is Andrew George, a senior from Ohio, Northview High School. 1-1, 2 outs. kicks deals, Paulo outside, ball too. And you know, a walk isn't obviously the best thing here, but a hit is even worse.
Starting point is 01:39:08 Yeah, I mean, you have the open base, so let's play this relaxed, you know. With Seth Yibakuchi, who did have a huge hit on deck. Ball outside, 3-1 now for Paulo. And it's interesting to see, you think if he walks him here, they might bring in another pitcher to kind of close them out. It's what relief pitchers do. Definitely give me something to watch. We'll see what happens here, though, with the 3-1 runner-on. second two down.
Starting point is 01:39:31 Apollo looks back, delivers to home inside and it hit him. At least getting his money's worth on the walk, letting the hitter know that he's not afraid to. But as we mentioned, the last time we called this game from Paulo, he does hit guys every once in a while, probably leads the team on it, as we mentioned. But I think they're going to call for the bullpen here in a huge moment for Andrew George to kind of close out this inning and keep. things tied headed to bottom six. Chargers have fought back in this game all day long.
Starting point is 01:40:06 This is a pretty solid outing from Paulo. As we said, he really struggled at the beginning of the year, but has settled in his last two starts, four hits on six, or sorry, four runs on six hits. And not his best performance, obviously, but had a couple jams, really had some great, quick innings. And to give six and two thirds, or five and two thirds innings in a series where you're playing four games against the same team, That's awesome if you're the Chargers. And now you're tied and a huge opportunity from the senior Andrew George to shut the door. Runners on first and second is he'll take a couple with Millard. Two guys coming into the game pretty much at the same time.
Starting point is 01:40:42 And I don't hate the situation there and right there. Yeah, you gave up the walk right there, hit by pitch. But when you have a guy like set the Akibuchi up, you know, yes, he got his first hit of the season earlier. But, you know, it's a guy that you know you can attack. And it kind of gives us a reliever, kind of something to walk into, give him some confidence, especially with someone like an inexperienced hitter here. And if you can get out of this inning, that's huge momentum because he'll likely pitch that seventh, which could have huge implications in this four-game series.
Starting point is 01:41:08 So definitely a big opportunity for Andrew George is one of those other senior leaders coming out of the bullpen. He's got a great opportunity with runners on first and second, and Yacabuchi on his way. Taking some pitches here, warming up with Millard. As we mentioned, came in in the bottom of the fifth and had that huge RBI single. It wasn't granted an air, which I think is fair, because that ball was ripped. Just a really tough play for Yankevich, one of their best players, but it's tough when that ball was curving towards him. Played so far back, couldn't really get a good read on it. Slightly over his head, and it's an RBI single in that last inning to tie things up.
Starting point is 01:41:50 Andrew George, as we mentioned, is a senior from Sylvania, Ohio, Northview High School. Just take his time here, and we're about to settle in for a huge action. at that. Seth Yacabooji, like we said, had a big hit earlier today. Yacabuchi with an opportunity. Andrew George here rocking a six and a half ERA. He has a reliever this year. One in one on his win loss.
Starting point is 01:42:22 Seen nine times this season, so he's a guy they like to go to. First pitch, George, way outside. And that's what you can't have on your first pitch. A wild pitch gets two runners in scoring position instead of one. In this situation, it's just kind of flipped on its head. You don't have force outs at every base but home. You have to get this hitter out. And a base hit scores two, which is, I mean, it's ginormous.
Starting point is 01:42:47 I mean, can't really downsize it any. But now the 1-0, George has to settle back in. Try to find out here against the Yabacucci. Kicksteels, fires ripped up the middle, right by the glove of a couple fielders. And that's going to score two. Ripping at home, cut off by Lehman and a two runs. single from Yababuchi. Yabacucci.
Starting point is 01:43:11 What a play there. An absolute rip. Yacabuchi, sorry. What a rip there. And now George has to find an out against Ziba Kiddis. Lake Erie taking that 6-4 lead and things have flipped on its head after the Chargers had a little momentum for RBI night for Yakobucci. George, kick steals, fires.
Starting point is 01:43:38 Throwback down the first. after this ball. Great job there for Mallard, trying to get a quick out for his pitcher. Doesn't catch him there, but... Oh, it was a strike, sorry. It looked like it was one now, 0-1 for George. Against Cadiz, kicksteels, fires,
Starting point is 01:43:55 one low, ball one there. I was going to say earlier, Andrew George here as the lowest batting average against him. The Hillsdale relief pitchers, only a 184. He's definitely frustrated because he had a chance to make a play on that one up the middle.
Starting point is 01:44:10 Couldn't. Next pitch is in there for a strike. One, two now with a chance. Obviously, it was a tough situation with the pass ball there, though, and then the single up the middle that scored two. So George has here with the one two. On its way, runner goes. Millard rips one down there, kind of a ball outside that didn't give Milaura an
Starting point is 01:44:30 opportunity through that from his knees and still kind of had a chance against the speedy Yakubucci. What a game for Yakubucci, by the way. 4 RBI's. This is only his fifth game he's played in. Two solid hits. I mean, wow, he's doing everything. Gives them the lead late here, top of six. Now another runner-scoring position, the 2-2.
Starting point is 01:44:50 On its way, he ripped to Lehman. He controls it. He'll be patient, flips it to George, and they're out of the inning. Able to control the damage a little bit there. But two runs on the single from Yabacucci, and he's fired up in the dugout. 6-4 ball game, headed to bottom of a 6. Take you to a quick break. You're ready for Yillsdale.
