The following is a special presentation of WRFH Sports.
Crowd is roaring. It's a sold-out game here.
Takes the three. Got that one.
Passes outside to Tavon. Tavon takes the three. Got that one. Back-to-back threes for the Chargers.
Still Charger Basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM starts now.
7 FM Charger
Basketball. We are live here from Don
Tibbitts Potter Arena with a great
matchup between your Hillsdale College
Chargers and the Finley Oilers.
Yeah. My name is Evan Mick.
I'm Gordy. And today
we have the 15 and 3
Charger basketball team 9 and 1
in the conference against the 16
and 2, Finley Oilers.
Finley Oilers ranked number 5 in the
nation and Chargers were ranked
number 23 and then they just got
upset. Both teams actually
coming off and upset. Hillsdale just losing to Lake Erie and Finley just losing to Thomas Moore.
Yeah, definitely a key storyline as this game has huge implications for the conference
standings moving forward. Both teams obviously at the top with those records. And of course,
it's Saturday and it's a rivalry. Yeah. Stadium is packed. A lot of football players here. A lot of fans here,
just in general. Yeah, the bands here just came off a great game where the girls also played Finley,
narrowly won there by two and they although just lost Ashland are also on a great hot streak
having a great season um yeah nine and one in their last 10 games yeah that's exciting uh so the
crowd's ready to go for a good game we're excited for one too a couple key storylines just looking
through Finley basketball they they love to go ump tempo and they love to play a lot of guys
with about 11 deep rotation yeah Finley also shoots 10.7 3 points per game that makes 10.7
three points per game very
shooting team. They like to get the rock
because Hill still is a shooting team. They probably
shamed me the second or third most of the GMAC and they still
only make eight threes a game. Yeah, definitely an
exciting matchup of who's going to be able to shoot it better
and the Finley Oilers led by
sophomore forward
Will, a chancic
averaging about 16.3 a game
and then a couple other guys in the double digits
and two of them highlighted by
Ion Alopolo and Mackay Elmore coming off
the bench. So like me said, a deep rotation
with a lot of guys that can get a bucket. Yeah,
Charter's leading scorer's leading scorers, Charles Woodham's
averaging 14 a game, and their leading player just in general kind of overall.
They're silent but deadly leader is Joe Ruder, averaging 12 points a game, but he's the heart
of their defense.
He's just a hardworking guy, and he's an all-around player.
Yeah, it's exciting to see two teams where a couple matchups earlier in the year.
It was just one guy averaging about 20 for one team and just a lot of different scoring,
so we're excited.
Yeah, we're going to go to a short media timeout about two minutes as we get to the
national anthem.
But you're listening to Radio for Heelsdale 101.7 FM.
Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and I recently saw a book described as a non-parais.
This puzzled me because, for one thing, the book was in English, so why use a French word to describe it?
Secondly, the English meaning of the term non-parais is usually candy.
Yep, you heard that right.
A non-parais is a smooth word.
small chocolate candy covered in sprinkles.
Translated from French, it does actually mean unrivaled or matchless, which I think is what the
writer meant.
The only problem is that almost nobody knows that.
To borrow some common advice from Strunken White's elements of style, just avoid foreign
words in your writing.
It makes you sound pretentious and it clouds the meaning unnecessarily for your reader.
And if you're not careful, you might end up accidentally calling a book a food.

Welcome to the Astro Minute, where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds out of time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're looking at the red planet.
Our neighboring planet Mars will shine extra brightly all night long throughout January.
The red planet's brightness varies considerably, but right now it's a mere 61 million miles from Earth
and opposite the sun in our sky, appearing brighter than it will again until 2027.
The fourth planet from the sun is about half the size of Earth and features a thin atmosphere,
polar ice caps, two small moons, and a wild version of the seasons.
Mars may have earthly visitors soon.
The race is on to overcome the challenge of distance and extreme space and planetary climate
to say hello in person.
You'll find bright red Mars right now near twin stars, Pollux and Castor,
rising in the northeast and setting in the southwest.
And look for Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn to join the red planet.
in our winter skies.
That's your Astro Minute.
Back.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM Charger basketball.
Just time for this 3 p.m. tip.
Just about to kick off here.
Starting lineups.
Starting off with Finley, we have their leading score, Will Ajansick.
Jagger Landers at Forward.
Anthony Johnson, a veteran guard for them.
Josh Turbin, closing out with Jake Bishop,
if you want to give him the Charger lineup.
Yeah, the charger lineup is going to be number four, Charles Woodham's senior.
Number 33, also a senior, Joe Ruder.
Number two, a junior, Ashton Janowski at point guard.
Number 35, Eric Radicevich, center, the 6-9 Big Rick.
Big Rick, as we call him.
And number 30, Logan Beeston, the red shirt freshman.
So his first year playing, but started every game this year for the Chargers.
Yeah, and he's just been a steady guy where if you need him to make a shot, he's going to, plays
defense and another player to highlight that comes off the bench every game but
scores a lot for them is mike mccallum the sharp shooting sophomore yeah both of those two are
three and d type guys uh trying to live out the living name of jack gulkey yeah yeah great charger
basketball player a couple years ago obviously had that run with oakland but a lot of guys
chargers also have a pretty deep rotation where they rotate a lot of guys in so i'm expecting high
tempo a lot of defense maybe a couple presses from each team just to try to speed this game up and
play it there
The storyline for every single game that the Chargers will always play in
is that they have the size advantage.
Every single game, this one not as big as some of the others.
Finley has a 6-8 freshman and a 6-7 freshman.
But Chargers, 6-9 and 6-10.
Yeah, it's interesting too because they don't really have a pure center that starts for them,
which could play into their tempo.
But Jagger Landers appears to be their biggest starter at 6-7-2-30.
And like we said, Big Rick to me,
and he is a, he might not, like we said, on the stash, he might not be that tall,
but he plays like a pure post player for the charger.
Yeah, he is, I mean, just huge.
Big and strong.
These aren't tall, skinny guys.
These are tall guys who are built.
They got some muscle on.
Yeah, for sure.
And the chargers, like we said, it's all about getting that size advantage,
using it to your advantage and then making the threes when he got them.
Last time we were here, the Chargers struggled from the field a little bit,
so hoping to see that cleaned up for them.
Yeah.
Last time that we were here, too, the Chargers won.
They struggled shooting.
They had a pretty bad game by their own standards.
But even when they play those bad games, they can win,
but they are going to need to be on their best tonight.
Yeah, and I think one thing that we highlighted as that game was going on
was the defense of spark from Joe Ruder, senior leader.
Like we said, scores 12th game might not be super flashy,
but he just had a great defensive effort all over the floor, diving,
and that type of energy is what's going to bring it up.
And I think the key for Finley and also the key for the Chargers is
for Finley, keep the crowd out of it.
Don't let this crowd get loud early, fluster you a little bit.
And for the Chargers is make big plays, charges, three-point shots, stuff like that to get the crowd really amped up.
Yeah, both teams huge on rebounding, have a plus rebounding margin and a plus turnover margin.
Both teams averaging over 14 assists per game, spreading the ball around.
I mean, when you play eight-man-deep for Hillsdale and then you come up against a team that plays 11 man deep.
Yeah, that's interesting for sure.
It's rare, it's rare.
You don't see it much.
And also the one thing to note about Finley, they're great on offense and defense.
Their win margin on the season is almost 19.
So they find a way to win games through offense and defense with a lot of different players.
So we're excited to see how this one goes.
Chargers here on the tip.
Big rip going against Jagger Landers.
Big Rick.
Ball's going to go to the Chargers.
Tipped around.
Jagger Landers, ball's still free.
Going to go back to Anthony Johnson, who takes it up here, top of the
key and they're not going to give him a steal which is big so the possession arrow is going to go in hillsdale's favor
top of the key here jagger landers he'll take the deep three ball won't go rebound Logan bison
yeah great rebound there by boston i mean man had him beat kind of under the basket but ball popped up just
high enough for him to grab it over chargers bringing it up here joe rudder on the right wing back to
genowski at the top of the key he dribbles to the right top of the key rudder trying to get the chargers
offense started with 15 on the shot clock rudder working on al jacetet
Step back, three ball, Reuter.
Won't go.
Ball tipped around.
Rebound goes away to Jake Bishop.
Both teams early here playing manned defense,
which I think is what we're going to see pretty much most of the game,
unless they go into some style of pressure.
Here comes Finley back the other way, top of the key to Jake Bishop.
Running the offense to Anthony Johnson, swings it in the corner to Jagger Landers.
Working on Big Rick.
Iso here.
Baseline drive.
Lay up good.
Yeah, just a great move.
Landers a little bit faster than Big Rick.
Rick having a huge size advantage.
for sure but Jagger's quick for a big man your score to zero Finley here and they bring
out the press early charges break it deep pass down to Logan Beeson back to Woodham's on the
left wing both teams don't team's gotten pretty good looks here so far offensively
can just probably see a defensive stop here soon right wing three big Rick won't go rebound
cleared away by Josh Turbin Finley coming back the other way high tempo Jagger landers on the
left wing lander's top of the key back to Anthony Johnson
Trying to get things going on Janowski.
Anthony Johnson drives, middle,
swings it to the corner to Al Jasek.
He drives on Ruter, spins back, layup, won't go.
Ball tipped around, rebound again, Beeson.
I mean, just stride for stride with him for Router.
And no foul, didn't swad down at the ball,
just kept the hands up and made contact just barely.
Your score 2-0 here, Chargers down with 18 to play.
Janowski set him in the offense with 18 on the shot clock.
Finds Ruter on the left wing.
Back to Woodham's on the left wing.
Down low, big Rick on the block.
Working on Landers.
Big Rick backing them down, waiting for the double
come, it doesn't spins, baseline, floater good.
Your score, two to two here.
Finley coming back the other way.
All tied up, Anthony Johnson running the offense.
And we're only two minutes into this game,
but you can already tell if this game is going to be a dogfight back and forth all day.
Jagger Landers, top of the key, swings it to Al Jasek.
Working on Router again, swings it over.
Finds Jake Bishop, top of the key back to Johnson.
Working on Woodham, tries to drive to the left.
Good defense by Woodham, swings it over.
Bishop, got four on the shot clock.
On the wing, looking.
Can't find it has to heave.
Won't go.
Rebound Router.
I mean, honestly, it was a great effort just to get that shot up.
Had to take the shot under a guy who was jumping.
Chargers back the other way.
Your score 2-2 here.
Logan Beeson, step back mid-range.
Good!
Made the defender fall and knocks it down.
Your score 4 to 2 with 1658 to play.
And the crowd erupted on that one.
Very exciting whenever you can see if a guy in the
ground and the Shago in, finishing the clip for Bista.
Al Jassick comes back the other way.
Tough layup over Big Rick.
Good.
Your score 4 to 4.
Al Jassic with the bucket.
Ruder looking for the inbound here.
Tough press.
Gets it into Wottoms.
Woodham clears it.
He makes a pass half court, swings it to Beeson.
Beeson.
Logan, Beeson.
Your score 7 to 4.
We talked about this registered freshman.
You can now leave him open.
Him and Mikey McCollum are the two three-point shooters for Hillsdale.
T-shirts flying here.
Don Tittittitts.
seven to four. Finley back the other way. Jagger landers driving on Big Rick to the left. Spings back
middle. Working on Big Rick and he gets the bucket and the foul. What a response. Your score
seven to six with a chance for one more and this is exciting game here early. Yeah. Big Rick
angry at himself on that one right there. You know better. Ball's already gone. Can't
swat down at it. You just got to stay straight up. You can let in the basket at the end one.
Can't do that. This is little little things that are going to make the difference here today.
Yeah, interesting. You see two. You go on a little run here.
Finley, you get a stop.
Four new players in on this free throw attempt.
A little bit of a hockey sub here.
Landers' shot is up and no good rebound router.
Out to Wettoms and the press continues from Finley.
They're actually also looking to set out Landers here too
if he was shooting the foul.
And he's going to get a foul there on Iopolo.
The third leading score for them as their six-man,
a freshman forward from Mentor, Ohio.
Yeah, and so basically Finley in the first four minutes
the game has already subbed out their entire team.
Chargers only subs so far has been C.J. Yerian in for Big Rick.
Seven to six. Chargers up one with 16.
Janowski beats the press.
Janowski looking to go to work in the mid-range.
And the corner finds Ruder in the right corner.
Drives to the middle on Iopolo.
Swings it to Janowski.
Wing three ball won't go.
Tipped around, rebound Woodhams.
Second chance here for the Chargers.
Finds the Erian in the corner.
Swings it to Beeson on the wing.
Will go.
Logan Beeson.
Your score 10 to 6.
I mean, just a great effort there by Joe Ruter tipping out the rebound to give it to another charger.
Won't show up on the stat sheet, but a huge play there to add another three points on the game board.
New subs in.
Mackay Elmore on the wing working on Woodhams.
Swings it over.
Finds Alex Kendall, and he's going to walk with it.
Tough defense by Woodhams.
That's going to take us to a media timeout.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM charger basketball.

