And we are talking about the baseball game here in Landa and Glenda Hillsdale. Hill Stadium.
I'm Emily Shody.
And I'm Megan Pitcock.
And it's a beautiful day here in Hillsdale, sunny Michigan, which is not usually how we're going to describe Michigan these days.
Yeah, true. It's been a little cold. It's a little cold out today, but it's still a beautiful day for baseball.
Yes, absolutely.
Today we are playing Ohio Dominican University coming to us from Columbus.
It is our second weekend of home games at our still very new stadium.
Only it's the second year in use.
innovation yeah and it's beautiful much much more accessible too than our former stadium this is true this
true it definitely needed an overhaul so it's good that this is this is uh how it turned out yeah yeah
so where are we at me again currently with our our team so hillsdale we are at a 12 loss and nine
win streak right now correct yes so hopefully we can add
to the wind streak today.
Yes.
So we have two games going on today, the first against Ohio Dominican.
And then I think the second one is also against Ohio Dominican.
So we are definitely getting at that Ohio-Michigan rivalry for the day.
This is true.
This is true.
Which is funny because both of us are Ohio- is.
It's true.
We're both from Ohio.
Yeah.
Yeah.
As they were going through the lineup, one of the guys was from
Cleveland. I wonder where he went to high school because I would know. Okay. All right. Dominican is up to that.
The pitcher is number 11, Nolan Copens. Oh, sorry. He hits the ball. It is a foul ball.
To right field. Yes. Sorry, number 15. My bad is the pitcher. Jacob Palo from Grand Rapids.
Okay. One foul ball, one pitch given.
Pitcher number 50 from Dominican is Gavin Lawler.
Okay. That was a ball.
A ball.
So one ball, one foul.
And a strike.
This is a...
Another strike.
So we strike a ball and a foul right now.
And pitch and a hit.
Off into the outfield to...
And it's a catch.
Catch by number 14.
Jake Figman.
So...
Great. So that is...
He's on...
All right. So we're up. Number 50 is on...
Number 26, Stephen Chapman.
Second base.
Stephen Chapman is up to bat for Ohio Dominican.
Right.
It's a foul ball to left field.
So someone on second base and then someone's up to bat.
One foul ball.
Getting ready.
A pitch and then a hit.
Fly ball.
Out into left field.
And he caught it.
So one out.
Yes?
Yes.
One out.
One person on second base.
Number 12 from Ohio Dominican is up to back.
Drice Kiffin.
He's the shortstop number 12.
He's the shortstop for Ohio Dominican.
All right, getting ready to give the pitch.
Throwing.
Oh, trying to steal third.
Oh.
He's safe.
Safe on third for Ohio Dominican.
So no one on first second, but first batter on third.
Up to bat.
All still in the first inning.
Pitch.
Hit.
Out and two.
Yeah, field.
And he's out.
So we...
Two outs.
There are two outs.
Just happened.
So looking for that third out right now.
Number 28, Carson Willis.
But they did get the third basement, or the person on third did hit home.
So they have one home right now.
One point.
All right.
Number 28.
for Ohio Dominican, Carson Willis.
One ball.
All right.
Getting ready to throw the pitch.
Let's see.
One, one strike.
One strike and one ball.
Another pitch.
And swing and a miss for number 28, Ohio Dominican.
Two strikes, one ball.
Two outs.
And one run for Ohio Dominican.
Hits.
And straight pitcher.
And he's out.
That's the third.
So we are going to take a break as they switch.
So you're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale and the Charger Basketball.
Baseball on Radio Freehield.
So 101.1.7 FM.
Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're going to talk about the difference between me neither and me either.
Depending on who you ask, there really isn't one.
Colloquially, they do both mean the same thing.
so I'm in the camp that says they're pretty much interchangeable with a slight preference for me neither.
Actually, both phrases are probably grammatically wrong for somewhat complicated reasons I'm not going to drag us through.
On the internet, you will sometimes see people argue that me neither is used to agree with negative statements,
such as I don't eat grass, me neither, while me either is used to agree with positive statements.
They typically don't give an example of that latter case, and I'm pretty sure that's because there's not one.
I certainly couldn't think of any.
So the summary on this issue is don't use either one in formal writing, but also don't get too picky in a casual conversation.
That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegramomit.com for more tips and tricks.
And we're back to the second half of the first inning.
Ohio Dominican is pitching.
Hillsdale is up to bat on this beautiful spring day at the Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium.
On the Ohio Dominican side, it is number 25.
Is that 25, Emily?
I can't see.
Wait, up to pitch.
26.
So, already.
26 for Ohio Dominican.
Steven Chapman, up to pitch.
And currently the Panthers have one home run,
charters with none, and this is their first time up to bat.
Which is very exciting.
Yes, excited to see how this goes.
goes it's a seven inning game today the first game of the day number 16
Gerard Swenson on the hillside chargers is up to bat right now looks like he is a lefty
all right stepping up to bat getting ready with a pitch first pitch of a high
Dominican all right one strike so
Hopefully we can get it on this one.
You ready?
Second strike.
Yeah, it was close.
Two strikes, zero balls.
Zero out so far.
Although it hasn't been that long.
Pitch, hit.
Oh, and a catch.
And that's the first out of the Hillsdale part of this ending.
Up to that, we have number 32, Rocco.
Tanuda from Illinois.
Rocco is a sophomore, I believe.
Pretty sure I was in a theology class with him a couple semesters ago.
That's fun.
All right, back to right-handed here.
Let's see.
Pitcher just told the catcher to move over.
All right, first pitch.
Rule of strike.
All right.
First strike.
One out.
Hyg Jiminicum is up one though it's just the first inning it's still the first inning that was pretty close
oh oh man strike too yeah it was close though okay getting ready again for third pitch on rocko
you got it all right a third strike that's the second out for the inning so it's a bummer for hillsdale
they can they can come back though number 11 Nolan coppins is up right now um he's
He is lefty again.
I'm left-handed, so this is always fun when I see another out in the wild, although
he could just be able to.
Ambidextrous, you never know.
All right, getting ready for the pitch, throws, hit, and he's making it to first.
Oh, awesome.
Oh, okay, he's going to stay at first.
It's probably a good move.
It's safety move.
Yeah.
Number 26 is up to that.
Ryan from Cleveland, Ohio.
Ryan, wehee.
Yes.
Always love that.
He's the catcher for the Hillstall Chargers.
Ohio Dominican is up one.
It's only the first inning, though.
Hillstale's up to that.
With one on first.
First, the runner on first tried to steal the second,
and they tried to get him out, but they did not succeed.
Getting ready with the pitch.
It goes.
Oh, all right, foul ball.
Way behind us.
I guess you could say that was to right field, but also just kind of over the building.
All right, one strike, two outs.
Runner on first.
He keeps leaving first.
I think he's trying to inch forward.
Yeah.
All right.
Pitcher's getting ready.
Throwing the pitch.
All right.
Another foul ball to left field.
Run on first, tried to get to second, but since it was a valley to go back.
So.
All right.
Get ready for another pitch, two strikes, zero balls, two outs.
They keep trying to get the player on first out and not succeeding, which is good for Hillstall Chargers.
All right, getting ready with the pitch.
Goes hits.
All right.
Oh, safe on.
Oh, okay.
Third out of the...
It's a bummer.
Yes, that is a bummer.
All right.
The Chargers got to second base, but our first base did not quite make it.
We're into the second inning now.
And you're listening to Chargers baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group.
In 1980, Soviet troops invaded Afghanistan, straining relations between the United States and the then
Soviet Union. That same year, the Winter Olympics were taking place at Lake Placid, New York,
where the U.S. and Soviet hockey teams faced off for the Olympic gold. The U.S. team was the youngest
to ever compete in the Olympics, and the Soviet team were considered to be the best in the world.
Experts said it would take a miracle for the U.S. team to defeat the Soviets, and that is exactly
what happened. Still considered one of the most exciting Olympic competitions ever when the clock ran out,
the score-red Soviet Union 3, USA4.
This has been the Making of America.
I'm Michael Emerson, and you can visit us at jeffersonmediagroup.com.
And we're back.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale.
My name is Megan.
I'm here with Emily.
Hi, guys.
And it is a beautiful spring day at the Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium,
which I think I'm going to be saying a lot because it's just true.
It's so true.
Hey, it's been really, really true.
here lately. I came from Florida, from Spring Bree. Me too, actually. And it was such a bummer to
come back to a gray, cold Michigan. So it's nice that it's not gray. It's true. And it's only a little
cold. Baseball makes it better, too. All right, we're into the second inning. Ohio
Dominican is up to bat. Number 42, the first baseman. And we are currently, Ohio
Dominican is up one with one run.
And we are ready to go.
Seven inning game today.
Second game is after this.
42 is up to bat.
Ready for Ohio Dominican.
Getting ready with the pitch.
Strike one.
Good job to the pitcher.
And the pitch.
Swing and a miss.
So two strikes for right now, which is good.
It's good for the chargers.
Yes.
Getting ready for the next pitch.
Pitching.
And two strikes, one ball.
That was slightly high it looked like.
Very, getting ready again.
Let's throwing the ball.
Another ball.
A little too far out to the right.
It's a right-handed batter.
So a little too far in front of him.
Two strikes, two balls, second inning.
First part of the second inning.
Number 15, Jacob Paulo is the Hillsdale pitcher.
He's doing a pretty good job.
He's already thrown two strikes.
Let's see how he goes.
The pitch.
Another one.
And another ball.
Two strikes, three balls.
So we're getting to the tipping point here.
All righty.
To bat.
Getting ready with the pitch.
Throw the pitch.
And fourth ball.
So number 42 gets to first base.
All right.