Starting point is 01:45:07 101.7 FM Charger baseball. I'm Gordon. I'm right. I think before were the Chargers coming to your point. Oh, my God. I saw it. That really sucks. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time. I'm Lauren Smith, and if you put a descriptor at the beginning of your sentence, it must match the subject of that sentence. Let me explain. Here's a sample. After turning down the volume, the music sounded better. That phrase at the beginning, after turning down the volume, is technically an adjective, meaning,
Starting point is 01:45:39 that it describes a noun, the one immediately following, the music. So, after turning down the volume, the music sounded better, means that the music turned the volume down. Adjective phrases use like this always modify the subject of the sentence, so make sure the subject matches. You could reword the sentence in question by saying, after I turned down the volume, the music sounded better, replacing that adjective with a clause. Or you could say, after turning down the volume, I thought the music sounded better.
Starting point is 01:46:09 That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminit.com for more tips and tricks. Hello and welcome back to your listener ready for heels day, 101.1.7 FM charger baseball. Billy Peroski up now for the chargers and Paltron is getting the ball here. Bottom six, only a couple of innings to play in a seven inning ball game up six to four. That insurance allows them to kind of keep that bullpen at bay. If things start to go awry for Petron, they're obviously to take them out. but again a guy who he did not think would go this deep into the game only allowing four runs has a huge opportunity for a quick inning he's got billy praski the second baseman
Starting point is 01:46:49 first one is fouled off behind him attacking early at the eight nine and then the one hitter this could be a big opportunity the charges they get rolling that lineups going to turn over and a huge opportunity praski's got the honors here to start the inning the o one outside ball one the praski a great defensive player as well we have mentioned every time he's up he's made a couple great plays got an opportunity he's had the home run here last weekend the one one no runners on no man out looping curveball outside ball that one looked like one that could have been a strike in that strike zone we've seen but instead moves to count to two one see the difference in how patron pitches when he has the lead
Starting point is 01:47:33 two one parosky kind of a blooper to center should be an easy play center fielder calls him off Jones makes the play and one out now Aaron Jasek up now for the Chargers the shortstop. A little trone here as I was saying before that out. Pitch is a little different when he has the lead has kind of let it to where those are when Chargers are getting their runs is when he thinks he has that lead you know it's late in the game you know maybe the Chargers can take advantage of him trying to just get through be aggressive. Jasek now. The O.O count one out. No man on for Aaron Jasek. Curve ball on that outer half in there for a strike. Caltron.
Starting point is 01:48:15 Not sure what his pitch count is, but it's got to be high. He's had a lot of big innings. Working through it, though, working quickly, trying to get out of this sixth inning and leave it to a closer for the seventh. Looping curveball, pretty much in the same spot, but it's outside for the ball now, 1-1. Jasek, a guy who had a great at that. Last time he was up, ripped one.
Starting point is 01:48:35 see what he can do now. Sophomore shortstop for the Chargers. The 1-1-1-1-out. Patron gets him with the high cheese, swinging. 1-2 now. I like that fastball from Petron. He's really been throwing that well today. Yeah, and it hasn't really lost much velocity
Starting point is 01:48:53 even late into his pitch count. 1-2. Chargers looking for a base runner here with 1-out. Hanging curveball. Got him tied up in another K. And Paul Trone is fired up about it now. two outs and the lineup flips over. Guard Swenson, the freshman centerfielder. This game has been one where each team has had big endings. It's been back and forth, six, four after the huge Yakubucci single two-run RBI. Guard Swenson with a huge opportunity
Starting point is 01:49:25 to try to get those bats rolling with Rocco Tanuta on deck. Trone trying to get through six full endings of work here, bottom six to four. First one. in their low ball one yeah patron really playing aggressive now let's see if he keeps charging up that fastball yeah he's it's looked nice and then pulled the string on jacic with the k
Starting point is 01:49:47 last one the one oh there's that fastball high laid off there by Swenson moves the count to two oh multiple guys moving around in that bullpen for lake eerie it's kind of been up and down up and down they feel like Petron's going to be done he's not a huge opportunity to get through another inning of work
Starting point is 01:50:02 two out snowman on to Swenson. High fastball, ball, and a walk here could end his day. I think he knows it. This could be huge with Rocco Tanuta. Chargers get those bats rolling a little two-out rally. We'll see what we got here from Guard Swenson with the 3-0 count. Petrone.
Starting point is 01:50:25 Taking his time here. Kick steals, fires. Ball outside and a great four-pitch walk for Swenson. Yep, coach has seen enough. A great outing for Petron. Nothing to hang your hat on. You were up, you were down, but you ended up only giving up four run. Pollo seven hits and that's going to be his outing again we said he's a guy who pitches a lot for
Starting point is 01:50:44 them and he threw a lot of pitches today did his best but you got to bring somebody in here especially with two outs tenuda's not seen anybody but patron all day but he is going to call on a lefty which is an advantageous matchup for tanuta who is a righty over there at third base rock out to do it too as we said patient loves when runners are on you know this is a young hid who can really attack that ball, but he's going to get on base around 45% of the time. So in this situation, you know, move up the runner, get him into scoring position. You got to kind of chip away. You got two more innings of work here to do that until this game's over.
Starting point is 01:51:22 Definitely not desperation time yet, not a lead that's insurmountable. And if they need it, they will have the bottom of the seventh to try to find some offense. And if there isn't out here, you do have Zach Kent, you have Will Lehman, you have Augie Hodgson, who are all great hitters, great players that will be, you. do up and something that is interesting note if tenuda does get on here Zach Kent who has struggled against paltron gets to see another pitcher he's not a guy who gets out much so definitely will be potentially good for him even though it is going to be lefty lefty when he does face him it could be something different that he likes a little bit more
Starting point is 01:51:55 and interesting to see hard to see what number appears to be number 34 hunter bays the six three red shirt freshman from avon lake ohio they got a couple guys from there staying in state or sorry heartfield hartville ohio lake high school redshirt freshman with a big stage does have two outs only one runner on but things could get out of hand quickly under bay's here rocking a 6.0 er a for his time in there was pretty good eight appearances thus far and one save doesn't seem to give up much in terms of the home run department but what he does give up is a lot of singles And he's rocking one of the higher, oh, lower batting average is actually a 180 batting average to get a go.
