Starting point is 00:00:00 Game day is here. The players are ready. The fans are ready. This is Charger football. Ruddy's standing at his own 35. He's initially hit at the 35, but they got room. He's going to go. He's a 50.
Starting point is 00:00:16 One end up beat. See you later. Touchdown Chargers. Cook back to fast. He's set to the back field. Badger again. Drake Badger. On the sack, receives it at the Charger.
Starting point is 00:00:28 He has some room in a burst of. Speed makes the kick and miss. 15, 30, 20, 15, 10. Touchdown, Chargers. Chargers are thrown 26. McCurn and the gun, Gishu. And it's a, no, it's not a game. It's not thrown to Rattie.
Starting point is 00:00:43 It's caught up to 45. He's to the 40. 35, 30, 20, 15, 10, 5. Touchdown. Chargers. Gillsdale Charger football starts now. Ladies and gentlemen,
Starting point is 00:01:14 at this time, we ask you please stand. Gentlemen, please you have your hats and direct your pictures of Welcome in to Frank Moneywater Stadium on the beautiful campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Ferringer, alongside me is a new color commentator for the 2026 football season. My brother, Frank Ferringer, but before we get started, we're going to have the playing in the national anthem. It's the first game of the 2026 season for Charger football is McKendree. The university comes to Hillsdale, Michigan. And this year, folks, is it the year?
Starting point is 00:02:01 Chargers can finally break through, accomplish their goal of winning the G-MAC, and making it to the D-2 playoffs. Now, on the field, we've got some impact players on the Chargers side. You're going to want to keep your eye on. And it all starts with number one, Shea Ruddy out of Temperance, Michigan. It's true. She's a good kid. fast kid. Dangerous when he gets the ball. Definitely a player to watch. A lot of hype surrounding him
Starting point is 00:02:29 in preseason campus. NFL scouts have been coming to practice to keep an eye on the temperance kid. Maybe with a good season at Charger football, he could have a chance to maybe transfer to a division one program and then possibly the league. But right off the bat after watching Phil. and calling Charger home football games for the last three years. He really reminds me of Christian McCaffrey. He really does. You know, when he gets the ball, he's got the side-to-side movement of McCaffrey. And if you watch their highlights, they're pretty similar players.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Another name on the Chargers side that you're going to hear a lot of this season is Todd Kerrico. Out of Owensboro, Kentucky, dynamic wide receiver. They kind of play Ruddy in the backfield. Play as a quarterback on the Wildcat formation. He'll line up in the slot. Carrickos more of that kind of outside receiver type, one-on-one type speed, great hands, and he's just a tough football player. So now we're getting set for opening kickoff. McKendry will kick it away. And back deep to receive standing at his own five is ruddy. Jonathan Metzger standing at the Charger 10.
Starting point is 00:03:51 if I'm a Kendry here, I am not kicking it to number one. Keep the ball away from Ruddy. We will see what happens. Ruddy last season with three kickoff returns for touchdowns. One of the best division two kickoff returners in the game. So here we go. And we're underway here at Frank Muddywater Stadium, filled by Metzger at the 15, running left.
Starting point is 00:04:21 some nice room. Hit down to the 38-yard line. So on Trots, Colin McCurnin and company, McCurnin, a senior out of Brighton, Michigan. He was the starting quarterback last year. From what we've heard from some of our friends on the football team, they might be doing more of a dual quarterback play here at this game,
Starting point is 00:04:48 rotating time with. Eli Boyce. But right now, McCurnan has the first series of the game. McCurton in the gunning. Gishu to his left, Ruddy to the near side. Metzger, Skura to the far, to give to Gishu. No, it's a fake to Gishu. It's a give out to Ruddy in the boundary, caught by him at the 46-yard line.
Starting point is 00:05:10 So it's a gain of about six on the first throw of the 2026 season. A little RPO there at the beginning of the game. Yeah, nice. get the boys warmed up. Shea's already got a catch, so this will be good. Slow huddle here. Now, McCurn in under center, second down and three. Balls of the Charger, 46. Inguishu in the backfield, stand and ruddy to the near side to give to Angishu running left. He makes a nice move across midfield and down into Bearcat territory.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Some explosive running there from the sophomore from Texas. Had nearly 800 yards rushing last year. Really, really great freshman, now sophomore. So just such a good young player for this charger team to kind of depend upon in a really senior heavy team. McCurton in the gun, he shoots who is right. First down in 10, balls to the bear cat, 44. It's a quarterback run all the way. Power right.
Starting point is 00:06:14 McCurney gets out to the 40-yard line and there's a flag on the field at the 42. I think that's going to be a horse collar. Horse collar tackle for McKinery. Now, we didn't really give a preview of McKendry. They entered today's game. O-N-1, they had a tough loss last week against Saginaw Valley State. A brand-new quarterback, sophomore from East St. Louis. Dynamic guy.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Last week, 19 for 34, almost 300 yards, throwing in three touchdown. So we'll keep an eye on him when he leads McKinjury out on the field for the offensive drive. But right now it's all chargers. McCurnan in the gun, Ingey to his left, two receivers to the near side, and Carico in Metzger. First down in 10, ball at the McKindry, 25. It's a give to Ingeyu, up the middle, and he gets about three on the play. So a nice initial push there from the charger offensive line. Jesse Mendoza, one of the captains for this Chargers squad will definitely be the leader on that offensive line, a fifth year senior. Ethan Josah will also be an impact guard for that offensive line.
Starting point is 00:07:31 McCurnan in the gun, Ingey, too is right, second down in seven, ball at the McKindry, 22. It's a throwout to Davis and the first down for the Chargers. All the way down to the 12-yard line. Colin Davis and Andrew Kinesny will be your two mainstays at the tight end position. Colin Davis out of Lenois, Christian, and Michigan. Also, I know Colin Davis personally. He's a head R.A. at the suites. No, check that.
Starting point is 00:07:59 He's house director. First down in 10. Ball at the Bearcat 12. McCurnan, in the gun. Gishu, two is right. It's a giving Gishu up the middle. and he gets to the 10-yard line. A couple yards there, good run.
Starting point is 00:08:20 So far, it's charger dominance in the trenches. Davis checks out. Kerrico checks in. Luke Stan is another name to keep an eye on. Super Athletic, 6-4-215 wide receiver for the Chargers. He's kind of that outside wide receiver threat. He jogs out to the. the near side with Stanton, Carico, and Ruddy.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Second down in a ball to Barricat 10, give Anguishu running left. Great block from Ruddy. And Ingeesu gets down inside the five. Spotted at the four-yard line. Chargers looking to draw first blood. Yeah, so far. It's been a very good drive for the Chargers here. Positive yardage on every play.
Starting point is 00:09:11 So now we have a new quarterback checking in. for the Chargers. I believe that's Eli Boyce, more of a running threat for the offense. He will now be at quarterback. Third down, end goal. Balls at the two-yard line. It's a quarterback. Keep up the middle all the way, and it's very nearly a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:09:39 First down. They're going to be spotted, spotted just short. Check that it was not a third down and goal. This will now make it a first down and goal at the half-yard line. Chargers taking their time now. Hudling at the five-yard line. Man, that O-Line's getting some really good push on this Bearcat defensive line. Eye formation.
Starting point is 00:10:03 McCurnan, under center. Inkeshoe is the running back. And reaching for the goal line. And he's just short. One down my number 50. Lively. Femnonal play there by the linebacker for the
Starting point is 00:10:23 Bearcats and one of the leaders on their defense, Nick Bova, 6-2-15. 215-pounder, that middle linebacker's spot. Let the team in tackles last year, and he'll be a leader for this Bearcat defense. It's high formation, second down and goal. Ball at the Bearcat 1.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Gingu and Gishu running. right at the one yard line it's going to set up a third down and goal. In these situations, you just have to see a QB sneak. It works 96% of the time. So they say. I'm always watching football games and sometimes I just am shocked that the quarterback sneak is not used more. Eye formation, it is a QB snake.
Starting point is 00:11:13 And it is a touchdown for the Chargers. And the first offensive drive of the 2026 season is a resounding success. Chargers marched straight down the field and score their first touchdown. Sideline reporting on the kids' bench. reporting. Sideline warning, rather, for the Chargers side. Pretty hyped up about that first series for the offense. They look phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:11:55 On to kick the extra point. Braden Childs out of Brighton, Michigan. He had some injuries in the past, but he's now the place kicker for the Chargers, a junior. We'll see if you can make this a seven-point lead. Snap, good, hold good. Kick is up. And it's good. Good kiss there.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Hillsdale 7. McKindry, not that you're listening to Charge your football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7. I'm Ariel McDowell here with a word to the Y. Tune in for more at Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Hillsdale College students earned two first place honors at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System College Media Awards in New York City. Erica Kaiba won best specialty show. Frank Ferringer. So if you're just tuning in, the Chargers, led by Colin McCurnan, marched straight down the field for the first drive of the 2026 season and scored. So Chargers lead McKindry 7 to nothing.
Starting point is 00:13:59 And now we will take a look at the first drive of this game for the McKindry offense led by their sophomore quarterback Kendrick Lions. As I already stated before, he threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns last week. So super efficient quarterback for the baseball. for the Bearcats. 906 left in the first quarter to give up the middle. And the Bearcat running back gets all the way out to the 34-yard line. I believe that's Jerry Richardson, 5-875-pound junior. Really tough runner for this McKindry squad.
Starting point is 00:14:43 It's a second down in one. ball at the Bearcat, 34, 835 left in the first quarter. Lions, play action, looking, looking, throws caught. Quincy Hall brings it past midfield, finally brought down by Colin Morrow at the 45-yard line. Really nice play action there. It's more of an RPO, rather, right through that cover two defense. And Hall, hauled it in. Yeah, the bear cats are moving down the field right now rather quickly.
