My name is Mark Ayers, co-hosts, of the show The Four-Man Front, where we usually talk about college football and nothing else. Not today. Today, it is all basketball, all court, all hardwood. And I'm joined here while my fellow co-host and fellow ball knower, Patrick Hamilton. Patrick, how are we doing today? Mark, it is a beautiful day here in southern Michigan. Hillsdale College, looking to impress the home crowd. Can't wait to get this game underway.

That's right. We have an exciting matchup today. The Hillsdale College Chargers versus the Ohio Christian Trailblazers. This is an exhibition game. It will not count on the final scorecard. But interesting test of skill nonetheless. Patrick, what are some highlights we should look at for this game? Give me some impact players.

So to start off, we're going to look at the away team, the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers. Currently 5 and 1 on the season. However, what they lost in their last exhibition game, standout player will be starter number three, Parker Penrod. He's averaging 15 and a half points for game, two rebounds, two assist, and two. steals. In addition to that, you have senior DJ Bogay looking to also be an impact player

having 11 points of his own per game. For the Chargers, we're going to look at sophomore Connor Stonebreaker. He is right now in the top 10 in the GMAC and points per game, rebounds per game, and field goal percentage while coming off the bench. We're hoping to see that he can replicate this type of success in today's game. While it is an exhibition game, this game will be a true testament to the Hillsdale College Chargers. That's right. That's right. So we are currently waiting, folks. We are watching as the Hillsdale College starting lineup gets ready to run onto the field.

We're going to call them out for you right here. Great environment today. Stands are about halfway filled. We have a good student section going on. Looking to be a good environment for today's game. Number two, the guard standing at 6-2-190, the senior from Pawaki, Wisconsin. Ashton Janowski. At number 11, the guard standing at 6-2-195, the redshirt senior from Toledo, Ohio.

It's Cole McWunney for the charges. Number 22, the guard slash forward, standing at 6-5-185. Redshirt freshman from Brunswick, Ohio. It's Tommy Morgan. Looking to make an impact. there on the wing. Number 24, forward, standing out 6-6-220, the red shirt junior from Chicago, Illinois. It's Garrett Boltee. That is your charger starting five. Teams are on the field.

Standing at midcourt, we have number 23 for Ohio Christian. That's Landon Brewer, standing at 6'4. He's a sophomore from Antwerp, Ohio. We have number 14, Caleb Schmelser, standing at 6'8, sophomore from Rushfield, Ohio. We'll see if that height makes a difference for the Trailblazers. Number 11, DJ Bugay, the senior from Omaha, Nebraska. And number three, Parker Penrod,

Standing at 5'10, he's the sophomore from Troy, Ohio. That's your starting lineup for the Ohio Christian University, Trey Blazers Men's Basketball Team, and we are about to see TIP Off. Chargers secure the tip-off, number 11. That's Cole McWenning, standing at the top of the key. Going through his screen, he loses the ball, he regains control. Off to number 22, Tommy Morgan. Top of the key.

Number three, Parker Penrod at the top of the key. He's got Caleb Schmelser on the outside. Ohio Dominican, working outside. Can't get anything in. Passing it out. Penrod again. Chargers. Oh, fighting for the ball on the court.

They're on the ground. Caleb Schmelser picks it up. And just before the possession clock runs out, Parker Penrod puts up a big three for Ohio Dominican. Here's number two, Ashton Janowski, passing it inside the area, and he gets a layup. Good passing there by the Chargers. Parker Penrod bringing it up for the Trailblazers,

slowly working up to the top of the key. Passing it out to Rammell. Gail Rammel, one of those big men. Parker Penrod yet again, looking for an inside cut. He gets the pass. Schmelser puts up a shot, does not get it, but he's found. He's going to get two free throws off of that one. Pretty quick start to this game, Patrick.

Yeah, it's a great start. I love to see the aggression. Hillsdale, great shots. I mean, they are finding the open guy. They're just not shooting. They're passing well, cutting. Aggression, too. You saw number 11, Cole McWinney diving.

on the ground to get that ball wasn't able to get it but forced a really tough shot for number three Parker Penrod to take a deep shot almost at the logo in order to beat the possession clock that's right you can capitalize on that stop then this game I mean right now sitting 8 to 5 1555 left in the first half chargers are up you just got to continue to make those stops that's what we're going to see continue to see people pushing the ball moving the ball love to see the transition love to see the young guys getting in yeah that's right we started off with 22 Tommy Morgan he's a he's a hybrid garden forward sitting at 6 5185 he's a little bit taller than your average pure guard they subbed him out early for braylam morris of true freshman sitting at 62180

he's a pure guard you wonder if hillsdale's if those chargers are looking to get a little more speed a little more action into the passing game. Maybe Morris can bring some spark into this offense, but so far they have done well. They have done well. Cole McWenny is out after this short break.

Paxton Goertz, the guard standing at 6-1-175. Another freshman from Marseille, Illinois. He's in now, along with Caleb Glazer, the junior, sitting at 6-8-215.