So 101.7 FM Charger basketball.
You scored 10 to 6.
Chargers up four with 15, 25 to play.
What are you seen out there, Evan?
Well, early for Hillsdale, one player has eight points out of 10.
Logan Beeston already drained two wide open threes and had a step back guy falling down.
The crowd is hype and they love him.
Yeah, one thing to note, like we mentioned, that crowd.
And when you're playing in a big game like this in basketball,
it's so easy to get hot when that crowd's into it.
And we've seen an early eight straight points.
Yeah.
I mean, Finley has really, really strong.
build in the transition they decided to come out and press and do a zone press they're trying to get a
trap and then fall back into man defense their zone trap but then fall back into the man defense
and when they fall back into that man defense they do not have everybody marked up and they have left
Beeston wide open for two threes which is the guy that you cannot leave open coming out of this time out here on
the baseline couple subs in for the chargers the press continues here from finley they get it into the
senior cole McWinney back to garrett boltey trying to break the press here balls tipped around
saved by finley but he's out of bounds great
effort there by Mackay Elmore,
tipped the ball around, almost had a steal there.
Yeah, so Hillstill did some out there, starting point guard.
Ashton Janowski, who is the guy who
used to drivel and beat the press himself?
Cole McQuinnney, much more over a passer, so you're going to
see the ball movement a lot faster here.
Yeah, and for sure, Joe Ruder, normally the inbounder there.
We're going to get a timeout here
for the Chargers. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale,
101.1.7 FM Charger Basketball.
I'm Gordy. I'm Evan.
The Dean's List with Janice Dean.
Medical students from New Jersey who offer haircuts to patients makes the deans list.
They call themselves the Bergen Barbers, named after the street in Newark, New Jersey, where
the university hospital is located.
The program was started a few years ago by a student name Veshali Ravakumar.
He wanted to give haircuts detangling treatments and a shave for the men who were in the hospital
for long periods of time.
Beisheali came up with the idea as a third year student while taking care of trauma
surgery patients. He saw one man's long, matted hair and unruly beard making him uncomfortable.
So he gathered supplies from the hospital.
Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Radio for Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Charger basketball.
Chargers with a turnover off that out of bounds. Finley gets it here.
Kai Elmore on the left wing. Takes a three ball. We'll go. Big shot by Elmore. Your score 10 to
nine. Chargers still up one and that press has given them trouble. First, you give up an
Offensive rebound, not great.
And then second, you give them a turnover, and then you give him an offensive rebound.
Can't do that here.
Chargers able to break it.
CJ Yerian in the half court.
Colemane on the right wing.
Chargers set up the offensive 19 on the shot clock.
Boltie on the right wing.
Swings it to Yerian, top of the key.
Coming off the screen, Logan Beeson, heat check three won't go.
Out of bounds.
Felt it there.
Offside with himself and he's going to get sucked out for Mike McCall.
Yeah, I mean, the Chargers here.
The press, struggling with it.
Got to calm down until you put Joe Ruder back into the game.
You also see senior guard Charles Woodham's back in trying to help with that press.
Finley gets the out of bounds after the stop.
Coming up the floor, Max Ross, swings it over.
Finds Alex Kendall, Mackay Elmore working here in the mid range.
Pull-up middy, won't go, rebound Woodhams.
Great box-out job for everybody else.
Once again, another thing that won't still up on the stat sheet,
but Williams had an easy rebound there because of it.
McCollum gets it in the half-core back to McWinney,
going to set up the offense with 20 on the shot clock left wing joe rudder finds the area in top of
the key coming off the screen mcwinnie swings it to rudder on the left wing looking to work on elmore
gets him to fall but the ball is poked away return to woodham's chargers have numbers back the
other way woodham's on elmore trapped in the corner here swings it over to mccullum he'll take the three
ball won't go tough rebound cleared away by mason brand yeah unfortunate on that steel they didn't call
a change of position so the shot clock never reset chargers back the uh or
Excuse me, the Oilers back the other way and Ruder went for the steel, got called for a foul there,
thought he might have had it.
Yeah, the crowd not very happy with that one.
And I think that's one of the good things is that the crowd kind of plays an effect on these fouls.
The refs start questioning whether they're really real or not.
And the fact that you give back fouls when you call a bad one is a real thing for referees.
I've talked to referees before.
It's a real thing.
For sure.
Sideline, out of bounds, gets in for Finley, trying to work here.
Top of the key finds Max Roth, dribbling on Janowski back in for the tribbling.
Chargers in the corner finds Mason Brandt swings at top of the key Mikai Elmore working on Woodham's
drives to the left floater good tough shot there 11 to 10 here chargers down one with 13 20 to play
McCollum trying to break the press can't find anybody has to throw it away stolen by mcai Elmore
press giving him trouble Iope low down low lay up good your score 13 to 10 charges down three
press continues here for Finley they get into McCollum swings it to root
Finley loving this press right now, but you can't let them go on a run here.
Janowski breaks it, drive into the middle of the floor, spins back,
finding McCollum on the left wing, 18 on the shot clock.
Top of the key, Janowski.
Fines Ruter on the right wing.
Down low, McCollum, back door cut, good.
Good, find by Rueder, the layups good, your score 13 to 12.
Stolen away by McCollum.
Turnover from the Oilers.
Back the other way, McCollum.
Driving, tough layup blocked.
Great play there.
just a great steel.
Oilers looking to force it a little bit.
McCollum completely paying attention.
It looks like a DB out there in coverage.
Starters back in, full subs for the Oilers.
Your score 13 to 12, Chargers, down one.
Yeah, now that you see their playstyle,
you see why the Oilers subs so much.
They are run pressure the entire game.
12, 36 here.
Baseline out of balance.
Chargers get into Janowski.
Top the key.
Driving.
Fade away.
Mid-range.
Won't go.
Bat around.
Glazer going for the rebound. It's going to be knocked out of bounds.
Oiler basketball.
So early on here, I think the storyline is don't turn the ball over.
Your half-court offense is better than their half-court defense.
As long as you don't give it up on the press, you're going to beat them every time.
Back the other way. Here come the Oilers.
Anthony Johnson on the right wing finds Jagger landers working on Glazer.
They're going to get a foul there on Glazer as he was getting back down.
Look like you might have used his knee. They normally call that.
Yeah.
A little bit of a shove there.
Glazer just trying to play some good defense.
Never could really get his body set beneath him.
Unfortunate foul there.
Baseline out of bounds for the Oilers.
They get it in to their guard.
Jake Bishop tipped around. Balls loose.
He recovers it. Finds Anthony Johnson.
Great pass. The lander's good.
Wow. What an incredible pass there.
Finding him underneath the basket like that over the top on a fake shot.
Tough press again. Beeson gets it in the corner.
Try to find something.
Pressed away. Finds Router.
and the Chargers break up they look to run.
McCollum with numbers.
McCollum, driving.
Great defense there.
Swings it to Router on the left wing.
Setting up the offense.
15 on the shot clock.
Router on the left wing working on El Jasek.
Finds Beeson.
Coming off the screen from Glazer, top of the key.
Beeson, step back three ball, won't go.
Yeah, and Finley very, very, very aggressive in the paint.
Probably going to draw some fouls off ball later in the game
as the refs look towards that.
Al Jassick working on Router.
Tough defense stolen away by Reuter dives on the floor balls loose gets it to McCollum
Chargers coming back the other way McCollum finds Beeson Chargers set up their offense here right-wing
Janowski and that's why that fourth year senior is a leader on this basketball team plays like that
diving on the ground after a tipped away steel Janowski working here mid-range pull up won't go in and out
rebound landers unfortunate missed there that's his shot it really just rolled around and
didn't find somehow didn't fall in 15 to 12 Chargers down
down three with just under 11 to play in this first half.
Landers working again on Glazer.
Backing them down.
Tough shot, blocked by Glazer.
Great defense.
Grudor gets the rebound and he's coming back the other way.
And Landers is going to get a foul.
High tempo game here.
We're going to get a media timeout.

Your score 15 to 12 with 10, 42 to play in this first first.
tap. What's going right for the Oilers does? They went on a little run there. Definitely the press.
Hills don't really, really strong against the press, especially with their subs.
And that'll be a big problem because if you can't get your subs in, your starters are never going to get rest.
And then they're not going to be able to beat the press either.
Exactly. I think we've seen it early is all 10, 11 guys that have been playing for the Oilers here early are great in that press.
The high energy, tough defense. But one thing I have noticed is the charges, when they break it, they do have numbers.
So hopefully to see them attack that when they finally do break it.
Yeah, the half-court offense for Hillsdale.
Once they get across that line, they dominate.
They've scored on many of their possessions and had great looks on basically every single one of them.
Chargers haven't really been able to stop them except for the press.
But when the press stops them, they've gotten easy baskets.
Yeah, it should be exciting to see what the Chargers have to kind of correspond.
Good media timeout for them to get a little breather here.
But most starters all in for each team, sideline out of bounds here for the Chargers.
They have possession.
Yeah, I would not be surprised.
at all if coach Kevin Bradley had some plays drawn up for when they get pressed that first time.
Tough defense on the inbound, get it into the corner to Big Rick, driving on landers.
On the low block, swings it out, Woodham's.
He'll take the rhythm three ball, won't go.
Rebound Aljastic, tipped around.
It's going to be off Joe Ruter.
Finley basketball here.
We'll get the baseline out of bounds.
15 to 12, charges down three.
Anthony Johnson taking it up here for the Oilers.
finds in the corner Jake Bishop.
Bishop working on Janowski, finds Johnson.
On the left wing, swings it in the corner here.
Josh Turbin, swings it to Landers, Landers in the post,
finds El Jasek.
He'll take the deep three.
We'll go.
Your score, 18 to 12, big shot by the Oilers,
and the press continues.
Yeah, crowd's got to get a little bit more into it,
kind of going silent here after the Oilers have been on a little bit of a run
in the last couple of minutes.
Janowski gets it in here.
Crossing half court set up the offense with 23 on the shot clock.
Woodham's top of the key.
Swings it to Ruter.
Left wing Ruter.
Fines big rig at the top of the key.
Trying to get into that offense.
Fines Ruter on the left wing.
Down low.
Woodhams with the size advantage.
Goes to the cup and he's filed.
Yeah.
Double team, double team, double team.
That is the mantra for the Oilers here early.
Anybody who gets the ball in the paint
and anybody who gets it before half court is immediately going to be double-teamed,
no matter where who,
they are. Chargers is able to get it down low to Charles Woodham's a big guard has a huge size
advantage on Jake Bishop's who's only six foot 180. First shot is up and good for Woodham's.
Your score 18 to 13. A couple of subs coming in here and there it is the hockey subs for
Finlay. High and strength there for Woodhams. It's not just a tall thing it's he is stronger than those
defenders beneath. Like we mentioned Chargers when they get into that half court offense try to take
advantage of that size down low, get some easy baskets, get that crowd back into it.
Second shot, the line here for Woodhams is up and good.
Your score 18 to 14 with 942 in the first half.
Back in the game, Max Roth at point guard for the Oilers.
Fides Mike Elmore working on Woodhams.

