Welcome to This, That and the Other.
On Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM, where we chat about literally everything from movies to healthy recipes to the hottest of takes.
Starring Addie Seism and Chloe Pierce.
So this week, Chloe and I sat down and while we watched the entire series of his and hers.
I say the entire series.
It's really just, what is it?
I think it's like six episodes.
Six episodes one season.
Yeah.
But it was a really good like thriller, murder mystery.
so if like that's your vibe, this is definitely for you.
We both really enjoyed it.
Yes.
It was so crazy.
Literally, you think it's someone else every episode.
Like, you never know what's going on.
It's literally awesome.
So a little bit about it.
So when a woman is murdered in her small town, one of the main characters, Anna, who is
like covering the case comes to town and is like kind of coming from.
hiding like she she like she like she kind of just dropped off the face of the earth so now she's like
back in her hometown and everyone's like she's back she's back why is she back yeah and you like learn
why she was gone for so long but then like the main detective jack harper he's like the main
character and he is always just like a little suspicious but you can like never really tell
what's going on with him because it's like you know he probably didn't do it but at the same time like
he's definitely involved somehow. So that part's kind of crazy. Yeah. You don't really know whose side
to be on. So that's why it's so good. Yeah. I literally feel like almost everyone is just like an
unreliable source. Like you literally. So many ops everywhere. No, literally. And also the end literally has
so many twists. Yeah. It was crazy. Like they came at you so fast. You couldn't even like digested.
I felt like. Yeah. But it was good. Yeah. But it was kind of like boom, boom, boom.
Yeah. I don't want to say like any spoilers. But in the end.
And definitely.
But it's quick and awesome.
But I'm going to give you a spoiler.
No, not really.
But basically, like the end with the double plot twist,
it's like you think it's one thing plot twist.
And then like two seconds later, you get hit with another.
And literally it's like, oh my gosh.
Chloe didn't like the second one, didn't you not?
No, I didn't.
I think they should have just stuck with the first one.
So honestly, I kind of did predict like the second plot twist.
I said it so early on.
I was like, what if it's, it's low-key's so unpredictable.
and Chloe nailed it.
And then she was like, wait, I don't actually like this.
I literally thought that was like the most far-fetched, like, guess as well,
because this individual seems so innocent.
What?
And yeah.
So you guys will have to let us know.
Watch it and then let us know what plot twist you like or if you felt like there was too many
or if you liked the second one and you can debate with Chloe.
I liked the second one, but it was just, it was.
was just a lot. I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. Why would you rate it? Like on a scale one to 10.
I would, I would say, I would give it an eight or a seven and a half probably. Okay. Yeah. That's where
I'm at. I would say like an eight out of ten. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like it's only six episodes. So you can
only dive into it so much. They're not really given there that much to work with. But it was good because
you can binge it pretty in a week. That's what we did. I was going to say at the same time,
episodes like let's get this thing moving. Yeah, that's true. I am very, I have commitment issues to TV shows.
And if it's over like 10 episodes, I'm not getting through it. So this was at least good for that case.
Yeah, that's so true. I am not. I could sit down for like an eight season, but I had to watch this on my own because Addy won't watch them with me.
Yeah, we started a new, new show, a new thriller. What's it called? Yesterday we started. We were liars.
We were liars. So we'll have an update for you guys on that probably.
How many, how many episodes is that?
I think like eight.
Okay.
So we can still, we can finish that one at least.
Yeah.
I've already seen it.
Oh, yeah, she's already seen it.
I haven't seen it.
And she was like appalled by the fact that I haven't seen it.
So she's really hyping it up.
I thought we had watched it already.
Okay, well, stay updated for that.
And we'll let you know next week.
Okay.
Now that brings us into pop culture.
What is going on this week?
Well, kind of a lot.
Well, honestly, this was more last week's news.
but hit us with the Hollywood oh yeah well first of all Bruno Mars his new song
just my oh so good and he's going on tour as well that would be that would be a great I've heard
he's like an amazing performer dude he can dance so well it's so impressive he's I looked this up the
other day he's 40 years old no way wait I think let me actually look that up because that might be
I'm almost positive I was like are you serious okay but if you think about it we've honestly like
grown up with him. Like, I feel like he's always had a new song at every stage of my life. I remember
Uptown Funk took over my middle school career. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, I was going to have a
all-star game if that was what I was listening to. That's so true. What were the, his songs with
Cardi B to, um, I like it. He's in that? Yeah. I like it like that. That one. I like it like
it like that. I think. What? Wait. Maybe I'm thinking of finesse, but then like those kind of came out.