Starting point is 00:15:21 So first down in 10. Ball at the charger, 45. Lions in the gun. Hall to his right. Lions looking left, throws caught by Hall. And he's escorted out of bounds by Shenovie at the 40-yard line. That's a gain of five. So far, the first two throws for Lions, he's two for two.
Starting point is 00:15:44 He's got some arm talent. That ball's moving with some rotation. Second down in five. Ball to charge her 40. Lions in the gun. Richardson to his left. Two receivers to the far side. Two to the near.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Screen pass out in the flat. And to first down. Johnson with the grab and he's going to convert for the bear cats. And fresh set of downs for McKindry. First down in 10, ball at the 30-yard line. Hillsdale 7, McKendry Nuffin, the Bearcats trying to tie this ball game up. The leader of that charger defense, Jacob Vance, led the team in tackles last year, trying to rally his boys to get a stop.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Lions, it's a give to Richardson running left. And he's hit down by Panola at the 30. check that 28 rather more substitutions for the bear cats in other news the cornhuskers are playing Ohio right now and Ohio is leading Nebraska 7 to nothing
Starting point is 00:17:04 you might hear a lot of score updates from the booth up here because Frank and I are from Nebraska Lions in the gun second down in seven ball to charge your 27 and give to Richardson running right. And he's hit down by Jonah Jensen. At the 24-yard line.
Starting point is 00:17:31 And that's a third down. Time to make it. Big third down here for this charger defense. Third down and three, ball at the charger 23. McKindry. Currently driving. Lions back to pass. It's shotgun throws and it's caught. But I believe Schenevy's going to tackle the tight end short of the first down.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Lichtenberger with the grab. And that's going to set up a fourth down and won. Sheenevy coming from the opposite side of the field to make that tackle as well. Charger defense were selling out for a run. They went man-demand. Out almost a strong safety against the tight end. You'd think that'd be a matchup, but Chenevy handled the situation well. Fourth down and one, shotgun.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Four lines. It's a give to Richardson up the middle. The ball is momentarily babbled. I think the Chargers stopped them. And they did. Hillsdale defense stands strong. And it's a turnover on downs for the Bearcats. That's exactly what the doctor ordered.
Starting point is 00:18:58 That charger offense, they went stampeding straight down the field, scored seven points, and then the defense, they gave up some yardage, but when the moment counted, they did not break and held strong. So now we've got a new quarterback in the game. It's Eli Boyce. It's going to be first down in 10 for the Chargers at their own 21. 507 left in the first quarter. Boyce back to pass looking for Stanton in the boundary and it's incomplete.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Boyce looked like he floated it there. Eli Boyce brings it good running capability to the quarterback position. We've heard from practice from some of the boys that he has some ridiculous arm talent. So we'll see if you can put that on display here. Second down in 10. Boyce in the gun, Ingeu to his left, three receivers to the near side. Pitch outside to Boyce. No, to Ingeishu rather, it's bobbled by Ingeu at the 15.
Starting point is 00:20:03 He runs to the outside and it's going to be a huge loss. Ingeishu trying to make something out of nothing, bobbled the ball. The ball went flying backwards about five yards. Ingeishu picked it up and went running. to the right side towards the far side of the field, and it's a huge loss. It'll set up a third down and a 22. Balls at the Charger 9.
Starting point is 00:20:32 That's an unfortunate mistake. We'll see if Boyce can convert. Boyce in the gun, Ingeishu to his left, Skura and Ruddy to the nearest side. It's a quarterback run to the left. Charger's going to play it safe. And Boyce hit down at the 14-yard. card line. Man, he got rocked on that play.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Sure did. So an unfortunate mistake there with a bobbled HB toss to Ben and Heshoe. He's going to have Ian Woodhier come on the field for the Chargers
Starting point is 00:21:08 standing at his own goal line to punt this one away. Back deep to receive. For the Bearcats is Quincy Hall. Snap good. Punt is towards the far side. It's going to fall out of bounds. Sail, rather, at the 36-yard line.
Starting point is 00:21:28 So a 36-yard punt is going to set up excellent field position for the Chargers. Any games this week you're excited to watch? I mean, as a part of the Nebraska football cult, I think the first game of the year for Cornhusker football is always the best time. of the year. It's like Christmas. And then by November, your heart is broken and you wait for next year. Well, the Cornhuskers did tie it up
Starting point is 00:22:00 at 7 to 7. So back to Frank Moneywater Stadium. It's first down in 10 for the Bearcats at the Charger 36. Lions in the gun back to pass. Looking, looking, moves up in the pocket to the 35. Evades Panola.
Starting point is 00:22:16 It's finally hit down by Colin Morrow at the 31-yard line. Lions showing here that not only can he throw, he can run too, so that's going to keep the linebackers honest. They can't just drop back into coverage every play. The predicament of the dual threat quarterback has a revolutionized modern college football. Second down in five. Ball at the charger, 31. Lines and pistol.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Richardson behind him. Two receivers to the far side. Motion from Lichtenberg. Lines back to pass. Caught by Lichtenberg. Berger at the 30, but great tackle there by Chona Chenson. The transfer from Air Force Academy, native of Wisconsin. He went to high school at the great football powerhouse.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Brookfield Academy brings him down for a third down and four. Let's see if the Chargers can stop him here like they did last time. Chargers looking for a stop here. the gun. Richardson's who is right. Four receivers in the game. It's a third down and fourth to charge your 30. Lines back to pass. Quick throw. It's caught. First down for the Bearcats. Richards with a great grab there and it moves the chains. That's a 10-yard pitch and catch. And the Bearcats are standing strong here. The offense is doing a really nice job. Great play.
Starting point is 00:23:58 by that McKindry coaching staff. 144 left in the first quarter. Lions in the gun, Richardson to his right. Three receivers to the far side. First down to 10 at the Charger 20. Back to pass, looking left. Throws, he's got a man downfield, and it's caught. Touchdown, McKindry.
Starting point is 00:24:18 Lions throw, beautiful pass over the middle, initially buggled by Quincy Hall. He collects himself and scores. Very interesting. From my angle, it almost looked like he dropped it. Yeah, I guess he heard the footsteps of the safety and got nervous and bumbled it, but it looks like he reeled it in. So on the attempt, the extra point is Herzig for the Barracats to make this the 7-7 games. That good, hold good kick is up, Ben.
Starting point is 00:24:53 It's good. Hillsdale 7, McKindry. 17. 131 left in the first quarter. You're listening to Charger football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. I'm Bill Hemmer, and these are the most impactful moments, an American history. The 19th century marked a period of rapid industrial advancements in the country. Communication, on the other hand, was still moving at a snail's pace. The telegraph was still a new and developing technology, leaving most Americans to rely on physical means to send message, trains, ships, and the good old pony express. But in 1851, everything changed with the foundation of a small telegraph company in Rochester, New York. And that would later become known as Western Union. Western Union developed the vast telegraph network across states. Within a decade of its birth,
Starting point is 00:25:46 Western Union completed the first transcontinental telegraph. But it didn't stop there. Western Union would also develop the stock ticker, a time service. and even the first wire money transfer. For more, go to Fox News Podcast.com. I'm Bill Hammer. Fox News. Welcome back to Frank Muddywater Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Ferringer alongside me's Frank Ferringer.
Starting point is 00:26:12 McKindry tied it up here with Hillsdale. It's 7 to 7. Kick off for the Bearcats. It's received by Ruddy. He's got one man to beat to the 4. 40, go! 15, 10, 5, touchdown! Get that kid of contract! Shea, Rottie, house call.
Starting point is 00:26:41 There is a flag on the field. No, they're going to pick up the flag. And the most dynamic. kickoff specialist in all of D2, just house called. The second kickoff of the game. Childs, Brayton Childs, on to kick the extra points. Sorry, he goes by Childs on campus. I got to say his first name too.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Snap good, hold good, kick is up, then. It's good. Hillsdale 14, McKindry, 7. You're listening to Charger Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. I'm Bill Hemmer. and these are the most impactful moments in American history. December 8, 1980,
Starting point is 00:27:37 marked a dark day from music across the globe. Beneath the arched entrance of the famous Dakota, an apartment building along Manhattan's Central Park West. John Lennon was murdered in cold blood. Mark David Chapman, an isolated and obsessed fam,
Starting point is 00:27:55 fired five bullets from his revolver, four of which struck Lennon. tributes poured in as the world mourned. Fellow Bitos expressed their farewells through song, Paul McCartney with Here Today, and George Harrison with all those years ago. John Lennon was a champion of peace, a symbol of hope, and the voice that dared us to imagine. Though his life was violently taken away, his gifts and contributions to music and culture are still celebrated to this day. I'm Bill Hammer, Fox News. Welcome back to Frank Muddywater Stadium.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Dylan Dadario will kick this one away after a 95-yard kickoff returned by Shea Ruddy for the Chargers. Didario is going to kick this one out of bounds. It's going to have McKendry's setup shot for the third drive of the game for them at the 35-yard line. Man, what an electric play from Ruddy there. I mean, just ridiculous. Received the ball at the Charger 5, running left, got some great initial blocks, and then about midfield, completely juked out the kicker, and then just went streaking down the sidelines for the touchdown. The kid's special. reportedly his unofficial 40-yard dash times of 4-4.
Starting point is 00:29:31 And we saw that on display there. First down in 10 for the Bearcats at their own 35. Lions back to pass. Moves up in the pocket. And the throw falls incomplete quarterback pressure there from Evan Biennick. Yeah, the D-Line did a great job there. He had no room to run, no gaps to run through. Bianic will be an impact player on that defensive line.
