You are listening to Soundtracks for the Skyline, a genre of music for each city.
I'm Lily Faye Kramer on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
Irish music is most recognizable through traditional Celtic Jigs, Reels, and Fiddle Toots.
As the most populated city and the capital of Ireland, Dublin boasts a multitude of Irish culture.
Located on the south bank of the River Liffey, the Temple Bar District has some of the oldest and most established Irish pubs.
where traditional Celtic bands play Irish folk tunes.
Apart from Dublin's traditional music scene that has slowly evolved throughout hundreds of years,
Grafton Street is quite the opposite.
It is not uncommon to hear new musicians busking on Grafton Street, playing cover songs or original music.
In Ed Sheeran's song, Galway Girl, he mentions meeting a girl on Grafton Street outside of the bar,
which is not uncommon.
You, too, the alternative rock punk band, has played in Grafton Street's annual Big Byrd.
on Christmas Eve, which is a charity event that raises money for the homeless. Dublin is
unique for its music scene and that it preserves Ireland's traditional Celtic music, while also
being a leader in the pop and rock genres. I'm Lollifay Kramer, and this has been Soundtracks for the
Skyline on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
