Starting point is 00:00:00 The following is a special presentation of WRFH Sports. The crowd is roaring. It's a sold-out game here. Takes the three. Got that one. The clock. Tavon is outside to Tavon. Tavon takes the three.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Got that one. Back-to-back three is for the Chargers. They'll charge your basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM starts now. Welcome back everybody to Don Tibbitts Potter Arena. I'm Gabe Thymar. I am Mason Bolton. Welcome back to Hillsdale, Michigan,
Starting point is 00:01:46 where we are taking on the last regular season college basketball game for your Hillsdale Chargers Men's basketball team. They take on the Northwood Timberwolves on senior night tonight. Shout out to our three seniors Tonight we've got Ashton Janowski, Cole McWenny, and Jacob Meyer. Basin, what do you thoughts on the game tonight?
Starting point is 00:02:10 Yeah, this is a great crowd tonight for this afternoon for a senior night. Should be a really competitive game. Last time these two teams matched up was a couple months ago. The score looked a little more imbalanced than I think the game actually was. The Chargers kept it really competitive, but both these teams have developed a lot in the past two months. So I think it's going to be a really good matchup. Absolutely, and you're right. Don Tois Potter Arena is rocking tonight. We've got the best pet band in the GMAQ.
Starting point is 00:02:40 We've got our amazing cheerleaders down on one sideline. On the other sideline, we've got both the golf team and the football team. And in between both home and away sides and stands are loaded for this big-time rivalry. Northwood just a few miles, a few hours up the road. and the fans look like they are traveling well both these teams are still fighting for a shot at playing in the G-MAC tournament so this is a game with a lot at stake so both these teams are going to be playing very hard for a shot at that G-MAC tournament absolutely the way as far as our understanding goes
Starting point is 00:03:27 Northwood with a loss could possibly still lose out of the GMAC tournament standings with Crazy Malone upset over 23 and 3 walls. So unlikely, but they still need a win to clinch and guarantee a playoff spot. Fillsdale, on the other hand, is currently sitting at the 9th season on the outside looking in. They need to win tonight, as well as they need some outside help. They could use it. They need a Cedarville and or a Kentucky Wesleyan loss to jump into the top eight. and basically all of the seeds outside of the top.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Yeah, like three spots. All could be reshuffled after this weekend. Yeah, there's still a lot that can happen today. A lot of great G-MAC matchups that will be playing out today. So a lot can still happen for the G-MEC tournament coming up. Thank you for your character, your work ethic, your success, and your positive representation. Currently on the court are our three amazing seniors, Janowski, Meyer, and McQuinnie all receiving their senior day jerseys
Starting point is 00:04:35 and getting applauded and honored by this amazing crowd for that national anthem for that national anthem let's get this party started starting lineup for Northwood is number zero Julie and Lewis Northwood is number zero Julian Lewis. Number 24, Will Young
Starting point is 00:06:53 the second. Number 23, Parker Day. Number 14, Jameson Eklund. And number three, Braden Chambray. And number three, Braden Shamray. Your starting lineup for your chargers. Tonight on senior night is number one, Caleb Blazer. number two, Garrett Boltey, number 24, Garrett Boltey,
Starting point is 00:07:25 number three, Braylin Morris, and two seniors. Number two, Ashton Janowski, and number 11, Cole McQuitty. One important thing to look for at the beginning of this game is the defense that Northwood is going to come out in. They played a lot of two, three zones so far this season, and that's what they played most of the game against Hillsdale last time. So if they come out in that zone, Hillsdale's need to get in their zone offense, and see how they can attack that two-three zone.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Absolutely. Some of the players to look out for tonight for Hillsdale, the best player in this starting lineup and one of the most dynamic in the G-MAC is junior Caleb Glazer. He can kind of do it all. He's a good shooter. He's a good spot up forward as well. He kind of plays a stretch-stretch-four or stretch-five spot right now.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Another game to look out for besides the two senior guards, Janowski and McGuini, is number three freshman Braylon Morris. Morris stepped in as a first year in Excel and is one of the candidates for GMAC rookie of the year this year at the end of the basketball season, whenever conference honors start getting handed out. Some notable fellas off the bench to look out for are two big men. Connor Stonebreaker and C.J. Earian, both bigger, have four or five, especially fives in the case of Earian. And one of the things they do especially well as Big Men is shoot the three.
Starting point is 00:09:06 You can catch spot up in the corner when they slip out behind the opposing defense. And it's something to look out for tonight. Yeah, a notable stat from last, The last matchup between these teams is Morris and McWenney combined three for 14 from three. And you need to be able to shoot the three ball against the two-three zone. So if Northwood comes out in that zone, Morris and McWenny are going to need to shoot better like they have the rest of the season. They're the two best shooters that Hillsdale has. So we'll be interested to see how their shot is looking today.
Starting point is 00:09:49 as we prepare for tip-off and more fans fill in. We're slowly starting to run out of spots to back out this house tonight. Tipping off tonight is Caleb Blazer versus number 23 Parker Day for Northwood. Neither teams opting to play their 6-10 plus big men in the starting lineup. Day wins a tip off in Northwood will start out in possession. Number 14, Jameson Eklund has the ball. Passes to number zero.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Lewis. Over to Day in the post. Pumpfakes. Swings it over to number three. Shamray misses the three-point shot. Recovered by Northwood. Back out to the corner. Northwood will cast it over to the top of the key.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Day now has it. Passing down to the low post to number 14. Eklund will dribble underneath the hoop. Come back to three-point shot, Dave for three. Misses it. It'll be charger basketball. Notice that Hillsdale's sent a double team on Parker Day earlier in that possession. Parker Day is an elite offensive player, especially his mid-range game.
Starting point is 00:11:34 So we'll see if Hillsdale continues to do that the rest of the game. McQuinnty takes ball up to court for Hillsdale. passes to Janowski. Janowski at the wing past McGuney over to Bolte in the low post back to Gwini
Starting point is 00:11:46 in the wing McWinney's passed to contend for Janowski gets tipped and a whistle gets blown
Starting point is 00:11:59 looks like it'll be Northwood ball as a foul is called sorry Hillsdale basketball
Starting point is 00:12:07 as a foul is called on Northwood Northwood did come out in that two three zones so we'll look
Starting point is 00:12:13 to see how Hillsdale attacks that but Northwood does match up on out-of-bounds plays, so they're playing man right now. Quinney sends the inbound pass intended for Glazer.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Get swatted out of bounds before it can get there. It will remain Hillsdale basketball on their side of the court. All zeros here on the scoreboard after one minute. McQuinnie sends a pass over to Caleb Glazer at the top. The key pass to Morris. Morris will pass back to Boltey, who will swing it over to Glazer. Glazer dribbling by a defense. Northwood defense.