Starting point is 00:29:59 As will Drake Badger. Hudson Jones is also rotating through there as well. Injory on the outside for the charges is also an impact player. Second down in 10 for the Bearcats at their own 35. 113 left in the first quarter. Cubey run up the middle and Lines gets to the Bearcat 43-yard line. play call there from McKindry. It looked like the two D-Ns
Starting point is 00:30:30 for the Chargers over pursued, and it opened up for the middle for the sophomore quarterback from St. Louis. Third down and two for McKindry. 43 seconds left and counting in the first quarter. Lines in the
Starting point is 00:30:46 gun. Richardson to his left, motion from Lichtenberger. Two receivers to the far side, one to the near. It's a big third down. here. Play action. Lions throws and it's caught for a first down. Dorel Jones with the grab the tackle by Colin Morrow, but it's not after a huge first and 10 third down conversion for the Bearcats. Durel Jones showing some speed there. really did it. Jones did a nice job of finding the soft spot in that Charger defense and converting for McKindry.
Starting point is 00:31:39 And that's the end of the first quarter of Hillsdale 14, McKinjury 7. You're listening to Charger Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. You're listening to The Making of America. I'm Michael Emerson. You've probably never heard his name, and that's unfortunate. Edward Fitzgerald Beale was born in Washington, D.C. in 1822, from naval officer to Frontier Scout to U.S. ambassador. He served five presidents from Andrew Jackson to U.S. Grant. One of his exploits included running 25 miles barefoot through rocks and cactus to bring relief to early Californians under attack by Mexican troops. In the 1850s, Beale also described.
Starting point is 00:32:27 discovered a shorter and safer travel route from Arkansas to California still used today. You may recognize it as America's iconic highway route 66. Be sure to follow our new Making of America podcast on Apple, Spotify, and your favorite podcast player. Welcome back to Frank Montywater Stadium for the start of the second quarter. Hillsdale leads McHendry 14 to 7. Currently, the bear cats are driving. They're inside a charger territory. Lions in the gun.
Starting point is 00:33:03 Jones in the back field with him. Two receivers to the far side, one to the near. To give, no, it's a quarterback. Keep, and he's sacked in the back field by Luke Panola. It's a loss of five. Lions brought down by Panola. Panola. 45-yard line.
Starting point is 00:33:22 Panola showed blitz there, but no one picked him up. Luke Panola. One of the captains of this team went to the same high school as Ryan Skir at Zionville, Indiana. Just a really tough football player. Had an offer to wrestle at Purdue University but decided to walk on for Charger football and got scholarship. Second down in 15 to throw out in the flat to Jones brought down by Nolan Strait on the play. great job from him. Check that
Starting point is 00:34:02 Coast Davis on the tackle. One of those fifth years, one of the leaders of that secondary for the Chargers. He's going to bring up a third down in 12 for McKinjury. Balls at the Charger 42. McKindry
Starting point is 00:34:22 trying to fight into this seven-point lead for the Chargers. Lines back to pass. Looking, looking across. the middle throws caught. Hall makes a move all the way down inside the 15 yard line. And that's a huge conversion on that third down in 12. Chargers unable to stop these big pass plays here.
Starting point is 00:34:50 The secondary is going to have to figure this one out. On a third down in 12, they played cover two, soft coverage. They were just standing the line to. gain. It's the right defensive call, but you got to be careful about those undercutting routes into those spaces in Hall with two broken tackles converts on the third down. First down and 10 for the Barracats at the Charger 13. Motion from Lichtenberger. It's a give to Richardson up the middle and he's tripped up at the 11. Now we have a new running back in 440.5.
Starting point is 00:35:33 McKindry. They're rotating quite a bit of tailbacks trying to keep them fresh as this game goes on. Second down in eight, ball at the charger 11. Lions in the gun. Richardson to his left. Two receivers to the far side, one of the near. Lions rolling left, throws incomplete, sailed it through the back of the end zone.
Starting point is 00:36:02 That's going to set up a third down in. and eight at the Charger 11. Big third down here. Chargers lead the Bearcats 14 to 7. The defense needs to stand strong here and get a stop. Now Phillips Shaw in it running back for the Bearcats. Lions in the gun. Shot to his left. Motion from Lichtenberger.
Starting point is 00:36:30 Two receivers to the inner side. One to the far. Third down and eight. Ball to Charger 11. Lions back to pass. looking left, now right, avoids a sack and scores. Dual threat quarterback. It's just tough to play defense on.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Lions strolls into the end zone after nearly getting sacked by Drake Badger, and he continues to impress. So Carnine on to kick the extra point. McHendry. 12.05 left in the first half. Snap good, hold good, kick is up, and it's good. Hillsdale 14, McKindry, 14. You're listening to Charger Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:37:29 All week long on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. The more you listen, the more you learn. This is Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Welcome back to Frank Muddywater Stadium. I'm Ted Ferringer alongside me, Frank Ferringer. We're having a great time here on this cloudy afternoon in Michigan. It's Zach Brown Band is echoing across the stadium. What a great band, underrated country band.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Let's see if Ruddy can do it again. So, Car 9, to kick this one away after the Barrett. Cats tied it all up. So it's 14 to 14 between Hillsdale and McKendry. Ruddy and Metzger back teeth to receive. They're going to kick it away from Ruddy, but they kick it to my other impact player. Tut Kariko, who trots it out of bounds at the 35-yard line. Smart run there from Kariko.
Starting point is 00:38:53 Get up the field and get out of bounds. Don't want to risk any contact here. So decent field position for the charge. 12-02 left in the first half. McKinjury 14, Hillsdale 14. We haven't really seen the offense on the field much. But Colin McCurney back in is at quarterback. Shotgun, Ingeu, two is right, three receivers to the far side, one to the nearer.
Starting point is 00:39:23 It's a give to Ingeishu up the middle with a verse to speed and gets across the 40-yard line. Great. Gain on first and 10. You're getting six yards on first down. Makes life pretty simple. Keeps that playbook wide open. I'm really impressed with the Hillsdale O line here. It's getting really good push off the ball. Second down in four. Chargers at their own, 41. McEarne in the gun, Ingeishu to his left, two receivers to the far side. McCurnin. Quick RPO fake. Throws it out to Carson. Slocum but it's dropped. So it's going to bring up a third down and four.
Starting point is 00:40:09 You have to see a run here. I mean, In Gishu, every time he's touched the ball minus that HB toss bobble that lost the charger offense about 15 yards. He's been really excellent so far. So here we go.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Third down and four, ball at the charger. 41. McCurnin in the gun. In Gishu, 2 is right. Ruddy one-on-one. on the nearest side. McCurnan out to pass. Caught first down by Carico and that's going to put the Chargers inside of McKinjoo Territory athletic grab there from. Yeah, Carrico finding a good pocket in the defense there to sit behind the first down. Tud Carico, one of the best student athletes on the campus just ripped a what, 123 on the dental admissions test.
Starting point is 00:41:04 percentile. Smart kid. A lot of smart people on this Charger campus. First down in 10. Hillsdale at their own. 49. McCurnin back to pass. Looking left.
Starting point is 00:41:17 He's got Stanton one-on-one out the boundary, and it's incomplete. Favorable match up there for the Chargers. Stanton probably had five-inch height advantage over the Bearcat cornerback. But the throw is a little too far outside. So second down in 10. 10.37 left in the second quarter. McCurton in the gunning, Gishu to his left. Karakow and Ruddy to the near side.
Starting point is 00:41:52 Play action. McCurnan. Throws incomplete intended for Skura. I'm pretty sure that was fast interference. Yeah, we'll see. Skura's arm was being held. And by the time the ball was to him, He only had one arm to try to catch football.
Starting point is 00:42:10 So that's going to bring up a huge third down and ten here to try to maintain some momentum or at least build it back after a McKinjury drive. That tied this ball game up. Hillsdale 14. McKinjury 14. Huddle here from the Chargers. Third down in 10. Ball at the Bearcat 49.
Starting point is 00:42:32 McCurnin in the gun. Ingeishu to his left. Back to pass is McCurnan looking for Ruddy. He's going to try to run it for the first down and he's going to get it. All the way down to the 39-yard line, boy, was that close. They're not going to give it to him. It's a fourth down here. It's a fourth down in about half a yard.
Starting point is 00:42:57 So he did not convert on that third down in tenny a bit. He got a bit slipped up. And now the charges are going to go for. Fourth down and one. Ball at the Charger, 40, or the Bearcat 40, rather. I formation. QB sneak, Carson Sloan, pushing McCurnan across her a first down. McKeon had the quarterback keeper.
Starting point is 00:43:23 96% of the time. The QB sneak, an underrated play in all of football. So that's going to set up a first down. 10, 9, 31 left in the first half. Hillsdale 14, McKinjury 14. Huddle here for the Chargers. Now it's shotgun. Ingey to McCurnan's left. Now Enkishu moves to McCurnin's right. Ruddy one-on-one in the near side. Stand one-on-one to the far side. Play action. No, to give you Ingishu up the middle and he gets to about the 35-yard line. I have to make sure to mention whenever Ruddy's on the field because there's a good chance if it's one-on-one coverage.
Starting point is 00:44:05 They're going to throw it up to him. Colin Davis checks in. Slokeman-Kinesney check out for the Chargers. Second down in eight. Ball at the Bear Cat, 36, 8-50 left in the second quarter. Hillsdale 14, McKinjee, 14. McCurnin in the gun, Ingeishu to his right. Stanton to the near side, ready to the far. it's a give to him in guichean left and he's going to get about one on the play and guichu calling for a sub and that's going to bring up a third down and seven ball at the mcindry 37 metzger and carico check in would you run it or would you throw it on this down
Starting point is 00:44:56 it's a tough one ted i mean third down and seven McCurnan in the gun. Back to pass. Looking, looking. He's going to move up in the pocket. No, he's going to throw. Caught by Carico with the 22. Makes a man miss.
Starting point is 00:45:16 He's going to score. Touchdown. Chargers. Carrico with a couple good moves there. Wow. Never mess with a Carico when the game is on the line. And that's a good. touchdown for the Owensboro native.
