The following is a special presentation of WRFH Sports.
We're listening to Radio Free Hill Trail 101.7 FM Charger Baseball.
We are live here at Linda and Glenda Field for the first home doubleheader
for the chargers facing Thomas Moore for the second day in a row.
Indeed.
It's going to be a good day.
A little cloudy here.
We have a little sprinkles in the first few winnings.
But overall, just looking forward to a good game.
between these two squads.
Yeah, it should be a fun one last night, and in the evening,
the Chargers played Thomas Moore in a double-hutter as well.
Both games, seven innings, and the first one, the Chargers took 15 to nothing.
A blowout victory looked good.
Second game, not so well.
In a tough loss, 2-1, which at the end of that game, it came down to,
they had ducks on the pond and they couldn't bring them home.
Yeah, I mean, that out at third base, Will Millard, after scoring the first runner to make
the two to one game caught at third base on a ground ball.
You know, I think he was a little bit shocked to see that ball thrown on the third base there.
And for him to get caught, I mean, you know, is that base running discipline on him on his part?
Or is that just a great play by the defense?
Either way, that's just a shocking way to end the game,
especially after such a dominant performance in the first game.
Yeah, for sure.
And on the mound, today we will have Jackson Grimmelsman,
the senior 6-2-205 lefty from Ohio for Thomas Moore.
for your chargers, Jacob Paiio.
Yeah, very similar pitchers right now, at least in terms of ERA,
both hovering around that six mark.
Grimmel's been a little bit higher.
You know, both, you know, on the losing side right now,
Grimmel's been 02 with his record right now.
And for Jacob, he's rocking a one of three start to start the year.
Yeah, Paulo is a 6-3 sophomore from Grand Rapids.
We'll take you to a quick break here for the National Anthem.
us on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM Charger Baseball.
Hello and welcome back. You are listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM Charger
Baseball, as we mentioned, should be an exciting match of. Both teams struggling a little bit
to start off the season, Thomas Moore and Hillsdale. But like you can say with all baseball
seasons, it is a very long season. So Chargers happy to be at home, one of their first
homestands of the year. And they have a very young team last night in the second game.
We saw a lot of young guys getting an opportunity. I got a sophomore on the
down today, but one of their leading average guys has been the senior Zach Kent.
Yeah, exactly. I mean, he just has the bat swinging good right now. I mean, 20 runs,
34 hits. I mean, slugging percentage of a 0.539. I mean, he's just having a season so far,
starting all of their games right now. And you talk about a young squad. You know, Rocco,
one of those younger guys for the team, and he's swinging the back good right around a 300 average.
He's just been a guy that they can rely on in the hitting standpoint, and we're going to see if we can
keep that up tonight.
Yeah, another young guy to watch sophomore Will Millard.
Great night last night.
One of the innings threw out two runners trying to steal.
Has a great arm behind the plate.
Great job blocking.
Great defensive player.
Also scored a run, as we mentioned.
So it can kind of do a little bit of everything.
Could be someone to watch for them early.
Open for a good outing as well out of starting pitcher, Jacob Pollo.
Yeah, exactly.
And I do want to mention, you know, Will Mollard, I mean, a thousand percent fielding right now.
I mean, he's just a guy you can rely on when you're not throwing the ball's pass.
He's able to block everything.
I mean, having a great catcher that you can rely on is really going to help that chemistry.
And hopefully, Palo can see that.
They can connect and they can find the zone a lot here today.
Yeah, Chargers played great defense yesterday.
They were able to stop, I mean, only two runs allowed on, I think it was eight hits for Thomas Moore.
So they played well in the field, didn't really let a lot of opportunities slide.
But it was just the bats weren't really live until that last inning where they had that huge spark.
Weren't able to find much.
But we are about to have opening pitch here.
Should be a fun one leading off for Thomas Moore is AJ Ininger, the senior.
Yeah, rocking right now at 260 average.
Let's start this game off right.
Energer playing second base for the Saints.
See what we find here early.
And we are underway, a little bit cloudy, a little overcast.
We'll see how it plays out.
First pitch inside, the 1-0.
AJ Aninger is playing second base as well.
we mentioned he is a senior one of their leaders the 1-0 able to find the zone there the 1-1 now
rough slugging percentage for a j anager so far this season and that's typical for a lead-off hitter you'll see
that the 1-1 in the zone great find there 1-2 tacking the zone early is pallo trying to find
here the one check that that was a ball actually on the second one now now 3 1 sorry looked like a
strike from up here
the up by your say yeah looks like he called it off three one now early for paolo kicks deals fires the
three one fouled off away there by integer great cut and a great job here working his way back in for
paulow as we mentioned the six three sophomore from grand rapids forest hills eastern high school
And the anger lines it up.
The payoff pitch, steals, fires just outside.
Sorry, yeah, there is a bit of a scorebug there.
We thought that was the payoff pitch was not.
Scorebug is off.
Now it is 3-2.
It was a strike on the past one.
Kix steals fires up the infield.
Tough play there for Barowski.
Great, find.
What a catch there by the first baseman.
Will Lehman, hit the splits and got the first out.
One down in the top of the first.
Yeah, this infield for Hillsdale.
Really high defensive team right now.
Right on 96% on their fielding averages right now.
So not many errors out of the squad.
And it's something you like to see on defense.
You know, especially as a pitcher who may be in a little bit of a rut with this game so far.
With a 1-4-3 record, you'd love to know that your defense can take care of you and get those hard outs.
One down.
First pitch is up and in.
Great pitch there for a strike.
Early throwing strikes fine in the zone.
Oh, 1 with 1 down on a great play.
from Pirosky at second.
Inside, going to be a ball 1-1 now.
One out. Chargers infield, as we mentioned, played great yesterday, playing great early
and a great stretch there by Will Lehman, one of those other young guys, a freshman from Dallas, Texas.
The pitch, high-fly ball on the 1-1.
Hutchinson will range to it, able to find it two down now for the Chargers.
Quick work early for Impalo.
Exactly what you want to see from your starting pitcher to start the game.
Just getting two quick easy outs.
You know, with a field like this, that's pretty deep for a college field.
you know, these outfielders are going to have their work cut out for them.
You know, a lot of ranges are going to have to cover.
But for the chargers, you know, when that's your home field,
you know how to cover that distance fast.
Yeah, in the three-hole, Miguel Correa Jr.
First pitch is a ball.
Correa had a great day yesterday.
Had an RBI, the infielder, the freshman 5-11 from Avion, Indiana.
The 1-0 inside as well.
2-0 now. Down in the count is Paolo.
Correa, their guy right now.
that's for hitting around a 400 average right now to start the season starting 20 out of the 21 games the 2-0 finds the edge of the corner great pitch there by paulo able to knock one in 2-1 now starting to clear up here rain starting to fade and we have a great day for baseball the 2-1 kicks deals fires filed off great cut there from korea not able to straighten it out count moves the 2-2 paolo trying to get out of this inning early with no harm and i think that's important for a starting pitcher i mean when you can start the game off strong like this
this, really take the nerves off for the rest of the game, especially when you get a guy like
Karea passed. Great pitch on the outside corner rings them up in a one, two, three inning for
Paulo. That'll take us to immediate timeout. You're listening to Radio for Eelsdale, 101.7 FM

Hello, and welcome back.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.1.7 FM Charger Baseball 0-0 here after the
1-2-3 inning from Apollo.
Great job dealing, had the K on the corner to close it out.
now taking the mound number 33, Jackson Grimmelsman, the senior 6-2-205 lefty as we mentioned.
How's he doing to start this season?
Well, O-N-2 right now, and, you know, 70RA hovering around there is not the best way to start the season,
but you know what I love about these games when you have two pitchers are kind of hitting a little bit of a slump right now?
Somebody's going to come out with a win, hopefully.
Yeah.
And then also, you know, you just get to show your grit here.
I mean, this is where you show your team, this is where you show the fans,
that you're the guy that, you know, it's been two games.
I mean, both of them only have two, three games on their belt.
You know, tough games are going to happen,
and sometimes they're going to be back to back,
but it's time for these pictures to show what they really got.
And I think this is the time to show it.
Well, yeah, and two, you're starting to get towards the bottom of your rotation
with a waystand for Thomas Warren, a homestand here for the Chargers
where you're going to pitch your best guys early.
You want the home fans to see that.
And now you're kind of moving into the latter half of your rotation,
trying to find some good innings from these guys.
Leading off for the Chargers number 21, Tyler Sowers.
The freshman, again, young team this year.
They have been off to a rocky start,
but great to see these young guys getting an opportunity
and leading off here, the righty.
First the lefty, great matchup for the Chargers.
In left field, he's playing in the outfield.
See what he can find at the plate.
Grimmsman gets the sign here with the O-O.
Kicks, deals, fires inside, ball one.
Sowers this year.
Second on the bats for the Chargers.
3-38 average, starting the game on.
Certainly you're off right, 19 for 19 on games played and games started.
Kicksteel's fires the 1-0.
Inside again, attacking Sowers on the inner half of the plate,
which if you're a lefty, not necessarily what you want to do against the right,
he's able to pull that ball,
and they're not really guarding the pull of the outfield shifted slightly.
Kick-Steels fires on the 2-0.
Inside doesn't find it again.
3-0.
Now Sowers not taken his bat off the shoulders, great eye early.
Not known to really get on base with walks that much,
only six this year but you can change that now the three away outside a wild pitch gets away from
the catcher there sours on base and the chargers have a duck on the pond exactly and starting early
you know grimm's one's really got to take a deep breath here i mean walk your first guy on four pitches
not the best start take a deep breath relax yeah and that catcher today for them is actually um
Chad Ashley, the freshman.
So a young catcher with an old pitcher,
probably don't have a lot of reps together,
especially if he's towards the bottom of the rotation.
But here we go to the second bagger, Rocco Tanuta.
One of those young sophomores playing third base.
Great defensive player at the hot corner for the Chargers.
Played a lot last year as a freshman.
First one is in and good.
01 now for Gremelsman.
