Starting point is 00:00:04 This is The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group. He was an outlaw, buffalo hunter, gunfighter, and U.S. Marshal, who became a Western legend. In 1879, after taming the wide open cowtown of Dodge City, U.S. Marshal Wyatt Earp decided to join his brothers in Tombstone, Arizona. It was there that the West most famous gunfight took place at the O.K. corral when Wyatt, more than, Morgan and Virgil Earp and friend Doc Holliday faced off against brothers Ike and Billy Clanton, Tom and Frank McLeary and Billy Claiborne. 30 seconds later,
Starting point is 00:00:46 Tom and Frank McLeary and Billy Clanton were destined for Boothill. This has been the Making of America. I'm Michael Emerson, and you can visit us at jeffersonmediagroup.com. I'm Warren Eckstein with the Pet Show Tip of the Day. Your dog hates the car. Well, I'll tell you why.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Don't fall into the trap of putting your dog in the car only when she needs to go to the vet's office. How would you feel that the only time you rode in the car was to go to the doctor or have your body probed and receive a shot with a big long needle? I know you have to drag me into the car kicking and screaming. For a lot of dogs, their only experience with cars is negative and associated with stress. The stress of going to the vet or maybe to a kennel. How can we possibly expect our four-footed best friends to know the difference when we decide to take them on the occasional car trip to the park? Here's what I suggest doing. Make your car very pet friendly. Put the dog in the car. Just sit there for five minutes.
Starting point is 00:01:39 They listen to the radio and hang out. Then take the dog and visit some of his best friends, whether it be another dog or grandma or its uncle. Make sure the car is a positive experience for your pet. And I want you to understand the reason dogs bark so much when they're in the car is they see the other causes prey and they want to chase them. So don't overcorrect them. Make the car a fun place for you, a fun place for your pet, and everyone will enjoy the ride. On more or next time. Hi, I'm Hadley, a student at Hillsdale College.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Here is president of Hillsdale College, Dr. Larry Arne, on the Great Principle of Equality set forth by the Declaration of Independence. The great Abraham Lincoln described the Constitution as a picture or frame of silver, built a guard or protect an apple of gold. This apple of gold was the Declaration of Independence and its principle of equal rights for all. This principle of equal rights, Lincoln said, clears the path for all, gives hope to all,
Starting point is 00:02:31 and by consequence, enterprise and industry to all. There are many today who seek to limit or distort this great principle by employing a distorted definition of equality and a quality of condition or outcome regardless how people live their lives. This distortion, if generally accepted, will lead to an America less prosperous and less free. This Constitution Minute was brought to you by Hillsdale College. A promise is potent. Born of intention, fueled by commitment, it's seeing things through. Always showing up. And we know a thing or two about promises here at Susan G.common. Over 40 years ago, we locked arms with you toward one vision. A world without breast cancer.

Because if you've just been diagnosed and don't know where to turn, we've got you. If you can't afford the treatment you need, we've got you. And if you are driven to raise money to honor the best friend you've just lost, we have a place for you here. Because of you. We're supporting those who need help today

This is Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. With SRN News, I'm Jason White. 83 years ago today, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor killing more than 2,300 American servicemen and launching the United States into the Second World War. Two survivors are returning to Hawaii today, each man, just over 100 years of age.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Massive search continues for the man suspected of killing an insurance executive in New York. Chief of detectives Joe Kenny tells CNN, video shows the gunman left the scene on a bicycle Wednesday, morning. He later ditched the bike. And then from there, we have him in a taxi cab, and a taxi cab takes them up to 178 Street and Broadway. There is a bus terminal there. We have video of them entering the Port Authority bus terminal. We don't have any video of them exiting, so we believe he may have gotten on a bus. The terminal offers service to cities like Boston and Washington, D.C. The reason for the killing remains unknown. I'm Ed Donahue. Also at SRN News.com, political observer Ben Dominic says when it comes to artificial intelligence, the United States,
Starting point is 00:05:04 has fallen sharply. We are seeing China, you know, really outpaced us in recent years in ways that we don't fully understand yet. You know, certainly it's something we're all paying attention to, but it's something that we can't be allowed to happen in such a critical time. Domestic policy expert Matt Contenetti says he wasn't surprised when President Biden pardoned his son so much as by the scope of that pardon. He's not just pardoning Hunter for the crimes.
Starting point is 00:05:34 for which a jury found him guilty, the tax evasion crime and the gun charge. He's partying, Hunter, for all crimes he may have committed over a period of 11 some years. Contendetti says it raises questions about when the president may be trying to conceal and what he may be trying to conceal about the connection. This is SRN News. Christians are cheering Australia's social media ban. Plergiamen, pro-family groups, and other. have been warning for years that social media is corrupting the spirits, binds, and bodies of the world's young people,
Starting point is 00:06:13 and they're all congratulating Australia's government for taking action. Though it won't be implemented for a year, the ban will cover all children under the age of 16 and will levy large fines on tech companies that break the law. Social media is blamed for introducing kids to pornography and gambling, amongst other things. Michael Harrington, SRN, news. Germany famous for its Christmas markets that date back to the Middle Ages, but it seems like the LGBT agenda has come for them as well. In Berlin, there's now a gay Christmas mark that offers entertainment by drag queens.
Starting point is 00:06:46 There's also another Christmas market that specializes in. Takes the three. Got that one to go. With the left hand off the blast. G-MAC player of the year. Passes outside to Tavon. Tavon takes the three, got that one. Back-to-back threes with the charges.
Starting point is 00:07:07 ahead by three. Hillsdale Charger Basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM starts now. We're doing a Hillsdale men's basketball game here at Dawn Tibbitts Potter Arena. A nice little special little broadcast. You're playing
Starting point is 00:07:42 the Malone University Pioneers. So keys to the game today for Hillsdale is, if you can, make it into a free throw shooting contest. Hillsdale shoots seven or 77% from the free throw line. Malone only shoots 68%, which is not really that good.
Starting point is 00:08:02 So you keep that game close and late turns into a fouling game. I mean, it'll still with a huge advantage in that realm. Malone has five players that average over 10 points a game. Ryan Bartley, Edward Wright the second, Simon Blair, Trem Baumgartner, the third, and Caleb Conrad, yeah, they all average over 10 points a game. But then after that, there's really nobody else that adds many points. So does a lot of depth on the bench.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Get a subs in, you know, have a lot of guys averaging like 5, 6, 7 points. And everybody below them from alone only averages like 3 points. So depth, huge thing for Hillsdale here. Expecting your starters for Hillsdale to be Charles Woodham, Ashton Janowski, Joe Ruder, Logan Beeston, and Eric Radicevich. and for Malone, probably going to be Ryan Bartley, Edward Wright, Simon Blair, Trey Baum Gardner, and Caleb Canard. So we're going to go to a short media timeout.
Starting point is 00:09:06 So as we go to the national anthem, but we'll be back with some Charger men's basketball as they take on Malone. Hello and welcome to Radio Frile's 1.1.7 FM. Here we're Dawn Tibbitts Potter Arena. Listen to some Charger basketball as Charger men's basketball team takes on Malone. Charter's Women's basketball team, unfortunately, felled him alone, but your charter of men's basketball team is ranked 15th
Starting point is 00:09:31 in the entire nation by the coaches poll. Actually, by the media poll, sorry. Dominated in all their games so far, and just a very challenging Chargers team. We had a game a couple nights ago against O'DU, which the Chargers are a huge three-point shooting team, Mikey McCollum, Logan Beeston, two of their premier shooters,
Starting point is 00:09:51 and two of the premier shooters in the entire conference. They didn't shoot her. well. The entire team shot pretty poorly from behind the arc, and they still won that game predominantly by seven. A sloppy game for them, and you can still find a way to win. That's huge. That's huge. So just a great charger team all around. A lot of talent on top. Joe Ruter, obviously, freshman of the year, his freshman year, now a senior. And you've got talent all the way through the board. I mean, you've got depth on the bench. You've definitely have high. You have two guys or 6-9 and 6-10.
Starting point is 00:10:28 You've got centers, you've got forwards, you've got guards. His team has everything. This team has everything, and has all the hopes of a definitely a conference championship team and maybe even a regional or national championship team. This Chargers team is one of the best in recent memories since they had a couple of guys who transferred Division I, including Jack Goldie, our former Harts Madness, Skilt for Oakland's University. But she's hoping for a big win here for the Chargers, a very dominant state.
Starting point is 00:10:55 as they get their second game in conference play. Start off 2-0. I don't know that these managers are rankings. These isn't just taught. This is for real. This is for real. So your starters for today. Will be Ashtonowski, Charles Woodham's Joe Ruder,
Starting point is 00:11:11 Logan Beeston, and Eric for disavisement. So you've got some youth, Logan Beeston, a red shirt freshman, didn't play a single play last year, and now a starter this year. And then you've got some experience. Woodhams. We're both seniors this year. Janowski and my class. Janowski's a junior and then Regisovich is also a senior.
