game losing streak to ashlin fun fact as annalees petrits petruch for three good petrizick for three
i mean she was one of the elite shooters in this conference absolutely petrizick shooting nearly 40%
from three points land this season just swinging the ball on the top kately harabedian kicks it out to actually
Mollet, top the key. Ashley, driving.
Swings back. Three. Airballs, no good, rebound, Savannah, Smith.
Housel just got to stay in control here. They're the better half-court team.
Where they've struggled was against the press this year.
As Petrazik finds Salarski, Magdalena-Solarski in the lane, up, foul.
Solarsky, this year shooting just 47% from the line.
You know?
You know, it's a really good day to be inside here.
Oh my gosh.
It's like negative a million out.
The swim meet for Hillsdale actually got canceled.
It was so cold, which doesn't make any sense because they're also indoors.
As Salarski makes the first free throw?
Yeah, you think the pool froze?
I mean, it had to have.
That's the only explanation.
I don't know why they couldn't just run across it.
I mean, you probably would have beat all your times.
Absolutely.
As Salarsky makes the second free throw, 5-2, 6 minutes.
left in the first quarter. Hillsdale
were up.
Jenna Baldadi with the ball.
Swings into Gia, Castelanovia.
Caitlin Harbideon with the shot.
Three point, no good. As Annelius
tries to get into Savannah. Tip ball.
Savannah, dished to Emin Rulman. In the paint.
Kicks out to Solarski. Slorski for three,
and it's good.
And that was Amelia Solarski. The last home
basketball game that I watched, these two Slarski
twins combined eight
for 11 from three-point land.
Twin telepathy, they call it.
As Giac Casanova drives in the paint.
Fowled, the basket goes in, not counting the baskets on the floor.
Foul on Annalise Petrazek.
As President Panasik subs in for Rulman.
Cindy Panasik.
Great player.
Great player.
Great all-around basketball player.
Gritty player.
Team captain.
Stud.
Just a stud.
No bias is here.
No bias.
As Natalie Thomas goes up, out of bounds on Hillsdale.
Ashland ball, 15 seconds left on the shot clock.
Coach Kerry Pickens, looking to direct your players,
get the good inbound pass, gets it in, Keira Hill.
Swings it over to Gia Castellanova.
Casanova goes up with the left.
No good, but it's a foul.
That was a little bit of a late foul to me there.
I think that if that was going to be any kind of foul,
it should have been on the floor,
and they shouldn't let her get that shot off.
Yeah, it did seem a little bit late.
Fowl on Amelia Solarski, her first.
Hillsdale, up 8 to 2 with 515 left in the first quarter.
So early lead for Hillsdale, which is absolutely huge in this conference matchup.
Absolutely.
As Castellanova makes her first.
And the second, gets both to go.
Maddie Smith taking the ball up the court, swings to Amelia Solarsky in the corner.
Amelia Solarsky for a quick three, and it's good.
Quick dagger from Amelia Solarsky.
So that right there, another three-pointer from one of the Solarski twins,
as I think we just had a T for three come out.
That's the first time I've seen that all season.
That's, you know, after a tough shooting performance getting Finley,
it's good to see the Chargers make some shots.
As Casanova takes a three from the corner, no good.
Yeah, looking to bounce back against that game against Finley.
I mean, Ashland, probably a better team overall,
but the Charters look out here with an early lead.
As Panasic swings the ball at the top of the key to Magdalena Szilarski
to Maddie Smith, who puts a down.
the paint to Savannah Smith, non-related.
Ashland rebound. A lot of same
last names, but not the same
amount of relations.
It's trying to get an inlet past the Tura Hill
batted away. Ashland Ball.
We will be heading to a media timeout
here. You'll listen to Radio Freehills
1-1.7 FM Charger basketball. I'm Colin.
I'm at it. We'll see after the break.
with Janice Dean.
An off-duty firefighter from Louisiana
makes the Dean's list for pulling a woman from a burning car
before it burst into flames.
Andrew Nixon was driving home from a wedding with his fiancé
when he saw the car crash between a vehicle and an 18-wheeler.
Not only that, but the car's tires were on fire.
He saw that someone was trapped inside the vehicle,
so he pulled over and ran out to see if he could help.
Andrew used his bare hands to smash the windshield
and injured himself in the process,
but knew he only had a few minutes to get the woman out.
He says somehow by the grace of God,
he was able to get in and lift her out
before the car was completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters arrived on scene,
and the fire chief says, without Andrew,
the woman would not have survived.
She was airlifted to the hospital,
and although firefighter Nixon's hands were cut and bruised,
he says it was all worthwhile.
Janisteen, Fox News.
Welcome back to 101.7 FM Radio Free Hillsville.
Still Colin. Still Evan.
Chargers up 11 to 4 with 4 minutes, 20 seconds left in the first quarter.
Strong showing.
Really strong showing. Chargers struggled a little bit in conference overall,
but they are really, really, really good at home, undefeated still.
As Alyssa Lopez, looking to drive to the hoop, puts up a little right-hand floater, no good.
Rebound, Maddie Smith.
Great defense there by Panasic, not fouling, but making a little.
take a deep floater. Panastic.
Driving. They're called a charging foul
on Panasic. Her first.
I'm not a big fan of charging fouls.
If the player is not either standing still
or there's a clear lowering of the shoulder,
I don't know about that call right there.
You know, I've watched basketball all my life.
And charging fouls are still one of those things
that, you know, I don't fully understand.
I don't think I get it. No.
Pierre Hill,
swings it to Ashwin Mullet.
Ashley Moll puts him a shot, but they're calling a moving screen on Kira Hill.
Kirill, the 6'3 redshirt freshman from Goshen, Indiana.
Actually, I think they called a travel there.
Travel.
Good shout.
That's accountability.
It's Maddie Smith swings it to Petracek to Panassick to Smith, all around top of the key.
Mattie Smith's trying to find Petrusick.
Swing the ball around, getting the ball in the paint to Savannah Smith.
Turnover.
but wait it's not
scrum on the floor for the ball
looks like they're going to call it
charge your basketball a big scrum on the floor there
yeah so it looked like
Ashland's Caitlin Hatterberg
had the ball on the ground but she was
laying out of bounds as she was touching the ball
so that ball's going to be out of bounds for Hillsdale
with 10 seconds left from the shot clock
good situation for Hillsdale would love
to get a quick bucket here
it really feels like the momentum is
all Hillsdale at this point I mean very
Literally, Ashton's not even really putting up good shots.
It's not that they're missing shots.
It's that they haven't had open looks at the basket.
Her Hillsdale has been creating great looks for themselves.
Oh, yeah.
They reset the shot clock, 13 seconds left as Panasic finds Smith in the paint.
Goes up with the right and it's good.
13-4 Hillsdale, three minutes left in the first quarter.
And that height advantage in the paint is something that Hillsdale has basically over every single team in their conference.
Alyssa Lopez swings into Gia, Castellanova.
Castile Nova to Mollett.
Mullet to the corner to Yoder.
Yoder in the paint.
Swings it to the Slates.
Slates dribbles it off her foot, goes out of bounds.
Charge her basketball.
Great double team there by Maddie Smith.
She saw that Ashland had nowhere to pass the ball.
The girl took a dribble.
Maddie Smith comes in there and pokes it out and forces the ball out of Nashville.
Fantastic play.
Has Bruce and Ruman come in for Smith and Panassick, respectively?
Smith's driven the ball at the court
to Salarsky back to Smith
Maddie Smith that is
as Maddie Smith loses the ball
out of bounds
A lot of Smiths on this team
I think there's three now
Three Smiths
Very very common last name
I think Granny Smith is coming next year
Tough crowd
Ashley Mullet drumming the ball up the court
As she turns it over
Ellie Bruce with the steel
Fast break opportunity for Amelia Solarsky
As she slows it down
I'm trying to find Ellie Bruce in the pain.
Ellie Bruce, Pivot step.
Tosting it up.
No good, but rebound Petrus Zip.
There's going to be a foul there.
It seemed to be a pushing foul.
Pusuf, her in the back.
I'm not sure.
It's on Petrissick, though.
It is on Petrissick.
That's her second, and she does have a tendency to get into foul troubled here.
So two fouls are early.
They're going to sub her out, and we're going to have to watch that later on in that game.
That's Panasic and Magnolinas-Larski sub-in for Maddie.
Smith and Annalise Petrazek.
Coach Breonna Brennan, trying to get an explanation on that one.
Didn't like it, still shaking her head.
You know, just wishing she can't have that callback.
Absolutely. Nobody likes to be in fall in trouble.
As Slates, look at a drive, goes up.
Block my Bruce.
Ellie Bruce says no way, Jose.
I mean, just an absolutely athletic play there by our tallest player,
Ellie Bruce.
You have an awful time driving the pain of
Ellie Bruce is in the game.
As Lopez drives to the hoop.
Goes up with the right, no good.
Another mis-lay-up for Ashland.
As Lopez pinned in the corner,