Starting point is 00:45:41 And boy, old boy, is that a huge momentum swing for this Charger squad? Scurro to hold, Childs, to kick the extra point to make it a seven-point lead. Snap good, hold good, kick is up, and it's good. Hillsdale 21, McKindry 14. You're listening to Charger football right here on Radio Freehillsdale. Henry Bill tickets. 13.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Radio Free Hillsdale yet again returns triumphant from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Awards. Our congratulations go out to all of our first place winners. Best Public Service announcements sponsored by the Michigan Human Trafficking Commission
Starting point is 00:46:34 with Luke Miller. Best Sports Feature with Evan Mick, New Rules, Magdalena Solarski. Best Sports cast, four-man front with Lewis Thune, Peyton Hughes, Mark Ayers, and Patrick Hamilton, all here on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome back to Frank Muddywater Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College.
Starting point is 00:47:02 I'm Ted Ferringer alongside me's Frank Ferringer. Hillsdale leads McHendry 21 to 14, 749 left. In the second quarter, Dylan Dadaria to kick this one away for the Chargers. Back deep to receive for the Bearcats is Jones, but it's a touchback. On comes the McKinjury offense led by their quarterback, sophomore quarterback out of St. Louis. Lions has had an excellent game so far. Yeah, let's see if the defense here can step up and stop him. It's been tough.
Starting point is 00:47:36 The dual threat quarterback has been posing some problems for this charger defense. First down in 10 from the kindry at their own 25. Lions in the gun, Richardson, two is right, two receivers. to the far side. One to the near. Motion from Lanktonberger from left to right. Give to Richardson up the middle and he's tackled by Drake Badger.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Richardson gets out to about the 28-yard line. Nebraska Cornhuskers are losing to the Ohio Bobcats 10 to 7. So I don't really know what's going on there. Not good.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Not good. To say the least. Our NIL fund is insane. Second down in seven for McHenry. It's a kiddo Richardson up the middle, and he gets hit down at the 34-yard line. Good stick there by Panola. Wow, what a hard hit. Luke Panola, as I already mentioned, had a chance to go wrestle D1.
Starting point is 00:48:56 and he showed it there. That was an excellent. Just head up. Double-a-tick down there. Putting on a clinic out here. So it's a third down in one. Baltimore, lines in the gun. Richardson, two is right.
Starting point is 00:49:08 One receiver to the far side. One in the near. Motion from their tight end. Third down in one. Moro's showing blitz. It's a gift of Richardson, and Panola stopped him. And the Indiana native says,
Starting point is 00:49:22 No, sir. Setting up a fourth down and short. Oh, wow. Ritch Ginger, one of civil charges in on that stock. Wow, and McKendry's going to elect to punt this one away. And that brings on Shane Ruddy to return this punt, hopefully, to add to this seven-point lead. He's going to be standing at his own 30-yard line. I wouldn't be surprised here if McKendry punts it out of bounds.
Starting point is 00:49:58 The McKinjury punter standing at his own 20. It's a good punt, but Ruddy might have a chance to return this. No, fair caught at the 21-yard line. This is a very good punt there. Wow. A great punt from the Bearcat offense, or from the special teams, rather. And here we go. We'll see if the chargers can add to the seven-point lead. They lead McKendry, 21 to 14.
Starting point is 00:50:28 and now Eli Boyce is back in at quarterback for his second drive of the game. Eli Boyce and for quarterback. 543 left in the second quarter. Boyce in the gun, Ingeu to his left. Stanton and Carrico to the far side. Ruddy to the near. It's a kid doing Gishu up the middle.
Starting point is 00:50:58 to the 30, 35, 40, 45, 50. And Gishu's going to go. 10, 15, touchdown, Chargers. You'd love to see it. Go! Over one. Great run there. It's a house call for the sophomore from Texas.
Starting point is 00:51:23 And the Chargers increased the lead to 13. Ruddy with some good blocking there, downfield. And Braden Child's on to attempt the extra point, scurro to hold. Davis to snap, good hold, good snap. Kick is up and it's good. Hillsdale 28, McKindry 14. You're listening to Charge Your Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:51:53 We all have a story. In this country, holds millions. From the founding to modern day, from small towns to great cities, from citizens to famous leaders. Our American stories shares them all. As host Lee Habib says, America is the star every time. Listen on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome back to Frank Moneywater Stadium. Leads McKendry 28 to 14.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Dylan DeDario to kick this one away. As Jones stands back deep to receive at his own three-yard line. And Jones is going to take this one out, running right, and hit down at the 16-yard line. That's Vince Carrico on the tackle. The younger brother of Tut Carrico, and out comes this charger defense, led by Jacob. Vance and I'm going to add another leader to that defense as well. Another captain Luke Panola has been having an excellent first half. First down in 10 for the bearcats on the bear for the bear cat's at their own.
Starting point is 00:53:42 The bear cats at their own 17 lions throws it out to. Jones in the flat and he's hit down by Ryan Nixa. It's going to be a loss of a couple and set up a second down and long. That was behind his first minute for loss of two to three on the play. Second down, going to be a second down at 12. Five minutes left in this first half. Hillsdale 28, McKendry, 14. Ball is now spotted at the Bearcat 15 yard line. Lions in the gun. Jones to his left. Two receivers to the nearest side.
Starting point is 00:54:22 One to the far. Lions. Back to pass. Looking left. Evades one would-be tackler. And ball intended for Lichtenberger. And it falls incomplete. I think Lichtenberger just dropped it.
Starting point is 00:54:41 I'm really impressed with Lyons' ability to throw on the run. Wow. Lions did an excellent job there, but it's going to bring up a third down and 12. Third down in 12. Third down and 12. McKindry at their own, 15. Lyons in the gun, Jones 2 is right. Three receivers to the nearest side, one to the far.
Starting point is 00:55:08 Motion from Hall from right to left. Lions back to pass, looking, looking, moving left, throws out. in the boundary and looks like their tailback's going to come up just a few yards short. So well done there from that charger defense. It's going to force another punt from McKindry. And another opportunity for Shay ready to try to house call this punt after a kickoff return in the first quarter. There's a good job from the defense there. with some good open field tackles.
Starting point is 00:55:54 I know line men to watch here is Josh Holba coming off an injury from last year. He's looking good today. The offensive line for the Chargers is the topic. I think the theme so far of this first half. It's been just trench dominance from these guys. Second down in eight. Hillsdale at their own 43. 250 left in the first half.
Starting point is 00:56:22 Kernan back to pass looking, looking throws caught all the way down to the fair cat 21 yard line. We've got a new name. Will Simpson, a freshman for the Chargers out of Dexter, Michigan, looking really athletic on that play. Yeah, that's a young kid there making a big catch. Huge play there for the young freshman. And Hillsdale has a fresh set of downs deep into McKindry territory. McCurnan in the gun and Gishu to his left. Carrico to the near side, Ruddy to the far.
Starting point is 00:57:09 McCurnan looking towards Ruddy and it's caught by Shea at the 16-yard line. Time out. And we're going to have a two-minute time out. Well, that gives Frank and I a chance to kind of look at the other matchups across the United States of America. pertaining to college football. Nebraska Cornhuskers are still trailing Ohio. The Ohio Bobcat's 7 to 10. Is it panic time in Lincoln, Nebraska?
Starting point is 00:57:52 Is the sellout streak done? Never. Will it ever end? It will not. Will the Nebraska football mafia ever end? Probably not. But with a new year brings new hope. And so far, it is looking a bit sketchy for these corn Oscars.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Other scores from around the country, Indiana leads North Texas 14 to nothing. James Madison leads Liberty, 7 to nothing. Ohio State leading ball state, 7 to nothing. Alabama up on Eastern Carolina, 10 to 0. So, yeah, those are the scores so far. The big game tonight is LSU Clemson. McCarney, shotgun, quarterback run to the left on a second down and four, fighting for the first down.
Starting point is 00:58:48 Really good pursuit there from the barricade. A lot of bodies flying to the ball. And that will set up a third down in short. So now we've got a new quarterback in the game. Avery Holt, 6-2-20-pound sophomore out of Lakewood, Ohio's in the game. Kind of a quarterback running specialist to try to convert on this third down in two. Chargers at the Bearcat 15, 15-154 left in the first half. Holt in the gun and Gishu to his left.
Starting point is 00:59:25 QB sneak, QB run, rather, up the middle, and Holt's going to convert for the first down, down to the Bearcat 11. Now we have substitution in Moss. Keriko, Holt check out. Davis checks in. McKinjury with a slew of substitutions as well. 137 left in the second quarter.
Starting point is 00:59:49 Hillsdale 28. McKinjury 14. First down in 10. Chargers at the McKinjury 11. McCurnan in the gun, and he shoot to his right. Ruddy and Skira to the far side. It's a quarterback run all the way for McCurnan, and he's going to get down inside the 10-yard line.
Starting point is 01:00:08 Scura and Ruddy did a good job of blocking out on the perimeter, and it looks like the chargers are going to try to run down the clock here, score, and then not give time for McKindry to respond. I'm not too impressed with these quarterback runs. I think they work best when it's just to scramble. It looks like this defense is really shutting down the quarterback runs. It's by design to waste the time. McCurn and under center gives you and Gishu up the middle, running left and fighting down to the six-yard line.
Starting point is 01:00:41 Now, Chargers are going to have to keep an eye on that clock. 40 seconds, 39 seconds left in the first half. Chargers have all three timeouts. I would think they used one here. But they are not going to. And now they run down the clock to 25 seconds. Third down and six. At the McKeonry 7,
Starting point is 01:01:10 Chargers looking to add to their 2814 lead over the McKinjury Bearcats. Well, Ohio now leads Nebraska 13 to 7. Wow. Who are you taking tonight? LSU Clemson. I'm going to go Clemson. Shout out to Tigers.
