Crowd is roaring. It's a sold-out game here.
Takes the three.
It's outside to Tavon.
Tavon takes the three.
Got that one.
Back-to-back three is for the Chargers.
Still Charger basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM starts now.
Really, really good game.
What do you got to talk about?
What are the keys for Hillsdale's victory today?
I think the keys for Hillsdale, you know, we're known for our three points, our three-pointers.
So, you know, hit those shots and then play defense against a very athletic Saginaw Valley team.
Yeah, and Saginaw Valley plays a lot faster than Hillsdale does.
They score more points.
They get more steals, but they turn the ball over a lot more.
So I think a big key for Hillsdale will be slowing the game down a lot, you know.
Control the ball.
Control the ball.
So your starters, projected starters for today's game for the Hillsdale Chargers are Ashton-Ginowski, Charles Woodhams.
Number 14, Mikey McCollum, number 31.
one CJ Yerian and number 33 Joe Ruder. Joe Ruder really is, has been the star of Hillsdale
Men's basketball for the last year at least. Yeah, he has. One freshman of the year, his freshman
year, G. Mack freshman of the year, and he's been a star. How many points did he average last year?
33.4 points per game? 33.4 points per game. I mean, that's incredible. Yeah. So definitely if
Saginaw Valley has any chance of winning, they're going to want to lock up Joe Ruder.
And Charles Woodham's is pretty good, too.
He averaged 32 a game last year.
So having him behind Joe is big.
Some more scoring.
Hillsdale graduated only one senior last year, San Vasu.
Bringing back the entire rest of the team,
San Vasu was kind of a role player, a starter, but didn't play the entire game.
Not a high point scorer, but just had a lot of steals.
So they have one freshman to replace him, and that is,
Tommy Morgan out of Brunswick, Ohio.
So one freshman you bring in and only graduate one senior,
but the rest of the team is pretty much that same exact team that came in either
second or third place in the GMAC last year.
So a lot of high hopes here for the Chargers.
Projected to be second in the conference this year,
but I think they're hoping to win the conference this year.
Yeah, I think they can do it.
Saginaw Valley, split with Hillsdale last year.
They played each other last year.
They have a lot of new players.
Only really three returning key players, and that's Freddie McIntosh, Kvon Taylor, and Tootles Seal.
So a fairly young team for Saginaw who was 14 and 15 last year, and I don't believe they made the playoffs.
On the other hand, the Chargers, a lot of experience on their hands.
So look out for a good game today is we're going to go to a short break.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
And welcome back to Hillsdale, Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
Listening to Hillsdale College men's basketball.
Your starters for the Hillsdale Chargers are going to be number two,
Ashtonowski, number four, Charles Woodhams, number 30, Logan Beeston,
number 33, Joe Ruder, and number 35, Eric Roodham.
Dissovich. So, on the other hand, we got a good game on us on our hands right here.
Split last year, Saginaw Valley and Hillsdale College. So it should be a really,
really exciting one. Hillsdale on a five-game home winning streak coming off of last year.
You know, big season opener. You got a little bit of a crowd here. I bet you more football guys
will show up though during the game.
Got some over there.
You got, oh, I see more now.
Pretty decent crowd, though.
I think you get some more people.
For a 3 o'clock game.
Yeah, for a 3 p.m. game on a Friday afternoon,
there's always some people who are going to show play.
People were in practice.
Baseball guys are in practice.
I think volleyball and women's basketball might also be.
Women's basketball.
Purdue Northwest, I'm pretty sure.
Oh, yeah.
Women's basketball is playing Purdue Northwest right now all the way up there.
So the user of the men's team and the women's team.
travel together, especially in conference play, but
today they are split up and it's just
the men's game today.
Hill still charge of football, though.
Big game tomorrow.
Big game.
Big game tomorrow against the University of Tiffin.
Open for a big W.
It would be a big W if we can pull it off tomorrow.
They are third in the conference right now.
And they're ranked 9th in the region, which is like
two spots away from the playoffs.
If they went out, they got a pretty good chance of making
the college football.
Division two playoffs.
But normally two G-Match schools don't make it, so it would be interesting to see if there
is two that make it this year.
Normally there's one in Ashton's pretty much a lock right now because they won the conference.
Yeah.
It's between Finley or Tiffin.
They have a chance to go.
Yeah, a pretty good chance.
Tiffin's at seven right now.
So, tipping off here in a couple of minutes, but an unexpected start is, now.
Number 30, Logan Beeston, didn't really expect him to start.
He didn't play a whole lot last year.
Didn't really play at all last year.
He's a red shirt freshman.
So this will be his first game playing of real college basketball.
He's starting.
So good thing to get somebody young out there,
somebody who's got four years of eligibility,
who's starting for the Hillsdale Chargers today.
Yep.
Other than that, pretty much what we expected.
one of the two big men, C.J. Earyan and Eric Radicevich, you knew that one of them were going to start.
Didn't know which one. Very similar players, both very large individuals.
One's relatively bigger than the other, but...
Well, C.J. Eriene is 610 and Radisovic is 6.9, so it's pretty close.
It's close.
But you got a pretty good team of decent shooters.
We might have them in it a little bit of a delay starting this game as the reps are reattached.
the net on this end right here it looked like the net a piece of the net tore off in the middle yeah
don't don't dunk the ball on warm-ups I guess um but once they get that out they'll they'll start the game
um so you know what else happened yesterday big bangles ravens game and and cold cancer here is a
huge ravens fan huge uh talking about that lamar jackson MVP season heavy back-to-back
having a really good year
having a really good year
and almost lost it last night
but win 3534
and I was really upset
because I woke up this morning
and saw that
Jamar Chase had 55 points
and I was playing against him
in fantasy football so
you always have a big game against Ravens
yep I guess we can't cover them
can't cover him but it doesn't matter when you win the game
so starting the tip off here
is Bricevich for Hillsdale
College
and
Nico Newsom starting for the Saginaw Valley.
We did not see that coming.
Also, Bryce Huckabee.
Number 10.
Number 21, Richmond, Mauder.
Mauter.
And then also number 11, Tudel Seal, which we expected.
We expected that one.
And then number one, Freddie McIntosh as well.
So some interesting starters.
As you have one freshman starting, the 6-6 guard,
Nico Newsome.
a junior who didn't see a whole lot of playing in time last year at forward 6-8 Richmond
Molotter.
And the crowd is cheering a little bit as the net finally gets fixed and we're ready to play some basketball.
Ladder's moving off.
So here we go.
Some confusion.
Ref's giving some thumbs up.
And here comes a tip.
Tip. One by Hillsdale.
The ball is given to point guard, Ashton Janowski.
The third year point guard, second season starting in that role.
Handed down into the key, Eric Radicevich, who swings it out to Logan Beeston.
Out to Router, Router with a three-point shot early, misses.
Big rebound.
Big rebound by Charles Woodham's.
Offensive rebound is the story of Hillsdale College often.
Charles Wittams for three, and he misses long rebound.
and it goes out to Saginaw Valley's Freddie McIntosh.
Two pretty good shots for Hillsdale there.
Yeah.
And then a three-pointer for Saginaw Valley is good by number 11, Tudel Seal.
One of the best players starting the game off early.
Yeah, they just got him a little pick, get that outside shot in, get the open three-pointer.
Ball out in the hands of Charles Williams.
Radicevich, handing it to Janowski, trying to get a little bit of a mismatch on Radisovitch,
but they're playing his own defense.
ball in the corner to Beeston. Beeston for three, and it's good.
Tying this game up early, three to three.
Good ball movement, a lot of takes set, get the shooters open.
Yep.
Really, really good ball movement for Hillsdale, especially important against the zone defense.
Yep, and you got to set a lot of screens in the zone defense as well.
Yep.
You guys open.
Ball in the hands now of Nico Newsom.
Newsom.
Out to McIntosh.
Mickintosh.
Back to Newsom.
Newsom for three.
and it rims out
and he'll still gets the rebound
Logan Beeston
Joe Reuter taking the ball
at the floor
ball outside the arc
up to Janowski
Janowski takes some dribbles
kicks it back out to Radisovich
Radisovits for three
and it's good
Big time shot for the big man
Big man three-pointer
Hillstil's big
don't take threes very often
but when they do
it means they were wide open
ball in the hands of Bryson Huckley
Huckabee
to Megatosh
Megatosh for three
good answer for the Cardinals
yep he got a 6-6 game here
17 minutes left the first half
ball in the hands of Radicevich
Rizovich out for three and they're actually guarding him this time
ready for that three point shot
Beeston for three
Beeston another three-pointer
There's gonna be a lot of threes this game
Yes there are three six points already for Beeston
in his first ever game,
the first ever game as a college player starting.
Huckabee, with the ball,
dribbling down on Beeston,
misses the shot, he grabs his own rebound,
kicks it out.
Not a great shot.
No, not a great shot at all.
Now in the hands of Mickintosh,
Sagina out, resetting up the offense.
Chudel seal, taking a screen.
Tootle seal, on Woodson.
Good defense.
Yeah.
dribbles the ball, kind of loses it,
falls out of bounds and the ball ends up with the chargers good defense by charles woodhams
saganoe valley now pressing uh rudder gets it out to woodham's the double team woodhams and he gets
the ball in the hands of genowski genowski finds beasting up to court wild and three but he misses
great rebound by joe rudder joe rudder for an easy finish saggnoll trying to slow the slow the pace
down a little bit with the press yeah but
Hillsdale is big on the offensive rebound and Saginaw really needs to start boxing out players like Charles Williams, Joe Router, those forwards who are, you know, big guys, but can still kind of sneak behind you.
