Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome to Charger Basketball. Man is Charger Basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM as we get ready for this tip. C.J. Yarian for the Chargers is out for the tip and hitting in his 610 sophomore frame going up against number 12, Edwards Jones Jr. And we are off as Hillsdale has won the tip. Tip back to San Luisu.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Ooh, we'll pass it to Jakowski. Janowski. Janowski. Janowski. Janowski. He got. Mowski with the dribble, dribble handoffs from the chargers. Then the ball in to the Sioux.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Back out. And back out to the Sioux, again. The Sioux dribble in, kicking it out. Almost a good steal by Kentucky Wesleyan, but he was able to get out of there, able to find an open. Four seconds left on a shot clock. Jukowski breaks a man.
Starting point is 00:00:52 It makes a great shot. Had the guy from Kentucky Wesleyan on the floor. Killer move from Tynowski, broke his ankle. and then buried the mid-range jumper. Yes. Kennedy and Miles will take the ball up the floor for Kentucky Wesleyan. Ball out in the corner to Alex Gray. Out to Edwards Jones Jr. Trying to working inside to Fernandez.
Starting point is 00:01:16 He's got it now. Fernandez big under the basket. He's going to miss that layup. But he is the highest point score, even though he's only one for 21. For free throws under the season, as CJ Yerrein takes the transition. layup. Great pass from Janowski to find an open man running towards a basket. Quick bucket for the chargers. A big bucket for the chargers. Chargers up 4-0 with 18 minutes and 44 seconds left in the first half. Because a men's basketball, they play halves and not quarters. For Kentucky Wesleyan,
Starting point is 00:01:47 ball to number two, Kennedy Miles. On the corner, Edwards Jones Jr. and Jones Jr. misses the shop or rebound Alex Gray for Kentucky Wesleyan. Woodhams. Trying to play some tight defense. Force a bad shot. Great defense from Woodham's, and he grabs the rebound. Chargers are off and running. I think he actually got a hand on that one. Him or CJ Yerian with the double team a little bit. His Yerian looks to back down, number 32.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Yerian with the layup. Great job of using his size right there. Excellent move there from Yerian. I'm sure Fernandez thinks he has the advantage. He's a little bit thicker, but Yerian did not back down and got the tough bucket. Yeah, a ball, too. Alex Gray in the top of the key is the suit tips out the pass from Fernandez and he's going to stay with Kentucky Wesleyan with some great defense here early from the Chargers absolutely much better start than the other night through this team against Walsh really struggled to get going Chargers jumping out to an early 6-0 lead yeah really looked the other way around for the Chargers last week exactly last game
Starting point is 00:02:51 as Miles dribbling around throwing up a bad pass and Router's going to grab it pass up to Janowski who's going to Miss and then Ruter grabs the rebound and makes the layup as Kentucky Wesleyans already forced to call a timeout. Hillsdale's leaving 8 to 0 in the beginning of this first quarter. You listen to 101.1.7 FM ready for Hillsdows. We're going to go to a short media break. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Hillsdale men's basketballs are currently at 8 to 0 in Kentucky Wesleyan early in this first half. Kentucky Wesleyan currently has the possession. Hernandez is the big man trying to take on Hillsdale's Big Ben, 6-10 C.J. Yarian Passed it out to Miles.
Starting point is 00:04:21 He passes out to Gray who's going to miss the three-point shot. Rebound Hillsdale. Janowski with the dribble, kicking it out to the Sioux, back out to Janowski as they set up the offense. Ball in the hands of Joe Ruder, the former freshman of the year in the GMAC, as the Sue is going to make a reverse play-up. Beautiful move from Vasu to get inside
Starting point is 00:04:44 and finish with his right hand on the left side. Yeah, very impressive. backwards layup right there by the Sioux opens up to a 10 to zero lead for 16 minutes and 42 seconds left in the first half intensity and energy looks much better for the chargers than they did earlier this week against walsh as the ball struggled with alex gray almost lost it out to kennedy miles he's going to shoot a deep two and he's going to miss rebound joe ruders he's going to set up the offense for hillsdale Ruter trying to get Router off the screen there. He's not open.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yerian with a three-pointer, but he's going to miss. He is not shoot very often. Not a shot he takes very often. But every once in a while, you know, if it's open, it's open. But unfortunately, Edwards-Jones Jr. is going to open up the scoring for Kentucky Wesleyan on a fade-away jumper. It's kind of a tough shot. It was a tough shot.
Starting point is 00:05:39 But he does make it nonetheless, probably 10 to 2 for the charges. Ball in the basket, Dan Basu makes another layup. That time a little bit contested. But Kentucky Wesleyan, I think, was trying not to get a foul there as he knew he was on the side of the Sioux. Nice move to draw the foul, so he didn't jump up with him.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Got him with a little pump fake, opened it up, and then nailed it off the glass. As Fernandez is going to get going. A high score for Kentucky Wesleyan, player under the pain is going to finally open up the scoring for himself against T.J. Yarian, this tall center. Serend Yerian, from the past, Get a pass down to Joe Ruter.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Ruter's going to make the layup. Excellent. Excellent entry pass from the area in there to find Router under the basket. Tight coverage and Router finishes. Yeah, that was a great, great pass. 421 Kvion Mitchell is well on top of the key. They try to make a pass, and it's tipped. Rest will say his last touch by Kennedy Miles,
Starting point is 00:06:40 so it'll be Hillsdale men's basketball. It's going to go to short meeting timeout. You're listening to 101.1.7 FM, Radio Free Hills. On Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Hillsdale can feel small, but with the virtual voyage, you don't have to leave the comforts of home

Radio Free Hillsdale has...
Starting point is 00:07:53 You don't need to search so hard for Hillsdale's late. Welcome to Hillsdale, Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Hillsdale Men's basketball is Cole McQuarrney number 11, Mikey McCollum, number 21, and Caleb Glazer, number one, are all going to check in for the Chargers. They are currently up 14 to 4 against Kentucky Wesleyan. Wesleyan looks like they're trying to ramp up the defensive pressure as they fall back into a 3-2 zone.
Starting point is 00:08:29 3-2 zone. One guy had to cross-hap. is McCollum is going to shoot the three and make it. McCollum. Great game against Walsh. Now great start against Kentucky Wesleyan. Yeah, they're going to try to shoot him out of that zone. If Hillsdale keep shooting like that, I don't think they're going to sit in the zone too long.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Yeah. Currently with the ball for Kentucky Wesleyan number two. Kennedy Miles is he dribbles in. He's going to draw the foul on the shot. Fowls the number 33, Joe Ruder. One of Hillsdale's. Best defenders and biggest rebounds and best scorers. Great all-round player.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Yeah, he does a little bit of everything for the Chargers, doesn't it? He does. Didn't shoot super well against Walsh last week and really looked to improve that behind the three-point art as Miles is going to make his first free throw. Yeah, but like we said, I don't think anybody had a great game against Walsh. Much better start here today. With the exception of McCollum,
Starting point is 00:09:23 McCollum, probably his best game of the year. He's going to make the second free throw, making it 17 to 6 Hillsdale lead with 14 minutes and 53. 23 seconds in the first quarter. As Wesleyan continues to sit in that defense, a little bit of rotation going on in that defense. It now looks like a 2-1-2 defense, falling back into a two-three. Yeah, a little bit of a match-up zone.
