7 FM. You're here with Hillsdale football players. I'm Colin McCurnan. And I'm Gabe Thiemar.
Welcome back to Don Tibbitt's Potter Arena. The Hillsdale Chargers squaring up against a
hardy Northwood Timberwolves team. We're going to look at the lineups here. Gabe, what are you seeing
so far? What do you think the key is where the Chargers is today? I think they need to dominate
the paint. You know, Northwood, they're Northwood's desperate. Their team backed in a corner.
They've lost two of their last four, and they really need a win here tonight to secure a top
foreseeing the GMAC championship.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yep, GMAC championships come up here.
Hillsdale looking to make a late push for that tournament spot.
Recently, two Hillsdale Chargers for the 1,000 points,
Warren McDonald and Caitlin Splain,
as there are the two leading scores for the charges,
followed by Savannah Smith, Kendall McCormick, and Petrazik.
The Timberwolves leading scores.
Leah Holmes averaging a hardy 16 points a game,
followed by Maddie Volkler, 14.5 and Maive,
John a 13.3.
Looks like they have a great offense here, the Northwood Timberwolves.
Hillsdale Chargers need to continue to be stout on defense.
They have been in the past few games.
As the Chargers are being introduced in Dawn Tibbet's Potter Arena today,
it is pink out in memory of a fallen student, a past student.
Very heartfelt message earlier today.
Looking like starting lineup is going to be fresh.
Benjamin L.E. Bruce, Emma Rulman, Kendall McCormick, Caitlin Splain, and Lauren McDonald. Chargers.
Again, we're in pink. Fun fact. I played football against Maive St. John's brother.
Really? I did. I did. Shout out Brighton High School. Shout out Howell High School. Not really, though.
Rivals over there. A lot of local guys. A lot of local players here for Northwood.
Celine, Midland, Hazlett, Romeo Howell, Oxford, Lake Benton.
Goodrich, Lowell, East Lansing, and Gaylord, very Michigan-centered team.
As compared to Hillsdale, very Ohio-based.
A lot of Ohio kids.
Actually, only one Michigan kid here.
So, a little fun fact to point out, an in-state matchup, the G-MAC's only in-state matchup.
As opposed to the second northernmost team in the G-MAC.
Fun fact again.
Just tossing fun facts out there today.
Oh, yeah.
And again, we're going to, a player to watch today is Lauren McDonnell recent 1,000-point achiever,
making it the 22nd in Hillsdale history, Hillsdale Women's Basketball history.
Fantastic feat, but I'm going to look for a big game on her today.
She's going to be key in riled up on the court.
She's going to be key in making the offense flow, great center, elite center in this league.
this offense rides through her and Caitlin's playing.

Welcome back to Don Tibbers Potter Arena.
Chargers stood up 11 to 7
with four minutes left in the first period.
Started out slow, Gabe, but they picked it up.
What do you think?
They are, and I think Caitlin's playing is really getting into a groove.
She's had a nice three and two really good drives the basket.
I think her speed is just something that Northwood cannot match right now.
No, absolutely.
I agree with that.
I mean, we're just going to have to see here that the charges can keep the shooting up,
and they're getting the rebounds, too.
As Ma'A. St. John swings it to match.
Maddie Volkler in the corner from Goodrich and it's good.
11 to 10 chargers as Sularski checks into the game.
Sularski, the freshman, the freshman from Limon, Illinois.

As Alec Vinatius swings in the corner, long pass to Petrazek. Won't go, but they're going to call a foul on the chargers, I believe, as a mass substitution is in. Splane.

As St. John, taking the ball up, guarded tightly by McCormick.
He swings it over to McKenzie Bell, the sophomore from Sue St. Marie, Michigan.