Starting point is 00:12:56 under two point shot goes up does not go rebounded by boltie who buries it boltie's really good around the rim that was a great tip back by him northwood takes the ball back over there side of the court that's number 14 Jameson Eklund just like Bolte Eklund's really good in the paint that's a great great athletic rebound and put back by him as well the Quinny now for the Chargers by the logo passes to Morris who's even farther back on the court dribbles back to the logo passes back to the Quine in the wing McQuinnie will Pass over to Boltee near the top of the key.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Down to Glazer, the low post. Backstown to defender. Spins, shoot. Does not make the two-point jumper. Glazer loves that right hook. We'll see if that can start falling for him later this game. Shamray, now with the ball passes today. Over to number 24, Will Young.
Starting point is 00:13:48 For Northwood, who gets fouled. There'll be Hillsdale basketball after James Ecklin gets called for a foul. is number 33 Sweeney and number 22 Tommy Morgan for the Chargers. This is a very extended 2-3 zone that Northwood plays. It almost morphs into extended 2-1-2 sometimes. So this isn't a zone where the guards can just sit up top. You have to be very vigilant with protecting the ball in this zone. So now he catches a pass from McGuney for three.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Does not go rebounded by Northwood who takes it all. All the way back to their side of the court in a minute. Layup does not go off the fast break, rebounded by Hillsdale, and Bolte takes the ball back for the Chargers. Passes to Morgan in the corner. Morgan back to McQuinney, top of the key. McQuinney will find an open man in Janowski. Dribbles, shoots a two.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Drain's the two-point jumper. Janowski loves that 15-foot pull-up. He'll look to get back to that throughout the day. 4-2 Hillsdale, 17 minutes left in the first half. Northwood misses their own two-point baseline jumper, rebounded by the Chargers. Stansky takes the ball back for Hillsdale, passes McWinney. For three, top of the key. Does not go, rebounded by Northwood.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Number three, Shamray takes the ball back for Northwood. Passed to Sweeney over to Lewis. Lewis spins, passed blocked by Bolte, rebounded or recovered by Northwood. Now, Day has the ball in the low post, guarded by laser. passing the top of the key deep three does not go rebounded by Northwood and makes the two-point jumper
Starting point is 00:15:47 Hillsdale's then another double team on Parker Day there and he kicked it out for a three-point shot so hope that they continue to do that hopefully Northwood can continue to miss those threes Boltee with his own two-point shot from the stripe six six four with sixteen minutes left Hillsdale leading Shamray now with the ball
Starting point is 00:16:06 for Northwood at the wing past at the top of the key that's day. Over to the corner, that's Lewis. Lewis dribbles off a pick, passes to number 24. Young puts the ball on a rope to Sweeney, who was fouled on his... Who was fouled before he can get his jumper off,
Starting point is 00:16:29 and we will go to our first media timeout. You've been listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM will be back at 60 seconds. It's a very creative story with a very grounding center to it. But it's kind of all over the place in the best way possible.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Come attend Big Fish from March 4th through the 8th at 7.30 Wednesday through Saturday and at 2 on Sunday to see and hear the whole story. Welcome back, everybody. I'm Gabe Theemar. I am Mason Moulton. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Your chargers are leading the Northwood Timberwolf, 6-24-1541 left in the first half. Right now, Northwood will be shooting two free throws, number 33, Sweeney. After being fouled by the Chargers,
Starting point is 00:18:08 Sweeney prepares to take his first. First shot goes up. Misses off the backboard. Rare free throw miss for Sweeney, shooting 78 from the line this year. We'll see if you can get the second one to go. Sweeney scores the second one from the strike. 6'5 Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:18:35 McQuinnney takes the ball up court for your chargers. Northwood comes out in man-to-man here, so switching up their defense. Yerian C.J. Yerian, big number 31 now in for the charges. Passes to number 23. That's Matt Buckman. Back over to McQuinnie at the top of the key. McQueenie over to Stonebreaker. Stonebreaker for three. Does not go. Rebounded by Northwood. Northwood dribbles passes to Day in the low post, guarded by Stonebreaker. Day pump fakes dribbles and puts a two-point shot up and buries it. Hillsdale sent that double team again, but Day is so good.
Starting point is 00:19:15 He got to split right through that and got a bucket. Yuri end pass the ball back up, McQuinney for Hillsdale. Oda, Stonebreaker for three. Sorry, Buckman for three, does not go. rebounded by Northwood. Andrew Smith now with the ball for Northwood. Pass over to Day, back to the top of the key. Now, Smith again for three.
Starting point is 00:19:39 After some good ball, no good, rebounded by Hillsdale. Neither team are both teams struggling so far. from three. Morgan passed to Stonebreaker in the low post. Stonebreaker triples around two defenders, pass it to Morgan, who kisses the glass for a big time layup. It's 8-7 Hillsdale, 14, 15, left in the first half.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Northwood back in their zone there. That's a great cut by Tommy Morgan and a great find by Connor Stonebreaker out of the low post. Number two, Miles Jackson takes a ball up court for the Timberwolves, passes over to a teammate at the top of the key. who finds Day in the wing. Day finds an open Sweeney
Starting point is 00:20:21 who makes a two-point field goal. McQuinnie had passed the ball over to Tommy Morgan, who was fouled by a Northwood player, sorry, excuse me. Now checking in for the Chargers, we've got two freshmen on the court in Brayland Morris and Paxton Gertz. Number 30 Stonebreaker, 31-Yearion, and number two, Ashton Janowski.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Gertz catches the inbound pass, passes back to Shannowski, top of the key. Janowski finds a wide open Paxton Gertz. From three, does not go. Rebounded by Northwood. Northwood will make a quick pass down into the low post, has to
Starting point is 00:21:15 triple back out to the three-point line, spins, shoots, makes a two-point field goal. That was a great drive by We'll see a lot more of that from him throughout the day. Gertz now with the ball for the Chargers passes to Morris. Morris will pass over to the other wing. That's Stonebreaker.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Stonebreaker will pull up and take his own two-point jumper. Sinks it. Chargers trail by one, 13 minutes left in the first half. Jackson passes over to Julian Lewis. Lewis sends the ball down into the paint. Northwood cannot keep possession. sends it back over to save it and is miraculously caught by number three. Braden Shamray, whose layup does not go.
Starting point is 00:22:07 But Shamaray is fouled by Paxton Gertz. He will go to the free throw line. Shamray's first three-point free throw is no good. Checking in now for the Chargers is. 24, Garrett Bulte. And for number 30, Stonebreaker. Northwood also gets their leading score. Will Young back on the court.
Starting point is 00:22:39 He's an elite all-around offensive player, and he can score at all three levels. Second free throw also doesn't go. Ashtonowski gets the rebound and takes the ball back for the charges. Passes to Morris. Morris at the logo now. Guarded by Shamray.
Starting point is 00:22:53 Morris passes to Gertz. Gertz over to Janowski in the corner. Janowski will take it to the wing. Swing it over to Morris. Morris for three from downtown is good. Good to see Morris get a three early in the game. Hopefully he can continue to hit those three-point shots for the Chargers. Chargers will retake the lead. 13, 11, 12 minutes left in the first half.