Swings it over to Iopolo, working on Rooder.
Swings to the corner to Brand.
Working on McWinney drives to the middle.
Swings into the corner, Iopolo, three ball.
Corner will go.
It was a great find there.
It looked like nobody was ever.
ever going to be open there for the oilers, but somehow finds that corner pass.
Ball tipped around on the steel and it's going to go off the Chargers.
Once again, that press causing problems.
Your score 21 to 14.
Finley's going to have a baseline out of bounds at their own basket.
Yeah, got to get off the press.
And once again, as soon as he touched that ball, he was double team.
Every single time.
Chargers are having a hard time.
When they inbound it, it's always in the corner, makes it easy to get that trap.
Inbound goes to Alex Kendall
Back to Max Roth
Who'll set up the offense
Top of the key here for the Oilers
High screen
Swings it over to Max Brand
Back to Roth
He's working drives to the left

Janowski gets the screen for Big Rick
Working driving to the midrange
kicks it out
Left wing three McCollum won't go, tipped around. Big Rick tips it around.
It's going to be off him, Finley basketball.
Another phenomenal look, though.
I mean, that was a wide-open three-pointer, and you're going to miss those sometimes.
But having Mikey McCollum shooting wide-open three-pointers,
that's a theme for a dominant offense in a day.
Chargers down 21-14 here, and that 11th man checks in for the oiler, Steel Meister.
Steel Meister.
It's great name.
Like the Heat Meister.
Bringing it up here, Max Roth on the left wing.
Gets a screen here from Iopolo, Bex to Mackay Elman on the right wing.
Kai Elmore, step back, three ball, in and out, won't go.
Tough rebound, McCollum.
I'm not going to lie, I think Woodham might have got a hand on that one.
McCallum trying to break that press off the rebound, finds Janowski, the charges get a pass half court.
Janowski guarded tough ear by Steele Meister.
Fines Garrett Boltey, down low, finds Woodham's wide up and lay up.
Good.
Great pass there.
Woodham scores 21-16. Chargers down five.
I mean, the backdoor cart was literally wide open there.
Mackay Elmore, top of the key for the Oilers.
Guarded by Woodham.
Fines Max Brandt in the corner.
He'll take the deep three ball.
In and out, won't go.
Good box-out, rebound, big wreck.
Chargers look to push here, McCollum.
Fines Garrett Boltee here.
Chargers are looking to get a pass half-court they do.
Bolty.
Not doubled here.
Finds Woodham's top of the key with 20 on the shot clock.
21-16 with 730 to play
Janowski top of the key
finds big Rick at the left wing
he looks to drive here on Iopolo
to size advantage

your score 21 18
Chargers down three back the other way
here comes Steel Meister
high tempo from the Oilers
Iopolo top of the key Max Roth
guarded by McChallum here
seven to go in this first half
yeah Oilers you can look and use at 11
man range to their advantage. Steel Meister deep three ball good. Here's score 2418 oilers respond to the
three ball of their own. Fulty trying to find McCollum he does they get a past half court down low
what I'm striving size advantage they're going to call a charge great job by steelmeister to stay in there
it's going to take us to a media timeout you're listening to radio for heelsdale 101.7 FM

Charger basketball, a little run there from Steel Meister, the 11th man.
Yeah, I mean, shooting a three from the logo, and it's not like the charges have that big of a logo.
And then back the other way, stands in there against the bigger guard, Wottoms, and takes a charge.
Yeah, I mean, dominant performance there, dominant two, what would you call that?
Back-to-back plays.
Yeah, the score stop there.
Your score 2418 chargers only down six, though, they've been able to stop the bleeding when they need to.
Yeah, the offense has been great when the guys across half the course.
It's been wide open looks, great shots.
I mean, they're looking under control offensively once they can get against that man on man.
But in the double teams is where they've really struggled, especially before half court.
Also for the Chargers, when they're able to get the ball, get a good shot, and then play defense, set up their defense.
I mean, Finley's had to make some crazy shots, step back threes, deep threes.
So when the Chargers aren't giving up easy buckets off turnovers, they've done a great job.
Yeah, look into, once again, beat that press.
And, you know, I think that'll be the story of the game.
That's why Hillsdale, or not Hillsdale, Finnsdale, Finland,
the average is like 15 steals a game.
Back the other way. Finley
Ball here. Swings it
to Mackay Elmore on the wing, working on Woodham.
Gets to the mid-range.
Crossover. Pull up midi. We'll go.
Tough bucket there, 26, 18.
Yeah, that is the one game. It seems to be able to crate on his own
whenever he wants to. Rooter able
to get a past half court here for the Chargers.
They have the advantage here. Logan Beeson
drives. Swings it, Router.
Top of the key, Janowski, driving, working,
Turn around, mid-range, rattles around, won't go.
Tough rebound, Steelemeister.
Wow, he couldn't even believe that didn't go in.
I mean, it rolled around so many times.
Top of the key, Mason-Brant here working on C.J. Yerian in the corner, Mackay Elmore.
Dumped down low.
Steel Meister, lay up, good.
Your score, 28, 18, with 5.56 to play.
Steelmeister has a little bit of a mismatch.
Kind of a bigger dude, not very tall, but working against Ashtonowski.
He was a skinnier guard.
Chargers get it past half court.
Fine. Woodham's three ball won't go long.
rebound back to Beeston.
Top of the key here, Janowski.
28, 18, 538 to play.
Janowski on the left wing.
Hewzol has been down like this in games before, and they've been able to come back.
Pull up mid-range.
Janowski, that one's pure.
Fines it, 28, 20. Chargers down eight.
Coming back the other way, the point guard, Max, Roth for the Oilers.
Roth, driving on Janowski, finds Brand.
Grant looks to drive on Beeson finds
Mackay Elmore working on Woodham's
balls tipped around, balls free
on the ground, controlled by the
Chargers stolen by Yerian. He finds
Janowski coming back through the way the charges with numbers.
Janowski in the mid-range
finds Ruder top of the key. Back to
Janowski. Down low, C.J.
Yerian on the block, swings it to Ruter top of the key.
Driving, tough take.
They're going to get a block there.
Trying to stand in there as a smaller guard, Max Roth
on Joe Ruder. He was trying to stand in,
but his foot widened as he was
taking that charge and I think because of that he turned too much to the side to get a charge.
Coming back in all the starters for the Oilers, 28-20 here with 4-58 to play Chargers with a baseline
out of bounds here.
Coleman Quinty back in the game for the Chargers.
He's been subbed out pretty quick because Janowski has been the one person who's been able to beat the pressure all day.
Joe Ruter in the corner.
He'll take the three ball.
Won't go.
Rebound, clear it away by Josh Turbin.
Coming back the other way, Anthony Johnson on the left wing working on Dyson.
Screen by Landers.
Top of the Key Johnson swings it over here.
Finds Jake Bishop driving on McWinney.
Bishop in the post on the block.
Working on McWinney, floater will go.
Your score 30 to 20 with 433 to play.
Quenny gets it in and a foul there on Bishop.
Yeah, great job there by McQuinney.
Getting open, doing that little double hesitate.
Unfortunately, God double team,
but able to draw the foul on the strong hands.
Charles Woodham subbed out for Mike's McCollum.
Your score 30 to 20, 4.30 to play in this first half.
coming into the game.
Mackay Elmore, he's going to spark off the bench.
He's going to get a run with the starters here.
Ruters inbound goes the Arian.
Stans back, finds Ritter, Chargers trying to break the press.
Aljanic with the press here, gets it into Yarian.
Chargers trapped.
Balls tipped around, off the Oilers.
I think new strategy here for the Chargers is get the ball to the center.
It's the one guy who seems to not be chasing all the way down in full court.
30 to 20, sideline out of bounds, 420 to play.
Ball gets into McWenning guarded by Anthony Johnson.
High pressure.
Finds the left wing to Router.
Swings it over in the corner to McCollum, top of the key Router.
Looking to work on Al JASic.
Swings and he got him with a foul.
I thought he was going to make that.
Yeah, Rooder.
Rood just threw it up after the foul.
No look, just straight up behind the back and hits off the rim.
And I thought for a second that was going in.
We're going to call it on the floor.
Going to be a baseline out of bounds here.
Beeson gets it into Yerry.
He'll take the corner three ball, won't go.
Back the other way here comes Anthony Johnson.
On the right wing.
Those big guys do like to shoot for Hillsdale.
Swing down low. Jackson Landers, blocked away by Router.
Looks like an open layup for Landers.
Ruters flies in, it makes a big play.