There's a three put up for Saginaw Valley misses.
Need some more ball movement there from Saginaw.
Yeah, Seal just trying to put up an early shot.
All in the hands of Radicevich.
Radisovic pumps for three, gets him to jump, kicks it out to Beeston and Beeston for three misses.
A little bit cold right now.
Yep, Beeson already taken four three-point shots this.
in his first ever game
four minutes in.
So, McIntosh.
McGintosh with the ball.
Little switch.
Woodhams on him.
Playing defense.
Biggantosh trying to make a move.
Fade away jumper and he hits it off the bang.
Tough shot.
I think Saganon needs to move the ball a little bit more.
A lot of ISO going on right now.
It was a real tough shot choice.
You know, that one falls, but you're not going to get those to fall all game.
You really need to create better shots for yourself.
Jannowski, with a little piece.
Pick and roll.
Jips off to Regisovich.
Outside the three-point line gets another guy to jump.
Kicks back to Janowski.
Janowski, dribble move.
Pass to a wide open Joe Ruder for an easy layup.
Nice pass by Janowski.
Yeah, I mean, just great move.
Hillsdale with great movement and great offensive rebounding here early in this first half.
Oh, JL hit by Joe Ruter and out of bounds as Saginaw Valley is going to get the ball.
And we're going to go to a short media timeout.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.
Sam and a fam.
Where we're saving the English language 60 seconds out of time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and if you've been listening to this show for a while, you know how much I love the word enormity.
Quick recap.
Most people think enormity means huge, but it actually means huge evil.
And this can quickly get hilarious when it's misused.
Here are some real headlines where I assume this happened.
Astronomers are revealing the enormity of the universe.
enormity of the largest passenger aircraft,
the enormity of the Indian electorate,
the enormity of adolescence,
the enormity of life,
apparently that's the title of a movie.
Enormity of Wales,
and a personal favorite,
Ezekiel Elliott needs to understand
the enormity of everything surrounding him.
Must be a rough life.
That's your Grammar Minute.

And welcome back to Hillsdale Man,
Charger basketball is the Hillsdale Chargers are currently up 13 to 8 early in this first half
against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals.
So early year, Logan Beeston with his first start in his college career, his first playing time in his college career.
Are you taking four threes, made two of them?
Some substitutions for Hillsdale, Mikey McCollum's in the game now.
Yeah, Mikey McCollum is going to check in for Logan Beeston and CJ Erie in the 610 center
is checking in for the 6-9 center, Eric Radicevich.
Pretty much always going to have at least one of those guys on the floor.
Sure.
A couple of cells for Saginaw as well.
We got Elijah Mattingly in the game,
and we got number two Tristan Nichols in the game.
Yeah, Nichols.
Checking in for the Sagina Valley.
Saganavale trying to get something going
because they're currently already down five early.
Ball in the hands of Mickintosh,
their best player, their guard.
Toughness.
Yeah, ball off the rim.
Rebound Joe Ruder.
great rebound by Joe Ruter
ball in the hands of McCollum
McCollum a big three-point shooter
really likes to shoot teams know that though
and they are prepared for the shooter
Yerian with the ball on top of the key
kicks out to Janowski
Janowski up to Ruter
Ruter to C.J. Yerian for another
three-pointer and that big man three does not fall
a lot of big man threes today
ball in the hands of Tristan Nichols
taking up the floor playing point guard down
passes it off to maddingly maddingly to mickintosh
mickettosh goes up for the shot and gets blocked by charles woodham's but woodham knocks the ball out of bounds
so it's going to stay with saguenow valley out of bounds 15 second yeah great shot blocked
15 seconds left on the shot clock there for sagano valley uh pass the ball in number 10
bryson hookaby huckabee out to madingley madingley this is it to anderson
Anderson back to Huckabee.
And a shot short off the rim, Hillsdale rebound.
Tough shot.
Yeah, I mean, just kind of didn't look like he was had any momentum going into that shot.
Nope, he wasn't ready to shoot that.
As Janowski, he gets a wide open three, and he's going to take it, and it rims out.
Great shot selections here, I think, early for Hillsdale College.
I mean, some of them aren't going to fall, but clearly enough have that they're up 13 to 8 still.
A lot of open threes.
Got to take them all you can.
On the other hand, Saginaw Valley taking a lot of deep twos.
Very interesting choices.
I mean, it looks a little bit more like some backyard basketball, a lot of one-on-ones,
not a lot of ball movement.
A great move is made.
Then they called the N-1 there.
Mattingly, he made the basket, but he was fouled before the shots.
They're going to call it on the floor.
Score remains 13 to 8.
Hill still chargers.
That's a great drive.
I think that's an end-law.
one.
They have not.
And there they actually do give them the points.
They change the call.
Give him the end one.
So two points there for Maddingley is he's shooting the third.
Scores 13 to 10.
Hillsville Chargers lead.
Mattingly with the Frito short off the rim.
And Woodham grabs the rebound.
Woodham pass out to Mikey McCollum.
McCollum up to Yerian.
Back to Woodham's.
When I'm saving it from out of bounds
Chucks it up to C.J. Earing who loses the ball
throws it down the court in Saginaw Valley
out to Tristan Nichols who has an easy
wide open layup.
Got to take care of the ball there.
Leaves a fast break point. Yep. Cole McQuinnie
has already checked in for the Chargers
now playing point guard. Gives up to
Garrett Bolte who's also checked in for the Chargers.
Chargers is getting subs in here early.
McCollum.
One-on-one.
takes in Nichols
kicks out to Woodham's
for a wide open three and he makes it
16 to 12
Hillsdale Chargers
good kickout by McCullen for the three
wide open guys
yeah a lot of three-pointers taking for Hillsdale
but when you have those shots in college basketball
you take him
Colemanie on the defense
ball in the hands of Tristan Nichols
Nichols jiggles on Woodhams
Nichols with a tough
make very tough shot
Good bucket for Saginaw.
Yeah, I mean, fade away, long two-pointer, makes the score 16 to 14.
Hillsdale Charger lead.
Ball in the hands of CJ Yaring, who kicks it out to Garrett Bullty.
Hillsdale player falls.
Mikey McCollum takes the three, and he misses, but he gets fouled.
That is a bad foul for Saginaw, especially on the three-point line.
I think it was a good job by Mikey McCollum to land forward and then kind of fall.
into the player who was rushing out to try to block the shot.
Yep.
That foul was on number five.
Maurice Anderson, his first team first.
And you have Mikey McCollum at the line shooting three free throws.
As he sinks the first, making it 17 to 14.
Hillsdale Chargers with 12 minutes and 20 seconds left to go in this first half of play.
And the second shot is up.
It's also good.
18 to 14 charges.
Mikey McCollum is a phenomenal three-point shooter, but he's also a great free-throw shooter.
Most of the Hillsdale's team is, but Mikey McCollum can shoot from anywhere.
Nico Newsom checks in for Huckavy.
For Saginaw.
For Saginaw.
As McCollum makes the third, Dantes Scott checks in as well.
Ball in his hands, playing point guard.
Passes out to Nico Newsome.
Diego Newsome
Steps out of bounds
Ball and out of the Chargers
Good ball pressure by Hillsdale
He used to a turnover
Great, it was a great
defensive effort there to put
So put some pressure on the ball
When Sagina Lover's not ready for that
Pull McQuinnie
In the backcourt getting pressed
Takes on the press
And he beats it hands it off to
Mikey McCollum
Down to Col McQuinnie
A great pass from McQuinnie to Rooney
to Ruter and an easy layup for Ruter.
Nice cut, nice pass.
Yeah, I mean, just splitting two defenders there with that pass.
Nico Newsom on the dribble outside the three-point line.
Passed it off to Mattingly.
Mattingly takes him on, and he gets fouled.
They're going to give him the two shots.
That's a tough call.
Yeah, it looks like he might have gotten the ball,
but he must have gotten just a little bit of that hand, too.
It was a great defensive effort, but didn't quite get there,
as we're going to go to a short media timeout.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Welcome to the old ballgame where we talk about the past of America's favorite pastime.
I'm Tate Christensen.
Today we talk about the origin of baseball's favorite concession food, hot dogs.
At early ball games, there were no official concession stands,
but local people would sell food to fans who tended to eat things you would eat without utensils.
And at the beginning of the 20th century, German immigrants began to help shape the culture,
and people began to love their dachshund sausages, which were served with a milk roll and sourcrow.
In the 1860s, Chris von der Ahee, a German immigrant and owner of the St. Louis Browns, introduced the hot dog to baseball fans.
At first, they were served without buns, and instead, customers would keep the white gloves that the hot sausages were served on.
However, the gloves were eventually not being returned, and this frustrated the company.
Somewhere along the line, the split bun was introduced, and it fit just like a glove, and now countless hot dogs are eaten every ballgame.
This has been the old ballgame on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Back to radio for Hillsdale, 101.7FM.
Here watching the Hillsdale Charger men's basketballs.
They're currently up 21 to 14 on the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals.
A great game so far from the Chargers.
Kind of an all-around game, although a lot of three-point shots.
A lot of threes in this game.
And then Caleb Glazer checks him in the game for the Hillsdale Chargers.
Yep, sophomore.
He sees his first action in the day.
A couple really nice twos, though.
Easy layups by Joe Ruder on a couple cuts.
But other than that, Hillsdale Chargers shooting pretty well all around.
Even saw a big man three by Eric Radicevich.