Starting point is 00:23:15 But Chambray passes to Julian Lewis over to the top of the key. Northwood will drive, spin. Two-point jumper does not go, rebounded by the Chargers. He knowsky takes the ball back for Hillsdale. We'll hold the ball. Northwood back in a two-three zone. Passes over to Paxton Gertz. Down to Bolte and down by the baseline.
Starting point is 00:23:42 We'll pass around his hip. Pass does not go. Intent for Paxton Gerts. But Northwood will pass the ball out of bounds and remain Hillsdale basketball. And with that, we'll go to another time out. And we will see you again in 60 seconds. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.

Starting point is 00:24:55 iPad OS, and VisionOS version 26.4. With Fox on Tech, I'm Evan Brown, Fox News. Welcome back everybody to Don Tibbetts Potter Arena. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale 1.1.1.7 FM. I'm Gabe Thiemar. I'm Mason Moulton. Your charges currently lead the Northwood Timberwell's 1311, 11, 133 left in the first half. Mason, what do you see in?
Starting point is 00:25:20 Yeah, this is a great game so far. Hillsdale's trying to attack this zone. One thing about this zone is they get very extended Northwood does. So look for the Chargers to attack that short corner area and get some open shots, they just did right there. Great play drawn up for Garrett Bolton. That was great look for the Chargers. Northwood will take the ball back. This is number two. Javante Smith passes to Julian Lewis over to Eklund.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Eklund will pass to number 24 Young the second. Back to Javante Smith. Smith swings it back over to Day. And Day kisses the glass on a two-point field goal. Chargers up by two with 11 left. 11 minutes left in the first half. Bolting out the ball passes over to Janowski, the other wing. Janowski drives past to Glazer. Glazer pass over to Bolte.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Boltey with a shot at the elbow, sinks it. The Chargers can get a lot of offensive action from that high post area, but you have to be careful because the defense will collapse immediately when the ball goes in there. Day now with the ball at the top of the key. Four Northwood hands it off to Lewis. Lewis over to number two, Javante.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Smith, whose pass intended for Eklund was swatted away by Boltey. That was really good post-defense there by Garrett Boltee. Eklund loves to play with his back to the basket. So that was really good defense there from Boltee. Northwood will endbound on their side of the ball. Chfonte Smith sends it over to day. Day, the star of the show over here in Northwood. Dribles, step back, two-point shot, does not go.
Starting point is 00:26:54 Pumpfakes, it passes it to Julian Lewis, who dribbles down the baseline. Blocked! layup blocked by Brayland Morris. Janowski now with the ball for the chargers over in the corner. Takes it back to the top of the key pass. McQuinney. McQuiny will get fouled, pushing foul by number 24 young. Hillsdale basketball down to their side of the court.
Starting point is 00:27:20 They lead 17 to 13, 10 minutes left in the first half. McQuinnie catch the inbound pass, pass it over to Janowski. Janowski takes it spins, swings it back out in three points. point line. Brayland Moore is dribbling into the corner. Passes back to Janowski. Janowski from downtown does not go. Ball flies out of bounds and they say it bounced off a Northwood Hillsdale player last. It'll be Northwood basketball. Yeah, Janowski taking a three there. He'd much rather prefer a 15-foot shot, but he will also shoot the three. I'd like to see him get in the high post and get his 15-foot game going from there. Chfonte Smith taking the ball up to court.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Smith passes to Day Day dribbles down into the low post spin shoots. Misses his two-point jumper. Pradlin Morris takes a ball up for the charges, passes over to McQuinnie. McQuinnie sends it back over to Morris, over to Janowski, new wing. Janowski finds Cole McQuinnie who shoots a two-point jumper. Deep two does not go, rebounded by Northwood. Number 24, Young takes ball up to court now for Northwood. sends it over to number two Jackson. Jackson dribbles down.
Starting point is 00:28:40 The baseline, almost stolen. Ball knocked away, caught by Day. Who passes to Young. Young finds Day again on a give and go. Snatched. Raylon Morris was called for a foul, but it looked like he had just came in there and snatched ball right out of Day's hands. Young and Day looking to get a two-man action going there. They both stirred out kind of slow. Northwood's two leading scores. we'll see if they can get going here. Parker Day now.
Starting point is 00:29:12 Sorry, Northwoods will inbound on their side of the court. Number three, Shamray. Another foul is called before the inbound pass can be made, and that will be on Sweeney. Ooh, looks like knocked over Tommy Morgan. Eklund checking in now for Sweeney and the Timberwolves. I think that foul is actually on Will Young the second, which is a huge foul, because that's his second.
Starting point is 00:29:37 So he's going to take a seat here early about halfway through the first half. McQuinney takes the inbound and takes it up the court for the chargers. Northwood back in there, two, three. Passes over to Matt Buckman, number 23. Buckman over to Boltey in the corner. Voltsy backs down to defender, spins, passes to McQuinnie. McQuinnie from downtown is good. Huge three from McQuinnie.
Starting point is 00:30:03 It's great to see Morrison McQuinnney both hitting threes early in this game. McQuinney for a corner three. It's 2013 Chargers, 8.30 left in the first half. Eklund. Bounce pass, intended for Parker Day, flies out of bounds. Parker Day cut back to the corner instead of to the basket. Coming into this game, it'd be necessary for Hillsdale to have elite on-ball defense, and so far they're doing that, which is the reason they're up 20 to 13 right now.
Starting point is 00:30:29 McQuinnty takes the ball for the Chargers pass over to number 23. Buckman. Buckman sends it back over to McQuinnie in the wing. passes to C.J. Yerian in the corner. Over to Tommy Morgan. Across the court. Across the court again. Over to Yerian in the low post. And the ball will go out of bounds and it will be Northwood basketball.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Number three, Shamray takes ball up for Northwood. Dribbles off a pick. Passed to Parker Day in the corner. Day looking for a teammate. Ops to pass over to Eklund. Eklund for three. Makes the three-point field goal. Hillsdale tried to transition after double team in Parker Day and just wasn't quick enough to get that shot covered.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Paxinger takes the ball up to court for the charges. Passed to Garrett Bolte. Bolte over to Buckman. Buckman at the elbow. Passed back to the top of the key. Over to a wide open. Tommy Morgan. Shot does not go, though. Rebounded by the Timberwolves. Sham right now with the ball for Northwood. Guarded by Tommy Morgan sends it over to Sweeney in the corner, swings it over to the other corner. corner. North will dribble down the baseline. Pass to Parker Day in the block. Parker Day will dribble, spin, and shoot, and he cans the two-point jumper. That's what Parker Day is capable of. Hillsdale does not want to see him getting going here, so we'll see if they can shut him down the rest of this half. Buckman passes to Morgan. Morgan shoots his two-pointer and is fouled.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Tommy Morgan will go to the line that charges lead 20 to 18, 650 left in the first half, and that'll take us to another time out. We'll be back in 60 seconds. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Freehillsdale, 101.7 FM. Fox on Games, your insider's cheat code to gaming. Overwatch is on its way to mobile. Villains like the shapeshifting mystique will be involved. as well as longtime comic villain Omega Red. Other cameos from other X-Men have not been announced yet. Or Deadpool. Definitely no Deadpool. Maybe. Amen Dignam.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Fox News. Welcome back to Don to the spotter. Thean. I'm Gabe Theemar. I'm Mason Moulton. Your Hillsdale Chargers currently lead the Northwood Timberwolves 20 to 18, 650 left in the first half. Tommy Morgan is shooting free throws for the Chargers.