Starting point is 01:01:41 Who are you taking? I'm going to have to go with LSU. LSU signed two NFL players who are in triage. training camp. So they got drafted. Okay, this is what happened. LSU players, former college football players, rather, not LSU players specifically, were playing on NFL practice squads after signing contracts and then decided they wanted to go back to college. Is that okay? Is that not okay? Ooh, I don't know. A judge in Louisiana deemed it okay, but it was struck down by another judge. McCurton back to pass, third down and six. Looking, looking throws cut. Touchdown. Georgia's. There is, folks.
Starting point is 01:02:28 Shea Ruddy back again. Shea Ruddy. More like Christian McCaffrey, with his second touchdown of the game, increases the lead to 20 points. Hillsdale 34, McKendry 14. Braden Childs on to make it a 21.
Starting point is 01:02:52 point lead. Davis to snap, skirt a hold. Snap, good, hold good. Kick is up and it's good. Chargers are looking like a well-oiled machine right now. Hillsdale 35. McHendry 14, you're listening to Charger football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time. I'm Lauren Smith, and I'm here to tell you that you can, jump up on a table in the middle of class and start playing the electric guitar. Chances are, though, you don't have permission to do this, and so even though you can, you may not. Informal English often gives can and may the same meaning.
Starting point is 01:03:36 You can have a cookie implies both that you have the possibility of eating the cookie and the permission to do it. Often though, this distinction is actually meaningful. There are many things you have permission but not possibility to do, and often things you have possibility but not permission to do. If you want to distinguish, use can and may carefully. Can implies possibility. May implies permission.
Starting point is 01:04:00 They're similar, but they don't quite mean the same thing. That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminant.com for more tips and tricks. Welcome back to Frank Moneywater Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Ferringer alongside me's Frank Ferringer. Hillsdale Leeds. McKinjury University, 35 to 14, 20 seconds left in the first half. So we'll see what McKinjury does.
Starting point is 01:04:37 Two impact players for the first half, leading Hillsdale College. Sheet ready. Two touchdowns. He had a kickoff return and a nice touchdown grab just moments ago. And Luke Panola on the defense is having a fabulous game. So Lions in it, quarterback. Richardson in the backfield with him. QB play action. Lions rolling right, trying to avoid injory.
Starting point is 01:05:05 And he's going to be sacked all the way back inside the 20-yard line. And that's probably going to do it for the first half. Check that. Jirogi. Apologies on the pronunciation. But one good way to end the first half. It's been all chargers so far. Hillsdale leads McKinjury.
Starting point is 01:05:29 University 35 to 14. You're listening to Charger Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. We'll be back for second half action. Welcome back to Frank Muddywater Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Ferringer alongside me. Is Frank Ferringer for the second half of action between Hillsdale and McKendry University? Hillsdale leads the Bearcats, 35 to 14.
Starting point is 01:06:02 Dylan DeDario to kick this one away. The Bearcats back deep to receive to try to cut into this 21-point lead. It was the Shea Ruddy Luke Panola show in the first half. We'll see if McKindry can try to get themselves back into this ball game. Fielded by Jones at his own goal line running right. Now he's going to cut back to the left. Brought down by Vince. Carrico at the 19
Starting point is 01:06:32 yard line. That's some wonderful tackling by Carico there. Sheds the blocker, very patient, and makes the tackle. So on comes Lions in company for this
Starting point is 01:06:49 McKendry offense to try to cut into this 21 point lead and honestly Kendrick Lyons had a great first half for the Bear Cats, just some unfortunate mistakes for the defense and then special teams. He's kind of Doug McKindry into a 21-point hole. Lyons in the gun, Richardson to his right.
Starting point is 01:07:12 He's going to throw out into the flat and it's going to be incomplete. Ryan Nixie on the coverage there. I'll keep you updated with some of the scores around the country pertaining to Division 1 football and D2. as well. So when those scores come my way, I'll let you know. First thing, second down in 10. McKendry at their own 20, 14, 51 to left third quarter. Throw from Lions to haul on a little slant route is going to set up a third down and short ball out to the 28-yard line. Third down in two. We'll see if Hillsdale can get a stop here.
Starting point is 01:08:03 Third down and one, rather. Bolt at the barricette, 29. Lyons in the gun, Richardson to his left. Three receivers to the near side, one to the far. Hillsdale, 35, McKendry 14, lines back to pass, looking right, alludes one tackler and converts on the third down. Goat for down on the play by number 27 to the charges. Tom Davis.
Starting point is 01:08:32 Well spotted at the 52-yard line for McKintern. And that's a fresh set of downs for this McKinjury offense. 1346 left in the third quarter. First down in 10, ball at the Bearcat. 32 lines in the gun. Richardson's who is right. Back to pass. Looking, looking throws.
Starting point is 01:09:00 Incomplete, great coverage there from Ryan Nixie. Nearly intercept. there some goofy bobbling of the ball but yeah great play from Nixa. Coast Davis was also over there I thought he'd take advantage of the ball
Starting point is 01:09:14 that was just hanging precariously in the air for a couple seconds but just excellent textbook coverage there from Ryan Nixa second down in 10 Bearcats still at their own 32 1332 left
Starting point is 01:09:34 third quarter lines in the gun, Richardson to his right, play action. And pass is intended for Lichtenberger, but it's incomplete. Ball bounced off the turf. 87 with a bit of a rough game here. It's one of many drops. Lichtenberger with a couple of drops, but in his defense, Frank, the throws have been rather low. Why is that?
Starting point is 01:09:58 Lines doesn't have time to throw. Why is that? Because that charge R D line is dominant. 13, 29 left. Third quarter, Hillsdale, 35. McKinjury, 14. Third down and 10. This is a big third down for this bear cat offense.
Starting point is 01:10:15 Jacob Vance showing Blitz. Now he drops back. Lion, rolling right, looking, looking. Now he's going to try to scamper for some yardage, and he's tackled from behind by Luke Panola at the 37-yard line. And McKendry's going to have to punt here. six yard gain And that brings on
Starting point is 01:10:39 Christian McCann... I mean, Shea Ruddy to try to run this punt back for a touchdown. Ruddy standing at his own 24-yard line. Their cat punter standing at his own 24. It's a good punt
Starting point is 01:11:02 towards The boundary, it's going to fall out of bounds of the 29-yard line. So good job by that bear cat punter to not kick it directly to ruddy. And now we'll see who's starting at quarterback for this charger offense. Looks like it's going to be Eli Boyce. McCurn has had an excellent game. Boyce's first drive ended in an HB toss bubble that really set the drive back. And then his other drive he was a part of was.
Starting point is 01:11:34 a 90, 80 to 90 yard touchdown run for Ben and Gishu. So we'll see some more opportunity for Eli Boyce to showcase his skills. First down at 10th, the Charger 32. Tosting Gishu running right makes a cut. Another cut at the 35, 40, 45, 50 all the way down into McKendry territory. Ben and Gishu showing his elusive. there. Special run from Anguishu. I mean, dude,
Starting point is 01:12:08 is really hard to bring down an open space. He might be a bit undersized at about 5'9 180 pounds, but really shifty in the open space. New running back in now with Connor Vermeulen, rather. Eli Boyce, in the gun. First down in 10
Starting point is 01:12:29 at the Bearcat 47. It's a give to Vermulen running up. the middle and to get a gain on first down. So that's a new name we have not called in the past couple years, but Connor Vermeulen getting some touches here to relieve Ben and Gishu. It's a gain of six for the sophomore. So now a huddle here, 1130 left in the third quarter charges trying to take their time. Clock is in their advantage, as is the score.
Starting point is 01:13:04 Chargers lead, McKindry, 35, 14, Carico. Motions from right to left. He's going to get the ball on a jet sweep. Chop down at the 38-yard line. Man, when he gets into open space. It's scary. It's just fast moving. Twitchy.
Starting point is 01:13:23 He moves in open space like he moves through a physics lab. Through a chemistry lab. I heard stories last year. The guy would just absolutely cool. Look, there's some organic chemistry labs. I mean, I was in Jankham with him. It was just controlled chaos. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:13:43 Controlled chaos is... Third down and one. Give to Ingeishu up the middle, and he's really close to a first down. Colin Davis in a scuffle with the middle linebacker of McKendry. Actually, kind of a standout linebacker. Nick Bova Huh, we'll have to keep an eye on that Colin Davis did beef with a guy
Starting point is 01:14:12 last year, got into a bit of a scuffle So we'll see if the sweet house director Can keep his cool Oh, Chargers are going to punt this one away Interesting Ian Woodyard standing at the Charger 48 Jones back to receive
Starting point is 01:14:36 at the Bearcat 7, and it's a timeout called by the Chargers. So it's a fourth down in one. 932 left in the third quarter. You're up 3514 to about fourth in a foot. You know what works 96% of the time? That quarterback sneak, Ted. Chargers are two for two on QB sneaks. Let's go to some scores around the country.
Starting point is 01:15:03 Nebraska leads Ohio 14 to 13. So maybe the Chargers can kind of pick themselves up after, or the Huskers, rather, kind of pick themselves up and start modeling their game after this Charger football team, who's been absolutely dominating in this game so far against McKendry. So now the Chargers are going to go for it. It's high formation, voice under center, Slocum as the fullback in Gishu, as the tailback. Fourth down and one ball at the 38 to QB sneak.
Starting point is 01:15:41 Ball to Bearcat 38, and the chargers are going to easily convert with Slocom pushing. Boyce down to the 36-yard line. Dominating at the line of scrimmage. It is pure domination. Those chargers up front, Jesse Mendoza as that senior fifth year center has been doing an excellent job protecting voice in McCurnan. So first down in 10, charges at McKinjury, 36.
Starting point is 01:16:20 Boyce back to pass moving up in the pocket. He's got Ruddy downfield. Come on. Touchdown Chargers. Jay Ruddy with the touchdown reception. Make that his third touchdown in the game. And Hillsdale is now just in a flow state. Wonderful pass from Boyce there.