Starting point is 00:09:46 As Woodhams is going to shoot another three here against the zone, but he's going to miss. He was able to get great open three-point looks against the zone, which is a good sign. As Ruder is going to be matched up on number 30, Alexa Radick. A rocket. Batchez out to Miles.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Miles takes a long free and misses and Joe Ruder grabs the rebound. Ruter up to Mikey McCollum is going to shoot another three. The freshman is on fire today. Already two for two from three point range. Like we said, they're going to sit in that zone. You're going to give Mikey McCollum those chances. He's going to take that every time. He's got the hot hand for the chargers.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Yes, number 33. Logan McIntyre checked into the game for the Kentucky Wesleyan. he's going to have the ball right now pass out to Borja Fernandez he's trying to take on the freshman keel of Glazer Glazer with some great defense and makes a difficult layup for Borja Fernandez which he misses excellent job by Glazer there yeah the freshman playing on one of the best talents in the GMAC at the big man position as Woodham's is going to shoot another three-pointer but he's going to miss again scores turnily still 20 to 6 he'll still leave with 12 minutes and 54 seconds left in this first have passed down to Rizikovic but a great interception backhand by Joe Ruder
Starting point is 00:11:10 Joe Ruder with great help defense right there able to intercept that pass as one of us is going to miss the layup but offensive rebound Hillstale pass out for three point Col McQueenie gonna roll around the basket and fall out field Glazer got a hand on it but it's unfortunately gonna fall out of bounds and go to Kentucky Wesleyan yep looks like the Seuss checked back into the game for the Chargers. Charles Woodham's going to sit down. Yeah, got to give him a little bit of rest. One good thing about this Hillsdale team is that they play 10-man every game.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Every game they've played about 10 players, which is a big difference between them and Kentucky-Issalon. He only has a seven-man deep bench. That's number 33 for Kentucky Wesleyan. Logan McIntyre is going to make a three-point basket. I'd have to lead down to 11 for Hillsdale. Chargers slowing things down on offense. You have a Sioux.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Out to McCollum, Cullen with the hot hand. Out to Glazer, who's going to think he's going to get the foul, but it's not. It's just going to be a clean block. It's going to go out of bounds for the Chargers. As Eric Radicevich, he's going to check into the game for the Chargers for Keoglazer. Big man, 6'9. We'll see if they can take advantage of that inside. Yeah, and he's no skinny 6'9.
Starting point is 00:12:31 He's a big 6-foot-9, big strong guy, really big size advantage right there for the Chargers. Ruter is going to hit a three-pointer. His first of the game to get him going. Great shot there by Joe Ruder. Beautiful shot in rhythm. That's what you want to see if you're a Charger. Hillsdale Charger fan.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Yeah, Ruter. Once again, one of the best all-around players for Hillsdale. There's going to be a five-second violation on Kentucky Wesleyan. As Ashton Jukowski checks into the game, we're going to go to a immediate timeout and listen to 101.1.1.7 FM, Radio Free Hillsdale. We'll talk about the past of America's favorite pastime. I'm Tate Christensen. Today we talk about the first night game played in the MLB.
Starting point is 00:13:17 In 1935, the Cincinnati Reds were a struggling team. They could hardly draw a crowd, averaging about 2,000 fans per game. The idea was presented to bring lights to Cincinnati's Crawley Field in attempt to bring more fans to the game. They thought that bringing in these lights would help the games to be played in the evening or at night so that people could come when they were off work. On May 24, 1935, a crowd of 20,422 fans gathered to watch the game between the Reds and the Phillies. From Washington, D.C., Franklin D. Roosevelt flipped the ceremonial switch and lights turned on in Cincinnati, and the game was played.
Starting point is 00:13:50 The Reds beat the Phillies 2 to 1 that night, and later in 1935, seven more night games were held in Cincinnati. Night games were later expanded to other teams in other cities. This has been the old ballgame on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Hillsdale men's basketball versus Kentucky Wesleyans' men's basketball. Hillsdale out to an early lead, 23 to 9. Really looks very flipped from their game against Walsh just last Thursday. But they came out to an early deficit. Hillsdale, a great second half team.
Starting point is 00:14:36 So Kentucky Wesleyan used to make moves now. Yeah, the charges have looked sharp offensively and defensively, as they have possessed the ball here. Joe Ruder with the basketball. on the top of the three-point line up to Ritzikovic who's going to shoot a three-pointer. Big man three-pointer. Big man three is nice. Great shot right there.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Hi, Rizikovic. Usually not a guy who shoots a lot of three-pointers, but when it's wide open, sometimes you just got to take the shot. Absolutely. As Wesleyan going to pass the ball in, they're taking some dangerous passes, but they've gotten nothing going as of yet. As number two, Kennedy Miles is going to make a great move to the basket and finish the layup. strong move by Miles and a soft finish.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Janowski brings the ball up for the Chargers. Yeah, Janowski. Up to Ritsikovik, out to McCollum. Under the basket to Vesu. Vesu's going to shoot a little fade away, but he is going to miss. Very short of the basket. It looked like he didn't really have quite control of the ball then.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Yeah, I think he lost it on the way up. Miles going to pass it out. dribble down and then pass it. Alexa Radich. Rockets. Rockets. Rockets. There you go.
Starting point is 00:15:44 Reckich. Nice pass. pass under the basket for the Panthers now cut the lead to 13 it's 2613 yeah as rizikovic he's gonna jump and make a jump pass down to joe rudder go we're out to mickey mccolm mccolm trying to take a dribble hout to rizikovic with seven seconds left on the shot clock it's like if it makes a move and it's going to roll out of the basket it was a good shot unfortunately just going to roll out i like that take for mizikovic yeah i do too i think he's got a size of down there. Number 21, Kvionn Mitchell
Starting point is 00:16:20 going to miss the shot for Kentucky Wesleyan. An uncontested three, which is not good for the Chargers, but fortunately, he does miss. Ball to Joe Rutter on the wing right now. There's going to be a foul away from the ball. I think that was on a moving screen. Yeah, they got Ashton Janowski for a moving screen. It's going to be going the other way. Panthers basketball.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yeah, not something. that you see very often an off ball screen being called. Yep. It's number 24. Garrett Boltee checks in for the Chargers. Yeah, Kennedy Mitchell with the ball for Kentucky Buzzleon.
Starting point is 00:17:07 The Panthers. Dibling it around, trying to make something happen. House number 33, Logan, Mickettire, and he's able to make a three-point basket. Cutting the lead down to. 10 points for this charger team once again. Ball up to Bolsey on the top of the three point line.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Up to C.J. Yarian. Very young lineup in there right now. You got three sophomores. Yerian shoots a three-pointer and he makes it. Another big man three-pointer. Big man three. Hillsdale is hot from three-point to start this game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Two big man three-pointers, one by Ritzik and one by Yerian. They've gotten hot from outside the art very early. Ball in the paints number 30. Rockets. Rockets trying to make something happen against Big Yarian. Yarian, great defense. Maybe jumped a little bit early on that pump fake, but he was able to get the stop nonetheless.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Now Yerian, taking the ball down the back on the court quickly. But passes it out to set up the offense. Williams with the ball right now. Up to Janowski again. Nowski dribbles it in, kicks it out to San Vasu. Pesu, taking it in once again, trying to make a move, trying to make something happen. 10 seconds left in the show.
Starting point is 00:18:22 shot clock for garret bolted with the ball samus two with a three-pointer shot he's going to miss Kentucky Wesleyan is going to grab the rebound with Rockets long possession there just couldn't find a shot for the chargers Kennedy Miles
Starting point is 00:18:36 with the ball Miles gives it to Jones Jr back to Miles now trying to make something happen against Samisou Miles with a fadeaway jump shot and it's going to rim out it's going to be tipped around a little bit and rebound Kentucky Wesleyan
Starting point is 00:18:51 Hillstall scrambling to play defense. Long three-pointed by number 21. Kvion Mitchell and he's going to miss. Fortunate for the Chargers there that he missed. That was an open look. Boltee drive in and draws the blocking foul, able to get there before the Devender and draw the foul. Very physical play there from Bolte.
Starting point is 00:19:13 That foul is the number 12. Sorry, fouls on number two, Kennedy Miles. They're going to go to a short media timeout. You're listening to Radio Freehillsill. 1.1.1.7.com. Welcome to the Astro Minute, where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds at a time. I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're going giant hunting. What's the second brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere? If you guessed Arcturus, you're right. Recognized by its brightness and reddish color and popularized by books like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Arcturis is a red giant, measuring 25 suns across, and emitting 250,000.
Starting point is 00:19:50 15 times the sun's energy. It's an old star and will eventually become a planetary nebula. It's about 37 light years from Earth, which means the light we see from it today left Arcturus 37 years ago. Interestingly, the light from Arcturis was used to switch on the opening lights at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. If you follow the arc of the handle of the big dipper across the sky, you'll land on this magnificent red giant.