Starting point is 01:52:44 So I think very similar to Andrew George here. Yeah, you can tell both teams want to win this first game. They're going to pull out their best players. One of their best starters started this game went six and two thirds. And now he's got an opportunity with another great pitcher for them trying to get a win here up six to four, bottom six. Two out, one men on for Rocco Tanuta. First pitch is in there for a high. ball looked like it could have been a strike. Tanuta lays off.
Starting point is 01:53:11 1-0 count now. Like we said, he's up. And then as Zach Kent, can get on with two runners on. Could be something to watch. Outside to Nuda. They told him he could be around. Was close. Tried to lay off the outside fastball. It wasn't able to.
Starting point is 01:53:27 Looks like Bays is attacking early, trying to get out of this inning and move things to the bats for Lake Erie. Throwback there for Swenson. You don't want that guy to get in a running position or scoring position, but looks like Swenson was able to be able to. to read that and get back. Rocko, Tanuta. One ball, one strike, two outs, one man on.
Starting point is 01:53:46 The pitch. Outside half in there, Tanuda not super happy with it talking to the hump, but he knows how big this opportunity is here. One ball, two strikes, two outs. Churgers down two here, bottom six. Big opportunity here for Bays to get a strikeout, get out of this ending, and move things to the seventh.
Starting point is 01:54:04 Kick steals, fires way outside. Tanuda lays off. That's how you kind of settle in. When you're down one, two, You want to get that count back to where it's more favorable, where they have to throw one in the zone. Does a great job there laying off. Kind of one of those guys that crowds the plate. 2-2, 2-outes.
Starting point is 01:54:21 Kick-steels, fires. Tanuta, popped to right field. Don't know if they'll have time to make a play. It's going to find the bullpen, and that's huge. Tenura is super happy. Didn't make great contact, but it is another pitch that Bays has to throw in this inning. Settling back in after the foul ball.
Starting point is 01:54:39 Rocco here just looking for a single. Let's get Zach Kent up here. Let's get the guy who can swing the bat, has the RBIs, has everything here. And it has an opportunity to face someone he hasn't seen. Could be advantageous as he has been out three times here. Kicksteels fires outside. Great take from Tanuta. Now things are three-two.
Starting point is 01:54:56 Charger fans starting to give a little life back. And as we said, this place will erupt with any hit from Tanuda. Only down two. Each team has seven hits. The three-two throws back to Swenson. He gets back. It's kind of worried. I saw Rocco looking right at the umpire when that,
Starting point is 01:55:12 one hit. He's been calling those strikes for most of the day, so a little happy to see that he was lay off the right one that the hump doesn't think was in there. Full count, two outs. Payoff pitch on its way. Tenuto rips it foul. He wanted that one a great at bat here from Tanuta, and this is what you want. Relief pitchers not known for throwing a lot of pitches. I know he'll probably play the seventh as well, but there's a great job from Tanuta working this count. It's a full one. It's a big one. Here we go. Three-two, Tanuta. High fly ball to right field. It's going to go. foul two guys running after a tough play not going to be able to make it and a tough fall there dangerous by the fence for travis yancovich ran into it and he's not happy
Starting point is 01:55:54 try to make a great play and he gave everything he had because he knows that ends the inning but tenuda fouls another one off and the three two is back in play ronko tanuta great at bat here against bays great matchup guard swenson on first kick steals fire swenson on the And Tanuda works about a 10 pitch walk. What a job for Rocco Tanuda there. Was down 1-2, was fighting. And now Zach Kent, the power hitter, D.H in that third spot. And on deck is Will Lehman, who's got on base every time he's been up there.
Starting point is 01:56:32 And they're going to take a little mound visit here, calm things down. Let's cool things down because a base knock here. If it finds a gap, could tie this game. Huge opportunity for the seniors at Kent. Rocko Tudaninna must have a scouting report here because Hunter Bays, although he has a low batting average, is the highest of their relief pitchers on walks. Great job. Being patient. Kent, with an opportunity here. Tenoon first. Swenson on second. The O-O-O-2 outs. Throws back to Tanuta. And he gets caught in a pickle here. Chargers don't really know what to do. The ball is getting thrown around.
Starting point is 01:57:08 Now Swenson's in a pickle. Not great base running. Can Swenson get back? He can. Ken and the ball is thrown into the outfield and everybody's safe. Rocco Tanuta frustrated with his coach because he thought maybe a double steal, maybe something, but a great job to stay patient there from him and Swenson. When you have that runner in front of you makes the pickle that much harder, but they can't get them out and now O-O count. Two outs in the first air from Lake Erie. Everyone take a deep breath here as a 6-4 ball game.
Starting point is 01:57:38 Zach Kent, biggest situation of the game. Kix steals fires the O-O-O in there for a ball. Oh my goodness, what a play there. Tenoota got caught lacking, but he did a great job. Staying patient, not getting picked off, stayed in the pickle. Swenson was in a pickle at one point. And there we are back with the 1-0. Inside to Kent in there for a strike.
Starting point is 01:57:59 Kent doesn't like it, but it's going to be a strike, and it has been all day. One-one count now. Two-outs. Runners on, first and second. Tanuda and Swenson. Lefty, lefty here, bays. kicks deals fires the one-one Kent rips one to the first baseman
Starting point is 01:58:15 and it's caught what a hit from Zach Kent but it's right to Jackson Creece who is playing in that shift on the pull hit from Kent and he's frustrated because if that first baseman is at any other spot it's a double down the line but instead we're headed to the 7th
Starting point is 01:58:31 so you can do a quick break here you listen to Radio for Yillsdale 101.7 FM Charger baseball I'm Gordie I'm Ryan this is the Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group. Starting point is 01:59:38 Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Radio for Heelsdale, 101.7 FM, Charger, baseball 6 to 4 here. of seven and an exciting game we have here. Zach Kent hit one on the screws, but just right to creased playing down that line. Kent does like to pull the ball and they, a great job from coach to have that shift on. And now things do not get any easier for Andrew George who allowed two runs last inning. He's got to face the top of the order and their best hitter Travis Yankovich. Another time there where the Chargers leave ducks in the pond. Pretty much every inning they've had base runners just not able to capitalize. Definitely should be.