Starting point is 01:16:42 Wonderful. Boyce floated to his left, got some pressure, stepped up in the pocket, and just a beautiful dime downfield to Shea Ruddy. Now Davis to snap, skirt a hole, Charles to kick. And the extra point is up, and it nearly hits. the scoreboard, no, but it's no good. So that makes it 41 for the Chargers to a McKinjury 14. If you want to find out what really happened in the news this week, stay tuned for Under the Radar on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale on the... What will be a beautiful campus right now, there's extensive construction on the quad library, a classical ed building, just got finished, opened for classes this year.
Starting point is 01:18:51 Man, Hillsdale College is absolutely rolling right now, leading McKindry University, 41 to 14. Lions in the gun, Jones in the backfield with them. looking, looking throws caught for a first down. I think there's going to be a targeting call here. Lincoln Scott absolutely delivered the boom on that play at about midfield. And now there's a flag resting at the 46. Very interesting in Division 2 football without instant replay.
Starting point is 01:19:30 It's all on the field. So we'll see what happens, but if the targeting call holds, as the refs will actually come over to watch instant replay. So pardon my mistaken take there. There is instant replay options. We'll see what the verdict is. Ladies and gentlemen, that was a hit. Layton Scott playing at that safety position. It was a high safety look haul across the middle.
Starting point is 01:20:17 It's kind of a soft spot in between the linebackers and the two high safeties caught the ball in that sweet spot. Started streaking across the middle of the field and Layton Scott. It was a hit from the back. It was interesting. Yeah, Layton Scott delivered the boom from behind. So we'll see what the referee. decide. So is it going to have to leave the field? Well, as with Division I, the rules last year were and Layton Scott is going to be disqualified. Now, Division I rules last year were a bit altered
Starting point is 01:21:08 with targeting and it was that you could remain on the sidelines. You didn't have to go into the locker room to be undressed. So we will see what happens. It looks like Scott will just remain on the sideline, but he's really disappointed. I don't know much about the call, but at the end of the day,
Starting point is 01:21:29 just respect the refs to move on, but it was more of a behind-the-back hit than it was helmet-to-helmet. So first down in 10, ball at the charger, 40. Lions, in the gun, haul in the back field with him. It's a give up the middle, and Hall gets to
Starting point is 01:21:45 the charger 35-yard line. It's going to set up a second down in five. It looks like we got a freshman number 96, Braden Smith at no-stackle here. Yeah, we've had some good production from the freshman class
Starting point is 01:22:01 throughout this game, but as many have mentioned in the preview for this 20-26 season, it's an upperclassman heavy team, which is good if you want to win the conference. Second down in five, ball at The charger 35 lines in the gun haul to his right four receivers in the game two to the far side two to the near
Starting point is 01:22:21 Lions pressured by drake badger and he's get lines has to just throw the ball into the dirt and that sets up a third down and five. So we'll see what McKendry draws up here eight oh four down so we'll see what McKendry draws up here 804 left in the third quarter Hillsdale 41 McKinjury 14 Lions in the gun motion from LinkedIn Burger from left to right haul in the backfield with him
Starting point is 01:23:05 Lions looking left moves up in the pocket throws out in the flat and it's enough for a first down pinola's there again so that tailback for McKindry is enough for a first down.
Starting point is 01:23:30 Great job there from Lyons, from Kendrick Lyons to avoid the pressure create with his feet and then throw out in the flat to his tailback for the first down. So first down in 10, McKinjury at the charger, 29. Play action. Lions.
Starting point is 01:23:53 out in the boundary to haul, and it's broken up by Shenedy and Lyons had a defender in his face almost immediately after the ball was out. So now that's going to set up a second down in 10. McHenjury taking their time a bit, but they don't have to worry about the clock because that was an incomplete pass.
Starting point is 01:24:29 So 7-16 left in the third quarter. Lions in the gun, give up the middle. And Richardson gets out across a 25-yard line. Panola with yet another tackle. Rens us to another
Starting point is 01:24:48 third down, Target for this program. Wave them in the air and while you're at it May 2. So here we go. Third down and six. Ball at the Charger, 25. Motion from Lichtenberger from left to right.
Starting point is 01:25:07 Lions in shotgun. Premis to his left. Two receivers to the far side. One to the near. Lions back to pass. He's got a man downfield. Colin Morrow in coverage. And he's going to get flagged for pass interference.
Starting point is 01:25:21 He was all over. Humphreys, or rather, Johnson on that play. Kendrick Johnson. had a step on Moro, but the ball was underthrown. And that's unfortunate for a 15 yards and automatic close down. And that's unfortunate for a cornerback when a guy has a step on you. The ball's underthrown.
Starting point is 01:25:47 You're bound to run right into the receiver. And that's going to be pass interference 100% of the time. They say cornerback is the hardest position to play on the field. cornerback or quarterback? Corner. Best athlete. I concur. Third down in six.
Starting point is 01:26:10 No, check that. Scoreboard's wrong. First down in 10 at the charger 10. Give to Richardson and he's going to score. Seems like he stumbled for a whole 10 yards there. Richardson got tripped up at the 10 and literally did a stumble bumbled. all the way to the end zone.
Starting point is 01:26:33 But a good drive there for McKendry. They cut into this lead, and with this extra point, they will make the Charger lead at only 20 points. The ball game is not over, folks. Snap, good, hold you, good, kick you up, and the extra point is good. Hillsdale 41, McKendry, 20. You're listening to Charger football right here on radio.
Starting point is 01:26:59 of Free Hillsdale. Radio Free Hillsdale yet again returns triumphant from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Awards. Starting point is 01:28:23 Welcome to 1.7 FM. Welcome back to Frank Muddywaters Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Ferringer alongside me's Frank Ferringer. Hillsdale leads McKendry 41 to 21. 621 left third quarter. McKendry marched straight down the field a few moments ago and cut into this massive charger lead.
Starting point is 01:28:51 And Colin McCurne, back on the field for this Hillsdale offense to try to get some of those points back. Oh my gosh, it's a gift to Gishu and a jump cut for the sophomore. 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 15, 10, 5, touchdown. Chargers. Ben in Gishu, have yourself a game. And Gishu is an 80-dard. 80-yard touchdown run puts the momentum right back into these charger sales.
Starting point is 01:29:30 Not only is he able to make the jump cut right off the ball, but he's got the separation speed down the field. I mean, he just outran a corner. So Braden Child's on to attempt the extra point. Davis to hold. Davis to snap, skirt a hold. Snap is good, hold is good, kick is up, and it's good. Hillsdale 48, McKinjury, 21 after that 80-yard scamper from Benengishu. We'll be back in 30 seconds. You're listening to Charger Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale.
Starting point is 01:30:08 You've landed on Hillsdale College's student-run radio station. You don't need to slam the brakes on us because our student content reminds you of the good, the true, and the beautiful. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time. My name is Hershey, and my name is Stephanie, and we're your host for In Media Red. I'm Ariel McDowell here with a word to the Y. Tune in for more at Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome back to Frank Muddywater Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Ferringer alongside me.
Starting point is 01:30:47 Who is Frank Ferringer. Hillsdale leads McHandry 4821, 609 left in the third quarter. Dylan Titario to kick this one away for the Chargers after an 80-yard touchdown run for Benin Gishu. The sophomore from Texas is having himself a day. Other notable names for today, Shea Ruddy with three touchdowns, Ben and Gishu with two. It's kind of a headline names for this Charger offense on the defensive side. Luke Panola leading the team in tackles. So Hall's going to receive this one on his own goal line and he's hit down at the 15 yard line.
Starting point is 01:31:38 Aggressive tackle. And this Charger Special Team squad is really tackling with authority. So for every punt, every kickoff return. The McKendry returner is running into some walls. Let's see what the charge of defense can do here to stop Lions. Well, after McKinjury cut into
Starting point is 01:32:12 the lead, 27 point lead, to make it only 20, Chargers came right back and scored. So now it's 48 to 21 Hillsdale Leads. Lions gives it to Richardson running right, and Richardson gets back to the line of scrimmage. I could have sworn there was a face mask on the play, but there was no flag thrown. So Hillsdale escapes that.
Starting point is 01:32:43 539 left in the third quarter. Two receivers to the near side. One to the far. Lions in the gun, Richardson in the backfield with him. Second down in 15. McHendry at their own 12. Lions back to pass looking left steps up in the pocket
Starting point is 01:33:01 now he's going to run and just gets down at the 21 yard line So Lions So Lions run there Little Scamper is going to set up a third down in medium Third down in six McKendry at their own 21
Starting point is 01:33:26 455 left in the third quarter Lions in the gun Richardson to his right. Three receivers to the far side. One to the near. Motion from Hall from left to right. Lions back to pass. Throws caught.
Starting point is 01:33:41 And Hall's going to be tackled at the 20-yard line. That's going to bring up a fourth down and six. And McKendry's going to have to punt. And that brings on Chee Ruddy. Shee Ruddy. standing at his own 45-yard line
Starting point is 01:34:04 back to receive try to add to his two touchdown catches and a kickoff return for a touchdown all he has to do now is throw for a touchdown return or punt for a touchdown
Starting point is 01:34:19 and then he's literally scored the football in every way possible it's a low punt bounces at midfield and we'll settle at The charger 35. So we'll see who's in at quarterback now. It's Eli Boyce again, so they're still alternating.
Starting point is 01:34:42 Chargers have a substantial lead over McKendree, 4821. The clock is working in your favor. You don't really have to get too fancy with the play calling. Just run that clock down, get the dub, and try to get out of this first week with, honestly, with some great gameplay. Just try to keep those injuries to a minimum. First down in 10. Chargers at their own, 35. Gid doing Gishu, and he's running left. And he's finally hit down at the 38-yard line.
Starting point is 01:35:18 Just such great patient running there. Really waited for the whole good. Didn't force anything. Really running like Levyon Bell and waiting for the holes open up. So now that's going to set up a first down in 10. No, the scoreboard's wrong again. Second down in seven.