Working against Stone, working to get inside, putting it up again. Oh, he misses under severe pressure from the Trailblazers, not able to get anything. And here's looking inside to get Boni Stone, they missed the pass. Pass goes wide. Ohio Dominican gets it, swings it out to number three, Parker Penrod, and he puts up a big three for the Trailblazers. Great ball movement, great recovery there by Ohio Dominican. Ohio Dominican is now up 12 to 8 yeah defensively Ashton Janowski was almost able to make that steal but then inevitably Parker Penrod hitting an open elbow shot from three listen something you don't like to see

from the chargers early on is that their big men are just not able to finish the ball that it's just back to back moves that Caleb Glazer has had in which he's heavily covered and he's taking a very contested shot off balance. He's falling. He's got multiple guys collapsing on him in the paint. He needs to be able to have that maturity to pass it out,

find one of his open guys because you've got a lot of good scores. So hopefully that the chargers can fix up on these mistakes as we continue playing. Connor Stonebreaker passing it into Paxton Gertz. We get back to the action. Birx out to Morris. Ashton Janowski now working up to the top of the key, passing it back to Gertz on the other side. Braylon Morris, once again, working through the trap. Man open, not able to get it to him. Paxton Gers, working around the key. Hillsdale with a lot of passing on the outside. Stonebreaker puts up a big inside shot. Seems like Hillsdale's game plan seems to be working around the outside, passing it in, getting those shots in the paint. It is working for them.

Great, athleticism showing them. Absolutely love to see the charges continuing to apply pressure on this Ohio defense. You're getting wide open shots, Stonebreaker, making an impact early on in this game, tying the game out 12-12. Connor McWinney back in the game, passing it out to C.J. Yerian. of finding the mismatches and doing a lot of switching in order to do sort of this ISO ball that they're really trying to play aggressive, one-on-one, open up the side. Unlike what Hillsdale's doing, really getting everyone involved. Everyone is just applying pressure, getting inside the paint, getting a great shot. You love to see the freshman getting in. Schmelser has nothing, he does not get the ball. And there's a rebound by Ohio Dominican.

After a dog fight for the ball, Ohio Dominican, excuse me, Ohio Christian, gets the rebound gets it up two more points it's now 1921 Tommy Morgan trying to work inside that's going to be a foul call

against number four Dylan Joy Chargers will have the ball Hillsdale again defensively they need to be able to complete defensive possessions. They are making great plays. They are continuing to cause these stops,

but they're unable to either hold onto the rebound or able to hold onto a steal. That is where Ohio Christian right now, that's where they're capitalizing. A lot of their points are coming off second and third attempts, and they're able to get the rebound. And here's the thing is that the chargers,

they're going back on offense, while they've got a guy still battling for the rebound defensively, so Yeah, you really want to see the Chargers crash the board more and you're right, Patrick, several times now we've seen the Chargers nearly secure a steel or nearly secure a turnover

and then they just cannot get it. Ohio Christian gets the ball bag, they're putting up points. This game is much closer than it has to be. Right now, if you just take away two, maybe three of those possessions in which you're able to capitalize on a steel or a defensive rebound, you're looking

at a much bigger spread. currently going in hillsdale ball is 21 to 19 just over seven minutes left to play we'll see if hillsdale's head coach ron miller can make any changes after that short time out hillsdale has the ball passing it in as number four paxton gertz gertz passing it out to glazer at the key genowski still in the game at the top of the key trying to work has nothing gertz trying to get around to the baseline does not have it Janowski taking a free throw. If we look at their first half shooting, they've only taken six threes this whole game, hitting two. But then also two, they're dominating right now, shooting 52% in the field goals. but they're able to get to the line.

They have great free throw shooters shooting 100% to what Ohio is shooting at 75%. Again, this is just a very good game. Two very aggressive defenses and offenses. I think that right now, the Hillsdale, they're dominating. Like I said, I want to go back. They're dominating the off ball.

Continue to do that. And they'll be able to win this game. Well, and take a look at this. Hillsdale has a much better point spread. They're willing to pass it around to many people. Thus, the city of Phoenix was born and officially put on the record on May 4th, 1868, now the capital of Arizona, and the fifth most populous city in the United States, its name fittingly pays tribute to both the spirit of Pioneer America and the people of ages past. Preston was diagnosed with a rare brain condition that has contributed to so many visits to the children's health care of Atlanta. But the smile on his face said it all when Spencer

Strider joined him in the hospital room after his surgery. Preston's family says the visit meant the world to him and is giving him strength as he faces the long recovery ahead. And that's where they're succeeding right now, and that's what they're going to continue to do. Right now, Hillsdale, being able to extend this lead, 64 to 58, it's still a close game.

Like we said, it's going to be a good game, a hard fought, aggressive game throughout this second half. And I think we'll see a really exciting finish this game. I think so. Any electric finish in the clutch moments. Shemelzer was not able to get the fade away. The shot he's made all game long, but due to fantastic double coverage by Hillsdale,

a great adjustment. They were able to get his hands in the face. Couldn't make the shot. That gave Janowski, a man who's played almost this entire game, that senior from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. he got the ball was able to make that elbow shot