Starting point is 00:33:55 He's got two. The first one goes up. And is true. Tommy Morgan with the first free throw. Morgan scores from the stripe a second time. Chargers now lead 22 to 18. 648 left in the first half. Northwood does have Will Young back in the game with two fouls. If Hillsdale can get him to draw a third, that would be huge. Shamray passes too young. Young will take it down the baseline. Does not make his layup. rebounded by Hillsdale Paxton Gertz
Starting point is 00:34:38 dribbles into the zone cuts it open and Cairns the two-point jumper on the other end Eklund dribbles out of bounds but a foul is called Northwood likes to push in transition they're very athletic
Starting point is 00:34:57 so Hillsdale's going to need to have sound transition defense to stop Northwood Northwood Shamray finds Parker Day for an open two-point field goal Chargers lead 24 26 10 left in the first half. Janowski triples off a pick from Stonebreaker,
Starting point is 00:35:16 pulls up for two, is good. That was a great ball screen by Stonebreaker, and way to attack that from Janowski to get him in that 15-foot range where he's very comfortable. Sharon Wright takes the ball back up for Timberwolves, sends it over to number 14. Eklund for three is good.
Starting point is 00:35:37 I think that's Eklund's second three now. He's starting to get hot. Janowski now with the ball. the Chargers. Janowski dribbles passes to Tommy Morgan. Morgan in the wing. Passes back to Janowski, who dribbles between two defenders and passes down the baseline to Tommy Morgan. Ball goes out of bound zone. It will be Timberwolf basketball. That was the right look there from Janowski. Just tried to force it to Connor Stonebreaker. And Northwood got a hand on that.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Shamray takes the ball up court for Northwood. Shamray at the logo. Passes to the corner. That's Parker Day. In the corner, pump fakes, drives. Passes back out to Shamray. Shamray looks as Sweeney flashes in the post. Sets a pick.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Shamray for three. Swish. That ties it up in 26 here with five minutes left in Dantam's Potter Arena. Raylon Morris now passes the corner. over to a wide open stone breaker for two. That's a great pass out of the short corner by C.J. Yarian. Good find from him. Sweeney sets a screen for Shamray.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Shamray at the top of the key and a up and down is called. It'll be charger basketball. Oh, sorry, double dribble is called. Nonetheless, charge of basketball now. 28, 26 charges, 438 left in the. first half. Chargers have done a great job attacking this zone so far. They've gotten the high post. They've gotten the short corner and they've hit some three. So we'll see what Northwood does in response.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Stonebreaker at the elbow for the charges. Passed to Glazer the low post. It's fouled on his two-point shot. He will go to the line. Glazer's really good with his back to the basket and he went over that right shoulder again and drew the foul. So that was a great play by him. Glazer's been relatively quiet on offense this afternoon. Looking to see if he can get going more for the rest of this half. First shot from the free throw line is good
Starting point is 00:38:03 as he prepares to take his second shot. Glazer shoots, misses, rebounded by Northwood. Shamray takes the ball for the Northwood, passes over to Young, young at the wing, drives, and is fouled before he gets his shot off. So he will inbound over on their side of the court. Will Young trying to get going here in the first half. He's been relatively quiet, even though the Timberwolves leading score with 18 points per game.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Shamray finds Lewis in the corner passes over to Young. Young at the top of the key for the Timberwolves. Drives off a pick from Sweeney and is fouled on a layup attempt and he will go to the line. Really strong drive from Will Young. He can score at all three levels. He has really great, really deep range and can also get to the basket. So I was called on Caleb Glazer. Glazer doesn't argue with the ref, but looks over at his coach.
Starting point is 00:39:13 He says that he was getting his arm pulled down. And now coach is pleading his case with the ref. First free throw shot, however, is Immaculate. 29, 27 Hillsdale. 24's second free throw goes up and is good. Charging now up by one with four minutes left in the first half. McQuinnie passes to Morris. Morris at the logo passes back to McQuinnie at the wing.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Quini passes back to Morris, who drives into the zone defense, passes over to Stonebreaker. Stonebreaker from downtown. Does not go rebounded by Northwood. Shamray back for the Timberwolves. At the top of the key passes to number zero. Julian Lewis over to Young. Young's pass for Sweeney is batted up but caught
Starting point is 00:40:12 And Sweeney goes up for two and makes it That was a great find by Julian Lewis Hillsdale just got a mixed up in their transitions there Bequney passes to Morris Braylon Morris in the wing passes over Janowski Janski Janski from downtown in the corner is Green Janowski for three
Starting point is 00:40:34 Chargers lead 3230 3 minutes left in the first half Young drives to the elbow, pass it back out to the three-point line. Northwood passes to Sweeney in the block. Sweeney is foul trying to pass back out three-point line. That'll take us to another timeout.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Both teams now have six fouls. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. I'm Bill Hemmer, and these are the most impactful moments an American history. The man who had become the world's most wanted criminal, the leader of a ruthless and violent terrorist organization, a self-identified caliphate with a $25 million bounty on his head.
Starting point is 00:41:23 He was Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi. Baghdadi ruled from the playbook established by Zarqawi, using the same vicious tactics that raise and spread the presence of his jihadist group, known as ISIS, across the Middle East. Baghdadi was able to evade capture and detection for nearly a decade. That is, until October 26, 2019. Baghdaddy was surrounded by United States Special Operations Forces. Baghdaddy detonated a suicide vest, killing himself.
Starting point is 00:41:56 It was a significant display of the power and precision of U.S. intelligence in their fight in the war on terror. I'm Bill Hemmer, Fox News. Welcome back to Don Tibbettspotter Arena, everybody. I'm Gabe Theimar. I'm Mason Moulton. Your charge is currently leading. Northwood Timberwolves 32 to 30 with 256 left in the first half. Mason, what are you seeing so far?
Starting point is 00:42:19 Yeah, this is a really good matchup. The thing about both these offenses is they're very balanced. Northwood has four players averaging double digits, and Hillsdale has five players averaging over eight points per game. So everyone has a tough defensive matchup, and we've seen some elite defense from Hillsdale here, stopping some of the elite scores for the Timberwolves. Northwood will inbound on their side of the court.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Shamray sends the inbound pass over two. He finds Sweeney in the block. Sweeney backs down the Charger. Passes over to Parker Day. Ball goes right through Parker Day's hands. It will be Charger basketball. Yeah, Parker Day just hasn't gotten his rhythm yet. That ball just went right through his hands.