As Maiv St. John
finds McKenzie Bell
for a three point on the left wing
making the score 18-17 Timberwolves.
As McDonald's swings it in, past batted away, but recovered by McDonald.
As it's a fast break opportunity, it's transitioned to that at least.
McDonald's back to the key, all calm down.
Rulman again from mid-range won't go, rebound as the Timberwolves throw the ball away.
Tough tight the miscue from number 13, St. John for Northwood.
Yeah, Rulman came out, come out of nowhere after missing that shot, followed or
shot. Caust some pressure just a throw away there. As McDonald on the inbound, we're going to find a cutter.
Finds Petra Zick at the top of the left wing. As Petra Zick's driving left. We're going to get a shot up.

I think it's great that they've been able to score
inside because when you've got some plane
outside, you know the points are going to fall from the perimeter.
Be able to score inside on this
Northwood inner three.
That's huge. Yeah, absolutely.
As it's looking like Timberl's a transition
to a half-court press.
Looks like they're falling back.
Falling back in the zone.
Yep, back to the zone.

Costly turnover there, Gabe.
It is costly and we'll see how Northwood responds and how we can lock up on defense, but would have like to have a basket there.
Yeah, we'd love to have that one back there. Love to have that one back.
I'm sure she thinks that too.

three to the Timberwolves game. What do you think the keys are here for the Chargers?
I think Hillsdale needs to continue to run around, cut, and set great screens on offense.
Yep, yep. I think the wolves are chasing, and I think it's only, I don't know if this is sustainable for the second half.
Yeah, absolutely, I agree with that.
As believe it or not, there are Disney princesses in Don Tippett's Potter Arena right now.

as they're going to call foul on Annalise Petrazik.
That'll be her first.
Relatively clean games here so far,
as far as fouls go,
as the Timberwol.
are inbounding from underneath the hoop.
St. John, looking, looking.
In the past to Volkler.
Volkler, another nice lay there.
She's having a great game.
She's showing out here, 11 points in the first half here so far.
High scoring a fair, 45-36 chargers are down nine.
The Timberwolves.
As McDonald drives right, goes up with it, and one.
Lauren McDonald.
Tough lay and one basket.
One of those plays you expect to see
from one of the best players this conference.
Absolutely.
As McDonald is shooting,
76% from the free throw line here.
A sure shooter from the line.
As I jinxed it, she missed the free throw.
Chargers down seven.
That's St. John, taking the ball up
with a minute left in the first half.
My, you're St. John, put on some nice dribble moves.
Organizing our troops to get a play in.
St. John, working herself.
basket goes over the right that's all my st. John that's a little right-handed bucket
between Donald again going to go to by St. John trying to get in there but can't
Alex Vinesh's driving left can't find it's playing top of the key step back three won't
shoot stolen by St. John St. John making a push 30 seconds left behind the back late that was
unreal that was that was unreal I've never seen something like that in
before that was incredible behind the back going up up and around the rim wow just a behind the back
euro step to a reverse layup one of the most if not the most impressive play I've ever seen
that was incredible by myief st. John again from howell michigan as the refs are deliberating
something could be talking about what they had for lunch earlier or could be talking about basketball
we'll never know never know talking to the scorekeeper
as they're going to call a personal foul or technical foul on the chargers.
Not sure what that's about.
Did they say number 13 Maryland Popwell?
I believe so.
Interesting. We didn't get a chance to see what that was.
But.
We have Bruce subbing in for Popwell.
Ah, I see it's a double tech.
It must have been a little scuffle there or something.
A chance for two points, one free point each.
That'll cut the differences as McDonald.
This is another one.
Unfortunate.
And she's shooting another.
Makes it.
Quetta bounce back there.
Scores 39 to 50, Timberwolves over the Chargers.
29.5 seconds left.
In the first half, as Vocler subs out.
Volker subs out for Avery Parker from Gaylor, Michigan.
I'm playing.
Started by Bowers.
We're going to drop a play here.
They can get the last shot if they'd so choose to.
That's what I think they're going with here.
Looks like got a little play.
Nice little mid-range for McDonald won't go.
Rebound number 15.
Savannah Fellenbaum.
Fellonbaum to Bowers.
Bowers pushing the pace.
Seven seconds left.
five four
bower drives left swings out of the hoop
to Fennembaum
Fellenbaum gets a lay up to go
right before the half
Let him bring the Chargers
Down 13 to go to the break
39 to 52
We'll see you after the break

