takes the three. It's outside to Tavon. Tavon takes the three. Got that one. Back-to-back threes from the Chargers and they pulled ahead by three.
They'll charge your basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM starts now.
Good evening. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM and this is Charger Basketball. I'm Mora Gleeson. I'm here with Christian Pathyon and this is the Chargers versus Northwood. The Northwood
Timberwolves here at Don Tibbitts Potter Arena and we're just 30 seconds out from the tip
off here. Christian, do you want to introduce the starting lineup? Yes, thank you. So for Northwood,
we have Mackenzie Todd, Ali Kaiser, Maisie Taylor, Maddie Volker, and Jaila Strickland. And then for
the Hillsdale College Chargers, we have Lauren McDonald, Sydney Mills,
Kendall McCormick, Caitlin Splain, and Ashley Conkall.
That's right. And Sydney Mills, a senior forward from DeWitt, Michigan.
She is back from an injury right now. This is her second game.
And she actually was injured in the last game against Northwood on December 9th.
So she's back on the floor, hoping to get some revenge tonight.
We have Lauren McDonald, a junior guard from Chicago, Illinois.
Kendall McCormick, also a junior guard from Hinkley, Ohio, Caitlin Splain, sophomore, and Ashley Conkle, a senior.
It's the national anthem on the court right now.
And just a few moments from tip off here.
Hillsdale enters this game 9 and 8 overall, 5-4 in the G-Mac, and Northwood enters this game 9 and 6 over.
Overall, five and three in the GMAC.
Pretty evenly matched.
Of course, Hillsdale's looking to get that revenge from the last time.
They were up against each other here.
Hillsdale is currently on a win streak.
They enter this game with three straight victories over teams that were all ahead of them in the conference standings.
So if Hillsdale can keep this going, they might have a spot in the GMAC tournament.
They went to the GMAC tournament last year for the first time in several years.
But this year they're replacing three starters.
And they have a team that's returning, strong core that played on the bench last season.
Senior Sidney Mills is their only returning starter.
She has averaged a double-double in each of the past three seasons
and is on track to become the program's all-time leading rebounder in her final season here at Hillsdale.
She can stay healthy.
In addition to Mills, Hills Hillsdale has several players who look primed for breakout seasons in 2023 through 24.
Air Force transfer Lauren McDonald is a key piece who just joined the starting lineup this year.
She could be on track here to make.
a real breakout in this season.
Caitlin Sleynne and Kendall McCormick have been, have grown considerably here in the past
couple of seasons.
And we have Danny Holbein and Ashley Conkle, two seniors returning here.
Looking over at Northwood, we have, they're sitting right in the top four of the GMAC right now,
looking towards that tournament. The Timberwolves have some solid returners from last year.
Returning two key players, Jala Strickland and Ali Kaiser, they combined to play just three games last
season due to injuries. So they are back on the court this season. And those two players average
20.4 points per game for the Timberwolves now that they're healthy and are joined by
the guard McKenzie Todd. 2023 through 2020.
or 2022 through 2023, Kee-Mac Honorary, as well as post-Ava DiMali and Maddie Volker,
and their point guard, Mizi Taylor.
So we have introductions of the starting lineup here on the court,
Lauren McDonald, number three, and here comes number five, Sydney Mills.
Good to see her back in the starting lineup.
There is number 15, Kendall McCormick.
Here comes Caitlin Spley, number 30.
Number 31, Ashley Conkle, starting center for the Chargers.
And that's your starting lineup for the Hillsdale Chargers.
Hoping to get their third win here on their home court, finish out that.