As the first free throw is missed by Mattingly.
Second free throw, he lines up, 2114 still.
Second free throw is up.
And it's good.
Being it 2115 for the Chargers in Saginaw Valley presses Hillsdale.
Trying to create some turnovers here.
Yep.
Ashton.
Janowski passing the ball off to
Mikey McCollum easily being the press
McCollum trying to take on his man doesn't have any
breathing room passes it off to Glazer
Glazer also trying to dribble around his man
there's a out to Janowski outside the three point line
some really really good zone defense here by Saginaw Valley
as Janowski is fouled with only three seconds left in the
shot clock huge error there by Saginaw Valley
Saginaw's playing better defense
this possession.
Yeah, but getting a foul with
three seconds left on the shot clock, when you were going to
force a pretty bad shot, not ideal
for you, for sure.
Freddie McIntosh checks back into the game.
Yeah, his that foul was on. Number 13,
Montez Sweat.
John Teas Sweat, excuse me.
Ball passed into Joe Ruter. Joe Ruter takes
it on the drive. Passed out to Mikey McCollum.
Mikey McCollum for three, off the rim and no good.
I like that shot, though.
Yeah, great shot there.
Tudel seal taking a ball of court for Saginaw.
This game is 21 to 15.
He goes to the lead.
Passes it off to Mickentire.
Megatire makes them fall.
Misses the reverse layup, though.
That's a great move.
What are you saying?
Got to finish that one.
Got to finish.
$10 move, $5 finish.
Yeah, so great move there by Mikintosh,
but can't finish the layup.
Janowski is the ball on the other end.
Takes a fadeaway jumper.
That's usually a shot, but he misses.
rebound offensively though but he'll
Gleaser and he gets the N1.
Great board, good finish
and he is hyped up.
It's a big time in one.
Offensive rebound
and one shot.
You go from a zero point possession
to a two point, possible three point possession
right here.
See those offensive rebounds
are just like getting extra possessions.
Yep.
Offensive rebounds are big.
You can put points back up on a misses.
Hill still has been killing the offensive board
is Glazer makes his free throw.
Score 24-15.
Hill still charges.
Ball in the hands.
Sweet point shot.
Saginaw needs to swing the ball around a little more.
A lot of ISOs, a lot of just come down the court and shoot it.
Need some more ball move from Saginaw.
There was a loose ball foul, I'm pretty sure, on Saginaw Valley.
Yes, there was.
Sorry, I had to cough that for.
a minute. Ball inbounded by Joe Ruter.
Two Charles Wittams, right back to Joe Ruder
as they're breaking the press.
Second off still pressing.
Ruter, out in the hands
of Logan Beeston is checked back in for the chargers.
Glazer with the ball.
Passes on the top of the key
to Woodham's. Wittams kicks it out to Glazer.
Glazer kicks it all the way out to Beeston.
Five seconds left on the shot clock.
Glazer turns the last.
the ball over with a bad pass.
Cannot do that.
Not a great pass there, but not a lot of time left from the shot clock.
Is Minkentire.
Shoots a deep three, and he makes it.
Deep three.
Like a logo three, of course, our logo is pretty large in the center there.
But.
Big time shot.
Big time shot there for Saginaw Valley.
Making the score 24 to 18 cutting this chargers lead to only six.
As Woodhams.
Passes it to Janowski takes a little fadeaway jump shot.
That's usually his shot.
but he's been over two on that shot today.
Ball in the hands of Saginaw Valley's seal.
Seal.
Cakes it down to Moleter, who misses the layup and rebound Joe Ruter.
Ball in the hands of Janowski.
Janowski kicks out to Logan Beeston.
Beeson makes a little dribble.
Out to Joe Ruder, top of the three-point line.
Has a one-on-one, 13 seconds left on the shot clock,
takes his one-on-one, and he's fouled on his way up.
I think Joe Reuter needs to attack the rim a little bit more.
Yep.
I think that was a great job right there of attacking the rim.
It was.
I mean, drawing a foul for your team.
It's the fouls on Freddie Mickintosh, his first team fifth.
Shooting two at the line will be number 33, Joe Router, who is also a really, really good free-go shooter.
Joe Router, shoots the first and makes the first.
Nice. Eric Radicevich is going to check in for the chargers. Chargers. Getting another big man back onto the floor, the 6-9 Radicevich. And the second shot. It's in the hands of Giro Ruder. Putter puts up the free throw. And it's good.
He's a very beautiful shot. Doesn't hit the rim at all. Nope. Nothing but that.
Ball in the hands of Tristan Nichols. This Aragonaw Valley. Passes it off to seal. Seal. To make a
Mikintosh.
Mikintosh trying to make a move around Radicevich, who is just so much bigger than he is.
Passes it out to seal again, has to get rid of the ball.
As there is a one-on-one Eric Radisivis against the very small seal.
Makes a great move around him.
There's a block.
What a great block by Woodham's right there.
To save the layup after Mickintosh made a great move on seal.
Ball in the hands of Joe Ruder.
Joe Riebill.
Step back.
misses the long jumper
rebound seal
seal nice move
taking a great move any dunks
good move by seal
it finishes with a dunk
yeah just a little one two goes right abound
Eric Radicevich who has
gotta get matched up on their big man
that's a big time dunk
Eric Radisovich obviously has the size
to guard anybody
but you want to get a more athletic
guy on some of those smaller
guards
yeah the smaller guards are too
quick to the big man.
Ball in the hands of Janowski.
Janowski.
Double teams in the corner.
Good defense. And we have a timeout.
Great defense there.
Five second of values. There's going to be six seconds left in the shot clock when we get back.
We're going to take a short timeout, though.
One minute timeout.
You're listening to Radio Freeh still.

Hello and welcome back to the Hillsdale Charger Men's Basketball and Radio Free Hillsdale
1-1.1.7 FM.
Hillsdale Chargers currently lead 26 to 20 with 7 minutes and 25 seconds left in the first half
of play. Six seconds left
in the shot clock as the chargers have possession
and are going to inbound the ball.
Going to need a quick shot here. What are you drawn up right here?
I'm going to try to get Joe with three.
Here, a couple of picks. A double screen for him.
Double screen for Joe Ruder.
Momentum is definitely on Sagina off the side right now after that dunk.
Now Woodham's also the one passing the ball in.
So since Woodham's is passing the ball in, there is a little bit of that threat of
going right back to the inbounder and taking that three-pointer.
So, I think I'll get your best player of the ball here.
Yep, six seconds left on the shot clock because the ball is inbound.
It's a Router.
Ruter takes a dribble step.
Janowski, with the step back fade away, and he's actually not even going to shoot the ball.
As the shot clock expires, just an unfortunate possession there for Hillsdale.
Letting the shot clock go all the way down to zero, only up six points.
Got to get that one off any way you can.
Yep, some kind of shot.
Even if it's not a good shot, get some kind of shot.
Got to get some down up.
Janowski could not get himself turned around in time.
Well, put the ball up.
Hands the ball of Mickentire for Saginaw Valley State.
Passes it off.
Seal, seal taken on Router, gets a round Router on a scoff of a screen.
Gives the ball up to number 10.
And he makes the layup.
Huckabee.
Huckabee, making the layup.
Cutting the Chargers lead to only four.
The ball now is in the hands of Ashton Janowski.
Saganal.
gets better shots at the right in my opinion when they move the ball around yeah they've done a much
better job of moving the ball around since that second media time out on the first you know maybe
six to eight minutes they couldn't get anything going they were all playing one-on-one ball and then they
started moving the ball around is the Janowski takes a fadeaway jumper and then he makes it there is
his shot right there and he finally gets one to gets one to fall for him it's a good bucket right there
Yeah.
Ball in the hands of Mikitosh, passing it out to seal.
Seal to Newsom.
Newsom, with the layup, and he makes it cutting this Chargers lead once again to four points.
That was way too easy.
Way too easy.
Yeah, Chargers got to play a little bit better defense.
Seem to get a little bit tired with these guys.
Something not playing quite as well as they were in those first couple minutes.
as Beeston taking a deep three-pointer and he makes it.
Hughes 3 for the Hillsdale Chargers.
Yeah, quick catching shoot for Logan Beeston.
Right sure of freshman.
On the hands of Mickintosh, Miggintosh.
Passes it inside.
Monitor.
Nice give and go there for Sackenol.
Yep.
Draws a foul.
As the shot was put up by number 15, Niko Newsome.
and he's going to be shooting two free throws.
He did not make the basket, though.
So fouls on number two.
Ashton Jannowski is first.
The team's third, so they're not really in any foul trouble here.
That's five minutes are left to go.
In this first half of play.
And Saginaw Valley misses another free throw.
I mean, how many free throws have they missed?
Quite a few.
They have to start making the free throws.
Quite a few.
Nico Newsom misses the first, so the score remains 3,1-24 Hillsdale Chargers lead.
Second shot is put up and it's good.
Eliza Maddenly checking in the game for Saginaw.
Yep.
Sagina Valley pressing the Hillsdale Chargers once again.
Trying to slow tempo down.
Yep.
Ball easily inbound into Janowski, who takes it down the floor, no problem at all.
Passes it out to Woodham's from the top of the key.
Woodham's.
taking this guy on.
Dribble, kickout to Janowski.
Janowski dribbles in.
Finds a wide open Mikey McCollum who shoots three.
You cannot leave that guy wide open.
That was Hillsdale's best shooter last year.
That was a nice dribble and kickout for a wide open three for McCollum.
Yeah.