Starting point is 00:11:32 You really have everything that you could ever want for a Commerce Championship team. And like I said, they are ranked number 15 in the nation for a reason. Highest ranked team in the G-backer-old. Chargers were a very young team last year, and they were still pretty good. So this year, they kept a lot of their guys
Starting point is 00:11:54 We lost B, be able to one or two players. And so now they all have the experience that they need. It's just one of them we're seeing as they are 7 and 1 this season. They're open 1-0 in conference after me to go to you on Thursday. And they are 5-0 at all this season. They lost a game at a neutral site, but. Yeah, and this team just loves basketball. I know you can say that about probably Everett's college team,
Starting point is 00:12:22 but these guys just watch. Watching them play basketball, they get so excited every basket, every point. They're 100% into the game, and I mean, I've seen some of them practice. They give everything they got. Great effort, great discipline. One of the best defensive teams, and like I said, some great three-point shooters on this team. So we're getting ready for the tip. Chargers, as you mentioned, three points, they are shooting 36.5% from behind the arc.
Starting point is 00:12:52 and they're shooting nine three-pointers a game just a little over that. And they're shooting that percentage after shooting very, very, very poorly last one. So the tip, tipped out of bounds. I've actually never seen that before. I haven't either. So the tip just goes straight out of bounds. Both players touch it. And it's going to end up in Hillsdale's possession.
Starting point is 00:13:14 So any jump balls will go to Malone. Ball in the hands of junior point guard, Ashton Janowski. passes it off to B-Steen and hand it right back to Januszby. He kicks it out to Wadams in the corner trying to get the big man or Dissovich down in the paint involved. He is the ball, kicks it back out to Wadams, eight seconds on the shot clock. Wittins jumbling around five seconds on the shot clock.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Got to take a quick shot. Left hand reverse layup hits the rim. Shot clock resets, ball on the ground, scramble, and possession alone. And almost a throwaway, but able to be saved by Simon Blair of Malone. See, already got a player on the Pioneer's time their shoe that's Traybom Gardner.
Starting point is 00:13:56 O'Kinnard. Passing it off to Blair. Taking a couple of dribbles around. Outside the arc now. Three seconds on a shot clock. Step back by Kinnard misses the three-pointer. Really difficult shot there as the shot clock
Starting point is 00:14:11 was running down, rebound hillstead. Janowski. Kicking out to Participants for three. Those big men do like to shoot when you leave him wide open and they've actually been pretty good at it between Radicevich and Yerian. So Simon Blair running the point for Malone. Able to give him a great move, but a great help defense by Beeston and a block by Beeston.
Starting point is 00:14:36 And Joe Ruder able to grab the loose ball. Joe Ruter draws a foul. So foul is going to be on number one, Ryan Bartley. His first team first is 18 minutes and 34 seconds left in his first half of play. As you mentioned, three-point shooting. Resistovich going into this game, he was three-per-year-old. five on threes so he doesn't shoot many but if you leave him open it can be get dangerous gianowski hands off to radissovich right back to genowski kind of looking for a half
Starting point is 00:15:08 screen there didn't really get it beast in the big three-point shooter they're manned up tight on him and the ball passed to jenowski he kind of dribbles off of his off of his leg and bounces out of balance so it's going to be malone basketball ball past to blair he said blare set up the point ends it off to Bartley, out to Canard. Trying to set some screens, some screens, getting Bartley involved. Bartley on Radicevich, Bartley with a fadeaway jumper, and he makes this. So 2-0 Malone, first team to score here. It's a nice shot, especially with the big man guarding him like that.
Starting point is 00:15:50 You got a lot of off-ball screens coming from the pioneers today, and I think that's going to be the game playing a lot of the day. So still hasn't really had quite a great look yet at the basket. Wittem's taking a drive. Pick out to Janowski. Some great defense by the pioneers, but Joe Ruter wide open three-pointer, and he's going to hit it. A great pass to screen gets a Jude Ruter a wide-open three-pointer, and you just can't leave anybody on the Chargers wide open.
Starting point is 00:16:21 So Hillstell currently up 3-2 with 1721 in the first half to play. All in the hands of Bartley. Bartley, trying to take a screen, gets a big man kind of open. Kick out, dribble drive by Baum Gardner, and he makes the layup. Three to four Malone lead. Ball in the hands of Woodham's up top. Woodham's kicks to Radissovich, Radissivis to Ruder. Loder taking a couple dribbles and kicks it out to Janouski.
Starting point is 00:16:57 He kicks it back to Woodhams, trying to get the big man involved again, down in the paint. Regisovic got the ball down in the paint, trying to make a move. A little fadeaway hook shot, and it's good. Five to four, as Regisovic uses his size to get some leverage and have an easy hook shot that. Cards Rebench getting incited over the hook shot too. Canard to Baumgardner.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Baumgardner. Some help defense. Somebody wide open under the basket, but kicks it out anyways from the three. And the three is good by Jake Bruns. So not a guy we thought would be starting today, but somebody who, for the pioneers, but is anyways. Three by Logan Beeson. It's good.
Starting point is 00:17:46 That's one of the Chargers, two guys, who's a 3-and-D type of guy. He is one of the team's best three-point shooters. Him and Colmik Winnie are really good three-point shooters. Triple drive, kick out to Bartley, Barley-Rudor, and they're going to call foul on Router. As we are four minutes into the game, so we're going to go to a short media timeout. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:18:18 101.7 FM. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time. I'm Lauren Smith, and someone recently asked me for my opinion on the word skidaddle. Well, he didn't actually ask. He said he didn't like the word, and I said I did, and one thing led to another, and here I am making an episode about it. Recently, I suggested using highly descriptive verbs and nouns rather than heaping up a bunch of adjectives. For example, instead of saying the food was very good, describe the experience, of enjoying that food, using strong words like savored or, oh, here's a good one, scrumptious.
Starting point is 00:18:57 This can get taken a little far when you start using words most people don't understand, such as crepuscular, for example. I have no idea what that means, and something about the texture of the word makes me uncomfortable. In my opinion, skiddle doesn't fall into this category. It's an interesting, somewhat unusual word that sounds like what it means and is commonly understood. So, though it isn't frequently used, it conveys a lot of descriptive information. That's your grammar minute Hello and welcome back to radio for Heald's Del
Starting point is 00:19:26 101.7 FM missed a little bit of action but Hillsdale is now up 10 to 7 up for Malone C.J. Eureen is checked in for kicks down to Router and Ruder and gets an and one check back in just an exciting time That was a good team work there between Yer and Ruder
Starting point is 00:19:46 getting the ball inside Ruter is one of the team's best employers he is a senior so he's been here all four years he's kind of become a team so to speak and Cole McQuinnia's going to check into the game for Hillsdale as well so the funny thing about Hillsdale is that you sub about one big man and Mugisovich 6-9 their starter the senior and then you get
Starting point is 00:20:12 the junior 610 CJ Yarian so there is absolutely no no room for no time that you're going to get a short guy out on the court at center. Caleb Glazer is also pretty tall. He'll play some center as well. The sophomore, Yerian and Regisovich will play most of the game, but Big Men get tired a lot faster than other players,
Starting point is 00:20:37 and so Glazer gets some minutes too. He's a very deep team this year. As pioneers have the ball in the hands of Simon Blair, Blair, kicks it out to Walker. Walker checks into the game for the first time. right now. Triple handoff to Blair with a bounce pass and the dunk is good by look by Fraser LaRocq LaRocke goes up dunks it kind of misses hits off the rim three times rolls around and goes in I don't know if I've ever seen a dunk roll around and go in usually it's either straight in or just
Starting point is 00:21:15 pout rips off the rim but very soft dunk is Yerian the big man three and It's no good. Second Big Man 3, 4 Hillsdale this game, as Blair has the rebound for the pioneers. It makes a good move, but Woodham's with the block. Wettoms with those long arms.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Stayed in a great trailing position on the inside, making sure that there were no easy layups, and he gets the block. So 19 seconds left on the shot clock for the pioneers. Blair now be inbounding the ball. Making sure there's no easy baskets, Blair. Passes it out and then gets it right back. player with a three-pointer and it's no good some great defense there by woodhams and a pass that colmiquine was not expecting is able to be stolen
Starting point is 00:22:05 just was not ready for that pass thought woodham's was going to go down there and set up the offense but kind of passed off to mcquiney and the jump the pass was jumped by the defense easy steel and fast break points for malone ball in the hands of mikey mccolome up to c jieri and his second three-pointer of the game and he's going to miss again so rebranded bound pioneers in the hands of right right dribble step back shoot jumper is good being at 13 to 13 with 12 minutes of 47 seconds left hillsdale slowing it down here setting up a play McQuinnie to McCorm to Woodham's out to Bolton a lot of ball movement here on the hands of CJ Yerian erian looking for a kickdown doesn't see one garrett Bolte for three and it's no good and there's going to be stepped out of bounds so there's a little scuffle for the football and malone is going to step out of bounds which means the ball is going to go to hillsdale slowly get up there was to leak walker of malone
Starting point is 00:23:17 and multi is checking out of the game and it's like we've got yarian also coming out of blazers in yep so janowski the point guard throwing the ball in here looking for a screen he's got ruder in the corner but he looks for beasted instead finds beasted Beeston kicks up to McCollum. McCollum for three. So you've got Shooter 1, Shooter 2. Both in the court at the same time, but unfortunately the 3 is no good.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Rebound alone. He was open there, but he wasn't going to be open for long, so he had to take the shot quick. Yep. On the hands of Blair. Blair, trying to make a move. A lot of screens here from LaRoc. Jumper, fadeaway jumper by right is good.