throws the ball across the court.
Bat away by Elmer Rulman.
I mean, that's why you go up with the left hand
and the left side.
You have to.
Teach tape right there.
I mean, just not good enough.
I'm not good enough to do that.
I can't go up with my left.
But that's why we're not college basketball players.
This is very true.
as Slate swings to the Lopez, top of the key.
Lopez driving in again, trying to get up and under, puts up another shot.
No good.
Rebound, Ashland, Harold Deidion, swings it over to Slates.
Slates driving, goes up to the right, and it's good.
Jetta Slates.
Too many extra possessions there for the Eagles.
Can't let them get offensive rebounds.
As they unbound and give it to Slarski who commits a travel, costly turnover there for Hillsdale.
13-6 a minute 42 left in the first quarter
It was still showing a little bit of a press here
As Ashley Mollett drives up the court
Tries to break the press puts up mid-range
Blocked by Magalans Silarsky
But they're gonna call a shooting foul on her
You know we don't have the right angles
But as a homer for Hills though I'm not calling that a foul
Yeah, I didn't think she touched her
But that might just be wishful thinking
But they do a better angle
I'm gonna make one in front of the rest a lot
not very good at their job ever always especially when they call calls against my own team but
Ashley Mullet the line the five foot five sophomore from Berlin Ohio from Highland you know what
interesting strategy here I've never seen anybody do this before the team is backing out all their
players so they're avoiding the offensive rebound in the first quarter you usually see this in the
end of the fourth quarter that was very interesting this is true as she misses her second free throw 13 7 hills
minute and a half left in the first quarter.
Emma Rulman, surveying.
Surveying.
Gets in the pain to Ellie Bruce.
Back out to Rulman, back to Bruce.
I want to know you want it.
Ellie Bruce goes up with the right, no good.
Rebound Jenna Slates.
It was a good move, though.
She had the opportunity, but just unfortunately missed the shot.
The 13, Jenna Baldotti.
Swings it over to Lissa Lopez.
Baldotti from the corner for three, and it's good.
Battles a down.
Yeah, he'll still switch through zone there for a second.
and Ashland able to take advantage and get the quick shot.
Amelia Slarski for three, quick three.
No good.
Tries get a rebound, won't get it.
Baldotti gets the rebound.
Gives a Gena Slate.
Genes Slates, goes up with the open layup, and it's good.
Timeout in Hillsdale, 1312, quick swing for the Eagles.
They're high, exposing, potent offense.
And we're just a 30-second timeout here.
30-second timeout.
We'll see you guys after the break.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.
101.m.
I'm Colin.
I'm Evan.
See you later.
on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
The more you listen, the more you learn.
This is Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
To Hillsdale Chargers, Women's Basketball.
Chargers are up 13, 12, with 45 seconds left in the first quarter.
You know, quick turnaround there for Ashland,
who, you know, struggled offensively in the early parts of the first quarter,
but really tie together a bunch of good points here.
Chargers looking to stop that momentum with a timeout.
Come on the break here, we got Magdalena Solarski.
Swing into her twin sister Amelia Solarski.
He's down Savannah Smith in the paint.
The 21, I'll foul on the floor.
Yeah, so Ashton there, letting defense turn to offense.
A couple of good steals and a couple of fast break points.
To make this a one-point game, 1312, with only 30 seconds left in this first quarter.
Fowles on Joplin Yoder.
As Roman in the paint, looking to dribble.
Get in there.
it for a second but gets it back since
a Magnolia-Solarski into Smith
in the paint. We can work on Yoder.
Puts it up. Nice pain away
for Savannah Smith. I mean that's just
an absolutely beautiful move, beautiful
shot there. Not much he can do to guard that.
Cornyn of 3.
Wasn't a corner 3 though.
Slates has a ball. We're going to
give it to Alyssa Lopez. Elisa Lopez,
step back to mid-range, airball.
That's the end of the first quarter here at Don
Don Tibbonner Arena. Back and four with action.
Hillsdale versus Ashley Neagles.
1512, charges up.
We'll see you after the break.
I'm Colin.
And I'm Evan.
You listen to radio for Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
This is The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group.
At 512 a.m. on April 18, 1906,
San Francisco suffered a massive earthquake killing 3,000 people,
destroying 25,000 buildings,
and leaving a quarter million residents homeless.
resulting fires ranged unchallenged for four days and nights due the broken water mains and exploding gas pipes.
The earthquake shook the ground as far away as Oregon, Nevada, and Los Angeles.
The San Francisco police mobilized throughout the city to protect people and properties with a standing order to shoot looters on site.
Out of the ashes, city planners used the disaster to rebuild San Francisco from the ground up, and that is exactly what they did.
This has been the Making of America.
I'm Michael Emerson, and you can visit us at jeffersonmediagroup.com.
Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM Charger Women's Basketball.
I'm Tom.
I'm Evan.
A little back and forth action at the end of the quarter there.
Hillsill up 1512 at the start of the second quarter.
What are your big takeaways from the first quarter?
Well, Ashland was able to turn defense into offense.
Chargers can't let Ashland get fast break points.
And the half-core offense and half-core defense,
the Chargers are one of the best teams in the conference.
Their struggle is when they get full-court pressed
or when they're getting quick turnovers to allow up easy buckets.
I think the key is just to stay central within yourself,
not let anything get too fast.
As Petra Zick trying to get up, gets on the basket,
passed out to Rulman.
Rulman shoots the mid-range, no good.
If you get tries to get their own rebound, it goes out of bounds.
Almost grabbed her own rebound there.
Stealing a possession of Hillsdale,
but unfortunately can't do that.
Today, very important
Princess Day here in Don Tibbetts Potter Arena.
It's a huge day, big pull
for the little population in Hillsdale.
That is young population, I meant.
The Hillsdaleans.
The His Daylians.
As Gia Castanova, nice move.
Jeebles to the rack.
Lay up, no good.
Mattis Smith on the board.
She brings it over to Magdalena Solarski.
Tassadry, no good.
Savannah Smith, for a deep two.
No good.
Ammona fights for the board.
Doesn't get a Kirahilah.
gets it. Eagles ball as Alyssa Lopez.
We're going to just reset the offense here.
Get sitting in the Kira Hill.
Kira Hill in the paint.
Up with the left hook and it's good.
Hills is up.
15, 14, 9 minutes left in the second quarter.
Samadne Smith will get a draw off the play.
Swinging around top of the key.
Trying to find an inlet pass to Savannah Smith.
As Emma Rulman gets a three, no good.
Savannah Smith tries to get the board.
Rebound Castellanova.
Eagles basketball.
taking up the court gives it slates slates swings it over to lopez
trying to put some work out magdalena loses the ball good defense as emma rooming gets the
steel gets to put to petrzek peachesick looking to get up he's pinned again at the baseline
doesn't call jump ball got tangled up emma ruleman and who's at tierah hill
yeah the possession's going to go to hills or going to go to the eagles excuse me but
There by Petrusik.
Unfortunate that Ruman couldn't get up with it
before she got caught or tied up with the defender.
Ashley Mullet, corner three.
It's going to ring in, ring out.
As Keira Hill gets the offensive rebound, tough board.
She's pinned in the corner.
Gets the ball battered away.
Kind of trapped here, struggling with the ball,
gets the ball out to Slate.
Slate's over to Casanova.
Castanova over to Mullet.
Back to Casanova.
Castleanova, trying to put working with her.
Hills is trapping him pretty good.
Casanova driving
baseline goes up and it's good
right before the shot clock
expires. And once again
offensive rebounding
for As Aschlam
As Petra's against the ball
Quick inlet past Savannah Smith
Up with the right and it's good
Quick bad transition
Defense of the Eagles
Charges capitalized
Slates
swinging it over to Mollett
To Lopez
That's Casanova
Slates
from the wing up for the three.
No good. Rebound Maddie Smith.
You can't let Ashland teams that are this good.
Get offensive rebounds.
Great job there by Smith to grab that one.
Absolutely.
As Maddie Smith gives us Savannah Smith.
Coach is not happy.
I think it's a foul, but Savannah Smith says,
I don't care about the foul.
I will take two.
Great move there.
Great basketball by Savannah Smith.
She didn't need the foul.
Didn't need the foul, but it is getting chippy down there.
It is.
As Mullet gives it to Kira Lopez.
at the elbow.
He seemed to slate in the corner, Slate,
driving baseline.
They're gonna foul on Emma Rulman.
Yeah, these are two teams, as we know
from our own playing experience.
They don't like each other very much.
Very much so.
Very much so.
As Amelia Slarski,
Ellie Bruce and Sidney Panasic
form an entourage to sub in,
a plethora of chargers to scub in.
A herd of chargers?
I think that's what they say.
Heard?