Starting point is 00:43:04 He'll get going here soon and get some shots falling. Janowski now with Hillsdale passes over to McQuinnie who lobs it up. And Bolte slams it down. Chargers 34, Timberwolves 30, 2.30 left in the first half. Young now with Northwood passes, or dribbles at the top of the key, passes over to the corner. Lewis from downtown, bricks hit off the backboard, rebounded by Sweeney. and a foul is called by two charges looking to force a jump ball. Hillsdale's doing a great job defending these ball screens by Northwood.
Starting point is 00:43:46 They're hard hedging and then getting backside rotation to tag that roller and then rotating out to three-point shooters if it's a kickout there. So Hillsdale is doing a great job defending these ball screens so far by the Timberwolves. Sweeney will shoot two free throws. Sweeney from the stripe. First shot goes up. Sorry. First shot.
Starting point is 00:44:10 An only shot does not go. It was a one-and-one. Per the bonus. Bolting out the ball. Over to Janowski, top of the key for the Chargers. Janowski drives, passes back out to Morris. Morris for three. Switches it.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Morris from downtown. Chargers lead 37 to 30. Two minutes left in the first half. The shots keep falling for Hillsdale, and that's just what they need to see today. Sweeney now with the ball for Northwood. Almost dribbles out of bounds, has to pass it out. Sweeney is found again, the corner from downtown. And knocks down the corner three.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Sweeney's a big guy, but he can shoot the three as well as we just saw there. We will go to a 30-second timeout, so we will stay with you here. Chargers up by 4, 37-33, 146 left in the first half. Will Young, who is on the bench with two fouls, just checked back in the game. A minute 46 left, so we'll see if he can spend the rest this half without picking up that third foul. One thing Hillsdale is very good at is good ball movement, finding good ways to make jumpers. One thing you haven't seen too often is the designed lob, which has landed twice now. Yeah, Hillsdale has done a great job.
Starting point is 00:45:35 As we noted, Northwood likes to extend that zone up. So there's a lot of open space down at that baseline. Sometimes those backline defenders don't notice those back cuts. And we've seen Volta do that twice so far. McQuinnie will take the ball up court for your chargers. Welcome back, everyone, to Don Tibbitts Potter Arena. I'm Gabe Thymar. I'm Mason-Multon.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Your charges are currently leading the Northwood Timberwolves, 42 to 35 at the end of the first half. as we prepare for the second half. Mason, what are your takeaways from the first half? Yeah, this is just about the best we've seen Hillsdale play all year. A really good first half from them. Very notably, they've executed their defensive game playing very well. Northwood's leading score, Will Young,
Starting point is 00:46:27 has held to two points so far, and he's 0 for 5 from the field. So Northwood's really going to look to get him going. Northwood's second leading score, Parker Young has 11 points, so he's playing very, very well and Hillsdale is going to continue to try to double team him to get the ball out of his hands. Now when Hillsdale does that double team, it's important and very tough to get backside
Starting point is 00:46:49 rotations to cover those shooters. Parker Day has really good vision, so he's going to try to get skip passes to the opposite side of the court and get his shooters open. We saw Jameson Eklund hit two threes early and he's quieted down a little bit, but he still has 10 points. Hillsdale's also done a really good job attacking Northwood's two three zone. They've got the ball on the baseline because Northwood's zone is very extended so they kind of lose sight of that baseline sometime. We saw
Starting point is 00:47:19 Hillsdale get it to Garrett Boltie for a couple Alleyoop dunks in that first half. And they've also done a great job getting it to the high post and hitting threes. The difference between the last game and this game
Starting point is 00:47:34 is in the first matchup between these teams. Cole McWenney was one for six for three and Braylon Morris was was one for seven. And now this game, Braylin Morris is three for three and McWenny is one for two. So they're hitting the three pointers, which is what they need to do to defeat Northwood's zone. So really good first half execution from the Hillsdale Chargers and we'll see if they can keep that rolling in the second half here. as we have the second half about to start. Chargers will open with possession.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Morris, inbound to McQuinnie. McQuinnit at the logo bounce pass to Janowski. Janowski Hux is back over. Tries to McQuinni, stolen by Young, and Young buries it inside the rim. That's not a good way to start the half of the Chargers. Turnovers have not been an issue so far this game, but they had 14 in their last matchup against Northwood.
Starting point is 00:48:34 So they're going to need to limit the turnovers in this second half. McQuinney now in the wing for the charges. Passes to Boltee back to McQuinney. McQuinney finds a wide open Janowski from the free throw line. Scores from the strike. That was a great ball movement from the charges there, finding Janowski where he is at his best in that 15-foot range. I love seeing them get Janowski in that high post there.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Chargers up by 7 minutes left in the first half. Young now with the ball. Passes over to Shamray. the logo back to Young in the wing over to Eklund in the corner. Corner deep two knocks it down for two point shot. Eklund's very good in the post. He squared up there and hit a 15-foot jump shot, and he's played really good so far today.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Stanski now with the ball for the charges passes over to McQuinnie. Ball is almost turned over, but recovered. Bolte now drives. Finds a wide open McQuinnie. McQuinnie dribble step back for three. Does not go rebounded by the Timberwolves. Shamray takes the ball back for Northwood. Shamray now in the wing.
Starting point is 00:49:37 Hands it off to Young over to Parker Day. Top of the key, back over to Lewis in the wing. Lewis will drive. Drivel in his back. Ball is stolen by Cole McQuinnie. Great on-ball defense there from the Chargers. They've really guarded the ball really well so far today. Janowski drives from the top of the key.
Starting point is 00:49:54 Passes back to McQuinnie. McQuiny finds a wide open. Braylon Morris. Braylon Morris from downtown. Knocks it down. That was a great flare screen there from Caleb Glazer to get Braeisor. Dylan Morris Open. He's four for four from downtown today. We'll see if he can continue hitting that three.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Young now at the top of the key for Northwood. Passes to the corner. That's Shamray. Shamry for three. Knocks it down as well. Chargers lead, 47, 42, 1750 left in the first half. Shannowski now with the logo passes to McQuinnie in the wing. McQuinnie will take it. Passes to Glazer in the corner. Glazer. unguarded drives to the layup and makes it. That's a great job by Glazer penetrating the gaps in that zone defense and a strong finish at the rim. Shamray now with the ball for Northwood. Shamray passes today over to Lewis.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Lewis guarded by Morris passes back to the top of the key. That's Eklund. Eklund will drive back back out of three-point line, top of the key. Pass of the Young drives on his own two-point layup goes up, kisses the class and goes in. Young gets his first field goal. of the game to fall and Hillsdale does not want to see him get hot so hopefully they can shut him down the rest of this half Boltie passes to the Quinny over to Braylin Morris who drives down the baseline puts an athletic two-point jumper up does not go rebounded by Northwood Shamray passes over to Parker Day in the wing Dave
Starting point is 00:51:30 almost finds Eklon at the block but he's fouled it'll remain Northwood basketball down on their side of the court Morris checks out. Tommy Morgan checks in. Chargers up by five with 1640 left in the first half. Second half. Day for three off the inbound pass. Does not go. Rebounded by Sweeney. Sweeney goes up on his own and makes the two-point field goal. Coquine takes the ball back for the Chargers passes over to Boltee. Over to Janowski, pulls up two-point jumper. Makes it. Chargers up by five, 16, 20 left in the second half. Shamray passes to Eklund, who drive. and puts an athletic two-point shot up. Looks a little Jordan-esque. Does not go, though.
