The charger basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM starts now. Hello and welcome to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.2.7 FM. WRFM. They're here in Tom. in Don to the Potter Arena. The Hillsdale Chargers are taking on the Ohio Dominican Panthers.

I'm Daniel Daringowski. And I'm doing color. I'm Caleb. What do you expect to see here today in this exciting game? Well, like I said, I'm very excited to be back in the booth for some GMAC action. Well, this will be very interesting. You know, you've got Ohio Dominican coming in. They are averaging on defense.

Only 67 points allowed. That's the second best in the G-MAC, and the Chargers are coming off of a great performance on Thursday against Tiffin, where they shot the ball very well. They never trailed against Tiffin after the 1827 mark of the first half, and they led by double digits for almost all of the second half, until a couple of late three-pointers allowed Tiffin to close the lead to eight, with the game out of reach in the closing seconds.

Hillsdale stifled the Dragons offensively, holding Tiffin to just 41.8% shooting from the floor, in five of seven from three-point range while giving up just 22 first-half points. That defensive showing gave Hillsdale Space to methodically build his lead, going up 23 to 12 with six and a half minutes to play in the first half and never looking back. Look to see more of this balanced offensive attack from the Chargers. Last week, Connor Stonebreaker, making his first ever start, led the way with 14 points, and was one of five Chargers players in double figures.

Caleb Glazer added 11 points, five rebounds and two steals. Cole McWinney chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. And Tommy Morgan added 10 points and a team leading six assists for the Chargers as well. So look for them to spread the ball around, find some of their playmakers. Like freshman Braylon Morris, who added 10 points for them last week. He shoots the three ball well. And of course you've got the veteran Ashton Janowski senior returning this year. So look to see those guys get involved and hopefully stifle some of this offensive attack.

I'd be interested to see here what he does with it. Obviously, against this Panthers defense that is second in the GMAC, hopefully they can open up the scoring out wide. We know he can shoot the three ball. And then inside there you have the veteran Janowski. So getting these players involved early, just like we expected. But so far, the Panthers defense holding strong. We need to inbound. Check out to Caleb Glazer. Janikowski, Jekowski, a short shot off the rim. And just bring it up.

Today we'll be talking about a city named after perhaps one of the coolest people in American history, Houston, Texas. Founded on August 30th, 1836 by land investors, the city gets its name from the general and politician Sam Houston. Houston led Texas to independence from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto, just 25 miles from the future site of Houston, Texas, and taking place months before the city's founding. The city served as the capital of the Republic of Texas, which existed from March 2, 1836 to February 19, 1846, before it became the 28th state. Houston, the man, served as the president of the Republic of Texas for most of its existence

and was one of the inaugural senators representing Texas after it became a state. He is a long and impressive military career and was a respected politician. It seems fitting that there should be a major city named after someone as influential and impressive as Sam Houston. The Hillsdale Chargers are leading the Ohio Dominican Panthers, 5 to 2 with 16 minutes left in the first half. Caleb, so far more of a defensive battle. I mean, we expected this.

Ohio Dominican is definitely solid on defense. Chargers last weekend, sorry, this past Thursday against Tiffin, shooting around 40% from three and on field goals. Right now, not getting a lot of the buckets to go. so hopefully they'll be looking to improve the shooting as this game progresses. Checking in for the Hillsdale Chargers, number 24, Garrett Boltey. Number 22, Tommy Morgan. Morgan with the ball at the top of the paint.

We kind of expected a bit of a defensive struggle so far, 5'5, 13 minutes to go in this first half. I guess we'll have to just wait and see if either of these teams can open up the scoring. All right. Hillsdale Church have called a timeout. This would be a one minute timeout. The Dean's List with Janice Dean. An off-duty firefighter from Louisiana makes the Dean's list for pulling a woman from a burning car before it burst into flames. Andrew Nixon was driving home from a wedding with his fiance when he saw the car crash between a vehicle and an 18-wheeler. Not only that, but the car's tires were on fire. He saw that someone was trapped inside the vehicle, so he pulled over and ran out to see if he could help. Andrew used his bare hands to smash the windshield and injured himself in the process, but knew he only had a few minutes to get the woman out. He says somehow by the grace of God he was able to get in and lift her out before the car was completely

engulfed in flames. Firefighters arrived on scene and the fire chief says without Andrew, the woman would not have survived. She was airlifted to the hospital and although firefighter Nixon's hands were cut and bruised, he says it was all worthwhile. Janisteen, Fox News. Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.1.7 WRFM. So far, Hillsdale, not shooting the ball particularly low like they were last Thursday against Tiffin. Hopefully they can get some better looks and some penetration in the paint. Sometimes you need a couple easy layups, string together a couple baskets, get some momentum hopefully before half against this stifling,