I mean, he's very smooth shooter.
Yep.
Very natural to him.
This ball is currently in the hands for Saginaw Valley of Tootel Seal.
He was a seal looking for his screen from Mattingly and passes it off to him.
To Maddenley try to take him on.
Four seconds left on the shot clock.
Three, two, it takes a really bad shot, but it hits the rim.
And Hillsdale Chargers are able to get the rebound.
Hizzle Chargers pressing it.
Now slowing it down.
Ball out to Mikey McCone for three who just misses ball rims out.
Make it tire.
Kind of a heat check there.
Made one.
With the rebound.
Yeah, made one.
Made one.
Try to get a three off over somebody else.
and wasn't able to get it to fall.
He'll still up 9 points, 34 to 25 with 4 minutes left to go in this first half to play.
Ball in the hands of SEAL.
Seal, looking for a screen, doesn't get one.
Nice move.
He takes a step back three-pointer, and he hits it.
It's a nice move and a nice bucket for SEAL.
I like it when the Saginaw Valley hits a big shot,
and you expect to see some excitement, maybe even from the bench,
but it's just kind of dead.
Yeah.
Even the bench is just dead quiet over there for Saginaw Valley.
Seals having a good game though right now.
Yeah.
Make some big time buckets for Saginaw.
Ball in the hands of Janowski.
Janowski.
With the layup and the ball rims out, but he does draw the foul.
Nice drive by Janowski.
Mm-hmm.

Those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor, this is Minute of Honor.
Here's Jinnah Suhita.
On June 6, 1918, gunnery sergeant Charles Hoffman was serving near Chautau-Tierry, France.
His company had taken Hill 142 and was attempted to consolidate their position.
But immediately after taking the position, enemy forces began launching several hostile counterattacks against the line.
Sergeant Hoffman was attempting to organize a position on the north slope of the hill when he saw 12 of the enemy,
armed with five light machine guns crawling towards his group.
Given the alarm, he rushed towards the hostile detachment, bayoneted the two leaders and forced the others to flee,
abandoning their guns. His quick action, initiative, and courage drove the enemy from a position
from which they could have swept the entire hill with machine gunfire and forced the withdrawal of
American troops. For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty,
gunnery sergeant Charles Hoffman received both the Navy Medal of Honor and the Army Medal of Honor.
This is Minute of Honor on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Hello and welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
here watching the Hillsdale Charger men's basketball team
take on the Stagano Valley State Cardinals.
Apparently the Hillsdale Chargers are up 34 to 28
with three minutes and 43 seconds left to go
in this first half of play.
What do you think the Hillsdale's have done well
so far this game?
I like when they dribble and drive and kick it out to wide open three.
A lot better shots coming off to that.
Yeah, I agree.
Hill's still kind of
kind of slowed down
defensively I would say but definitely
picks up offensively a lot more of their shots
have fallen but you'd like to see some more
defensive stance here for the Chargers
at Stanowski's shooting two free throws and he makes
the first
free throws also been a really big
story setting the valley missed quite a few three throws
but Hillsdale's made pretty much everyone and that
really could be that eight point difference
or seven point difference
now eight point difference
as the next beside.
And Cole McQuinnney is checking in
for the Hillsdale Chargers.
All in the hands of McIntosh
for Saginaw Valley. Saginaw Valley.
Kivantosh passed it off to Seal.
Seal.
Looking for a screen.
Doesn't get one.
McCullum able to beat the screen.
Passed it down.
Great pass there.
But misses the layup.
Number 10, Brian Huckfee.
Got to make that right there.
got to.
Yeah, when you get easy shots in college basketball,
which you don't very often, you have to make them.
Ball in the hands of McQueenie on the corner.
Pump fake, takes a little dribble, passes it off to Garrett Bullty.
Garibulte with a swing pass all the way across to Mikey McCollum for three misses,
but offensive rebound Cole McQuinnie and he drops it.
Ball punched out.
Ends up in the hands of Seal for Saginaw Valley State.
Seal.
Trying to take on Mikey McCollum but can't find any room.
McCollum. Ball passed down to Maddingly.
Out to Huckabee. Huckabee out to McIntosh. Five seconds left in the shot clock.
Takes it on and he makes the easy layup.
Got to play better defense there for the Chargers.
Yeah, it really was a great drive by Huckabee.
Ball in the hands with Mikey McCollum passing out to Cole McQuinnney.
Cole McQuinnney for three and he makes it.
Big bucket there for Hillsdale.
Yeah, Cole McQuinnney, big three-point shooter for Hillsdale last year as well.
Shot shoots, it doesn't shoot very often, but when he does, it usually goes in.
Seal, with a fadeaway jumper, low percentage shot, and he misses.
I don't like that shot selection by Saginaw.
Nope.
Ball passed down to McCollum.
McCollum takes the drive, misses, doesn't get fouled.
Look like a goaltin there, in my opinion.
And they're going to call a foul on Yerian instead.
on the rebound.
The area
a little bit frustrated.
All the Hillsdale Chargers
is a little bit frustrated
with that series of calls.
A couple of subs for both teams here.
Yep.
Rooter checking back into the game.
So I've got a timeout.
We're going to get into a short
one minute timeout. You're listening to Radio
for Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
This is the Making of America
from the Jefferson Media Group.
On August 6th,
1945, an atomic weapon
was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, in hopes of ending World War II.
However, few are aware, for days prior to the bombing, American pilots dropped leaflets over the
city, warning the people to leave. Read this carefully as it will save your life, it read,
we are in the possession of the most destructive explosive ever devised by man, and then it
urged them to evacuate their city. Even though over 100,000 people lost their lives in Hiroshima,
the Empire of Japan still refused to surrender.
It took a second bombing on Nagasaki
before the Emperor himself ordered the surrender
over the objections of his military leaders.
This has been the Making of America.

Hello, and welcome back to Radio for Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Listening to the Hillsdale Charger men's basketball team
take on the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals.
Saginaw Valley has the possession,
but Hillsdale is currently up nine points, 39 to 30,
with a minute 47 seconds left in the first half to play.
Ball out to Mickintosh for the Saginaw Valley State.
Pass it off to Steele.
Trying to get a little dribble handoff seal with a three-pointer over somebody,
and he's unable to make it, but rebound Saginaw Valley.
Kickout, and Huckabee misses the shot,
but he's fouled on the three-pointer.
One thing you never wanted to do is foul on a three-point shot.
Yeah, you do not want to do that.
Yeah.
So misses the shot, but he's going to give three three-free throws is Huckabee.
Saginaw does need to move the ball around a little bit more.
They're starting to get a little stagnant in the offense with one man,
just dribbling to try to find a shot.
A little of a problem.
I think that they're giving him three shots.
Here's shot number one, Huckabee.
makes the shot.
That big problem so far.
So shooting free throws for Saginaw Valley.
They're currently not shooting so well,
but he makes the first and he makes the second.
Only a two-pointer, actually, they gave him on the,
so only gave him two free throws now.
Actually, it was three, sorry.
His scores now 39 to 33, Hillsville Chargers.
ball in the hands of the big man Radicevich trying to back his man down he does a little bit
makes a move and he puts it up and makes a layup big time hook shot I think he'll just
get a lot more pain touches yep it'll be a big three-point shooting team today I want to see a little
bit more driving out of them but you know whatever works works they're up with an eight-point lead right now
as ball is in the hands of mickintosh mickintosh kicking down back out to mickettosh and he misses the
three-pointer. Rebound Janowski.
Janowski gets fouled on his rundown.
So Janowski, trying to make a quick
offensive possession, trying to dribble and drive.
Kind of got...
Tristan Nichols kind of dives and just grabs his wrist
than it can slow down and start a new possession all that.
I think McIntosh forced a shot there.
So weird-looking shot for sure.
Yeah, Megatash saw some kind of opening
that wasn't really there.
as there were a guy in his face and tough shot.
But Janowski is going to be shooting two free throws because,
well, shooting a one-in-one free throw because those are the charges earn the bonus.
So Janowski puts up the first free throw and makes it,
which is big because it is a one-in-one, so now he gets a second attempt.
Yep.
And checking in for the chargers is number one, Caleb Glazer.
checking in for Rizovich.
Currently 42.5 seconds left.
This clock winds down.
Hillill is currently up nine points in the first half.
So pretty soon here, probably after this possession,
you're going to look to get that last shot in of the half.
Might go two for one here.
As Janowski makes the second free throw.
Quick seal with a quick layup,
and he makes it.
Way too easy.
Way too easy for the, by the Hillsdale chargers.
as the ball's inbounded
Joe Ruder with the ball
slowing it down trying to get the last shot
as the play clock is even
with the game clock.
They did not get the two for one
like they hoped.
So 43, 35, 15 seconds left.
Hillsville Chargers kind of dribbling out
waiting for that last shot.
Ball in the hands of Janowski.
I like to see a dribble kick here.
That's been working for Hillsdale.
Yep.
Ball in the hands of
Mattingly and you get the block
call as he goes up for the layup.
So he's going to be shooting two here.
2.5 seconds left in the clock in the first half.
I think Huckabee was in the inner circle there in the pain.
That's why I call it a block.
Yep. Huckabee in the inner circle.
So getting a foul there, shooting two free throws will be Charles Wudams.
2.5 seconds left.
So Sagina Valley is going to look to get a quick possession here as he misses the first free throw.
Chargers shooting very well from Freethel line as a team.
I think that's their first miss.
That's what I'm just puts up the second shot and he makes it.