Starting point is 00:52:24 Janowski gets the rebound, dribbles down, passes. Back to Morgan, over to Janowski. In the corner for three. Does not go. Rebounded by Caleb Glazer, he puts his own shot up. Does not go rebounded by Northwood. That was a great offense rebound by Caleb Glazer. In that zone defense, it's tough to block out,
Starting point is 00:52:41 so hopefully Hillsdale can get some more offense to rebounds throughout this half. Shamray passes to Young. Young will drive between two Chargers. And foul gets called on Garrett Boltee. Off the drive. Chargers leave 51-46, 1545 left in the second half. It'll be Timberwolf Ball. As we go to a timeout break, you're listening to Charger basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale,

Starting point is 00:54:25 Northwood, Timberwolves, 51-46, 1545 left in the second half. Shamray sends the inbound pass to Northwood over to Young. Young with the wing. Dumps it down to Eklund in the block, guarded by Stonebreaker. Eklund spins, double team. Passing back out to Sweeney for three. Sweeney for three does not go. And the foul is called as a charger and a Timberwolf.
Starting point is 00:54:46 both go up for the rebound. It'll be Charger basketball foul. It's called on Northwood. Hillsdale double-teamed Acklin in the post there, and he has really good vision. He found Sweeney for the three, but Hillsdale's closed out on him, caused him to miss that three.
Starting point is 00:55:06 McQueenie, Stonebreaker, Morgan, and Yerian, all in for the Chargers. Janowski now with the ball at the wing, drives on his own. dribbles down the baseline to the other corner, passing to McQuinnie at the three-point line, over to Yerian in the elbow. finds McQuinney for three.
Starting point is 00:55:21 McQuinney for three is good. That's a great pass by Yeran. He's the second leading assist. And for the Chargers, he has really good vision out of that high post there. Young now for Northwood has the ball at the top of the key. Drives dumps it off to Eklund. Eklund puts the layup up, kisses the glass.
Starting point is 00:55:41 It makes the shot. Eklund's really good around the rim. Very active. That's a great finish by him. Chargers lead 54-48, 1445 left in the second half. Janowski now with the ball
Starting point is 00:55:52 dribbles off his own foot and is turned over stolen by the Timberwolves. Eklund goes up for a layup, crosses over, makes the shot. That's two turnovers now for the Chargers
Starting point is 00:56:03 in this second half. They need to protect the ball against this aggressive two-three zone. McQueenie takes the ball back with the Chargers, passes to Morgan. Morgan takes the elbow,
Starting point is 00:56:13 finds the Arian down the low post. The Arian and a timber will fumble with the ball and it goes out of bounds where remains charger basketball. Checking in now for Hillsdale is number 23 Matt Buckman and number three, Brayland Morris, a pair of freshmen. Hillsdale to inbound on their side of the court. Morris sends the inbound pass over to McQuinnie in the corner.
Starting point is 00:56:42 McQuinnie finds Stonebreaker in the block. Stony goes up. Shot does not go rebounded by the chargers. McQuinnie now in the wing. Cole McQuiny, the senior on senior night. dribbles off the Yerian pick, drives, finds Yerian in the block, Yerian puts up a two-point jumper, knocks it down. Great two-man game between McQuinnie and Yerian there,
Starting point is 00:57:04 Yerian with a little 10-foot jumper getting it to fall. Parker Day now with the ball at the top of the key for the Timberwolves, passes over to number two. Smith, Smith hands it off to a teammate over Sweeney. Sweeney passes to the day in the corner. Day pick dribbles, Euro steps. And a foul is called as he goes up to shoot. Hillsdale sent that double team again to Parker Day,
Starting point is 00:57:35 just a little too aggressive and drew a foul there. Smith sends the inbound pass over to Parker Day who just tries to just tap it in. Almost as a lob, does not go. Paxton Gertz gets the rebound. It takes it down for the Chargers. Passes to Buckman. Buckman takes it to the elbow. finds Gertz over to Yerian, over to Buckman in the wing.
Starting point is 00:58:05 Buckman passes to Stonebreaker, who finds Gertz flying in for a slashing layoff. That's a great cut by Gertz there, and good vision from Stonebreaker out of the short corner to find him cutting down the lane. Chargers up 58, 50, 13 minutes left in the second half. Day now with the ball in the block for Northwood. Backs down to Charger, passes out the three-point line. Young for a deep three. does not go rebounded by the Chargers. Great defensive rotations by the Chargers after that double team on day.
Starting point is 00:58:37 And the Chargers are lucky that Will Young didn't get that three to fall. Stonebreaker now with the Chargers basketball at the wing. Looking for someone to pass to. Sends it over to Buckman, the other wing, down to the low post. Back over to Gertz. To Buckman at the top of the key. Buckman passes to Yerian. Over to Braylon Morris.
Starting point is 00:58:57 Morris pulls up at the elbow for two. Does not go. Looks like pass might have been intended. Initially, four Gertz, who was also screaming down towards the hoop. Sweeney now at the ball at the top of the key for Northwood sends it over to teammate.
Starting point is 00:59:15 Back to Sweeney now. Sweeney finds Smith at the top of the key. Passed Young at the wing will drive, spin, shoot from the elbow. Cannot finish the shot, though, rebounded by the chargers. Gertz takes the ball back past the year. Marion in the corner over to Stonebreaker who spins puts it up
Starting point is 00:59:36 Kiss the glass is good That's a great move from Stonebreaker there A little spin move in the middle of lane He's really good around the basket Smith takes has the ball now For Northwood at the logo Guarded by Gertz Passed to Parker Day
Starting point is 00:59:53 Day over to Sweeney Almost stolen by Stonebreaker Sweeney sends over to the corner Northwood for three Is Knocked down Andrew Smith for that three. He's usually pretty quiet. That was a big three for him.