Okay, wait. This is on the topic of Bruno Mars, actually, because I need to know, we need to debunk this or not.
Was he, oh, what? He's not in it. Okay, I was going to say, what? I totally pull that out of nowhere.
Okay, maybe I'm thinking of finesse. He is in that one. Okay, yeah, no, he is in that one.
Okay, anyway, let's debunk. Was he actually in debt in Las, like, in Vegas? I have,
No idea. I don't understand how because literally all he has to do is like show his face and he
could make a million dollars. Like I'm somehow he got so in debt gambling in Vegas that Vegas
kept him there and like made him perform to like earn out of his debt like pay his debt back
via performance. Wait, are you serious? That's I no I mean I don't know. That's why someone needs
to debunk me because that's what I've been seeing and I don't really care so I didn't really look into it.
I've just heard that around the streets.
Okay, maybe we'll have to follow up on that.
Because I feel like I briefly saw that, but that was like kind of a while ago.
Yeah?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
So he must have his freedom because he's releasing music.
Yeah, and going on tour and set the record for, I think, most tickets sold in one day.
Yeah, what's the tour called and when is it?
The romantic tour.
So he's coming to Detroit on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th for a concert at Fordfield.
starting at 7 p.m. both nights. So if you're looking for some Bruno Mars. That's how we can celebrate
graduation. May 9th and May 10. Shut up. Literally skip graduation to go see Bruno Mars.
Okay, please fund this episode so that Chloe and I can go to Bruno Mars. No, literally. Okay,
a little bit more pop culture. So randomly the other day, this is another like debunk. I have
no idea if this is true or not. But I literally saw this video of
the Golden Globes being on like a third strip of the highway in like a tent. So I would just
love to know if that's true or not. If that doesn't say Hollywood facade, I don't know what does.
No, literally. I'm like, you guys are all millionaires. And we can't afford a nice like convention
center. Like we could hit the DeVos Center, Green Rapids, like the Coliseum in Fort Wayne,
literally anything. That's not the side of the road. Host of volleyball tournament on Friday and
host of Golden Globes on Saturday. Literally.
I just thought that was crazy.
But speaking of Golden Globes, I also saw people were pretty upset with J-Lo in the glam bot situation.
So apparently she, like, walks up to the glam bot and literally says, like, no words.
And the guy is, like, being so nice.
She's like, all right, J-Lo, like, come over here.
You're going to turn this way.
Like, do your thing.
Literally just, like, goes, straight-faced.
No emotion.
Walks off.
I feel like she's had so many controversies.
still like mean girl moments that it's like you can't even cancel her at this point because it's
just who she is.
Haven't they all?
Honestly, that's like Blake lively too.
Yeah.
So bad.
Yeah.
So that's interesting.
And then apparently some stuff came out about the guy who actually like runs the glam bot and
everyone like doesn't feel bad for him anymore because they're like he's mean too.
Society.
Pick aside people.
I'm tired of this.
I know.
So annoying.
Cancel this.
Cancel that.
I know.
We're probably going to get canceled after this episode.
No one.
I don't care.
Okay, well, another thing that Chloe and I did this weekend was we're really tapping into our health and wellness through recipes, which is when you want a sweet treat, but you don't want the sweetness and sugar of a sweet treat.
You resort to a mockery sweet treat, which usually involves cottage gs in some aspect.
So true.
So true.
Wait, speaking of, I literally saw this thing in my social media that was like,
a sweet treat has never let me down.
Like when I was like going through it, cottage cheese wasn't there for me.
And I was like a yes it was.
Most certainly yes it was because the amount of things you can make out of cottage cheese is insane.
It should be studied.
Facts.
We always have cottage cheese in our fridge.
But this week we made cottage cheese cookie dough.
Low key success.
Yeah, I would say it was a success.
I would give it like, it adds it?
And there were not many ingredients.
in it? No, so it was one pound of cottage cheese, which literally sounds like so. What? What?
Is that not like a ton of cottage cheese? We made a half batch. Okay, still. So that two teaspoons
of vanilla, one fourth cup maple syrup, a half a cup of protein powder, two cups of almond flour, and some
chocolate chips, which you can just add as many as you want. But we made a half batch. And I
I will say it sort of does kind of take the form of whatever protein battery you use, but I thought it was so good.