So Sagina Valley, 2.5 seconds.
Just to chuck down the court,
grabbed by and the first half will end
as Mikey McCollum air balls the really, really, really deep three.
It was after the buzzer anyway.
It wouldn't have counted.
So after your first half,
The score is 44 the Hillsdale Chargers to 35, the away Saginaw Valley State Cardinals.
So current 9-point lead after this first half of play.
And we'll be back after halftime.
You'll listen to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM as we take a 20-ish minute break.
Hello and welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
My name is Evan Mick.
I'm here today with Cole Cantor.
How we doing?
We're talking about the Hillsdale Chargers men's basketball.
team live broadcast here from Potter Arena. Dawn Tibbitts Potter Arena.
Hillsdale is currently up going into the second half, 44 to 35.
Big, every single player for Hillsdale has a positive plus minus.
So if you don't know what that is, it means that when they're on the floor,
the team scores overall more points than they do than the other team does.
On the other hand, every player on Saginaw has a negative plus-minus.
Hillsdale's been dominating with their starters, with their backups,
with basically everybody on the court.
Leading Hillsdale in points is Logan Beeston with nine.
And then behind him is Joe Ruter with eight total points.
I think Joe needs to get some more shots as half.
He's been kind of quiet.
Joe Ruder usually averages 30.
something points but today he is only at eight which of course when you're winning is not that big
of a deal but it's been a pretty close matchup and and joe ruder hasn't really turned it on especially
not from the three point line and saginaw are led by their two best players macintosh and uh two
seal they both got 10 yep saw that one coming today uh as the ball is imbounded two seal
ball in the hands of nico newsome newsome falls to the ground and we're going to have a early jump ball
because Justin's going to go to the Chargers.
So Taggana Valley,
inbounded it.
Chargers bringing some physicality early
this half. I like to see that.
Yep. I already had a guy in the ground,
which usually draws a foul on basketball, but
not right there. Woodham's
with the ball on his hand. Passed out to
Janowski. He makes a quick move, easy
layup there. Just a
really quick move there by Janowski.
Very quick move led to an easy layup.
Very easy layout.
Yep. Brian Huckabee.
with the ball passing it out to moitzer mojure mojure up to seal seal on the top of the key gets a screen
screen kind of leaves him seal making a move on joe rudder doesn't get there passes it out three-pointer off the
off the rim by huckabee rebounded chargers ball in the hands right now of logan bston the redshirt freshman
ashtonowski making another quick move doesn't get there though has to pass it off woodham's wide open jump
but misses.
Got to make that.
Nobody covering him at all,
but misses the wide open jumper.
Fall in the hands of seal.
Seal.
Tomaki.
Maki back to Seal.
Seal.
Another one of those teammates
in Nico Newsome.
Newsom trying to make a move on Beeston.
Beast, up to Mickintyre.
Seven seconds left on the shot clock is a shot clock's running down.
Second of the Valley kind of scrambling, looking for a shot.
And they're going to draw a foul.
Second all got bailed out.
there with a foul.
Yep.
So a nice move there originally by Mickintosh, but some good help defense there by Router,
but not enough to keep him to keep Eric Radicevich away from drawing the foul.
You can't foul there with one second left on the play clock.
No, very dangerous.
But as we have seen, Sagina Valley not been that great of a free throw shooting team.
And he misses the first one.
So maybe fouling him not such a bad idea instead of giving up the easy layout.
make them earn those two points.
That's Mekintosh for his second free throw, and he makes it.
And then it goes off the head of Radisovich after it goes in the basket.
So Janowski, taking the ball up for the Chargers.
Chargers are currently up 46 to 36.
There's 18 minutes left in the second half.
Ball in the hands of Wittams.
He was down to Ruder.
Ruder with another easy layup.
That's the third time where Router is just snuck by the defense.
and found himself for a Y-upin basket.
Nice pass by Janowski.
Yeah.
Bigotash.
Deep three, very short.
Great box out there by Regisivich allowing.
Routter to get an easy rebound.
Beeston with a deep three, and he makes it.
More.
Deep three.
Hillsdale, taking a 15-point lead here early in the second half.
51 to 36, and this crowd's a little fired up,
as they're going to force Saginaw Valley to take a 30-second time out.
Actually, sorry, a one minute timeout.
Score 5136 as you're listening to Radio Free Elsdale 101.1.7.
Where we're exploring the universe 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're looking at two bright star clusters.
While planets, meteors, and aurora adorn this year's winter skies,
more distant objects, such as the Pleiades and Hyades
returned with familiar dazzle to their winter posts.
The Pleiades and Hyades are open star clusters,
groups of hundreds of stars born together and loosely bound by gravity.
They've been admired since antiquity visible even to the unaided eye.
To see them, look east toward the constellation Taurus.
The Pleiades is an obvious fuzzy patch sprinkled with a handful of bright stars.
Nearby Hyades is V-shaped and accented by bright red aldebaran,
though that star is not actually part of the group.
You'll see several stars in each cluster,
and binoculars will reveal many more of their hundreds of members.
That's your Astro Minute.
Welcome back to radio for Hillsdale, 101.7 FM as the Hillslow Chargers currently lead 51 to 36,
with 17 minutes and 41 seconds left in the second half.
Ball in the hands of Saginaw Valley here, going to be inbounding from the sideline.
Coming off their timeout, down 15 points.
Need to make a little bit of a comeback here.
Hillslow got all the momentum right now.
Yep.
Mauna hands of Mallander.
Out to Mickintosh.
Mikintosh trying to make a move.
Has to give it up.
Three-point shot by number 15.
And he misses.
Ball falls in the hands of Woodhams.
So Nico Newsom missing the three-point shot.
Chinoosky.
kicking it out to Woodhams.
Wittams, drives in.
And he makes a great move to get to the N-1.
Even more momentum now here for the Chargers.
53 to 36.
Hillsdale looks like they are running away with this game a little bit.
Good ball, fake by Woodhams.
a foul. Some substitutions for Saginaw here. Number two, Tris Nicholas checks in.
Yeah, he'll, Saginault trying to do anything, anything at all, just switch to momentum in their way,
calling the timeout and now putting their subs in as CJ Erion checks in for the Hillstall Chargers.
Currently leading the Chargers in points is number 30, Logan Beeson with 12,
has four three-pointers on the day, shooting 67%.
Woodham's makes us free throw.
So certainly 17 minutes left
And the score is 54 to 36
Hillsdale Chargers lead
All in the hands of SEAL
Seal with a step back, deep two-pointer
And does not make it
Ball
rebounded by
So it was rebounded by Beeston
Who was jumping out of bounds
Tried to throw it off the player of
Foot of Saginaw Valley
But steps out of balance before he can
Seal try to force a shot there
So ball being imbounded
By Saigonadeau Valley with 20 seconds left in the shot
McIntosh
takes a dribble
passes it out to seal
seal with rooter defending
seal tries to make a move
makes a spin move
takes a hard too but draws a foul
kind of a softer foul there but
rough thought that there was enough contact to make the call
good spin move by seal
creates separation
yeah seal is very athletic
already has dunked on
hills still today but
not a lot of momentum they need in their big momentum play like a dunk
for Saginaw Valley to have any chance of winning this game
Hillsdale currently up 18 as seal makes his first free throw
a Sagina Valley has struggled with free throws today but not that one right there
as seal makes the first feel taking his second shot
currently I believe leads the team in points
Hive with Mickintosh at 11, now 12 as he makes the second free throw.
Scores 54-38 Chargers lead.
I expect more press out of Sagina all this half since they're down.
Yeah, trying to play some quick offense, get some quick possessions in there.
Create some turnovers.
Yep.
Ball in the hands of Beeston for the Chargers, passes it out to Janowski.
Janowski makes a quick move.
Swing pass out to Woodhamson, he sinks it for three.
Hillsdale slowly pulling away right now.
Possession by possession.
Yep.
Williams brings the Chargers up to 19 point lead.
As a pass is stolen by CJ Erian.
Yerian with the dribble and he's going to get blocked
but there's going to be a foul.
So on the chase down was number 23, Elijah Maddingly.
And he is able to get enough of Yerian's arm to make him miss,
but of course he's going to draw the foul.
Big time steal by CJ.
Yep.
Force him into a, they were trying to get the five-second violation there, holding the ball too long,
and has to make a force a bad pass, and then CJ able to grab it out of the air and take it all the way down.
Unfortunately, though, going to miss the first free throw.
So score remains 57-38 Chargers League, 16 minutes left.
Dante Scott checks out of Saganol for Seals.
So you're going to check seal out of the game, who's one of their best athletes.
Hillsdale maybe looking to increase this lead with Seal not on the floor
as Hillsdale puts him another one point it is currently 20 point lead for the
Chargers with 16 minutes left in the second half Mikey McCollum checks on the game for the
chargers ball inbounded to the hand of Dantes Scott
Scott trying to make a move get a little switch but Sarian gets back on his defender
Yerian. It's fending Maddingley,
Maddingly with the ball.
Wow. And Mattingly draws the foul on C.J. Yarian.
So he's going to get a shooting foul and he's going to get two shots right here.
As we are going to go to a one minute timeout.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 1-1.7 FM.
The old ball game where we talk about the past of America's favorite pastime.
I'm Tate Christensen.
Today we talk about Jackie Mitchell,
one of the first and one of the only female baseball players in baseball history.
Mitchell was born on August 29th, 1913 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Growing up, Mitchell played many sports, including basketball, swimming, tennis, and baseball.