Nice run by Boltey under the basket. And a good job of Yarian by finding the pass. Hopefully they can string together a couple more shots like that. And quite frankly, not shooting the ball, great. would like to get a couple looks, maybe get fresh one Braylon Morris open on the wing, knocked down a couple threes. We saw him hit one earlier from relatively deep. So just settle down, find some easy baskets, and try and chip away at this lead here.

And for Ohio Dominican, I mean, key of the game, keep up this strong defense and stay out of foul trouble. The 32 Elijah Hinton of the Panthers at the foul line, shooting two. First one, good. As McWinney, it looks like, is back in the game. Glazer first one free throw? Makes it. That's the lead to 15 as Ohio Dominican inbound the ball. Hillsdale with the press. Press is broken down, penetrating. And the 31, Johnrad makes a shot on the layup. It is off with his shot.

Chargers rebound the ball. McQuinnie brings the ball up. It's a screen over to Morris. Morris penetrates. Reverse layup. And no good seemed to bounce off the rim. Ball is tipped out of balance by the Panthers. Charger ball.

Caleb, what are your thoughts? Well, I mean, we're seeing why Ohio Dominican is the second best defensive team in the GMAC pulling the chargers to just 23 points in this first half. Chargers also not shooting the ball well. They were around 40% from three last week. Definitely not close to that in this first half. They'll be looking to string together a couple more points because it seems like Ohio Dominican is going into the half with the momentum. We'll see what Chargers head coach Kevin Bradley tells them in the locker room as we will send it out.

Well, they're playing, staying alive over the speakers here. Chargers,

they're just barely hanging in this one. They're barely staying alive. What I've really seen is them getting punished on the fast break. A lot of wayward passes, a lot of turnovers on the charger side, and the Panthers are really taking advantage of that. They've got a lot of speed and that

transition. I definitely noticed number two, Kenny Scott, number three, Terence Broughton, for The Panthers, bring the ball up, getting some nice shots in transition, and that's where they've really been hurting the Chargers. Chargers also not shooting very well from three. As I mentioned earlier, they were around 40% from field goals and threes on Thursday against Tiffin shot fairly well.

Today, not the same story. However, they had this second half. They had time to regroup at halftime. Hopefully they can get some better looks. I'd like to see them get the big men involved more. I'm looking at number 30, Connor Stonebreaker, 6'7, C.J. Yarian, 6'10. Maybe get a couple easy buckets break some of this momentum that the Panthers have. But at the end of the day, it really just comes down to execution, getting the passes, getting some of these buckets to go. It had a lot in and out,

a couple off the rim, you know, and some of that is just unfortunate. But, you know, in order to rally back, they got to play their best, they got to find their playmakers, and at the end of day you just got to make buckets. Win the game, got to win the game. So we'll see if they can stay alive in this second half. Down 15, Daniel. Yeah, the standard is most definitely not the standard here. Hillsdale looking for their eighth conference win.

Both these teams are hanging around the middle, trying to be one of the 18s that make G-Mac playoff. All right, we've got two minutes left. your halftime break. Caleb, going back on some of the key contributors in this game, who do you want to see from Hillsdale to expand their role in this game for the Chargers to claw back in this 15-point deficit? That's a great point.

I mentioned the big men. You've got C.J. Yari and number 31, 6'10. I'd love to see them get him the ball in the paint, maybe get a couple layups. Connor Stonebreaker had a great game against Tiffin, 14 points. Been a little more quiet tonight. And then obviously number three, the freshman, Braylon Morris. We've seen him make some electric plays.

We love him up here in the booth. And he can shoot the three ball well. So I would love to see them get a couple more wide open looks for him and really chip away at this deficit. Hillsdale coming into this contest with a record of 9 and 12 after beating Tiffin. 6 and 7 in the GMAC. And obviously they're fighting for positioning for that GMA tournament that will be happening later on.

Ohio Dominican as well. Coming into this season, definitely one of the surprising contenders for the GMAX. They had a recent slump. However, the Panthers are still in great shape to make the GMAC tournament for the first time in six years. So, again, we'll just have to see if they can hold on. We've mentioned it before. I will say it again, second best defense in the GMAC. while averaging 67 points allowed.

