Starting point is 00:00:01 Welcome to the Lived and Learned Show. This is your host, Grace Novak, sharing tips on how to have a successful life from practiced experts. Today, we're learning the secret to thriving in the midst of turmoil. Elizabeth Elliott, born 1926, died 2015, was a Christian woman who was famous for her story of mission work with her husband, Jim. Jim and Elizabeth graduated from Wheaton College and moved to Ecuador to serve as missionaries and raise their baby daughter. At age 28, while attempting to make contact with local tribes, Jim and four other missionary men were brutally murdered by the native tribesmen. Newly widowed, Elizabeth returned to that tribe with her daughter to continue the mission work she and her husband had started. The people were so amazed at this gesture of forgiveness that many came to Christ.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Elizabeth spent her life speaking, writing, and continuing this mission work. A very useful principle in my life, do the next thing. So in summary, you should trust where God is taking you and set out to intentionally do the right thing with the circumstance you are in right now. Do the next thing, as Elizabeth Elliott says. Keep putting one foot in front of the other and walk down the step that God is placing in front of you. This has been lived and learned with Grace Novak. Tune in next time for more success-granting advice on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