And we'll see you after the break
Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsdale
101.7 FM. I'm Colin
And I'm Gabe
Coming out of the break here, what do you expect to see from the Chargers here, Gabe?
What do they need to do to get a big cut in that 13-point deficit they have?
I'm expecting them to slow it down on offense and allow them to get settled on defense.
I think the dischargers defense, they need to focus on getting just one stop at a time.
Yeah.
That's what's the key for this comeback.
Yeah, I mean, you can't let the Timberwolves get hot.
On the other note, though, I don't think you can let the Chargers get hot, you know?
Not at all.
I think you've got to have the charges get hot and stay hot.
They're streaky shooting team.
I mean, they'll miss some shots here.
It'll go a little bit.
When they start hitting, they'll hit.
I think getting ourselves into that rhythm could really help us win this game.
Look out for some possible double teams.
It's added pressure on Wolves player Maddie Volker.
She's been great in the corner so far.
But I think McDonald's Blaine and the rest of the Chargers,
I think they've got it.
Absolutely.
Another player for the Timberwolves to watch this half,
Maive St. John, absolute baller out there in the first half.
I would say there's no answer for her, but, again, she's been streaky.
And when the charge is on her, she's just taking good shots, that's all.
Yeah, she's got great shots.
I think that's something the charges can work on.
Limiting those four shots, getting into your shooters,
let them shoot open threes.
Good shots are all you can ask for here.
Cut this lead.
No need to play Superman here.
It's 13 points. What is that?
Four possessions, five possessions.
Yeah.
Five possession difference over the entire game here.
I mean, we're talking.
A lot of game left.
A lot of game left.
This game is far from over.
And the Chargers, from what I've seen, have been a second-half team.
And that's pretty good to know.
To see me the deficit right now.
But Chargers here on the year shooting 34% from 3.
as compared to Northwood's
27.8%, which is notable.
I don't think 27.8% as a team is exactly where you want to be.
But it looks like so far, they've been shooting really, really well.
They have, and it's interesting.
Coming from head coach of Northwood,
Autumn Hagadone
Their team is
They haven't abandoned the three
For how their season's gone so far from the arc
And again, Northwood
That's a 12 and 11 record 9 and 5 in conference
As compared to the Chargers 16 and 7
With 13 and 3 in conference
So a very big difference here
Looking like
Northwood as a team
is not doing too hot in the fourth quarter
Chargers
are the strongest in the fourth quarter
looking at these point charts here
second half team not so much for the
Timberwolves. Chargers
bolster that tough
third and fourth quarter offense
paired with some tough defense
as well. I mean
they're plus minus in the third and fourth quarter
combined. I'm just doing
quick brain mad here.
50 and plus 90
in the second half overall through the season.
So hopefully to continue that, I mean, realistically,
what's 13 points for a couple of chargers, right?
Exactly.
If Northwood's a team that needs to win,
the charges are a team who know how to win.
Yeah, absolutely.
And have been here before,
and I think that experience is what's going to pull through.
Yeah.
You were saying earlier that Timberwolves did beat the chargers
earlier in the season?
Yes, yes.
They have.
So that's notable.
It's tough.
Some teams are tough to beat in the GMAC here.
We know that through football.
There's teams that, you know, you can just have your number.
They know what to do against you.
Exactly.
You play multiple times a year, so, you know?
Yeah, it's tough to beat a team twice, let alone.
Chess match between coaches.
Yeah.
As we are starting in the third quarter here in Don Tibbet's Potter Arena.
Ready to kick off this second half.
Wolves inbound the ball
and St. John
up at the perimeter. Passes it to Volker
sitting in the corner, guarded by McDonald.
Passes it back to St. John.
Shoots, misses a three.
We're covered by Ellie Bruce.
As Plain
takes the ball up the court.
Looking around a play.
Gives it into Bruce.
Almost a turnover.
We're covered by Bruce though.
As McDonald has a ball.
Got it by Holmes.
A little mismatch to me.
Donald's book and takes advantage of it.
Nice right-hand lay-up there.
That's a great job, just slowing the game down on offense and just letting the lanes open up for.
Yeah, absolutely.
So we got, who is that?
Volker.
Volkner, yes.
Volkir past St. John, hanging around the three-point line.
As Volker with a beautiful cut.
Nice right-hand.
Yeah.
As McDonald.
guarded by McNeely, McNeely from Scottsdale, Arizona, who swings it over to Splain.
Northwood bench is causing a ruckus where we can hear them all the way up here.
As Rulman, top the key swings his plane.
Splain on the wing for three won't go.
As Rulman with the tough board goes up with the right,
that's going to call Fowl on Leah Holmes.
He's a good look by Splain, better rebound by Rulman,
and great job picking up.
foul. I mean, that's the line. Yeah, so open shots are all you can hope for. And they took an open
shot and they got the rebound. Good little put back there. As Rulman, first free throw. We'll go.
As Rulman is shooting 62% from the line on the season. Second shot. We'll go. Both free
throws lead down to 11 for the Timbys.