You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM Charger basketball.
Your score 30 to 20, chargers down 10 with 356 to play.
It's going to be an out-of-bounds for the Oilers.
What's going right here for the Oilers as they continue to build on this lead?
I mean, once again, it's been that full-court press, although their offense on half-court has been getting going a little bit.
their top point scorer.
Willa Jansick has...
Willa Jansick really has only had two points, I believe.
Sorry, it's Mackay.
Mackay Elmore has turned it up a little bit,
made some moves, had some stepback shots.
He's been really the only guy producing
on that half-court offense.
On the other hand, the Chargers have figured out a way
to beat the press.
They have their big man center,
either C.J. Yarian or Eric Radicevich,
checking back to the ball,
and the defender, whoever's on them,
is the only person who seems not to be following
the whole full court.
press. So they pass it into him and he gets it right back to the inbounder and then you can't double
team. Yeah, the charges have done a good job breaking the press, but then in that half court offense,
it seems like they're kind of lethargic and a little tired after breaking that press. Shot clock
gets down and they haven't been able to find an easy bucket. So see what they have as an answer here
from Coach Bradley. Inbound goes in here to Anthony Johnson. Top of the key with 20 on the shot clock.
Finds landers. He's working on Yerian. Back to Al Jansick working on Ruter. He drives baseline,
tough take, layup, good.
Looked for a foul, didn't get one.
Chargers breaking the press fast here to Beeson.
He gets it in the half court.
Press shows.
Swings it to McWinney.
McWinney finds Beeson on the left wing.
Top of the key, Reuter.
Fines McCollum getting a screen here from Yerian, back to McGwinney.
Top of the key here, Yerian on the right wing.
Swings it to the corner, Beeson.
Pump take.
Open midi.
Won't go.
Balls tipped around.
Rebound landers.
Here come the Finley Oilers back through the way.
Balls free on the ground.
Tipped around.
Stolen by McCollum.
Beeson with numbers.
Finds McWinney.
He drives.
Kick out McCollum.
Top of the key.
McWinney, swings it to the corner.
Router looks to drive.
Tough take, and it's good.
Joe Ruter scores.
Your score, 32, 22,
with just under three to play.
Yeah, it's great ball movement.
I mean, the chargers don't have as many subs as Finley,
so they're definitely getting a little bit tired.
Ball's free, tipped around by Ruder.
He jumps on it.
They're going to get a foul on Ruter as he went for the jump ball on a great tip.
Jansik on the floor.
Great effort by Ruder.
upset with the call is he wanted to jump
ball there. Yeah, ball is on top of him
and the player's laying down and
Ruter kind of just tried to jump on it making sure he couldn't get
a pass away. I think that
they thought he landed on his head. I think that that was why they called
the foul. Yeah, it looked like he was going
for the ball but kind of a physical play,
probably the right call at the end of the day, but a great
hustle play in Ruter's defense has kind of
sparked this run where the charges are trying to
stop here from Finley.
That's still a 10 point game, but a lot of basketball
left to play and a whole other half. Hillsdale,
one thing Kevin Bradley has done is done is
made great half-time adjustments.
Top of the key, Josh Turbin, finds Mackay Elmore.
Ruder on Al Jansick, finds Landers.
Landers looking to go to work on Woodhams.
And he tips it off his own foot out of bounds.
Chargers get a turn over there.
Big play there.
Finley able to set up their press year, Ruber with the inbounds on the sideline.
32, 22, 230 to play.
Ruder trying to find anybody to get it into.
He finds Woodhams.
Looking to break the press here.
Working on Turban.
And they finally set a screen there to get Woodham's open.
Press shows.
Janowski working on Landers.
Back to McCollum on the right wing.
Ruter's top of the key here working.
Working on Aljcic swings it.
Janowski.
Working on Landers.
Bigger guard finds Woodhams.
He'll take the pull-up midi.
Tough shot won't go.
Rebound cleared by Al Jansick.
Yeah, really, really deep two there.
You'd almost love him to take a step back and just shoot the three-pointer.
Landers down low, working on Woodham.
Blocked off the backboard by Ruter.
physical play and they're going to get a foul. Chargers went in for the rebound after a block off the backboard by Ruter.
They're going to get a push on the Chargers.
First one on McCalla, or check that Janowski's first foul. Baseline out of bounds here for the Oilers with two to play.
32, 22.
Yeah, Coach Kevin Bradley is upset about something. I was trying to see what he was pointing at, but I couldn't really tell.
It looked like both guys are going for the ball.
Called a foul there.
Down low, Ruter with a steel off the inbound and a foul on Aljantic.
That could be big here as Woodham's is going to get the one-in-one.
Yeah, early here.
Two minutes left and you're already in the one-on-one, meaning any rebounding foul.
Any foul in an inbound will automatically be one shot for the Chargers and possibly second.
Huge play again by Reuter on that in-mounds.
He's everywhere on defense right now getting that steal.
He might have six tipped-away balls and four steals.
He's got a couple blocks here that have been huge as well.
First one from Woodham's at the line.
It is up and no good.
Ruder tips it around. He's going to get the rebound for the Chargers.
Glazer gets it out to Woodham's.
Yeah, he's not going to get it on the stat sheet because Wadham's,
because Glazer ended up with it.
But definitely credit to him there.
McCollum driving, tough take, lay up high off the glass.
Good. And one, Mikey McCallum.
And that's it. The crowd is getting into it.
That is a change of pace right there.
A steal, an offensive miss, but a rebound.
And now you have the N-1.
Your score 3224 checking back in here for Finley is Alex Kendall for Landers
What a take there.
Landers second.
Earl's going to check in point guard.
Max Roth.
Huge play there by Ruter.
Once again, the effort plays.
He's able to tip the ball, tipped around, corralled by Glazer.
They get a great drive by McCallum and he's got a chance to get three points the old-fashioned way.
This free throw is up and good.
Your score 32-25.
Slimest margin it's been in a while.
145 to play in this first half.
Max Roth on the left wing.
And the hill still started to pick up momentum
as the crowd is getting louder here in Dawn Tibb.
It's Potter Arena.
Anthony Johnson driving.
I'm a column.
Al Jaskin took the three ball, but he walked.
Charger fans called it out and they're going to call it.
Trying to step back to take a three,
but they're going to get them.
Your score 3225, minute 30.
Yeah, none of the Chargers fans are very happy about that one.
Immediately knew that that was a call.
All quick inbounds to Woodhams.
He's got numbers.
Oh, what a move to the cop Woodham's blocked away.
Great defensive play by Max Brand.
Balls tipped away.
Router.
It's going to be off the Oilers.
Another effort play by Router and the Chargers get possession back.
Yep.
So you have a great move, missed layup, but you're getting that possession back because of a Finley error and another great play by Ruter.
32, 25.
Once again, minute 30.
Sideline out of bounds here for the Chargers.
20 on a shot clock to work.
McCollumelmo inbound.
Bynchinooski in the back court. He'll dribble it up working on Anthony Johnson.
McCollum. Fines Woodhams.
Back to McCallon, top of the key here.
Glazer swings it over to Woodham's. He's going to go to work here.
Tough drive, Woodhams. The big guard. No foul called.
Balls tipped around. Great effort by Glazer. Balls on the floor.
Stolen, taken back by Aljcic. Back the other way, tipped again.
No easy baskets. Chargers is making it tough. 32, 25. Tipped around.
For a second there, you definitely thought that Finley was going to have a wide open layup or a wide open dunk,
but great effort there by the Chargers all around.
Max Brandt's subbing out here from Mackay Elmore, the instant offense for the Oilers.
Yeah, for the Chargers here, you want to bring this game back into within five at Max and probably within one score.
32, 25 minutes of play.
Oiler basketball here.
Finds the point guard Max Roth, and he's going to take his time here, guarded by Ashton Janowski.
High screen by Al Jasek.
Drives, mid-range, tough shot, good.
34-25 with a minute to play.
Chargers get it into Woodhams.
Looking to find a man here.
The back court finds Router, swings it over to McCollum, who corrals it,
gets a past half-court with 23 on the shot clock.
36 seconds to play.
34-25, Router.
Driving on Mackay Elmore, the smaller, spins back to the middle.
What a take, Router!
34-27, and a great take-by-Rudor.
shot clock turned off for the Oilers.
Yeah, double reverse under the basket and a reverse layup.
I mean, phenomenal spin move there by Router.
34-27, the Oilers are going to have the last shot here.
Max Roth taking his time with 12 here.
Don Tibbitt's defense, chance wranging out.
Ten the Chargers is going to stop, heading into half.
Roth.
Fines Anthony Johnson, five on the shot clock.
Balls tipped around again by Router.
Balls free and that's going to end the half with a Router stop.
Your score, 34, 27.
Evan, you're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM Charger Basketball. I'm Gordy, and I'm Evan.
And welcome back to Don Tibbitts-Paterina. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM Charger basketball.
Your score 3427 here as the teams come back out for warm-ups. What do the chargers need to do to continue on that run?
They kind of finish the half with.
I mean, the first thing that they did was they did a better job of beating the press.
They had the big man come up and receive the press.
They had three and four guys coming back to receive the press, making double moves, setting some screens, getting the ball inbounded easier than it wasn't a double team right away.
Other than that, I mean, they've played better than Finley outside of the Finley's press.
Yeah, for sure.
And like we said, when you get a press like that, you get so many easy baskets, good looks.
And Finley's had to make tough shot after tough shot when they're just in the straight up half court.
Obviously, they're a good team ranked top 10 in the nation, so they have the ability to do that.
But the only guy that we've really seen that has the capability to do it consistently has been Mackay Elmore off the bench.
That left-hand shot, it's so pretty.
A lot of stepbacks, a lot of tough moves, and he gets to the cup.
And the storyline for the day is for the Chargers is Joe Ruter.
I mean, play after play, after play, he has made.
Just looking at his stats, which I cannot find.
A lot of stuff he does, too, outside of the stats.
It's just you don't see it.
Tipped rebounds, tipped passes, tough defense, boxing out.
It's stuff like that that is going to lead the chargers back into it.
And we saw him flying around and the crowd getting really into it.
He had a couple blocks, a couple steals, a couple tip passes, like we mentioned.
And that's been huge.
And the other thing, he's guarding their best player, Al Jassik, who averages about 60 in the game.
And I think he has five so far in this first half.
He's kind of been shut down offensively.
I think he made a three and then had a nice layup.
Might have seven, a couple.
But that being said, he hasn't been an off.
offensive powerhouse that we might have expected. Yeah, he has seven points and three rebounds.
He's one for one from three, which is the big reason why. But other than that, I mean,
Ben shut down, not even been able to take a lot of shots today. Yeah, and the Chargers, like we said,
that half-court defense has been pretty phenomenal. A lot of the shots are toughly contested.
They had a couple nice layups with Jagger Landers, tough name there, but he's been a great player in the
post for them. And the Chargers, because they've been so sped up,
and having to use that big man to break the breast.
They haven't been able to get many post touches.
Yeah, and they have been, Finley has been making those tough shots.
They're going to do that.
They're one of the best teams in the nation.
Before this loss this week, they were ranks number five.
We don't know what they're going to be ranked now.
They're going to make tough shots.
But limiting the easy shots, that's been huge for the chargers.
Welcome back here.
We're underway.
Second half start, charges with the basketball.
Ashtonowski gets it in, top of the key, finds Bissom.
Back to Janowski, getting in their set, Woodhams.
go right to the post. Big Rick.
Size advantage. Punches at home with the dunk.
What a dunk there by Big Rick to start the half.
3429.
And just like that, the leads down to five.
Early, huge points for the chargers.
Anthony Johnson back the other way, working on Big Rick.
Tough layup, good.
High off the glass.
Your score 3629.
Two quick buckets here.
Logan Beeson breaks the past driving.
Tough pressure.
Balls tipped around.
He gets it in.
Ruter.
Swings it top of the key.
Janowski.
finds Beeson on the left wing.
Going to work here on Josh Turbin.
Down low on the corner here.
Joe Ruter pull up, tough mid-range.
Won't go.
Rebound tipped around, corralled by Landers.
Back out to the point guard, Bishop.
As great of a game as he wants.
I didn't love that shot choice from Joe Ruder, from you honest.
Left wing, Johnson, working on Wottom's tough drive to the cop, layup.
We're going to get a foul on him, missed the layup, so he's going to get two shots here.
Early we have seen Anthony Johnson being aggressive, small guard, but he is.
had a couple guys off the bounce here early.
And that first one, he had a great matchup on him,
got the switch and got Radissovich on him,
who is, you know, big.
You're not going to back him down,
but he's got some speed on Radizovich for sure.
Crowd got into it.
He was able to respond after that Big Rick dunk.
His first free throws up and no good.
36-29, 8-59 early here in this second half.
But yeah, Big Rick, like we mentioned,
get those post touches.
You have the size advantage they did.
Big Rick dunked at home.
Crowd getting loud here on this second three.
Throw, hoping to make a miss.
Johnson's second one is up and good.
37-29 lead back up here to eight for the Oilers.
Router able to break the press easily, finds Beeson in the corner.
Top of the key, Ruter.
Setting up the offense, working on turbine.
No one I so here.
Ruter swings it to Janowski.
He drives.
Kick out.
Corner to Wudoms on Johnson.
Down low, back to Big Rick.
Spins baseline.
Swings it out.
Top of the key, Woodams.
Get tough drive. Lay up no good. Rebound. Ruter good. Tip in is good. 3731. And it's good to see Ruter already getting in from his first half action. He was hot and there at the end of the first and here he is hot once again.
Bishop top of the key for the oilers. Swings into Turbin. Defense chance deep three from Landers. Good. From the parking lot 40 to 31. A big response.
With the 6-9, the Eric Radicevich in his face too. Logan Beeson trying to break that press. He does.
Tough defense swings it over Woodhams.
Open three ball.
Looking to respond.
Won't go.
Rebound scanned away there by a Jasek.
40-31.
Chargers down nine.
But another great look.
I mean a wide open three.
Deep three here, pumped.
Finds landers.
He'll take another one after the make.
Won't go.
A little bit of a heat check.
Rebound Router.
That went all the way off the bagboard.
Never even touched the rim.
Find In Janowski in the cornerback the other way.
The Chargers are looking to find Big Rick in the post.
They do.
Guarded by Langeck.
Lander. Size advantage, double comes. Patient, great cut by Janowski. Tough, left-handed layup won't go. In and out, rebound landers.
Back the other way, Bishop. Larder, finds a Jassick. He spins, pulling away by Ruder. What a play there.
Joe Ruder driving, size advantage, tough taking, he's foul.
Once again, Joe Ruder playing tough defense. 40 to 31 here, Chargers down nine with a chance to cut it to seven with two shots from Rueh.
Yeah, I mean, if you had a game MVP, and this game was another 10 minutes long, he didn't have.
a single stat, he would still be the game
MVP. I mean, what he is doing on the defensive end
guarding Al JASIC, probably an all
GMAC type player this season, and
just not giving him anything. First one's up and
good for Router. Checking in is C.J.
Yarian for Big Rick. 40 to
32 here, 1723
to play in this half. Things are
going to start getting loud in here as a crowd
rooting on the Chargers.
Second one for Rooters is up,
rims out, rebound Aljassic. He'll
clear it away to Bishop.
One of the big things for the Chargers that Askin
Janowski,
He's had a great night and getting open looks, but he's had a lot of baskets roll around and roll out.
So eventually when those baskets start falling, he's going to be hot real quick.
Anthony Johnson in the mid-range, looking to work here on what I'm striving.
Tough.
Can't find anything.
Finds Landers in the left wing.
Working on the area.
To the middle.
Landers, tough take.
Great defense.
Rebound Al Jasek.
They're going to get the over-the-back on him, and I think that might be his third.
Ruder boxed him out.
Didn't have a choice but to go over him.
He's very, very upset about that.
And that's huge for the Chargers.
Actually only a second foul, but still huge for the Chargers,
drawing fouls on players like that.
Even though they play so many players, these starters are key
as they are high-volume scores for the Oilers.
Inbound here, Router looking.
Fines Yerian, back to Ruter, quick inbounds.
Router's got an ISO here.
Swings it to Beeson, guarded tightly by Turbin,
gets it past half court.
Charger fans want to foul.
They don't get one left-wing, Yerian.
Back to Ruter, top of the key, working on Al Jasek.
Down low.
Janowski.
Open layup. Got it. Buckets good. 40 to 34.
Affindley really, really poor in those bag, guarding those backthor cuts.
Haven't been able to get that press going landers here working on Eerie and on the low block.
On the right block, trying to get Yerian, drives.
Just throws one up over his shoulder and goes in.
Didn't even look at the rim and it falls.
I mean, he literally shot it straight backwards.
Looked like one of my horse shots.
Chargers beat the press again with ease.
Wudham's open three ball big shot won't go
tough rebound clear away by Turbin Anthony Johnson
42 34 16 to play he's got it on the right wing
Anthony Johnson looking to work on Wudams
finds Turbin back to the point guard here
Jake Bishop gets a screen from Al Jassack working
Anthony Johnson drives
finds Landers on the left wing he takes a deep three
good again from Landers
45 34 here in the biggest lead
we've seen in a while. He's been hot. Don't let Landers shoot the ball anymore.
They break the press once again. Open three. Corner, Beeson. Chargers need it.
Won't get it. Ball is cleared away by Landers and a quick foul by Yarian.
That's going to take us to a media timeout. You're listening to Radio for Hillsdale 101.1.7 FM.
Charger basketball. I'm Gordy. And I'm Evan.
Is the car all packed? Yep. Camping gear? Check.
Smoors and hot dogs? Check.
What about the old camping?
Camping Radio.
Well, we won't be needing that because you can still get all of Radio Free Hillsdale's
great shows and features online at Radio Freehillsdale.com under the student shows and features
tab or wherever you get your podcast. Anytime, anywhere.
All right then. Let's hit the road.
Radio Free Elstale, 101.1.7 FM. Charger basketball. Your score 45, 34. Chargers down 11.
What do they got to do to keep cutting this lead? I mean, to be honest, they're down 11 right now just
because of how they played in that first half.
I mean, Chargers have been getting
great open looks right now, and they haven't
been hitting them. Yeah. And they had
two deep, deep threes
that have both gone in for the Oilers.
It's just shooting at this point. And, you know,
that changes directions throughout the
game, so I don't think the Chargers really need to change
anything. They just need to start hitting the shots
that they should be hitting. Yeah, two open threes
back to back, one from Woodhams, one from Beeson.
Like we said, they needed them.
Couldn't find them, but they're getting much
easier looks because they're breaking the press
with ease. Yeah, press has not been a problem
so far this half. It's just been
shooting and you wonder if that's a little bit
of fatigue. Oilers
sub, sub, sub, sub.
Their guys are all hot. Their guys are all ready.
The Chargers subbed even less today than
they usually do. Usually they're pretty
deep but Ashtonowski played pretty
much the whole game and so is Woodhams.
Yeah, interesting to see here, Landers
the guys with two deep threes get
subbed out, full line change for the
Oilers. Back the other way.
Inbounds here goes to Max Ross
set him to the offense finds Mikey Elmore.
Back on the corner, Mikai Elmore on the right wing, working on Woodham's drives baseline.
Tough defense.
Pass to put up a crazy shot and it goes.
Elmore, 47-34 now.
Largest lead of the game.
Just another crazy shot that should have never went in, but it does.
Chargers break the press.
Janowski coming back the other way, driving.
Tough take.
Yerian, looking for something here, finds the corner guarded by Ian Ayupelo.
Janowski, scanning, finds Woodham's tough cut,
dishes it down, off the hands of Yerian.
Back the other way, comes Brandt.
Unfortunately, Yerian was already going up for the rebound
because otherwise I think he would have a really easy basket there.
Brant takes it to the cup,
pounded by the defense, open three ball there
from Alex Kendall won't go, tipped around.
Going to go to the Chargers.
Yeah, I mean, once again, shooting.
Shooting's been the difference.
Chargers are getting some great looks.
great drives. They just can't seem to score right now. Your score 47-34 chargers down to the number
five team in the nation right now at home. Fines McWinney, open three. One more. Fines Woodham's,
open three ball. Got it. Winnie needed it most, 47, 37. And there it is. You keep shooting those
wide-open shots they're going in. Great one more pass from McWenney. It's going to make your score,
like we said, 47-37-14 to play. Grant on the wing working on McWinney. Fines Max
Roth here left wing. Roth.
We're going to work on McCallum.
Fines Grant, top of the key.
Swings it to McCoy Elmore on the left wing.
Elmore trying to find someone down low.
Nobody home throws it out of bounds.
Yeah, it's a great job by Yerian.
His band's constantly setting picks and trying to roll
and not only in Sierra covering him, but he's also hedging the three-pointer.
Joe Ritter coming out for the first time in a while for the Chargers trying to get a breather.
47-37-37 to play.
McWinney gets it in.
Back to McWurney.
Chargers trying to break the press with their backups in here.
Fines, Bolty, swings at Woodhams.
Woodham's will attack, finds Yerian.
Great pass and great finish by Yerian.
47-39 now. Chargers down eight.
Yeah, chargers right here starting to hit those shots.
Like we said, don't change anything.
It's just the shots.
You're just going to start falling at a certain point, and the Oilers won't anymore.
Roth, tough mid-ranger over.
McCollum will fall.
Another tough basket for the Oilers, 49-39.
McCollum gets it in.
He's got numbers.
He'll push.
finds Yerian.
Yerian will take it himself.
Tough take, won't go.
Rebound Brand.
Yarian, look for a foul,
and get one back the other way.
Here comes Roth.
Driving on Boltey.
He loves that mid-ranch.
He'll take it.
Won't go.
Tipped around, rebound McWinney.
Back the other way, the Chargers.
McWenney with numbers.
He'll drive.
Top of the key.
McWinney sets up the offense
with 23 on the shot clock.
Trying to find something here.
High screen from Yeran.
Driving.
Finds it.
McCollum.
Wide open, three ball.
won't go. Rebound Wottom, skies
for it, got it. McWenny will take it open
three ball, and he's filed.
McWenny's going to get three of them from the
line. I mean, that entire drive
up until that first shot, nobody
was covering Garrett Bullty, and the guy who
had to cover Garrett Bolte on a pass to him
came from Mikey McCollum.
Left him wide open, took a three-pointer,
get the offensive rebound, and now you got
three free throws. Great effort there by Charles
Woodham's to get that rebound to the line
here. Goes Cole McWenney.
Silent in the arena. First one's up and
Good. Your score 49.40 now. Chargers stay in within it.
How good of a free throw shooter is Colma Quiney.
Let's see. McWinney shoots only has seven attempts, 71%.
Normally a three-point guy. It doesn't get many shots at it, but got fouled on one of those
attempts. Second one is up and pure.
Chargers checking a Caleb Blazer here.
Gerian did a great job, getting some looks. Couldn't convert all of them, but
49-41 here. Last shot from McWinney. Chargers keeping it close.
12-48 to play
Landers checks back in along with Al Jasek
and all of the other starters
full line sub once again for Finley
third shot is up and good makes them all
big shot there from McWenny
49-42 and the crowd
is starting to get into it and you're able to cut it down
to a seven-point lead with Joe Ruder on the bench
and with Logan Beeson on the bench and with Ashtonowski all the bench
tough back door cut open Johnson good
51 42
Bolte trying to find someone here finds McCullough
he gets back to boltie boltie he'll take it up the floor here with ease they break the press once again
McWinney top of the key 20 on the shot clock chargers need a basket here 51 42
lines McCollum top the key back to McWinney we're gonna find something here he'll take a deep
three ball won't go rebound glazer tipped and he's going to keep it in bounds
tough there charges went for the rebound couldn't get it back the other way Anthony Johnson
and tough take. Layup won't go. Rebound, tipped off. Glazer. Going to stay here with Finley.
Yeah, the crowd really wanted that foul.
Arm came all the way down, and he did immediately get contact with the ball.
But then he went all the way through Glazer's head, and I believe that that was a missed foul call there.
Yeah, tough one there for the Chargers. Once again, an effort on the boards.
5142, baseline out of bounds here for the Oilers.
Chargers trying to cut this lead like they have been since half.
Deep in bounds goes to Landers.
He's going to find the point guard here.
Back out to Al JASIC. Tipped and Router. Tipped it off Al JASIC's foot.
And Router's got his number here.
It's going to take us to a media timeout.