Starting point is 00:20:18 That's your Astro Minute. 7 FM. Listen to Hilstill men's basketball. There's going to be a foul on number one from Kentucky Wesley and Alex Gray. Yeah, Joe Router for the Chargers draws the foul, not shooting, so they'll be inbounding from under the basket. Yeah, Cole McQuinnney, going to be inbounding the ball here. Passes it out to Charles Woodham's, Woodham's, up to Ruder, Router, back out to McQuinnie,
Starting point is 00:21:28 moving it all the way around the arc, back up to Wicney. Woodham's Wudham's thought he had a shot but does not take it seven seconds left in the shot clock as Woodham has the ball
Starting point is 00:21:39 four seconds left on the shot clock as Rooder takes a deep three and misses maybe not the best shot for Router but as the shot clock was winding down he didn't think
Starting point is 00:21:47 that he would find a better one then yeah not much of an option all in the hands of Fernandez Fernandez the big man tries to make a pass under the basket but it is tipped by Hillsdale
Starting point is 00:21:59 and then rolls out of bounds Good tight defense there for the Chargers. They're not letting those passes get through. Yeah, and some great help defense there by Joe Ruder. Fall in the hands of Fernandez. Taking on the big man, the 6-10 C.J. Arian. Marian with some great defense. And then making things tough for Fernandez right now.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Yeah, they're helping on him when he gets really, really close to that basket. Woodham drives down. It's inside. Misses the shot. Unable to grab his own rebound. Narian tries to get a hand in there, but unfortunately, Kentucky Wesleyan is able to get it, and they're going to call a blocking foul on Cole McQuinney. Yeah, a tough one there for McWilley's feet weren't set.
Starting point is 00:22:41 It looked like the contact was initiated by the offensive player, but you know how that goes? If your feet is not set on defense, they're going to call that on you 10 times out of 10. Game getting a little bit aggressive here, though. Absolutely. A little bit chippy. Last six minutes of this first quarter, as Heldon leads 29 to 16 against Kentucky Wesleyan. Ball back in the hands of Fernandez.
Starting point is 00:23:03 Fernandez handoff to Mitchell or to Miles. Miles. Pass out to Cavyon Mitchell. Mitchell makes the basket. Nice little floater inside. Big score for the Panthers. Yeah, pass out. Joe Ruder for three points again.
Starting point is 00:23:21 And he makes it. Great shot there by Ruder. Ruder is back in this three-pointing groove. Yeah, a great look there for Ruter. That one looks good as soon as it left his hand. A ball in the hands of Fernandez, hand off to Miles. Miles trying to make him space for himself. Shot by number 21, Kavion Mitchell, and he makes the three-point.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Yeah, Wesleyan answers with a three of their own is the Chargers bring it up. Yeah, score 32 to 21. He'll still charges with a five minutes and 44 seconds left in this first half. Ball in the hands of Joe Ruter. Out to Cole McQuinnie. drives reverse layup and a great shot left-handed shot against great shot by cole mcclney yeah absolutely beautiful high arcing shot that he spun in off the bass or off the backboard
Starting point is 00:24:12 miles great move to get past both men and then joe ruder tries to step away help defense and passes off fernandez for the easy layup yeah trading baskets here oh on a great steal Kentucky Wesleyans Logan Mickintyre as he gets an easy basket. Unfortunate mistake there by the freshman Mikey McCollum. So I'm just looking to settle down here a little bit after the turnover. Yeah, ball in the hands of Joe Ruter. About 10 feet away from the basket, dribbling in, trying to make something happen. He's able to draw a foul on the shot.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Yeah, a very strong move by Ruder there. You could see he was determined to get to the basket, and they were going to have to foul him if they wanted to. stop him. Yeah, he knew. He had already made a decision as soon as he got the ball in the sands. Absolutely. Exactly what he was going to do. Definitely had a mismatch there with the guard gray trying to cover him in the low post. It'll be two shots for Router. Yeah, I feel like that's one of the questions you have to answer if you're a team playing against this Hillsdale team. Who matches up on Joe Ruter? Yeah, he's, you know, he's probably a little bit too athletic for a big man,
Starting point is 00:25:23 but he's so strong, it's hard to put a guard on him because he'll take him inside and try to bully him. Exactly. So a little bit of a size advantage and a little bit of a speed advantage, like a tight end type player. Like you say, a mismatch nightmare for opposing teams. As Rivers able to make both free throws there, taking a ball off the floor for Kentucky Wesleyan. Miles once again, Miles able to drill past his defender and take a great layup right there. Beautiful move by Miles to adjust his shot mid-air and finish. Jannowski taking her ball up. past the freshman keel of glazer
Starting point is 00:25:59 blazer out to ruder ruder to jannowski jennowsky jennowsky with a dribble and jump shot and he's going to miss rim out had a great look but just couldn't get it to go down yeah very calm shot there by
Starting point is 00:26:13 Janowski a great shot a difficult shot by number 33 Logan mickentire is he's going to miss the three-pointer he thought he was hot he had a couple of shots earlier that he was able to make but unfortunately that one too difficult for him There's going to be a foul call off the ball. Yep, another blocking foul off the ball this time on number one, Caleb Glazer.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Call them for a moving screen. We're trying to get rude or the ball in the wing. As we're going to, Hillsdale leads 37 and 27 with four minutes left in the first quarter. We're going to go to a short media timeout. You're listening to Radio Free Hilsdale, 1.1.7 FM. Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM for Hillsdale Men's Basketball versus Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball. Hillsdale currently leads 36 to 27, with four minutes left in the first quarter. first half that is in the first half excuse me of men's basketball two used to do in the women's game yeah just did that right before this Fernandez with the ball taking on freshman keel glazer Fernandez trying to make a big man move and he does able to finish with a strong layup right
Starting point is 00:28:33 there Fernandez may have got an extra step on that one but nonetheless is able to take advantage of the size their size discrepancy Sam bassoot making a great spin move and draws the foul against number 21 Cadavion Mitchell Mitchell's first foul I believe Team fourth foul Fowle My apologies We'll be shooting too
Starting point is 00:28:59 There you go Getting ahead of you Sorry it is my first time Hey it's your second time now Your experience That is true Experience set around As Hussu is able to make
Starting point is 00:29:09 The first free throw See we have to talk about Anything else though right now Other than the game Because we did have a little bit of an announcer's jinks in the women's game We got a number of announcers, James. A couple of them.
Starting point is 00:29:19 As soon, he was able to make the second free throw. Just start talking about maybe some NFL playoff predictions. Yeah. A little bit more comfortable in that arena. Exactly. As Miles takes the ball on the floor for Wesley and getting the ball in the hands of Fernandez. They know where the mismatch is a little bit.
Starting point is 00:29:34 It was also trying to help a little bit too much. And Logan McIntyre, wide open three-pointers is able to knock it down. Beautiful cross-court pass from Fernandez to set up that shot. Hard to defend. 38 to 32 he'll still lead with three minutes left in the first half Samis Sue with a wide open three-point and he hits it I don't think he meant to bank that one in but he did he'll take it nonetheless three points is three points it's not backyard football you don't have to call the bank as Fernandez once again trying to
Starting point is 00:30:07 use the size advantage hillsdale playing a little bit helped defense Samis Sue but loses his man Miles and Joe Ruter draws a foul trying to help on miles. Yeah, it looks like they're going to get rude or just barely hit his arm there as he was going up. They're really trying to take advantage of the size advantage that Rizikovic has on Glazer. Fernandez, that is. Fernandez has on Glazer. Not just to get him shots, but to get the rest of the team open looks.