Next batter up to bat.
Second basement number 29.
Grant Horn for Ohio, Dominican.
Getting ready.
There is a runner on first pitch.
Oh.
Oh, he bunts it.
That's it.
And we get one out.
Our first baseman,
pitcher through the first baseman, number 11,
who was stepping on the plate,
managed to get that before he got there,
which is good.
So we're at one out.
Number 15 is up to bat for Ohio Dominican,
a man on second.
And we're getting ready for the next set of pitches.
Hopefully they keep an eye out for the man on second
to steal bases, but pitch, swinging a miss for number 15.
So we're at one strike, one out, zero balls.
Ohio Dominican is up one right now.
All right, but you're getting ready again.
Checks back behind him to make sure nothing's going on.
Ah, ball.
A little bit too out front, yeah.
At first base, we have Nolan Coffins from Michigan.
All right, getting ready for next pitch.
Throws, hits.
It's a line drive?
No, that was a grounder.
Yep.
Groundball.
Second out.
Went to number nine.
Aaron Jasek, who's the infield, infielder,
threw it to first baseman and got him out.
So we're at two outs right now, a man on third.
Getting ready for the next set of pitches.
Number one is up for Ohio Dominican.
Mason Kurtz.
Throwing the pitch.
It's a ball.
Getting ready again.
Throwing the pitch.
Another ball.
A little too far out.
And on third, first part.
Second inning.
At
baseball stadium.
Linda and Glenda Hill.
Linda and Glenda Hill.
It's very fun to say.
Yeah, actually.
It's so fun.
All right, throwing ball.
Strike one.
All right, we have one strike, two balls, and on third.
Two outs.
And Ohio Dominican is up one.
Okay.
Getting ready for the next pitch.
Throwing.
Another ball for the chargers.
We're at three balls, one strike, two outs.
So if he can get, if he can strike this guy out, that'll be on to the charge.
he'll steal batting but hopefully
especially because
oh foul ball
yeah because we also have number 42
who stole third base
and he is
he is trying to steal home here
yes he is
all right getting ready for the next pitch
we're three balls two strikes
two outs
throws the pitch swing
hit ground ball
and that's the third
out
Ohio Dominican number 42
did get into home plate
so they have
They have two runs now.
They do indeed.
All right, switching to Hillsdale's time up to bat.
You're listening to Chargers baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
What's you doing over there?

The commitment, love of the game.
These traits describe the people high school sporting events can't start without.
The officials, they're out there every day giving back to our kids.
Let's give them the respect they deserve.

And we're back.
With Charger Baseball, my name is Megan.
And I'm Emily.
And once again, it is a beautiful spring day.
In Glenda and Glenda Hill Stadium.
We're in the second inning.
The second part of the second inning, the Hillsdale Chargers are up to bat.
Once again, Ohio Dominican is up with two runs.
Up to bat is number 14.
Jake Bigman.
From Florida.
Hey, where we just were.
Yeah.
Number 14, who is an outfielder.
All right, getting ready just to start off their time in the second inning.
All right, pitcher's getting ready.
Throwing the pitch.
And it's a hit.
Yes.
Going out to the outfield.
Number 14 makes it to first base.
We have one runner.
This is good for us.
We need.
Number 23, Tyler Turner
up is the right fielder
from Virginia.
No outs.
Getting ready for this second batter
of chargers
for this inning.
All right, getting ready.
Pitchers getting ready.
There's a pitch
hit.
goes out to the outfield and he catches it.
So that's the first out of this part of the inning.
Yeah, but our number 14 is still safe on on first.
He kept on and got himself back, so.
Still have one runner out there.
Up to bad, we have number 21, Tyler Sowers from Wheaton, Illinois.
He is an outfielder.
Getting ready.
All right, keeping an eye on, um, oh.
pitchers through the ball to the first baseman and try and get the first base runner out because he's been he's been creeping up there yeah yeah try it again oh my gosh
he's been safe both times so really really want to get our our guys on first out yes they do shut it down
all right so he's gonna actually throw the pitch this time or he's gonna try and get him out again
he's going to throw the pitch yep throw on the pitch
and it is a
ball. So
zero strikes, one ball,
one out.
Hillsdale's looking to get
another throw
to first base to try and get
the first base runner out.
Again, was unsuccessful.
So he's sticking pretty
close to the first base. He knows
this is their tactic.
21 is still up to bat.
26.
No, 26.
the pitcher.
Sorry.
No worse.
Yeah.
21.
All right.
One strike, one ball.
Okay.
Getting ready here for the next pitch.
One ball, one strike.
Pitches.
And that is the second ball.
Yes.
Two balls, a strike, and still an out for Hillsdale.
Okay.
Still have a runner on first.
And once again, the pitcher throws to the first basement to try and get
first runner out and was not successful.
That's what, the fourth or fifth time?
Granted, I haven't seen that much baseball in my life,
but I don't think I've seen that happen quite as often as this.
They're thrown back and forth here.
All right, pitch, and it is a ball.
So three balls, one strike here, which is good for our team.
Yeah, the chargers have a good chance to walk here.
All right, try again.
And once again.
That's number 26, the rest of 42.
Trying to get that first baseman out.
I don't, yeah.
I've been unsuccessful.
At this point, I would be shocked if he stayed, like, very close to the first base.
All right, getting ready for the next pitch.
He throws, and it's a hit.
Out into the outfield, he did not catch it.
So we've got two runners now out onto the field.
We have a runner at first and a runner at second, which is great.
Number 18.
Billy Paraski.
Perotsky.
He's up to bat.
Two runners on base, one out.
So, looking pretty good right now, I think.
I wonder if the same song and dance will happen again.
Oh, although he can't see...
Billy is from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Yes.
Okay, I'm from Dayton, so I love Cincinnati.
It's a great place.
I grew up in Cincinnati.
Yeah.
Ohio's a great place.
It is.
It is.
Or one strike, two strikes, three balls.
Is that right?
No, I don't think they have.
No, the board's not right, sorry.
I wrote it right off the board.
One strike.
And I was like, that's not right, actually.
All right, one strike, one out.
Hard Dominican is up.
One.
Oh, foul ball.
Oh, yes.
All right, we have a runner on first and a runner on second here.
And that's exactly the reason that the catcher has a face mask,
because that definitely hit him in the face.
Yeah.
did that was pretty close to the catcher in the empire all right two strikes one out
pitch pitch ball that's good one ball two strikes one foul ball one foul ball all right getting
ready for the next one we've got two runners and a runner at second and a runner at first pitcher is
looking back to make sure second base runner is not uh swing it in
for charters. So strikeouts. We're two outs right now. Number nine, Aaron. Jay Sick is up from Kalamazoo,
Michigan. Two runners out on the field for Hillsdale Chargers. Ohio Dominican is up one.
Up two right now, right? Yeah, they're up to you right now. Right. And that's a strike.
One strike, zero balls, two out on the second inning against Ohio Dominican.
Pitcher is really keeping an eye on that second-based runner.
He throws it and that's a foul ball.
Another one that came close to the catcher and the umpire.
Okay, getting ready again.
Pitcher is really keeping an eye on stealing bases.
Throws and yet another foul ball.
Another foul ball.
Two strikes, zero balls, two outs in the second inning against Ohio Dominican.
Seems like stealing bases is something that Chargers really like to do.
Or they're just very, all right, throws, pitchers, pitches.
Oh, that's the third strike.
Swing and a miss, and that's the end of the second inning.
You're listening to Chargers Baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Welcome to the Gramer Minute, where we're saving.
the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and I'm here to talk about email subject lines.
Don't ask me how, but I just found out recently that chat GPT can generate these for you.
It seems to like long, complete sentences, such as,
I really enjoyed our conversation at the conference yesterday.
This is grammatically correct, but the problem is that email subject lines are like social
media post captions.
Our lizard brains get three words in, and by then we've already decided if this is
something we want to read.
Thus, when you're writing an email subject line, sacrifice every word you don't absolutely need.
For the sample sentence, you could shorten it to great to meet you or follow-up XYZ conference.
If you feel the need to add more details, just know the recipient probably won't read them.
This is a great time for brevity and a great time to break almost every grammar rule.
That's your grammar minute.
Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. My name is Megan.
And I'm Emily here in Lenda and Glenda.
Hill Stadium watching the Charger baseball game against Ohio Dominican Panthers.
It is the top of the third inning.
The Panthers are up with two runs.
Two runs.
And Hill stills down with none.
Wait, I think, yeah.
Do they have one run?
I think they might have one run.
Oh.
No.
Out there.
Anyway.
First pitch, and it is ruled a strike, so good job pitcher.
Number 33 from Ohio Dominican is currently up to bat.
It's Will Schumer.
Another pitch.
It's a ball.
So we're at one ball, one strike.
All right, getting ready for the next pitch, throws it, and he tries bunting it, but it is a foul ball.
I wonder if that's going to be a strategy for them.
So our pitcher, Jick Apollo is junior here at Hillsdale College from Grand Rapids in Michigan.
All right, getting ready with the pitch, throw, and another ball here.
So we're at two strikes and two balls.
Zero out to the top of the third, the Ohio Dominican up to that.
All right, getting ready for the next pitch.
He throws, and another swing and a miss.
Third strike in the first out.
of the inning, which is good for the Hillstale Chargers.
Ohio Dominican is currently up with one.
Number 50 is up to bat, the center fielder for Ohio Dominican.
I only seen two left-handed hitters.
Both of them have been the Chargers.
Yeah.
So pitchers getting ready, throws it.
And strike one.
One out for the third inning.