Your score, 51, 42. Chargers down nine.
They seem to not be able to just cut into that lead.
Every time they score, the Oilers respond.
Yeah, but I believe that this charter team is finally finding a way to come.
comeback. They've had phenomenal looks.
You know, Finley's hitting some great shots. I got to give it to Finley here.
Hitting some great shots. Chargers are playing good defense.
No problems there. But when you find those tough looks and, I mean, you had the one shot where
a guy was not even facing the basket, tossed it backwards and it rolls in.
You're going to come back. You're going to come back. Can you cut the lead enough, though,
in enough time to make it a game? Because it is nine points is a big, is a big lead.
Nine points, but there is still 12 minutes left. Chargers will get the basketball after again.
A great defense play. Rooters has been on Al Jassel.
all game and he's causing trouble turnovers blocked shots tough defense and it's cost them here
charger's going to get the inbound here trying to cut that lead it is large but once again we said
the charges are playing some of their best basketball even though they're down yeah finley's still
staying in the price but chargers have had no problem with that in the second half as we say that
i have a tough time getting in but they get it into glazer back to rudder he'll work here on anthony
Johnson. Rooter gets a pass, finds Janowski offense will set up here on the left wing with 20 on the
shot clock. Janowski trying to find McCollum on the left wing he does. Set back in the top of the
key to Rooter. Working on Turbin, spins back, tough take. Crazy layup won't go out of bounds. Oh,
tough blazer. It's going to go the other way. The Oilers with a stop there on Router. Yeah, I think a little
bit of a heat check there for a Router on that layup. He really, really, really wanted it. He's been
amazing this entire game. By that one, maybe one he should.
should have passed off.
51, 42, just under 12 to play in this final half of basketball.
Landers gets it, has to throw it up, thought he had the back door stolen by McCallum.
Big stop there for the Chargers, 5142 coming back the other way.
Here comes Mikey McCallum.
Right wing, Router, top of the key, glazer.
Finds McCollum on the left wing.
Router's top of the key, working on Al Jasek.
Trying to find something here, he'll drive.
Left side, tough take, and he's fouled.
Al Jasek, that is his third, got him on the arm.
Ruter staying aggressive in that offense even after the miss.
Yeah, and that whole drive right there started by Mikey McCollum
looked for a little, passed it down to the big man and looked for a little backdoor cut.
Mikey McCollum able to box him out and almost looked like the pass was going to him originally.
First shot for Router is up and no good.
Checking in here, Charles Wottom's back in for the Chargers and Steel Meister is going to check in for Al Jasek.
He was a spark for them in that first half.
Hasn't played much, but had a three and a big charge that he drove.
Second shot for Router is up and no good as well.
Rims out.
5142, no harm, no foul there for the Oilers.
Yeah, really, really unfortunate.
Two shots that you kind of needed down late in a, down in the middle of the fourth or second half.
They're going to get either one in the fall.
Turban, top of the key, Stealmeister guarded by Router.
Turbin in the corner, finds Landers, deep, three ball again.
go landers seeing that rim greatly 54 42 deep ball charges get into boston he finds woodams here
chargers down big here can they find an answer download woodham's on the block working on johnson
double team comes finds jannowski open layup good 54 54 54 with 10 to play yeah i mean another great
shot there by landers he's three for three on his deep three points i don't know what he is on three's overall in
day but on those logos shots he's made all three of them bishop top the key working on
janowski drives and the middle spins back lines landers again guarded closely by glazer
anthony johnson working here right wing on woodham rudder goes through the steel doesn't get it
steel meister three ball cut 57 54 now open three baller goes chargers trying to find it in they do
ruder top of the key gets a pass half court a softer press here foul there rudder draws at steelmeister
Once again, open shots.
They make them.
Guarded shots, they make them.
Finley's made a lot of tough shots.
And Finley's had a lot of fouls,
but the fortunate thing for Finley is that they play 11 deep.
So those fouls are pretty widespread among their team.
I think only one player has three,
and that should be Al Jansick.
Their leading score, but he's been kind of quiet tonight.
It's been a kind of committee,
and Llanders having a great second half here.
Ball gets into Bolte, guarded by Meister.
Top of the key, Janowski, 57, 44,
just under 10 to play.
Janowski, tough drive, spins back middle, wide, open layoff.
Good. Janowski with a crafty finish, 57-46 now.
A phenomenal spin move, but a lot of points still for the chargers that they need here.
Anthony Johnson working on the right wing on Woodham's guarded Steelmeister here working on Big Rick.
Picks up his drill, finds Bishop top of the key.
Landers guarded closely by Boltie on the left wing.
Landers, driving baseline.
Not going to let him get another open shot.
He's going to take him down low here.
Hook shot.
Tough one won't go.
Rebound, Boltey.
Great defense.
Ball's tipped around.
Janowski controls it.
Great job there by Janowski.
Come in for the rebound, 57-46-9 to play Janowski driving.
Out of control, able to contain it here.
Cut by Boltie.
Swings it.
Corner three ball, Beeson won't take it.
Clines Woodhams.
Top of the key, Woodams with 13 on the shot clock.
Beeson down low to Big Rick.
Guarded by Turbin.
Big Rick with a size advantage.
Spins back, wide up and lay up.
Good.
57-48 now.
Big Rick with a response.
It'll sail hot right here on us, a little bit of a run.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a first.
Finley time out, but we're not going to get one.
Looking for some subs instead.
Top of the key turbine, swings it over to Bishop.
Defense chance reining out here. Bishop working on Janowski.
Spins back. Lay up wide open.
Won't go.
Off him on a foul.
Fans don't like it.
Looks like he got his arm.
57, 48.
Two shots here for Bishop at the line.
Looks like he just missed it.
Yeah, I mean, he was in the air.
He definitely, if there is any foul, it should have been on the ground before he
jumped up for the shot.
But apparently Rex do not agree.
with that and they're going to call a foul here two shots for bishop here he shoots it no good on the
first one about a 74% free-throw shooter and they're going to make all the subs but the shooter here
yeah i can hear the football players chanting right now ball don't lie yeah they're upset about the call
57 48 824 to play see if this one will go through bishop's second shot is good they're going to
sub him out here from a kylemore 10 point game 830 to play just about
Chargers inbound here,
Boltee on the baseline.
Volty running the baseline,
trying to find someone came.
Boltie gets it into Beeson, back to boltie.
And a great job there by Boltee,
knowing exactly how much time he had
and able to get it out at the last second.
Janowski dribbling, finds Bolte, top of the key.
He looks to drive.
Find Janowski, he goes to work.
Tough drive, Janowski.
Wide open layup, nobody home.
It's good.
58, 50 with 8 to play.
Yeah.
Great move there by Janowski.
And just open looks after open looks after open looks
after open looks for the chargers.
on offense all day here.
Top of the key here.
Max Roth in.
Looking to work on Janowski.
He spins back to the middle.
Tipped away by Big Rick, retained by Steelmeister.
Down low, finds Alex Kendall working on Big Rick.
Nine on the shot clock.
Balls tipped around.
Iopolo working on Boltie.
Four on the shot clock.
Roth has to take one from the parking lot.
Won't go.
Rebound Bolte.
Clear it away to Janowski.
Tipped by Roth.
Not able to keep it in.
they're going to say he got a timeout as Roth was flying in the air with the ball
and a timeout heads up play by the coach
and they're going to tee up coach there for the Chargers
not happy about it doesn't think he should be able to call a timeout
while he's floating in the air that's going to be costly for the Chargers
a couple free throws off of it for Finlay it doesn't quite make any sense
when you never had possession of the ball how do you get a timeout
his feet were never on the ground was just floating with it
talk about it.
Coach is not happy.
The technical free throws are going to hurt the charges with 7.30 to play here.
Down to eight.
They're going to get a couple of shots here and the ball.
Like we said, Chargers had a great stop play defense the whole time,
and then they have a lazy pass that gets tipped.
Huge play.
Yeah, so here, Finley was going to have the possession anyways,
but now they're going to get two free throws on top of it.
Could be a huge game changer here.
Yeah.
You're going to send their best guy to the line?
line for these.
And that could be detrimental for the charges, but we will see they, like we said, they're
getting so many great looks.
They're getting great looks.
Janowski, driving to the cup, everything.
I mean, they are getting so many easier looks.
They're playing great defense, making them make tough shots.
This was a chance for them to go on a run.
Now they lose the ball and a couple free throws.
And Coach Kevin Bradley still talking to the reps here as he left his assistant coach to talk
to the team.
I'm still really upset about that call.
thinks it's ridiculous. Now he's fired up.
He's getting into his coach, or he's getting into his team.
Tell him, hey, that's on me,
but we're going to make this back.
Yeah, we're getting fired up.
Don Timmitt's Futter Arena, home game, stacked or packed crowd.
Everybody knew how big of a game this was for the Chargers,
and here it is.
Eight minutes left, down eight, two free throws for the Oilers.
How much of a team are you?
Yeah, you got to go here.
Router's going to check back in their leader.
It's got a tough stop that turns into two free throws.
Looks like Finley's going to send Max Roth to the line.
Yeah.
At the free throw line, he shoots it on us 90%, so it makes sense why they chose him.
Yeah, only shot 19 on the season, so not a big sample size, but only missed two of those 19.
As the entire crowd is booing here.
First one's up and good.
59.50.
A couple of free untimed baskets here for the Oilers.
Eight minutes left, though.
still a lot of time in basketball,
only really if you look out of the four possession game.
He makes another one there, 60 to 50,
and they get the ball on the sideline out of bounds.
See how the charges respond to some adversity here.
You definitely need some quick baskets here.
When it starts to get below four minutes,
that way you start having to count possessions
and being down 10 points at that point is pretty detrimental.
I don't think the chargers need to press here.
They've got great looks.
Finley gets it into McCoy Elmore.
Gets a screen here.
Download Alex Kendall.
He's got a.
on Big Rick corner finds Iopolo
guarded by Router. Tough defense by Ruter.
Iopolo, top of the key to Roth.
Roth working on Janowski gets a screen
from Steelemeister. He'll take
a deep three ball, won't go rebound Router.
Chargers get a stop off of it.
Ruter driving to the
cup blocked away and it's off Router.
Steel Mister with a big block
and then it's going to go off Router.
Yeah, unfortunate for Router that
Big Rick just kind of ended up in front of him
where he wanted to go with that little
Euro step and they just kind of ran new
to each other and Rueh didn't get as high as you wanted to and able to get blocked.
And it's tough. He was laying on the ground after the shot, a little unbalanced and it goes
off of him. Finley Oilers with the ball here. 60 to 50, seven minutes to play. Top of the key,
Elmore. Elmore finds Kendall, top of the key working on Big Rick, swings it back to Roth.
He'll take a contested three ball. Tough one won't go. Ball's tipped around though, going to go back
to Iopolo. And Finley gets another shot. And these are the things that you just cannot let
happen at this point in the game. Elmore tipped around. They're going to say it stays here.
Looks like it might have been off of Finley. The crowd wants it, but a great job to get a hand in there.
Look like it was going to be an easy layup for Elmore.
Yeah, tip from behind. Look like it did come off in Finley. All the football players very disappointed
on that end of the basket. But the ref, the thing that doesn't make any sense to me is
why did this ref make that call and not the ref right behind the basket?
Yeah, he seemed to not call it. Didn't see it.
Baseline out of bounds gets it into Elmore.
Right wing I-O-Below.
Working on rotor drives, right-wing, tipped again.
We're going to get a foul on Woodhams.
Wow.
Looks like he picked it clean, but they're going to get a foul there on Woodhams.
A couple tough fouls for the chargers.
Yeah, I think the ref's a little bit upset on that technical foul
and the screaming from Coach Bradley, and they're kind of making him pay for it.
Roth's going to get the baseline out of bounds, looking for something here.
Having a hard time getting it in here.
It has to float it up, gets it into a lot.
Iopolo.
Ruter, tough defense.
They're going to get Ruter for another foul.
And the booze are going to rain out here.
Ruter, tough as third.
That's three fouls and five seconds for the Chargers and zero dribbles taken for the Oilers.
They just barely got it in.
And then Iopolo just turned Ruder guarding him.
And I said Router was in a cylinder.
Tough call.
Another baseline out of Bound zero Roth gets it in.
Iopolo is just going to fire one up off it.
Tough rebound, knocked away.
Chargers aren't going to be able to corral it.
third chance here down low iopolo working on rudder spins tough shot floater won't go ruder will sky and get the rebound
and there's going to be a foul back the other way rudder had a fight for that rebound and they got fouled yeah i mean
phenomenal composure by rudder everything just went wrong for you in the last 30 seconds of this game
maybe the last minute of this game with the technical foul with the free throws with the timeout in midair
and yet you stay composed you don't foul rudder gets it in jinnowsky back to rudder and he'll bring it
here. Fines Beeson. He's got open shot, won't take it. Back to Rooter with 24 on the shot clock.
Top of the key, Janowski. Six minutes to play, 60 to 50, charges down 10. Here we go. High ball
screen, Yerian. Pull up, mid-range. Janowski won't go. Yerian tips it around, gets the rebound.
Again, he's foul. Won't go. Two shots for Yerian. Great effort on the offensive flats.
Yeah, great job. He has the size advantage, and Finley just didn't look to box him out. They tried to grab the rebound
over him. That's something you can't do with a guy who's 610. Yeah, he tried to tip it in the first time,
couldn't get it third time's a charm and he got hacked. Two shots here at the line for Yerian.
Hillsdale also in the bonus now. Single bonus. Of course, this one has two shots and it makes the
first, but from now on, they'll be shooting one and one on any foul and so will the Oilers.
Al Jassik back in, 60 to 51, 6 to play. Chargers are looking to cut it to 8 with this shot up and good from
Yerian 60 to 52, 6th to play. Chargers come out and the press now. They're trying to get a turnover.
Back to Al Jassik in the half court. Gets a pass to Elmour. He looks to drive, guarded by Janowski.
It's a very soft zone pressure. Almost looking to get a lucky turnover and they come into a three-two defense.
They drop into a zone based off that. Middle of the four. Al Jassik looks to drive.
Blocked away by Yerian. Rebound Jannowski. Back to the other way in Traynison.
Janowski, looking, working on Elmore.
Janowski, tough. Turn around, mid-range, won't go rebound, the area.
Looking to work, ball tipped around. Stolen away by Roth. Chargers had a chance there.
60 to 52. Roth driving blocked by Rooter. He tries to save it and call a timeout.
He just, what happened? I don't know if they're going to give it to him.
Same thing just happened a second ago for the Oilers, but they're not going to give it to the Chargers.
Great defensive effort by Rooter, helpside block. 60 to 52 here.
baseline out of bounds oilers. Chargers needed to convert on that last possession.
Yerian with a great rebound but couldn't go up with it.
Eight point game you got to get it down to five within four minutes.
Elmore working on Woodham's here on the left wing drives. Tough pull up mid-range.
Won't go rebound Yerian. Clear to waiter to Reuter. 60 to 52 with five to play. Beeson on the left wing.
Top of the key, Janowski will set it up with 24 on the shot clock.
Coach Tom, slow it down. You were the better half-court offense. You don't need to force
anything here. Get yourself a great look like you have been all game.
Wadams down low, Yerian wide open. Layup. Good.
And just like that, we've got a six-point game here in Don Timitz Potter Arena and the Oilers.