Starting point is 02:00:15 be an interesting finish to this one. And if you're George, you're just thinking, get out of this inning. It's only going to be a two-run game. The Chargers have Will Lehman, Augie Hodgson, and Will Millard up. So you get out of this inning, anything can happen in the bottom of the seventh. Time on the field is George settles in here for the first pitch of the inning. Ripped down the foul baseline there for Yankovic, left-hand side. O'1. George has that fast motion pitching. Seems like he's always in the stretch there. pretty common for relief pitchers he's trying to attack and get out of one here deal won a great curveball there ripped with a lot of movement in there for a strike on yank
Starting point is 02:00:55 he's got him down o two and that's a great pitch absolutely beautiful george here the o two great pitch on the inner half gets them looking in the backwards k for george starts off the inning will mallard tried to rip it around the horn threw it over the head of tenuda but andrew george walking around the mound there fired up after two great sliders that really just moved off the plate into the plate. Freezes Yankevich, one out now, and he's got to face Michael Geissie. Mikeke Geysie here. First one in there for a strike, and Andrew George has really found things after that last inning.
Starting point is 02:01:34 Just getting ready here, McCall it, Immaculate inning. Yeah. Three lefties in a row tough for him, but he's attacking at another heater for George, and he's up 02. Are you kidding me, Andrew George, so tough to. kind of respond after that tough inning, but he's fired up and he is throwing the ball fast and with movement. The O2, one out. George gets him again.
Starting point is 02:01:58 Uh-oh. Fries him with an absolute beauty of a slider. What a pitch just freezes him. Six pitches, two strikeouts? That is six pitches, two strikeouts. But once again, things not getting easy. You rejects increased one of their best hitters and another lefty. Three lefties in a row is real tough for a righty, but I tell you what, George, not afraid of the moment here.
Starting point is 02:02:18 Two down. Another strike there for George fouled off from Creece. O one now. Andrew George is in a flow state. See what we have here. O one. Just going after these batters, just throwing strikes the O1. Fowled down the first base line.
Starting point is 02:02:40 O2 count once again. George is going to throw his best pitch here trying to get three Ks in this inning. Nine pitches. Wow. This is unbelievable from a relief pitcher, and this gives you momentum. I'm heading into those bats. If he can get them out here.
Starting point is 02:02:54 The O2, George fouled off. There goes the immaculate inning. We were hoping for it, and it was a great fastball. Crease gets a piece fit. Still up O2, though. Two out, it's no runners on. Lake Erie up six to four here, the top of the seventh. George gets the sign.
Starting point is 02:03:12 Kix steals, fires down the third base line. Tenuta grabs it. What a play. Fires it to Lehman. Got him. What a play from Will Lehman. And Rocco Tanuda and a one, two, three. inning with two Ks for Andrew George.
Starting point is 02:03:24 And now we have the bottom of the 7th for the Chargers. Take you to a quick break here. You're listening ready for Heelsdale, 101.7 FM. Charger baseball. Gordy. I'm right. Fox on Games. Your Insiders' cheat code to gaming. Dreamhaven may break out as the newest publisher

Starting point is 02:04:32 Fox News. Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Radio Freelsdale 101.1.7 FM, Charger baseball here, bottom seven to run game. What a moment it will be for the charge if they're able to come back. But they have to face another arm. It's going to be number 19. A.J. Dolomier, the sophomore closer, out of Washington Courthouse, Ohio.
Starting point is 02:04:52 Yeah, exactly here. Their main closer, Brandon Medivier, played yesterday. He's their guy. He's usually the one to do that, but with his arm a little sore still, I'm guessing. They're going to bring out AJ. Rocking about 8 to 9 ERA right now, and it's 0 for 2. I don't look to kind of change things up here. For the chargers, though, you look at this,
Starting point is 02:05:13 and you see these have about a 300 batting average against everybody he faces, so, you know, they know that he's the type of guy that they can swing on, and hopefully get a rally started. but the storm hoping to end this one now. Yeah, with the next game closing in right after this, but things are going to be tough for Dahlemeyers. He's got to face the man of the game so far for the Chargers. Will Lehman, a couple huge hits, a couple walks as well.
Starting point is 02:05:37 I mean, he's just kind of been doing it all. And then you got Augie Hutchinson, who's been great patience at the plate. I believe he has two walks and a hit by pitch, and then Will Malard, who had that clutch hit. So things are going to be interesting here. should be a fun finish to this one. Six to four, seven hits for both teams, two airs for the Chargers.
Starting point is 02:05:56 Dolomier, definitely interesting that they took out Bays. He might have pitched recently, so they didn't want to just want to get him a couple outs. He did that for them, but here we go. Lehman. First pitch in there on the outside, and Dalemeyer thrown with some heat, as we see for most closing pitchers. See if the Chargers can time it up and find a huge rally here. Raymond will start things off with a single up the middle. middle and have yourself a day will layman what a rip right back where it came from finds that gap
Starting point is 02:06:25 and now ogy hutchinson up no outs runner on first and dolly mary trying to settle in throws that fastball in the inner half layman turns on it gets a base knock yeah expected auger to be real patient here hey four at bat's getting on base with just walks would be great for him yeah he's not mad about that first pitch on the way from dollemeyer hi great take there from hutchinson you know he wanted it but he takes it. One o count now. Lehman on first, as we said, and the Chargers with a chance to really rally here at the bottom. Fowled off, great swing by Hutchinson. Again, he doesn't really swing at many balls, taking his time, one-one count now. Well, he's definitely just an example of a player where the batting average doesn't speak for his game. You know, I mean, when you can get on
Starting point is 02:07:05 base three times in a game without even having to swing the bat, it's a pretty good day for you. 1-1-Layman on first. Dalemar Tick Steele's fires. Hits him. Oh, my gosh. Off the helmet? What? Hutchinson got absolutely smoked and it went over the head of Tomire after he hit it. I mean, that ball cannot hit you any harder. Might have been off the inside shoulder there. Maybe the helmet. I thought it was the helmet with how it ricocheted. Trainer Jordan, going to kind of check on him and say, hey, you are right?