Starting point is 00:30:37 Absolutely. And as you say that, Eric Radicevich checks in for the chargers. I guess, yeah, they're tired of getting pushed around on the block. they're going to bring in the big man to combat that. Yeah. This is the first, makes the first free throw, but misses the second. Redisovich.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Redisovich. Pass up to Sam the Sioux. Out to Woodham. It's kind of a dangerous pass, but Woodham's able to corral it. And then dribble in is tipped and goes out of bounds. Last touch by Hillsdale. Yeah, off off a Hillsdale player there.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Leslie brings it up to court. Miles. the ball in hands. He's going to set up a screen for Fernandez. Fernandez, the mismatch on Ruder. Fernandez. Some great defense by Ruter. And a steal by Sam the Sue, a kind of errant pass from Fernandez
Starting point is 00:31:30 because he had a man wide open in the corner. Blocking foul as Woodhams goes up with the basket. He's going to miss, but he's going to draw the blocking foul. He's going to be shooting two shots here. Yep, great defense by the Chargers leads to the turnover. and the quick transition points, and then the foul, and now Woodhams will be shooting too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Hillsdale currently leads Kentucky wisely in 41 to 33. On that last defensive possession, though, Hillsdale had a lot of confusing switchoffs. They had a couple guys step up. Two guys on Fernandez, but thankfully their pressure on Fernandez was able to, as they were trying to get Fernandez to box. out Radisovich because they don't want that size advantage to come in too calm. Those two trying to neutralize each other down there on the block.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Yeah, but Hill still able to play great defense on that last possession to get a steal. Williams makes both of his free throws and extends Hillsdale's lead back to 10 points. 43 to 33 Hillsdale with two minutes left in the first half as Miles passes it out to Mickentire. and they're going to call a foul on the ground against Woodham's for the grab. McIntyre able to get him with a little bit of a hesitation move there. He's hit a couple of three-pointers in this game and caught Woodham's reaching as he tried to drive by.
Starting point is 00:32:58 Inbound pass out to Fernandez, as all of them have been so far. Hands on the ball in McIntyre now. Out to Miles. Missou's able to get a hand on it, but not enough. Miles to Gray. Ray trying to take on Joe Ruter. Ray fade away shot and he misses.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Punched out by Kentucky Wesleyan player. And the rebound is grabbed. Shot by Mickentire and he makes a really deep three. Absolute dagger for Mekintyre. He is hot from three-point land right now. Yeah, he is. After missing a couple shots early, he is finally started to find his groove. The Sioux with the ball on the top of the three-point line.
Starting point is 00:33:39 Taking on Miles. After Radicevich. Abisovic to Ruder. Ruder to Vesu. Bissu, making something happen. Seven seconds left from the shot clock. Ruter three-pointer. Misses.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Hillsdale rebound, though, by Wudham's. Wendums, down to Radisovich. Radisovic. Fines Router under the basket. Misses, but grabs the rebound. I think the foul is on the shot against Joe Ruder, so I believe that he's going to be shooting two. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:34:10 It's against the... Sam the Sue. The rebound and reshot by Sam the Sue. So if a Sue is going to be shooting two free throws here. Sue, unfortunately, misses the first, just short. As Hillsdale currently leads Kentucky Wesleyan, 43 to 36, with 56.5 seconds left in this first half of play. And he makes the second one.
Starting point is 00:34:36 So 56 seconds left on the clock, obviously a 30-second game clock, so maybe one possession each for each team or two possessions, depending on how Kentucky Byzantine's plays just right here. here and miles drives it in is able to score a strong move from miles there hillsdale taking their time bringing this ball up the court they're waiting to make sure there's this little game clock left as possible for conduct you wesley and now coach collins saying we don't need to waste the game clock they're going to have time anyways don't waste too much clock as actually they are going to pass around a little bit yeah i think they're going to use all this shot clock here so six seconds separating the game
Starting point is 00:35:20 clock in the shot clock. Oh, great move. A great pass by Radissovich to lead Sam Bissu to the wide open layup. 10 seconds left in the game clock and going into halftime. Beautiful backdoor cut down. And the pass goes out to. Mickettire is he makes the shot. Mickentire is on fire.
Starting point is 00:35:40 He is hot. 3s in the first half. To close this lead to 46 to 41 Hillsdale is we're going to go into a half-time break. Let's do radio free Hillsdale. 101.7 FM. Hello, welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Hillsdale men's basketball sitting on Kentucky Wesleyan, currently up 46 to 41 going into
Starting point is 00:36:03 this second half of play. What are the storylines from the game? Well, it's been all about the offense so far, right? Hillsdale is shooting 55% from the field. Kentucky Wesleyan is shooting 53% in both teams, shooting 50% from three. And the one player who stands out in that regard for Kentucky Wesleyan is number 33. Logan McIntyre, he's shot five of six from three-point land. He's got 17 points. He's the leading score in this game. Chargers holding on to a five-point lead because they've gotten the line more and made one more three-pointer.
Starting point is 00:36:38 But a lot of fireworks here so far. I mean, we're on pace for, you know, both teams scoring over 80 points. That'd be well over both of their season averages. Yeah, for sure. definitely McIntyre shooting 85.7% today on fire from three-point range. Funny story for Hillsdale. Both of the big men, the biggest guys in the team, the guys who do not usually shoot three, Eric Radicevich and CJ Aryan, who are not usually three-point shooters,
Starting point is 00:37:09 have both hit a three this game. Both hit three. One for one and one for two. So the big men getting involved for Hillsdale. Also playing an amazing game, Sam the Sioux. with 12 points. He's had some really nice drivels, some really nice getting out in space and getting
Starting point is 00:37:24 open. They've hit him to some nice layups. Yeah, for sure. No, he's worked in, I think he's got most of his points on the inside. He's had some really nice finish. He's had some great passes that have set him up. And then Joe Ruder, of course, also with 12 points. Those two lead the scoring for Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:37:40 But, I mean, if you look up and down the stat line, this is an extremely even-matched game. Nobody's, you know, the steals, the rebounds, shooting percentages, all of it, very close. Yeah. Also, you know what's starting soon today? The NFL playoff games. The NFL playoffs are started today.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Ravens, Texans, we both pick all the favorites this week. It's just such a tough week to pick the players that are the teams that are not favored because of how heavily the favorite teams are favored. A one-seat versus a seven-seed, the Lions, Kings, the NFC, North versus the Bucks, the diverse division in football. I mean, the Ravens who have beaten teams by 30 points and they were supposed to beat by two. All right, Evan, that's enough football. Let's get back to basketball here.
Starting point is 00:38:31 I can't lose you. I'm going to lose you. I'm going to lose you. Basketball, though. Kentucky Wesleyan in-in-in-ball is about two miles to start off this second half. I was the hands in the McIntyre. There's not McIntyre. There does not look like Hillsdale's going to give him any room.
Starting point is 00:38:48 this half playing really high up on him. That'd probably be a good idea. Yeah, Fernandez. Try to take a shot on Yerian misses but grabs his own rebound. Great defense initially by Yerian, but a great effort by Fernandez to grab his own rebound. Yeah, Fernandez the leading score. They want to get him going here in the second half. Yeah, only six points in that first half.
Starting point is 00:39:09 So really need to get him going because it usually is their leading score. As the Sioux has the ball for Hillsdale, and I pass it down to Yerian. with a no-look pass down to Janowski, and Janowski finishes with the layup. A errant pass is stolen by Charles Ludum's, a great catch by Woodham's. Looked like a receiver out there. Absolutely. Caught it over the shoulder. Good sequence for Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Let's see if they can capitalize on the turnover. Yeah, Wittams takes the ball down and makes the layup. So a steal from Wudams and then a basket as well. Hillsdale is now leading Kentucky byzley in 50 to 43 with 18 minutes and 48 seconds. left. Yep, quick four-point swing there for the Chargers. Let's see if Kentucky Wesley can answer. Fernandez, back to the ball,
Starting point is 00:39:56 started up against the Yerian, the 6-10 sophomore. Fernandez trying to make a move, but misses great defense once again by Yerian. They're going to keep challenging Yerian, but so far, he's answered the bell for the Chargers. Yeah, he's young, but, I mean, 6-10 is 6-10, no matter how old you are, right? Ball in the hands of Yerian. outside the three-point line. Passed down to Woodham's.
Starting point is 00:40:21 Woodham's trying to make a move, but gets blocked by Mickentire. McIntyre came out of nowhere and blocked the shot into the basket from Woodham's. And then ball went off of Woodham, so it'll be Kentucky Wesley and taking it up the floor. Yeah, Wettoms tried to grab his own rebound, but fumbled it out of bounds. Ball in the hands, number 21. Cavion Mitchell, another guy who's hit a three-point in this game. Yeah, Mitchell, their best three-point shooter on the season. Let's see if he can get going in the second half.