A murder of crows.
as Slade
Flamedian
Herbedian to Lopez for three
Lopez good
Check that
Ashley Mollett for three
1919-630
Left in the second quarter
It's Emilio Slarski
Swings with a Peachterzik top the key
To the other Slarski, Magdalena
Panasic tries to find Ellie in the paint
Fins her
Coaches are not happy
Feel that's a foul but
Missed shot Hillsdale missed opportunity
Ashton trapped that pretty well
the paint. We have a tie game here in the middle of the second quarter. Baldani
swings it over to Caitlin Haribidian. Haribadian up to the left. Good lay.
2119, 6 minutes left second quarter. Magdalena Solarski. You're going to find Petrazek.
They call to push a sense of relief from the coaches. About time, I think they want to say.
About time. It is indeed.
He'll still did switch into a two three zone there for a little bit, but not working very well.
I think they're going to get out of it and they're going to stick with this man defense.
Van Broke Tone fix it.
They came out hot, hoping to keep that momentum.
As Emilio Spock, you're trying to find Panassick in the paint.
Out to Maddie Smith.
Maddie Smith trying to make a move on Mollett.
Petrusick guard by Castelnova.
Salarsky swings it back to Petracek.
Look, you get some ISO ball here.
A good player, do what she does best.
Isso.
Swings at Panasica in the corner.
Two seconds left, shot clock.
Panaski for three.
No good.
At the buzzer, tough shot, had to get it up.
As they find Casanova in the corner.
Casanova out of bounds, off of chargers.
Ashland to basketball.
Definitely a lot of offense for the, he'll charges the shoulder.
Steal by Panasic, fantastic athletic play.
Supreme Athleticism.
Speaking of shoulder.
shout-out Gavin Chenevy as Panasic swings into Bruce in the paint
blocked by Slates as Slate gives his a mullet driving baseline on
Maddie Swings to the corner to Baldotti out to Casta Lenovo cast Lenova for three
no good Slates gets a rebound tries to go up again no good they're called foul on Panassic
Yeah shout out local Hillsdale Charger legend Gavin Shenneble a DBB here for the
Chargers had an unfortunate injury this season I decided to write shirt with his
It is torn labor on his shoulder.
But going to come back better and stronger than ever.
That's the rumor on the street.
Evan Genovi coming back better and stronger than ever next year.
Watch out.
You're listening to Radio Freehzo, 101.1.7 FM.
I'm Colin.
I'm Evan.
We'll see you after the break.
Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and I've got a pop quiz.
What exactly does I may go to the grocery store mean?
Does it mean there's a chance I'll decide to go, or does it?
it mean I could go if I wanted to?
Well, plot twist, like most things in life, there's no simple answer.
May and might are often used interchangeably, but they have slightly different meanings.
May connotes permission or a non-fact that could become a fact,
while might connotes a degree of probability that is usually lower than may.
You may skip English class, since it's unlikely that anyone will come after you with a pitchfork if you do,
except me.
I might come after you.
I may not come after you, however, because the law generally,
forbids chasing people with pitchforks. Another fun fact, might is the past...
Welcome to Hillsdale. Welcome back to Hillsdale College Women's Basketball on Radio for Hillsdale
1.1.7 FM. I remain Colin. I remain Evan. Still listen to us, still have to listen to us. I'm sorry.
Yeah, we're not going away until the fat lady sings. And I don't see her in the arena.
I don't see her in the arena, so we're thinking we're doing all right.
We've got slates at the line in Ashland.
Having a group powwow with coach, Kerry Pickens.
I wonder what they're talking about.
I'm sure it's basketball.
I mean, maybe not.
They just had a time out to talk basketball.
Maybe they're talking about dinner or lunch or something.
They're asking for places to go in Hillsdale.
I have two recommendations, Dairy Queen and probably another one that I have.
as she misses both free throws.
That's Jenna Slates.
Good for the, good break for the Hillsdale Chargers.
Get up as a possession unscathed.
The ruleman at the top of the key.
Swings it to Nagdalena Silarski.
Out to Maddie Smith.
Down to her not Sister Savannah Smith.
As they're going to call a pushing foul on Jenna Slates.
Yeah, I mean, great call there because it went against the Eagles and went for the chargers.
That's always a good call.
Love to see it.
I'll tell you what, every time Maddie Smith passes Savannah Smith,
I will tell you that they are not siblings.
You have to remember that.
As Roman swings in the Savannah Smith in the paint,
puts up with the right, blocked by Kira Hill.
Again, the 6-3, red shirt freshman from Goss in Indiana.
I think that's somewhere in Poland, as Lopez drives the right,
slices through the Hillsdale defense.
Gets it up for good.
Yeah, so Ashland leading here,
late in this second quarter, 23 to 19,
He'll still got to get back to what they were doing in that first quarter, getting open looks, and stopping the Ashland easy buckets.
Speaking of Polish, that was a very polished move by Savannah Smith in the paint.
Up with the right.
I love words that look the same but sound differently.
This Casanova swings into Lopez at the top of the key.
He swings into Badati.
Baldotti looking to work on Petrazek, driving the paint.
Baseline pass to Caitlin Haribetian is no good.
Laudaddi throws it away.
Chaja basketball.
Chargers here.
Opportunity to tie or take this lead right here with a two-point or three-point bucket.
Would be huge to see the Chargers playing this close, nearing halftime.
325 left, down 2, 21, 23, as they try to find her workhorse in the middle.
Smith or can't find.
Mattick-Smith and Petrusick in the corner.
Savannah Smith, Pejardich throws it away.
Bad pass. Badali with the steel.
Badali from Oakland, Illinois, went to Mother McCauley, and also Lewis.
As Lopez, looking to drive with the right, poked away by Maddie Smith, good defense.
As Alyssa Lopez trapped, again, batted away by Maddie Smith.
Regathered by Kirillah Hill of Ashton Eagles.
Alyssa Lopez driving base on, trapped again.
Badali, top of the key.
Four seconds left to the shot clock, trying to work out Magdalene Salarski.
He goes up with the right.
He's good at the buzzer.
Wow.
What a lucky basket right there.
He breaks off the rim and just falls right in.
You can call that one lucky because, man, that was a tough shot.
That was a tough shot, not when you practice all too much.
No, it wasn't even really looking at the basket.
Just kind of threw up a prayer.
Emma Rulman doesn't see the defender behind Samantha Smith trying to trap.
It gets the in-luck pass, and it's batted away.
Bye, Savannah Smith.
I'm going to call that one, Ashland, basketball.
Chargers down four right now.
We have Lopez driving up the court.
Chargers ball back into this zone defense here.
Mullet with the three and it's good.
Man, if the Chargers keep shooting like this,
check that.
Eagles keep shooting like this.
I don't know how long we can stay in the zone.
Yeah, the man defense has been working infinitely better than the zone most of this game.
As Petrazek, look at a drive, gets up a shot.
Tough shot, it's good.
Great move there by.
Petriezik taking the basket right over her woman.
Very good pronouns.
As Mollett, Ashley Mollett,
shout out Zagelter for the Mollett,
swings it to Joplin Yoder.
Yoder, Castellanova back out to Lopez.
Trying to keep the Eagles in the outside
as Lopez just obeys that and tries to drive.
Goes up to the right, no good.
Relon, Savannah Smith.
Payton-Adkins subs in the game for Emilio Solarsky.
Atkins
The senior from Osceola, Indiana,
Mishawaka Penn
As she, inlet pass to Savannah Smith
and they're called foul
against Savannah Smith's shooting foul
She's at the line for two.
What the charges really need to do here is
I believe it set some screens and get some three-point shots up
haven't shot a lot of threes
this entire quarter and they shot really, really well
in the first quarter. Obviously always shoot better
at home when you do on the road.
Right, right.
Smith, 82% from the line
The first shot is no good.
It's a little bit of jinks.
Lightning never strikes twice in the same spot, they say,
as Savannah Smith makes the second free throw.
Oh!
Pass batted away by Peyton Adkins, completely undercut.
Fantastic play as Mullet swings up top the key to Bates.
Bates out to Mollett.
Mullet, who's hot from three, misses it.
Petrizziq gets the board close out of bounds.
Nagdalena Solarski taking the ball up.
49 seconds left in the half. Hillsdale down
4.
Pete Adkins.
Top of key swings the Petruszik.
Petritschuk trying to put him working
Castle Nova. Swings up to Woolman.
Rulman, the Savannah Smith.
Savannah Smith one. Nice turnaround jumper. It's good.
She's playing ball.
She is indeed playing ball.
She is indeed playing ball. And very, very hot tonight
for the Chargers on those step back.
jumpers.
Reminds me of Dirt Novitsky
of the Dallas Mavericks
and Greg Jones.
What team is Greg Jones play for?
The Raptors.
Ashley Mullet fouled
by Magdalas-Solonoski.
Kind of a weird
looking foul there. It was very
It was unorthodox, if you will.
It was unorthodox.
It was unorthodox.
In the past a mullet being, oh,
impressed by Magdalenev.
Accidentally trips accidentally as the odor puts up a ball no good