Another pitch.
foul ball way out there into the right
right field
outside of the stadium
currently our catcher is number 26
Ryan Weehee
he was up to bat last
yeah he was
right pitch you're getting ready
throws the pitch
and that's the third strike second out of the inning
that's good
yeah it's good for the Hillsdale Chargers
hopefully they can get to back quickly
and get the point back
It's Stephen Chapman.
All right.
Stephen Chapman up for Ohio Dominican, number 26.
Getting ready.
No one out on a base.
Pitch throws and a foul ball out into the dugout of Ohio Dominican, actually.
Friendly fire there, perhaps.
I was going to say, I thought the rule was hit the enemy, not the friend.
All right, getting ready, throws it, and strike one.
Strike two, actually.
I was distracted by the foul ball situation.
All right, pitchers getting ready.
Throw his pitch and ball.
A little bit too far out there at front.
Two outs this inning, Ohio Dominican, is up by one.
No runners on faces.
He's been two for two for strikeouts, which is good.
He throws the pitch and another ball.
So we're at two balls, two stars.
drags right now, two outs at this third inning of seven. So it'll be a pretty quick game, I think.
Yeah. Chapman's still up to bat. He is. throws a pitch and he hits it out to third baseman,
who throws it to first, who does get there in time, and he's out. That's the third out of this
inning. So we're moving on to the Hillsdale Chargers being up to bat. You're listening to Chargers
on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
I'm Bill Hemmer, and these are the most impactful moments
in American history.
Thanks to technological breakthroughs,
improvements in transportation,
and a booming labor force,
America saw significant economic growth
in the late 19th century.
But with many new and changing sectors,
the stock market was a beast that was incredibly difficult to follow.
But all that changed in 1896.
When a journalist by the name,
of Charles Dow published the very first Dow Jones Industrial Average.
The index followed 12 industries, including cotton, tobacco, gas, and sugar.
Now it wasn't just bankers who had access to this previously exclusive information.
With the birth of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, ordinary people and investors had a way to
follow the highs and lows of the U.S. stock market, as well as the temperature of the country's
economy.

Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.1.7 FM.
We are at the baseball game, the second weekend of home games of this season,
although the season has been happening since January,
which is longer than I would have expected since opening day for the Major League Baseball
was just this past week, but it makes more sense with student schedules.
Yeah, and with weather.
True.
It's hard to have a game in the snow.
Yes.
As we've said, it is a beautiful day here.
It's a little chilly, but the sun is bright, very little clouds in the sky right now, which is nice.
It's a nice change of pace from the dreary days we've been having recently.
For sure.
It is, yeah.
We were about to head into the third inning.
Fourth inning.
Third inning.
Second part of the third inning.
My B guys.
Yes.
So we have Ohio Dominican.
to pitch and the Hillsdale Chargers up to bat.
Another lefty. Number 16 is up to bat at...
Guard Swenson from Plymouth, Minnesota.
Let's see if the trend continues of the pitcher being very vigilant about stealing bases.
I'll have Dominican.
Getting ready for the first pitch.
Throw and it is a ball.
A little bit too far forward.
in front of number 16.
All right, one ball.
Ohio Dominican is up by one.
He pitches, hit.
Can number 16 get to first?
Yes.
And he's safe.
It is safe.
So we have one runner on base.
Number 16, Swenson is on base.
And up to bat is number 32, Rocco Tanuta.
From Illinois.
All right.
Back to right-handed.
Keep an eye on this first base runner as we go into chargers.
All right.
Getting ready for this?
Ready?
Thurs the pitch and hit.
It is a foul ball.
First baseman.
Trying to get to second.
Goes back to first because it's foul.
All right.
Getting ready for this second hit.
of this part of the third inning.
Pio Dominican is up by one,
and the pitcher tries to throw it to first baseman
and get him out and fails.
Yet again.
They have not yet gotten them.
No.
Hopefully that trend continues.
All right, getting ready for this pitch, and again.
Tries.
They really want to fake him out.
He just dove for that base, pretty fast.
Yeah.
All right, getting ready.
The next pitch is he actually going to pitch it this time?
That's the question.
Let's see.
Is he going to try again?
Ready?
And pitch.
And that is strike one.
This whole stealing basis situation going on is really reminding me of playing spud with my siblings.
Now if you've ever played spud.
I have not.
It involves throwing balls at each other.
Hey.
And they do that.
And try to sit you.
Yeah, there you do it again.
Yeah.
You try to psych you out to think you're going to throw it in a different direction and then you actually do throw it at that person.
So.
Pitcher.
Preparing once again.
Dillon the second, and he pitches it, and he hits it out to the outfield.
One drive to outfield.
Oh, there was an attempt by one of the runners to get to third.
Did not decide to go back.
So we have two men on base.
Two men on base.
And number 11, Nolan Copens is up to bat.
First baseman for the Hills.
sell chargers. It's going to bat left-handed, which is fun. Two men on base, first and second
base, so hopefully the chargers can capitalize on this opportunity. And, um, pitcher really,
really keeping an eye on stealing bases. Pitch one tries to bunt it and it is a foul.
I definitely thought that hit his bat, so I think it's a strike. Yeah, that's actually,
Oh, is it a strike?
No.
I mean, it was a foul, but.
Oh, yeah, strike.
All right, one strike.
So your ball is zero outs right now.
Two men on base, first and second.
Pitcher's getting ready.
Two, try and.
Oh, I tried to get second base out.
Second base out.
Failed.
Once again.
So that seems to be their strategy.
Chargers are just staying pretty close to the bases at this point,
though definitely, um,
standing a little bit further out, but pitcher's really keeping an eye on it.
He's looking back at...
Yeah, he is. He's really... Pitches.
And another strike for Hillstale Chargers.
He, I think, really wants to bunt it.
He's holding the stick.
Yeah, number 11.
Yeah, number 11 is definitely trying to...
Yeah, yeah.
All right, getting ready.
Still keeping an eye on the first and second base runner's pitch.
and that is a ball.
So one ball, two strikes.
Zero outs on this third inning of the game.
Number 11, Copens is a freshman here at Hillsdale.
He is ready to bat again.
Yes.
Pitch and swing and a miss.
So third strike.
First out, though, of the inning for this time for the chargers.
So.
Oh, no, never would.
He's still up.
Okay. Interesting.
I'm not sure what happened there, to be honest.
But we're two strikes and one ball, so that's good.
Oh.
Oh, foul.
Fow ball.
Fow to right.
This is just hardly outside the line.
It was very close to me.
It was.
Okay.
Still, Ryan Copens, up to bat, number 11.
Still with two runners on first instance.
second base and Ohio Dominican Stephen Chapman still pitching I have
Dominican up one swing and a miss strike three that one actually is a
strike three he's going back all right number 26 Ryan Whitehe we he up to bat
runners at first and second base one out in this third inning against Ohio
Dominican. Chargers looking to even out the score. He hits it. Uh, third base gets hit and then
throws it to first. Third and first, but we have someone safe on second. First and, oh no, he's still
on. Oh, okay. No, no. Third was out, but first, even though they threw it to the first baseman,
the first was ruled safe. Okay. So we still have runners on first base and second base.
We're at two outs and it's number 14 Jake Figman up to bat here for the Hillsdale Chargers.
So, net result is still the same, but now we just have two outs instead of one.
So close to having loaded bases here.
Yeah, we were.
But the hit went a little bit straight to the third baseman and, you know, that's what happened sometimes.
Yeah.
All right, the umpire is talking to, the umps are talking.
talking to each other, I think talking about the call.
And it looks like they're keeping it the same.
All right.
Okay, number 14, up to bat for the Hillstale Chargers.
Two outs in the third inning against Ohio Dominican.
Pitchers getting ready.
We'll see if he's pitches.
And that is a ball.
One ball, zero strikes, two outs.
looking to even out the score against Ohio Dominican.
Pitcher, once again, keeping an eye on the stealing basin hits.
Oh, one ball.
It's like it was a ball.
Yeah, he hit it, but it's a strike.
Yeah.
A ball, one strike.
Two outs.
Ohio Dominican of one in the third inning.
All right, getting ready to pitch once again,
Once again, keeping an eye on the stealing base situation.
Brows and foul ball out into the left area.
Runners on first and second base.
And two strikes of ball.
See how this pitch goes.
Two outs right now.
So looking to even at the score and get a run.
Swing and miss for number four.
And that is the end of the third inning and into the fourth.

I'm Emily Shorty.
And I'm Megan Pitcock here at Linda Hill Stadium on this beautiful sunny day in March,
which is crazy.
Anyway, so Hillsdale is pitching in this fourth inning of the game.
Top of the fourth.
And number 12 for Ohio Dominican is up.
Trice Chafin.
He is their shortstop.
He is their shortstop.
So we saw him in some of the action last inning.
And the pitch.
And I think that was a strike.
Strike 1.
for Ohio Dominican pitch and that was definitely a ball it's very very wide so our pitcher is
prepped again and oh number 12 tried to bunt it but he missed it he missed it entirely got a little
little head of himself and started wanted to start running there but hadn't actually hit the ball
and the pitch and that's another ball so two balls and two strikes number 15 for hills
Chargers Jacob Paolo is our pitcher and he is prepping again the pitch and it's a line
drive to right field was caught by our outfielders number 18 caught that ball Billy
Perotsky from Cincinnati Ohio and we have it out for against Ohio
Dominican. All right. Let's see number 28. 28 is up to bat for how Dominican
Carson Willis pitch and a hit short hit to left field and he is oh out he's out yeah big
number 11 for for the chargers. Molen Copens he caught that and got out there
their player that's awesome so we've got two out.
Number 42 for the, for Ohio Dominican, Braden Reed is up to bat.
We've got two outs, so this could go pretty quickly.
The pitch.
That was a strike.