Starting point is 00:40:53 On the hands of Mickettires, he's going to step out of bounds against Janowski. They're giving Mekintyire no room in this second half. Very smart from a guy who leads scoring in this entire game with 17 points. Yeah, you can tell that was a point of emphasis at halftime. Don't let him get any easy shots. Yeah, ball up to the Sioux on the wing. Wing out to Janowski. Janowski makes a move.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Oh. And they're going to call a charge. He's able to make the layup. I don't know what they're going to call an offensive foul on Janowski. Usually guys got to get set and not be moving at all, but apparently Janowski must have lowered the shoulder a little bit too much. Yeah, interesting call there. It could have gone either way,
Starting point is 00:41:35 but I guess they think Janowski pushed off just a little too much. Yeah, a ball in the hands of Jones Jr. Edwards Jones Jr. Trying to make something happen against Joe Rutter and kicks it out of bounds. Hilldale basketball. Tight defense from Rooter forces the turnover. Jones Jr. is going to sit down for the Panthers. As number one, Alex Gray comes back into the game.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Yeah, Janowski dribbling the ball for Hillsdale. Up to the top of key. The Yerians got it. Vasu fixed her on the screen and goes in the way and then misses the layup. I mean, it was practically in the basket, and then it just rolls out. Unfortunate shot for Vesdale. right there. Yeah, I thought that one was going to be down for sure. As number 21,
Starting point is 00:42:22 Mitchell is going to shoot a three-pointer and miss. He cannot get hot today, not been in shooting day today. Janowski with the ball on Hillsdale's end. Ruder makes kind of a questionable pass. Dierry didn't quite look ready for it. He's going to turn it over. Yeah, Fernandez knocked it away. Miles going quick. Going to draw the foul against Sam the Sous. Sam the Souss not like that call, but Here, Miles is going to be shooting two. Yeah, Kentucky Wesleyan, wasting no time on the break, getting the ball down the court and getting it inside,
Starting point is 00:42:58 and Miles will be shooting two at the line after drawing the foul. And he's going to make the first one. That's number one, Caleb Glazer, number 21, Mikey McComb. Two freshmen check into the game. Yep, Yerian and Woodhams go to the bench. Yeah, as they're going to look to, once again, Fernando is going to be matched up on Glazer. See if you can handle that a little bit better in the second half.
Starting point is 00:43:22 Glazer does grab the rebound right there. Yeah, it'll be a big test for Glazer. The freshman forward playing in the center role really today. McCollum has the ball around the top of the key. Down to Vasu. The Sue makes it move. And he's going to draw the foul against number 33, making tire.
Starting point is 00:43:42 The Sue, making it a point to get to the basket in this game. He's been very aggressive. He's been to the line a few times. Scores are only 50. to 44. Hillsdale lead with 16 minutes and 26 seconds left and this Hillsdale Men's Charger basketball game. As Vassu makes the first free throw being in 51 to 44. Nobody really on either team in any foul trouble. Most fouls anybody has. Two. As Hilsl misses the rebound, the Misu grabs the rebound and he makes the layup.
Starting point is 00:44:16 Quick three points for Vassu as he misses the free throw, but gets his own rebound and puts it right back up. He's having a great game. Yeah, the Sue, manned up against Miles right here. Like we thought, trying to get Fernandez on Glazer in the post. Glazer, though. Blazer got him. And he greets a great defensive stand right there as Fernandez does not score. Excellent play from Glazer.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Gets the block, rebound, and kicks it up the court to his teammate. Yeah, as Router has the ball, right outside the three-point line. Coach telling him slow the pace down a little bit. Just waving him off. I think he likes the matchup here one-on-one. Yeah, he likes the match-up. He has the speed on Fernandez outside. He kicks it out to Janowski.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Janowski misses the open three, though. Good offense there from the Chargers. Just couldn't get that basket. Reuter forced the double team. Janowski was wide open, just couldn't get it to go from three. Yeah, if we're going to go to a short meeting a timeout, you're listening to 101.1.10 FM, Ready Free Hillsdale. Welcome back to Dawn Tivitz Potter Arena. Hillstill men's basketball elites. 53 to 44 with 15 minutes and 36 seconds left in the second half. Some big scores for tonight.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Sam Vassu playing an absolutely amazing game for the Chargers. Yeah, Vassu has been aggressive and it's paying off for him. He's got a number of buckets inside and he's gotten to the free throw line a number of times. Yeah, he leaves the Chargers tonight with, it says only 12 points, I think, on the stashy, but I think that's not quite right. he's got at least I want to say 15 I would say at least 15
Starting point is 00:47:00 as Redisovich not Radisovic Fernandez great steel there by Janowski on Fernandez on Fernandez on Fernandez drivel Janowski with a drivel move
Starting point is 00:47:12 and makes it to the basket Wow great defense turns into great offense for Janowski gets the steel and the nice little mid-range jumper Janowski took it all the way coast to coast a little mid-range jumper right there
Starting point is 00:47:25 Glazer trying to mess up on Fernandez he's able to that time as he's passed it off to number one gray and then gonna draw a foul on number 33 Joe Ruter of those little chargers yeah they got Ruder with that hand saying he's yeah a little too much
Starting point is 00:47:41 contact there she's playing defense on the perimeter that Router does have three fouls so something to be careful about for him the rest of the game great screen by number 12 Edwards Jones Jr. leads me a wide open layup by number one,
Starting point is 00:47:57 Mikey McCollum. Defensive breakdown for the Chargers. Give up an easy basket on an inbound. Yeah. Also still does lead the Panthers. 55 to 46 before 14 minutes. Janowski shoots another out of deep two and unfortunately misses. Miles with the ball.
Starting point is 00:48:17 Passes in the corner to Jones Jr. Back to Miles, up to Gray, all around the arc. and Miles shoot the three and misses and Vesu with a great rebound and it loses the ball though it's going to be a jump ball there between Vesu and Mitchell yeah
Starting point is 00:48:36 who's got possession here Hillsdale does like the charges he's going to go to Hillsdale it was a great rebound originally by Sam Bousou but unfortunately just and I don't know if Wesleyan would be happy is happy with that offense didn't get any kind of penetration at all
Starting point is 00:48:52 they just swung the ball around the around the perimeter and then kind of chucked up a bad three. Yeah, Kentucky Wesleyan is beginning to do a very light press. And then they're going to do the double team. But you know, tried to trap. He'll still easily breaks it. Those still with a simple break. Pass out to Radicevich.
Starting point is 00:49:14 Radisovic to McCollum to Ruder. Router for three. And it's going to rim out. Great look for Ruder. He's going to take that every time. Couldn't get it to go there. Miles. Nice up against Wudham's.
Starting point is 00:49:26 passes us to Jones Jr. Jones Jr. Working on Router, trying to get under the basket. Some great defense, though, by Ruter, and Jones Jr. misses the shot. The diving rebound there, and a timeout call by Kentucky, Wesleyan. Excellent play from Gray.
Starting point is 00:49:44 And a great timeout call, but he might be down. Yeah, he went down hard. Looks like he may have heard it. Slow to get up for Gray. We'll check on him as we send you to a short media timeout. Listen to 101.7 FM Radio Free Hillsdale. Welcome to Radio Free Hillsdale. What can we help you with today?