we're heading to halftime in Don Tibbet's Potter Arena you're listening to
Radio Free Hills a 101.7 FM women's basketball I'm Colin I'm Evan and we will see you in a
little bit
Hills at 101.7 FM we've even been back and I don't know it feels like three days but I
guess it's been about 15 minutes.
About 15 minutes.
A nice little half time there.
Chargers resetting.
One of the game playing will be in this second half.
But I feel like they'll shoot a lot more threes this half.
Didn't.
Got away from the three-point in the second quarter.
Kind of cost them only end up with, I think,
10 points in that second quarter.
So not a very high scoring for them.
Savannah Smith, though, great second quarter for her.
A couple fade-away jumpers for her.
But also really got to play with our defense here.
offense played okay in the second quarter but the defense was great there for about the first
eight minutes in the first quarter only letting up two points yeah not getting up any open shots
a lot more open shots than the second quarter got to be something they're going to look to stop
here yeah absolutely i mean really really just hope for a big quarter here you got to come out hot
you got to stay hot obviously in the ideal world you play good the entire game that's not gonna that's not
going to happen so you're going to maintain the lows not get too low same time you got to stay high
when you're hot you know you got to stay right here i know that none of the viewers can see where my hand is
but it's right in the middle imagine the middle you got to stay here the whole game there don't let the highs
and lows you know affects your personal game too much stay right there stay locked in as we have
shout out here another hillsdale football player john metzker john msker is here now um one thing
I want to say before the break happens.
Me and Gavin Chenovee just took pictures
of the princesses and I can tell you what
it's the most terrifying thing I've ever done.
I'm never doing that again
and it was scary, okay?
So I thought I'd share.
Shout out John Metzker, Mitch Metzger,
and Lynn Metzger, family out of Ashland, Ohio,
but actually goes to Hillsdale College.
Call that some kind of a...
Special teams player of the year here for Hillsdale College.
Sabotourism, tourism, but sabotage.
just made that one up
Maddie Smith with the ball
juggling against Alyssa Lopez
swings it over to Maddalena Solarski
made three earlier in the game
back to Maddie Smith
out to Rulman trying to get the ball
into Savannah Smith
but they're trapping her pretty well
Magdalena Slarsk gets the ball
to Savannah Smith goes up with the left
stays hot
nice up and under basket for Savannah Smith
great there she does maintain
her streak
going into the third quarter
absolutely as cast Lenovo
yep has it to uh Lopez Lopez goes up to the left no good
reminds me a lot of the first quarter she was going up and it wasn't dropping
just trying to get the five on four opportunity
features ex who's out to ruleman to smith of the paint who has trouble with the ball
turns it over here Lopez with the steel and unfortunately he'll still not able to
take advantage of that quick five on four opportunity is
cast Lenova took quick nap on their side of the floor but
unable to score.
Cura Hill takes the mid-range shot and he's good.
Savannah Smith giving a little too much cushion there.
Cure Hill takes advantage of it.
So a two-point game here as Ashton leads the Chargers, 30 to 28.
As Emma Rulman swings it to Magdalena-Solarski.
Slarsky swings it over to Rulman.
Rulman finds Petrazek.
In the paint, out to Smith, because she's a mid-range.
mismatch on Savannah Smith.
Mouse in the house.
Maddie Smith takes a shot, no good.
And one tries to stay from going out of bounds.
Won't go.
Eagles ball.
30 to 28.
Eagles on top of Hillsdale.
Yeah, so Smith did have a mismatch there.
Surprise he didn't find her on a really, really small guard.
Maybe a foot and a half advantage there for Savannah Smith,
but unable to locate her down underneath.
What interesting to see.
As Slates,
jab, stab, jab,
step, jab, mid-range, no good.
Maggie Szilarski with the rebound.
Petrusik,
looking for some more can get it,
room into the paint.
Spina Smith.
Over to non-related Maddie Smith.
To Petracek on the baseline,
up and under.
Reverse layup, it's good.
Nice move there,
great finish by Annalise Petrusik.
They tie the game here
for the Chargers 30 to 30
for 7 minutes less than this third quarter.
Sorry for a lot.
It's all tied up in Dawn Tippett's Potter.
His Castle Lenovo shoots the three, no good off the front of the rim.
Rebond Maddie Smith.
Well, good.
I forgive you.
There's Maggie Solarisky to Ruman in the corner.
One of three.
Just kidding.
She's looking to serve a.
Maggie Silarsky, top of the key.
Driving.
I'm Baldotti.
No good.
As Amarroom with a tough O rebound, gets it out to Maggie Slarski.
Maggie Slarowski, three.
No good.
Rebound Tira Hill.
Lopez.
taking the ball at the court.
Started tightly by Maggie Solarsky.
Trapped by Samantha Smith.
Slates in the corner.
Open three, passes it up.
He says, I'm going to drive.
I'm going to do some post stuff.
And, you know, it worked.
It looked unorthodox, but it worked.
It looked very unorthodox.
She was able to back her man down.
Back her woman down?
Back her woman down.
And finished the short J.
May Smith to Maggie Salarsky,
surveying over to Petrissick.
Peachesick.
You can put some work on Castellanova.
Double-team by Baldotti.
Emerald, try to direct traffic.
Get some work done.
Trying to get the ball on Smith.
Solarski, opposite corner than she shot earlier.
Still no good.
About Slates.
Ash one ball.
But that's an open look there for the Chargers.
Keep shooting those are eventually going to fall.
You're a great shooting team.
We've Lopez.
Go outside about Maggie Silorski.
Makes a move.
Gets an open three in the corner.
Castle Lanova.
check that Badali for three
So 35 to 30
Ashenego's lead deep three-pointed
Petrus is looking to respond won't go
Emerald tries to fight for the board won't get it
Ashland Ball
As we have another plethora of subs