So, yeah, I know, 6-7. So we'll see here if Hillsdale can, you know, light a fire and cut into this deficit against what is, quite frankly, being this suffocating defense from the Panthers. 30 seconds left till half. If you've got to play up how terrible your day was, try substituting an interesting evocative adjectives, such as My Day was ghastly, or I am woeful. fully far behind. That's your grammar minute. Stends the lead to 57-37, 20-point deficit. as Goodman is subbed out. Right now, Hillsdale with 13 minutes left in the second half, needs to find the spark.

McQueenie brings them up over to Gertz, over the Stonebreaker, top of the key. He moves right. Back to McQuinnie. McQuinn to Yarian gets a screen from Yarian. McQueen to Yarian back again, gets a foul on the shot. Daryon will be shooting two.

Again, nice to see them getting the ball to the big men in the paint. You'd love to see that go for Nand 1, but nice job. by Yarian drawing the foul. He'll be shooting two. Both teams with five fouls with 12 minutes left. Caleb, are they both in foul trouble you think right about now? I mean, especially for Hillsdale, let's see, this free throw is made by Yerian.

I mean, Hillsdale, especially being down, they're going to be looking to conserve as much clock as possible. So having five fouls already does make that difficult because you start fouling them, they get into bonus territory and they can really hurt you on the free throw. So definitely something to keep an eye on. with just over 12 minutes left to go in this second half. Yaron with the second makes it.

101.7 FM. Today, we'll be talking about a city named after perhaps one of the coolest people in American history, Houston, Texas. Founded on August 30th, 1836 by land investors, the city gets its name from the general and politician Sam Houston. Houston led Texas to independence from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto, just 25 miles from the future site of Houston, Texas, and taking place months before the city's founding. The city served as the capital of the Republic of Texas, which existed from March 2nd, 1836 to February 19th, 1846, before it became the 28th state. Houston, the man, served as the president of the Republic of Texas for most of its existence,

and was one of the inaugural senators representing Texas after it became a state. He is a long and impressive military career and was a respected politician. It seems fitting that there should be a major city named after someone as influential and impressive as Sam Houston. Yari and Caleb Glazer in the paint. Unfortunately haven't scored as much on those so

I'd like to see them clean up the execution. Chip away at this lead with 12 minutes to go in the second half. Panthers to inbound. Checked out to Karen Broughton. Hillsdale with the press. Brings ball up to court. Passed to Carson Seaman. They're wide open Derek Goodman

from three ball. No good. Rebounded by the Panthers. Ball is blocked. Man. It winds up in the net. But again, you see that speed opening up wide-open men on the lings, allowing the Panthers to get those shots uncontested. McGuini, top of the key, checked over to Janowski. Nowski with a mid-range three, fouled and one. Good play there by the veteran senior Janowski.

He'll be shooting a free throw. Hillsdale down 60 to 41. Both teams now with 16 fouls with 11-29 left to. in the game. Janowski for his bonus free throw. He'll still, you'd like to see them get on those boards, crash the boards, get the ball and they're going to need as many possessions as possible as this clock coins down in the second half. Don't have a lot of fouls to give before you send the Panthers into bonus. So you'd like to get turnovers as much as possible and have a couple of possessions where you stop the Panthers from scoring and you score, you know, your own. So I'll have to see coming out of this time out, if they make some adjustments. But it's going to be close with 10 minutes, 40 seconds to go in this second half, down 19.

Well, with seven and a half minutes to go here, Chargers have turned on the heat. Cole McWinney with successive three-pointers. You'd love to see them shooting the three ball a lot better.

Hopefully they can continue to do that. Lead, again, is at eight points. However, Ohio Dominican in transition, still getting buckets, and they're working to control this clock here. Hillsdale with eight team fouls. Ohio Dominican with seven, both teams in the bonus. Something to look out for as we, you know, approach this final stretch of the game.

As the Hillsdale pet band tries to pep up this crowd, pep up this team, We'll see if they can get some momentum, turn this thing around, and pull out a win here against a tough Panthers team. Cole McWinney had a crucial pair a couple minutes ago, cutting the lead down to one at a game that looked all but over. We've got a ball game, folks. We'll see how these last three minutes go, but I, for one, am very excited as we get back to some G-MAC action.