Starting point is 00:50:54 on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Hillsdale Men's Charger Basketball against Kentucky Wesleyan basketball, 55 to 46 for your chargers with 13 minutes and 47 seconds left in the second half. great game so far for the Chargers. Great game, especially by Sam the Sue, one of his best games of the season. Yeah, getting kind of physical here in the second half.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Yeah, especially going for these loose balls. Two possessions, not quite in a row, but almost in a row, that have had jump balls on rebound plays. Wesleyan, inbounding it on their end of the court. And another screen almost gets the same wide open play they did last time. he also played it a little bit better as Miles dribbles it out, passes across. Great defense though by the
Starting point is 00:51:54 Chargers and then a foul by Mikey McCollum. Yeah, as Jones Jr. driving the baseline and McCollum called for the blocking foul. Yeah, McCollum did play that one right there, that screen slightly better, but still got to be a little bit better if he wants to
Starting point is 00:52:11 make sure doesn't get the foul there. Miles, with the layup, a great dribble move by Miles. And then just a little bit of touch, he's able to put that basket in. Yeah, smooth finish for Miles. Janowski, up to McComb, and out to Router. We're back to Janowski. Miles is going to tip it out of bounds, but it is going to stay with the chargers.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Miles is able to get a hand on the ball, but no worries here for the chargers. Just got to be maybe a little bit more careful with it as it stays with them for now. Up to Janowski. Janowski making a move under the basket. I have to pick it out to Woodham. This is heavily guarded. Out to McCollum. Out to Radicevich.
Starting point is 00:52:57 Miles is going to jump in front of another pass. Trying to take advantage of the of Radicevich on Miles in the post. He's got about a foot on him, but Miles is able to knock the pass away. Yeah, the speed advantage of Redisovich and Miles is what? Kentucky Wesleyan was able to.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Joe Ruder loses the ball on the dribble. And Miles, once again, all over the court this time. Kentucky Wesleyan. Panthers being very aggressive attacking the basketball on defense. Router. Oh! A great move by Rockich, but he misses
Starting point is 00:53:31 the layup. That's going to be one that he's going to want back later in this game. And a great move by Mikey McCone to make his defender fall, but misses the shot. Back-to-back, good offensive moves, but not able to make the shots. Both teams. He sold his own clip there.
Starting point is 00:53:47 There's a lot of good little. would say pass out of bounds from miles miles i think miles thought somebody was cutting on the other side but there was nobody there as dear bullsie is going to check into the game for the chargers and cole mclinney yeah a little bit of sloppy play here by both teams over the last minute yeah miles just look to tighten it up here miles had to seem i think miles had just so much confidence from what had happened on that defensive possession that he thought that he could just make that no look past and then everything was going well for me it was going to keep going well but no one of his teammates were ready for that pass so
Starting point is 00:54:27 there's going to be another off ball foul the third off ball foul for hillsdale this game got in the offensive end that one on it radissovich correct yep and he's saying he was foul he thinks that he was the one who was pushed but officials don't see it that way yeah 55 to 48 is your score. Hillsdale Chargers lead with 12 minutes and six seconds left in the second half. And that's going to be another foul off ball, this time by Cole McQuinnney. So Hillsdale currently has six fouls in the second half. Kentucky Wesleyan only has one. It's going to be a shot by Jones Jr.
Starting point is 00:55:16 A high shot, but he's going to miss it. Very difficult shot for him. McIntyre. That's the ball in the gray. Gray on McQuinnie trying to make something happen. and over Radisovich. So he dribbles around and ends up with Radisovich, who's a very tall defender to make a shot over,
Starting point is 00:55:34 and he's able to make it over. Great shot there by him. Just barely got it over the fingertips of Radisovic. Yeah. Bear Boltsy on the top of the key. Out to McQuinney, up to Radisovic, who wants to shoot another three, but does not. He's back in Rockets down now.
Starting point is 00:55:49 And he takes a fadeaway jumper and misses Rockets with the rebound. He'll still currently leads 55 to 50, because maybe they need to slow this game down a little bit. This might be a good time for a timeout if Kentucky Wesleyan does score right here. Gray with a great basket and the great score. He's going to pass into Cole McQuinnie in there. Not going to call a timeout.
Starting point is 00:56:14 He'll still only up by three points now with 11 minutes left in the second half. All up in the top to Bolte. Bolte to Redisovich from the top of the key up to McQuinney. McQueen with the fake shot. and gray jumps right into him and gray who had that elbow injury earlier looks like he's in a lot of pain right now I think he's going to check out I don't know I think he'll be okay but great move by McQuinnie there to to draw the foul exactly to draw the foul get him off his feet and then he just basically landed on top of him yeah he tried to he tried to make a move afterwards but I mean he jumped right on top of him nowhere for
Starting point is 00:56:51 McQuaney to go. Good for the Chargers, though. They needed a little break in the action and time to regroup. Yeah, regrouping is exactly what this Chargers team will. What look to do is maybe they'll call, you know, a play just to get the offense going. Something quick, something with a couple screens, maybe get somebody an open look, calm the offense down. Kentucky Wesleyan has closed this lead down to 55 to 52.
Starting point is 00:57:16 So a three-point lead, the Chargers hold on to, very slim, with only 10 minutes and 53 seconds left. in the second half. Chargers lead the game in steals, five to three, and have 14 points off those turnovers, which is just wild. Five steals, 14 points off of those. Now, Kentucky Wesleyan leads with points in the paint,
Starting point is 00:57:36 with 28 points in the paint, Fernandez having himself a solid game, but not as many as he usually does to spend other players dribbling in and making moves off Fernandez. There's quite a few guards for the Panthers that are able to get inside and make layups. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:54 Largest lead for Hillsdale, 17 points, now cut down to three. But Hillsdale has so far led the whole game, exactly like the women's game that we just watched earlier, where they led the entire game. Has not been down in this game, but Kentucky Wesleyan's slowly closing in on that lead
Starting point is 00:58:15 as we come out of this media timeout, but Hillsl does have the basketball up three points. Let's see what they're. drew up here during the break ball into McQuinney getting screen from Yerian out to pass out to Boltey bolty down to Yarian out to Woodham's Wendombs looking for the free but it isn't there so he's just gonna dribble it around pass it out to McQuinnie four seconds left on a shot clock and McQuinnie with a great drive but the ball rolls out of the basket that was a great shot
Starting point is 00:58:44 right there Mike Klinney just unfortunately does not fall yeah just couldn't get the can get the lucky roll Another turnover from Miles trying to make a no look cross-court pass and Mitchell was nowhere near it. Too bad turnovers for Miles now. Mitchell was not ready at all for that pass. A little bit flat-footed.
Starting point is 00:59:03 Wanted the ball to shoot a three and Miles kind of threw it to the point where he was trying to get momentum maybe to just get a lay-up or something. Yeah, a little bit of a miscommunication there. Not there. It was definitely not there. As Joe Ruder is going to check back in for the Chargers.
Starting point is 00:59:18 ball on the top of the key a three-point line with C.J. Yarian, now up to Ruter. Ruther. Dribling it around. Dribling it in the paint. Going to make a great move. Great drop step finish from Ruder there. One man on him and two light helpers
Starting point is 00:59:35 and he's still able to make a drop step layup right there. Great move by Ruder. Out to Rizovich, under the basket. Wide open is going to make the easy layup. Yarian kind of got trapped up and trying to help the offensive player and nobody was there to help him. Yeah, that's the easiest look Fernandez has had all game.
Starting point is 00:59:54 Hillsdale been very stout on him up to that point. Yeah, the game is 57 to 54. Hillsdale lead, Hillsdale possession. The Sioux passes up to Yerian. Yerian down underneath the Janowski, Janowski with a great layup. How about that? You get Yerian feeding Janowski under the basket, kind of switch rolls there that you're used to.
Starting point is 01:00:15 Great finish by Janowski to put the chargers back up by five. fadeaway three by mickentire trying to keep his hot game alive but he misses rebound hillsdale he'll still taking it the other way Janowski with a quick move and another great layup beautiful spin move and finish from Janowski great pair of possessions by him absolutely chargers back up by seven points and Janowski on a roll yeah he's got the hot hand inside of Fernandez Fernandez trying to take on the erin in the paint year he was some great defense and forces a missed by Fernandez. Janowski, once again, trying to take some momentum here, takes a jumper and makes another basket.
Starting point is 01:00:54 He is on fire as the Panthers are forced to call a timeout because of how great Janowski has been. The last three possessions trying to cool him down. Three straight makes for the Chargers, opens this game back up. Hillsdale leads 63 to 54. You have just a 30 second timeout, though, so we're not going to go to a break. Great, some possessions by Shannowski, though. The sophomore guard, he did play a little bit last semester, but there were so many seniors that the Hillstale Chargers lost.
