Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to Objectively Correct. Probably. We're your host, Olivia Henson. And Chauvin Weed. And this is our silly show where we take five minutes to rank our top five of a random category. So join us as we share our hot takes on things that don't really matter because it's fun to have opinions. Let's list. Welcome back, guys.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Today we are doing top five national days. And we are talking about like the ones where it's like national squirrel day. National Spark like a Dog Day. Yeah, National Throw Your Short Friend Day. These are just silly days that bring a little bit more whimsy into everything. single day of the year. And the thing is, is that there's, there's some major holidays. We love the major holidays, but they are too few and far between, and we need some silly days to, like, mix it up in between them. And so that's, we're presenting you with a couple ones that we think are good for that.
Starting point is 00:00:47 So in number five, we have National Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day. This is a real day celebrated on November 8th, guys. And here's the thing. This is just a national holiday for something that people do regardless, especially if you live in Sown, that there are people, we walk in, it's a nice open floor plan. tell that somebody decided to celebrate National Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day. Yeah, they celebrated a little early, but with tilapia, so they nailed it. It encourages creativity in the kitchen, you know? Gain a new life skill. Yeah, cook some curry up.
Starting point is 00:01:15 And in number four, we have National Dinosaur Day. Which is on June 1st. We need to pay some respect for those who have come before us. We are like the new and upgraded, like, species of the earth. But like, they are the mighty who are fallen brothers. Yeah, exactly. And really, like, this is a school where we're all about our Western heritage. If you think about it hard enough, dinosaurs are just our, like, everything heritage.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Our Western heritage are our founding fathers are velociraptors. Yep. So moving right along, we have number three is Gorilla Suit Day. This is again a real day celebrated on January 31st. And you know, you'll know who is actually a National Day respecter based on... No, it's perfect. Based on those of them who are wearing a gorilla suit. You can't be like low-key celebrating National Gorilla Suit Day.
Starting point is 00:02:01 You either are or you aren't celebrating this holiday, and I love that. Also, it's just like celebrated at this school every time Simpson has a walk down to anything, which is kind of glorious. If Simpson shows up to an event, dude, it is National Girl Assume Day. Are you kidding me? Next is National Squirrel Appreciation Day celebrated on January 21st. And here's the thing about this day is that, like, okay, we like squirrels. They're okay.
Starting point is 00:02:25 But I think that National Squirrel Appreciation Day being a thing necessitates a National Squirrel Hatred Day, which I'm even more on board with. Yeah, especially if you go to Hillsdale, you know. We have like our campus is overrun. Rampant. They run rampant. They have too much power. I think there, when I lived in Olds and I walked up that hill trudging up there to classes,
Starting point is 00:02:44 there was this one oak tree where I think a certain squirrel, I don't know what I did to him or someone close to him, but he, like with perfect aim would nail a chestnut, like just nail me in the head with a chestnut. Like every day, we had a street going. I can't retaliate. My hand eye coordination is not that good. So I was just helpless. It was me v. Squirrel, and the squirrel won every time.
Starting point is 00:03:04 You know how you humiliating that is? I think that, like, freshman year is really the year where you realize how bad the squirrels are. Because I'm telling you, I would, like, walk to class, and there would be squirrels, and I would be like, oh, I'll get close to them, and they'll, like, run away. They never did. I have a fear of squirrels. I was attacked by squirrels when I was a kid at my grandma's house because she said, hey, go feed these squirrels. Here's a little treat for them. Yeah, you know what treat the squirrels wanted?
Starting point is 00:03:30 me. No, that's the thing with squirrels is that they have no fear. Like a chipmunk, it'll scurry right away from you as soon as it hears you coming. A squirrel will run at you. It will get right up close and personal. And my grandma would be really mad at me if I didn't mention this, but the squirrels at her house have been demolishing all of her, like, outside decorations. She has like little, like, felt dolls and stuff on her porch. And they have been shredding them and stealing the inside stuffing to make their nest. So not cool. Add that to the list of grievances. Yeah, we're over squirrels. Anyway, moving right along to number one. is National Play the Recorder Day. Big day. On March 15th. And here's the thing. I have qualms with
Starting point is 00:04:07 the fact that the recorder is just used as a gateway instrument. Why is the record? No, it's ridiculous. Why is the recorder introduced to you as a first grader in music class and you play it for like two days to like learn about like notes and music and stuff? And then you never see a recorder again in your entire life. We need more awareness and respect for it. And if you want to join us, me and Chavon have recently purchased tiny little like toy recorders from Walmart. Guys, they were like a dollar 25 cents. Join the movement. This is our next one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:31 They're pocket-sized. They're backpack-sized. Now for a quick recap. In fifth place, we had National Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day. In fourth place is Dinosaur Day. In third was Gorilla Suit Day. Second is National Squirrel Appreciation Day, followed by Middle Term National Squirrel Hatred Day. And in first place, it's Play the Recorder Day, objectively the best day.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Objectively the best day. You know what? We're not saying we're totally right, but we are saying we're objectively correct. Probably. On Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. Bye.