In her teenage years, the Mitchell family moved to Chattanooga,
where she joined a baseball school and scouts from the Chattanooga Lookouts saw her pitch.
In 1931, she signed a temporary contract with the Lookouts to play two exhibition games that year.
On April 2nd, 1931, in a game against the New York Yankees,
Mitchell, at just 17 years old, was put into pitch for the lookouts.
The first batter she faced was Babe Ruth.
She threw three pitches to him, two swings and misses, followed by a called third strike.
After Ruth, Lou Gehrig was up to bat.
Again, she took only three pitches to ring him up.
Many people are skeptical of this game, however, and think that it was staged or was a publicity stunt.
Following this game, Mitchell played baseball on and off until her official retirement from baseball in 1937.
This has been the old ball game on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
Hello and welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
Hillswood Chargers, men's basketball team
currently leads to Saginaw Valley State,
Ben's basketball team,
58 and its Division 2 matchup.
GMAG versus Gleak
competition here
as Sagina Valley
is currently going to be shooting two
free throws with Mattingly
and he misses the first free throw.
Another free throw miss for Saginaw Valley.
It's been the story of the game for Saginaw
missing free throws.
Yeah, I mean, it might be a 10-point game
which is, you know,
doesn't look too bad
early in a second half
but instead it's a 20-point game because of all
their missed free throws is he's going to actually make the second.
Now in 19-point game,
Hillsville charge a lead. Some pressure by Saginaw.
Yep. He'll easily beat the pressure by giving a little skip pass.
Charles Woodhams.
Ball up in the hands of Janowski.
Now playing a heavy man defense
and Janowski tries to pass to Glazer
but Glazer turns around right as the ball's coming to him
and the ball falls out of bounds.
and Saginaw Valley gets the ball.
So a rare turnover by the Hillsdale Chargers
without any pressure on them.
You can't do that.
So ball in the hands now of Dantes Scott.
Scott to Mattingly.
Out in the corner, the shot blocked by Ruder.
So Huckabee tried to get a three point, a corner three.
Corner three.
Corner three, but blocked by Joe Ruter.
Could close out by Joe Ruder.
So Hockoby is going to be inbounding from the corner.
17 seconds left in the shot clock.
Ball tipped down by Caleb Glazer, and the ball is going to go to the Chargers.
So the ball was tossed up by Matting Lee.
Glazer on the defense tips the ball down off the hands of Mattingly,
and now it's going to be Charger Basketball.
Janowski, leading the charge.
Out to Mikey McCollum.
Mikey McCollum, their big three-point shooter.
gives it down to Glazer. Glazer trying to take his man on.
Makes a move.
Kicks it back out to Mikey McCollum.
Who kicks it up to Janowski, who makes a great move.
Passing to Woodhams.
Some great ball movement in a three-pointer, and he's going to miss.
Good ball move by Hillsdale.
Couldn't get the three-point shot to go.
Yep.
A lot of passes, though, and able to find a wide-open shot,
and no dangerous passes.
You know, you see a lot of passes, and sometimes you see some dangerous one.
You're like, eh, but that was some great ball movement,
as they were all pretty wide-open passes there.
Some great ball movement.
some great off the ball movement by the charges.
Mekintosh is going to take a deep three contested.
Bad shot.
And he's going to miss.
Bad shot for Saginaw.
Did not need that.
That early into the play clock.
Up 58 to 39.
He'll still charges.
And the ball's tipped out of bounds by Mickintosh.
Good hustle by Mekintosh.
Yep.
Zanowski on the dribble,
tipped out of bounds by Mikintosh.
16 seconds left in the play clock.
So still a lot of time for the charges here.
seal checks back
checks back into the game
as well as number
I think is five
Maurice Anderson
yep so Sheila Anderson back into the game
ball in the hands of
inboundish of Joe Rueger
has there 10 seconds left on the play clock
Janowski
trying to make a move got to move quickly here
down to Glazer Glazer makes a move
takes a shot and he misses but
rebounded by Hillsdale so resets
the shot clock
ball in the hands of
Charles Woodham's down
Woodham's
Out to Janowski
Chonowski taking a couple dribbles
kicking it out to Mikey McCollum
six seconds left on the play clock is
McCollum might just double dribble there
by McCollum as he gets two hands on the ball
good defense by Saginaw there
pressure on the ball making Hillsdale work
for everything yep a lot of high pressure
jumping on passes
a lot more tight man defense
this half from Saginaw Valley than in the first half
didn't see a lot of that in the first half didn't see a lot of that in the
half at all. So a lot of off ball kind of matchup zones but seeing a man man look now.
As the ball's in the hands of Elijah Mattingly. Mattingly up to seal seal with a step back three
and it's going to be long ball in the hands of woodham so almost steps out of bounds they
will save it and get it out to Janowski now see up in a quick offensive possession
McComb tried to throw the pass bounce past a glazer but it's going to hit off the foot of Saginaw
Valley and go out of bounds.
So 13 minutes and 27 seconds left,
and we're looking at the Hillsdale Chargers
inbound pass by Charles Woodham's right here.
Ciel has been cold this half.
He was hot in the first half.
He has cooled off a little bit.
Yep.
Really lost momentum going into halftime.
Back up three by Joe Ruder,
and there is Joe Ruter's first three-pointer of the game.
First three-pointer of the season, right there.
Nice shot from Joe.
Yep.
Ball in the hands for Saginaw Valley.
Of number two.
Tristan Nichols.
Nichols.
Making a move on Mikey McCollum.
And he gets the layup, but he's heavily contested and he doesn't make it.
McCollum gets back down, but able to make a little comeback there.
As Woodham's is going to get the corner shot, but he doesn't like it.
So he dribbles and drives, he gets a wide-up and lay-up.
Great move there.
Nice drive.
finish. Yep, that's number 13. Dantes Scott, into the game. Scott, trying to make a move.
Scott has to give the ball up. Pull in the hands of Maddingly, Mattingly. Back to Seal. Seal.
Up to Nichols. Nichols. Back to Scott. There's four seconds left in a shot clock.
Scott makes a move but misses the reverse layup. Kind of a...
interesting foul there by Cole McQuinnney, you know, late in the shot clock,
getting up a tough reverse layup.
But like we said, they have really, really struggled from the free throw line.
So maybe it was better to get them to shoot two free throws.
Hillsdale has been fouling late into the shot clock.
Yep.
I think that that's one thing that they're going to want to clean up before next game is,
is that fouling late into the shot clock is he is going to make the first free throw.
and we're going to get two players checking in for the Chargers,
Logan Beeson and Eric Radicevich.
Hillsville Chargers currently up.
63 to 40 with 12 minutes and 16 seconds left to go in the second half.
A very comfortable lead.
Just got to stay in control.
Don't let off the gas too early.
He's going to make the second free throw against 63 to 41.
Ball in Boundage to McQuinnie.
heavy pressure by Saginaw.
Yep, Saginaw Valley is pressing hard.
With one he able to beat the press.
Get in the hands of Mikey McCollum.
Pass it out to Beeston.
Two three-point shooting guards, both in the game.
Radicevich.
Back in his guy down.
Makes a move.
Gets another hook shot off and he misses.
But McQuinnie with a rebound.
Great effort there by McQuinnie.
And Beeston up top of the arc three and he misses.
And you're going to get a jump ball.
So ball fouls in between Scott and Router, and we're going to get a jump ball there.
A great effort by Router to get the jump ball.
And going after rebounds, one offensive rebound there for the Chargers and one jump ball.
So currently 63 to 41, Hillsdale lead.
As you're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
This is The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group.
The year is 1842, and a patient is about to have a tumor,
surgically removed, but for the first time in history, it will be done painlessly. Born in
Macon County, Georgia, Dr. Crawford Long was a surgeon and a pharmacist who had experienced the
brutality of performing surgery without anesthesia. But all that was about to change. He administered
sephuric ether on a towel and had his patient breathe through it. And to the delight of everyone,
especially his patient, the operation was painless. Dr. Crawford Long had discovered anesthesia. In 1845,
he used that same method on his wife during childbirth.
And it must have worked because she bore him 12 children.

Hello and welcome back as the Hillsdale Men's Charger Basketball
takes on Saginaw Valley State Basketball
on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM here at Dawn Tibbett's Potter Arena.
Hillsdale Chargers currently up 63 to 41
in a very comfortable lead here for the chargers.
Saginaw Valley, though, with the ball.
Thoseville is pressing.
Those is currently pressing.
Sagina, able to get the ball in on time, though.
As Scott, with the pass off to Anderson.
Anderson to seal, seal with an easy reverse layup.
Very good pass.
You have a nice little backdoor cut there by seal.
And great pass by Anderson.
Easton with the ball.
Find McCollum. McCollum for deep three, and it rims out.
Very close shot there.
Falls in the hands of Saginaw Valley for the defensive rebound.
You hate to see in and outs.
Ball dribbled, drive, and foul.
So Scott is fouled by number 14.
Mikey McCollum.
His second, team fifth of the half.
So the chargers do have five fouls his half.
we have five fouls.
And the Saginaw Valley Cardinals only have two.
Hillsdale currently has a 20-point lead.
Scott's shooting two free throws.
Scott, going to make the first free throw.
Your high, as Woodham's is going to check into the game for Hillsdale.
Your high point scores for Saginaw Valley are currently
SEAL with 12 and Mickintosh with 11.
For the Chargers, you have Rooter with 13 and Beeston with 12 and Woodham's with 12.
Scott takes that second free throw sinks it.
Score 63 to 45.