as St. John looking to break the press that the charge was put on him.
Goes with ease.
As they're going to call it a legal screen on Ella Miller.
Sophomore from East Lansing, Michigan.
As Ella Miller will be subbed out as McDonald gets the inbound from Rulman surveying.
Looking to find Bruce in the center, she does.
Looks to be their flagship play as Bruce
swings it back to McDonald
over to Rulman top of the wing
and display in the top of the key
Inlet past to Bruce
Bruce goes up and she's fouled
by Leah Holmes
Great job by the Chargers
really getting north but back on their heels
two fouls and two possessions
Yeah that's just beautiful ball moving there by the
Chargers as Bruce
You get 45% from the line on the year
Misses her first
one.
Open.
Drop this second one.
Keep to her average.
She shoots it.
Won't go.
Rebound McDonald.
Nice offensive rebound.
We're back to square one.
As plain as ball in the wing.
Into Bruce.
Bruce puts it up.
Won't go.
Rebound by who is that.
Leah Holmes.
Leah Holmes gives us to St. John.
Putting work on McCormick.
Driving.
Under the hoop.
puts up a tough lay on the floor.
They're going to call a foul on McCormon.
Wolves on the fast break
Getting to draw their own foul on the chargers
Myiv
Shooting
St. John. St. John shooting her
First one won't go.
81% from the line but misses her first one
uncharacteristic
Maive St. John
That's her second one is up
Will go. Donald
putting work in on McNeely
Swings to the Rulman
Rulman trying to find a cutter
Finds splain under the hoop
McCormick top of the key
Driving inlet pass to
Bruce Bruce goes up with the right
Won't go
Rebound St. John
St. John a heave
To
Heave to Leah Holmes
Blahomes
Bats it down out of bounds
Charger basketball
Not the smartest pass
By Northwood
No that's something
The Chargers need to capitalize
Off of
As a quarterback
Thrown into
Quadruple coverage over there
It's not something you want to do, at least regularly.
As Alec Venetius is subbing in, check that.
We got Petrusik Popwell and Alex Venetius for McCormick, Rulman, and Bruce.
That's Petruzik. Nice little pass.
They're going to call it a jump ball, but the arrows pointed to Hillsdale.
It'll remain down on our side of the courts.
We're going to McDonald passing the ball in.
Coach is yelling for the Timberwolves.
That's passion right there.
As Alvinna's found, gives in to Popwell.
Popuel wants to go up with it, and she does.
Don't go, but rebound McDonald.
McDonald swings it to Splane.
Splane driving right.
Oh, my gosh.
What a pass.
Oh, missed by Popwell.
But gets the rebound.
Beautiful Inlet pass by Splain to Popwell.
Misses her first one, but gets a rebound and puts it back up.
Great determination, getting the ball in the net.
She knew that she was going to get yelled at if she.
Missed that second one.
As it's stolen by McDonald's at the other end, quick steal.
As swings at the splain, back to McDonald's swinging around.
Driving right uses a screen, fadeaway middy, will go.
A poetic.
Great job creating her own space on the fadeaway.
And like they needed, the lead is cut down to eight.
It was six minutes, 20 seconds left at the second half.
Check that third quarter.
As McNeely swings it back out top.
to Bowers
Bowers gives to Holmes
Holmes
looking to put work on Popwell
Tough way
by
Leah Holmes
as McDonald
taking the ball up
the other way
10 point lead
for the Timberwolves
as
poor spacing by the charges
leads some confusion
but they end up getting
the ball down to Popwell
who's looking to put work up
blocked by Holmes
but it'll stay down
by the Chargers
etched athletic play by
by Leah Holmes on that defensive stand.
As Holmes and McNally are subbed out for McKenzie Bell and Vokler.
Fun fact, Vokler is his daughter of the assistant coach of the Timber Wolves team.
Just found that out.
As McDonald takes a little mid-range, won't go.
Alex Venetius tries to get the board and won't.
As Bowers taking the ball up, run by McDonald.
In the pass to Bell.
Doug goes up and gets the tough lay.
One thing about Northwood, really efficient.
Yeah.
Inside the inner line.
They try their hardest and they're good at it.
Splane driving baseline, kick to Popwell.
Popwell goes up, blocked.
Check that foul.
Foul on Ella Miller.
Great pass by Splane to Miller before the foul.
they're gonna be announced she's gonna call that taryn jackson number 32 but from our vantage it looked like 33 so i suppose that follows on terran jackson
from lowell michigan as pop-a-well makes their first free throw the ref is talking to coach briannebrennan
wonder what was said is pop well second free throw up and home as popal well and who is that
Splane, subbed out for Bruce and McCormick as the Chargers are putting a full court press on.
Broken easily.
Bowers has the ball guarded by Petrazig.
As Taryn Jackson swings it down to Ella Miller.
Ella Miller, drop step up with the right over Bruce.
We'll go.
As McDonald's taking the ball up, call him three.
That's a play, I guess.
As McCormick in the past, Alex Venetius, Elvon,
working trying to get a shot won't
McDonald puts up a shot
nice little middy
McDonald's quick catch the pass
and put it up
midrange is her game as the lead is 10
points for the Timberwolves
as an almost errant pass by
Volkler is recovered
by Bowers
as a three is going to be shot by
McKenzie Bell won't go but rebound
Timberwolves
as they're going to call foul on the floor
after there was a little
ruckus. Foul on Kendall McCormick.
As Swayne was going to sub in, but now we're going to go to immediate timeout here.