Spoke with Rocco earlier this week in our sports leadership class.
And he talks about a huge part
about the mental game. I mean, when you're in a game that 30% of the time you fail at,
you know, you really have to know, or 60% of the time that you fail at, you really got to be
able to refresh that mind. Sowers on first. The 1-1 pitch now, Rocco.
This is where the Charter struggled to try to get those runners in that they get on.
Kick steals, fires the 1-1 outside as well, early control issues for Grimmelsman.
Tanuta ahead in this count here, looking to attack, I'm sure, gets the sign from third base coach.
head coach for the Chargers
Tom Vassela
fourth year with the program
the 2-1 looks at Sowers
Kixieels fires inside and it's past
the catcher Sowers will walk easily to
second turns in the corner looking maybe third
actually able to get it off
the backstop but Gremelsman
struggling here early could see a mound visit
potentially
I mean yeah
it seems like this isn't that common for him
and he's not high in his walks throughout his games
you know only 12 so far but
just doesn't have that control right now.
It seems like he can't find the zone.
Chargers have not swung the bat yet.
3-1 here for Grimmelsman.
Runner on second is Sowers.
Kix steals, fires on the 3-1 inside.
Found it, though.
Rocco crown the plate there,
trying to get a walk.
Great pitch.
3-2, and he's going to have to swing it here now.
About time.
See what Rocco has on this 3-2 pitch.
Runner in scoring position.
No down here at bottom of the first.
Stairs back second to payoff pitch.
Great swing from Rocco.
High-fly ball to center field.
Look like it's going to be corralled there, gets it.
Sowers tags up.
He's going to third a great throw in, but Sowers is in safely,
and the rain comes into play early.
He slides off the bag.
Slides past the bag tagged out easily,
and wow, Grimilman just got out of a picky situation.
You know, two outs now after having second base.
Yeah, instead of having one out and a guy on third,
which a sack fly scores him, he has two outs,
no man on, and he has to face another lefty,
Zach Kent, one of their leading hitters so far,
but a lefty, lefty matchup is tough, no matter who you are.
First pitch, kicksteels fires, great one, finds the zone.
That could be what Grimmel's been needed to kind of settle in.
Yeah, exactly, a little boost, seeing something good, go right for your team,
and now you're settled in, know that you can take on the world,
and the world is for the Chargers, Zach Kent.
Kicksteels fires the 0-1 inside.
Kent leaves it 1-1 now.
Great patience from Zach Kent.
He had a walk yesterday, so no double play ball in play.
No runners on, two outs, one-one count in the bottom half here of this GMAC affair.
Kicksteels fires way outside again, spikes one. It's going to be two, one.
I mean, you cannot be having all those past pitches right now.
I mean, this is something that he's got to really take control when he gets back to the dugout.
Well, yeah, and with the rain playing, it is very hard for a catcher on this turf field to kind of try to step in front of those.
No runners on, so it doesn't hurt him there.
But it is 2-1 now, and he's going to take a step off the mound.
Resets here.
7 on the pitch clock kick steals fires the 2-1 way off almost spiked it again great play
there by actually able to control it now it's 3-1 like you said charges have swung the ball
swung the bat once rock away able to hit a decently high fly ball to center field that was worth
a tag but got thrown out kent chopper to the right side foul and again another three-two count
and early grimalsman is pitching a lot a lot of pitches thrown in this first
inning and like we said in series like this when you have to play a lot of bullpen a lot of different
players especially in that 50-0 game where they pitched a lot of guys you want grimalsman to give you a lot of
good innings and he's throwing a lot of pitches early obviously no runs no hits but a lot of walks a lot of
three-two counts and we'll see another one here with two outs all exactly and that's why i think
looking over to the saints bullpen already there to get someone warming up over there
kicks deals fires and the payoff pitch is low great at bat from zach kent to walk grimalsman
He's going to take it.
We'll take a reset here.
Is that Kenan first now?
And now Augie Hutchinson.
One of the...
Oh, check that.
No, at number 33, Will Lehman.
The freshman first baseman who made that great split
to make the play.
Augie Hutchison is on deck.
Great hitter for the Charter as well.
In the four spot, the righty Will Lehman.
Freshman from Dallas, Texas.
Kicksteels fires.
First one is in there.
Charter's a very patient approach of the plate early.
Exactly.
Will Lehman, third, and his RBI step.
for the chargers right now and with a guy on something you always like to see so can not really a threat
to steal here especially with two outs the o one kicksteels fires layman able to kind of get a hold of that
one foul that able to straighten it out and this is one of the first counts where we have seen grimmiseman
ahead oh two and let's see what type of approach he takes you know do you try and get him swinging or are you
going to attack the zone even more and really try and take control this game two outs oh two kicks deals fires
kent's on the run and it's a pass ball great call there
from coach and even there you see Zach Kent could have been up and he slid and was off the bag again
this rain is playing a fact for catchers and runners early yeah i mean when you have these turf fields
it's going to be more slippery and that's just not something a lot of people are used to yet even though
it's getting integrated more and more uh you know interesting to see that even the charges who this is
their home field are still slide past these bases and the ums are going to talk about it here not sure
what they're talking about definitely interesting what they're talking about i don't know if
they're considering the conditions of the field.
You wouldn't think so here.
It has stopped raining for about an hour now.
But definitely interesting.
One two count for Lehman took that ball on the,
which looked to be probably a hit and run there.
Zach Kent normally, like you said, not a steel guy,
but maybe predicting a wild one,
a put away pitch from Grimmelsman.
And this time out from the Umsman is something that kind of will give Grimmelsman
out of his flow.
He did start to find a rhythm.
I know he did walk Kent, but did get him to 3-2.
and now up one two with two outs, but a runner in scoring position,
a single scores, Ken, even with his lack of speed.
Exactly. I mean, he's going to find his way around.
I mean, he's got the long strides. He's a taller guy.
You know, I think anything that finds the zone gets through, you know,
gets through up the middle, finds a way, you know, even a bloop,
even a bloop single, I think is going to score Zach Kent here.
Yeah, because he's on, he's on the go on any sort of hit.
So he's definitely out of there.
Grimmelsman will get a couple pitches here, try to find him.
his flowback, but like we said, he is thrown a lot early.
It does look like they do have some guys stretching and tossing.
Mom's have talked it over.
I don't know what the call is.
He's going to talk to manager Tom Vassela, wondering.
Didn't look like Kent did anything illegal on the steel.
I don't know if they're talking about the field conditions.
That's the only thing that comes in mind for me.
Unless that Kent did something wrong in a steel,
but what could he have done wrong?
He slid into the base.
He went past, got back before he was tagged.
Obviously there was a pass ball, so it wasn't really a contest.
Definitely interesting here.
And like we said, it has cleared up significantly.
It is just those two slides and a couple pass balls that we've seen the field affected,
but it doesn't feel like it's anything outrageous.
I just don't know if the player said something, maybe.
It was hard to see.
I didn't see Zach can say anything.
It just seemed like they just wanted to convene about.
something. Coach seems to be a little upset about something. We said coach Tom Vesela,
she gave him third. And they're going to give them third. They're going to declare it a past ball.
Where it went out of bounds. It must have hit the backstop and went out. Yeah, this is very interesting here.
Ken is not going to argue and walk to third. And like we said, not a huge impact on this game,
obviously with two outs. Any hit is probably scoring him, but now for sure scoring him.
from third. Yeah, exactly. And well, Coach Jeremy Martin wants to go out there and find out why
they just get a free base here. Yeah, definitely, because it just looked like it was a passball.
They were able to get it, and then Kent slid off the bag.
Maybe, I don't know, because he's allowed to go back to the base. Maybe his slide over the
bag was beneficial, and they just gave him the base. Oh, could it, yeah. Maybe they assumed that he
was continuing, yeah. And they didn't throw down. And I don't know.
Definitely an interesting situation, but I think this hurts both the Chargers and Thomas Moore.
Grimmelsman just wants to get out of this ending.
It's been ups and downs throughout the whole thing.
And if you're Will Lehman, you just took a ball, but you still have two strikes,
haven't swung the bat here in a minute.
Definitely getting cold here.
I mean, haven't seen really any practice swing swimmer or anything like that.
And even if you're the pitcher for the Chargers, Apollo, you are, you felt it great in that first inning.
Now you're kind of delayed.
I'm just able to square it away with Coach Martin,
and I think we're back to baseball.
One two count, and after all this talk, a strike here in the inning's over.
And we're going to hope that doesn't happen because we want to see some excitement here,
but Grimmel's been praying for one.
Bottom one here, zero, zero, kicks, steals, fires.
Lehman takes this one high fly ball, left field.
If it's fair, it's gone.
It's fair and it's gone.
Will Lehman with a home run for the Chargers.
Just clipped off the wall.
I would bet that's almost exactly 330 feet.
Gets it right inside the foul pole.
What a swing after being cold for so long, and he still takes it.
We talked about all this noise about the stolen base.
Does he get third?
Ken Lehman still swing the bat, and the freshman takes it yard.
Left field line.
Like we said, if it's fair, it's gone, clips the corner of the foul pole and takes one yard.
What a swing from the kid.
Only his second home run of the season.
and wow, did he make it count?
And that's going to get the charges
an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
And Grimmelsman now has got to continue
going against Augie Hutchinson.
Yeah, one of the senior leaders
who's been on this program for a while.
The 01 kicks steals fires.
He'll take the first pitch low.
1-0 here, still 2-outs,
but what a swing we'll be thinking about that one.
The whole game, a tough ballpark to hit one out.
The 1-0 kicks-deals fires low again.
2-0 and Grimmelsman
did not benefit from that time off.
I could only imagine what he's thinking.
and he has got to be furious that they took that.
He was finally finding the zone, finally getting the control he needed,
and then they call it time out.
The 2-0, Hutchinson able to foul it off.
First strike there, 2-1, and wow.
Yeah, this is a ballpark where we just don't see home runs.
It is 390 to dead center, 3.30 to the corners,
and that's MLB regulation size, and the fence isn't super tall,
but that ball was crushed by Lehman.