Charger is going to have a problem inbounding the ball.
Steele.
Scott, easy pass to seal and steel gets another dunk.
You got some momentum now on that Saginaw Valley sideline.
Hills does not have to take care of the ball here.
Yep.
Inbound pass there.
Currently 63 to 47.
Hillsdale lead, but don't want to give up any momentum,
give them any chance of coming back in this game.
Because you're going to draw a foul.
Joe Ruder going to draw a foul for number five.
Maurice Anderson.
Kind of slow down the game here,
and Janowski's going to check back in.
Sagina, I'll try and get on a run here.
Does the lead down a little bit.
He'll still make sure to take care of that ball.
Ball inbounded to Janowski.
20 seconds on the play clock.
Tinooski, a little behind the back dribble, trying to make a move.
Pass out to Radisovic.
He gets somebody to jump on the three-point attempt.
Ruder going to go with the shot, going to get blocked, out of bounds,
and it's going to go off and remain Chargers basketball.
So ball bounced off seal, out of bounds.
Good ball moving by Hillsdale.
Yep.
It's got to capitalize.
Router really wanted that foul, but not going to get it.
Three seconds left for the Chargers on the play clock.
three, two, Logan Beeston shot, and he makes it.
Fadeaway, jumped up, three-pointer.
He's been on fire today.
Yep, currently leads to charters with 15 points now.
There's going to be a foul call.
Questionable foul call on Mowarder.
So Ashton Jannowski trying to punch the ball out of his hands as he's turned around,
and Janowski's going to draw the foul, his second.
So nobody in foul trouble really.
here for either team yet.
It's going to be a three-point shot by Anderson.
He's going to miss for Saginaw Valley.
So Hillsdale are going to get that basketball back.
Up 1966, 47, with nine minutes left to go, 10 minutes left to go in the second half of play.
Radisson is going to turn the ball over.
Ball ends up in the stands of Seal.
Seal, making a little spin move.
He turns the ball over and there's going to be a foul.
I don't know about that.
And the coaching staff for Hillsdale,
not very happy with that one.
Second year head coach,
second year head coach, Kevin Bradley,
many year assistant head coach,
not very happy with the call right there
against Joe Ruter.
He'll still really needing to slow down the pace here.
They have a very comfortable lead,
and they just cannot allow Saginaw Valley
to heavily cut into that.
As Seal is currently going to be shooting
a one-and-one free throw.
So very important set of free throws right here.
seal with the first
he's going to miss so he's not even
even getting to second attempt
as the ball ends up in the hands
of Janowski now
the Arian with the ball of the 610 center
passes out to Woodhams
Wudams
gets a steal
and they're looking for a foul and there isn't one
and on the other end
Tristan Nichols with an easy basket
on the fast break
Woodham tried to force something there
that wasn't there
please do a turnover.
Janowski almost loses the ball there, gets it back.
Very calm.
Hillsdale needs to relax here a little bit.
Just go on this possession.
You need to score here.
throws it away, almost throws the way.
Great grab, great pass down to Charles Woodhams, though, from Janowski.
So Janowski with a great pass on an almost errant pass.
Nice cut by Woodham there.
And then, yep, just right down to Woodham's for an easy layup.
Hillsdale, 68 to 49, kind of slowing down that Saginaw.
Valley Memental. Ball in the hands of Molitor.
Molliter.
Too easy. Out to Scott.
Scott with an easy floater.
Easy floater, like a six-foot floater.
Sagina Valley is still pressing here.
Fall in the hands of Wudham's, though,
because they're going to do a little skip pass.
They cut the lead to 17.
Yep.
And Logan Beeston with another fadeaway three,
and it's going to fall in.
Off the back of the rim.
You know how it just kind of bricks and dies,
and then it falls.
in his threes are falling today that is for sure three-pointer for Saginaw Valley no good scott
with a miss rebound Beeston Bistin Bistin passing out to boltie boltie down to Janowski
Ginooski trying to make something happen real quick here as the charges kind of speed up the pace
and now they're slowing it down getting a play set up ball on the hands of the aerian
Yerian out to Wadams Wadams to Janowski jennowski taking a dribble in Bison wants the ball
Yep, going to kick out, you're going to take a fade away shot, though.
Rebound Wattombeaston.
Beeston for a deep three.
He's going to miss.
And rebound Saginaw Valley.
That was a big heat check there.
He really wanted that shot.
Understandably so.
He's hot right now.
He is hot right now.
Very hot for the charges.
Currently is 18 points.
Leads the charges as a red shirt freshman in his first college game.
On the hands of Seal.
Seal.
Passes it up.
Anderson for three.
Anderson for three.
in a very rhythm three, but not a lot of energy
on that Saginaw Valley sideline.
We're going to get a timeout here from the Chargers.
Full timeout, so we're going to be a full minute.
And you're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor,
this is Minute of Honor.
Here's Jinnah Suhita.
On February 10th, 1970, near Fuaklong, Vietnam,
specialist John Baca was setting up an ambush with his unit.
When one of the tripwires detonated in the jungle ahead,
A platoon was sent to investigate.
Soon they came under intense enemy fire from concealed positions along the trail.
As they prepared to engage the enemy, a fragmentation grenade was thrown in the midst of the patrol.
Baca said later, at that moment he thought of his mother.
He'd called her only the day before, telling her that he was working in the post office, safe from action on the front lines.
But with the lives of his friends hanging in the balance, Baca acted quickly.
With complete disregard for his own safety, Baca used his steel helmet and his own body to cover the grenade and absorb the lethal fragments.
His conspicuous gallantry at the risk of his own life directly saved the lives of eight men.
For the extraordinary courage and selflessness he displayed on February 10th, 1970,
specialist John Baca was awarded the Medal of Honor.
This is Minute of Honor on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM,
as the Hillsdale Charters currently lead by 17, 71 to 54,
with seven minutes and seven seconds left in the second half of play.
I'm Evan Mick, here with Cole Canter.
Cole? What do you think is today's game so far for the Chargers?
A lot of threes as expected for the Hillsville Chargers and no, they're falling today.
They're falling today, especially for Logan Beeston.
First game is a, as a college player, red shirt freshman, so he didn't play a single game last year.
And he has 18 points.
Six three-pointers made for him on 10 shots, shooting 60% from the three-point line.
As the ball is inbound to McQuinnney, passed up to Joe Rooder.
So, Arian kind of blocks to the pass, but he gets it back.
Pass out to Woodham's.
Woodham's to McCollum.
McCollum fade away three, and he misses.
Another big three-point shooter, Mikey McCollum, their biggest three-point shooter
last year, but it's going to miss that shot right there.
Ball in the hands of Aucabe, who makes the three-pointer cutting the lead to 14.
I like to see Hillsdale drive to the basketball here with this lead that they got.
Threes aren't really necessary right now.
Call him the game down a little bit, but a ball in the hands of Joe Ruter.
Probably your best slasher, biggest slasher, guy who's going to drive to the basket.
Pass up to McQueen.
McQueenie for three and he's going to make it.
Sure.
I mean, I know you're saying don't shoot threes and I get it, but when they keep falling.
So McQuinnie there with a great three-point shot and a great three-point make.
They're going to call a foul on C.J. Yerian.
So CJ Yerian's fifth foul of the game today.
So they're going to have to pull on.
I did not realize that Yerian had four fouls.
I did not either.
Not a lot of fouls overall by the team for C.J.
Yerian.
A little bit upset, Yerian, as he comes off the floor.
But maybe rightfully so, a couple of softer fouls.
And I think that he got the foul earlier of another player.
So Yerine comes off a little bit upset.
still a big lead here by the Chargers up 17 points 74 to 57 with six minutes left as a free throw is going to be missed
either one-on-one free throw and he misses the front end of it and so rebound Hillsdale Chargers with this big lead get the ball back
McQuiney with another three-pointer but this one's going to miss not quite going to fall wide up and three-pointe there for McQuiney
just can't quite get it three-pointer for Sagina Valley is going to miss Huckabee
Very quick shot for Saginaw.
Yeah. Saganau, clearly trying to speed up the pace, get a lot of three-pointers in.
This is when you need it.
Six minutes left, down 17 points.
You kind of need a miracle.
Start putting the ball up, see what falls.
And it diving on the ball, turnover from the chargers,
as McQuinnie tried to dive on it, the pass from Glazer, which was an errand pass.
Can't quite get there.
And on the other end, Zelensky is going to make the layup, the refrages.
first layup.
Ball pass in the hands of Cole McQuinnney up to Router.
Ruter.
Making a move.
Just trying to slow the game down, take a little bit more of that shot clock.
He'll still is.
Ball in the hands now of Mikey McCollum.
McCollum trying to make a move on Zalinski.
Not much left.
On the shot clock, six seconds.
You want to take as much shot on the time down,
but you want to still get a shot off as McCollum shoots a three
and he's going to make it a perfect possession there
by the Hillstill Chargers if you asked me.
Nice pass by Joe Ruter,
leads to a wide open corner three from Mikey McCollum.
Very nice possession for Hillsdale.
Yep, take all 30 seconds on the shot clock
and still get a wide open look.
On the other end, ball in the hands of McCabe.
Huckabee, passing the ball up to Scott.
Not a lot of time left.
They need to go quick.
Nine seconds left in the shot clock.
and he makes the two-point shot.
Sagina Valley, calling a full-timeout here as Hillsdale currently leads 77 to 61.
So we're going to go to full-timeout here, one-minute timeout,
just listen to Radio for Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and I'm here to tell you that brand names are capitalized.