Colin. I'm Gabe. Chargers down 10, with 415 left in the third period.
here. Again, Chargers
trying to fight back, but
offense Northwood is just fighting them
hard.
Yes, and both defenses
fouling much more in this
second half. It felt like we had four fouls in the
first half, and we probably had about six
in six minutes. Yeah, I mean,
it's just important for these chargers
to keep with it. I mean,
we're almost in build today.
Little by little. Little by little
is all needed. As we have
Petrizik, Bruce, Blaine, McDonnell and Rulman on the floor.
As Timberwolves are inbounding, under the hoop, gives it to Holmes.
Holmes puts on a tough lay.
We'll go as McDonald.
Fighting the half-court press.
Gets by it.
Petrizzerick in the corner.
Swings up to McDonald, top of the key.
Petrusik, on the wing for three, won't go.
rebound with 32 Terran Jackson Jackson from the Lowell, Michigan.
As St. John's back in the game, kicks into her buddy Volkler.
Volkler for three won't go.
Rebound Petrusick.
Again, pushing the pace.
McDonald's swings to Splean.
Splean, looking to shoot a three, won't.
As there's a battle on the floor, kickball violation on.
Was it on Holmes?
Yes, 22 Holmes.
We'll stay charger basketball.
Probably good for the Chargers.
That ball looked a little dangerously.
dangerous from going for a turnover
a misandled pass
oh splain inbound pass
for three blocked by st john
remains charger basketball
as mcdonald will be inbounding
12 point game chargers down
as ruleman gets the
inbound for mcdonald and ball
goes back to her
McDonald's dribbling around
finds splain who finds petersick just swinging
up around top of the key
over the top inbound pass to
Bruce, who gets it up and in for a nice lay.
Bruce having a great game so far.
The St. John. Chargers back to man-to-man.
St. John, guarded by Peter Zick.
We're going to put him some work.
Swings into Jackson.
Jackson into Holmes. Holmes.
Out to McNeely.
McNally for three, Airball.
Rebound St. John, you can call that one a pass,
because that was about as good as a pass could get there.
Up and under layup for St.
John, as there's a quick inlet pass to Bruce who swings at the Rulman.
And Rulman gets in the and one bucket.
This team is fired up.
Yeah, that might be the starter that the Chargers need.
Got a 10-point game 250 left in the third quarter.
Rulman shooting 62% again from the line as she shoots.
We'll go.
Custle lead to single digits for the Chargers.
St. John, getting pressed by Petrazic, finds Vogner as an easy out.
As Bowers has a ball in the corner, shoots a three.
Knuckleball won't go.
As we'll move to the board.
That didn't spin it all in the air.
Not once.
I'm not saying mine would, though.
I'm not sure I'd even have a rim.
McDonald's top of the key to Splane.
The Petrus is in the corner.
Pump fake, driving the last line.
Tries go tough.
Bruce with an easy shot, won't go.
As Holmes gets the rebound.
Maiv St. John pushing the pace.
Trying to get working on Rulman.
Drop step, right-hand layup.
That's tough shot, man.
Myiv's hating up right now.
As McDowell blows by,
blows by Taryn Jackson for an easy left-handed layup.
As chargers are keeping the press.
Keep the press and forcing the issue with these wolves' defense.
as Petrazing is guarding St. John.
St. John, another drop step.
No look. Pass to the corner of Vokler.
Wait, that was pretty cool.
Great pass out from the corner.
They got something going on over there right now.
Timberwolves are hot right now.
As the Rulman has the ball, the free throw line,
drop step tries to go up and under, blocked by Holmes.
As there's going to be a mass substitution, Panasic.
And Popwell coming for Rulman and Bruce.
as the charges are inbounding
underneath the hoop
run of their typical play
loop around trying to get an open three-point shooter
McDonnell driving right
mid-range that's her game and it will go
lead back down to ten points here
a minute 14 left here in the third quarter
as passed bad at the way by Popwell
McNeely driving baseline won't get it
swings it to Fettlebaum in the corner
Fellow Mom won't drop it
As there's a rebound by McNeely, as they're going to call a foul on Petruzic.
That looks like a jump ball to me.
I believe so, too.
Interesting call there.
That's Annalise Petruzik's third foul on the night.