Crowd is loud here. Your score 60 to 54 and 5 to play.
Now, offensively, nothing has changed for the Chargers.
They have been getting dominant looks all.
day ever since they started beating the press consistently being the press now defensively you're
going to have to press just a little bit you're down six you don't have to foul and if you get within
four it's a ballgame it's a ballgame chargers come out in a press here inbound goes back to el jessick
guarded by ruder chargers drop into a zone out of the press Kyle more on the left wing top of the
key to rock defense chance raining out once again al jessica on the right wing working on genowski down low
Kikout Landers, tough mid-range will go.
Got him on the pump fake and made it.
Your score here, Rueher trying to get it in.
Kahn. Finds Janowski on the runaway.
Janowski with speed, tough take, offensive foul called.
On Janowski got the push off on Johnson.
62, 54th, 430 to play.
And the Chargers do not like the offensive foul call there.
Yeah, I've never seen an offensive foul call
when two guys are running side by side.
That is a first in every single basketball game that I've ever watched.
They normally call that one on the defense when he's riding like that.
They don't hear.
Chargers still in the press.
Four minutes to play.
Down eight.
Need a stop here.
Top of the key.
Roth finds El Jasek, downloaded Johnson.
Balls tipped around.
Back to Roth.
Swing at one more to Landers.
In the corner.
Back up top to Elmore.
Finds Roth.
Ten on the shot clock.
Finley taking their time.
Corner three.
Johnson, open one.
Won't go.
Rebound Woodhams.
finds it, clears it to Ruter.
Here comes Wadham's top of the key.
Three-fifth to play, 62-54.
Gary in on the left wing.
Fines Ruter, wide open.
Good basket.
On the back door cut, 62-56.
And we're back under that magic four-minute mark,
which means what?
You're going to start having to count possessions here.
You know that you only have so many times left with the basketball.
You have to make each one count.
Here we go.
On the right-wing, Roth finds top of Key Elmore.
15 on the shop clock here.
6256.
Rock, driving.
Looks like it could have been a walk.
Isn't tough rebound off of Oilers?
Coming back the other way for the Chargers.
That's going to take us to a media timeout.

