Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time. I'm Lauren Smith, and earlier this week, I told you about a book called You're Okay, Your Dog's Okay. There were a couple of grammar errors in this title, and the last one we'll cover this week is the spelling of okay. This title had this as letter O, letter K, all lowercase. This is the wrong way to do it. If you're going to use the two-letter spelling, you must capitalize both letters, because this word is thought to be an abbreviation. You can also write out the word phonetically as O-K-A-Y. In this case, you don't need to capitalize any of the letters.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Either OK-all-Caps or OK spelled-out is correct. Personally, I prefer the spelled-out version because I think the capitals draw unnecessary attention. However you write it, don't write OK in lowercase. That guarantees you're wrong. That's your Grammar Minute. Visit Thegrammerminit.com for more tips and tricks.