57 seconds left on the third quarter.
Chargers down 10.
A lot of game left, but what do you need to see here?
I need to see, you know, like we said,
one defensive stop after another,
and I like to press defense on the inbound.
I think that if they could just out gas,
I don't know if Northwood could hold this lead
for a whole fourth quarter,
as long as the chargers continue to force the issue.
Yeah, need to keep pressure.
need to keep pressure.
As the Hillsdale College Pet Band, a little performance here, rally up the ladies.
But I think we've been there before. I don't know how much we're listening to the band
when we're in a game. You know, when you're down on the field or on the court, you know,
the crowd noise, it doesn't, you can't really hear it. No, it's weird. You're just so locked into
the game. It's a different kind of feeling. I think that's the love of the game right there.
looking with the injury of Savannah Smith
it's looking like
charge has been around the small ball lineups
Bruce being their only true center here
is Papuel
is acting as their center
and she's 511 so a little undersized
compared to Holmes
Holmes managing up a 6 foot
but
whatever it is from this perspective
she looks a little tall on 6 foot
she's looking big on that court
long break here
Coach is discussing.
Not sure about what.
Not sure what the occasion is.
Ergo, we have the Chargers.
On defense here to continue the third quarter.
Long break here from the refs.
St. John in the ball.
Serving finds me nearly over Swelarski as back to St. John.
We're running a play called four.
I wonder what this could be here.