It's also one of those things that you eat it and you're like, okay, this was not as good as I thought it was going to be.
But then you take a second bite and you're like, okay.
And then a third and you're like, yes.
I can get behind it.
Yes.
So don't be like sad when you take your first bite, okay?
We've all been there.
You got to give it a few bites.
Yeah.
And you know what?
I know they're always saying like, oh, like it tastes the same as cookie dough.
Let's be real. Nothing tastes the same as Cookido.
All right. Guys, okay, we're not going to find the exact alternative, but this is a healthy little
snack. Exactly. The texture, it's like a little more sticky, but like texture's kind of there.
Yeah. So we made the mistake of, we obviously, we didn't eat it all in one sitting. And so we put it in the
we put it in the fridge, just in a bowl unwrapped. And the next day it was pretty crisp, like pretty
Yeah. Pretty hard in the wrong way, not like in a good way. So don't do that. Make sure you wrap it up because it will go bad pretty fast. Yeah. I mean, I'm sure it would have been fine if we put it in Tupperware, but... Yeah. Maybe any type of closed concealed container.
Yeah. So don't make that mistake. But other than that, what would you rate this one?
This was our first one, guys. So I'm going to go...
Is it bad if I say seven and a half again? I just gave something else seven and a half.
I think I might have already said my rating earlier, but this is my official.
8.2. But I don't know. Something about it. Like I really, sometimes I just think about it.
I think it just depends on the protein powder like you said. And we kind of have to experiment.
You said you have better protein powder at home. Yes. I made it with herbal life vanilla protein powder,
like what they have at healthies. And it was so, so good. Which I still thought it was good.
but there it's like a 8.5.
Oh, 0.3 higher.
I know.
So good, guys.
It's literally 0.3 higher than this.
You have to try it.
If it's not an actual sweet tree, 0.3 is...
I don't know if we'll ever actually find one that's a 9.
Because then it's just going to be...
Like, we're comparing it to something so good.
Yeah.
Maybe we should have gone lower.
Yeah.
There's a sweet tree.
Okay, so we're just very invalid sources.
So you guys...
have to do it again. Let us know your ranking and let us know if you have any other recipes
that you're like, oh, you guys have to try this for our healthy journey.
Spring break hates to see us coming back.
All right. Now it's time for some hot takes because let me tell you, Addy and I, we could talk
about this for days. Yeah, we are the queens of hot takes. For real. Well, first one, I experienced
firsthand here at Hillsdale.
So I would consider this a Hillsdale hot take.
I absolutely hate it.
When I'm in the like, okay, so we got the little upstairs area for athletes with like a couple of treadmills.
They have a massive fan in there for literally three treadmills on one side and three on the other.
I'm actually trying to like get in there, like get a good sweat going, and I'm being blasted by like these massive hurricane winds.
while I'm trying to like sweat.
It's freezing outside.
I don't want to be cold while I'm working out too.
And being blown away off the triangle.
Literally.
I'm like,
You're just running to keep up with the wind at that point.
Exactly.
Oh my gosh.
I was getting so mad.
I was really like huffing and puffing
because the guy next to me was the one who turned it on.
And I was so heated.
My hair is like blowing in my face because it's blowing like at me.
But I'm running the other direction.
So my hair's like,
Yeah, I mean, treadmills have kind of been a hot take this semester so far.
Literally.
If you go into the fitness center inside the splix, count how many treadmills are literally broken.
How many would you say are there total?
Total, I feel like 12, and I feel like at least six of them are broken.
Like if I would say probably eight, I swear to you, I could not find a treadmill the other day.
Everyone had a sign that said, broken, broken, broken.
Yeah. Okay, but let's talk about that. When we first got back to campus, the gym was so packed. You literally couldn't do anything. Like, I swear, I would squat and I would like hit someone. It's that New Year's resolution, dude. Okay, but then that's what I was going to say. This week, starting to tail off. I'm not going to lie. That's how it is. January, everyone's like, yes. And then February comes around and everyone forgets their own goal. Yeah, it was a good week for most people.