Starting point is 01:35:48 Chargers are at their own 38 boys running right to QB run all the way. And that's enough for a first down. Goodness me. Cyrus Davis came down from the safety position and really didn't even go after Eli Boyce went after Ingechu and just smacked him at the 45. Yeah, you don't love to see that. I think Boyce got the wind knocked out of him there too, landed on the ball weird.
Starting point is 01:36:21 This is a hard hitting Division 2 matchup for sure. First down in 10, Chargers at their own 47. Boyce in the gun, Ingeu 2 is left to give to Ingeishu. running right makes one man this and he gets over down to midfield there is a flag on the field lying at the charger 45 it's going to be a hold it's going to put the chargers back 10 yards and erase that really dynamic ingeshoe run there it's really taking more than one guy to take him to and Gishu down and he was not one of my impact
Starting point is 01:37:03 players coming into today but his performance so far has been really impressive so they'll give him a break we'll see who's in it running back but it's first down in a Walmart parking lot
Starting point is 01:37:20 first down in 20 ball at the charger 37 voice in the gun motion from Ruddy from right to left as a jet suite to Ruddy he jukes one man out at the 38 and is brought down at the 41 yard line. Kind of the first jet sweep call of the game for Ruddy. Other than kind of the routes through the air,
Starting point is 01:37:48 Ruddy hasn't gotten a lot of runs in the backfield yet. So we'll see if they, the coaching staff of that charger offense will get Ruddy more involved in the run game. So now second down in 16. Chargers are thrown, 41. Boyson shotgun, looking left. He's got Ruddy at the 45. And Ruddy shimmies his way out to midfield.
Starting point is 01:38:21 Connor Vermeulen checks in. Blake Hayward checked in there for a play as tailback. Bessker checks in for Luke Stanton. 117 left in the third quarter. Hillsdale 48, McKendry, 21. So third down and seven. Balls at midfield. Boyce in the gun.
Starting point is 01:38:46 Vermeulen to his right. Ruddy, Metzger to the nearest side. Carrico to the far. Boyce back to pass, looking for Metzger, and it's caught by Metzger at the 22-yard line in athletic. Grab there for the senior from Ashland, Ohio. Yeah, that was a great catch. He jumps up, finds the ball over the top of the, of the defender, and then gets a foot down. He may be a bit undersized at 510-190, but super athletic play there from Metzger.
Starting point is 01:39:25 And now the referees are going to go to review to see if Metzger actually got a foot down or not. This is a number of for you guys. This is a lot of volunteers. For more information, visit www. www. hilsdale cosson.
Starting point is 01:39:47 O'R.G. This is quite funny. We have a photographer up in the phone in the booth who snapped a photo of Jonathan Netsker as he caught the ball, and we can concur. He got his foot. In bounds.
Starting point is 01:40:05 That's wild. It's almost better than instant replay. Instant photo? Wild. Other than that, it's been an excellent afternoon for some football. Just a nice, cool afternoon with a Michigan sun, which means it's not here. But overall, it's been a great day for Charger football. The student section really showed out.
Starting point is 01:40:42 The campus was alive and well. Today, we've got pickleball courts that are just popping off over here by the stadium. Not a stitch of wind. In this humid air. No injuries yet either, so knock on wood, that's good to see. It's been a very good day for Charger football. A lot of the impactful players that we knew. would play well, have played extremely well.
Starting point is 01:41:12 And McKindry's also played efficiently as well. It's just chargers have been too much to handle through three quarters. So the call is upheld, which we already knew that. So with 50 seconds left in the third quarter, Hillstale is going to try to add to this lead. They lead to McKindry, 48. 21. Voice in the gunning.
Starting point is 01:41:42 Gishu 2 is right. Stand to the far side. Ready to the near. First down in 10. Ball at the Bearcat. 23. Now whistles are blown on the field. We'll see what is the matter.
Starting point is 01:41:57 Now we have a conversation with the referees at the 30-yard line. Unfortunately, the referee mic does not work. and I cannot tell what are you saying. So they had to adjust the clock. So they had to adjust the clock. First down in 10. Barricat 23, Boyce, came to Ingey running up the middle,
Starting point is 01:42:50 and he gets past the 20 down to the 19. And that's going to probably run it down here. Bleed out this third quarter. Might be one time for one more play. So second down in six. Chargers at the McKindry 19, 20 seconds left in the third quarter. Boyce in the gun, he's to his left, motion from right from right to left, voice running right.
Starting point is 01:43:29 He cuts up the field and he gets down to the 10-yard line. Athletic play there from the junior from Holland, Michigan, is going to get the ball inside the 10. and that'll be the final play of the third quarter. Hillsdale 48. McKindry, 21. You're listening to Charger Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. Ever wonder how successful businesses do it?

Starting point is 01:45:09 water welcome back to Frank Muddywater Stadium on the campus Philstill
Starting point is 01:45:15 College Chargers lead McHendry 48 to 21 start of the fourth
Starting point is 01:45:20 quarter motion from ready from right to left give you
Starting point is 01:45:23 and guise you up the middle and he keeps churning those
Starting point is 01:45:27 legs inside the five yard line down to the two And charges are going to take this sweet old time.
Starting point is 01:45:40 They own a significant lead over the Bearcats. 48 to 21. Hayward checks in for Ingeishu. Second down and goal. Boyce in the gun. Hayward to his right, ruddy and scur to the nearest side. And it's a QB run.
Starting point is 01:46:07 All the way. away and Boyce scores easily. Boyce runs over a defender on his way to the end. You love to see it. And the dual threat quarterback for the Chargers gets his first running touchdown of the season, and that makes it Hillsdale 54. McKinjury 21, Braden Childs, trying to make it 55.
Starting point is 01:46:36 You're going to have to do the math on the lead. I don't do math. What is 55 minus 21? 30 something. Snap good, hold good. Kick is up. And it's good. 55 to 21 Chargers lead over McKindry University.
Starting point is 01:46:59 You're listening to Charger Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. Welcome to the Grammar Minute. where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time. I'm Lauren Smith, and I'm here to tell you that you can jump up on a table in the middle of class and start playing the electric guitar. Chances are, though, you don't have permission to do this, and so even though you can, you may not. Informal English often gives can and may the same meaning.
Starting point is 01:47:26 You can have a cookie implies both that you have the possibility of eating the cookie and the permission to do it. Often, though, this distinction is actually meaningful. There are many things you have permission but not possibility to do, and often things you have possibility but not permission to do. If you want to distinguish, use can and may carefully. Can implies possibility. May implies permission. They're similar, but they don't quite mean the same thing.
Starting point is 01:47:54 That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminut.com for more tips and tricks. Welcome back to Frank Moneywater Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College. Chargers, charger kicker Dylan Didario kicks it off and kickoff for McKinjee brings it out to the 35-yard line. Hillsdale leads McKinnery 55 to 21. We'll see if the lead is substantial enough to start instituting a running clock. But overall, it's been an excellent day for charger football. Excellence and special teams on the defense and the offense.
Starting point is 01:48:52 So we'll probably have some new names in here as Charger coaching staff starts filtering in some new freshmen and sophomores. It's a run to the right. New name PJ O'Brien with the tackle. And PJ O'Brien with the tackle is right. That's going to set up a second down in short. second down in three ball at the mcindry 39 lions in the gun Richardson's who is right two receivers at the far side one to the near lines back to pass looking for Lichtenberger down the center
Starting point is 01:49:36 of that seam and it falls incomplete so that brings up a third down in three charge the nation. There goes programs. And you know it's time to make it loud. So here's a
Starting point is 01:50:10 big third down and three. Ball at the McKindry, 39, lines in the gun. Richardson, two is right. Three receivers to the far side, one of the near, lines back to pass, looking across the middle, incomplete. O'Brien in coverage on Quincy Hall. And that's going to set up a fourth down
Starting point is 01:50:26 in three, and out trots the McKindry Punting team and you know who's back deep to receive Frank? Shea Ruddy Shay Ruddy back deep to receive trying to add to his hat trick
Starting point is 01:50:46 of touchdowns today standing at his own 22 yard line McKindry punter standing at his own 25 It's a good boot. Wow. Some nice air under it.
Starting point is 01:51:01 It might give Rudy a chance to run it back. No, fair con at the 14. So now we got another new quarterback in the game. It's Cole Cancer. The transfer from Wayne State three years ago, and the third stringer for this charger offense is now going to get some of his first playing time of the 2026 season.
Starting point is 01:51:31 Hillsdale leads McHendry 55, 21, 1320 left in the ball game. Cancer under center. Hayward in the backfield is the tailback. Motion from Madsker from right to left.
Starting point is 01:51:50 Give to Hayward running left. Put his head down there and maybe got a couple. One. So now's going to set up a second down in nine. Chargers at their own, 14. 12.50 left in the ball game. Cancer in the gun.
Starting point is 01:52:16 Vermeulen, two is right. Two receivers to the far side. None to the near. Give to Vermeulen up the middle, and he'll fight to the 17-yard line. Gunner, Vermeulen, a ball carry for the service. Brought down by number 90s, Jane Wilmington, Bearcats. It seems about three on the plane, third down from charges.
Starting point is 01:52:45 And now it's going to be a third down and medium for Hillsdale. Really just trying to bleed the clock here and take their time. Really smart clock management. Cancer in the gun, Hayward, two is right. Just one receiver in the game to the near side. Canter back to pass. Looking right, moves up in the pocket, and he's sacked in the backfield. All the way back to the 12-yard line.
Starting point is 01:53:09 And that will bring on the Charger punt team as this clock tries. Excuse me, ticks down near about 10 minutes remaining in the ball game. Ian Woodyard standing in his own end zone to punt this one away. Josh Lomansky to snap it back there. Josh Lomansky. Sophomore or junior? Sophomore. Sophomore for his Charger football team.