Amelia Solarski and Ellie Bruce
Subbing for Emma Rulman, Maddie Smith

So Chargers you just slow
the game down here a little bit
They've been playing a little bit of Ashland basketball.
Got to play your own kind of basketball.
But Ali tries to get in the paint.
The slates.
Ali passed it away.
They're going to call a jump ball.
Possession arrow.
He's pointing to the Eagles.
This is true.
Possession arrow Eagles.
17 left on the shot clock.
545 left in the third quarter.
As Lopez has the ball.
Top of the key.
lose the ball a little bit

Foul, foul committed by Natalie Thomas, the 5-8 graduate student from Mexico, Mexico, Missouri, that is.
From the William Woods and community RVI, whatever that means.
Petya Zick, first free throws good.
Yeah, Petra Zick almost at the end one there, basket, unfortunately, rolls out, but I'm going to get two free throws here, nonetheless.
77% on the year makes both free throws.
boost that up a little bit. As Lopez, I'm not too sure what was going on, but not what Lopez
thought. Turn over. Charge your basketball. Yeah, trying to, you know, make a pass into her teammates,
but just horrible pass there as it goes 10 feet out of bounds. As Peach is like,
scream by the padastic, take the ball baseline, up and under again. What do you find a good
play in Madden or college football play, uh, 26? You just keep running it over and over again.
QB Blast run the offense run the offense running until they stop you
Lopez swings it to Haribidian Haribidian again on the Orthodox post move but it's gonna go
I mean she took about a quadruple spin there before she shot it I don't know how she's not busy
these coaches it seemed to be a pattern with weird post moves quick three from
Petra's like no good but they're gonna call it was good we're gonna call a foul on the
floor movie screen it seems to be. What about a huge for Hillsville to make that three, which they did,
but negated by the foul. We're going to go into this break 3437. Ashton Eagle's leave.