next year next year
two week max maybe when you're a senior and you don't have as tough of a schedule as well
yeah that's true Chloe and I are kind of living the life right now guys yeah
except micro bio but other than that live in life it is it's a good good life oh yeah
okay here's one are flip phones cool again you know what that's a great question
you go first you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna go out here
here and say they were never not cool, you know? Like, what phone can you just whip out of your pocket
and, which, open? You know what I'm saying? Also, like, but also, you have to hit the, like,
button three times just to get, like, a seat. Okay, inefficient, yes. Okay, yeah. For sure. Cool,
you know, it's cool if you make it cool. It's all about the person, you know. Are you confident
whipping that out? I know I would be. Yeah. Hold up. You know, in this age, I might be, like, a little
embarrassed, but you know what, I would probably be, like my IQ would probably go up. Oh, yes. You know,
because I'd be like reading more books, even though, like, I do like to read. Yes, that's why it's,
like, cool because you actually get to, like, look up from your phone and see the world. Exactly.
Although the pop culture segment might be a little... Tick-Tick-Tock on a flip phone. Scroll. Can you even do
that? Do they even have that? I doubt it. Here's something we learned. Are flip phones Bluetooth?
Yeah. We had this question.
posed to us earlier in the week. And we saw it firsthand. And we were kind of baffled. I didn't know
that technology existed in such a small creation. I know. I'm still seeking the answer. Me too.
I'll have to have to research that. I'm going to save this episode for my kids though because
they're definitely getting a flip phone. So 100. My kids are going to hate me. They're going to be like,
I'm marking on. I'm so cool kids. Come on. I'm so hip. Flip phone. Come on now. You can decorate that thing.
dazzling. That used to be so fun. I know. And the rainbow loom? Oh, don't even give me stoned. Oh, yeah. I could only
make one type bracelet. But dang, did I make those? Oh, man. No, I was on my grind. Let me tell you,
I made my mom buy charms. Poor char. Oh, yeah. She was like, sure. We'll pay you back for that now.
That and off topic, but like slime, whole. No, you see, that actually never went out for me. Like, I love slime. I think it's so
fun and it's so easy to make yeah some contact whatever that stuff's called i don't even know what it's called
contact juice you what you what it's borax but you can use like contact solution solution there
we go i was like what are we talking about and glue it's so fun and then shaving cream yeah oh yeah
they used to put those little styrofoam beads in there too yeah shaving cream yeah yep you could spice it up
Those things. Should we make some?
You know what's back is 2016, right?
Yes. Dude, I got this amazing video of Juju on that beat.
Okay, there was like a trend on TikTok with volleyball.
Yeah.
And steady on the road there.
And it was like what I was doing at 2016 when I should have been working on my service scene.
And literally this video is like the epitome of that. Like I'm in my mom's office, like really exaggerating this like juju on that bee. And literally every time I watch that, I actually die a little inside. But I feel like it builds character. Like. Yeah. No, 100%. When I think of, it's just so funny to me that like 2016 is quote unquote back and people are posting everything. Because when I think of like the good life, I genuinely think of 2016. Oh yeah. I don't even really know what happened in 2016 for me that makes it so good.
Oh, I got it.
I just am like, yes, those were the days.
Oh, yeah.
No, 2016, the justice, like the super neon.
You got, like, the tank top.
And then you got, like, the, like, dancer, like, cropped over the...
Why was every child...
Like, why were every childhood the same?
No, I know.
Or that are, like, the plaid pants with, like...
Oh, yeah.
Some sort of colored shirt.
I'm like, mom.
Thank God I went to a school that had uniform because I saved myself...
Years of fashion embarrassment, honestly.
But I did have a pair of plaid shorts.
But is that really embarrassment?
Honestly, no.
I look back and I'm like, I'm going to dress my kid the same.
So like, I say embarrassment, but like, I like it.
Again, it's all about how you wear it.
That's what I'm saying.
Like, everyone is dressing their kids up in Gucci and Nike and ugh.
I'm like, you're literally like, you literally are too.
What a money pit though?
Seriously, your kid grows out of that in three months or they,
God forbid they step in a mud bottle.
Oh my gosh.
I know.
I'm like, my kids are going to be touching grass.
They're not going to be touching designer clothes.
Yeah.
Yeah, seriously, that is crazy.
Let's just go back to that.
Can that 2016 come back?
No.
And out with the 2026 culture of raising your kids like that.
Yeah.
Well, hopefully we live together.
We can raise our kids.
We are.
Neighbors for life.
That unfortunately wraps up today.
episode. Thank you for joining us today. We had a blast talking to you about everything relevant
and irrelevant. Please let us know if you have any topic ideas that you want us to cover next week.