Starting point is 02:07:39 But that is two hit by pitches, two walks. And a senior that has just been amazing for the Chargers today, not afraid to take. take one and he's like, hey, um, right on my helmet. On his head, but not the way you like it. No, yeah, now Will Mallard. He had the clutch RBI in the bottom of the fifth. And now Dahlmeyer is thinking, oh, my goodness, we're in a situation. I don't want to be in as a closer.
Starting point is 02:08:04 Two men on, no men out. And Will Mollard, who is very clutch. Uh-oh. This is starting to get interesting. And I don't visit here. Do you take him out already? I don't think so. You can't take him out until he faces three.
Starting point is 02:08:15 He has to face at least Millard. So that's something that is good for the Chargers, the way Dolomir is throwing right now. And after this, the bottom of the lineup for the Chargers, sure, but those guys, they really grind. They get on base, Sowers and Porowski. They've done a great job, even JASIC. So it doesn't really get easy.
Starting point is 02:08:32 The Chargers lineup has done great. They do have eight hits. They just haven't been able to get those runners in. Let's see if Millard can do it once again. No outs here, too. I mean, this is just a great situation. This is a great game we have here as the Sun. starting to shine once again. It's kind of been off and on today, but it looks beautiful here
Starting point is 02:08:49 on the turf field. Hillsdale, Will Mallard with a chance infield in, trying to get a double play. Mallard's first pitch on its way. Bunt coming. Pulled it back. Pulled it back. Great job for Mallard and a bunt. You just need two runs. If you can bunt these runners to second and third, that is ginormous, especially for Sowers who has that triple. So it could be smart, but we'll see if Mallard who does have that single can rip one again the one oh on its way tries to get a bun again pulls that pack that is unbelievable as it I mean I used to be a lead off hitter and bun and I could never pull it back you try to get everything down that's great patience from will mallard and now two oh count no outs runners on first and second this game is kind of flipped on its head
Starting point is 02:09:34 here sign coming in from the third base coach see what they're going to have him do if he's going to lay down another one infield playing aggressively in mallard is going to get one down it off his own foot. Definitely interesting that they still trying to get that bun down because the way that the first baseman is playing in, if he could rip a double play, that really ends up on the ground. Look at that space between the second basement and the shortstop there. You got plenty of room. You could sling it in there. And that's going to the wall almost so. And that's right where Millard hit it last time. It should be interesting. The 2-1, Millard not able to get it down. Hold it back again. That high heater. What a job from Will
Starting point is 02:10:09 Millard to pull it back. Three balls all on bun attempts. You give him the green light here? I am giving him the green light here. They're still playing in. You can't have a bad bun. I say let him rip it. 3-1 count here on its way. Kick steals fires. He's still trying to get it down. And it's foul again. Wow. And now the bun's out of play. The bun is out of play. Three-two count and a strikeout here could be huge for Dahlemeyer to try to get some momentum. Definitely an interesting approach from the chargers because Will Mollard is like we said he did have that single but they're not giving him an opportunity don't have a choice here shift is off back to regular baseball in the infield three two the payoff pitch from Dalemeyer on its way tries to do a punt
Starting point is 02:10:51 wow pulls it back what a job there from will mallard you never see someone try to punt with three strikes because that's just if it's foul he's out and that's a terrible out to have when you have momentum but what a play from will Millard kind of it kind of gets in your head as a because you don't want to give him something that's good to bunt. And the bullpen looks like it might begin in the call. Only three hitters, no outs. Bases are juiced for Tyler Sauer. This is the guy you want.
Starting point is 02:11:22 The way he's been hitting today, he has ripped the baseball, and this is what you want. You have the bases loaded, and a new pitcher coming in once again. You know it's probably not going to be their best closer, but it might be hard to see the number now. But what a job there from Will Millard. They're telling him to Bunn. He's going to listen to the coach, but he pulls it back four times. Gets a walk.
Starting point is 02:11:43 Absolute insanity of discipline from Millard. I mean, that was just fun to watch. Yeah, that was unbelievable. And there's no outs. Bases are loaded. And another pitcher, as we mentioned, looks to be number 14. Uh-oh, it's their guy. It is the real deal closer.
Starting point is 02:11:58 Brandon Medivir, the junior. Only 5'9 from Nassah, New Hampshire. Bishop Gwarton Nichols. High score. saves this year on 11 appearances. This is the guy they're going to go to. This is the guy they trust did play yesterday too. They're bringing them back out.
Starting point is 02:12:14 They're saying, we need you here. We trust you. Get this done. Yeah, and it's definitely interesting because even if the Chargers do end up squandering this opportunity and losing, obviously we don't want that to come into fruition. But this guy cannot pitch whatsoever for the next game. So definitely a bold choice.
Starting point is 02:12:32 Coach says, you know what, we need to win this game. We've been off all game. We've been hitting great. Chargers are a very solid team in the GMAC. Let's just get this win. But three outs is what he has to do, and he has to face a hot bat and Tyler Sowers. Yeah, I mean, this is just going to be a great matchup.