Yeah, that was in the strike zone.
Okay, strike.
Pitch.
That was a ball.
First ball, one strike.
And then we've got a throw and looks like another ball.
You know, two balls and a strike.
All right, number 12, still batting.
Trice Cavan for Ohio Dominican.
And I think that was another strike.
Nope, that was another ball.
Three balls and a strike.
And the pitch.
And it was a straight hit to outfield.
And he is safe on first.
All right.
Trice Chafin is safe on first for Ohio Dominican.
Up to bat, we've got number 29,
second basement for Ohio Dominican Grant Horn.
That ball went to the center outfielder,
thrown back in.
The pitch and hit ground ball to left field.
And safe on first.
But out on second.
So that's the third out.
All right. Well, here we are at Glenda Hill Stadium. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale

My name is Megan.
And my name is Emily.
And we are in Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium
watching the Charger baseball game against Ohio Dominican University.
So currently we are still in the...
Well, we're going into the fifth inning now, right?
Fourth inning?
Shoot.
No, no, no.
Yeah, no, we're in the fourth inning.
We're in the fourth inning.
The Hillsdale batting section of the fourth inning.
Yes.
And we were just talking to Luke Miller, who's up here.
He's actually on the team for the Chargers.
He's number 17, but he's not out today.
He's out for the season due to injury, I believe.
But he told us that Ohio Dominican has been pitching at 90 miles per hour generally.
And then Hillsdale's about 86 to 88 miles.
pounds per hour so pretty pretty hard that would hurt you hit that with that all right up to bat is
oh a pitch number 22 for hillsdale 23 oh sorry 23 Tyler Turner just missed that ball so as a strike
and the pitch from number 26 and it is a out to outfield but caught by number 29 for oh how
dominican grant horn so that's an out for hillsdale so
Now we've got Tyler Sowers, number 21, up for Hillsdale to pitch.
From Wheaton, Illinois, Ohio Dominican is up one.
Treasures have none.
But we're working on it.
And the pitch, I think that may have been a, no, that was a ball.
Ball against Ohio Dominican.
And the pitch is a low ball to left field, and they got him out.
Number 21 is out for Hillsdale, so we've got two out.
That was number 12 for O'Hadimnikin, Trice Chafin.
And then...
And then number 18 for Hillsdale, Billy Paraski is up to bat.
The fourth inning.
I've said.
Chargers up to bat, the pitch, and miss.
And that's a strike.
Yeah.
He rolled it as an attempt at hitting, I think.
Yeah, because he definitely tried to bunt that.
And the pitch and a miss.
So that was a ball.
So we got a ball and a strike.
And the pitch.
And a hit to left field low.
And, oh, it was very close.
One of the umpires ruling that one.
Oh, I think that wasn't out.
Third out.
Yeah, third out.
And the chargers are still down one from Ohio Dominican.

here. I used to think that baseball was a slow sport, but I don't think.
think it is anymore. No, it's bad. When you're trying to keep up with this. And the pitch, that was the
ball. So Hillsdale's pitching, and Ohio Dominican is up to bat number 15, Sam Battles. Top of the fifth
of seven. The pitch, and that was a strike. It was the ball. It was another ball. And the pitch.
That might have been another ball. Yeah, third ball.
Number 15 for Hillsdale is up, Jacob Pollo.
I mean for Ohio Dominican?
No, for our pitcher.
For our pitcher? Oh, they're both 15.
Sorry. I'm so sorry.
Yeah.
So that was a strike from, for Ohio Dominican.
Yeah, that's fair.
They're both number 15 right now.
And the pitch.
And I think that was a strike. I think that was in the strikes on. Yeah, two strikes, three balls.
Anything could happen.
Could walk, could get out. Let's see.
All right. And the pitch and a far, far drive to right field, but it was a foul, foul ball.
It looked like it could have, it almost was not a foul, but then it curved at the last second.
I don't know if that was the wind or just the curve of the ball. Definitely, the illusion was there.
I thought it was going to be in.
All right.
Two strikes, three balls and a foul.
Anything could still happen.
Anything could still happen.
15 to 15 right now.
All righty.
And we've got the pitch.
And it's a far drive to right field, but yeah, they caught it.
He'll still caught it.
Number 18, Billy Paratsky caught that ball for the first out of the inning.
All right.
Let's see for Ohio Dominican.
We have number one up to bat.
Mason Kurtz.
One out, top of the ninth.
Top of not the ninth.
Good grief.
Top of the fifth.
And the pitch.
And a ball.
I think I just always wanted to say top of the ninth.
I don't know why.
I don't know why I said that.
Pitch.
And I think that was another ball.
Well, if you call a game that has a ninth inning,
then you can say it.
I'll get to say it later.
Just not yet.
There's still hope.
And the pitch.
And a swing and a miss.
Strike one.
I like saying swinging a miss.
Swing in a miss.
I think that's fun.
It kind of rolls off the tongue.
You know, there's all this baseball terminology that we use daily but don't even realize it.
It's America's sport.
And the pitch.
And that was a fly ball to left field.
But caught by the Chargers.
Second out.
against Ohio Dominican Panthers.
Third baseman, number 33, Will Shermer.
Third baseman, number 33,
Will Shermer is up to bat for Ohio Dominican.
Still with number 15, Jacob Paulo as the Hillsdale pitcher.
And the pitch.
And I think that was a strike.
Strike one.
By the way, the one who caught the last ball was number nine, Aaron Jasek.
The pitch.
and hit.
That was a...
Oh, and number 33
is out for Ohio Dominican.
Now we have three outs
against Ohio Dominican, and we're moving on
into the second half of the fifth inning
with Chargers pitching.

Telling the stories of those who have been awarded
the Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor.
Here's Jenna Suhita.
On February 10th,
1970 near Fuaklong Vietnam, specialist John Baca was setting up an ambush with his unit.
When one of the tripwires detonated in the jungle ahead, a platoon was sent to investigate.
Soon they came under intense enemy fire from concealed positions along the trail.
As they prepared to engage the enemy, a fragmentation grenade was thrown in the midst of the patrol.
Baca said later at that moment he thought of his mother.
He called her only the day before, telling her that he was working in the post office,
safe from action on the front lines.
But with the lives of his friends hanging in the balance, Baca acted quickly.
With complete disregard for his own safety, Baca used his steel helmet and his own body to cover the grenade and absorb the lethal fragments.
His conspicuous gallantry at the risk of his own life directly saved the lives of eight men.
For the extraordinary courage and selflessness he displayed on February 10th, 1970, specialist John Baca was awarded the Medal of Honor.

stadium i don't get tired of saying that and it is still a beautiful day out here in hillsdale michigan you
know it's exciting because last time i went to a baseball game i didn't actually even get to stay for the
baseball game i went to see the the the gnats in um in dc oh yeah the nationals yeah and so
isn't that what they're called yeah yeah and it's a bummer because it was raining so i didn't
start till way later and i had to leave i was so disappointed all right
Right, number nine is up to bat for the Hillsdale Chargers, Aaron Jasek.
I think the last time I went to a baseball game, I went to the Cincinnati Reds.
Oh, nice.
And they lost.
Oh, bummer.
And the pitch, and the catcher missed it.
Threw back, and I think that was a ball.
It seemed kind of wide.
Yeah, that was a ball.
Swing and a miss.
Strike one.
All right, and the pitch
Swinging to miss
Strike two
Two strikes and a ball
Oh
Yeah
Two strikes, oh, it's a ball
Interesting
So he swung for it
No, that was two strikes
Okay, I was right the first time
That one was ball though
So we're at two balls and two strikes
Okay
I think the people working on the
On the board
Yeah, we're gonna rely a little bit on the board
And pitch and another ball.
Again, anything could happen.
Three balls, two strikes, two rounds.
Go, Aaron, go.
And the pitch from number 26.
And a hit, low ball to, oh, to the left field.
And he is safe on first.
And, yeah, the Ohio Dominican players in outfield tried to dive for it
and all just missed the ball.
I think that was number nine for Ohio Dominican, Mason Hess.
and then he dove for it, missed it, so it went further back.
That means we have a runner on first.
Yeah, a runner on first.
It's very good.
Another lefty up to bat here.
Number 16.
Guard, Swenson.
Oh, still staying on that stealing base.
The pitcher tried to throw it to their first baseman, or did throw it to their first basement again,
but did not achieve getting our man on first out.
Oh, it throws for him again.
Yeah, our man, I first really has to stay on his toes there because he could either be pitching or he could be throwing it over.
Yeah, that's Braden Reed.
I don't know how he's Dominican who's playing first base who pitchers.
Oh, and he did it again.
Oh, did he?
Was he?
Sounds like there are some annoyance from the crowd about whether he's.
Yeah, some murmuring.
over that one.
It did look pretty close, but I think he was, they ruled safe, so.
And a pitch and no hit.
We had number, number 16 still hitting.
Guards once in.
We've got a ball and the pitch and potentially another ball there.
Yeah, two balls.
No strikes.
Ohio Dominican is still up one, so we're looking to tie it for the Chargers.
It's not insurmountable there.
Only in the fifth inning right now.
Second half, fifth inning.
And the pitch.
And he hits it.
Oh, he dropped.
Pitcher dropped it.
He fumbled that ball.
He totally, he had gotten it.
He definitely could have gotten him out, but he missed it.
All right.
We've got a man on first and a man on second,
and number 32 is up to bat.
Rocco to Nuda.
Like I said, this kid, I was in theology with Rocco.
And he sat right behind me.
I think I was in that class that I smacked someone upside the head,
not because I was upset with them,
but because they had a bug on their head.
Wow.
All right.
Rocco, bunts the ball and runs to first.