This probably sounds obvious.
Of course, you're going to capitalize Purell or Windows.
But what about less obvious brand names that have also become popular words like weed eater,
hydroflask, Hoover, and so on?
In formal published writing, these words, even though commonly used, still need to be capitalized.
There's some wiggle room with this.
Some words are just so commonly used and so rarely associated with brands that it just
looks really weird to capitalize them.
It would probably seem strange if jacuzzi or Velcro or trampoline were randomly
capitalized in the middle of a sentence, especially since most people don't know these are brands.
You can be flexible with these words, but generally it's best to follow the rule, capitalize brand names.
That's your Grammar Minute. Visit Thegrammer Minute.com for more tips and tricks.
Hello and welcome to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.1.1.7 FM. Hillsdale Men's Charger Basketball,
as Hillsdale currently leads 77 to 61 with four minutes and one second left in the second half of play.
So 16 point lead, four minutes left.
What are you doing here?
What's the game plan going in, Cole?
I am trying to chew as much clock as possible and find a good shot.
Don't want to take any bad shots here.
You're up 16.
Then play some good defense on the other side.
Yep, slow it down.
Keeping in the man defense?
Yeah.
Keep it in the man defense.
So Saginaw Valley, probably as expected, you're pressing here.
everybody's trying to find a man
Joe Ruder inbound the ball
to Janowski, no problems there
Rutter able to cross half
back to Janowski again
as they are setting up an offense
which clearly
is more relaxed
Woodham's with a drive in the layup
when you find a lane you take it
nice bucket yep
great dribble drive there by Woodham's
Very, very veteran, very calm move.
Ball in the hands now of Nico Newsom for Saginaw Valley.
Nico Newsom with a deep three air balls.
And the crowd is letting him hear at least the crowd that's from the dorm they call Simpson here.
Errant pass there by Glazer.
Falls in the hands of Newsom.
Newsom up to McIntyre.
McGintyre, making it's taking some dribbles.
It picks up his dribble, though.
passes it off to Zelensky.
Vagintage probably going to try to find a shot here.
Yeah, you're trying to get the ball in the hands of your best player,
but running too much time left down on the shot clock.
And a block by Router.
And he's going to clap a little bit, kind of up in the air,
but Minkentire knows that that's for him.
So five seconds left in the shot clock here for Saginaw Valley.
You're going to look to get a quick three in,
currently down 79 to 61,
with two minutes and 50 seconds left.
Things don't look good in the first place.
Nope.
Seal with the ball.
Three seconds left in the shot clock.
No foul there by Hillsdale.
Good job.
Tough shot.
Rebound by Caleb Glazer.
A great job.
Help defense by Caleb Glazer.
Just staying straight up and down.
Don't draw a foul.
He can make the lap.
He just can't get the end one.
Ball in the hands of Janowski.
Janowski trying to dribble out a little bit of that clock.
Dribble a handoff to Woodham's.
up to McCollum.
Now nine seconds left in the shot clock.
He'll still maybe going to look for a shot here.
Five seconds left in the shot clock.
And he's going to take a fadeaway jumper and he's going to miss.
That's okay though.
You took time off the clock.
Took the whole 30 seconds.
Currently up 18 points with two minutes and eight seconds left.
That's what you're really looking for at this point.
Yep.
Chew the clock.
Yep.
And now they're playing a great defensive possession here,
making them chew the clock.
And almost a turnover.
Ball in the hands of seal.
really running this clock down all the way down to nine seconds.
Five seconds on the shot clock and he fumbles it.
Three seconds on the shot clock and he's going to get fouled.
No reason to foul there.
Yeah, no reason to foul there, but you did what you wanted.
You drew the clock down.
A minute and 46 seconds left.
Two free throws here for Justin Nichols.
So, going to need an 18-point comeback if Saginaw Valley wants to pull this.
went out but looking pretty good for the chargers right here just play calm play real slow basketball just
you just got to get the ball imbounded honestly at this point that's the biggest thing you are not going to
have any problems as long as you get the ball imbounded and get it across half nichols makes the second
free throw so 17 point game or 16 point game now for the chargers and glazer with the dunk
wide open keel of glazer very nicely done by hilldale sagano valley trying to jump the
pass. Can I do it and have a wide open Keelb Glaser down the floor for a dunk? So an 18 point
lead as we're kind of wrapping this one up for the Chargers. Ball in the hands of Mickentire.
McGintyre for a deep three and he's going to miss and Caleb Glazer is going to get the rebound.
So a minute and 15 seconds left, Hillsdale up 18 points.
As we're going to get a timeout by Hillsdale to get some subs in.
Yep. This is going to be a one-minute timeout.
It's going to be a...
Actually, give us a second.
I don't know if they're actually going to the timeout.
Might be 30 seconds.
You're going to get a minute timeout.
Hillsdale's up 18 with a minute and eight seconds left.
You're listening to Radio for Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Welcome to the old ball game, where we talk about the past of America's favorite past time.
I'm T. Christensen.
Today we talk about the connection between baseball and Thanksgiving.
At one point, baseball, not football, was the American sport of Thanksgiving.
The games played on Thanksgiving Day were not entirely organized events, but many clubs
would come together to play to mark the end of the baseball season.
As the evening standard once wrote, quote, in the afternoon, there were several scrub games,
that is, games which the various clubs unite and play together.
The regular ball season is considered to close with Thanksgiving, though many games
will doubtless be played throughout the winter when the weather will permit, end quote.
In 1887, a New York Times article advertised at Thanksgiving.
day game to be played on the polo grounds.
Later, the Times cited 1887 as the origin of indoor baseball,
which eventually morphed into the game of softball.
Yale and Princeton began playing American football on Thanksgiving,
and that tradition stuck around.
As baseball became more organized,
it arranged for its season to come to an end in October.
This has been the old ball game on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
So the Hillstall Chargers,
should you're listening to Radio Freelesdale 1.1.7 FM,
as the Hillsdale Chargers currently lead 81 to 7.
63 in men's basketball.
Getting some subs in.
Connor Stonebreaker number 34,
Jacob Meyer, number 12,
and Michael App, number five.
And then you have Caleb Glazer and Cole McQuinnney.
So ball into the hands of Michael App.
As this game is pretty much wrapped up
a great game for the Chargers today.
Pass out to Colma Quiney.
It's going to take a dribble,
give it up to App.
App.
Taking a couple dribbles.
just taking the time off the shot clock.
Four seconds left in the shot clock.
McQuinney looking to make a move.
And the ball does not hit the rim,
but Saginaw Valley gets the rebound,
so it does not matter.
A seal on the other end is able to make the layup.
I thought he's going to dunk that one.
Yep.
Ball into the hands of McQuinnie.
It's a little bit too far away, kind of falling over.
McQuinnie gets it across half pretty easily.
Hands a stonebreaker.
Up to Apt, trying to take some time off the shot clock.
A stone breaker is going to dribble in.
Kick out. Aaron passes. The ball is going to go down.
Ball in the hands of number two is he's going to go for the layup. I thought he was going to go for the dunk.
Tristan Nichols with the easy layup is 21 seconds left on the shot clock.
And as long as Hillsdale gets this ball inbounded, which they do against the press.
Sagina Valley is still pressing unexpectedly.
And we're going to get a timeout here by Hillsdale.
They were not probably expecting the press by Saginaw Valley.
So Hillsdale up 12 with 16.4 seconds left to go.
Not a lot left.
We're going to get a 30-second timeout.
We're going to stay with you here.
But just giving you some stats for the game.
Saginaw for Saginaw Valley.
Seal led the team with 16 points.
And McIntosh, second place is 11,
although he had not scored really in those last 15 minutes.
Yeah, I don't think he didn't score much in the second half.
On the other end, Hillsdale Charters, led by redshirt freshman in his first game ever,
Logan Beeston, 18 points.
Charles Williams had six.
team and Joe Ruder added
13 and then
McCollum and Janowski had
9 and 8. A lot of guys scored for Hillsdale
which is good. Yep. On the offensive
rebounding in Joe Rooder had two offensive rebounds
which is big. Assisting
Janowski had 6 assists
and then Charles Wooden said 5
some great passing, great ball movements
and then Janowski, McCollum
and Yerian all had a steal
and then Joe Ruder
two blocks. Big block
two blocks. Two blocks.
But the story of the game really for the Chargers is getting to see a great first outing from Logan Beeston.
The red shirt freshman who has never played a college game before.
Getting his first, not only playing time, but first start and he shoots 60% from the three-point line going six for ten.
That Stoneberger is going to end on the ball, but it's going to be turned over right away.
Saginaw Valley, but blocked by Caleb Glazer.
So Hillsdale currently up 12, 11.6 seconds left.
Saginaw Valley
inbound's the ball
up to number 15
double defended
and a block
by Michael App
Stonebreaker
with the ball
just dribbling it out
two seconds left
one second left
and that's the ball game
end score
is your Hillsdale Chargers
lead 81 to 69
against Saginaw Valley
State Cardinals
so a great game by the Cardinals
or a great game by the Chargers
a big win, season opener, really getting some momentum going into this season.
What do you think, Cole?
What do you think of the game overall?
Great win by the Chargers, three-point shots.
We're falling tonight, as we expected for a big three-point shooting team.
Good first outing for the boys.
Yep, good first outing for the boys.
And come out to the game tomorrow as the Hillsville Charger football team.
We'll be taking on the Tiffin Dragons at 1 p.m.
down at Frank Muddywater Stadium.
And if you have never heard of it,