Starting point is 01:00:09 Northwood needs a little momentum after a tough stretch there. We'll go to a timeout break now. We'll be back in 60 seconds. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Telling the stories of those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor. Here's Jinnah Suhita. On October 20th, 1951, near San San Juan, Korea,
Starting point is 01:00:31 Master Sergeant Woodrow Keeble was serving as a platoon leader when he saw that friendly elements had become pinned down on a slope by heavy enemy fire. With complete disregard for his own safety, he dashed forward and joined the pinned down platoon. Keeble crawled forward until he was in close proximity to one of the hostile machine gun emplacements. Ignoring heavy fire, Keeble took a grenade and destroyed the position. Continuing his one-man assault,
Starting point is 01:00:53 he destroyed the second enemy position with another grenade. Despite the fact that the enemy troops were now directing their firepower against him in full force and unleashing a shower of grenades and a frantic attempt to stop his advance, he moved forward against the third hostile emplacement and destroyed it. For the extraordinary courage, selfless service, and devotion to duty displayed that day, Master Sergeant Woodrow Keeble was awarded the Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome back everybody to Don Tibbitts Potter Arena. I'm Gabe Thiemar. I'm Mason Moulton
Starting point is 01:01:26 charge currently leading the Northwood Timberwolf 60 to 53, 11, 23 left in the first half. Mason Hillsdale's held a pretty consistent lead over Northwood most of this afternoon. What are your thoughts? Yeah, again, really good execution by Hillsdale. The big thing for Northwood is that Will Young, their leading score only has four points. He's averaging 18 to game, so we'll see if he can get in his rhythm or if Hillsdale's going to continue to shut him down this second half. Paxton Gertz takes ball up court for Northwood. Northwood coming out in a very stretched out two-three zone.
Starting point is 01:02:00 Brayland Morris passes over to Janowski. Janowski will drivel trapped by three defenders. Passes over to Bolte. Boltey over to Gertz in the corner. Gertz over to Yerzzi. Gertz over to Janowski from downtown. Janowski for three. Charges now up by 10 with just over 10 minutes left in the second half.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Parker Day now with the ball finds a wide open. Julian Lewis who makes a two-point field goal. Great pass there from Parker Day. to find the cutting Julian Lewis. Gertz passed over to Janowski, over to Bolsey, over to Morris, around the three-point line, over to Yerian in the corner. Yerian will find Bolsey down in the low post. Makes a big-time layup.
Starting point is 01:02:54 Northwood back on their side of the court. Parker Day passed over to Shamray. Shamray will drive, step back. Call for someone to cut across the baseline, and he will drive. and is fouled on his way to the basket. And we will go to another timeout, so we'll see you in another 60 seconds. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale, 1.1.7 FM. Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
Starting point is 01:03:31 I'm Lauren Smith, and today I'm going to talk about numbers. You might be thinking, I'm not a mathematician, but I assure you that you'll be forced to describe your heroine's 19 cats and 23 golden roses somewhere in your story. Or maybe you won't, but the question remains. Is 22 one word or two? What about 103? I'll be drawing from the Chicago Manual of Style. Rules vary by guide, but Chicago is a broadly useful standard.
Starting point is 01:03:56 There are three rules for writing numbers. Number one, hyphenate numbers like 94 and 63. Number two, write out all numbers below 100 as full words. Number three, for any numbers 100 or above, use numerals. If you get talking about something astronomically large, like 400 billion trillion gazillion, make a judgment call. Or better yet, use scientific notation. That's your grammar minute on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Welcome back, everybody, to Don Tippett's Podmer Arena.
Starting point is 01:04:34 You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.1.7 FM. Your charge is currently lead the Northwood temporal of 65 to 55, with 10 minutes and 8 seconds left in the second half. Shamray catch the endbound pass for Northwood. Pass to Parker Day over to Eklund, Eklund for three. Shot does not go, rebounded by the Chargers. Northwood really just hasn't been able to get much offense going so far this half. We'll see what they do to adjust that. Forrest now with the ball for the Chargers.
Starting point is 01:05:08 Passes over to Gertz. Gertz will pull up from the corner for two. Hillsdale's ball movement against the zone has been great so far. It's tough to cover those skip passes when you're in his own defense. Lewis now Julian Lewis passes over to Parker Day. Ball intended for Eklund is tipped, intercepted by Boltey who calls a timeout before he falls out of bounds. The entire charger bench is on their feet after that turnover. Yeah, that's just about as good as it gets defensively.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Boltee with the backside rotation to steal that pole speed. and then with a very high IQ play to call a 30 second timeout before falling out of bounds. And that really just defines how Hillsdale has played defensively all day so far. So we'll see if they can continue to shut down Northwood on offense. Charges now up by 12 with 9 minutes and 30 seconds left in the second half. Coach Bradley drawing up in offense, helping coach up him. his players. Don to the spotterina is rocking tonight on senior night. Shout out to our three seniors, Jacob Meyer, Cole McQuinney, and Ashton Janowski.
Starting point is 01:06:26 Looks like Northwood's coming out in a full court press. A one-two, a lot of times when they do this, they'll fall back into a man-to-man. We'll see if Hillsdale can handle the pressure here. Bolte sends the end-down pass over to Paxton Gertz, who passes back to Bolte. Bolte takes to cross-half court, passes over to Ashton-Ginowski, who takes it to the top of the key. Janowski sends it over to Caleb Glazer in the corner. Glazer guarded by Lewis is fouled. Sorry, the ball was knocked out of bounds. It will...
Starting point is 01:07:03 Some chargers check in. Morris and Gertz, the freshman out. Morgan and Janowski are in. It'll be charger basketball down on their side of the court. Janowski sends the inbound pass over to Cole McQuinnie. for three cannot knock it down it'll remain charge of basketball though
Starting point is 01:07:25 as Eklund tipped the ball out of bounds that's a great job by Caleb Glazier to fight for that offensive rebound he has three offensive rebounds so far and keeps this offensive possession alive for the Chargers Janowski over to McQuinney in the corner for three
Starting point is 01:07:40 for three great to see McWenny and Morris keep hitting those threes that's just what the Chargers needed today Targes up by 15 with 850 left in the second half. Parker Day tries to score a layup, but the ball goes over the backboard instead of into the rim.
Starting point is 01:07:59 It'll be Charger basketball. Yeah, Parker Day and Williung, just not looking like their normal selves offensively. Can't get too much to go. Northwood continues with this full court pressure to see if they can create some turnovers. McQuinnney trapped by two Northwood defenders, passes it over to Matt Buckman.
Starting point is 01:08:17 Buckman. Bounce passes over to Garrett. Boltee, boltie at the elbow now. Dribbles back out of the three-point line. Passes over to McQuinney, McQuinnie. Sends it to Morgan. Morgan from the Stripe is immaculate. Chargers now lead 72 to 55.
Starting point is 01:08:34 818 left in the second half. Shannon right now with the Timberwolves basketball, drives on his own, puts a layup up, does not go, rebounded by the Chargers. The Chargers have been scoring out will against this zone defense. We'll see if Northwood gets into man-to-man to finish out this second half. Cole McWinney is fouled, dribbling down the half court line. And we will go to another timeout. Your chargers lead 72 to 55, eight minutes left in the second half.
Starting point is 01:09:10 You're listening to Charger basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. This is The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group. Welcome back to everybody to Don Tippett's Potter Arena. I'm Gabe Thiemar. I'm Mason Moulton. Charge is currently leading the Northwood Timberwell 72 to 55, 8 minutes. left in the second half.
Starting point is 01:10:28 Mason, how can Hillsdale hold on to this leave? Yeah, last game against Finley, we saw the Chargers struggle with a lot of ball pressure, so the Chargers need to protect the basketball and hold on this lead for the last eight minutes. Bolty now with the ball for the Chargers pass. It's headed for Morgan. Ball goes on the ground. Yeah, after saying that, the Chargers turn it over there, and they can't have that if they want to protect this lead. Last game against Finnerly at 20 turnovers, so they're going to need to protect this ball to finish out this game.