Kix-Steels fires in the 2-1.
Hutchinson rolls one over to 3rd.
Tough play. Vogelson, able to make the play.
And the inning is over. It's going to take us to a quick break here.

Hello and welcome back.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
Charger baseball two nothing here top of second and Jacob Paolo back on the mound after his one, two, three inning.
It's been a while long inning Chargers fought.
They had that runner that was thrown out on the false slide and then a home run from Will Lehman.
Chargers trying to recreate that first game magic of yesterday.
First pitch is in there.
And I bet Paolo's just got to love it.
I mean, his team getting up early really takes a lot of stress off you when you get a two run bump here just to start.
First pitch is in and a strike for Paul.
Pollo, second one, not so lucky, the 1-1 now.
Apollo, as we mentioned, he's off to a tough start, but only a sophomore,
hoping he can find his groove in this game.
The 1-1-Kix-Deals, fires, fouled away off to the right.
And at the plate now is Gunnar Kulkoff, the junior 6-2 from Cincinnati, Ohio.
A lot of these saints struggling so far on their batting average,
and I think that's just a shift from NIA Division 2 NCAA.
First, the next one is fouled off, the 1st.
1-2 off his foot.
Kind of ate it there.
Tough one when you followed off your own foot.
But he's back in the batter's box.
Made a great play at first in that inning.
But like we said, 2-0-0 here, the Chargers,
more runs than they had all of the second game yesterday.
Yeah, exactly.
And I bet they're hoping for a redo of that first game.
That 15-0 shutout.
And I know Paolo is.
Yeah, Paulo's 1-2 pitch is fouled off again.
A great-at-bat here from Kalkoff.
Calcoff here, the 1-2.
Apollo kicks deals, fires.
Great pitch down the first base line.
And what a play there by Lehman.
Flips it to Apollo in the first out of the inning.
Will Lehman, welcome to the show.
Yeah, Paulo giving him a little tap on the hand there,
let him know that he appreciates the help from his defense.
And already we're seeing this defense really come out to play right now.
Yeah, Will Lehman flashing the leather there down the first base line.
And after the home run, I'm sure he's feeling it,
getting it into a rhythm.
Makes a great web gem and just kind of flips it to the pitcher for the first out.
Yo, O, Paulo, Kix steals, fires inside, and he hit him.
There, number 36, Derek Mernucci.
He is in the DH spot.
He catches occasionally for them, but he's rocking the DH spot,
and he takes one on the shoulder there.
First bad pitch, I think we've seen from Paulo.
He's done a great job of finding the zone, especially early in the count,
but first base runner for the Saints.
That's actually going to be Paulo's 10th man hit this season so far, hit by pitch.
leading the team right now in that stat which isn't something you want to be
but i mean you're going to crowd that batter there
Raleigh Potson now in the junior first pitch a great one
a one now checking on mariochi looks like he might be a guy who's willing to steal with his lead
off paul's something to watch here one out in this inning the o one
Apollo kicks deals fires high fly ball to the left field line
does roco have room looks like he does what a play from roco near the bull
pen of Thomas Moore and two outs now. Quick work from Paulo. Half flies off and you get to see that nice
hair from Rocco as he goes over there to make a pretty athletic play on that high foul ball.
The sophomore from Barlett, Illinois, St. Francis High School. Great play there towards the warning
track, founded in the air. No sun today, so nothing to worry about. Two outs. The O.O. Count,
Nolan McLean now up. Marucci on first. Kick steals fires low. First ball there in this count for
Paulo. McLean in now. Noah McLean, the freshman outfielder from Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Goes for a pickoff there on Mariucci. No dice for Paulo. Will Lehman staying close to that
base. Like you said, you don't want to get a runner here in scoring position with two outs.
Bradley Pauson here doesn't have many starts under his belt. But with this double header,
well, back-to-back double-headers, you can go to your bench a little bit, see what he can do.
Great pitch there, the 1-1 now from Paulo. Great frame there by catchard Will Maward, as we said.
great defensive player the one one
kick steals fires on the outside of the plate
great pitch gets them to swing
the one thing about these bench guys is they're going up there and they
they want to hit you know they want to they want to swing and i think
pauloz recognizes that and he's going to attack him
throw a few balls out there that look nice to swing at
the one two now to end the inning great pitch down the first base line and will
layman again snow cones it in his mid and taps the bag will layman with two
out it's on the inning. That'll do it here from the top of the second. Take you to a quick break here.

Hello, and welcome back. You are listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.1.7 FM Charger
baseball here bottom two will mallard up against grimalsman 1 o count first one got away from him second one
the off speed finds the zone great pitch there and like we said grimalsman back in for this second inning
yeah and i think he's just got to be aggressive i love aggressive pitching especially after a slow firsting
like that last one the one one kicks theils fires another off speed in the zone gets milard to swing
one two now i mean take control of the zone i mean you were behind almost every at that last time
you know get him swinging attack the zone and get him by him
kick steals fires the one two outside great job from milar to lay off he wanted it
two two now and it's starting to drizzle back again overcast here
chargers at home kick steals fires the two two in the zone great swing from
malard high fly ball the center field around the charger head there easy play can of
corn there one down yeah but i mean good contact and i wonder how grimalsman's feeling up
I mean, you have guys just continually getting good solid hits on there.
I think there's something you have to consider.
Great play out there by Ben Duncan playing center of the senior.
Up to bat.
Now, Guard Swenson, the freshman.
First one again, that off speed pitch, working early from Grimmelsman.
Didn't throw a lot of them that I saw in that first inning.
Finding it in the second, finds a strike there, the O-1.
Kick-Steels, fires on the O-1.
Outside plate.
Going to be a ball there.
Close one.
One-one now for Guard Swenson.
Another one of those young players for the Chargers getting an opportunity here.
Up 2-0.
Kick-Steels fires in the 1-1.
Great swing from Swenson, high-fly ball into the gap.
But the shift over to the right, great call there from Coach.
Able to range over there for Ben Duncan and his second force out of the inning.
Back-to-back, solid hits for the Chargers, but right to the outfield.
And on that deep center field, you're not going to get much.
And with the shift there, player was right there.
Easy out for the...
and now up Billy Portosky.
First one's high on the fastball.
1-0 count now.
Parowski playing a second base for the Chargers.
The 1-0 count from Girmelsman.
Kick-Steels fires.
Piroski leaves it out there in a strike.
Great pitch again.
Finding a lot of strikes with that off-speed pitch early in the count.
It could be someone to watch for the Chargers.
Kix-Steels fires with the 1-1.
Way outside.
not able to find the zone there from Grimmelsman.
And this has been a quicker inning of work for him.
Two outs already.
Not a lot of pitches.
Something you want to see from Thomas Moore.
No base runner so far getting outs.
Yeah, exactly.
And we know this is going to be a bullpen game probably later on.
But if you can control the amount of pitches you have, it can really help you out.
Porowski leaves that one inside 2-2 now.
And a chance to get out of the inning unscathed for Grimelsman.
The left, he kicks, deals.
Great cut from Porraski.
Again, a line drive.
Holstead will find it for the out.
Great play there, but that's going to end the inning.
Take you to a quick break.

Top three here, two-nothing lead for the Chargers.
Playing great here early,
but a little bit of struggles from the bottom half of the lineup there in that last inning.
Yeah, exactly. And, you know, this is a pretty important game for the charges right now.
Still early in the season, obviously.
But right now we're not going to 12 and 13 record.
Great time. It would be a great opportunity to get back to 500.
And also get a nice 7-4 start in the conference.
Now up the catcher.
Chad Ashley, the freshman 6'1-190 from Peach Grove, Kentucky, hometown kid for Thomas Moore.
Apollo kicks deals fires outside for the first 1-1-0 count now.
ball no strikes for paulo the sophomore kicksteels fires low again catcher trying to calm him down there
two o count and he's had a little bit of control issues but overall has worked through the lineup pretty well
no hits allowed yet kick steals fires there foul ball deep to the right field line was hoping you weren't going to jinx it
there yeah no and it looked like it might have been a great cut there from ashley but goes foul towards the
football field 2-1.
Apollo kicks, steals, fires one in there, and another one straightens it out more,
a little bit more towards the right and near the bullpen now of the Chargers,
hoping he doesn't straighten it down in the Fair Base line.
Exactly.
2-2 count now for Ashley Powell, trying to get another punch out.
He's got one.
Paulo with the 2-2.
Great find on the corner and another backwards K for Paulo.
So far, getting two guys to look at some strikeout pitches there.
And that's a good way to start right now, especially this inning.
Taking down a number eight hitter.
And hopefully you can get rid of this number nine hitter and then get back to that starting lineup.
Yeah, Apollo doing a great job working through these lineups.
Hasn't allowed a hit, as you mentioned, just the hit by pitch for him early.
The OO.
Outside, we're not able to control it.
Apollo's not happy with it there.
1-0. Up now. Great hit there from Dunk in the center.
Fielder goes right to Porowski, able to find Lehman.
Two down now and quick work from Paulo with two outs here in this inning.
Great job there for Pulaski at second base.
Had the great hit there in the last inning that was found in a fielder.
But now Enninger back up the lead-off hitter, one of their best hitters.
The second baseman for Thomas Moore.
Hollow trying to get out of another inning with no hits.
Kick steals, fires the first one on the outside ball.
Hollow, as we said, struggled, but is not allowed a hit.
Trying not to jinx it here at the top of the third, but great work early.
The 1-0 fouled away.
Great swing there by Ininger, not able to straighten one out.
One ball, one strike, two outs here.
Charter's up two-nothing.
Great, cut again, fouled away, and we'll go to 1-2,
and interesting. Chargers have one hit.
Saints have none, and it's a 2-0 lead for the Chargers.
Been good so far for him.
I mean, you have a big home run from Lehman,
and you just have the lead, you know,
even if it's a defensive affair for the rest of the game.
The 1-2, a great swing there.
Augie's got a beat on it.