Okay, first he got out on first.
But we got a man on second and third.
Number 11, Nolan Copens, is up to bat for the Hillsdale Chargers.
Looks like he got another lefty up there.
He is a freshman.
That's exciting.
Yeah.
I feel like it's a suspectually exciting for a freshman to be able to be on the first team.
Nobody on first, so there's no pressure for the second and third runners to actually run.
It seems to be too dangerous.
The pitch and so I think he's swung, but it looks like they're calling that one a ball.
I think he brought it back in time.
Yeah. And the pitch and a swing and a miss.
We've got a strike in a ball.
Only one out though right now.
Which is good, which is good for us because we do have two men on bases.
We got someone on second and third.
which I don't know if we've had someone.
We haven't had someone on third yet.
We were close, but we got out in the pitch and strike two.
Oh, that's helpful.
11's still up to bat for the Hillsdale Chargers with number 26 from Ohio Dominican still pitching and the pitch.
And a swing and a miss.
Three strikes.
No, I think he's.
Oh.
I think he must have hit it and that was a foul.
Oh, okay.
because he's still up to bat.
Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So that was a foul.
There have been a couple times where I think they've hit it and we haven't seen it.
Yeah, it's hard to tell.
And the pitch.
And that was another ball.
Two balls, two strikes.
One out.
The pitcher is still really keeping an eye on our guys, making sure they're not stealing.
Although there's nothing to steal right now.
Good point, good point.
And that was a fire drive out to right field.
Oh, he's trying to get into home.
And oh, safe. Number nine for Hillsdale Chargers.
Aaron Jasek made it home.
Got a man on third.
And I think...
Now that is a big catcher.
Number 26.
I think our first...
The man on first was also out.
He's out.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah, he got out.
We've got two outs, but we do have a man safe home.
And a man on third.
And number 26.
Ryan Wehey is up to bat
96 is the one who
Oh
I was 96 miles per hour
Yeah for that last one
Hit
We got the first pitch
And this is the second pitch
And
I've got a strike
Two strikes
Two strikes
Two strikes
No for that last play
When we got a man in
The pitch was 90
96 miles per hour
So we've got another pitch
And a swing
and it looks like a foul.
I think he hit it, but it went back.
It sounded like he hit it.
Yeah.
Which is a good move on his part
rather than just not swinging it at all
because at least on this last one,
it won't get you out.
We have a chance of getting one more guy on at least in the pitch,
and there was a ball, a ball and two strikes.
Man on third.
Looking to get him home.
Ohio Dominican pitches and a hit.
Can you get it in?
Oh, wait, I think we might have gotten a man safe.
No, I don't think it counted because they got him out.
Because they got him out.
Yeah, all right.
Which is why we thought that, oh, Ohio Dominican hit too, because that's happened,
that happened first or second.
That's such a bummer.
All righty, well, the Chargers and Ohio Dominican are tied now with two home runs here.
at the end of the fifth inning, and we're about to head into the sixth inning.
You're listening to Charger Baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group.
One year after the Louisiana purchase, President Thomas Jefferson commissioned Meriwether Lewis
and William Clark to lead an expedition to map America's newfound territories.
Beginning in 1803, their journey would take over two years and cover 8,000 miles.
Jefferson was hoping they'd discover a waterway to the Pacific Ocean, but none existed. Instead, what they found was a vast land bathed in splendor and rich with natural resources. Along the way, a young pregnant Shoshone woman named Sakajia joined their expedition and proved invaluable as a liaison with native tribes. History has made her almost as famous as Lewis and Clark themselves.

And we are commenting on the Charger Baseball game against Ohio Dominican University.
Again, beautiful day here in Hillsdale, Michigan at Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium.
And our team, our home team here, the Hillsdale Chargers, are a pitching.
while Ohio Dominican is up to bat at the top of the sixth inning.
Of seven, so at least we're tied.
At least we're tied.
That's a good sign.
And we've got the pitch and a swing and a miss for number 50 for Ohio Dominican.
Gavin Lawler.
We've got still our number 15, Jacob Hollow for the chargers up pitching.
And the pitch.
A swing and a fire drive to left field.
Oh, number 50 is running to second.
All right.
Got a double there.
And let's see.
Number 26 for Ohio Dominican is up to bat.
Stephen Chapman.
And then we have...
That last hit was 100 miles per hour that went out all the way out into the left field.
The pitch.
And a ball for Hillsdale.
and the pitch and oh that was a foul ball over the building that went all the way behind to the concrete
behind the building that we're in right now that ball's not coming back anytime soon there's a sign in
between that was like if you have a ball you can turn it in a concession in between if you want that's so
funny and the pitch and that was a foul ball to left field
You know, it's really interesting during World War II, they actually had these bombs that they made to kind of be the same shape and size as a baseball because it's America's sport.
And so they knew people knew how to throw these.
And so it was a way for them to do that.
That's so interesting.
Yeah.
All right.
Oh.
Oh.
Hey.
Okay.
Our pitcher threw it back to get out there second, their man on second because he was trying to steal base.
And I think they just got him.
Yeah.
That's a first out.
They were excited about that one.
Gosh, it's so funny that O'Hard Dominican has been trying so hard to get people out when they're creeping off of their base and we're the ones who did it.
On the first try.
And, oh, that's a foul ball.
Another one hitting the concrete behind us.
Two strikes.
Two strikes and a ball.
That was a good play to the Hillsdale shortstop.
And the pitch.
And a swing and a miss.
Three strikes and an out.
Ohio, Dominican.
Up to bat is number 12.
Trice chafin.
The Hillsdale shortstop is number nine, Aaron Jasek.
We've got the pitch.
And I thought it was a little wide.
I think there might be a ball.
Yeah, it's a ball.
And then sway the...
All right, we got another pitch,
but that was also another ball.
Currently nobody's on base.
We're in still the top of the sixth inning
with Ohio Dominican up to bat
and the Hillsdale Chargers pitching
one to one. We're still even in our runs.
And the pitch and a swing and a miss.
Strike one. That is really satisfying to say.
It's so satisfying to say.
It is. The pitch.
And it's a foul ball yet again in the concrete.
technical term guys the super technical they should they should make it one yeah two strikes two balls two outs triple twos
tie between ohio dominican and the hill still chargers in the sixth inning and the pitch three strikes and
out third out for ohio dominican and we are headed into the second half of the sixth inning that was a strikeout by our
picture on the Hillsdale Chargers, which is exciting.
And now we're into the second part of the sixth inning, which is so exciting.
So Megan and I actually did something a little impulsive yesterday as we were prepping for this game.
We were like, hmm, we should take a little trip to the Hillsdale College bookstore
and see if they have any charger paraphernalia that's like for baseball specifically.
We walked in. We're like, it probably isn't open. I mean, and then it was open and we walked in and we're like, hmm, maybe we should buy some t-shirts.
And when we hold, we both are wearing Hillsdale College baseball t-shirts, which we got yesterday.
Yes, yes.
Perhaps an impulse buy, but one that I don't regret.
So I don't know how obvious it is, but neither of us are super proficient in baseball.
Well, this is the first time we've ever called a game.
Yes, we've never called a game before.
So we're both, you know, learning here a little bit.
But also it's definitely, it's not, it's not my first sport of, of not, like, it's not the one that I'm most knowledgeable about.
I don't know.
How about you?
I mean, I feel like you get pretty familiar with baseball turns because, like we already sort of mentioned, it is America's sport.
So, like, you know sort of some of the terminology.
And I played, I played softball, like, way back in the day.
But, yeah, no, I think that this is.
I definitely, there are sports that I would want to call less because I know a lot less about them, namely like football, but I definitely don't know the most about baseball.
So it's been a learning experience for sure.
You know who we were talking about?
Like there's the terminology that we all use.
I was thinking about something this morning and I was thinking like, oh, yeah, I was totally outing myself about that.
And they realized, oh, that's actually a baseball term.
Oh, yeah, you're right.
You're like, yeah.
It's very interesting.
All right.
The chargers are up to bat.
this pitch oh and that was a ball number 14 is up for hillsdale to bat jake figman who's an outfielder
from florida and the pitch i think that was a strike seemed like it was in the strikes no it was
no it was another ball we've got the pitch that was that was definitely a ball three balls three balls
no strikes this is good for hillsdale i don't think we've seen that
yet in this game.
Yeah.
It's a tie between Hillsdale and Ohio, Dominican.
Pitch and strike one.
I think that was a strike, yeah.
We're in the bottom of the sixth with Chargers up to bat.
Number 14 is still waiting to see if he's going to get a good pitch here.
On the pitch.
And I think that was another strike.
Strike two, three balls, anybody's game.
And the pitch.
And a hit.
It was a low ball to center field.
And our players safe.
Number 14 for the Chargers made in first base.
And now we have number 23, Tyler,
Turner up to bat.
Ready, let's see.
So we've got our pitcher,
or the Ohio Dominican picture.
Are we going to play the game again?
Yeah, let's see.
Is he going to keep going to, yeah.
He's going to keep trying to get that man off of first base.
Let's see.
And the pitch.
pitch and a bunch to.
Oh, that was really close.
That was really risky.
Yeah.
First basement is out, but we got, or first man.
Our pitcher just got out.
Sorry, not our pitcher.
Pitcher just got the runner out.
Yes.
And then we got a man on second.
So we won out in this.
Tyler Sowers, number 21, is up to bat for the Hillsdale Chargers.
The second half of the six inning at the Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium.
On this beautiful sunny day in Michigan.
That seems like an oxymoron.
And the pitch.
And that looks like it was a strike.
Strike against 21.
All right.
Just keeping an eye on that second.
Yeah.
I think the pitcher, part of the pitcher's little.