Starting point is 00:24:05 His second fadeaway jumper of the game. with a really tough shot, but made it look kind of easy. Very controlled, very straight shot, no swinging around. Some great defense here by Malone. Chargers down 13 to 15. Beeston with a fadeaway three-pointer, and he misses. So Chargers kind of carried their cold streak of shooting from last game to this game. Not shooting so well from the three-point line again.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Ball in the hands of right, right, looking for a screen from the Rock. Chargers trying to play some health defense, but right makes a dribble move, gets the layup and misses. So a semi-contested layup is no good, rolls around and falls out, rebound chargers. Lays her there with the rebound and he gets into Rooter. Yep, Router. Kicks out to Mikey McCollum. Mikey McCollum, wide open three, and it's good. And he looks so happy about that one.
Starting point is 00:25:02 He's been kind of cold and he finally hit one. You get that wide, wide open shot, and you take all the time in the world and you just knock it down. So we're going to go to a short one-minute media time I'm going to radio fields till 101.7 a 5th. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time. I'm Lauren Smith, and I'm here to tell you that brand names are capitalized.
Starting point is 00:25:27 This probably sounds obvious. Of course, you're going to capitalize Puehl or Windex. But what about less obvious brand names that have also become popular words, like weed eater, hydroflask, Hoover, and so on? In formal published writing, these words, even though commonly used, still need to be capitalized. There's some wiggle room with this. Some words are just so commonly used and so rarely associated with brands that it just looks really weird to capitalize them.
Starting point is 00:25:55 It would probably seem strange if jacuzzi or Velcro or trampoline were randomly capitalized in the middle of a sentence, especially since most people don't know these are brands. You can be flexible with these words, but generally it's best to follow the rule, capitalize, brand names. That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminut.com for more tips and tricks. Basketball and rating for Hillsdale 101.1.7 FM. A very exciting game. As Hillsdale currently leads 16 to 15 with 11 minutes and two seconds left. He'll play in the first half. So men's basketball in men's college basketball has two halves, not four quarters. As you've got some Christmas music going on, Malone, taken out the out of bounds. The Hillsdale pressing here. So Hillsdale currently up one point.
Starting point is 00:26:40 ball in the hands of their secondary point guard number three Trayvom Gardner Baum Gardner dribble handoff Walker kicks it out to La Rock La Rock Drive and Dish
Starting point is 00:26:56 missed layout from La Rock and he passed rebound Joe Ruter Janowski has the ball outside the yard Yep Janowski looking to set up the offense waiting for some screens to come around kicks out to Ruter Router looking for a three-pointer up to Janowski.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Janowski took Woodham for three and he gets the and one on the three-pointer. That is huge, a possible four-point play here for Hillsdale to take a five-point lead. And you're going to get some T-s for threes as whenever Hillsdale makes a three-pointer, they throw out some T-shirts into the crowd. Big chance here for the Chargers to take a solid leader. So Woodhams. A very good free throw shooter. Charles Woodham shoots 75% 15 on 20.
Starting point is 00:27:56 But he's going to miss that one. So he gets the three points. And Hillstill grabs the rebound. Oh, but it's going to bounce out of bounds. Very unfortunate play. Almost an opportunity for a five-point play there for Hillsdale. So, yeah, once again, Hillsdale pressing. Pioneer's regular point guard is currently checked out of the game.
Starting point is 00:28:17 so I think they're trying to add a little bit of extra pressure to Mr. Bump Gardner. Ball currently in the hands of Kinnard. Kinnard's spin move on Glazer. Get some help from Wudems. Wittams pass it away and grabs it. So ball off the hands of Wudoms and off the hands of Beeston and back to have steel from Wudoms. That anything, Wemps with the steel ball. The hands of Janowski for three.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Three and it's good. Some great back and forth pass in there between Janowski and Woodham. and Janowski gets a pretty moderately open three and he's going to hit it. He is a phenomenal shooter. For some reason, his shots always look like they're so effortless. The fadeaway jumpers, he just looks like he's not even trying out there. Even though Janowski doesn't take many threes, he's still at this point now he's almost 50% three-point shooting. Yeah, so Kinnard.
Starting point is 00:29:09 So Kinnard able to get the ball in the middle of the paint after a lot. a screen, but Ruder tried to play some help defense and drew a file. Sorry, actually, Glazer tried to draw some, play some help defense and drew a foul. So pioneers will be, and may make the layup. I don't really know quite who that was. I have a lot of movement there for a second, but the score is 22 to 17, Hillsdale Charter lead, 19 minutes and 15 seconds left in this first half of play. With M's to Janowski, they're setting up a play, getting some offball,
Starting point is 00:29:47 screens here out to Wittams again Wittem's to Radisovich Rizovich triple handoff to Janowski with a screen now a mismatch Rizovich wide open under the basket and he gets hugged I mean number 15 to Leak Walker
Starting point is 00:30:03 didn't want him getting that shot up just kind of gives him a little hug down there Rizovich doesn't make many free throws so if you're going to get a shooting foul against him it looks like there's not going to be one but well there's also he's He's also only taken three free throws on the season, so. But it's not going to be when it was on the, the foul was on the ground.
Starting point is 00:30:23 So those kind of numbers can be screwed a little bit when you, or skewed a little bit, excuse me, when you only have three free throw shots. I believe he's better than a 33% shooter. As Radissovich makes the layup there. So great dribble drive by Joe Router, but instead of taking the tough layup, he dishes it off to the big man, Radisovich who has a wide open layout. Ruder kind of fake the layup and pass with the Ritzisivich instead. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Just a smart play from a fourth year senior. Puts up a three-pointer, and it's good. So three-pointer is good from Baumgartner. It's a great ball movement there by him alone, but Malone is down 10 points. A great lead here for the Charters is a decent attempts of three, and he's going to miss. Oh, and Radisovic didn't quite mean to hurt him or foul him, but he doesn't. does. A foul in the back court accidentally gets his hand on him trying to chase him down. Wingard kind of changed direction and ends up right in front of him.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Redisovich just pushes him over by accident. So Redisovic draws a foul and Garrett Bolte will check in for the charges for Joe Ruter. Just looked like Redizabeth got the guy's way and accidentally tripped him up. The one was taking the ball into the R. He's taking a three. That three-pointers no good. Rebound Mikey McCollum. Mikey McCollum, taking the ball up. the court. A lot of guys who can take the ball off the court for the chargers. Radisovic.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Out to Woodams, Woodams with a wide open layup. Great off ball movement and a great find by Radisovic because sometimes those players are just, they're just not there because you don't see it. But Whitams was looking and it was a great pass and great finish. Teams really good at playing close to the net and from outside the ark. They've got players that are good at either one, so it's tough to form a good strategy against. three-pointer is good from bomb gardner so a great job by malone going on a run cutting down the lead 26 23 hillsdale now McCollum fumbles the ball bum gardener on kind of a break bolchy on defense and bolchy with the steel we're going the other way great defense there by bulgeon what looked like a for sure
Starting point is 00:32:50 layup opportunity boltie gets back gets in front of the man and Bullty with a jumper now and he misses. But I mean, that's just an excellent effort play on defense. Bullty, it looks like he was made to play basketball. I mean, he's got kind of perfect form on defense, knees always bent. He just looks like the most fundamental player of all time
Starting point is 00:33:17 and he's been great for the charges. Very good hustle from two getting across the court that quickly after the turnover, then forcing a turnover in his own. ball in the hands of Baum Gardner. He goes up for the layup and he gets foul. So Baum Gardner, trying to have that fadeaway layup is,
Starting point is 00:33:35 we're going to go to a short media timeout. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. On Tech. There's been a lot of controversy about illegal migrants supplying for asylum through a smartphone app. But one company is now trying to leverage tech, including artificial intelligence, to assist legal immigrants,
Starting point is 00:33:57 who often need to deal with convoluting. and costly procedures to make sure visas and green cards are timely renewed. We don't focus on the legal immigrants that are in this country, and we wanted to offer them the most stress-free, affordable option in order for more people to pursue it. Yasmin Soruri is an immigrant herself who once had to struggle with the U.S. State Department, but her company, called Consulta Immigration, invites its clients to use a digital assistant on its website and its apps to help them renew paperwork or apply for U.S. citizenship, saving them time, money, and frustration.