Starting point is 01:53:42 Fun fact, he was on college game day last year doing a dance battle. I still have to find it on YouTube. Good punt by Woodyard. And Vince Carico has his third tackle on special teams today. I feel like every time the punt team and a kick team's out there, Vince Caracos getting the tackle. Those are the things coaches notice. Keriko, of course, the brother of Tut Keriko, who mark my words, will be the best dentist in the nation in 10 years. Keithos, Kithas.
Starting point is 01:54:25 First down in 10. McKindry, at the charger, 44 lines in the gun, give to Richardson running up the gut. And he gets to about the 39-and-a-half-yard line. So score update from that Husker game. Nebraska leads Ohio University, 14-13. It's still third quarter, but Ohio's attempting an extra point to try to take the lead. And it's wide right. Thank goodness.
Starting point is 01:55:03 Second down in seven. McKendry at the charger, 41 lines back to pass, throws out to Richardson in the flat. And a great. tackle there. Scott Eaton fends off a blocker and gets the tackle. He's known as Scoot on campus. Does he drive a scooter too? More so because of his speed. Oh, yes, he's very fast. It's third down charge a nation. But a great tackle from him from the junior. It's time to make it wild. Hillsdale leads McHendry, 55, 21, third down in eight, four. The Bearcats, 10 minutes left in the ball game.
Starting point is 01:55:45 Lions in the gun, Richardson's who has left? Blitz shown. And that might have affected the throw because Lions just completely airmailed that one. And that's going to force a punt for McKindry University. And someone's going to be back deep to receive this punt. Shea Ruddy. Shea Ruddy. Back deep to receive.
Starting point is 01:56:16 The punter's been doing a really good job. The punter has been doing an excellent job. Carnine has not allowed ruddy the opportunity to run a punt back at least, and he kicks that one into the end zone. So now on comes cold cancer and company to try to add to this massive lead, Ilstale 55, Bikindra. 21. Chargers will start to the judge is going to start to throw on 20 yard line.
Starting point is 01:57:00 9.53 left in the ball game. I'm assuming it's going to be a run-heavy play calling now as charges really have nothing to lose. Cancer in the gun. Vermeulen to his left. Pitch out to Vermeulen in space. And he fights his way
Starting point is 01:57:18 to the 21-yard line. for a yard. For Mulein's more of that power running back. Strong kid for sure. A big kid, 5-11, 6 foot, all of 210 pounds.
Starting point is 01:57:36 Whereas in Gishu's a little bit smaller, but has more of that shiftingness, open space, speed. It's kind of break away from cornerbacks. Second down in a Chargers at their own, 22,
Starting point is 01:57:52 cancer under center, pitches out to Hayward. Hayward cuts it up the field. It delivers the boom! At the 35-yard line, Blake Hayward. That's how it's Texan runs a football, ladies and gentlemen.
Starting point is 01:58:07 Absolutely. Instructed the defender about Texas, baby. Oh, my goodness. That was one of the better runs all day. Wowsers. Gets into the secondary and just drops the shoulder on the poor safety. So that's a first down in 10.
Starting point is 01:58:35 And that's just some great running there late in the ball game. To give to Vermeulen up the middle. And now Vermeulen fights his way up to midfield. This is the type of plays. late in the game with some of your second and third stringers when they're running hard. Taking pride in the work is when you know we've got a special team, folks. Hillsdale trying to add to this 55, 21 point lead, getting some of the younger guys in. They get some valuable playing time.

First down in 10. Chargers at the 40 at their own 48. To give to Hayward up the middle and he fights across midfield and pushes his way to the 46-yard line. Ooh, it looks like a defender on McKinjury's legs got caught under the pile here.
Starting point is 01:59:44 And it looks like we have an injury on the field. and with that we are going to take a time out so you're listening to Charge Your Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale Ever wonder how successful businesses do it Your body, it's best retail sales

Starting point is 02:01:35 Haugh Castleman, the freshman out of Michigan with a nice run there. That's going to set up a third down. No. Yes, third down. The scoreboard's tripping me out. It's going to be about a third down at five. The clock keeps winding down. Six, 40 left in the ball game.
Starting point is 02:02:03 Cancer in the gun. From Ewan, two is right. Two receivers to the far side. One in the near. Canter back to pass. Looking, looking, throws. And it's incomplete. Pretty good defense there by number,
Starting point is 02:02:16 29 on the Bearcats. And that's going to bring up a fourth down in five, and Ian Woodier comes out to punt it away for the Chargers. And haul back deep a ground in the Bearcats. Woodyard standing at the Charger 40. Good snap.
Starting point is 02:02:51 And it's a decent punt. It's going to bounce at the 15 and go down inside the 10-yard line. Really good punt there. And with that, on comes the Charger defense. And we'll take a 30-second break. You're releasing the Charger football right here on Radio Free Hills. Starting point is 02:03:56 Hillsdale Leeds McKendry University 55-21. It's like Lamansky here with some good pursuit to get the tackle. Josh Lamanski, we're going to have a lot of new names filtering in freshmen, sophomore, juniors that usually are second, third, and fourth stringers. So please bear with us as we get these names. squared away. Second down and seven. Ball at the McKindry 13. Lions in the gun. Hall motions from right to left.
Starting point is 02:04:27 Give to Richardson running left and he gets out to the 14 yard line. So, the saw and carry for the air caps. The game is about one yard on the play. So that'll bring up a third
Starting point is 02:04:43 down and medium. One is down to the ball for, third down. Yes, congratulations. It's third down. Time to make it loud. Five, ten left in the ball game. Crowds trying to get into it.
Starting point is 02:05:00 The student section has stayed for much of the game, which is good to see. Hillsville's having a heck of a ball game so far. Lions in the gun, Richardson, two is left. Back to pass, throws. He's got Lichtenberger, but is enough for a first down. And it is. Pass. He's number eight to seven.
Starting point is 02:05:17 Vietnam off of Bearcats. Well, down the number five, Chris, increasing. How's that Nebraska game, Ted? It is not looking great. Nebraska leads Ohio, 14 to 13. I will, you guys probably don't care about Nebraska football, but I don't care that you don't care. First down in 10, McKendry at their own 21.
Starting point is 02:05:44 Lions back to pass. He's got the tight end in the team down the middle, and it's another unfortunate drop. It's a rough game there. Lichtenberger with another drop. I'm sorry, that was Luke Bonema of Illinois with the drop, but he's wearing no gloves, so maybe gloves would help. Lions, back to pass for this second down in 10.
Starting point is 02:06:23 Nice pitch and catch. Out to hall. Christian creasing with the tackle here. My goodness, Charger. Defense is absolutely tackling with some form. I mean, we have some form tackling. Some double-leg takedowns out here. So a good creasing tackle there, but Sutton had a nice grab to bring it out
Starting point is 02:06:49 to pass the 35-yard line, and now we've got an injury on the field, so hopefully they're okay. 4.06 left's in the ball game. Hillsdale leads McKendry, 55 to 21. Overall, it's been as a resounding success for the 2026 season opener. As I mentioned, next week, Hillsdale will host Wayne State as they come to town for week two. We know some of the players on the team. The last couple years have ended at 6 and 6, 6, 6 and 5. and six and five. They finally want to break through and win the GMAC. Have it be their year. This has been a great start.
Starting point is 02:07:40 Lions over the middle for Hall and it's caught for a first down. Tetler in coverage and Hall brings it all the way down to the 25-yard line. So Lions still playing with his head up and having a great game, honestly, despite what the scoreboard shows. No doubt. Lions is a special player. He can move, he can throw. He was very tough for the defense to shut down there in the first quarter.
Starting point is 02:08:10 Kendrick Lyons, a bright spot for this Bearcat team. Three minutes left in the ball game. Lyons in the gun, Richardson to his left, two receivers in the airside. One to the far. Lions, back to pass, looking right throws caught. And Bear Cat, And a nice move and brings it up to the 15 yard line. Affalo with the grab, and that's going to set up a second down and one.
Starting point is 02:08:42 Ball at the Charger 16. So this defense full of the second and third stringers trying to hold strong here and not give up any late points. Chargers lead the Bearcats. 55-21. It's a QB draw up the middle. and lines, he's just going to slide down. He didn't want to risk it. And we're winding down to that
Starting point is 02:09:11 two-minute warning. Alex Lee with the tackle, and that might be the final play before the two-minute warning. And it looks like it will be so. Hillsdale 55. McIndry, 21. You're listening

Seth Davis, the brother of Colin Davis, just signed up to go to the Navy after graduation. I believe so. He was in D.C. at the beginning of the year doing some interviews.
Starting point is 02:11:26 Pretty neat stuff. Second down in nine. McKindry at the Charger, 13, 125 left in the ballgame. Hillsdale 55. McHenry 21. Lyons. Lions. in the gun, back to pass, looking left, looking for the post route, incomplete, overthrown. Lomansky got some good coverage there. Josh Lomanski in coverage. Really, if you think about it, being a good quarterback is very similar to being a good dancer.
Starting point is 02:11:55 And Josh Lomanski apparently is a phenomenal dancer. Oh, Josh has the moves, ladies and gentlemen. They've been programmed and make it loud. So, with one. 16 left in the ball game. McKindry trying to add to their 21 points. Lines in the gun, Richardson.
Starting point is 02:12:18 Who is right? Two receivers to the far side, one of the near, give to Richardson running left. And he's stopped at the line of scrimmage. So now it's fourth down. And McKindry looks like they're going to try to kick.
Starting point is 02:12:34 Get their kickers some good experience here. It's going to be about a 30-yard field goal attempt. He'll be inside of 30 yards. About 29-yard field goal. Hillsdale 55. McKindry, 21.
Starting point is 02:12:55 We'll see if they can make it 24. Snap, good old good. Kick is up, and it's good. McKendry adds to their point total.
