Today, we're learning the secret to running thriving corporations. Choose your advisors wisely. Andrew Carnegie, born 1835 and died in 1919, is a renowned philanthropist who is famous for his story of helping create the world's first billion dollar company, the U.S. Steel Corporation. With over $300 billion to his name, Carnegie is one of the richest men in human history. His name can be seen all over the United States to this day on halls, libraries, trusts, and funding projects that he donated the majority of his wealth to before his death. Carnegie once said, I owe whatever success I have attained to my ability to surround myself with people who are smarter than I am.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Carnegie thought that you were influenced by the people around you very strongly. He claimed it was better to be pulled up by the people in your life than to be held back. He understood that you don't have to know everything about everything if you can associate with people, who are even more of an expert on subjects than you are. In summary, you should choose to associate with people who will push you to become better and fill in the gaps that you are missing. Comfort is not key, according to Carnegie.