Starting point is 00:34:38 With Fox on Tech, I'm Eben Brown, Fox News. Hello and welcome to Radio Fieldsdale 101.1.7 FM. I'm sorry that you'd hear me singing. I just love Christmas music so much. It's such a beautiful thing. What do you think? It is the season when Jesus Christ was born, although we don't really know it was born on December 25th.
Starting point is 00:35:00 But that's what we celebrated. That's when we celebrated. And God decided that for his son's birth, he was going to write some of the greatest music of all time and write some of the greatest movies of all time. So Christmas movies, Christmas music, just phenomenal. As chargers are currently up, Hillsdale Men's basketball, 26 to 23 at Don Timmets Potter Arena with 619 to go in the first half. Alone shooting two free throws here is Trey Baum Gardner, as he's going to miss the first one. Like I said earlier, free throw shooting. not Malone's strong suit.
Starting point is 00:35:35 They are a 7, what's the number? 68%. In the 60s is not good for a men's college basketball team. And Bumgartner's at 50% for himself. And he was able to sink the second one, but free throws huge, and the chargers are much better at them. Ben Malone. Ball in the hands of Colma Quinny,
Starting point is 00:35:59 in point guard. This is out to Router. Ruder with a spin move layup. and it falls in what an amazing basket falling down by rudder kind of just tossed it up there but knows what spots on the backboard to hit to make that one fall so good shot it looked like it caught malone off guard a little bit tray bomb garner with a screen and dribble drive that's what they've been doing all day and he makes the layup 2826 hillsdale lead but hillsdale really needs to do a better job of defending the pick and
Starting point is 00:36:33 roll. They've had wide open rollers and wide open dribblers on the point. And that's just been the lone strategy all game. Pick and roll, pick and roll, pick and roll. As CJ Yerrian misses the layup contested there. Along kind of taking their time on this possession. Yeah, a chance to either take the lead or tie it.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Tie it with a two, take the lead with a three. Fall on the hands of Baumgartner. As once again a dribble drive, pick and roll. And they're going to get a travel. So some great help. Defense by Joe Ruder on the pick and roll. Deryn tries to stay up and hedge the man. Joe Ruder helps on the roll and able to draw travel
Starting point is 00:37:20 because he picks up his dribble and takes one too many steps. Looks like the big man on Malone was trying to just push his way through and they were holding a little bit stronger than he was expecting. Ruder kicks it out to McCliny. McClinie, one of the team's best three-point shooters, but really does not take like step-back threes like McCollum and Beast and Dew. When he gets the ball and he gets an open shot, it's probably going in. Probably going in. Seven seconds left on the shot clock. Kick out to Yerian, Yerian for three, his third three-point of the game and he misses.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Rebounds, pioneers. Ball in the hands of Simon Blair. Blair, looking around. Kicks out to Baum Gardner. I'm going to be way outside the arc. He's dribbled to even be able to be in range for a three-pointer. Got another pick and roll switch here. And the big man, LaRock, looking for the mismatch on McCollum,
Starting point is 00:38:16 but doesn't get the ball. And it's still there by Ruder. So trying to go around Yerian, having a speed mismatch is Simon Blair, but we were able to play some great help defense there. So, Chargers, ball in the hands of Yerian. And a great pass to McIntyreux. McQuinney misses the layout, but he's fouled. So he's going to be shooting two.
Starting point is 00:38:39 But we're going to go to a short media timeout. He's listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome to the Astro Minute, where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds out of time. I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're highlighting some astronomical events to watch for this December. All seven planets are up this Christmas season, with Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn bright to the naked eye, and Uranus and Neptune visible with binoculars. The Geminid and Ercid meteor showers are active, peaking on December 13th and 22nd, respectively. Look for different colors in the unusual Geminid meteors.
Starting point is 00:39:15 December may also see more aurora thanks to our active sun. Beautiful winter constellations and objects include Orion with the Orion Nebula in his sword, W-shaped Cassiopeia with the nearby Andromeda Galaxy and double cluster, the Pleiades and Hyades clusters, and all the stars of the heavenly G. And we remain alert for the recurrent nova in Corona Bore. to suddenly appear to the naked eye. That's your Astro Minute. Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Starting point is 00:39:46 We were just admiring the name of Hillsdale, or sorry, Malone Pioneers number zero is LaRocque. Fraser LaRocque. That's kind of a sick name. But fortunately, Hillsdale has the lead currently men's basketball up 28 to 26 with four minutes left to go in this first period of play. They play two halves in men's basketball. So one more half.
Starting point is 00:40:08 after this hill still slim lead they do have possession cole McQuinnie he'll be shooting two free throws here trying to make it a two possession game McWinney hasn't shot many free throws this season this is only gonna be his fourth free throw attempt no but he is a very good free throw shooter I've seen shoot a lot before in practice and and when he has control it's a lot like his three point as he's of course going to miss the first because I said that but when he has control I mean you see it in in the way that he shoots his three-pointers when he has control I mean he's one of the best shooters on Hillsdale you don't want to let him get open for three that's for sure yeah as McQueen he's going to make the second one so 29 26 three points separating the chargers and the pioneers as charges are putting
Starting point is 00:40:54 a little bit of pressure once again on the loan but not very much kind of backing off as they get the inbound in time Blair with the basketball on his hands takes out right back to Blair though Blair with a drive, and they're going to call a body foul on Charles Woodham's. So on the block, he got the entire ball, but they're calling him on the block, on his hips. Making too much contact with Simon Blair, so Simon Blair's going to be shooting two free throws here. That's definitely not the score, though. I'm pretty sure that the score is, there we go. Now it's 29, 26.
Starting point is 00:41:30 The second ago, it said 28, 26. Simon Blair, a 58% free-throw shooter this season. 10 for 17. He makes the first one. Makes the first. So he cannot tie it up, but he can't put it alone within one point. So it'll be 29, 28, with 3.45 left to go if he makes it. And he does.
Starting point is 00:41:53 So a one-point game here in Don Tibbitts Potter Arena. Time for a few more possessions for each team here. A little bit of confusion on the pioneer sideline and so Woodhams is able to get a wide open three-pointer and it's good. So a lot of confusion on who is guarding who. A lot of switches, guys kind of just chasing other guys around at one point and you had Woodham's for a wide open three-pointer
Starting point is 00:42:20 and Rooder gets a steal. Ruter steals the pass from Blair and dunks it on the other end. And this place is high as alone is going to be able to force to call a timeout trying to stop the momentum from Hillsdale as we're going to go to a one minute media, or as we're going to go to one minute timeout, sorry, a 30 second timeout. You're listening to Radio Freehlestill Still 101.1.7 FM.
Starting point is 00:42:42 We all have a story. In this country holds millions. From the founding to modern day, from small towns to great cities, from citizens to famous leaders. Our American stories shares them all. As host Lee Habib says, America is the star every time. Listen on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Hillsdale 1.1.1.7 FM. We're here at John Tippett-Pottor Arena for Hillsdale College men's basketball as they're currently leading by six against the Malone University Pioneers. Hillsdale putting up a little bit of press as Malone has the possession, gets the ball inbound and pretty easily to Blair. Hillsdale backs off, making Pioneers set up their own offense. Ball in the hands of Bruns, Bruns. Pass to Nate Gordon.
Starting point is 00:43:38 First we've seen him all game. ball back in the hands of Blair Blair tries to dribble drive on Woodams and Woodams I think a little bit nervous about that last foul doesn't go for the block maybe he didn't have the angle maybe he was a little bit nervous
Starting point is 00:43:53 but a great move there by Blair for sure one of their best players Canowski Luter passing the ball back and forth behind the yard a ball in the hands of Charles Woodham's Williams kicks to Beeston who kicks to Glazer
Starting point is 00:44:09 for a wide open layup and the layup falls out but he's going to draw the fouls he's going to get to shoot two free throws unfortunate almost had a chance there for a three-point play ball kind of rolls around and goes out a definitely fouled hit pretty hard knocks the ground glazer's one of the team's best free throw shooters too he's probably one of the team's highest number of free throw shooters I mean big man actually only seven free throws but that's still pretty high for this early in the season as he's going to make the first one Oh, sorry, 15 for 18, yeah, 18 attempts. He is the team's best free throw shooter other than Michael App,
Starting point is 00:44:48 who only has two free throw attempts. He's shooting 1,000. Orcho Router, who's 17 for 20. Well, he is now, though, better than him after making that first one. But he misses the second. Router able to grab the rebound and finish the layup. So a missed free throw leads to an offensive rebound. Don't see that very often.