Able to secure it.
That'll end the inning again.
Paulo, quick work.
Another 1-2-3 inning,
and the Chargers up 2-0.
We'll take you to a quick break here.

Hello and welcome back.
You were listening to Radio Freehillsdale 101.7 FM Charger Baseball 2-0-0 lead here.
As we head to the bottom of the 8th, Aaron Janassick will get his first chance playing shortstop today.
He plays infield, plays outfield, does a little bit of everything with the sophomore.
I got a lot of burn last year as a freshman.
Once again, another young guy with an opportunity.
Let's see what he can do with it with his first at bat.
Back up against Grimmelsman again, starting.
and the third. The O-O-O. Inside, great pitch again, gets him to swing. That off-speed early has been a key for him.
Now up O-1 in the count. A bit a tough year for Josiah so far, 179 average. The O-1 is in there on the outer half.
The plate now O-2. Grimblesman, as we said, getting more aggressive here as the game goes on, able to find the zone.
Now up O-2. The O-2, can he get his first punch out of the night? He cannot. Jasek able to swing one to shore.
Spikes it. What a pick there.
Great play there for Kalkoff.
He'll be able to get the first out on the pick.
Not a great throw from Karea, but good enough to get the out.
Yeah, exactly. And just an athletic play by that first basement over there.
Able to get it out to secure the first out.
Grimmelsman, been feeling it ever since he let up that home run.
Yeah, tough for a pitcher to lock in.
A little bit of a shift here from the outfield with Tyler Sowers leadoff hitter up.
On the first one, swings it to the shorts.
I'm going to be a tough play in the hole by Karea.
across Sowers with the speed
able to beat it out. This is exactly
what you want from your lead off guy right there
although it's the second one of the inning
but as usual
started right there.
Able to run it out, get on base
and here we go. Rocko with an opportunity
to advance him possibly scorn.
Rocco Tanuta with the opportunity
here as we said one out runner on
first. A lot of speed there with Tyler Sowers
as we saw him get an
infield single.
Grimbles men against the sophomore.
to pick him off but runner goes is he in there no great play there from the saints predicted a steal
went for the pickoff sowers went on first moving and got thrown out at second and that's got to feel
great for grimalsman i mean when you're able to find a guy and get him caught catch him stealing just with a
throw down to first i mean that's got to make you feel good and now out of nowhere two outs and you know
rocko has has has going to have to put something together himself here the o-oh from grimalsman
working through this line of rocko swings down the third base line goes foul a 1-9
Now, like we said, charge is very aggressive on the base pass.
Sowers obviously quick as the lead off hitter ran out that single, but was stealing no matter what there.
Saw the movement from the pitcher.
Great job not to give him a tell.
Picks him off.
You know, one on the inside Rocco jams him to the second baseman, able to make the rhythm play, and he's out.
Great play there by integer to Caltoff.
We are headed to the top of the fourth.
Quick break here.

Hello and welcome back you were listening to Radio for Hillsdale, 101.7 FM Charger Baseball.
Hello, back on the bump here for top of four.
No hits allowed.
Something to watch here.
He's done a great job early in this one, able to two punchouts and a couple great plays in the field from Lehman,
and the Chargers are up to nothing.
And with how much you mentioned it, I feel like you're trying to jinx it right now, for it.
Two hits for the Chargers, two runs.
As we said, Sowers with a great infield single and then got thrown out.
So Chargers have had runners.
On the base, but a couple pickoffs, a couple of great plays on some steals.
And next thing you know, Grimmelsman is working his way through this lineup after that home run.
Pala with a chance now.
First pitch inside, jams him.
Great play there.
Swings it, gets it to short.
Great play by Lehman, and he's out.
Good contact there.
Swung on Janassick, able to make the play in a one pitch, one out for Pala.
Yeah, this Chargers defense.
I mean, they're playing today.
They're getting everywhere.
they're being athletic and they're making strong throws when they need to.
Cavill's Vogel Sang was the hitter there. Swing on.
Got it's a short thrown out now up.
The third hitter in the line at Miguel Carrere Jr. the freshman.
Paulo working through the lineup on the outside half.
Able to find the zone 01 now.
Attacking their best hitters is what I've noticed so far.
The 01 with one out.
Finds the zone on the off speed pitch gets Correa way out in front.
Now he's up 02.
only three pitches early and he is working through this lineup
Apollo the O2 with one out
outside but gets Corae at a swing having to play defensive there
follows it off getting ahead in the count right now I mean that is going to be the key for him
to continue the right he's having and when you get ahead of the count you
force the batters to be so aggressive that you can kind of work with a couple
pitches especially him he hasn't thrown a lot in this game the O2
fouled off again from Correa great pitch
from Paulo and still attacking the zone even up O2.
Clearly forcing the batters to be uncomfortable here.
And when he's swinging at something that looks like it's going to jam him,
I mean, you know you're in control as a pitcher.
The O2, Pollo way outside with the fastball trying to find something.
You're not going to foul off that one.
Yeah, I know.
Great job from Korea, evened out O2 to work it back to 1-2 with 1 out.
The 1-2 inside and he hit him.
That's one Pollo is not happy about up 1.
Up 02, now 1-2, and then he hits him second.
That's been his only air.
He's hit two batters.
Other than that, he's been mowing through this lineup.
That's his 11th on the season, had one earlier.
That's what I see him struggling with.
He doesn't miss much, but when he does it, usually actually,
he plunks the batter.
And they are crowding the play.
Now up the first baseman, Gunner Kaltoff.
Made a couple good plays over at first defensively.
See if he can find some offense.
Grayle leads off the O-O.
Tries to pick him off.
Great job.
almost got him.
Great throwback from Paulo.
Carrera able to slide back in safely.
Korea's a shortstop freshman.
A couple good plays last inning.
Tries to pick him off again.
Not able to find him there.
Paulo trying to get an easy out as we've seen from Grimelsman.
Yeah, exactly.
That's what I was about to say.
I mean, he's trying to replicate what Grimmsman did.
But, I mean, Correa, he is a danger at stealing from the base
to have 11 for 11 this season.
Wow.
Yeah, definitely impressive.
It should be a fun match, but he does take off.
Will Millard threw out two batters or two runners yesterday.
First pitch is in for a strike.
The O-1 now from Apollo outside, Millard able to keep it from a pass ball now,
one-one with one out.
And this is going to be kind of the test for Paula.
I mean, you get the second batter on,
and you're going to have to deal a little bit with a runner on base.
Let's see how he can perform.
throws back again for the third time.
Correa able to get back a very smart base runner.
As we've said, he hasn't been caught stealing.
yet one ball one strike one out definitely going to be pitching low in the zone trying to get a double
play and there it is the double play ball the second billy great relay throw gets him and a double play
there from Janassick to layman and the charges are out of the inning on a great pitch low in the zone
as we mentioned from palo it's going to take us to a quick break listening to ralphreelze out one
one point seven fm charger baseball i'm gordon i'm gordon i'm ryan
Welcome to the Astro Minute, where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds out of time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're seeing Signs of Spring.
Spring constellations are finally joining prominent year-round constellations in the evening skies.
Scan the sky just west of north to find Queen Cassiopeia's W-shaped asterism,
and the fainter house-shaped King Cepheus on her right.
A little further to the right is the Little Dipper and Ursa Minor,
with the northern pole star Polaris at the end of its handle.
To its right, find the Big Dipper in Ursa Major,
then follow the arc of the big dipper's handle
to see the bright red star Arcturist making his spring debut on the northeast horizon.
Winding between the dippers is Draco the Dragon,
with its little round head down toward the horizon.
And roaring into the eastern spring sky, find Leo the lion,
with his prominent backwards question mark punctuated by the bright quadruple star system, Regulus.
That's your Astro Minute.
Hello and welcome back.
You're listening to Reader Field's at 101.7 FM Charger Baseball here.
Bottom four, Zach Kent,
three, four, five up for the chargers,
meet of the order with a chance to get at Grimelsman,
who has thrown a lot of pitches, but has really settled down,
as we mentioned, only giving up two hits,
one of them a long fly ball from Lehman, who is due up in this inning.
But I do love that Zach Kent's going to be able to lead this off.
I mean, he's their guy.
I just want to see him just be aggressive here.
Swing at the pitches you can.
and crank one into, you know, deep left-center field.
Yeah, it is tough too.
Lefty-lefty matchup for Kent,
but like we said, he's been hitting great this year for the Chargers,
one of their leaders, a senior.
See what he can find here from Centerville, Ohio.
The O-O.
Kent lays off, but it's in the zone anyways.
No shift here against Kent.
Kind of hits it to all parts of the ballpark,
especially against the lefty.
See what he can find the 1-0, or the 0-1.
outside 1-1 now.
And one thing about Grimmelsman is he does go quick.
He does not even threat that pitch clock.
Yeah, exactly.
And I can throw off a batter a little bit.
You know, they like to take their time in there sometimes.
The 1-1 way outside from Grimmelsman.
He's had a little bit of control issues now.
2-1, Kent, who did work a walk in that first inning.
So see what you can find here at the bottom of the fourth.
2-1.
Inside Kent, high-fly ball to left field.
that warning track wall looking up and it's down
Kent finds it he's turning second he'll stay up
and a great hit from Zach Kent
almost found its way out of the ballpark and it's a double for Kent
and he's their guy great way to start the inning I mean he's the leader right now
and they're doubles for this season that's going to be about his eighth
second base hit right now yeah and Pottson in left field there had a hard time tracking it
saw the warning track thought it might be gone and it was just out of reach
couldn't make a web gem there and now will
Layman. We've seen this situation before. He is up now against Grimmelsman. The O-O.
Ken on second. Layman back up. Takes the first one inside a ball. Great job there to be patient.
After that first home run, I bet he's looking at this. He's hoping for a meatball and he's going to take it.
Yeah, and the thing is, if you're Grimsman, you kind of want to work the outside of the plate here.
He left one inside and Lehman took it to the left field, kind of pulled it.