You're listening to Radio for Yield's 101.1.7 FM Charger Basketball,
319 to play. Chargers have possession, 6256.
Yeah, I mean, you have possession?
score, you're within four, and in a four-point basketball game, to me, that means anything's possible.
That means all of a sudden there is no need for fouls, there is no need for up-tempo until the last 10 seconds.
There's no need to push anything, and you don't need to press anymore.
Chargers have kept it at bay here with that press into a 3-2 zone.
Close game here, six-point game with 319 to play, and the crowd is so into it right now.
Yeah, probably if you hear the Chargers, you're probably counting on about five possessions here, seven maximum,
them and that's probably including fouls right there yeah and if you're the chargers it all starts
on defense don't allow second chance buckets where they can drain the shot clock and right here on this
inbound do what you've done the entire second half you can't let them beat you by the press if they
beat you by the press the game's over charge your basketball here 62 56 what um's to inbound on the
sideline in this place everyone almost on their feet here an exciting g-mac game yeah i mean this
place is going to be pumping on every single basket on every single foul call anything exciting at
all you're going to hear it chargers barely get it into rudder macallum here brings it up 25 on the
shot black three to play rudder top of the key finds jannowski he's been great in this second half
yerion swings it in the corner mccallum looking to set up that offense finds rudder top of the key
guarded by roth smaller defender looking to go to work drives balls tipped around off him
Ruter trying to go to work on the smaller defender.
He tipped at 56, or sorry, 62, 56, 3 to play.
Charger's to the baseline and bow.
So you have the ball on the baseline?
You're calling a play to try to get somebody wide open layup.
Chargers screening for each other here.
They get it in, McCallum.
He looks to drive.
Tough defense by Landers.
Not much on the shot clock.
Tough fade away, won't go.
Tipped around.
Rebound goes to the Oilers, Max Brand.
Yeah, really unfortunate there.
Yerian tipped it up, trying to get it himself.
but if he wouldn't have touched it, I think it might have fell under the hands of Charles Woodham's.
Top of the key, Roth here, finds Graham.
Swings it over to Johnson on the left wing.
Top of the key, finds Johnson on the left wing again.
Back top of the key, Roth.
Back to Johnson.
They're swinging around all jazz to here.
McCollum on Johnson.
Tough defense.
Johnson has to take a tough step back, mid-range.
Good.
Time out.
Your score, 64, 56 with 222 to play.

Top one here for the Chargers.
Yeah. Chargers is going to need a little bit of a miracle.
The only thing right now working in the Chargers' favor is the fact that they have exactly seven fouls.
Which means that Fendi will need to go make their one-in-ones.
You miss that front-end one-in-one, you don't get a second shot.
And that could be a huge, huge game here for the Chargers.
Baseline out of bounds, goes to Rooter, down eight.
Still pressing are the Oilers.
Trying to make it tough for the Chargers to get it in.
They get it in easily to Woodham's.
Wudham's finds Ruter
He's going to get it past half court here with 25 in the shot clock
Just over two to play
Janowski on the right wing
Chargers need a basket here
To ignite the crowd
Janowski having a hard time
Gets it in down low backing it down
Swings it corner
swings it one more
Woodham's three ball open won't go
Balls tipped around
retained by McCollum
Pull up mid-range
Janowski good
Big basket there by the Chargers, 64-58.
Got to count possessions, got to start pressure in here a little bit.
26 seconds left, or a minute 45 left in the game clock.
64-58.
Big shot by Janowski.
They get it in now, Jasek.
Open lay up blocked off the backboard, and they call a foul.
Looked like Yerian blocked it.
Jassik with a great take, and he's fouled.
64-58 here with a minute 30.
Yeah.
Got to hope he misses a couple of these, or else.
Rogers hopes might be done.
Unfortunately here, shooting foul, so he's going to have both the free throws.
Off ball foul, it'd be a one-in-one.
First one for Aljassic is up and no good.
It is a two-possession game right now, two threes,
or you could go to lay-up route and force them to shoot more free throws,
which they haven't done very well today.
Second one here, big shot for Aljcacac.
Up and good.
Your score, 65, 58.
Just over a minute 30 to play.
Chargers still holding on to those timeouts.
Okay, so now a three possession game, and if you rush the offense,
as much as possible, you're getting about three possessions.
It makes it tough when the press here is constant.
Chargers looking to go.
Rutter will dribble it up here.
Top of the key.
Finds Shinowski.
Got to go here.
Yarian finds Woodhams.
He's looking to drive.
Woodham's on landers.
Tough take to the basket, and he's filed.
He'll get two free throws.
An untimed couple of shots.
shots here from Wottoms to try to cut it to
five. If you're the Chargers here, not only
do you need to play perfect basketball,
not good basketball, perfect basketball,
but you also need Finley to make
a couple mistakes. Finley has been
so good at not making mistakes and also
making big time shots, 6558. That's why
they're rated so highly. Yeah, probably going to come out
in a full man press right here, a minute 26,
forcing Finley to make an error.
First one's up and good for Wettom, 6559.
Steel Meister back out.
for Algesic.
Another two possession game here for the Chargers.
And Philly doesn't have enough the clock just to hold it out.
They have to score here still.
Phil's does not going to foul yet.
Woodham's to the line here for his second one.
Second one is up and good as well.
We're going to get a couple subs here.
65-60 chargers trying to keep it tight here.
Got to play tough defense on the inbound.
Inbound here for Roth, gets it in to Elmore.
Woodham's guarding Roth, and they're going to follow Roth.
here their best free throw shooter will get a couple or one-on-one get a one-on-one so that's a really
really good news for the chargers because this is huge you missed this free throw and it's it's a ball
game because you're in one possession game as long as the charger score he goes one for two here
as well charge mega three it's 65 60 so big time chance here on this shot from max roth
the whole crowd is silent which just to quite make any sense to me the junior
for them. One of their leaders from
Finley, Ohio, the hometown kid.
First one is up and good.
6660 with a minute 19 to play.
This Hillsdale men's basketball team
has fought back all game.
Played really, really poorly in the back half of that
first half, and that might be
what does them in here today.
Second one is up and good as well.
6760 with a minute's wanting.
Gotta go quick here. Woodham gets it
into McCollum.
McCollum driving on Algesic.
It's a tough take and he's fouled.
Two more free ones here.
which is good because it stops the clock.
Yep.
Any out of bounds at this point, too?
Sorry, actually, it's under a minute, I believe.
We'll automatically stop the clock.
So when they're inbounding after you get under a minute,
there's no longer a clock runoff.
And the previous play is under official review.
We're not really sure quite what that review is about.
I don't think they can review the foul there.
I think maybe seeing if it was on the ground or not.
Maybe if it was a flagrant even.
Because he had the hand in the back
and he kind of got to shove off.
So if you get a full extension there,
I believe it is a flag or foul,
which would be huge for the Chargers,
but I don't believe that they'll call that.
And it seems like they had a quick review session
in there pretty much already wrapped it up.
Yeah, that could be huge.
Like we said, those untimed baskets right now
are huge for the Chargers with only about a minute left.
Down seven, but a chance you make a couple here,
trying to cut into that lead, make plays to the best of your ability.
And again, it's tough because you're following a guy like Max Roth
who shoots on a nice.
90%. Yeah, so if you're the Chargers right here, you know, keep the ball out of his hands.
You know they're going to try to get it to him. You know it.
See what the Chargers have. Coach Bradley, rallying the troops here. It's been a great game here at Don Tibbitts Potterina here on a Saturday.
Love to see everyone out and about. It's been exciting. And this timeout right here is probably very fortunate for the Chargers, the review, because that means that Kevin Bradley has chance to draw up a defense.
Tell him, hey, you got him, you got him. And we're going to make sure Roth doesn't get the.
the basketball foul somebody else make somebody else shoot the free throws not their 99% free throw
shooter the chargers elected last time with their press to trap the ball handler they might try to
stick on the inbound guy so there's no easy passes and they might try to get it or follow that
inbounder if it's not raw exactly have someone else shoot them I know they're a good free throw shooting
team overall but roth at 90% makes it tough with the one-in-one still yeah long time out here yeah
it looks like they went back to the table after we thought they were done this could be a
game-changing call with a minute 14 left 6760 don't really know quite what it is i believe that he's
looking at her playing and they're calling in the third referee everyone's taking a peek here
round the troops baby round the troops great job of the refs here taking their time with it because
this is a massive call for both squads i really really would love to know what they're talking about
down there, even what they're reviewing in the first place.
Yeah, because it looked like a clear take foul on the shot, but you can't really call back
the foul because it was pretty obvious.
It was pretty, like, the foul is not getting called back.
You can't review a foul at this point.
So we will see what the call is.
Regardless if it's on the ground, if they are able to change it, they will get free throws.
It just determines if it's a one or one.
Two shots or even maybe a playground.
Yeah, and 6760 right here.
So you're down seven, minute 14.
So in theory, they can hold it for 30 seconds twice, and your offensive possessions are about just kick, you know, seven seconds.
So if you can stop them both offensive possessions, hit both these free throws.
Make some big shots.
We haven't seen a lot of three points shooting from the Chargers besides that barrage early by Logan Beeson, who's been quiet since then.
And Chargers have shooters, though, at the end of the day.
They haven't had opportunities to shoot many because it's been a lot of transition takes.
But see what the final call is here.
Yeah.
Out of all technicality in the math,
Chargers don't have to foul.
We'll see what they elect to do
because you might want to foul
so then you can get more three-point shots.
Yeah, for sure.
And hope they do a great job of re-owning.
Looks like they're going to...
Looks like it's just going to be what the call was here,
two shots from McCallum.
I'm not really sure what the review was.
It looks like it might be, if they were seeing
if it was on the ground,
looked pretty clear that McCollum was up there.
at the rim.
So it is going to be two shots,
just like we kind of expected.
Nothing really changed over here.
Good time for the Chargers to get a breath here.
McCollum's first one is up and good.
67, 61 now, minute 14.
Those three-point shooters, McCollum and Beeston
are also great free-throw shooters usually,
and he knocks this one down in a point where they needed it.
Second one here from McCallum.
Calm, cool, collected, up and good.
Chargers are going to make some defensive subs,
here bringing their best defenders onto the floor 6762 Garibaldi on the ball here in the press
inbound man is max Roth as we mentioned great free throw shooter gets it in here quick back into
Roth stolen oh McCallum almost got it went for the quick steal back you knew they were going to
get it to Roth tipped around only two seconds off the clock 67 62 with a minute 12 that great defensive
effort there by the chargers to see what they're going to do here oh jacic gets it in Roth he drives
Oh, it looks like Bolte might have stole it.
They call it and again, like we mentioned,
you don't want to send Roth to the line and they're going to.
Yeah, unfortunate there.
It looked pretty clean, but maybe just enough
if the refs didn't want to question it.
Yeah, Boltee got his hand in there.
They did a great job denying the amount.
Had a hard time where they couldn't get it in,
and then they did.
Boltie almost stole it away.
Ball would have been loose on the floor.
Instead, Roth going to the line here.
Two shots in the double bonus.
First one is up and good.
68 62. Chargers running out of life here with minute 08.
And this second shot's huge. You make this, you need to foul. You don't make this, play a defense.
You make a three. It's a three-point game. Big shot. Roth is up and good again. 69, 62.
Chargers down once again, 7 minute 08 here.
Now, Chargers, two timeouts. Finlay noiler is only one.
Chargers have to go here. Janowski brings it up.
Janowski going to work on Johnson.
trying to find something. Spins back.
Tough take. Blocked away there by Landers.
58 seconds now.
Janowski with a tough drive.
Baseline out of bounds here for the Chargers.
Janowski will take it out here.
I love two-point shots, but I believe here that you really do need a three.
Wide open, fine. Rooters, dunks at home.
Time-out Chargers.
Big dunk there by Rooter.
69, 64.
It's going to take us to a timeout here.