Starting point is 02:12:48 Looking at him warming up right now. He's got that nasty slider with some great movement on it. It's definitely interesting, too, a 5-9 pitcher, really not something you normally see those bigger guys that can get that arm angle, so probably doesn't throw it as fast, but it doesn't look to have some great action on his pitches. So Sowers, I'm sure. But the thing is, it's not like he's a pitcher they haven't seen,
Starting point is 02:13:06 because they've played against them even yesterday. I know that things might change a little bit. This is a great opportunity. Not sure which batters face them for the Chargers, but Sowers has a great opportunity here. A base knock ties this ballgame. Because Hutchinson with great speed at second. Yeah, excuse me.
Starting point is 02:13:23 Hutchinson at second, and then Will Lehman at third. I mean, you need something here. I mean, could get the sack fly, but you need to get something in play here, at least get the first one, advance the runners. You get two opportunities. You could get two sack flies if you needed to. Yeah, I mean, there's no outs.
Starting point is 02:13:39 Only need two runs, eight hits for the Chargers, and Tyler Sowers. Only a freshman, but he has been huge all day with that basis clearing triple. Two RBIs on the day. See what Sowers has here. Great matchup, as we said, against their ace out of the bullpen, Medivir. Medivir's first pitch to the O-O, no man out. Bases loaded. Medivir delivers, and he hit him.
Starting point is 02:13:59 He hit Tyler Sowers on his first pitch, and the Charger bullpen is fired up. Are you kidding me? His arm might be a little tired. Medivir, not a guy that does this much, just destroys the backside of Sowers, stood in there. And that wasn't even one where he didn't flinch or just kind of ate it.
Starting point is 02:14:18 He did turn. Yeah, he tried to avoid it, and it just got him. Smoked him, and now Billy Pulaski with a chance, no-out bases loaded. Oh my goodness, how has this game changed? Medivir, kick steals, fires in there. Great fastball. Way to respond there after Plunk and Sowers.
Starting point is 02:14:34 but no outs, bases loaded, and Billy Paroski with a chance to walk things off for the Chargers. Paraski on the 01 against Medivir. Medivir delivers. Outside, ball one. Great take there from Parowski. This is a fun end to the game here. Bottom seven, six to five now. Chargers down one, bases loaded, no outs. One-one count for Billy Paraski. Freshman second baseman for the Chargers. Kick steals, fires in there for strike two. And the only thing here is, obviously you don't want that double play.
Starting point is 02:15:09 Infield's playing in looking for it, but you cannot strike out. You cannot strike out. A deep fly ball will score Hutchinson tie this ball game. And then you can settle in, worry about the rest later. Medivir, the one two, kick steals, fires in there for strike three looking. Pulaski doesn't like it. It finds the corner big out there to respond from Medivir. But now you got to face the nine-hole hit or just.
Starting point is 02:15:32 Jasek, who he's had some good A-Bs today. He's done a great job. He's a nine-hole hitter, but he's got great speed. He can run stuff out. Just can't have a double play to end this game. The Chargers, I mean, this is a great opportunity, but Medivir is a great pitcher, so it should be a fun match up here. J-Sik.
Starting point is 02:15:48 No out. Base is loaded, one out. Medivir. Kek steals, fires. Oh, J-Sik, not happy as that is fouled back. Took a big hack at it. Really wanted to turn on that one. He knows.
Starting point is 02:16:02 Medivir is a great pitcher so you don't get many of those good opportunities but base is loaded Hillsdale down by one one out one strike deal one Medivir kicks deals fires inside jacic turns on another one and he's frustrated now it's 02 not a guy you can get behind the count and he's got some good stuff as we saw it when he was warming up and now he's a guy that does have a put-away pitch unlike some other lake eerie pitchers now it's oh two one out basis still loaded for Jasek. Huge moment in this game,
Starting point is 02:16:36 crowd, getting into it. The O2. Great hit from Jasek. It's going to drop. It's going to find the outfield. Hutchinson's going to score. They're going to keep Millard. They couldn't get a good read on it, but a big RBI single from Jasek ties this ballgame.
Starting point is 02:16:51 And that was one where maybe you could have scored Malar. But a great job of them to make sure it lands because if you get doubled up, the ball game's over. I know it stinks that you have to take the tie, but you're playing more baseball and bass is loaded one out guard Swenson and Swenson is up this is another guy you want this whole lineup for the Chargers has been playing spectacular today yeah nine hits I mean just something great to see today great hit from Jsick down 02 now a hit scores it and ends it here Swenson first ones outside ball one Swenson here top of the order due up Rocco Tenoona next and the Chargers have fought their way all the way back six to six What a game we have here in the first one of two. Tied at six.
Starting point is 02:17:37 Kix steals, fire. Swenson takes one low. Wow. He doesn't like it, but it is a ball. Two balls now. Righty versus lefty situation here. Great pitcher is Medivir, but can he close this game? Already has a blown save even if he gets out of it.
Starting point is 02:17:53 We'll see what we have here. Medivir. Kick, steals, fires. Inside ball. No, it's that right half of the plate that's going to be a strike. Great take there from Swenson. Don't force anything. Don't want to double play here.
Starting point is 02:18:05 It's kind of kill the momentum. Two one count, one out. Bases loaded. Six-six ball game here. Bottom seven. Medivir. Gets the call. Kick steals, fires.
Starting point is 02:18:15 Swenson tips it. Can it loop into left field? It doesn't. They're going to tag. No, they're not. They're going to hold the runners there. Looked like it might have been a little blooper into the outfield for Swenson. But a great jump by the left fielder.
Starting point is 02:18:30 Geisy. And two outs, Medavir. Stay impatient. And here we go. Rocco Tanuta. He had a huge opportunity last time he was up, worked a walk after being down one, two. And now here he is.
Starting point is 02:18:42 With the biggest opportunity of the game, Chargers do not want to squander this one and go into extras. Base knock here ends the ball game. Two outs. Base is loaded. The O-O, Mettivir, kicks, deals, fires in there for strike one. Mike Eversole. Coach here.