Another pitch inside, though, as we mentioned, it might pitch outside, kind of attacking Lehman,
almost hit him there now 2-0
Layman staying patient no outs in the inning
off the Kent lead-off double
I almost feel like him being aggressive on the pitch clock
might be hurting his control right now
yeah he's not taking his time bullpen
kind of getting loose here for Thomas Moore
could be something to watch
kicks deals fires inside again
finds the zone Lehman
appears to be taken all the way now to 1
looks like a pitch to hit but staying patient here
they have a runner on second no outs
could be a great opportunity to convert
the 2-1
Kent on second. Kicksteels, fires outside. Great swing to Lehman. Deep right field, going back.
Great catch there by McLean, able to corral it. But Ken is standing up there,
slid in and almost had to hold on to the base even to hold on, but he's able to get to third now.
One out, runner on third, and a great job there to advance the runner from Lehman on another deep fly ball.
It did exactly what he had to do. I mean, when you're in that situation, no outs, you know,
You want to try and take it home again, but you know what?
Just to get it deep and far out, especially to the right field, away from the third base.
It's exactly what you've got to do.
Great job by Lehman.
Now Hutchinson with an opportunity, one out to get an RBI.
Kent trying to get his second run of the game.
Great pitch there, and it's through Hutchinson with the RBI single into left field.
He's going to get his buddy, Zach Kent in, and that's going to be a 3-0 game for the Chargers.
A couple of seniors working together there.
Great start from Kent on the double.
And then an RBI single from Hutchinson, the outfielder playing in right today, the senior from Celine, Michigan.
Now up the star sophomore catcher Will Millard with one out.
And now if your grimalsman, same thing as we said, you kind of want to double play pitching low in the zone.
Try to pick off Hutchinson.
Kind of a week of a temp.
Hutchinson able to get back safely.
Oh, oh, count here.
One out.
Only five of steel.
steal attempts on the year for Hutchinson, so I don't think to keep too close of an eye on him.
Trying to get a quick out, as we said. He's got a couple of those. Hutchinson back.
High foul ball there, Malar, out of bounds. Chargers are swinging right now, and when they get in this groove,
it's hard to stop. I mean, the Saints found that out yesterday in that 15-0 game, and I bet they are just
hoping not to get into another situation like that. Grimmelsman could be his last inning of work,
down 3-0, allowed four hits, fought back after that home run, but having a little bit of struggles in this inning.
Grimmelsman kicks deals fires inside ball there one one count with one out for Millard.
Great job from the Chargers. Stay in patient at the plate.
Not doing too many bad swings early.
Just kind of staying patient waiting for theirs.
See what they can find here.
Grimilman taking its time.
Seven on the pitch, clock kicks deals, fires great rip from Millard.
It's the short chance for two, turns it to second to first and he gets him out,
double play to end the inning.
Great job there, turning the double play from time.
Thomas, more of the 6-4-3 double play.
closes out the inning, 3-0-0 lead.

A little bit of action in the bullpen for both teams here.
But Jake Pollo, no hit still.
He got out of the jam with one outrunner on first effort, Plunk in one of them again.
But other than those two plays, no air.
and no hits.
Pollo is working through this lineup.
He's going to have a tough task ahead of him with the 5, 6, 7.
Derek Maranucci up first, the DH.
Obviously what I've seen from Pollo,
I mean, being aggressive, getting ahead in the pitch count,
and then also starting out,
he attacks these right-handed hitters inside.
And it's been working out so far,
getting a lot of jammed them a little bit,
not allowing them to get solid contact.
The OO from Pollo.
Finds one outside.
1-0. Top of the fifth year in the double-header matchup between Hillsdale and Thomas Moore.
The 1-0 inside and low. Ball 2 there from Paulo.
2-0 as he has been mowing through these lineups.
Maranucci there, D.H., one of their best hitters.
Kixiel's fire is able to find one in the zone there now to 1.
Maranucci, a Michigan native, actually, finding his way down into Kentucky.
The 2-1. Great pitch down the third base line. Fowled off his foot.
It looked like it was in play, but got it off his own toe, and he's going to need a second there to reenact.
Yeah, I was wondering there when he wasn't running towards first base.
I thought maybe he was just taking a playoff.
Yeah, Rocco was ready there to make a great throw across the layman as he has all day.
He made in a couple great plays, and the count moves to 2-2 off the foul ball.
3-0 lead here for the Chargers at the top of the 5th.
Marinoucci, waiting the pitch from Palo.
So the 2-2 high fly ball, right field Hutchinson, able to corral it he does, one out for the Chargers.
Good job there from Augie, staying patient, waiting for it, able to corral it, and another out for Palo.
Yeah, exactly.
And what I'm seeing here is when they do make contact, not high on the X velocity.
They're not really, you know, they're not really extending the hands there.
Their contact, while it may be solid, they're just not finding the spots they need to.
Now up Riley Putson.
No shift again from the Chargers, playing straight up defense.
out here at the top of the fifth.
Paulo.
Great pitch there.
The heater finds the zone, O-1 now.
Kix steals fires on the O-1.
Finds the zone again. Now he's up O-2.
And this is the situation where we have seen him
plink a few, where he does get ahead of the
count trying to put him away on the inside half.
Let's see what he does here.
Paulo, the O-2 with one out.
Chargers up 3-0. Great cut there.
And that's going to find a gap.
Could be multiple bases here.
Finds the fence.
Poulson, find an extra.
A bases and a double there in the first hit of the night.
Given up by Paulo is a two bagger for the Saints.
Yeah, it looks like Paulo just wanted to put him away, put one right in the strike zone.
But he was on that all day.
Gets a great hit, puts it right into right center field.
Easy double.
As we just mentioned, they haven't been able to find a gap yet today, but they do there.
The lefty with the matchup advantage on Paulo.
It's going to take a minute to collect himself.
First hit, he's allowed, one out.
Great opportunity for the Saints to get some runs here and find some momentum.
Exactly. Sadly, no, but no-no for Palo.
trying to find here. Noah McLean. The freshman will get the honors here at the plate. One out the OO.
Great pitch there to respond with a heater. And it's a ball high. It looked like a strike right down Broadway, but they're going to call it a ball.
First hit of the night for the Saints is a big one here with a runner in scoring position. One out top five.
Kicksteel fires. Great frame there from Millard. Able able to get a strike in for his Guy Paolo, one, one now.
So far, McLean, no walks on the season, but still rocking a 3.30.
33 batting average.
Clayton in the seven spot, aggressive hitter for the Saints.
Rips one there.
High fly ball, the left field.
Great play there.
Throw back to second.
Got him, doubled them up.
What a play from the boy, Sowers.
Tyler Sowers, the freshman, makes the catch.
Caught the runner there being aggressive.
Throws back to second, doubles them up, and Pollo's out of the inning unscathed.
Wow.
Great play there.
We'll take you to a quick break before the bottom of the fifth.
You're listening to Radio for Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.

Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and I looked at my keyboard and saw some weird little marks.
And one of the weirdest little marks, in my opinion, is the ampersand.
What is that little squiggle?
Actually, the ampersand has very little to do with the English word and, and everything to do with the Latin word et.
The squiggle, as I've described it, is supposed to be a combination of the letters E and T.
At one point, this symbol was actually the 27th letter in the English alphabet,
probably because the word and is used so often that it just made sense to save space,
especially in printed materials where every letter had to be typed set by hand.
The word ampersand is also a shortened form of and per se and,
which is what British children called this symbol when reciting the alphabet.
That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminut.com for more tips and tricks.
Hello and welcome back.
You are listening to Radio Freehillsdale,
1.1.7 FM Charger, baseball chargers up 3-0 here, bottom 5,
with an opportunity to get some runs.
And Grimmelsman getting an opportunity once again,
three runs on four hits and no activity in Thomas Moore's bullpen,
probably trying to save that bullpen for the later game today.
Yeah, exactly.
You know, Grimmsman hasn't been having a terrible game so far.
It just seems like, you know, when there's a runner on,
that's when he's given up his hits,
but he hasn't been putting it together, you know,
innings where they're stringing together a whole bunch of hits batting around the lineup.
So I can see why they'd want to keep him out there, especially his, I wonder what his mentality is right now,
going out there.
You know, you're down 3-0.
You know you've got to get a scoreless inning to keep your team in it.
Just want to see what he's going to do here.
Yeah, especially with him facing the 7-8-9 trying to get a quick inning.
First pitch to Guard Swenson outside, but a strike swinging up 01 on the off-speed pitch.
Guard Swenson, a freshman from Plymouth, Minnesota.
The O-1, kick-steels, fires inside.
Swenson rips it down the first base line,
but a rhythm play there for Kolokoff,
and that'll be the first out of the inning on two pitches.
Up now for the Chargers, second baseman, Billy Poroski.
Flied one out last time he was up, a great hit,
but found the mitt of a saint.
The O-O with one out.
Grimble's been working here with the first pitch strike.
Oh-in-1 now,
Again, he is working through this lineup.
He is attacking, got caught with the Zach Kent double into the run last time.
But see what you can do here.
The 0-1 inside ball 1.
1-1 with 1-1 out.
Chargers up 3-0 here.
One hit for the Saints 4 for the Chargers, bottom 5.
Discipline batter here for the Chargers.
That one is also outside.
No contest.
2-1 now.
Only a 264 average, but an on-base percentage over 400.
So, I mean, he's just a guy who's going to stay in there and be willing to work the count.
And Poroski's made a couple great plays at second early for the Chargers.
The 2-1 curveball.
Paraski likes it and he finds it into the gap.
This could be multiple base for Borowski.
He's rounding one, finds the wall, the speed.
He's going to turn, going for three and a stand-up triple for Parowski.
What a play there from the young fella at second base.
And that's what happens when you get ahead in the count.
You get a pitch you like.
And he absolutely takes advantage of it right into right center field.