Starting point is 01:01:23 And he was not, you know, in there at the end of the games. And in intense moments like this, great to see such a great player getting his time. Yeah, absolutely. You know, taking over as that point guard and that offensive floor general. And it has had a nice game up to this point, but really just turned it on here halfway through the second half as three straight buckets. and carrying this Hillsdale offense here in the second half. Yeah, doubling his point total from earlier in those last three possessions is he's now up to 12. Kentucky Wesleyan looking to make something happen out of the timeout, ball into Miles.
Starting point is 01:02:03 He's matched upon the Sioux. Miles throws another ball out of bounds. Miles is just not on the same page as everybody else. Miles is very frustrated. He's got three turnovers here in the second half and just not quite on the same page. that time trying to make a iffy backdoor pass to cutting McIntyre. I think that that was probably the play that they drove in the timeout. Yep. As Janowski has the ball back in his hands, pass up to Yarian.
Starting point is 01:02:31 He's going to miss the reverse layup. Beautiful feed from Janowski, but Yerian just can't get it to go. Yeah, it was a good shot too by Yerian and hits both the inside of the rim, but he's going to miss. As Gray hits both of the inside of the rim, misses. Janowski out with the ball again. Pass it out to Rooter. It's going to stay with Hillsdale as the ball falls out of bounds. Last touch by Alex Gray.
Starting point is 01:02:54 You can just see the confidence that Janowski is playing with right now. He feels like he's in control of this game. If you're the Chargers, you want the ball in his hands. Yeah, Janowski, though, has to stay calm. Don't take dumb shots now. That pass was a great momentum changer to Yerian. Shows how in control he really is. He doesn't have to force shots.
Starting point is 01:03:15 He can find his teammates wide open. Unfortunate turnover there by Janowski, though. Yeah, just lost the ball driving. And Mitchell with a drive and the missed basket, rebound Router. Ball tipped around a little bit down there on the rebound, but we were able to grab it. Yeah, good job by Hillsdale to weather the storm. Passing to Yerian down to Woodham's on the cut and a great finish by Woodham's wide open right there. Another beautiful feed from Yerian.
Starting point is 01:03:44 He's got great touch passing the ball for a big man. Yeah, he used to be very high and assists today. Great passing game by Ruder overall. Miles does not have the ball. McGintyre does, but Miles looks so frustrated just trying to get it. I'm going to call the foul on Vasu being a little bit too aggressive on the handoff. I think that's some great aggression, though, by Busu, because Miles is so frustrated right now.
Starting point is 01:04:10 Yeah, I think he's the right guy to target. Keep making it difficult for him. They've forced a number of mistakes. May as well keep going at it. We're going to go a short media timeout. We're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
Starting point is 01:04:28 I'm Lauren Smith, and I've clipped a line from a newspaper for your enjoyment. Here's a slightly edited version. Tom Brady's farewell year will quickly fade from our collective memories, overwhelmed by the enormity of his accomplishments over an unprecedented career. Curious about this enormity, and whether it had landed Brady in prison, I scanned the rest of the article, only to discover that the author has seemingly forgotten
Starting point is 01:04:52 what the word enormity actually means. You see, the news almost exclusively treats this word as though it means hugeness. The world's largest airplane, for example, was recently described as an enormity, but it actually means enormous evil. Here's a fun way to spend a Saturday. Enter Enormity into Google and click the news tab.
Starting point is 01:05:11 Not only will you feel exceptionally smart afterwards, but you'll quickly be overwhelmed with laughter. That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammarminut.com for more tips and tricks. Welcome back to Charger men's basketball in 101.1.7 FM, Radio Free Hillsdale. Hosedale Chargers currently lead Kentucky Wesleyan, 65 to 54 and 11 point lead for the Chargers. For Kentucky Wesleyan shooting, I believe, one-in-one free throws as they are in the bonus so early in the second half. It's the one thing the Chargers haven't done well here is they have a number of fouls. Miles with his first one in one and he misses.
Starting point is 01:05:56 Yeah, fortunate for the Chargers. They get the rebound. And I think that's really good because he was already frustrated and he wasn't already frustrated coming out of that timeout. Now he is going to be very upset. I mean, making some questionable plays. His Router, unfortunately misses the three. Attempted saved by Janowski.
Starting point is 01:06:12 He does step out of bounds, but I think that even if he did get the save, none of his teammates were there to help him out. Yeah, it would have been Leslie and Ball regardless. as Miles takes it up for the Panthers. Miles. Trying to draw up some kind of play, get his teammates set, get the offense set.
Starting point is 01:06:32 He's going to dribble. Make a pass. It's going to go off the hands of Minkentire. It has been a rough, rough sequence here for Miles. Especially passing, because, I mean, that pass was on a line, but Mickentire just not ready for it. Just a little bit too much smoke on it. Yeah, went through Mickentire's hands.
Starting point is 01:06:50 who has had a quiet second half after coming out so hot in the first. Yeah, his five or six in the first half is not really turned up in the second half. Charles Woodham's making a great move for the layup. I think that's a testament, though, to the Hillsdale's halftime adjustments. It's something that we talked about early on in the game
Starting point is 01:07:08 is that Wesleyan needs to be in this game at halftime because Hills does halftime as much some of the best in the league. Yep. Miles. Trying to make a move. And he's going to miss the layup. Rebound though by Alex Gray, offensive rebound. And a steal from Vesu.
Starting point is 01:07:25 Basu might be trying to take it coast to coast. And he passes to Wudoms, and Wudham makes the layup in a great transition. Great transition layup right there. Great offense. Yep, Chargers now at 15, 69 to 54. Defense turning into offense. Ball in the hands of Fernandez trying to take on C.J. Yerian, done a great job in this matchabas of Yerian.
Starting point is 01:07:48 done a great job in this matchup as of yet balling out of Fernandez head back in the hands of Fernandez and Fernandez misses another layup so you might face a lot of strong guys in the GMAC but Fernandez has probably not faced somebody with the size of CJ Yerian
Starting point is 01:08:04 Yeah perhaps not yet Yerian doing a great job tonight and Yarian now with a switch up matchup oh and an unfortunate missed pass by Joe Ruder Yerian liked the matchup as he got off of Hernandez onto somebody shorter.
Starting point is 01:08:21 And unfortunately, a mispass is Yerian was trying to get reset. Yeah, he was open underneath there. That pass was just a little bit lower. Yerian may have had a two-hand slam. Yeah, and I think if it was either earlier or later, because it looked like he had his hand up, and then he's putting his hand down to switch hands,
Starting point is 01:08:36 and that was right when that pass was strong. Just unfortunate timing for the charges. Yeah. But Fernandez is going to check out of the game. So they're going to put Rockets back in. Pickball violation. on the Chargers, I believe. It's going to be Kentucky Wesleyan ball
Starting point is 01:08:55 underneath the basket. Chargers not giving up anything easy here. The defense has been really good the last few minutes. And they've got to be careful, though, right here, because they have given up an easy basket on an inbound, but they don't hear some great defense. A kick out to Rockett. Rock is foot on the line, though.
Starting point is 01:09:11 It's only a two-pointer, and he misses anyways. TJ Erion going down the basket. Goh! There it is. Duncan, Hillsdale, Trout goes wild. So exciting every time you get to see a Dunkin basketball in the college level. And Yerian is going to follow Miles on the shot.
Starting point is 01:09:30 Yeah, beautiful play in transition. Yerian just gets out ahead above everybody. Pass was right on target and he finishes strong with two hands. Beautiful, beautiful play. Yeah, he'll still up now of 71 to 54. A big lead with only four minutes and 37 seconds left in this second half. As Miles is going to make the first free throw, 71. 55.
Starting point is 01:09:51 Yeah, like we said, the foul's one thing to keep an eye on. Kentucky Wesleyan can get to the line. They may be able to cut this lead as he misses the second free throw in Hillsdale has the rebound. Janowski bringing it up the floor. Yeah, Yerian having himself a great game, able to grab the rebound right there. Basu, with the ball, passes it up to Ruder. Router out to Janowski. Janowski back out to Vassu.