Starting point is 00:45:09 Just a great effort play there by Ruder. to get the rebound. Chargers are up by seven now with two minutes left. Yep, ball in the hands of Bum Gardner. Baumgartner kind of fumbles it, able to keep possession, though. Passed it out to Blair. Ten seconds left in the shot clock is winding down, dribble. Ball in the hands of Gordon.
Starting point is 00:45:32 Gordon fadeaway jumper and he makes it. So as the shock clock expires, he shoots a fadeaway jumper, gets a little push-off. Coach Kevin Bradley talking to the officials about it. but the basket is good. Ball in the hands of Caleb Glazer, Glazer to Janowski. Janowski for a fadeaway jumper, and he misses, which is unfortunate.
Starting point is 00:45:53 That's his shot. He loves that shot, and he's really, really, really good at it. But that one just kind of falls out. His form on the fadeaways does look really good. And three-pointer by Bruns is no good. Rims out. A minute, 17 left in the first half. He'll still up five points, 22 seconds left in the shot lot.
Starting point is 00:46:13 ball in the hands of McCollum on the top of the art. Looking for Janowski after a screen. Janowski drives in there. Kicks it out to McCollum for a three, and McCollum shoots and it makes it. And he's getting hot. He's getting hot. Shooting much better now.
Starting point is 00:46:29 He's much more relaxed than he was in the beginning of that game after knocking out that first three-point. And they're throwing some T-shirts out for T's for threes. As in the other end, Blair shoots the jumper, misses. Wide open jumper there for Blair looks very undercut. control but just an unfortunate remout for him as hillsville is currently up 40 to 32 with 36 seconds left in the first half of play very very strong offensive first half for the team yep 14 seconds left
Starting point is 00:46:58 in the shot clock 20 so 13 seconds separate the game clock and a shot clock so both teams going to have one more possession Janowski dribble layup and it's good what an excellent shot some guys who are taller has to kind of hook shot it away from him on the layup and it just swishes right in, not even hitting off the back. Blair, dribbling around. Four seconds left from the game clock. Shot, deep shot by Baum Gardner, and it's no good, and that's going to be the end of the first half.
Starting point is 00:47:28 So at the end of the first half, your Hillstall Chargers lead the Malone Pioneers, 42 to 32. So thank you for listening to Radio for Heelstead 101.1.7 FM. We'll be back in about 13 minutes for the second half. But we're going to go to a short break. Continue to listen. We'll be back. Hello and welcome to Ready for Hillsdale 101.1.1.7 FM.
Starting point is 00:47:53 My name is Evan Mick. Today I'm here with Christian Crabillon. We got it. It's French. It's very fancy. And we're here doing some Hillsdale men's basketball game here. Don Timmittsville men's basketball. Names is number 15th in the entire nation,
Starting point is 00:48:09 currently up 42 to 32 at halftime during this break. Hillsdale, last game didn't shoot so well. Shooting a little bit better today. Still not great. from three, but shooting much better than they had last game and they were still able to win that one. Now they're shooting pretty well and they're up 10 and a half. So, Hillsville just needs to, I think, keep putting up shots because they're going to start falling, you know, one way or another.
Starting point is 00:48:32 And other than that, defensively, I mean, holding a team that averages 76 points-ish to only 32 points in the first half is great. That's great. And so just keep doing what you're doing on defense. they've been the pick and roll game has been working a little bit. I think they need to help just a little bit better for that. And their new head coach last year, the assistant coach for, I don't know how many years, but Kevin Bradley became the new head coach of the men's basketball team last year.
Starting point is 00:49:01 And he is very statistically minded, and he's very, very good at making adjustments. So I expect to see some adjustments, if not a whole adjustment to that pick and roll game. Good shooting from both teams in the first half. 52% for Malone, 53.3 for Hillsdale. The big difference of the game has been Hillsdale's 7 for 16 on threes, and Ballone is only three for nine.
Starting point is 00:49:26 So a lot more three attempts, a lot more made threes, and that's why they're leading by 10. And you look at that sometimes, and you're like, oh, so Hillsdale's just a better shooting team or Hillsdale hasn't had a better night shooting? No, they're getting better looks, right? A lot of their Malone's attempts have come on, kind of step back, less second thing,
Starting point is 00:49:45 but it was still getting very informed, calm shots, though. If we're going to start the second half, Malone with the basketball ball in the hands of Kinnard. Krivel-drive makes the basket over Radissavitz. Got the lead down to eight. Fallenbound to Janowski. Janowski kicks out to Ruter. Back to Janowski up to Beston. Trying to get the big man involved, kicks it out to the former freshman in the year, Joe Ruter.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Ruder takes a single dribble in, takes a deep two and makes it. A really deep two. I mean, most of the time you advise against that shot as a coach, right? Because you'd rather have a three at a very similar percentage. But when you make the shot, I mean, no coach is going to tell you not to shoot it. Yeah, percentage-wise, those long mid-rangees are not the best shots to make. But if you make it, deep three there. And I have Bum Gardner going to bounce off the rim and go over the backward.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Bounce out of bounds, so Chargers is going to be inbounding here. Both teams played manned defense the entire first half, and they're looking like going to play manned defense here. So just who's better? Nothing zone, nothing fancy, just straight man on man. It's Rooder with another dunk. That's his second dunk in the game.
Starting point is 00:51:10 A great find by Williams, and honestly just a great play design by Coach Kevin Bradley. You get the double screen and you fake it, like you're going to get it out to the three, and then you get the second double screen coming around for a guy going right under the basket, and that's Router. Very good game by Router so far. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:28 I think he's perfect on all of his shooting attempts, this game. Ball in the hands of Bartley. Bartley, dribble, fadeaway jumper is no good. Excellent boxing out, except Blair is able to get in there for the offensive rebound for the pioneers. So I thought they had everybody boxed out, but Blair kind of sneaks back as Radzvich. Max the ball out of the hands of up Gardner. So 12 seconds left in the play or on the shot clock. Play clock.
Starting point is 00:51:54 Shot clock is basketball. And Simon Blair is going to be inbounding the ball for the pioneers. Handed off to Blair, right back to Blair. And he able to dribble drive, make the layup. So he kicks it out to the big man, hands right back off to Blair, who sets a screen the big man does for Blair, and they able to find a wide open layup on a great drive. No help defense for the Chargers there.
Starting point is 00:52:21 And they're going to call an offensive. foul on number 30 Logan Bies down an off ball offensive foul. So that's his first foul of the game. So nothing to be worried about there. Chargers currently lead 46 to 36, the 17 minutes and 50 seconds left in the second half of play. Ball in the hands of Kinnard. Kinnard, getting the ISO, and in the disavition, he makes it. Kinard kind of dominating here.
Starting point is 00:52:52 That's back-to-back baskets for him. Ball again outside the three-point arc. River kicks it to Janowski. Janowski fade away jumper and it's no good. Rebound Kinnarne kicks it out to Blair. Blair, taking the dribble. Passes to Bum Gardner. Bumgarner with a dribble drive, defense by Router,
Starting point is 00:53:21 and there's no foul as Blair falls, but he makes the basket anyways. She scores 46 to 40, Hillsdale lead. Kicks it down to Radicevich. Radisovic, taking a dribble. Trying to beat his man and they're going to draw the foul on Kinar. So Kinard gets the reach in foul, trying to go around Radissovich's back, hits the elbow. As summing in for the chargers, Mikey McCollum and CJ area.
Starting point is 00:53:53 Like we were talking about earlier, it is helpful we have depth with the big men. Yarian able to just sliding for it is a bitch. 6-9 to 6-10, not missing much size at all. There's a steal by Blair. So trying to find a cutting Janowski under the basket, but Blair tips the pass and it stays in bounds, and he's able to come back and recover it. Blair, trying to make a move, gets a screen from Knard.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Passed out to Bumgardner, though. Bumgarner, trying to make a move on Janowski. Janowski on great defensive form. Kicked it out to Blair. Blair misses the contested three with five seconds less on the shot clock, rebound is C.J. Yarian. Gersers out to Ruder, taking the point. He's Mikey McCollum wide open for three and he misses.
Starting point is 00:54:49 So Mikey McCollum misses a wide open three-pointer for the Chargers. Very unlike him. Great shooters. And he was one of the best shooters on the team last year. Don't want to be missing many of those chances. No. And Rooder with a block. So Bob Gardner makes a great move to get by his man.