Just a great hit.
and now you got a deal
Grimmelsman's now going to deal with the nine and the one hitter again
Yeah now he's got Aaron Janassik
Eric Jasek sorry with a chance here
One out but a runner on third and a deep fly ball will score the Speedy Porowski
Grimmelsman no mound visit yet he's going to work through this inning
Kicksteels, fires in the OO
and Jurassic he likes it
He's going to take one to the gap himself
That's going to score Paraski and he's going for two
Can he find it? He can a stand up
Double for the Chargers.
And this is where the Saints might want to make a change here.
It might be time to go take him out and visit and possibly get the bullpen guy in.
Yeah, the bullpen is starting to get active.
Now Grimblesman facing two righties to start this inning, which is tough.
Now he has to face the freshman Tyler Sowers,
who made the great double play from the outfield to end the last inning.
He's feeling it, see what he can find with a runner on second and one out.
Great job there from Jerez.
Sowers here, the O-O.
Jasek's going to go for 30s in there safe.
Great job to maintain the slide, not fall off the base as the sun has come out.
Field's starting to dry up and a stolen base for Jasek.
I mean, that was a perfect jump.
I mean, I was shocked to see him go there, but he got it right when Grimmelsman started up his pitch.
Grimmelsman here, infield in with one out.
Sowers at the plate down the third base line, and that's not going to allow the runner to score an easy rhythm play there.
Vogel sang to Kolkhov and one out becomes two there, but now he's not.
you have Rocco up for the Chargers third baseman.
Rocco Tintura.
And he loves these moments.
This is where he wants to be.
Hopefully now he can just get a simple base hit and move that runner home.
Chargers with six hits, four runs now.
Grimmelsman still in.
Up four, Chargers.
The O-O.
Grimmelsman attacking early, but it's low and outside.
Ball one, one-o-count Rocco Tunuta.
I think we said a great defensive player at third base.
see if he can manage the moment here with high fly ball.
The center field should be a rhythm play for Duncan, and it is, and the inning's over.
Chargers is able to find one run on the JASIC double, scoring Poroski, but that's it for the Chargers
up four nothing. It's going to take us top six.
Listen to Radio for Yieldsdale 101.7 FM. Charger baseball, I'm Gordy. I'm Ryan.

of the most iconic Broadway theaters.
Located on 222 West 51st Street is the Gershwin Theater.
This theater opened its doors in 1972 and was originally called the Uris Theater,
named after the Uris Brothers who developed the building.
The building was eventually renamed the Gershwin Theater after brothers George and Ira Gershwin,
who wrote several Broadway musicals.
The first show at the theater was a Broadway musical called Via Galactica,
a science fiction musical with rock music and a set.
made of trampolines. The show opened on November 28, 1972, and was one of the first musicals
to lose $1 million due to the show closing after just seven performances. However, it's the arrival
of Wicked in 2003 that truly transformed the Gershwin into one of the most recognizable theaters on Broadway.
With its stunning set, soaring music, and unforgettable characters, Wicked against to captivate
audiences year after year, becoming one of the longest running and most beloved shows in Broadway
history. And through the overwhelmingly successful release of Wicked's movie adaptation, the Broadway
musical continues to draw more and more attention. Thank you for tuning in to Broadway Spotlight
at Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Hello and welcome back. You are listening to Radio Free
Hillsdale, 11.7 FM Charger baseball. We are back here. Top six. Apollo
first pitch against Ashley's in for a strike,
and he is working through this game with only one hit, no runs.
Paulo back to work.
Working quickly there.
1-1 now on the second pitch is a ball to Ashley.
Kicksteels fires the 1-1 is in there, gets him to swing hard,
wanted that one.
Great pitch there from Paulo, and now he's up 1-2.
Yeah, I don't know where he wanted that one because he was swinging for the fences.
A little high there from Paulo gets him to swing.
The 1-2 fouled away out of bounds.
cut there from actually the freshman catcher from peach grove kentucky as we said before
one ball two strikes here charges up for nothing kicks deals fires low for ball two
trying to get that put away pitch he's got two k's but he's been working a lot of ground balls
a lot of fly balls to get his outs the two two hard ground ball to prowsky finds layman
and the first out of the inning on the ground ball again paula working that ground ball
game early. Yeah and one thing I've seen from the Saints which you come from kind of an
inexperienced team they're not working the count that much they're low and how much they
get walked here and especially part of their starting lineup is with these double headers
where they're getting a lot of their bench players and they're not they're not watching these
balls they're not working the count and it's hurting them right now then Duncan up now in the
nine spot center fielders made a couple good plays out there the OO finds his own great pitch there
from Paulo a one now one out top of six charges up
out four trying to maintain the lead.
Paulo inside ball one.
One ball one strike, one out.
Like we said, only one hit for the Saints.
Haven't been able to manufacture much offense.
When they did have that double, they got doubled up at second base.
Palo's pitch to the shortstop.
No, Rocco, what a play at third base.
Did he get him?
Lehman stretches for it, and he's called safe.
Great play there from Rocco to get it, flip his feet and fire one to Lehman.
But a great job running it out from Ben Duncan, the speedy center fielder.
Still, what a hustle play from Rocco.
I mean, that's the type of player he is.
That mentality he brings to the field, even as a younger guy.
I mean, diving for that ball.
And he can see he's a little upset up there that he didn't get it.
But still, you got to recognize hustle when you see it.
This could be a great opportunity for the Saints.
Their second hit, and now they restart the order with AJ Energer.
Enger working the second base, 5-8 senior from Hamilton, Ohio.
Apollo's first pitch is in there for a strike,
attacking the hitters early.
the count and again a double play would be huge there's been three of them early in this one paulo on the
o one watching duncan closely on the outer half and he finds the corner great frame there from mallard
and it's now o two of the chance to get a punch out would be his third of the game and a great
opportunity for a double play as well kick steals fires out or half malard framed it again
great pitch there kept it away from the hitter but it's called a ball one two now
It seemed like the exact same spot.
I'm not going to fall for it twice on that frame for Mallard.
Paulo, watching the base runner ripped into the outfield.
Great hit there for Manager.
They got runners on first and second with one out.
Great hit there, taken the other way from Manager, finds a gap.
Paulo getting attacked for the first time in this inning.
Yeah, first sticky situation for him.
I want to see what he's going to do to get out here.
Obviously, double play ball ends the inning here,
and I can imagine he's going to attack the lower part of the zone.
tough guy to go against Gavin Vogelsang the senior running the third base corner for them
find his first hit of the night.
Paulo one out, below count.
Outside ball one.
And the bullpen now for the Chargers getting a little bit of activity.
As we said, Paulo.
They're going to take a little second here.
Great job for Millard to kind of calm down his pitcher.
No reason to get the coach involved.
But Malar just wants to talk to him and say, hey, we get a double play.
you're out of the inning, no reason to press, no reason to walk a batter, because then you walk them
and then you lead them right into their third hitter, Miguel Carrera, who is their best
hitter. Yeah, exactly. And I feel like for Pauley's been playing such a good game, and you can see
them talking right now, giving each other a fist bump. These guys, they got the chemistry there,
and it was only a short meeting there before Millard's already heading back, but, you know,
these guys have such great chemistry and it's been shown so far. I imagine he might, he's probably
going to get out of this inning pretty easily. Yeah, that's a great job from the catcher to
recognize that your pitcher's missing his spots a little bit.
Take a second, regroup.
You have time to do so.
You may as well do it.
One ball, no strikes, one out.
Runners on first and second here.
Chargers up four.
Hollow kicksteels, fires outside, misses again.
Mallard trying to calm him down.
Two-0 count.
Can't afford a walk here and load the bases with Correa looming on deck.
I could only imagine something like Correa who leaves the team in home runs too.
2-0 can't find the zone again from Paulo 3-0 now and if they do elect to go to the bullfirm for the charges this is a tough situation to inherit exactly but i mean that's what you do as a relief pitcher you're coming in those sticky situations let's see what palo he's here 3-0 is in there great job finding the zone 3-1 now working his way back taken all the way up here for volus saying but if you're the saints you do want to be aggressive if he leaves one over the front of the plate you have to be willing to attack as this is your best chance so far inside walked him
Ball four bases are now juiced for Miguel Correa Jr.
Only a freshman, but he has been fantastic.
Yeah, exactly.
This is the exact guy you want in this situation.
And nothing to bring anyone from the bullpen.
They're going to let Palo try and figure this out for himself.
Double play ends it.
You can have a force at any base.
The O-O count one out.
Kix Steel's fires.
Great job there from Paulo to fire one in there.
Now up O-1.
Takes a lot of guts to just go right out of guy with bases loaded.
figured he was taken all the way there great job from Paulo inside there ball one one one
count now and what you don't want is you don't want to walk a runner in you do not want that
that gives so much momentum keeps the bases loaded for their four hitter shortstop
carea up here one one outside great job from alar to try to frame it back in there ump
does not fall for it to one now one out chargers up four this game could turn on its head here
quickly at top six
on base percentage around 500.
I mean, this is a sticky situation.
Apollo kicks steals, fires the 2-1 to the first base line, gets through past layman.
Runner's going to go.
Will they score two?
They will.
Great throw home from Hutchinson.
No contest at the play to now.
We have a game.
It's 4-2, Saints with two RBIs there from the Karea single.
And what's been a quiet day?
Now changes quickly, as you said, 4-2 now.
and for the Chargers, you got to get out of this one.
You've got to hope for a double play now,
because I mean, any more in this game becomes a little too close for comfort.
Up now, the four-hitter Gunnar Kalatov playing first base, the righty.
Paulo here.
Throws back to get Correa doesn't get him, and he's been trying to get him all night.
Correa, as we mentioned, a great base dealer, and there's kind of a cat-and-mouse game here.
You can't throw down too fast because the runner will get a free chance at home.
Kick-Steels, fires.
There's great job.
Finding the zone again with that fastball up.
O-1.
And a strikeout here would be huge because then you just need one out no matter what base.
Because a fly ball here that's deep enough will score the runner,
making a run-run game.
Apollo here, 0-1, 1-out.
4-2 Chargers, low 1.
Great job from Lara to control.
It doesn't want to let in a run there.