And the pitch.
Oh, and a low ball.
It looks like.
Oh.
Second out against Hillsdale.
21 did not quite make it to first base.
We still got the man on second.
Yes.
The man on second chose not to go to third, which was probably the right choice because that's about where the ball was.
Yeah. Number 18, Billy Parodsky is on for batting.
All right. Keep an eye on that man on second.
And the pitch.
Strike. Strike one.
Two outs.
Tide game, though.
Tide game, yeah.
I agree.
It feels more.
fast-paced when you're calling it.
Yeah, and the pitch.
I think that...
Ooh, stealing third. Did he get it?
Oh.
Was he safe?
I think he was...
He was safe.
Whoa.
Okay.
My eyes fail me here because we definitely
have a man safe on third now.
He stole it.
We've got a ball
and a strike.
So he just needs to hit the ball and not get out,
which is a goal.
That would be good. And the pitch?
and it was a ball, it's a ball.
Two balls and a strike with a man on third.
The bottom of the sixth.
Now I understand the whole like top of the sixth, bottom of the sixth thing.
That makes sense to me now.
And the pitch from 26 and I was a ball.
Three balls, one strike.
Okay.
It's possible we get a walk here.
And the pitch.
And, oh, rounder to right field, and he is safe on first, and we got a man home.
We're up by one now.
Up by one.
Yes.
We've got number 19, Aaron Jasek up to bat.
Hillsville Chargers are up one run in the bottom of the six.
With a man on first.
The man on first.
Two outs.
But we only have one inning left after this.
It's true.
So this looks good.
This is good.
This is good sidebrose.
us. Oh, pitcher tried to get our man on first out yet again. He likes doing that.
All right. Then we've got the pitch and strike one. Strike one for number nine.
All right, let's see. Is he going to go for our man on first?
Trying to figure out what his tell is for when he's going to end the pitch. Oh, no. Oh, okay.
Right, we've got a man on...
No, he hit him.
Okay.
He didn't hit him, but he got him out.
Yeah, he was so close to getting to second base.
And then didn't quite make it.
I thought there was a bit of a fumble of the ball, but I think he got hit with the ball.
Risky move, but we're up by one at this point.
You're up, yes.
Going into the seventh inning.
Yeah, so this is really exciting for the Chargers.

And we're back with Charger Baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM,
and we are in the seventh inning.
I believe this is the last one, right?
Yes.
I don't know if at this point there are issues with tying the game.
Well, we'll see you, I guess.
because currently the charges are up one and they are we are up to pitch while how
Dominican is up to bat in the top of the seventh number 28 for Ohio
Dominican Carson Willis is up to bat you beat the announcer guy I did beat the
announcer guy I'm so proud of myself I'm starting to get the hang of this I just got a
whiff of turf I'm not very much nostalgic for when I used to play sports and
And the pitch and I think it was a strike.
One strike against 28.
And we've got the pitch.
I think that was a, oh, second strike.
Strike two for Ohio Dominican.
We've got the third pitch.
And I think that was a ball.
One ball, two strikes.
Zero out to top of the seventh.
I'm not actually sure how many people even listen to this game.
I'm really curious, actually.
Yeah, me too.
The pitch.
And ball two, two strikes.
I know it'll be up after the fact on transistor.
Oh, dear.
Where you can find everything else that we do at Radio Free Hillsdale,
101.7 FM if you wanted to check that out.
And the pitch.
And a swing and a miss.
Drake 3 and an out for Ohio Dominican University.
Yes.
Yeah, Megan is right.
We have all sorts of content for redo Free Hillsdale.
Actually, both of us have shows, right?
I have a show.
You have a show.
I have two features, and then I edit and produce a show.
Yeah.
What are your features?
A letter of the law, which is like two minutes on weird laws that exist.
And then what's in a name, which is,
names of explanations of names of places oh that's really interesting yeah we got a pitch and i think
that was a strike 40 oh that was a ball against 42 for oh god dominican braden reed hillsdale's pitching
oh how jimineken's up to bat the top of the seventh do we have a different pitcher now 37
37 yeah we do pitch that was strike jock is up pitching right now i bet i bet our former
Number 15, Jacob Paula, is a little tired.
He's been throwing some really fast balls here.
Yeah.
We got a ball and a strike.
And the pitch from Josh Novak and a ball.
Second ball, one strike.
And we've got the pitch.
Josh Novak is a red shirt sophomore,
which means he's a junior academically,
but is in his second year of eligibility.
Okay.
We've got a third ball.
One strike.
And we've got the pitch
And a foul ball to write
It's a second strike
Three balls, two strikes
Anyone's game, as we've been saying?
Yeah, anything can happen.
Anything can happen.
We're ready.
But ultimately, like, no pressure
because there's nobody on basis.
True.
Well, some pressure because we want him out.
But, well, I mean against, I mean.
You know, no, no, I know what you're saying.
I know what you're saying.
And a swing and a miss.
Strike three and an out.
Second out for Ohio Dominican Panthers.
Strike out.
You know, I don't know.
I don't know what this is.
For me, my tendency is not to call the teams by their, like, mascot name, usually.
I usually, like, call them by their college name, which is so interesting.
I don't know.
Yeah.
If that's just.
The Panthers versus the Chargers.
Yeah.
Two animals.
Yeah.
Number zero, Garrett.
No, number zero up.
Garrett Roach, 4-Ohad Dominican, is batting.
Top of the seventh.
With two out.
And the pitch.
And a hit.
It looked like he might have caught it, but.
Oh, no.
He made it safe to first because our first baseman, number 11, missed the
catch. It's okay. Still two outs. Man on first. Maybe we'll get him. Try to steal. Maybe. All right. Yeah, we could.
Number 15 for Ohio Dominican, Sam Battles is up. That's a fun last name. That is a fun last name.
He's their catcher. Or one of their catchers. See, being a catcher sounds really challenging to me
because you're like squatting down the whole time. Think that my knees might die.
It looks like they're replacing their first base runner with number four.
Replacing Sam Battles.
Number four is Tristan Sherman.
Not replacing Sand Battles.
Sand Battles is up to bat.
Oh, San Battles is up to bat.
You're right.
And the pitch.
Oh, and a far drive to right field.
Man on second.
Man, safe on first.
Oh, how Dominican makes it to third.
Oh, thinks about running home, but decides it's not worth it.
So number four for a how Dominican is on third, and Sam Battles, number 15 is on first for a Howard Dominican.
An empire is talking to the Howard Dominican coach, it looks like, here.
Might be doing just the changeover of players.
Oh.
Oh.
Pinchering for Pantors number 16, Jack Wells.
Pinch hitting?
Is this like a...
Timeout.
Situation?
Let's see.
It looks like they're having a little convention there on the mound for the Chargers.
Well, that's okay.
I guess we'll find out what's going on here soon.
Anyway, well, Megan, I have a question for you.
What's that?
What's the difference?
between a pickpocket and an umpire.
What? One steals watches and one watches steals.
Wow.
That wasn't funny, was it?
Not really.
Where do catchers sit at lunch?
Where?
Behind the plate.
Technically true.
You know, it is unfortunate that I can see the punchline as you're reading it off.
Don't look at it.
Let's see.
Oh, all right, it looks like we are back.
You're saved.
Emily's bad chance.
I tried to ask my brothers for some good jokes, but they didn't respond.
So I had to deal with.
All right.
And the pitch and a ball.
Who's up to bat here?
I can't quite see their number.
He's a lefty.
First lefty of Ohio Dominican.
And pitch.
And a ball.
Two ball.
It's number 16 for Ohio Dominican.
Jack Wells.
I think he's pitched before or hit before.
Well, still up to bat and the pitch and a swing and I think he tipped it, but it was a strike.
It would be very good for the chargers if the pitcher could strike him out.
Yeah, because we have two outs for Ohio Dominican.
A man on first and a man on third.
Yeah.
We don't want to tie this one up.
That's another ball.
Let's see, number 37 for Hillsdale.
Let's see what we can do.
We've got a third ball, one.
strike. You really does not want to give him an opportunity to walk.
And the pitch. And the third, third ball. So a walk for number 16, Ohio Dominican.
Bases are loaded for Ohio. Hey, you got to say that one. Yeah. And number 33 for Ohio
Dominican is up. Will Shermer. Looks like the coach, Ohio Dominican coach is speaking with the umpire.
I don't know.
I'm going to have to pull out those jokes again?
We'll survive if you do.
Did you hear the joke about the pop fly?
No, what is it?
Forget it. It's way over your head.
Actually, I do like that one.
I thought that was funny.
Actually, that one's accurate.
They've been sending a lot of those overhead.
Okay.
All right, 33 is up to bat with number 37 for Hillsdale.
Josh Novak still pitching.
It looks like we have a,
tap out between runners here.
Oh, number 15 is being replaced with number 27 to run
for Ohio Dominican.
Faces are loaded, top of the seventh, and the pitch.
He's really thinking about this one.
Lots of yelling from the crowd here.
The pitch.
And, oh, a low ball to right field and got a man home on third.
I think he's safe.
Oh, yeah.
Howe Domenican got a man home and the bases are yet again loaded.
Our Hillsdale Chargers missed the catch to first base.
Tried to get the third base out and did not succeed as well.
There's some scrambling there, but they made it back to bases.
So now we have number 50 up for Howe Dominican pit up for the,
for the bat.
Two out spaces loaded, top of the seventh.
And the pitch.
Let's see, we swing that enough to count as a strike.
Looks like the umpires calling that as a ball.
He's chatting with the catcher here.
I can't tell if he's like, are you okay?
Or if it's like they're talking.
Yeah, it looks like he's talking back and forth with the dugout.