Starting point is 00:55:08 And then Ruder comes up with a huge block. As we're going to a short media timeout, I'll listen to Radio for Hillsdale 101.7 offense. Fox on Games, your insider's chief code to gaming. Nintendo is offering plenty of options for gamers and their families this holiday season. Those looking to pick up the classic switch

Brian Holprin, Fox News. Welcome back to Radio Freehlestone 1.1.7 FM here at John Timit's Rale Arena, we're covering Hillsdale men's basketball as they lead 46 to 40 against Malone University Pioneers.
Starting point is 00:56:32 What did I do? Was that fast enough? Fast enough talking right there? Yep. Looks like they're about ready to get back started. Yep. Simon Blair passed the ball on the inbound after the Joe Ruder block. So the Pioneers only have 14 seconds left on the shot clock to make something happen. It's a barrel left for an inbound pass.
Starting point is 00:56:51 And it's tipped, but they're going to end up with it. ball in the hands of Bum Gardner. Bum Gardner kicks it back to Blair. Tries to find somebody underneath. Ball turned over. Cole McQuinnie will get credited for the steel. Ball tipped, though, first by Mikey McCollum. It's out of bounds.
Starting point is 00:57:13 It is out of bounds. I don't know if they're calling a kick violation or out of bounds, but it doesn't really matter because either way, it's going to the chargers under the basket. McQuinnie, inbounding the ball, looking for Yerian up top, finding it pretty easily. And the dribble handoff to Charles Woodham's. Woodham's to McCollum.
Starting point is 00:57:37 Tries to make a little screen after the handoff. McCollum back to Woodham, 13 seconds left in the shot clock. McCollum with a fadeaway jumper and he misses. But he's going to stay with the chargers. So a great effort. T.J. Yerian, three other guys trying to grab the rebound. T.J. Yerian tips it off, one of the pioneers, that falls out of bounds.
Starting point is 00:57:59 So Hillsdale will have another out of bounds play underneath the basket. Another chance to score some points on this disaster. Just like an offensive rebound. Passes to Garibaldi under the basket. He misses. Tress to grab the rebound. Doesn't fall in the hands of Simon Blair for the Malone University pioneers. Blair, taking a couple dribbles, kicks him to Bartley.
Starting point is 00:58:25 But now in the hands of Kennard. Canard back to Blair. Blair trying to make a dribble move kicks it out tends a back in in Blair's hands three-pointer by Bartley three-point or no good rebound Cid a yearn Mikey McCollum playing point for the charges on this possession checks it off to Boltee bolty up to Yarian on the very top of the key Yerian to Winn's one of him's taking a couple dribbles kicks out to Yerian nine seconds left on the shot clock ball in the hands of the 20 deep two is no good rebound c j arian and three guys standing on top of the key and the ball is turned over so unfortunate thing there all three guys on the top of the key
Starting point is 00:59:15 and the ball is able to be tips though uh and they're going to draw a foul on the fast break from number 11 Cole McQuinnie I believe on the foul that's his first team second not many fouls from this team which is good to see especially since if you need some late the game and nobody absolutely nobody in foul trouble so far so ball will be inbounded by bartley just moving them around a little bit and playing point is blair 30 seconds on the shot clock Blair taking on mccullum makes a move blocks by mccullin though under the basket there by Blair to get around McCollum, but McCollum, much like Williams earlier, Able's stay in that perfect trail position and just beat him over the top.
Starting point is 01:00:15 Ball rebounded, kicks right back out to Blair. Blair, not to make a move, doesn't get there. This offense runs through Simon Blair. Simon Blair has a ball on every single possession. Shot there by Bartley, no good. and we're going to have a jump ball on the rebound between McCollum and number 15 Talik Walker.
Starting point is 01:00:42 But the jump ball is going to go to the chargers. So 4640, no scoring in the last maybe minute for either team. 13 minutes and 42 seconds left. In the second half of play. Ball in the hands of Colm McCliny. Kits out to Router. Router trying to make a move.
Starting point is 01:01:02 Cannot find an opening. Has to kick out to Beeston. Beeston for a deep three, and it's no good. Running back on defense's the charges. Rebom on Simon Blair. This team is attempting a lot of deep shots this game. Yep. Simon Blair makes him move.
Starting point is 01:01:23 The layup is good. So the layup missed, but the putback by Kinnard, canard able to dunk it. So 42, 46. Chargers lead, but they're going to call a timeout as you listen to Radio for Yildsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome to the Astro Minute, where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds out of time. I'm here with Christian Pathlian.
Starting point is 01:02:49 We're here at Don Tibitz-Pato Arena for Hillsdale Men's Basketball. He currently leads 46 to 42 with 13 minutes and one second left here in the second half of play. Possession is with the Chargers. So Chargers basketball as we return. Five players in for the Chargers are Caleb Glazer, Ashtonowski at the point, Joe Ruder, Logan Beeston, and Mikey McCollum. So you've got McCollum. and Beeston in there. We're two big three-point shooters, so as they're making McCollum, tuck his jersey in before the play starts. He's just getting ready to take the court. Yep.
Starting point is 01:03:29 Cullen inbound to Ashton Jannowski. Ashtonowski coming up with the set play that came up during the timeout. See Kevin Bradley drawn it up. Ball in the hands with Joe Ruter. Deep two, and it's good. Can't give them that much space to shoot. Just can't do it.
Starting point is 01:03:46 Gets up there, jumper, and it's good. 48, 42, Hillslow's harder to lead. 12 minutes and 39 seconds left to go in the second half of play. Nice looking shot here from Router. Ball in the hands of number 30 now. Kicked out. Kinnard. Draws the foul.
Starting point is 01:04:05 So Glazer, I believe that the foul would have been clean if he was not inside the no-go area. I don't really know exactly what it's called, but that little arc can't draw any charges or can't get any lower body contact in there. So draws the foul, so Carnard will be shooting two free throws. It's only Glazer's second foul, so he's still in no real foul trouble. As Woodham's his chart checking in for the chargers. First free throw is good for Malong. Yep, 43, 48.
Starting point is 01:04:37 No, still charge a lead. And the second one is good as well, and that barely moved, but ball. went straight in. Bally and bounder to Janowski. Janowski. Taking some dribbles, trying to make a move. Janowski finds himself under the basket. The first layup is no good blocked by Kinnard. And Kevin Bradley wants to foul, but he's not going to get one man.
Starting point is 01:05:05 Thought there was some contact on Janowski's eye. I can't really tell him too far away, but it didn't look like that to me. It looked like there was just maybe a little, he blocked him a little bit and Zanowski didn't really have anywhere to go. get a good lead on the lightout ball in the hands of bartley with a move and a great move making a basket over both caleb blazer and charles woodhams he gets up there for that layout so scores now 48 46 hillsdale lead only two point game ball tipped in the back court but ashtonovsky able to grab without going over back because the tip by the pioneers 11 seconds left on the play clock all in the hands of
Starting point is 01:05:45 Logan Beeson needs to go quick running out of time five seconds left Logan Beeson fade away two pointer and it's good 50 to 46 11 22 left on the clock pioneers Simon Blair slowing the ball down everything runs to him it seems to be whenever he passes somebody they're either shooting or they're passing it back to him woodhams defending Blair pass it out to Bartley partly back to Blair like we said and Blair throws it out of bounds so Blair attempting to get to pass into Walker unable to do it. That was interesting. It didn't look like he was really passing it to anybody there.
Starting point is 01:06:27 Just went out of bounds. Yeah, I think he kind of just lost it on the dribble and tried to flick it out to Walker, but never really quite had possession of it there trying to get it out there. We're going to go to a short media timeout. You're listening to Radio Freehastil until 101.1.7 FM. An effective ban on TikTok is rapidly approaching, but a lifeline could come from one of its former foes, President-elect Trump. In Trump's first term, he signed an executive order calling TikTok a national emergency.