Got a little bit of a barn burner in Don Tibbitts Potter here.
Very, very low-scoring games for both of these two teams here.
A 34-37-point lead for the Ashland to Eagles.
It's what Hill still charges.
As Ashley Mullet hasn't been seen much in this second half,
a big player for them in the first half, but hasn't been seen much.
As Lopez finds out in the past, Cure Hill.
Cure Hill goes up.
No good.
Good D.
the Rulman. Somehow the pass slips
through and that was there to save it.
Maggie Silarski
surveying.
Looking to set up a play here
with a Brie Brennan getting them right.
Future Zick. They're going to move.
Out to Amelia Silarski. Amira Slarski for three.
Won't go. Rebound Lopez. Stolen by
Rulman. And we're getting a whistle
here. Looks like it was a foul
on. It seemed to be a turnoff.
into a foul.
So Lopez, Alyssa Lopez, turns the ball over.
Emerauma gets it and then a foul.
Foul looks like on that, a little skirmish for the ball, maybe.
Savannah Smith looking to get one-on-one postwork against Kear Lopez.
Wow.
Up with the right and good.
Great game here today for Savannah Smith.
She can't just seem to miss.
She's playing basketball, that's for sure.
As Mullet, speaking of the devil in the game.
She goes over to Keir Lopez.
Kiral Lopez midrange, no good.
It's a good.
Tale of dueling pianos and the piano of Savannah Smith is winning.
Whatever that means.
Something like that.
Amelia Solarski gets in the Peaches are going to post.
Peaches are going to work.
Swings out to Magdalena Solarski.
Savannah Smith.
Savannah Smith wants the midrange.
Going to work on Keel Lopez again.
Post fade.
Won't go.
And she finally misses this shot.
She's been hot there for about five straight shots.
Mullet, top the key, guarded by Magdalena Solarski.
Surveying.
Looking a drive on Solarski.
Goes up to the left and good.
Yeah, able to expand their lead to three points.
You have a 39, 36.
Ashneagles' lead.
2.30 left in the second quarter.
As Magdalena Solarski has the ball and the wing.
Amelia Solarski, top the key.
Back to the wing.
They're swinging around, trying to get up on an inlet.
Bang!
Oh!
Another three-pointer by Annalise Petra's is no good, waved off by an offensive foul before the shot.
That fouls on Amelia Solarski.
That's two straight three-pointers that have gone in.
To me, that looks like a no-call.
It was clearly that Swarski was not looking at her when she was foul.
So, you know, Ashton player is looking, and she's running into Slarsky.
Slarsky is not looking where she's going.
There's no intentional screen there.
Yeah, I mean.
Just kind of some, some contact.
And no matter what, that shot would have gotten off,
so I think that's a poor call there by the officials.
Definitely one of those 50-50 things where, you know,
enough contact down on both sides where you can't really call it.
As Mullet pulls three no good, rebound Yoder.
Ashland ball.
Badali swings up back over to Casta Lenova driving baseline.
Goes up, no good.
Blocked by Smith.
Oh, late foul.
Really, really late foul there.
I think they're waiting to see if that one went in or not.
one would think
I mean was a late foul for sure
was it a foul you know
debatable debatable
again we're sitting up here in the booth
not much we can do or affect the game down there
but we just give you our honest
opinion that's why we're here
Castle Nova first free throw
good as just taking these free throws
huge NFL news as the
the Steelers
plan to hire former Cowboys coach
Mike McCarthy as their new head coach
kind of a strange hire there
he's had stints he had stints with the
Packers didn't win anything there
maybe he did you won that Super Bowl
I think he did one the one with the Packers
he had some bad years and he had some great players on
both of those teams
and never quite get it done you get it put all together
very interesting hire
a lot of NFL head coach Carousels
going around right now
he's fan of Smith in the paint looking to get something done
out to Maddie Smith
Maddie Smith drive mid-range bucket won't go rebound Savannah Smith Savannah Smith up and under good
great basket there by Smith great offense rebound and great job to get the original shot-up by

Peyton adkins and mani smith stopping for the Solarski twins cast Lenova trying to drive baseline

Got shooters all around.
Magdalena, shooting 43%, Amelia, shooting 37,
Petrus Lake shooting 39,
Rulman's shooting 39,
all from three.
Gonna call another offensive foul.
Defense a foul.
Defense a foul on Joplin Yoder.
That sounds Polish.
That sounds Polish.
Six foot one freshman from Walnut Creek, Ohio,
out of Berlin Highland.
And just like that, he'll still one away from the double bonus in this course.
So Ashton, got to be careful not to foul again here.
Walnut Creek right next to Cashier River.
That's Savannah Smith getting fouled again by Chaplin Yoder.
Out of Walnut Creek.
She's going to be shooting two free throws here, and that gets Kroger.
Three foul.
A little bit of foul trouble here for her.
Yoder, excuse me.
It was pretty close.
Joplin Kroger.

As a bullet, five seconds left in the shot clock in the quarter.

To hear it here, the crowd having a huge effect on this game today.
The sound waves here are so strong that legend says a shot from half court will never go in because the sound waves deflected as Maddie Smith takes the ball up the court.
Emma Rulman, top the key.
Looking to find Savannah Smith, the word horse in the quarter.
Savannah Smith, putting in work on Cura Hill.
Getting pushed, offensive, or defensive foul again?
They can't stop Savannah Smith, so they might as well follow her.
That's all they can seem to do.
It's like when you get beat as a corner,
you might as well do pass interference to not let up a touchdown
without it take 15 yards.
What?
No corner would ever do that.
Again, Savannah Smith in the paint.

Wow.
Amaruma trying to fight back with a three, no good.
Revon, oh, tough rebound must have been in as smooth.
Rose up with the left end is good.
That's huge.
She has been dominant today.
They need to keep feeding her the ball with this six-point deficit.
Savant Kirill in the paint, got it away.
Charger ball.
Charge her basketball.
That was me clapping because I'm excited.
Yeah, Chargers definitely have some momentum here.
Need to keep this momentum going in order to cover this deficit in this fourth quarter.
Yep, down six, eight forty five left in the quarter.
Savannah Smith, look at a survey.
Fondy Smith, not related.
Emma Roman gives to Savannah Smith.
Ooh, followed almost drops.
She'll be hit the line for two here.
I've got toilet bowed around and rolled out,
but she is going to get two free throws here.
Evan, what's your favorite thing in basketball?
My favorite thing in basketball?
It's a legendary four-point play.
What is your favorite thing in basketball?
I say number 11, Sydney Panasic.
She's a heck of a player.
Hecable player.
Proud of her.
as you should be.
Saw you guys practicing together yesterday.

throwing the football around.
Is that,

It has, it has.
I won't say I take all credit,

Definitely most people.
I can take all credit if you want me to.
Oh, yeah.
I just,
if I'm twisting your arm,
you will take all credit.
I did get beaten horse three times

Another unorthodox post
move by Slate's.
Slate's Casanova.
Castanova driving.

Rev. Savannah Smith.
He's going to push the fast break opportunity.
Hope to get something out of it.
I'm a Roman.
Nagy Solerisky to Petrusznik.
Donna Smith in the paint.
Oh, man.
Every time she gets the ball in the queen,
he's got a feeling it wants to go in,
but won't go.
No, we'll not go.
I mean, she's been very hot today, but
unfortunately unable to make that one.
I mean, you're never going to make every shot.
Nope.
Swing the ball around the top.
Slates, again, weird post stuff.
She can cast it over top of the key.
To Mullet, bullet driving baseline.
Swings it out to Badali.
Badali for three won't go.
Rebound slates.
She's some kind of out of control.
Madness, but she seems to be in control.
Slice goes up for the two-pointing no good.