Starting point is 02:19:01 Lake Erie Storm can see him shouting out to his players. He's definitely fired up in this situation. He's trying to find a way out of this seventh inning that has produced two runs to tie it for the Chargers. The O-1 to Tanuta gets the sign. Kix steals, fires, inner half. Ball there. Great take from Tanuta, a guy who crowds the plate. Does a great job to back up there.
Starting point is 02:19:23 Take the ball, one-one count now. What a great game we have here, all square, nine hits for the Chargers, seven for Lake Geary 6-6. The one-one count. Two outs. Bases loaded. Tenuda takes one high. Ball two. Rocco Tanuta has been unbelievably patient. Even in this big moment, you want to be that guy that hits that walk-off single, but right now he's staying patient. A walk-off walk does the same thing. Two-one count against Medivir. Bases loaded. Two outs for the chargers. Kix deals, fires. Tanuta rips one foul down the third base line. He wanted it. He's frustrated now. it's a 2-2 count. What a game. What a finish we have on our hands. Rocko Tanuta.
Starting point is 02:20:07 Only a sophomore but has great poise for this Chargers ball club. Base is loaded. 2-2-66. Two-outes. 2-2-2-tonuta. On the way from Medivir. Inside ball three. What a change from Rocco Tanuda. Almost clipped in there. Would have been a walk-off hit by pitch, but instead, It's bases loaded. It's 3-2. It's 2 out. It's 6-6.
Starting point is 02:20:35 Here we go. Metavir looks. Taking his time here. The payoff pitch. Runners on the move. Tanuda rips one to center field. Gets a great jump on it and it's out. What a hit from Tanuda.
Starting point is 02:20:48 But instead it's an out. He's frustrated, but we have free baseball here at Lenda and Glenda Field. Taking you to a quick break before the 8th. With Fox on Tech, Mark Meredith, Fox News, Fox News, Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM Charger Baseball, an absolute OT thriller now. Six to six, to six. Andrew George, get the ball back for the charges who had a fantastic inning last time he was in, trying to make quick work of Lake Erie, who's brought in a substitute hitter, Aden Shoup.
Starting point is 02:22:25 The graduate senior 5-11, 200 pounds from Avin Lake, Ohio, Finley High School. going to Lake Erie and this is a guy who is a veteran for them, graduate senior. This is a big moment. You want him in there. This should be a fun finish and it was. That last inning base is loaded. Chargers got the two runs and then kind of got stalled by Medivir. But the good thing for the charges is Metavir. I'm not sure if he has another inning in him, especially pitching yesterday.
Starting point is 02:22:53 Andrew George, a guy who is on fire. Overtime rules, obviously having a runner on second to start things just like in the majors. George. kick steals, fires, trying to get a bun down. Ball one there. Great job pulling it back. A bun is a smart move here. You get that runner over to third with only one out if he gets out.
Starting point is 02:23:13 It's definitely a different strategy here with that runner already on second. George, the 1-0. And on second trying to get a bun down, and he kind of doesn't have a great angle on it. Fowls it off. You never want that bun to get in the air because that kind of negates the purpose of it. But that one goes foul back to 1-1. What a fun game.
Starting point is 02:23:36 we have here on the first half of the two games. They split the first two. Chargers trying to make a comeback victory here. The one-one. Shoup tries to get a bunt down. He does. Down the fair base line. George is going to take his time, gets the out to Parowski. Whoa. And they kind of ran into him.
Starting point is 02:23:52 Parowski's got to fix his glasses, but a great play to cover there. Laman and George both went out of it. That's just smart baseball from Lake Erie. You kind of have been struggling here. Chargers have the momentum. Get that runner over to third. Even though it isn't out, it's a great job. And now you got Exposito up, who ripped one.
Starting point is 02:24:06 earlier in this game. Andrew George, though. The type of pitcher to not let that happen. He's been playing well. Ever since he gave up that two RBI single. George here, the O.O. Great pitch, fastball, and he has been there making them miss pitcher. We haven't seen many swings and misses on both sides.
Starting point is 02:24:27 A lot of foul balls, but George, great stuff here. Takes the count to 0.1. Run around third, one out here, and extras. George kicks deals, fires outside half in there for a shot. strike and a big one and I tell you what this is a great opportunity with a strikeout pitcher like George so far if you can get out of this one with a K don't really allow for that sack fly opportunity Georgia's trying to come back in this one top of eight here six six the O two outside ball there from George Andrew George this season averaging about a strikeout per inning at least yeah it's very
Starting point is 02:25:02 impressive a guy who comes in and throws great stuff obviously gave up that two RBI single but has really rebounded. The 1-2 on its way. Fowled off. Thought he got Exposito with that one. Unable to. Great pitch there. Still 1-2. One-out, runner-on third. With the Chargers tying it up at the bottom of the seventh, and we've gone to extra innings in the seven-inning affair. George, the 1-2, great curveball. Fowled off. It's going to go over to the dugout. Nobody can get to it. Back to 1-2. That great slider, again from George was able to kind of come back in the zone. Exposito fouls it off late on the off speed because he has to defend. Expect a fastball right here if I had a guess here.
Starting point is 02:25:46 One two, a strikeout or a ground ball could prevent that run from getting in here. George, kicks deals, fires, great pitch. George right back. What a play from Parowski and he's out. What a diving play went off the mid of George and Billy Parowski gets an out and saves run for the Chargers. What an amazing play to hold that runner at third with the diving stopped almost certainly that was going to be a RBI single and now two outs. Man stranded at third. Let's see how Andrew George could finish this one out. He almost picked it himself on that on the comebacker. Had a flashback of the one that went by his mid earlier that gave up two runs this time
Starting point is 02:26:24 Parowski's got his back and returns with a strike on Mitchell Samashik playing center or playing catcher today and stranding jacks increased on pillie praski with the web gem in the hole at second the o one now for george two outs run around third great curve ball but it's hammered going to be fine to center field chargers are talking about it and swenson gets under it and andrew george is fired up as he closes out the inning no runs strands the extra runner that they get in extras. That'll do it from the top of the eighth. Take you to a quick break here.