Starting point is 01:06:56 But in recent months, he is warm to it, telling Joe Rogan, his TikTok account helped him connect with young people and said over the summer he plans to save the app. It's set to be de-platformed the day before he is sworn in. That is if Chinese parent company bike dance does not sell. It's a result of a bipartisan law signed by President Biden in April. Trump's pick for national security advisor, Congressman Michael Waltz, has long spoken out against TikTok's Chinese government control. I've called for a full-on ban. We can do it. By the way, the largest democracy in the world, the government of India, realizes the danger. It's done it. It is long overdue. We should not allow our greatest adversary to access 150 million Americans in their data. With Fox on Tech, Alexander
Starting point is 01:07:41 Ahofe, Fox News. Welcome back to where you feel's down 101.1.1.7. My name is I'm in today. I'm here with Christian Pappley. The score is currently 50 to 46. Hillsdale Charters lead. 10 minutes, 56 seconds left on the first half or in the second half of play excuse me at Don Timit's Potter Arena so chargers with possession ball in the hands of Charles Woodens kicking it down to Joe Ruder on the offensive end Trotter nothing having dribbles not abounds takes to Janowski now to Glazer Glazer to Beeston back down in the Router overtaken a couple dribbles trying to make a spin move like some great defense there by number 15
Starting point is 01:08:21 Talik Walker River had no room so not quite a block but an incredibly contested layup there ball in the hands on the offensive end of Taleak Walker wide open three pointer and it's no good the putback is also no good
Starting point is 01:08:39 rebound Joe Ruter ball in the hands of Janowski now on the offensive end Gnowski glazed her up top since they've been doing a lot of chargers getting into their big man in the top dribble and a shot good
Starting point is 01:08:56 For Janowski, two points, 52-46 chargers. So a six-point lead here, nine minutes, 57 seconds left to go. Ball in the hands of... Been consistently holding a lead around, you know, four to eight points or so this game, and it's been solid. Ball in the hands of, I'm Gardner. I'm Gardner to Bartley.
Starting point is 01:09:19 Bartley draws the foul against Ruder, Router, helping him out. Truder bumps him, knocks him over, follow beyond the ground. I think that's Joe Ruter's maybe second. Yes, Joe Ruter's second. Scores currently 52 to 46 stills, 20 seconds left from the shot clock now. Pass him bounded to Ed Wright,
Starting point is 01:09:46 right up to Gordon, Nate Gordon, back to right. Not a bum Gardner, Garner, making a move on Janowski, takes one extra dribble, and the dunk is blocked by Woodham's, rebound pioneers, and he misses the layup. What an exciting sequence of events.
Starting point is 01:10:02 right there and the ball ends up in the hands of the chargers no basket for the pioneers some a great come from behind block by charles woodhams that's just an effort play from a great athlete and just a bitch trying to make a move on the big man and it's good and i think he just looked in him and said you can't guard me it's fun to see what is a bitch just charged the net when he does because he is pretty much unstoppable. Yeah. Elizabeth's playing very aggressive defense on Gordon. Gordon kicks it up to Bum Gardner.
Starting point is 01:10:43 Mugarner making move on Janowski. Switches with a Regisovich. Some very confusing defense, but somehow they always had a man on him. And a 30-second timeout. Excuse me, a full timeout. So we're going to go to a short one minute. ... where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time. I'm Lauren Smith, and someone recently asked me for my opinion on the word skiddle.
Starting point is 01:11:09 Well, he didn't actually ask. He said he didn't like the word, and I said I did, and one thing led to another, and here I am making an episode about it. Recently, I suggested using highly descriptive verbs and nouns rather than heaping up a bunch of adjectives. For example, instead of saying the food was very good, describe the experience of enjoying that food, using strong words like savored, or, oh, here's a good one, scrumptious. This can get taken a little far when you start using words most people don't understand,
Starting point is 01:11:37 such as crepuscular, for example. I have no idea what that means, and something about the texture of the word makes me uncomfortable. In my opinion, skiddle doesn't fall into this category. It's an interesting, somewhat unusual word that sounds like what it means and is commonly understood. So though it isn't frequently used, it conveys a lot of descriptive information. That's your grammar minute. Welcome back to John Timmitts Potter Arena here with Hillsdale Men's Charger Basketball, currently up 54 to 48 with 8 minutes and 24 seconds left from the second half of play.
Starting point is 01:12:08 Charter men's basketball with possession underneath the basket as we go underway. Huge news for the Lions last Thursday. Lions beat the Packers, and they have not clinched the division. The Packers could technically still win it. The Vikings could still win it. But they have finally clinched a playoff berth. So we're going to go back-to-back years, making the playoffs. from this great Lions team.
Starting point is 01:12:35 Back to Charger men's basketball, ball inbounded to Shannowski. I think that's a Router. Rooder to Woodham's. Woodham's trying to make a dribble drive move. Doesn't get there. Tribbles it back out and kicks it out to Janowski. 11 seconds left in the play clock
Starting point is 01:12:52 Radicevich hook shot and it frims out. Falls around the rim and rolls around the rim and falls out. So score is still 54-48. Chargers winning. Chargers lead. And Knard with a great move on Radicevich. It will make another basket as the Yerians is looking to check into the game. Ball in the hands of Logan Beeston. Great three-point shooter kicks it out to Woodham's.
Starting point is 01:13:26 Williams looking to spread the ball around. He says to Radivisovs back to Beeston. some woodhams. I'm Joe Rooter on the top of the yard, taking a couple dribbles. Trying to get the big man involved in the paint. Throw it all the way across. One second left on the shot clock. Gets a shot off and it's no good.
Starting point is 01:13:43 So what I'm just with the missed corner three. Rebound pioneers. Ball in the hands of Kinnard. Kinnard trying to take on. No, actually shoots a three-pointer and it's no good, not close. Hits the edge of the rim. It just goes out of bounds. It's going to be charged a bat.
Starting point is 01:14:00 Mike McCollum and CJ Eurion checking into the game for the Chargers. It's like what is a vet to go back to the bench? And we're going to have the refs stop to talk about something. I think they're talking about either the clock or the possession arrow. And there's some discussion. I heard him say something about hitting buzz. adding a second or something like that. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:14:41 Should be resetting the play clock here though. The shot clock, excuse me. I keep calling a play clock. I'm so used to football. While we're waiting, score updates from college football. Arizona State won big today. So they're going to make the college well playoffs. 4519.
Starting point is 01:15:03 We're out 4510 at one point. And Texas, Georgia just started that's zero to zero with eight minutes left in the first quarter. And here in our game for the Hillsdale Chargers, Joe Ruter with the basketball kicks the down to see. of Yerian in the paint. Yerian. Not quite looking to take him on.
Starting point is 01:15:16 Eight seconds left in the shot clock. Ball in the hands of Janowski. Janowski, step back, block. And the ball's going to fall out of bounds. So Janowski tries to take a step back jumper, but he gets blocked in the ball. Attempted rebound by Yarian, but, you know, there's only two seconds left in the shot clock,
Starting point is 01:15:35 so he tries to put up some kind of reverse magical shot, and it's no good and it falls out of bounds. Ball in the hands of right, right. defended by Janowski Tries to get a screen, doesn't get one, has to kick it out. Back to right though. Right for a deep three and it's no good rebounds. C.J. Yarian.
Starting point is 01:15:57 Great box out there by Yerian. Giving Kinnard no chance backing him all the way under the basket. Janowski. Foul there. So Router takes a dribble, draws a foul from Taleek Walker. So that's going to be Taleak Walker's third foul of the game. Not quite in foul trouble yet, but getting a little bit dangerous. We're only six minutes left here to go in the second half of play.
Starting point is 01:16:23 Tannowski. The screen from Yerian. Dribble, drive. Kick out to McCollum, Waulem, wide open three, and it's good. And it's good, and that's the guy. You can't leave open. Can't leave open a lot of guys in Hillsdale. Wanky McCollum, Joe Rutter, Colm McQuinnney.
Starting point is 01:16:41 Logan Beeson, those are three-point shooters. Those guys like to shoot the Rock when they're open. And Blair makes an excellent move. gets around him and makes the easy layup. Great move there to get around, I believe it was Ashton Janowski. As a score is currently 57
Starting point is 01:16:57 to 52, Hillstill still leads by 5. Router, with the ball in the paint, makes a great move, and a spin in a basket for Joe Ruder. 59, 52, 514, left from the game clock. Pioneers with the ball. Charter's doing a good job of keeping the pressure
Starting point is 01:17:16 on offensively. all in the hands of Simon Blair Blair trying to make something happen everything runs through Blair in here kicks it out to right right with a great layup and somehow that falls and it did not look like it was going to be anywhere close to good but it kind of rolls up on the rim
Starting point is 01:17:36 had so much spin on it and falls in excellent shot there by right right Janowski with the ball trying to make a move kicks it out to Yerian Yerian wide open three-pointer and it's good. And he was due.
Starting point is 01:17:52 This is big man. Center. 6-10, 4 3-pointer in the game in his first make. They're throwing out some T-shirts for T's for 3s out here. Every time the Chargers make a 3-pointer, they give out T-shirts. Also now in a 2-3 defense. Pioneers trying to move the ball around quick. Get off a shot.
Starting point is 01:18:12 It's Simon Blair, and it's no good. Looks like he rushed that shot a little bit. Afraid of the pressure. That's some good malmovement there. I don't know if they'll stay in that, 2-3. Ruter. Trouble has to kick out to Yarian. Good save by Ruter.