Starting point is 01:10:16 Basu makes a great drive in and an unfortunate miss as it rolls around and rolls out. Yeah, that was a good take, just couldn't get it to go. I mean, Vesu is playing a great game, but he's been unlucky. I think that that's the craziest part. He's playing a great game, and he's had some baskets that have just pulled out. He's left a few points on the floor. Yeah, it's Kentucky Wesleyan.
Starting point is 01:10:36 He's going to miss the layup, or missed the three-point shot, excuse me, and he'll still grab the rebound. He'll also now on offense, passing it up the Woodham's. Let him's make a great drive, a great move in a reverse layup. Yep. Great move from Woodham's.
Starting point is 01:10:53 Wesleyan having to get more aggressive on defense, and the Chargers take advantage of it. Woodham blows right by him and finishes at the hoop. Almost now at an 18-point lead, 73 to 55. Chargers are starting to run away with this one. Yep, and we're going to short a minute timeout. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 at them. This is the Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group. Franklin Delano Roosevelt's political career began as a state legislator in New York and ended as president of the United States.
Starting point is 01:11:31 At age 39, polio struck, confining him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. But that didn't even slow him down. In 1932, now President Roosevelt set about expanding the size and scope of government through his New Deal coalition. At the time of his death in 1945, Roosevelt had served four terms as president longer than anyone else before or since. That did not sit well with Congress, so six years later, they passed the 22nd Amendment stating, no person shall be elected to the Office of President more than twice. This has been the Making of America. I'm Michael Emerson, and you can visit us at jeffersonmediagroup.com.
Starting point is 01:12:11 You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 1.1.7 FM. Hillsdale men's basketball versus Kentucky Wesleyan as Hillsdale leads 73 to 55 with 3 minutes and 46 seconds left in the second half. Kentucky Wesleyan going to need a little bit of a miracles. They are down 18 so late in the second half. Great game by Hillsdale though so far. Great game by especially guys like San Vasu. As Joe Rooder gets another steal right here. Great games by guys like San Vasu.
Starting point is 01:12:42 A pretty good game by Janows. who had a couple of baskets since the session. We got a stoppage here. I'm not sure what the call is. I don't think if there is a call. I think there was something wrong with either the game clock or the shot clock. Yeah, they're looking up with the shot clock here as both teams moved to their benches. But to your point, the Chargers is getting great contributions from a number of players.
Starting point is 01:13:07 CJ Yerian, having a great game, Sam to Sue. Also, Janowski's action starts back up. Yeah, and Ruder once again, has... Adam himself, his normal great game is he's been great all season with 14 points this game. Samisou with the ball, passing it out, top of the three-point line to Woodham's. Woodhams was a great dribble move. And they're going to call it charge. I think Woodham thought he was inside of the little restricted zone.
Starting point is 01:13:39 So I think that's why he went at him a little bit harder, but it must have been right outside of it. I think that was a good acting job by Kentucky Wesleyan to get that call. Didn't look like a very forceful move from Woodhams, but Defender went flying. Yes. Number one, gray, ball on the top of the key. Pass out to Jones Jr. He's going to shoot a three, miss, and Woodham's is going to grab the rebound.
Starting point is 01:14:08 His Hill still holds on to an 18.3 lead. Oh, my gosh, what a great move and a great block. forceful block by Jones Jr. But Hillsdale retains possession. Yeah, Hillsdale. Janowski had a layup there, but it was a great block off the backboard, pinning it up against the backboard for Jones Jr. Janowski, with another layup.
Starting point is 01:14:30 This time draws the foul. And a great move by Janowski. Fowls on number one. Now only two minutes and 28 seconds left for this game. And Hillsdale, up by 18, Janowski had chance to extend that lead. Yeah, it's winning time for the charge. Chargers. Make your free throws, don't turn the ball over, long possessions on offense. Janowski buries that first free throw.
Starting point is 01:14:52 Play calm, confident basketball. Exactly. The only thing that could happen now is, you know, you making mistakes that could give this game away. Game is totally in the hands of Hillsdale right now. Yes, Janowski makes both free throws, making you a 20-point game with two minutes and 27 seconds left in the second half. Ball on the top of the three-point line with Mitchie. Steel and a great basket. What a great play from CJ Yerrian to force the turnover. And then the suit picks up the loose ball and lays it in for the Chargers.
Starting point is 01:15:31 Now up 22. Yeah, both of those two players having themselves great games today. Real reason why this Chargers team is up 22 points. It's just going to be a foul on Woodham's under the basket. So they'll be. shooting the one-in-one but big substitutions coming in here for both teams that Chargers is going to be summing out all five players checking into the game after this first free throw because it's actually two shots so as the first shot is missed short by Peterson
Starting point is 01:16:11 Cole McQuinnney Michael App Jacob Meyer Garibolti and Caleb Glazer are all going to check in for the Chargers Yep. These Chargers players getting a standing ovation as they check out of the game. This one well in hand for the Hillsdale Chargers. Yeah, a great game by all the players who are able to play today so far for the Chargers. A great team game overall. Absolutely. Just not get the rebound on the free throw, on the missed free throw,
Starting point is 01:16:41 but they do get the rebound on the missed layup. Paul McQuinnie with the ball, taking it up the court, dribbling on slow. He's really the veteran here out of all these guys. is the only guy who has played in every game. Very calm out there. Quentin with the ball. Passing out to Meyer. Meyer, back up to McQuinney, back up to Boltie.
Starting point is 01:17:01 Bolsey. Up to Jacob Meyer on the top of the three-point line. They're going to call it travels. He took one too many steps. Yeah, they got Meyer for the travel there. He was ready to make the pass, but his teammate wasn't, so he had to hold on to the ball and unfortunately took too many steps. Checking into the game for number, for,
Starting point is 01:17:19 Kentucky Wesleyan, number three, Carter Bischoff. I believe that's number 13. Sorry, number 13, Carter Bischoff. There you go. Bishoff. Pass to number four, Peterson. Peterson, guarded by Bolte. House number five, Dom Siboda.
Starting point is 01:17:40 Subota. Housa number four, Peterson. Peterson, who shoots the three and is able to make it. So Hillsdale, currently leading, 77 to 58, with 57 seconds left. in this second half. Cole McQuinnney takes the ball up, passes it out to Meyer. Meyer, down to App. Up to Boltey, boltie with a shot in the miss.
Starting point is 01:18:02 Glazer with the offensive rebound and miss. Boltee with the offensive rebound. So Hillslow's going to get a third, really, offensive possession here, as Meyer has a tip pass, but it's going to end up in the hands of App. App. With a pass out to McQuinnie, McQuinnie for three, and he casts it. 80, great feet. from Ab finds McKinney wide open in the corner and he nails the three.
Starting point is 01:18:27 Yeah, scores currently 80 to 58 as Kentucky Wesleyan is able to grab the wrong rebound. Gavin Reed finished with the layup there and this game. Chargers can dribble it out. This game's going to be dribbled out. So your final score after these 13 seconds is going to be 80 to 60 for the Chargers. A great win over a great Kentucky Wesleyan team. Remember how tight this game. at halftime, but it was the Chargers who were able to pull away, sustain that excellence
Starting point is 01:18:56 on offense, and get a very big conference win against Kentucky West. Yes, this Chargers team is now 8 and 2 at home, I believe. So they are phenomenal at home. So great game by the Chargers, some leading scores from today. So for Hillsdale, Samuel Vassou led the team at points with 17 as Janowski and rules. Ruter both had 14 and Woodham's had 12. Yerian also had nine. Then rebounding, Ruder with nine rebounds,
Starting point is 01:19:29 Woodham's with seven, and C.J. Yerian five. And then Saino Vasu, a shorter guy with four rebounds. Yeah. Don't forget C.J. Yarian's assist numbers. They came down with five rebounds and five assists. Like we said, a very complete game from the young big man. Yeah, I miss. Three steals by Joe Ruder and two steals by Sam Bousou.
Starting point is 01:19:51 Great game by the Chargers overall. Carter's men's and women's team both come out with victories. It's a great day to be a Hillsdale Chargers fan.