Riddiff, Ralesdale, 101.7 FM Charger basketball, 69, 64, 57.
0.5 seconds on the clock.
Oilers are in the double bonus, so any foul will be two free throws.
And me and Evan, we're just talking about it, those two technical free throws could come back to hurt them.
Yeah, down five points.
If they get this ball inbound and you need to foul.
It's the truth of the matter.
Defense getting loud, finds it in the corner to Mackay Elmore.
He's going to get fouled a different free throw shooter here.
Then Roth, who's been pretty money at the line.
Let's see if Mackay, who has been a great shooter all day for them, can knock a couple down.
Only had nine attempts on the season, seven for nine.
So he's shooting about 78% of that's really small.
Small sample size.
This is a big moment here.
See if he can knock a couple in for the Oilers.
First one is up and good.
Again, the Oilers making those free throw.
70-64.
He misses this one here.
Chargers get a three point shot.
No more fouls needed.
No more fouls are needed.
Swan is up and no good rebound.
Yerian tipped around and a foul.
Untimed basket opportunity for the Chargers.
That's huge.
I mean, you saved at least 10, 15 seconds on the drive down to offense.
Big shots here from Yerian, 70, 64.
He's going to get two of them now that are in the double bonus.
Yeah, Yerian, a 500 three-throw shooter on the dot.
Only 14 free throw shots, but these ones, more important.
Some guys are better in the light and some guys are worse.
We'll see how CJ Yerian shoots right here.
Two for two earlier, if you can recall from Yerian.
Going to get a shot here.
70, 64, 54 seconds.
And also, Will Al Jansick, five fouls.
Has to check out of the game.
Wow, that is huge.
Yerian's first one's up and no good.
Tough miss for the charger.
70, 64, got to make this one to make it a five-point game.
defensive subs are going to check in here for the Chargers.
Can Yerian knock this one through?
Yeah, they got Garibaldi waiting to sub in for C.J. Yerian because if he makes it,
you want Bolte on the press, but if he misses, you want Yerian to try to grab the rebound.
Yerian's second one is up and good. Banks it in.
Don't see that often.
Malti able to check in, and the Chargers is able to set their press.
70, 65 now with 54.7 to play.
Yeah, he was being able to set up this press and do whatever they want.
want with it.
Chargers
tipped on the inbound and it's going to be
they're talking about it.
It's going to stay with Finley.
Look like it might have been off them and you'd have to imagine
they review this. Yeah, I feel like you have to review
this and there they go. They go in the both.
Charger fans think it might be their ball
which would be absolutely ginormous.
Great job by Garrett Boltey.
Tipped to the pass.
Might have went off Finley. It's going to be
tough review here. 70, 65,
54 seconds and I feel like no time
coming off the clock.
Huge for the charger.
We've been at 59 seconds for about seven plays.
And we're going to go to a short media timeout.

Let's see what they call.
No, it's going to stay with the Oilers.
Tough call, Charger Faith, we don't like it.
But great job by Garrett Boltey on the ball, play tough defense.
They're going to opt to put Yerian on the ball.
Sideline out of bounds here for Max Roth.
Their veteran point guard, try to see if you can find somebody here.
And you're calling forward.
converts right here got the offense lined up in like a football play ball out of bounds on the
sideline we're going to see what they're going to try to do here ideas set up in a five wide
set like mc mentioned see what they can do to get it in here have a hard time finding in they find
johnson great defense by mccallum they get it into roth who you don't want with the ball
and now they're wide open for the basket tough defense by bison won't go rebound brand and they can pull
it out and they're going to foul on brand had a huge chance to make a bucket there from steel mice
He missed. They got the offense
rebound with numbers and now you have a different
guy shooting free throws. I know. I can't believe Stel
Meister went for that shot. I mean, you have
possession, you're up five points.
There's 42 seconds left. There's nobody on you.
Dribble the ball. They did a great job of breaking
the charger press, had a wide open lane
and he decided to take it. First one is up
and good there from Brandt.
71, 65. Took a lot of time
off the clock, though, 43 seconds.
So you need a miss here once again
for the chargers. See if they can
grab this rebound and you'd hope for a quick
foul maybe more untimed baskets second one is up and good chargers now down 7265
press is still on for the oilers got to go quick here they get it into gennowski he's looking
to press here he drives to the cup tough look open layup won't go tipped up won't get it rebound
knocked around a whole bunch and it's going to go to the oilers
that's going to just about do it.
And then they had a dunk.
I'm pretty sure you can't do that.
A dunk after there by the Oilers running down the floor.
Ruffs had already turned around.
It looked like could have been something there for the Chargers.
It's not going to be two shots for Max Roth now.
It's all but over here.
Yeah.
Unfortunate way for the Chargers to go out.
But if I'm being honest, I felt like the Chargers,
they had a worst first half.
100%.
Finley was a better team in the second half.
But once they figured out how to beat that press,
I felt like the charges were the better team.
And in basketball, you play a team twice.
And that's the thing.
They're going to be at Finley next time.
I'm sure there'll be a great crowd.
But the story of the second half is Landers' ability to make three balls.
Went three for three.
Roth makes him both 74, 65, 27 seconds.
Finley finally give up on that press.
McCollum, driving, looking, Router, top of the key,
driving on Steel Meister.
He's got to take a fade away three ball.
He'll make it.
It's good, and you're back in.
Six points somehow.
Six point game.
It's going to take us to do a timeout from the Chargers.

18 seconds to go.
7468 after the Router 3 ball.
Yeah, down six points.
I mean, it looks, it looks pretty bleak.
It looks pretty bleak.
You're going to need a miracle.
You're going to get two three-point baskets
without Finley even having the basketball
or missing both.
their free throws both times.
Very unfortunate.
You got no timeouts left.
This is it.
You are full out man pressure.
You have to get a tip.
You have to get a foul as quick as you can if they get it in.
And for the Chargers, they have fought hard,
and the lead has just never been able to be back in their favor since the start
of this game.
Yeah, just unfortunate,
Finley able to get them on that press really, really early, and that's what they
dominated them.
But I would love to see this game next time.
I think the Chargers can really dominate when they thought.
on how to beat that press.
Yeah, exactly.
The Chargers went down early, about eight points,
and they haven't really been down more than that
or haven't been able to cut the lead for much more than that,
and that was the story when that press was on.
And then four verticals again here.
Look for Finley.
Trying to get it in here.
Johnson can't find anything.
It's going to get a time out.
Close one there.
Almost a five-second violation.
Great defense by the Chargers,
and now they can't run the baseline.
Yeah.
Stuck in place.
but you have another chance to run four verticals here.
As you're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale,
1-1.1.7 FM, we're going to go to a short period timeout.

The benefits of playing multiple sports from the youth level through high school
are being proven even by those who've made it to the so-called next level.
More college coaches want multi-sport athletes
and nearly 90% of the players taken in the recent pro football draft
played multiple sports through high school.

Back, you're listening to Radio Free Hillsville 101.7 FM Charger Basketball, 17.6 seconds on the clock.
Baseline on a balance, Chargers did a great job of denying the inbound last time we were in this spot before the timeout, and Philly had to burn one.
Yeah.
During that time where the one minute takes 10 minutes because of how many timeouts are called.
Both teams now completely out of timeouts.
Any made baskets is the only going to be the only stop.
It's made baskets and fouls, but no more timeouts left for either team.
We had mentioned that he wouldn't be able to run the baseline.
He actually is able to, even though it was off a timeout instead of a made basket.
You see what he's got here.
Running the baseline, try to find it.
They get it inbound to Johnson.
McCollum follows him quick.
The speedster Johnson's going to go in the line for two here.
Yeah, and if he makes either one of these, I believe that that will be the game.
It'll be over.
not that it, you know, it looks pretty bad for the Chargers now.
But if you miss both of them, they do have a chance.
But when you make one, if they get it down the court fast enough to make a three,
it's only a three-point game.
And if he misses one of these here, it could be in his psyche to make it,
miss another one.
Big shots here from Johnson, veteran guard.
Yeah, the crowd kind of quiet, a little bit disappointed.
Oh, there we go.
There we get loud.
First one is up and good, though.
Johnson, ice cold makes it.
What a shot there.
they needed it to keep this game out of reach.
And the Chargers were inches away today.
They were inches today on an out of bounds pass.
They were inches away on a couple of plays,
and that really made the difference.
This game, although it ended nine points away,
it was five points away with two minutes left to go,
and the Chargers had possession.
And it's been quarter of an inch difference.
Chargers have had a great fight here,
but just not able to find anything.
Janowski will shoot the three,
won't go, rebound Grant, McCollum will follow.
More of a formality there.
He's hobbling after a great effort on the rebound.
But 7668 was six seconds to play.
Two shots here from Grant.
Crowd starts to clear out, a little disappointed, but I don't think they need to be.
Yeah.
I think it was a great effort by the Chargers.
And although Finley played a great first half,
and that was really where they made their lead,
he'll still prove that they can play with this team.
Yeah, this is not only is this one of the top teams in the GMAC,
this is one of the top teams in the nation.
So they will see them again.
I would imagine they would see them twice more,
probably in the GMAC tournament, maybe even in the playoffs.
So this is a matchup that we will see throughout the season going forward,
still early in this year.
But I tell you what, the Chargers fought hard.
As Beeson makes a three there late to make it, 76, 71.
Thank you guys for tuning in.
