Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and I am here today to prepare you for the end of the world.
When the nuclear apocalypse happens, grammar is obviously not going to be the foremost thing on everyone's mind,
so now is the time to be ready.
My advice is simple.
Consider the word nuclear.
Notice how it's spelled.
New clear.
Not, and I repeat absolutely not.
Nucular. This is one relatively rare instance of a word in English being spelled exactly like it sounds,
but it's abused all the time. So, 10 years from now, when you're scavenging for supplies among the
dystopian rebel of some former grocery store, you can stare dramatically at the horizon
and sigh about the good old days before the nuclear apocalypse.
That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegramminit.com for more tips and tricks.