Welcome back to Radio Free Hills on 101.1.1.7 FM.
Women's Basketball. I'm Colin. I'm Evan.
Looking at the stats here,
Hillsdale basketball has four people
with points. Petrusuk for the 11.
Maggie Solarski with two. Amelia Slarski
was six and Savannah Smith.
Shooting 10 for 15 from the field,
23 points. The workforce of the day.
We'd love to have some other ladies
heat up here down the stretch as it's a
five point game, seven minutes left in the game.
Chargers down five.
they're called offensive foul, man offense defense, same thing to me.
Defensive foul on Ashland.
A lot of defensive fouls by Ashley.
Playing physical brand of ball.
We'd be interested to see down the stretch that fouls become an issue.
Petersick for three.
Off the inbound, no good.
Castanova at the board.
The only good news for the Eagles is that much of their fouls are spread around amongst their players.
So not a lot of players in foul trouble except the big man number 24.
Who is three fouls?
Lopez swings it out to heribedean herabidium for three won't go big relief that's wide open three
is Emma Rulman has a ball driving cast Lenova called charge didn't look like she had her feet set but that's why I'm not a referee
looks like a soft cowl if you ask me but I'm also not a referee definitely tough to see that
47 charges down five as they're implementing the full court press.
We're going to apply a little bit of pressure.
Maybe let they actually knew who's get ahead of themselves as they break the press across half court.
Yeah, they were trying to get a trap there, unable to get it, you know, a little half court trap.
You trap, and you're trapped in the corner and you cover both their outlet passes.
Castleenova seems to Haribedean.
Haribedean goes up with the right.
Tough lay, won't go.
Rebound Savannah Smith.
The Salarsky Twins are back in.
They're looking to get some quick shots off.
Nagy Salarsky.
swings the Rulman in the corner.
All three of your three-point shooters
just two Salarsky twins
and features that girl on the court together.
Savannah Smith goes up to the right misses,
says, I'll get the board.
I can do this myself.
Goes up again.
Angel Reese type play right there.
That's called a me-bound.
Greg Jones.
Slace, top of the key.
Chargers down three.
Alyssa Lopez trying to drive.
They can call foul.
Deven's a foul against Emma Rulman.
The foul is on the floor, so not shooting.
Both teams have three fouls here early in this fourth quarter.
In women's basketball, you get to five fouls.
You're automatically in the double bonus.
There is no single bonus here.
Fun fact.
Different from men's basketball.
As Badali has a ball, 15 seconds left in the shot clock, top of the key.
going to the wing, swings it back to Slates.
Slates looking to work on Savannah Smith.
Takes a weird mid-range.
Low-go, rebound Savannah Smith.
It is nothing personal but weird.
Very odd style of basketball.
She has made some great shots.
I mean, I don't get how she does it,
but it's a very odd style of basketball.
Not trying to be mean, just calling out how I see it.
He's a great pass by Petrazek.
Gives the Smith in the pain and she gets fouled.
Going to the line.
And that's going to be her fourth foul.
Oh, never mind, that's her second foul.
Who in the world had three fouls earlier?
Probably Kira Hill, number 14.
No, she only had one.
Interesting.
Would love to have a little database here with all the facts.
Savannah Smith missed her first free throw.
Not happy about it.
Hopefully she flushes that.
A three-point game here with five minutes left
because your chargers are down, 3, 47, 44,
and she misses the second free throw.
Misses the second free throw, too.
That could come to bite the chargers in the behind.
Mollett top of the key
Trying to work on
Maggie Swarski
He's looking at open play
Mollett mid-range shot will drop
And just a great shot there on Mollett
As Emilio Swarski
He has ball, top the key Petrazek
Chargers got to score here
Really trying to get to Savannah Smith
but can't find her
Trying to every way possible
We can't figure out how to get in
And they found a way
Smith, working on the post.
He's going to call foul.
On number 24, Flates.
That is her third now.
That's her third foul.
As Keira Hill is going to come in.
And we're going to be calling a timeout here.
Media timeout.
Media timeout here.