Northwood basketball, number 12, bringing it up the court here.
Lauren McDonald, bringing it all the way up.

yes it's important that they take advantage as much as possible as the second
chance points they're 5 and 0 when they get at least 15 second chance points
and their second in the league in offensive rebounds so it should factor into a lot more chance

Welcome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
I'm Lauren Smith, and today we're going to talk about one of my favorite grammatical mistakes,
dangling modifiers. Consider the sentence, exhausted after school, even coffee,
couldn't keep me awake. You probably know exactly what I mean, so at least it's clear,
but it's also pretty grammatically wonky. That long modifier at the beginning of the sentence,
exhausted after school, is clearly supposed to be modifying I, but it actually modifies the subject
coffee, which if you think about it doesn't make any sense. Can coffee even get tired?
The key here is to remember that when you have a dangling modifier at the beginning of a sentence,
it will usually modify the subject of the following clause. So you could reword.
this to say, exhausted after school, I couldn't stay awake even after drinking a huge cup of coffee.
And that would be correct. That's your grammar minute.
And we're back on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. It is the second quarter, Hillsdale versus Northwood here.
Northwood is up 25 to 20 and onto this Potter arena. We have nine minutes and 41 seconds left in

He'll still putting lots of pressure as that shot clock runs down.
Desperate shot from the Timberwolves.
Chargers get the rebound.
That's Caitlin.
Pass to Lauren McDonald.
She's going to work for the layup.

diving in, looks for Ashley Conkall, Ashley gets a ball looking for a layout, and that's two points for Ashley Conkall, and it's like she got a foul call there too.
I have a point for an extra chance for an extra point here. Especially since Conkull is one of the team's better free throw shooters. Over 80% from the line.
Ashley Conkull with one chance here.
And she makes it beautiful.
That'll put Hillsdale up one more.
Northwood's still leading 27 to 22.
Holesdale's starting to put some pressure on them.
Northwood, looking for two from inside the paint.
And Emma Ruman grabs that defensive rebound.
Immediately passes off to Spleen.

at the end of this third quarter
Christian what did you
there. Yeah, it was just, like, they weren't positioned correctly to get the rebound, so
gave Northwood a chance to get the fast break there. Both teams today have been very aggressive
shooting three with 29 three-point attempts from Hillsdale and 23 for Northwood.
All right, we will be back right after this for the fourth quarter. It's going to be a close one
here tonight. 61 to 57. You're listening to Charger Basketball on Radio 3 Hillsdale, 101.7 FM,
and he will be right back. This is the Making of America from the Jefferson Media Group.
On August 28, 1963, on a brisk day in the shadows of the Lincoln Memorial, one man shared
his dream with a quarter million people gathered before him. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a
Baptist preacher inspired his audience and the entire country to get behind the civil rights legislation
proposed by President Kennedy, but opposed by his fellow Democrats in the Senate.
By professing his hope that one day people will be judged by the quality of their character
rather than the color of their skin, Dr. King birthed a movement that helped pass that legislation
11 months later on July 2nd, 1964.
This has been the Making of America.

Northwood is up by 10.72 to 62 here in the fourth quarter.
Just five minutes and 17 seconds left for Hillsdale to dig themselves out of that hole.
Christian, what have you been seeing in the last few minutes here?
I've been seeing how Northwood's been taking a lot of advantage of their rebounds.
They've outrebounded Hillsdale 41 to 34 so far today,
and they have 15 second chance points,
so they're really taking advantage where they get an offensive rebound.
And that's unusual for Hillsdale.
Hillsdale has been out rebounding its competition recently in their last game.
That was their advantage of them.
over Kentucky Wesleyan out rebounded I think 48 to 32 but I'd have to check on that
so Hillsdale usually added an advantage with the rebounds really struggling in that
area this time Northwood with a full court court court press you're putting a lot of
pressure on charge your offense Annalise Petriezick gets the ball and a layup two
points where Annalie Petriezerich
Hillsdale

Number 25, Maddie Volker.
Shooting two from the free throw line for Northwood.
Free throws have been a big difference in this game.
Northwood is 10 for 11 so far and Hillsdale's three for nine.
So free throws are a big part of this margin that we're seeing right here.
Maddie Volker makes that first throw for Northwood.
And this is the second.
Sydney Mills went for the rebound.
And it's going to be charger basketball.
Lauren McDonald, bringing the ball up the court for the chargers now.