Now it's 1-1.
And that's what he does.
Great catcher right behind the base there.
1-1-Corea on first.
One-out, top 6 here.
Pollo finds it, rolls it over a chopper.
Runner's going home and great play there from Pollo to recognize the runner is going home,
tags him out and there's two outs now.
Runner does get safely at first.
Runner's on first and second, but now there is two outs and no run scored.
It would almost seem like a terrible situation.
Palo just was able to corral the bouncing ball, which was high,
and then able to have the smarts to see him coming and tag him out.
Now up to hit the D.H. Derek.
Maranucci with a chance.
Any base hit will score the runner from second.
The OO.
Great hit from Marinoucci.
Finds the gap into the left field.
That's going to score one run.
They cut it off here to second.
Able to stop it and a great rip from Marinoucci on the first pitch of the AB.
And now it is four to three chargers lead only to one in a tough inning.
And coach Tom Vasella has seen enough.
Yeah.
And I agree with him.
It's about time.
It's bringing a bullpen guy who's fresh.
It just needs one out.
That's the thing is now he doesn't have a situation where basically the loaded is.
Runners on the corners after the Marinucci single RBI,
but they will walk out to the mound and talk about it here.
I'm assuming they will go to the bullpen.
Like we said, just need one out if you're this bullpen guy coming in,
not sure who it'll be, but you need one out.
And then you still have that lead and the chargers with their meat of the lineup coming up.
Yeah, exactly. I can only imagine what this bullpen guy is thinking right now.
Are they keeping them in?
Looks like they're going to keep Paulo in.
Coach is confident in him. He says, get out of this inning, and we will be fine.
Three runs in this inning. All the offense, six hits,
five of the six hits have been in this inning.
Apollo is going to stay out there and he has to face number 11 Riley.
Potts had who did have the only hit for a while with that double into the gap.
Yeah, exactly.
That just has to show the trust between these players and coaches right now to leave a guy who is in a situation like this.
Pitcher probably told him that he wants to get out of this inning.
The O-O to Pottsat in there for a strike after the mound visit.
Great job to get back up in the count 01 now.
It's a chance to get out of the inning.
Get three from Hill's goal to three with the Chargers coming to the point.
A charge of your Hillsville College baseball team is back in action at the Londonvilleville.

Hello, and welcome back.
You are listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM Charger Baseball.
Sorry for the cut out there at the end of the inning.
But we did get out of it.
A great play.
They caught Marinoucci in the pickle, stepped off the mound there,
and they were able to get the out at second,
so not even a chance to swing the bat.
And now Zach Ken is leading off the inning.
And last time we saw this, ripped a double.
Grimmelsman still is.
for the Saints.
Yeah, and obviously in these double-header games, seven-eighting,
you're hoping right now as someone like Zach Kent,
just add some insurance.
Let's get something to wear Palo or whoever comes in can feel safe on the mountain.
Grimmelsman's first pitch to Kent outside.
They're going to call it a strike there.
They're able to find the corner of the plate 0-1 now for Kent,
who as we said scored that huge double and then was able to come home
and he has two runs on the day on a walk and a double.
high fly ball there from ken on the off speed should be an easy play for vogel set at third and it is
Kent wanted that one across the top of the plate able to foul it off it appeared but then it found
its way back into fair play voe said makes the play one out now for grimalsman was a good look there
just got under it a little bit too much that Kent might be kicking himself in the duck out
will layman now with the home run four runs to three grimalsman kicks steals fires
the O-O and attacking early is Lehman foul ball.
O-1 now.
And that's something as a batter you see.
I mean, when you start the game with a home run,
you think you can take on anything,
and he's been hot tonight.
Lehman playing great defense.
And as we mentioned, that deep fly ball,
the two-run bomb, him and Kent scoring.
Chargers need a little bit of insurance
after great momentum from the Saints' last inning,
scoring three runs.
Great hit there, into the outfield,
and another hit from Lehman, a single to left field.
Attacking that off-speed pitch early.
Grimmelsman throwing it and he's starting to find more and more of the plate.
Lehman notices that and swings at two early ones and able to find the outfield there for a base knock.
Little double-edged sword.
Like you said, he finally finds the control to find the zone and then Lehman makes him pay for it.
Great job there from Lehman, the freshman who's played great on offense and defense.
On first now, one out.
Grimelsman versus Hutchinson, the right fielder.
Look like it might have been a strike, but the catcher kind of had to jump up thinking that
that Lehman might take off, rare from a first basement to steal,
but they got their eyes on them.
Though, or the 1-0 count to Hutchinson,
who has an RBI single in this game way outside,
and that's going to be a pass ball.
Layman going to be standing up there at second.
Now you have a runner in scoring position.
Great job there, awareness from Lehman to take off,
and a wild one, and Grimelsman kind of feeling it.
Bullpen is loose for Thomas Moore.
That was that off-speed pitch early.
Not able to find the zone.
Now a 2-0 count for Hutchinson,
who as we said does have an RBI single.
Yeah, exactly.
It got his buddy in last time,
and now it's just a prime situation
where he can knock another one in and have a great day.
Hutchinson gets the 2-0 inside ball three now.
Great job from Hutchinson.
Like you said, you get that RBI.
You kind of are a little antsy want to get another one,
but great patience.
3-0 count now with one-out, run around second.
Charges up 4-3 here, bottom 6.
Kremel's been here working through the whole game early.
Great match up here.
Inside low.
Great job from Hutchinson to watch.
Watch it. Now, Chargers do have two runners on and they're going to have a little mound visit with Grimmelsman.
I think this might be his outing.
Well, that's what we thought for the past two times, but they haven't brought him out.
They've been letting them play.
Don't want to really use that bullpen.
Maybe they're saving that for the second game of this double header.
Yeah, and it is just the catcher that came out for the meeting, so it doesn't appear as if they're going to pull them.
Great job there from the catcher to stay patient and kind of just calm them down.
Double play ends the inning, but you do have to face Will Millard, the sophomore catcher who great defensively, had a great R.
I yesterday. See what he can do here with runners on first and second one out here, bottom six.
The best thing about having a catcher up to plate in this situation is that he knows the zone.
I mean, he is a guy who just gets walked a bunch, 13 times so far this season.
Crimin's kind of been a little wild here in this sixth inning.
Steels, fires on the first pitch, can't find the zone there, 1-0.
And a walk here would be huge on deck for the Chargers is number 16.
guard Swenson, a freshman who is, he's a lefty, he's done a great job early in this season.
The one oh able to find the zone there from Grimsman, get back on track, one one now, one out.
As we said, runners on first and second, Hutchinson and the layman.
Heart, wrist brace there comes loose. He's going to take a second.
Reorganize things as he knows how important this AB is, trying to help out whoever that closer is for the chargers,
who will be working.
Cloudy Day here.
4-3 lead for the Chargers, both teams six hits.
Germelsman spikes it and I think he hit him.
Pass ball and the Chargers will advance.
Second and third now, which is completely different
than first and second.
No double play naturally.
And it did not hit him.
It looked like it might have hit Millard,
but it skipped before him.
Didn't hit him.
And Millard will stand in there now with the 2-1.
And a single here would be.
be huge probably scoring two with
Hutchinson with pretty good speed
doesn't have a lot of steals but an outfielder for them
outside finds it
now the two two evens it up with
one out and the worst thing you can do here
from Lard is strike out. Yeah you can't do it
get something out there get it in play
at least let your base rudders decide if they want to take one home
a deep fly ball can score a run here from
Mallard and he plunked him this time
Mallard stares down the bench
and loves it takes the head
and Grimmelsman's arm appears to be bothering
him. He has thrown a lot of pitches in this game.
He's done an all right job of getting out of jams.
The biggest one of the night now, and I think Coach Martin has seen enough going to bring in a
closer here because they know they have an opportunity to win this game.
They were probably trying not to have him face if their closer is a righty.
You don't want them to face a lefty like Swenson.
We'll see who they bring out of the bullpen.
But pretty good outing overall from Grimmelsman.
Had a couple tough situations got out of them.
But whoever has to inherit this one is in for a fun ride as it is.
Base is juiced, one out, bottom six.
Coming in out of the bullpen, tough to see who it is as of now,
is he's going to get the ball and hope to show it off.
He is a lefty, so that is a good matchup, bringing him against Swenson.
Yeah, good timing there.
I do just want to say for Millard, after getting hit by pitch,
that's his 10th on the year.
So he's leading the squad.
He's willing to take those pitches and get on base.
Warming up now.
Tough to see who that is for Thomas Moore.
It is a lefty.
Pearson number 32.
That would be Aaron Witchman, the 5-9 freshman from Burlington, Kentucky.
And this is quite the situation to inherit as a freshman.
Yeah, exactly.
You've got to have a lot of poise here,
and you've got to realize you're in college baseball right now,
and these guys know how to hit a little bit better.
And I imagine if the coach wants to bring him in,
it's because he's got a lot of trust,
because base is loaded situation, only one out.
You hope a fresh guy like this can almost get a ball on the ground,
get a double play and get you out of the inning.
And you have to assume.
this guy hasn't pitched a lot early in this series. So the charges really haven't faced them
as of now. So definitely interesting to see. They don't have a lot of options in their bullpen because
like we said, a 15-0 game you're pitching a lot of guys. Another game yesterday that came to the
wire. I think their starter went the whole way. But still, it is a long stretch of games. And
when you get into playing the same team, you do want to mix it up. And they're going to have to
mix it up here with Aaron Richmond. Yeah, exactly. And taking a look right now,
not the best of times for him as a relief pitcher.
Rocking, he has about eight innings right now with 17 earned runs.
So in a nine-in-a-game, that's about 19 earned runs right now.
But clearly the coach sees something that, you know,
I mean, getting the opposite hands right now on the hitters is good.
And let me see how this plays out.
Yeah, see if he can get a couple big outs.
And like you said, this is a game where both teams,
they've done okay on the season,
haven't had the best to starts.