I'm Colin.
I'm Evan.
I'll see you after break.
Today we'll be talking about a city named after perhaps one of the coolest
people in American history, Houston, Texas. Founded on August 30th, 1836 by land investors,
the city gets its name from the general and politician Sam Houston. Houston led Texas to independence
from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto, just 25 miles from the future site of Houston, Texas,
and taking place months before the city's founding. The city served as the capital of the Republic
of Texas, which existed from March 2, 1836 to February 19, 1846, before it became the 28th,
state. Houston, the man, served as the president of the Republic of Texas for most of its existence,
and was one of the inaugural senators representing Texas after it became a state. He is a long and
impressive military career and was a respected politician. It seems fitting that there should be a
major city named after someone as influential and impressive as Sam Houston. This is Megan Pitcock,
and you've been listening to What's in a Name on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Just as you heard, we're on Radio Free Hills.
101.7 FM. I'm Colin. I'm Evan.
Women's college basketball. Charger basketball, that is. Hillsdale, down five.
421 left in the fourth quarter. Savannah Smith at the line.
Missing her last two, but hopefully won't let it affect her.
She drains the first one.
She has been, Hillsdale's leading point score by a wide margin and been the most dominant
player in this game on either side.
There she goes, swishes too, nothing but nylon, as they say.
Ellie Bruce comes in from Savannah Smith
A watch needed breather
As she has 27 points
For the Chargers right now
That 27 out of 46
More than half of the Chargers points
Oh
Wow, good defensive play by Ellie Bruce
Batten away
The Inlet past Akira Hill
Charger ball down three
We've seen this point so many times
where the chargers have been down two or three points
and haven't been able to tie or get the lead back
since that first or second quarter.
So, I mean, you see something different here.
There's seven seconds left in this shot caught.
We got four shooters in the game.
As Annalise goes up with the left and we'll go.
Chargers down one, 3.30 left.
I think it might be time to stand up.
It is indeed time for us to stand up as Chargers are down one.
This late in the fourth quarter.
Casanova
Swings out the Badali
Over to Mullet
Over to Harrimedean
Hair Median looking to work
Gives to Kirill Lopez
Check that
Kirill
Kira Hill goes up with the right
No good
Rebond Elie Boos
One point game here
Charges Dita 2 to take the lead
For the first time
Since the second quarter
Nagy Silarovsky
Servan the court
Looking to set up a play
Annali's Pucuzziuk in the corner
Swing to Emilia Silarsky
Emili Solarski working
Amoruman, good screen
Emma Rulman for three
We'll go!
We're the first lead in a while.
51-49, charger lead,
and this crowd is getting wild.
T-shirts are being thrown everywhere.
What a game this is.
2.30 left in the game.
Majali, for three for Ashland.
Oh, go, rebound Petrazek.
Maggie Silarski.
Looking to stop the same thing.
Getting an open shot for one of her shooters.
Emilie Silarski
Amarumann who just made the three
over to Petrazek
looking at the screen
Emma Rulman
Surveing
finds Magdalena Solarski
Maggie Slarski
We're going to step back three
Find Bruce the paint
What a pass
Allie Bruce goes up and gets a bucket
Hills they want four with less than two minutes to go
What an absolutely electric game is asking
It's first to call a timeout
Now down four points
I don't know if you can hear it but this crowd is
screaming. So we are going to go to a short break. 30-second timeout.
Jesus and the radio for Yelsdale, 101.7 FM. I'm Evan. I'm Colin. We'll see you after the break.
This is The Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group. It is highly probable you never heard the name Whitcomb Judson.
But it is highly improbable that you don't use his invention every single day in numerous ways.
Born in Chicago in 1843,
Judson turned out to be a natural born inventor.
Unfortunately, most of his inventions were unworkable.
That is all but one.
In 1893, he was granted a patent for his clothes-gathering locking device.
However, that device didn't catch on until 1918 when the Navy ordered thousands of them for their new flying suits.
And shortly thereafter, the whole world were using zippers.
This has been the Making of America.
I'm Michael Emerson, and you can visit us at jeffersonmediagroup.com.
Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.1.7 FM.
I'm Colin.
Barnburner and Don Tibbitts Potter.
Ashlin Ball, a minute 45 left.
It's crunch time now.
Let's see what we can do.
Who has honk?
Who doesn't?
Charters lead 53 to 49.
Casanova swings it out to Bada.
Badaw try to drive.
Eric basketball.
No, it for three.
We'll go.
What a shot.
A point game here.
Charge or lead.
Charge release by one.
That was an incredible three by
Mullet.
It's a tough one to see go down
through the Chargers.
But hey, Amelia Swazka in the wing.
You do not slow down here
if you're in the Chargers.
You have to stay hot on offense.
They're going to start fouling soon.
Oh, Emerald.
So Savannah Smith goes up on the left.
Won't go.
Emerulman almost gets the board.
Goes out of bounds.
Ashland basketball.
Down one.
Men's players running by.
Nice breeze on my back.
Minute, seven seconds left.
One point game, this is what we live for.
As Mullet takes the ball at the court,
we're going to be a screen from Kirill.
Walt doesn't want it, she's good.
Malt loses the ball.
To me, it seems that Ashton's playing very nervous right now.
Cary Hill, top of the key for three.
Second of the game, won't go.
Eberul and rebound, tough board gets a go.
as there's an issue and I'm not sure what it is.
So Coach Breonna Brennan tried to call a timeout
and the rest are telling her something.
So she tried to call a timeout as soon as Emma Roman had the ball in her hands
that she saw that she was falling, didn't want her to travel.
So now the rest are having a discussion here as to what the timeout.
We're going to get a 30-second timeout for the charge.
You're listening to Ray, Freehills.
You know, check that.
We can stay on the mic here.
We will stay on the mic here.
One point game here.
of the Chargers. You are still listening to Radio for Hillsdale 1-1.1.7 FM. But one-point game here,
Chargers lead, 30-second timeouts. What's the offensive plan here? Offensive plan. You got to get the
ball to Savannah Smith. Get the ball to Savannah Smith. They're going to die. Let her go in the
paint. Let her dominate like she has all game. 27 points of Hillsdale is 53. Absolutely
dominant performance by her. You have three shooters in the game. Don't be afraid to shoot the
three-pointer. Even if Asson scores here, you still have a chance to come back, no matter what.
This is the last possession. There's still 44 seconds.
So in my opinion, you score quick here.
If you don't get to, honestly, if you don't get the ball inbound it,
Ashton might foul.
We'll see.
But Ashton looks like they're going to press here.
It's worth of this timeout.
The Chargers have struggled against the press in the past,
but, you know, you got your best players out there.
You got your shooters.
You got everything you need out there.
You got four shooters and Savannah Smith in.
As they break half court, broke the press.
And we said, I'll do this myself.
Great job by Annalise Pitcher Zikvair.
As it's looking like they're going to chew the clock.
a little bit.
Find Savannah Smith.
Top of the key to Emilius Salarski
trying to find an inlet pass to Annalise
Petrusik.
Ashton electing not to find...
And moving for three.
Oh, won't go.
Revised Mano! Removins Smith!
Won't go. Remarlese!
Zalarski!
As they're going to call...
Somebody's going to get hurt.
Is they're going to call a jump ball?
Possession arrow.
It looks like we are going to the replay booth.
Ashland calls a time out.
So we're going to have Ashland basketball.
So this is a one-point Hillsdale Charger lead.
53 to 52.
14 seconds left.
Ashton calls a timeout.
Going to be the last play of the game.
Ashland scores any kind of bucket here.
They win.
Hill still gets the stop.
They win.
This is it.
All this comes down to one play.
You're drawing up your best play that you have in your basketball playbook,
which is probably not that big compared to a full ball.
football playbook, but it does exist.
Drawing up your best play,
drawing up your best defense, putting a man
on a man, putting your fastest players in there,
do not let Asselm's Eagles
score. That is the goal here.
One point,
14 seconds, and
that's all we have left. I mean,
I'm getting goosebumps up here just thinking about
a moment like this.
It's so exciting.
So much buildup, so much opportunity,
you know, to be
the man, be the woman, stop it.
the woman to end this game.
Ashlyn, definitely going to take some time on this possession.
Wonder if Hillsdale will press a little bit here.
Just try to force the error if they can.
Show a fake press and then back off.
But Ashting is going to take this down in the last second.
Very well-coached team here.
They're going to make sure that this is the last play of the game.
We have Amelia and Magdalena Slavski,
Anley's Petrusick, Emma Rulman, and Savannah Smith out there.
14.4 left on the game clock.
Sideline inbounds.
for the ashen university eagles we're going to get the ball in finds bullet in the corner
bullet driving called off into foul on magdalena slavski wouldn't let her get to the basket
defense foul every single time every single time so that is annelis petricks and alex
fowl ashon is going to call another time out so 11 seconds here thankfully they had one foul
left to get into a double bonus so game's not over yet
Give them a foul, you know, this is what basketball is, you know.
You don't have any more fouls to give you.
11 seconds left.
Ball is going to be imbounded kind of underneath the basket, but not quite.
Ashton called the timeout.
One point game, Ashland scores, Ashton wins.
No-Sill Chargers just need one stop here.
53, 52, 11.2 seconds left.
You've got to play your most scout defense here.
You've got to be the most discipline you possibly can be.
Light on your feet.
heavy on the toes ready to jump you know both teams have one timeout so if ashland does not get this ball
inbounded they could still call another timeout here so they're gonna drop a good inbound pass here
that's the goal get the ball inbounded hopefully underneath the basket but underneath the basket's where
ashland's struggle all game they've been much better on that short jumpers that's what they've been
dominating hillstale i'll tell you what if you're in the car right now you might want to pull over
this is basketball here but dolly top the key trying to find mullet
struggling to find anybody but Jali kids in the slates in the paint four three
Slates goes up no ground rebound they call a foul they call a shooting foul on
slates with point eight left bro no oh no and that foul is going to be against
annulies petritch which makes it her fifth foul she's going to check out of the game
0.0 or 0.8 seconds left excuse me so comes down to these two free throws if she makes two they win
she missed one she missed one the first she missed one is no good she missed one point eight seconds left
here got to get loud here for the game the crowd is going wild a free throw here for the game
Ashland.
And they win on two missed free throws.
What an amazing game we had here from start to finish.
Shout out, definitely the player of the game.
Savannah Smith, 27 points.
Dominant performance for the Hillsdale Chargers.
53, 52 win.
Just cut Ashton's 14-game win streak against the Chargers here in 2026.
Huge win for the Chargers.
Wow, what a game.
from Savannah Smith absolutely dominant charges couldn't have done it without her
oh could have done it absolute team effort in that one-point game every basket
counted and able to squeak out of victory as your hillside charters improved to
nine and seven so a winning record here for your chargers as they list to make this
top push as we get closer to conference tournament what an unbelievable finish to the game
I'm just so proud of these ladies I've got to keep it rolling
Yeah, balls does not lie.
No.
Thank you for listening to Hillsdale Chargers,
Women's Basketball, Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