Starting point is 01:18:26 Almost lost it. So Yerian to Janowski. Back to Ruter, three-pointer, and it's good. I mean, I could have told you that thing was good when it was halfway in the air. I started calling it out. And they're going to force them to call a timeout as the Hillsill Charters are up 65 to 54.
Starting point is 01:18:45 11-point lead to the charters. They're biggest in the game. and still listen to Radio Freehlstone 101.7. We're going to go to short media time out. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time. I'm Lauren Smith back with another writing tip of the week. There are some words that you almost never need to use, no matter what you're writing. This includes words that are boring, overly complicated, or poorly defined.
Starting point is 01:19:10 There's a long list of words that could fall into these categories, but a few that come to mind include very, actually good, bad, biweekly. that sounds suspiciously specific, check out the episode I did on that miserable word, literally unique and phenomenon. If you feel like you must use one of these words, first consider whether there's a stronger word you could use. Replacing good with almost any other adjective, for example, is almost guaranteed to make your writing more interesting. Second, consider whether your reader is likely to need a dictionary to understand what you're saying. There's a fine line between interesting and overly complicated and the best writers walk this line like prose.
Starting point is 01:19:49 That's your grammarman. Today I'm here with Christian Paplian. Hillsville Target men's basketball is currently up 65 to 54, 11-point lead for the men's basketball team, who are ranked number 15 in the nation, currently playing Malone University Pioneers. Paul's going to be in the hands of Malone, come out of this media timeout. Charter's pulling ahead just a little bit with less than four minutes left. They're up 65-54, so. Yeah, it's their biggest lead of the game, but in men's basketball,
Starting point is 01:20:25 those leads go quick. A lot of three-pointers in men's basketball. A lot of changes of possession, but an 11-point lead is huge in any sport. In literally any sport that I can think of. Except maybe darks. Something lead in darts. Yeah. All the hands of Simon Blair for the pioneers.
Starting point is 01:20:46 Kicks it out, three-pointer by Walker. No good. not even close and the ball's going to be out of bounds and in the hands of the charges so the pioneers called a timeout and I'm now starting to believe that that was because they wanted to put this press in
Starting point is 01:21:02 they're in a 1-2-1-1 press a diamond so what they're trying to do is get somebody trapped in the corners chargers have to have some good ball movements they're not going to beat this press by dribbling ball inbound into McQuinney McQuinnie to Rooter doesn't even dribble
Starting point is 01:21:17 pass is up to Woodham's dribbles once, actually. And then steal by Blair off the pass. Excuse me. Steal by Walker off of Woodham's pass. Ball passed by Simon Blair, trying to get it to Knard. Steal by Woodham. So Woodham gets the ball right back for the chargers.
Starting point is 01:21:36 Ball in the hands of McCollum. Out to Yerian. Yerian on the top of the arc. Kicks it back out to McCollum. Trying to get one of their good dribblers with the ball in their hands. Yerian, ball tipped. Going to stay. So Yerian on the attempt to pass.
Starting point is 01:21:50 Ball out of bounce. by the Malone University Pioneers as Janowski checks back into the game for the winning. So 13 seconds left in the shot clock is Hill still will be inbounding the ball right here. Having their shooter inbound the ball here, Mikey McComb, so I wonder what the strategy is here.
Starting point is 01:22:11 Looks like they're trying to get him a scream, but they don't get there. So Janowski just has to pick it out to him. Five seconds left in the shot clock, the ball in the hands of Yerian, Yeran tries to make a move. No good. Askes no good rebound can arc. Two minutes and 35 seconds left in the game clock.
Starting point is 01:22:29 Hillstone with an 11-point lead. Just needs to play some defense. But Blair with a wide-open three, but it's no good. Yarian, great rebound. Ball in the hands of McCollum. Colum kicks it to Woodham's. Whitams with the ball in the logo. Kicks it down to McCollum with a wide open.
Starting point is 01:22:51 Layup. So it's off ball screen. Cut underneath. There's a wide open McComb with the C.J. Eerie and assist. On the hands of Kinard with an easy layup. And we are going to get a full timeout from the pioneers. As you listen to Rayfield's at 1.1.7 FM. We're going to go to short media timeout.
Starting point is 01:23:15 Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time. I'm Lauren Smith back with another writing tip of the week. There are some words that you almost never need to use, no matter what you're writing. This includes words that are boring, overly complicated, or poorly defined. There's a long list of words that could fall into these categories, but a few that come to mind include very actually good, bad, biweekly. And if that sounds suspiciously specific, check out the episode I did on that miserable word, literally unique and phenomenon.
Starting point is 01:23:48 If you feel like you must use one of these words, first consider whether there's a stronger word you could use. replacing good with almost any other adjective, for example, is almost guaranteed to make your writing more interesting. Second, consider whether your reader is likely to need a dictionary to understand what you're saying. There's a fine line between interesting and overly complicated and the best writers walk this line like pros.
Starting point is 01:24:11 That's your grammar minute. Welcome back to Ready for Yelstale 101.1.7 FM with Evan Mc and Christian Papalium. You're here with men's charger basketball. currently up 67 to 56 and there's two minutes left to go in the second half, two minutes exactly on the dot. So maintain
Starting point is 01:24:33 an 11 point lead is the challenge for the chargers as they have possession and you know Malone is going to be aggressively pressing and aggressively attacking that basket or shooting extremely quick threes as Router finds Woodham's in the corner but the trap kind of gets there able to get it back
Starting point is 01:24:49 to Ruter back to Wudham's again and Janowski beats the press but a steal attacking the basket dribbling it out is the pioneers ball three point shot and it's good eight point lead now for the chargers while inbound into mccone McCollum find woodhams winters with an easy pass to the basket and he gets fouled doesn't make the layup but he's going to get two shots here so up eight points you probably need to make at least one of these get three three-pointers instead of a couple twos. Chargers definitely in the driver's seat here.
Starting point is 01:25:32 The Malone has to move quick, and the chargers, when they get possession, they can move pretty slowly and run down the clock. Yeah, that last three-pointer from Malone was by Ryan Bartley, number one. As the first free throw is good for Charles Wittam's making it a nine-point game. This would make it a ten-point game and a four-possession game here no matter what, no matter twos or threes, has been. The basket is up and good. My Charles Woodham's a huge free throw there too.
Starting point is 01:26:02 His Reuters making sure the ball doesn't get inbounded to Blair. Their star player, ball inbounded to Baumgartner instead. From Gardner. Minute 26 seconds left on the clock. Chargers up 10. Brom Gardner step away, three. No good. Rebound Charles Woodham's.
Starting point is 01:26:14 Wittams kicks out to Ruder. Trying to bake the press. Does pretty easily. Double team. Double team on Mikey McCollum. McCollum. Trying to find Woodams under the basket does easy layout. up. So when you get a double team, somebody's going to be open. That guy into the basket open.
Starting point is 01:26:31 Happen to be Charles Woodham's. Great pass there by Mikey McCollum. Garner, fade away three. No good. Rebound CJ Yerian. His chargers, easily in the driver's seat. Up 12 points less than a minute to go. Looks like the chargers are going to pull this one out. Just don't turn the ball over. Be careful. Be careful. Be careful. Play it safe. Waste the shot clock. Even if you don't get a good shot up, it doesn't matter as long as the shot clock gets near or down to zero. It looks like the pioneers are not even going to be fouling. They're nowhere near enough fouls for the range. McCollum for a deep three.
Starting point is 01:27:07 And you're in with the rebound. So the shot clock's going to reset until five seconds. Sorry, excuse me, seven seconds separate the game clock and the shot clock. As the charges aren't even going to dribble here, waiting until there's less time on the clock. And there's going to be a foul by Kennard. So now there is no shot clock. Hillsdale probably just going to
Starting point is 01:27:27 inbound this one and dribbled out. A great game by Hillsdale here. 71 to 59. Looking like it's going to be a 12-point victory. They're just going to dribble the clock out. Pioneer's putting no pressure on the ball. So a great game by Hillsdale overall, ranks number 15 in the entire country,
Starting point is 01:27:45 and they pull out another victory. There are 2-0 in conference play now after beating O'DU on Thursday and winning today, of course. Yeah, much prettier game today. kind of an ugly game against O'DU, but when you can win those ugly games, that's huge. And you're talented enough to meet teams
Starting point is 01:28:02 that you're better than even, and you're not your best night. That's big in basketball because you have offense basketball. So a great win for the Chargers against Malone. 71 to 59. Thank you for listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 1-1.1.7 FM. I'm Evan Mick. I'm Christian Pappies. Have a great day. You've been listening to Hillsdale Chargers Sports
Starting point is 01:28:26 on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Now back to our regular programming already in progress.