And this is one that's such in reach, if you were,
the Saints that you do want to put in a guy that you trust,
and obviously they trust them in bases loaded.
One out.
Lehman on third, Hutchinson on first, or on second.
Millard on first, and guard.
Swenson, freshman versus freshman lefty versus lefty.
Doesn't get any better than this with one out.
Got to be a little frustrating as a hitter that they bring in a left-hander
right when you're about to hit.
Kicksteels fires.
First one's low and outside for Witchman.
If Wishman walks him here, this would be huge for the Chargers,
with Billy Poroski on deck who's had a great outing,
offensively and defensively as well, with a couple of hits.
Witchman, Dirt's won again.
Great job from the catcher.
Like we said, you get one passed here.
Lehman is ready to go and take it home.
2-0 count now, whichman taking his time.
He knows the moment.
As we said, if you are a relief pitcher,
this is kind of the life you live.
You have to inherit some tough situations.
This is one of them.
Yeah, Swenson, though, he looks comfortable in there.
This is the situation he wants to be in.
2-0-1-out, kick-steels, fires across the plate.
able to find it kind of looks like one that Swenson was probably taken all the way there
looked like a good pitch to hit didn't want it to 1 count now because if you do walk one in that
is huge so you're staying patient at the point yeah exactly just can't hit into a double play here if
you're Swenson the 2-1 what a pitch there the off speed gets Swenson swinging 2-2 now huge play
there and if he gets and if he gets a strike out here what that would do for the Saints momentum-wise
is huge the two two one out
Huge pitch in this ball game.
Wichman kicks steals fires, but Swenson takes it right back where it came from,
finds a gap and that'll score one.
Hutchinson coming around for two.
He's in safely and a two RBI single for the freshman guard, Swenson.
Wow, that is a clutch moment from Swenson.
To get around there on a two-two pitch to shove one into the gap?
I mean, wow.
Great job from the defense from the Saints to kind of cut it off and not allow more runs.
But that gets Mallard to second.
Guard Swenson on first.
Now Billy Poroski up with one out.
And a chance against the lefty, which he's seen all night.
Poroski here with a chance to extend that lead as it is six to three now.
Kix Steels fires, first ones in there.
Great pitch there from Wichman.
As we said, he struggled as a reliever early in this season,
but only a freshman getting a good opportunity to grow.
But a tough situation there, and Swenson takes it right back up the middle.
Witchman inside almost hit Poroski
Another great play by the catcher to get in the way of that one
Because you do not want that opportunity where the charges are on second and third
Because the double play's kind of out of play
Right now with double play you're out of the inning
I know it is six to three but the damage is limited
Yeah exactly and you know with the last inning how it went for the Saints
I mean their bats are swinging right now let's keep this game somewhat close
Whichman way outside can't find one two one one out
Whichman kind of a shorter pitch or something you don't
often see but
appears to have some decent
stuff here early as the Chargers
ahead of the Count Poroski 2-1,
one out. Witchman
kicks deals,
fires inside. Paraski
takes it high fly ball to left field
warning track wall looking up, it's
out of here. What a home run
from Billy Paroski, the freshman
and the Chargers clear the bases
with a bomb. Wow, do you want to talk
about insurance to take that one
to left again, both home runs to left
That one cleared the wall by a decent amount.
Paroski, not a big guy for the Chargers, only standing in at 5-11-175,
but showed a little bit of pop there as he takes one over the 3.30 wall,
and the Chargers have expanded that lead up to 9 to 3.
Yeah, wow, and that's his first home run of the year, and what a situation to do it in.
And his career as a freshman, so Aaron Jasek now up, and he'll take one right back up the middle.
Easy play there for Correa.
He'll get the out.
Quick work there from Wichman.
as he responds with an out on Jessick,
but now he has to face the top of the order.
I know this game looks like an easy one for the Chargers to win.
Nine hits, nine runs, but now he has faced Tyler Sowers,
and he's looking another freshman to get a big opportunity.
Exactly.
I mean, a guy who has had a good game so far,
I mean, got picked off once at first base.
Pitch, Sowers, high fly ball to right field.
Should be an easy play, and it is for McLean.
Whichman gets quick two outs on two pitches,
but the charges expand the lead to 9 to 3.
You're headed to the bottom of the 7th,
or top of the 7th, excuse me,
you're listening to Radio for Yieldsdale 101.7 FM.
Charger baseball. I'm Gordy. I'm Brian.
This is The Making of America
from the Jefferson Media Group.
Ulysses S. Grant,
farmer, soldier, commander of all
Union forces, General of the Army
and President of the United States
is remembered for many things.
But did you know, following
the Civil War, President Johnson,
wanted Robert E. Lee tried for treason and executed.
It was his former adversary Ulysses S. Grant who came to his aid and saved his life.
As president, Grant reunited the country and was the first to appoint former slaves and Jews to high-ranking government jobs.
And if you ever wondered what the S. in Ulysses S. Grant stands for, it stands for nothing.
He just thought U.S. Grant looked good in print.
This has been the Making of America.

Hello and welcome back.
You are listening to Radio Freelstale 1.1.7 FM, Georgia baseball.
Chargers with a huge offensive output in that inning facing Grimmelsman and then Witchman.
Great job to get nine runs on the board.
And that not only is that big for the lead and you're comfortable, saves you a pitcher in the bullpen.
Apollo coming back out for the bottom of the top of the seventh.
And that's huge because you've an opportunity to save one of your pitchers in a long home stretch
where you don't want to throw too many arms if you don't have to.
He does have a tough task ahead of him facing Riley Pottsin who did rip a double on him earlier in this game.
Yeah, exactly.
But big thing here, that's the first pitch is a ball.
Is that, you know, if he can limit it here, he won't have to face Correa, their hitter, their main guy.
and hopefully he thinks this can be an easy time to get him out of the game.
The 1-0 pitch is in there for a strike.
Apollo, as we said, allowed six hits, three earned runs on the day,
but pretty steady night from him.
Kiksteel's fires, second one, or third one is in there for a strike up,
one, two again.
He's done a great job of getting them down in the count.
They don't take a lot of pitches, but when they do,
they have been strikes, which is unfortunate.
That pitch is low and behind Millard.
rare to see him drop one like that
yeah exactly right between the legs there
a little unfortunate
2-2 count
trying to have a complete game here from paolo
kick steals fires the 2-2
in his third k of the night
catches him swinging on the outer half
riley pot said goes down swinging and one out
charges are two away from a victory
against thomas more
Paulo showing a lot of poise to come back out again
i will say i mean his pitch count seems a little low
right now i mean he hasn't really these innings have been quick
other than that unfortunate sixth inning for him.
Apollo has to face Noah McLean now.
The right fielder for the Saints.
First pitch is in there for a strike.
Trying to work his way.
There's no reason to not be aggressive.
Save your arm and just attack these batters up six here.
Kix steals, fires outside.
Ball 1-1-1 count now.
Like we said, two home runs tonight from two freshmen,
and that is exciting for the future as a Charger fan.
Exactly.
I can only imagine what they're going to do with these guys.
Apollo there almost caught one on the chin
Reeves a sigh of relief there
on a great rip there from Noah McLean up the middle
and he'll get on base with a single
Yeah time that one up perfectly
And as a batter when you're able to hit one right up the middle like that
I mean that was just a great at bat
So you got to do to hopefully start manufacturing something
And as it gets sort of the desperation time for the Saints
Runner on first one out, Paulo kicks steals fires to the catcher Ashley
first one's in there for a strike
Chad Ashley, behind the plate.
Did a great job blocking all night.
See if you can find someone with the bat.
Paulo gets him to swing on the high cheese.
Great pitch there.
Now up 02.
This is when you attack.
Double play ends this game.
Chargers walk out of here with a huge victory.
See what Paulo has here.
The O2.
Just a little bit outside.
Millard tries to frame it.
No dice.
One two count.
Ashley and the bottom of the order.
up here for the Saints.
Runner on first,
Paulo foul ball there.
Off the batter.
Great pitch there from Paulo trying to put him away.
As we've seen from Ashley tonight,
I mean, when he swings the bat,
I mean, he looks like he's swinging for the yard every single time.
Yeah, home run here obviously cuts the lead a little bit.
But if you're Paulo, you attack him,
you get out of this game, have a complete game,
only allowing three runs, that's pretty solid.
Yeah, especially for him who's struggled a little bit,
as we said earlier in the program.
Great pitch there.
on the outer half gets him to swing again.
Ashley playing a little bit of defense here,
down one, two, and the count follows another run off
as we reset here.
Runner on first is McLean.
Great pitch there.
Did he go?
He did.
Great high pitch there and a little smile there from Paulo.
Got him to go halfway and it was enough for the strikeout
his fourth second in the inning.
Exactly.
Being aggressive when you're up like this,
such a smart move.
complete this complete game. You save your
bullpen for the second game of the double header
and you really just feel good.
Powell doing your job. Ben Duncan
now, the ninth hitter.
Up, first one's in there. Great pitch
on the inner half. A strike and again
attacking. Just needs one out to end this
ball game. Fun one here
in the mid-afternoon for the Chargers.
The O'1, fouled away up by us there.
Hits the fence.
It's the netting, protecting the fans.
This beautiful field that was put in place here
for the Chargers and now one strike and we're out of here.
Paolo can he get his third of the inning?
Can he have the perfect inning with strikeouts?
Gets him to swing and he barely files it off.
Didn't even know he really touched it there.
Would have been a unfortunate situation as it was dropped regardless but it does
appear it was tipped the O2, two outs.
Paulo for the complete game, kicks deals, fires outside.
One two.
Like we said, Paulo doing his job here only allowing three runs.
but the Chargers' offense explodes in the sixth inning along with that first inning.
The one, two, Apollo to close out the game.
Chopper to JASIC, he'll throw it over to Parowski.
That'll do it.
Chargers seal off a victory on a great play and a complete game from Paulo,
home runs from Lehman and Poroski, and a fun one here.
Chargers close it out with a victory 9-3 to 3.
Thank you guys for listening to you.