Starting point is 02:27:03 Listen, ready for Eelsdale, 101.7 FM Charger Baseball. I'm Gordy. I'm right. Telling the stories of those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor. Here's Juna Suhita. On June 6, 1918, Gunnery Sergeant Charles Hoffman was serving near Chautau-Tierry, France. His company had taken Hill 142 and was attempting to consolidate their position.
Starting point is 02:27:24 But immediately after taking the position, enemy forces began launching several hostile counter attacks against the line. Sergeant Hoffman was attempting to organize a position on the north slope of the hill when he saw 12 of the enemy armed with five light machine guns crawling towards his group. Given the alarm, he rushed towards the hostile detachment, bayoneted the two leaders and forced the others to flee, abandoning their guns. His quick action, initiative and courage drove the enemy from a position from which they could have swept the entire hill with machine gunfire and forced the withdrawal of American troops. For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty, gunnery Sergeant Charles Hoffman received
Starting point is 02:27:58 both the Navy Medal of Honor and the Army Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Hello and welcome back to a great one here. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM, Charger, baseball. All knotted up at six here. Bottom of the eighth extra innings. Rocco Tenoon will start on second. And Medivir getting the ball again.
Starting point is 02:28:22 Not a guy who probably ever pitches more than one inning as their closer. Pitched yesterday as well. The coach knows is a big moment, but he does have to face the big lefties. Zach Kent, which is a favorable matchup for him, righty-lefty. Exactly. And, you know, Zach Kent may have struggled today. Had that one that he just lined out to first base that would have given him the lead earlier.
Starting point is 02:28:40 And now, Zach Kent can't get everything back. Everything that might have been a mess up today. One swing of the bat makes you the hero of the day. Yeah. And then if you can, if you can get Ken out, it does not get easier. Will Lehman, four for four on getting on base today. He's just been spectacular for the Chargers. And Medivir has a tough task ahead of him.
Starting point is 02:29:05 Tanuta on second. All squared. No runs so far in extras. Lake Erie unable to score that runner from second after the George shutdown. Here we go, the OO. Taking his time, Medivir, kicks deals, fires, and Zek, Kent looking to bunt. To Nuda, looked like he was ready to take off, make sure he got to third. Great job pulling it back there from Kent.
Starting point is 02:29:27 It is a great strategy, but a hiter, like. like Kent, you're kind of surprised to see him bunting. Yeah, a little bit. Maybe it's just because he's been struggling today. Hey, let's get you productive for the team on maybe a day that isn't yours. The 1-0 to Kent. Looks to lay down another one, pulls it back again. And that has been great for the Chargers. It is tough to pitch.
Starting point is 02:29:45 When you see that guy bunting, you want to get one out of the zone, maybe get him to pop one up. But the Chargers are done a great job of pulling it back now. 2-0 count. Run around second. 6-6 here and extras. Metavir, looks back, kick steals, fires. takes a strike there, pulled the bunt back on a little bit of a high one, but able to get it in there now, 2-1.
Starting point is 02:30:08 You know, you think they're going to give Kent the green light here at some point, but they are trying to advance that runner. They just need one to win this game. First of two today. Meta-eer, kick steals, fires. Kent gets it down the first base line. It's fair, it's an out, but Tanuta is now on third. A great job of Kent to get it down.
Starting point is 02:30:26 And the reason they do that is because Will Lehman is up. And that's the guy you want Swin and Twig right now. He has made contact on every pitcher. He's seen three of them today. He's got on base four times. They just walked him. And an intentional walk for Will Lehman. That's unbelievable.
Starting point is 02:30:41 A guy who's four for four. And now you set up the double play. It's the right play to do because the double play ends it. But it doesn't get easier with Augie Hutchinson, who's also been on base four times with two walks and two hit by pitches. Wow. Sure. I mean, that's a great play, but you hate to see it as a Charger fan
Starting point is 02:30:58 because you wanted to see Will Lehman keep that streak going, the way he's been hitting today. Doesn't get an opportunity, but Augie Hutchinson, the senior right fielder does. Double play ball ends this inning, and we go to full nine. See what we have here.
Starting point is 02:31:14 Medivir. The O.O. Kick steals fires. Hutchinson takes one outside. Great stop there from Samasik. Doing a great job because of pass ball. Tenuto's running and scoring and ending this game. Doesn't allow it to happen.
Starting point is 02:31:27 1-0 count now. Hutchinson, great patience all day. Medivir, the 1-0. Runners on the corners, one out. Inside, great swing from Hutchinson followed off the wall, or the netting, excuse me, and that was one that he really liked, and he's been patient, really not swinging at anything outside of the zone. Turns on the corners, one ball, one strike, one out. One run ends it.
Starting point is 02:31:53 Here in extras. Metavir gets the sign. Kicks, steals, fires. Outside ball two. Medivir not looking like his nose. normal self, usually the dominant closer for the Lake Erie Storm, someone that's turned around this pitching game for them. Hutchinson 2-1. Metavir taking us time.
Starting point is 02:32:17 Deals at home. Hutchinson, deep-fly ball to right center. Gonna have a chance to tag. Tanuta gets the sign. He's going home. The throw, not going to get it cut off. And Rocco Tanuta scores. Augie Hutchinson walks it off for the Chargers. Seven to six.
Starting point is 02:32:32 What a game in the first to two. and they crowding and storming Augie Hutchinson, the senior, who has been hit by two pitches, walked, and now an RBI sack fly to do it. Wow, you did what you had to do. He did exactly what he had to do. That's Augie Hutchinson.
Starting point is 02:32:48 That's the senior experience that you expect from a kid like that. And the Chargers come back multiple times in this game and finally ended at the bottom of the eighth, and that really gives you momentum for this second game as well. Coming up. What a game here at Lenda and Glenda Hill. stadium. Thank you guys for tuning in. You listen to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM Charger Baseball.