Starting point is 01:11:03 Smith takes the ball up court for Northwood. Smith passes over to Eklund, over to Smith, over to a Northwood player who will drive. Spin, shoot. Can't finish with the two-point jumper, though, rebounded by the Chargers. McQuinney now with the ball back for Hillsdale, passes over to Matt Buckman. Buckman back to McQuinnie. over to Morgan. Tommy Morgan will pass to Caleb Glazer in the corner.
Starting point is 01:11:34 Glazer will drive into the paint. Spin, go up. Cannot finish the shot, though, rebounded by Northwood. Young takes the ball back for Northwood. Turns it over, dribbles right into the hands of Garrett Bolte. McQuinnie will take the ball back for the Chargers. No look past to Garrett Bolte from the free throw line scores from the Stripe. Cannot finish a shot, though, rebounded by originally rethought.
Starting point is 01:12:03 to be rebounded by Caleb Glazer. The ball goes flying out of bounds, and it will remain Hillsdale basketball down on their side of the court. Caleb Glazer's been very active down low, fighting for offensive rebounds, which has been huge for the Chargers. Northwood's going to look to push offensively, so the Chargers are going to need to be ready to get back
Starting point is 01:12:22 and transition defense to stop Northwood pushing the ball. Chargers will lead 72-55, 6-50 left in the second half. Bolt to catch the inbound pass. It goes up, but it's blocked. fouled, he'll go to the free throw line. Yeah, simple play from the Chargers there, just pick the picker, but Northwood's struggling to defend
Starting point is 01:12:41 right now in the second half. Bolty preparing to shoot his two free throw. First one goes up. Does not go in. Hillsdale fighting for a chance to make the GMAC tournament with a win this afternoon. Second shot goes up. Does not go in.
Starting point is 01:13:10 Rebounded by Glazer, but they call and up an overfowl. It'll be Timberwolf basketball. Note that Will Young is not on the court right now for the Timberwolves. He's their leading score but just hasn't got it going yet today offensively.
Starting point is 01:13:26 Shamaray takes ball up court. Four Northwood passes over to Parker Day. Parker Day will drive, spin, shoot, draw a foul, and one Parker Day. Almost James Hardinie how he did that. Pump fake to get Caleb Blazer jumping and then jumped in do him to make his shot.
Starting point is 01:13:44 Kind of foul baiting right there. Yeah, that was good defense by Glazer, but just better offense by Day. He's elite in that 15-foot area and hits the fade away to get the And-1. Geary and Stonebreaker and Moors check-in. Buckman, Boltie, and Glazer check-out. Parker Day set to shoot an and-one free throw.
Starting point is 01:14:10 Day cannot knock it down. Rebounded by Sweeney, however. He sends it back today. Day will take it into the paint, drive, spin, skyhook cannot make the sky hook, and it will be Charger Basketball after a foul is called as several players dive for the rebound. Northwood's going to continue this full court pressure and try to create some turnovers, so we'll see how Hillsdale's guards can handle this. Tannowski takes the ball off the inbound pass for Hillsdale, casts it over to Stonebill.
Starting point is 01:14:45 passes it over to Stonebreaker. Stonebreaker over to Morris. Morris has a wall at the wing, passed to McQuinnie. McWhorstead to C.J.J. Yerian, over to Janowski. He dribbles down the baseline. Over to McQuinnie.
Starting point is 01:15:01 McQuinnie, pump fake, down the baseline. All the way to the other corner. Pulls up for three. Knocks it down. That was an elite three-point shot from McQuinney. dribb it all the way across the baseline, and it had a fade away three in the corner. Shamray with the ball, top of the key.
Starting point is 01:15:19 Four Northwood said it over to day. Over to Smith. Smith sends it over to Shamry Shamry for three cannot make it rebounded by the Chargers they lead 7557
Starting point is 01:15:30 530 left in the second half Morris now with the ball taking it down the baseline for the Chargers sends it over to McQuinnie McQuinnie in the wing double team now sending over Stonebreaker Stonebreaker spins finds McQuinnie
Starting point is 01:15:44 McQuinnie from downtown can't knock it down though rebounded by the Timberwolves Sweeney sends it over to Shamray, Shamray in the wing now. Guarded by Morris, sends it over to Sweeney, Sweeney for three. Cannot make it, rebounded by the Chargers. Northwood really can't get anything going offensively right now.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Hillsdale needs to protect the ball and keep attacking this zone. Janowski drives forward, pulls up for about a 15-foot jumper, cannot make it. Rebounded by the Tiberwolf. Sweeney now at the top of the key. He sends it over to Smith. Smith sends it back to on a swing on a give and go. Stolen by C.J. Yarian. Great backside rotation from Yerian to steal that post pass. Timberwold is still in this zone.
Starting point is 01:16:36 We'll see if they can create any turnovers to get something going on offense. Janowski pulls up for a 15-foot jumper, who ends up passing it. A second pass ends up getting stolen by Sweeney. And the Timberwolf Shamray will take it down coast to coast and make the layup. Chargers lead 75-59, four minutes left in the second half as we go to a timeout. You're listening to Charger Basketball here on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. Starting point is 01:17:08 Today we'll be taking a trip to one of the most famous cities in the world. New York, New York. Its origins start back in 1624 when a group of Dutch colonists settled on Manhattan Island, founding what came to be known as New Amsterdam, When the British gained control of the area in 1664, King Charles I gave the lance to his brother, the Duke of York, temporarily changing the city's name to New York. This became its permanent title in 1674, a full century before the founding of the United States. Another nickname you may have heard for the city is The Big Apple.
Starting point is 01:17:39 This was popularized in the 1920s by horse racing journalist John J. Fitzgerald. Jazz musicians also started using the term further spreading the name in the late 1920s and 30s. It slowly died out but was brought back in tourist campaigns in the 1970s, solidifying its place as the Big Apple. This is what's in a name. Yep, that last position, Chargers turned the ball over and couldn't stop Shamray in transition. So they've got to protect the ball here in the last four minutes of this game. Morris passed Stonebreaker over to McQuinnie at the logo. McQueenie guarded tightly by Shamray. McQuinnney picks up his dribble, sends it over.
Starting point is 01:18:51 Over to Earian, over to Stonebreaker, over to Janowski. Janowski, pump fakes the three, sends it over to the Quinney. The Quiney down to Stonebreaker, the low post, backs down a defender, spins, fade away shot, and the jumper goes in. Great ball movement and post-move by Stonebreaker. Really good offense from the Chargers. Shamray with the ball now for the Timberwolves, triples off the screen from Sweeney.

And because of the eight fouls, Eklund will now shoot a bonus free throw. Stonebreaker checks out. Boltie checks out. Pultes free throw. First one goes in. Parker Day checks in for Sweeney.