One ball, zero strikes for a number 50.
for Ohio Dominican.
We're tied again.
We're tied again.
Top of the seventh and the pitch.
And a strike.
First strike.
See if you can get him striked out, then we have an opportunity, hopefully, just to tie up the game
and maybe draw ahead in the last half of the seventh inning.
And we've got the pitch.
And swing.
Slike.
Yep, we got a second strike.
for number 50 for Ohio Dominican.
All right.
Let's see if Josh Novak can get this guy out.
It would be good for Hillsdale here.
It would be.
And we've got the pitch.
And a swing and a miss.
Third strike, third out for Ohio Dominican.
This is good for the charges as we head in the bottom of the seventh inning here.
Yes.
So, sounds like maybe things are getting a little exciting for the fans.
I don't know.
Yeah, lots of chatter.
Subbing out people for runners.
Yeah, all right.
Looks like we're going to take a little break right before we get here.
So you're listening to Chargers baseball and Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.

And we're back on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. My name is Megyn Pitcock.
My name is Emily Schoty here in Lenda and Glenda Hillsdale. I keep saying Hillsdale.
because we're in Hillsdale, but it's Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium.
There you go.
It's a little hard to say.
No, I get it.
Especially when it's Hill S Stadium and it's like Hill S stadium.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, uh, slip, slip of the tongue there.
But we are here in the sunny stadium watching baseball in America's sport.
And we are at the bottom of the seventh with Ohio Dominican pitching and Hillsdale
batting. So currently
Ohio Dominican is up one.
So we've got there. No, no, no, we're tied.
Oh, are we not tied?
I thought they were up one.
We'll see in a second.
We'll see in a second. This star score records out.
What are we doing so well? We're doing so great.
So we have a chance. We have a chance here
to come out with either a tie or a win.
I think I'm rooting for a win here. I think we have a good chance.
So we've got number nine, Aaron Jasek, up to bat for Hillsdale.
Oh, you're right. We are in deep tide. I'm so silly.
It's okay.
Ohio Dominican had a pretty good first half of the inning here.
Hopefully the chargers can come back and take the easy, not an easy win.
Take the win.
I feel like baseball is slow till it's not.
That's the issue.
Okay, Ohio Dominican has a new pitcher out right now.
Number 45 pitches.
And it was a strike.
Number 45 for Ohio Dominican is Jeremy Ramirez.
So I wonder if that will change their strategy when we get someone on base.
Oh, yeah.
Is he going to be as militaristic about that?
And the ball with that pitch, one ball, one strike.
Yeah, they seem to be staying on that quite a bit to try to stop the steals.
So I'm curious if he's as much on top of that as number 15 was.
And the pitch.
And a strike two for chargers.
Or against the chargers.
And the pitch.
And swinging a miss.
Strike three and out for the chargers.
It's not an auspicious start to the.
Last half of the seventh inning.
Number 16, Guard Swenson is up to bat for the Chargers.
It's one of our lefties.
I always wonder whether it makes it a challenge for someone who's a righty pitching to pitch for a lefty batter.
The pitch and a strike.
And the pitch.
That looked a little wide.
to think that might be a ball.
Yeah, one ball, one strike.
One out on this seventh inning.
You know, I feel like the six and seventh innings,
this six and seventh innings have gone a lot slower than the first.
Yeah, first three.
Yeah, three or four were really fast on the pitch and a hit.
Oh, can you make it first?
That was a low drive ball to right field and they got him out pretty quickly.
So up next is Rocco Tanuta, number 32, for the hill.
still chargers and batting.
Let's see how this goes.
Rocco has had a little bit of a tough track record so far.
He's gotten out a couple times.
We'll see how this one goes for him.
And the pitch.
I was pretty close to him.
I feel like that might...
Oh, it wasn't a strike.
Okay.
You got the pitch.
And that was a little wide.
Yeah.
One ball, one strike.
No one on base right now for the charger.
Unfortunately, we've got two out, so we'll see if Rocco can bring us out of that.
And if we go into an eighth inning.
And a pitch, and a second ball.
I noticed Tuna just made a little son of the cross there.
I know he's Catholic, see him at Mass sometimes, so I think he's set a little prayer there before this next bat.
Yeah.
And the pitch.
Strike two.
Strike two.
That's a tough one.
It's two, two.
right now.
Purple two strikes, two outs.
And it's two to two to two.
Two to two.
We've got the pitch.
And oh, third strike.
Third strike, third out for Hillsdale.
So we've got a tie here at the end of the seventh inning.
So I think that may be taking us into an eighth inning.
Maybe you will say top of the night.
So maybe I will get to say top of the ninth.
Yeah, this is exciting.
Exciting to see that, like, we still have an opportunity to pull it back out.
Hillsdale is so far, this game, the Chargers have had eight hits, two runs,
and the Panthers have had four hits in two runs.
Yeah.
I'm starting top of eight, 37, pitching again for the Hill Hill Chargers.
That is Josh Novak, who is, once again, a redshirt sophomore.
which I did not know is the term for that until right now.
Wait, remind me what that means again.
That means that he is technically a junior, academically, so in his third year of school,
but second year in his eligibility.
Okay.
Yeah, because I've talked to a couple of my friends in sports,
and they've talked about, like, a lot of times they'll do a fifth year
because they're eligible for sports and also because sports keep them so busy,
but also academics keep them so busy,
it kind of helps them space that out so they can.
do well both academically and in the sport and you know i think that's really paying off for our hillsdale
charger athletes because our um the charger student athletes posted a 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
across all sports during the 2025 fall semester which is very good for an athletic department
yes especially because i mean hillsdale is pretty rigorous we're definitely a a student focused
school. Yeah.
So that's impressive.
So athletics definitely is
really important, but trying to balance that with
academics is a challenge. So I'm really
proud of our athletes for
maintaining that.
All right. And we have
Top of the 8th Ohio Dominican at Bat.
There's a runner.
What?
Oh, interesting.
How do we?
Well,
You know what? We may have missed something there.
I don't know.
I don't think we do know.
How do we already have someone on second?
So, Ohio Dominican has a runner on second.
Is this like a sudden death?
I don't know.
See, this is when our lack of knowledge on baseball is really showing itself.
Well, for all of you that actually do know something, we have a runner on second.
And we have one ball for Ohio Dominican University.
Zero outs.
Zero outs for them.
Top of the eighth.
With Hillsdale pitching.
Oh, it was meant to be seven inning game.
Yeah.
So number 26, Stephen Chapman for Ohio Dominican is up to bat with one strike, and we've got a ball.
And we've got the pitch.
Getting ready here.
And, oh, fly ball.
Can he catch it and get him out?
Yes.
It looks like he, yeah, we got a catch in and out for, against a.
26 for Ohio Dominican.
So that's one out and we have
number 12 up to bat
Trice Chafin for Ohio
Dominican. Runner on second base.
Which we still don't know how that happened. You know, maybe we'll figure
that out someday but that's okay.
I'll Google it in between.
Maybe I got caught up too much in talking about Hillsdale
academics and just missed it. And the pitch and oh we got
a foul ball far over into the country.
concrete. Although that might have hit the net actually. Oh, you might be right. Our viewing is a little,
a little, um, we can't really see the right field. We're a little limited from our little booth here
at Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium. But it's nice because it's a little warmer than outside.
This is true. All right. 37 Josh Novak to pitch. Oh, he almost goes back to get the,
get the man on second out for, keep an eye on.
Trying to steal base.
Yes.
Let's go.
Number 37 pitching for Hillsdale.
And the pitch.
And swinging a miss.
Two strikes.
The second baseman is really keeping an eye on the happenings at second base.
Yeah, because Gavin Lawler, number 50 for Ohio Dominican is sitting out there right now.
Still trying to steal third.
Second baseman, getting closer to the second base.
We've got the pitch.
Oh, five.
Wow.
Now we went back into the net here.
Oh, I actually just realized that there is in fact a net right there.
That's so nice.
It's probably good because we are right behind the pitcher, so that kind of makes sense.
Although I think for us it just cracked the window.
Yeah.
If it were to hit a fan, that would be more painful.
That would be bad.
Because these are pretty fast balls, like we said, in the pitch.
And it hit.
That was a nice contact with the ball straight.
And he's out.
All right.
That was an out again.
Still have Dominican number 12.
It was a nice hit, though.
It made a nice crack on the bat.
It was a nice line drive ball.
Hopefully you can hear that through our...
Yeah, that was a nice crack.
As far as like sound bite audio goes,
that is what it just sounds like.
I'm always looking for the soundbites to sound like sports things.
And I'm like, that does not sound like that at all.
Yeah, that's true.
You are our productions director, so you do all the promotions for things.
I want it to sound accurate.
We got a pitch and a strike.
Oh, a ball for against our pitcher.
So 28 for Ohio Dominican.
Carson Willis is up to bat.
So I got a man on second.
Man on second.
Top of the eighth.
Tide game with two outs against Ohio Dominican right now.
And the pitch.
Swing and a miss.
Strike one.
Have the urge to, you know, the Ferris people are.
Hey, you better, bad, better, swing.
Better.
You ever seen High School Musical 2?
Yes.
Hey, better, hey, better, swing.
I got to just do my thing.
I love that movie, actually.
Yeah, no, it's a great movie.
Tune in to Hillstil, Churchill's Baseball, to hear us sing.
Sing show features from High School Musical 2.
Better than the originals.
Actually, I don't know.
The pitch.
And, oh, that is a very far drive to foul ball to right.
Into the practice area.
It looks like they just hit the building over there.
Oh, well, it's fine.
It's just the baseball.
It wasn't that ball we were talking about earlier.
I was going to say that.
Read my mind.
All right.
