Sh-Rumor has it.
Rumor has it.
Rumor has it.
Rumor has it, rumor has it, rumor has it.
Did you hear?
I saw, she told me, rumor has it.
You'll never believe.
You're listening to Rumor Has It with Addy Longnaker.
Hello, hello, and welcome to Rumor Has It.
I'm your host, Addy Longnicker, and today we are talking about some boiling hot tea.
In 1916, Rasputin had been charading as a monk for years.
He had earned the good graces of the Tsar and the Tsarina,
and had almost single-handedly crippled the nation with his bad counsel
and his inexperienced ability to lead after he convinced the Tsars to basically let him take over.
Enemies of the Tsar hated him and his false prophetic claims,
and he was seen as a puppeteer controlling the royals, especially the Tsarina.
On December 30th, a group of nobles decided he had gained too much control and decided to end his reign.
First, they tried to poison him, but he showed no signs of distress, even after consuming large amounts of cyanide.
Next, they tried to shoot him with a revolver.
Still, he survived and was able to counterattack his would-be assassin.
Finally, they tied him up and threw him in a frozen river where he eventually succumbed to hypothermia.
It was too late for the nobles.
The Bolshevik revolution was soon to begin
and the government would be overthrown
despite the removal of Rasputin.
But the treachery of Rasputin,
his charlatan control over the Tsarina
and his refusal to die
all make this quite the cup of historical tea.
Until next time,
this has been rumor happened,
where we serve the tea of history boiling hot
on Radio Free Hillsdale
101.7 FM. Thank you for listening.