28 still up to bat, Carson Willis,
for Ohio Dominican with two strikes.
We got one ball and two outs.
It's a pitch.
Oh, a foul ball into the concrete.
Did that go over the net?
That definitely went over the building.
Well, they're definitely getting power on it.
It's just not going in the right direction for what they want.
Number 37 pitching for Hillstill.
Josh Novak, tied 2-2, Panthers and Chargers.
Top of the eighth because we didn't quite make it in the seventh.
So that's okay.
It's good.
It's good.
the book kept going and the pitch and a line drive to center field and safe on first and he's
going to slide day oh and we got 50 54 Ohio Dominican made it home all right that puts Ohio
Dominican up one in the top of the eighth with two outs up to bat we have number two
Logan Brockman for Ohio Dominican
I think this might be the first time that he has hit
for the day
okay so I just looked up the second
person on base starting apparently it's an MLB thing
to make overtime go faster
oh interesting so we'll start with the pitch
and strike one
that's interesting I guess that makes sense
because like after after you made it through the original
or like the initial seven innings to kind of move things along.
And we've got the pitch and a swing and a miss, strike two.
For number two, Logan Brockman on Ohio Dominican, the Panthers.
It's kind of cool because their logo is a D but with like the Panther claws coming off a bit.
Yeah, clever.
Clever, yes.
And we've got the pitch.
Oh.
I think that was a
I think that was a ball
but then we also
they know how Dominican got their
man on first to second
he stole base
so it looks like
Josh Novak
number 37 for Hillsdale's not keeping as much of an eye
on the stealing base as of some of our former
pitchers or especially not as much as Ohio Dominican
we're at one ball two strikes and two outs
and the pitch
and a strike
I believe no
Oh, dang.
Two balls, two strikes, two outs.
I don't know how to say that on there, right?
What?
Dang.
Yeah.
Yeah, okay, cool.
I was chill, right?
Yes, that's fine.
As far as I know, that's good to go.
If I get a call from Scott later, I'll know it.
And the pitch.
Oh, I think that was a third ball.
Three balls, two strikes.
Yeah, shout out.
Scott Bertram.
Yes, we love him.
He is our faculty advisor for the radio station.
And he is kind of enough to let people like Megan and myself who don't necessarily know anything about baseball, at least a little bit now.
Do something like this.
What a cool opportunity.
True.
And the pitch.
And a line drive to left field.
And he is out.
Number two is out.
Third out.
So into the second half of the eighth inning.
Second half of the eighth.
where the Chargers have the chance to tie it up once again and maybe even pull out a win.
Yeah, yeah, because it's, you know, it's only one ahead. That's not the worst thing in the world.
Like, you can definitely come back from one, but we'll see how our hitters do.
But anyway, you're listening to Charger Baseball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
You're listening to What's in a Name on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Today we'll be taking a trip to one of the most famous cities in the world.
New York, New York.
Its origins start back in 1624 when a group of Dutch colonists settled on Manhattan Island,
founding what came to be known as New Amsterdam.
When the British gained control of the area in 1664,
King Charles I gave the lands to his brother, the Duke of York,
temporarily changing the city's name to New York.
This became its permanent title in 1674,
a full century before the founding of the United States.
Another nickname you may have heard,
for the city is the Big Apple. This was popularized in the 1920s by horse racing journalist
John J. Fitzgerald. Jazz musicians also started using the term further spreading the name in the late
1920s and 30s. It slowly died out but was brought back in tourist campaigns in the 1970s, solidifying its
place as the Big Apple. This is what's in a name. My name is Megan Pitcock and you're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale
101.1.7 FM. You're back on listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.1.1. You're back on listening to Radio Free
Hillsdale 101.7 FM. My name is Megan Pitcock. My name is Emily Shody, and we are here at the
baseball game at Lenda and Glenda Hill Stadium with the game of Hillsdale College Chargers against Ohio
Dominican University Panthers. And currently, we are in the bottom of the eighth with Hillsdale up to
bat, and Ohio Dominican is up one. So let's see what we can do to pull out the win here. Number 11,
Nolan Copens for Hillsdale is up to bat. It's one of our lefties.
Number 45.
Lefties represent.
What is it like being a lefty, Megan?
It makes, it actually does.
It does pose as an inconvenience sometimes, but it built character.
Yeah, yeah.
Number 45 for Ohio Dominican is pitching again.
Oh, and the pitch.
And a strike.
Strike one.
What do you mean it's an inconvenience to be a lefty?
Well, we live in a right.
candid world.
Yeah.
I actually have a lot of opinions about this.
And the pitch and
number.
Ball.
Lose that on base for Hillsdale.
Rocco Tenoido, it looks like.
Yeah.
Once again, trying to steal a third
and hopefully tie it up here.
Got a strike and a ball
and keeping an eye on
that second baseman.
And the pitch.
And strike
two.
Because like at dinners and stuff, if you're sitting next to someone and you're lefty and you're sitting next to a right-in person, you like bump elbows.
There's never any left-handed desks.
There's not left-handed scissors.
There's not left-handed, like, anything really.
And the pitch and a foul ball.
But it's very helpful in sports.
Yeah, I guess it can give you a leg up if you're a lefty in sports because not everybody necessarily knows how to deal with that.
Yeah, I know for soccer it's helpful because if you can shoot left with your left foot, not everybody expects that.
Yeah, I played lacrosse in high school, and it was very helpful in that way because I was very good at what they say, rolling the crease as a lefty.
And that was strike three for Hillsdale, swing and a miss.
All right, one out for Hillsdale in the bottom of the eighth, still with Ohio's Minnican University up one.
Now we have 25
Carson Tucker
From Murray Kentucky
Up to Bat for Hillsdale
It looks like
How Dominican's coach
Is calling a meeting on the mound
Their turn for the powwow
What is it called a powwow?
Is it called like
Congregation?
You know like the crow
Like when crows are in a group
It's called a murder of crows
I did know that actually
It's really cool
It's kind of fun
What is it when it's a group of men?
on the baseball amount.
A convention.
No, this feels like the start of a joke.
One of the jokes that you're saying earlier.
I swear, I don't have a punchline for this one, but the convention is over now.
The convention is over.
All right.
Okay.
We're almost back.
Number 25, Carson Tucker from Marie Kentucky, is up to bat.
25 is a good number.
I like that number.
It is a good number.
All right.
Hopefully getting our second baseman up, or second base runner up to third.
so we can tie it up once again.
Yeah, because we've got one out already.
So, oh, that looked like a ball.
It's a ball.
Yeah, that was very close to our batter.
Number 32, Tanuda is still trying to steal that base for Hillsdale.
Pitcher checking back to play.
Making sure.
And the pitch.
And that looked like a strike.
It was a ball.
Oh, it was a ball.
Okay.
Which shows what I know.
Two balls, zero strikes for Hill.
Hillsdale number 25 third ball that would be nice we got a walk this could be this could be a walk
our Dominican pitches still keeping an eye on our man on second and he and a walk for hill
still like a second time that's happened this game yeah yeah we we've had a lot of close calls
but number 14 Jake figman is up to bat now the man on first and a man on second looking to take it home
Got a good chance here.
Looks like 25 who just hit Carson Tucker, just got on first name, is switching out with number 15.
Jacob Palo, who's from Grand Rapids for a better chance of getting a running.
Yeah, yeah.
They put their better runners, I guess, up on those bases.
Number 45, Ohio Dominican still pitching.
Strike 1 for Figman.
Okay.
And keeping an eye on those bases.
making sure people aren't stealing and the pitch and it's like a ball ball one ball one strike
although our first baseman can't steal until the second one gets to third good point but yeah I
think that's why he's keeping an eye mostly on just the second baseman there and the pitch oh
oh still keep an eye on there the second baseman's shuffling out there the second baseman shuffling over
that looked like a ball two balls and a strike
Danuta still on second and Tucker no Whitfield is on first base for Hillsdale and the pitch strike two
two two and one one out this inning so far or this bottom of the eighth with Hillsdale up to bat number 14 Jake figman and the pitch oh and there was a
bow ball to right.
Yeah.
Tanita really wants that third base.
He's working on it.
Yeah.
For sure.
Let's see if we can get this.
Get this one.
Can load the bases up.
And the pitch.
Swing and a miss.
Two strikes and now we have two outs.
Tenuda's still on second.
And then Dylan
Whitfield is on first.
He took Jake Figman's place, I think.
I think Figman was there. No. There's Carson Tucker was there originally.
Okay, still looking to get a tie.
Tying up for the pitch.
And a strike. Strike one.
Still have a chance here, but it's not looking too great.
So we have two outs and how Jiminikin is still one run.
head for for now number 23 still doesn't swing but it turns out to be a ball so tyler turner
number 23 for hillsdale is still in running here runners on first and second base is that what that means
still in the running no that's a that's a political term never mind like yeah i don't i don't know maybe
and the pitch and i think that was strike two it's a good feature idea though baseball terms or
sports terms generally.
Sports terms that are used in common,
common conversation.
I'm going to get in the pitch.
And strike three.
Oh, that's a bummer.
It's a loss for...
Hyo Dominican takes it.
Yeah, Ohio Dominican wins.
They won by one in the eighth inning
with a loss for the Hillsdale Chargers.
What a bummer.
Yes, but they have one more game
that they are playing today,
which we will not be covering, but...
Unfortunately.
Yes.
But hopefully if you guys run out to the stadium, you can watch them for yourself here at Linda and Glenda Hill Stadium,
because as we've been saying, it is a beautiful day here in Sunny Hillsdale, Michigan to enjoy a baseball game.
Yeah, tough loss for the Chargers, but hopefully they'll come back and win it the next one.