Beautiful shot by McDonald.
Great physical play with the defense hands all around.
Lead down to eight points, 12 seconds left in the third quarter.
Eight seconds.
Trying to get a quick shot up.
McNeeley with the ball driving right.
In the past of Holmes.
Holmes tough lay, right.
No, I'm good.
Rebound Popple.

A Utah man who rescued his brother in an avalanche makes today's Dean's list.
Hunter and Braden Hansen were skiing on a snowy hillside
when suddenly an incredible mountain of snow started falling and buried Hunter.
He says it took seconds for the snow to fall on top of him like concrete.
He couldn't breathe or move.
Braden couldn't believe what was happening before his own eyes,
but he reacted quickly activating a special avalanche beacon,
which was able to pinpoint his brother's location underneath all of the snow.
Miraculously, Hunter's glove poked out of the snow,
and he was able to wave in hopes of alerting someone.
By the time his brother got to him, Hunter was under two feet of snow.
Braden was then able to clear the snow around his brother's head,
take off his helmet so that he could breathe.
Hunter says he will never forget what his brother did
and told him he was on his last breath before being.

Out of the break, quick three by Volkler in the corner as Petruzik goes up with the right-hand
to layup block but off of Timberwolves.
Yeah, real quick, Volkler hit a three down at the other end of the court here, making
the lead 73-62 Timberwolves as McDonald inbound into Petruzik is they're going to call
foul on McKenzie Bell.
Her second foul on the night.
McDonald's serving.
Kiss it out to Bruce.
Another foul on McKenzie Bell.
Can't keep her hands out of the cookie jar
as they'll be forced to sub in.
Bowers for McKenzie Bell.
As McDonald's yet again
bounding. Swings it out to Bruce again. Bruce to McDonald. McDonald put it in work.
Swings over to Petrazig. Petrusick to Woolman to Bruce on the basket. Nice left-handed layup by Bruce.
Great pass and really great hand-eye coordination on that layup. Tough bucket.
As they break the half-court press as McNeely is underneath the hoop, trying to get a shot up and won't.
Swings out to St. John. Nine minutes left here in the fourth quarter.
Vokler has the ball in the corner looking to put some work swings it over to Holmes almost trying to find cutter won't Holmes tough defense by Bruce very good D by Bruce rebound gives it to her buddy McDonald
McDonald driving left hosting up won't find it Bruce driving right right-hand of lay up won't go rebound St. John is here's a foul there on McDonald I thought that was just tough basketball there not not sure what I'm
we've seen there.
Interesting as
charges are going
full court press now.
There's Popwell something for Bruce.
Volkler
swings it to St. John.
St. John back to
Volkler.
Volkler back to St. John, trying to get
past half court and they do.
Should be a push-off by St. John. That's
interesting, but they're not calling it. St.
Poloil back to McDonald.
McDonald.
Thomas McCormick wants to shoot.
Won't.
Well, mid-range shot won't go.
Rebound.
Number four, Malin McNeely.
As St. John taking the ball to court.
Charges need to get something going here.
Only eight minutes left, down nine.
As Bowers looking to drive, swings it out,
tipped by McDonald.
McDonald almost stealing it, but McNeely gets,
regathers it.
McNeely swings to St. John.
St. John wants to shoot a deep three.
three won't go as there are people that fell but no foul as we got cormick

Oh, a stolen by McDonald.
Beautiful defensive play.
As Roman trying to get a shot up, Petrusick, Petrusick for three.
Won't go.
As this can be, oh, Remot of McCormick.
As they're going to call, what are they calling here?
Looking like a timeout.
Chargers.
They wanted a call there.
Looks like somebody hit somebody, but not going to get it.
Just going to get the time out.
You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
Still calling.
I'm still good.
We'll see you after the break.
Is the car all packed?
Yep.
Camping gear?
Check.
Smoors and hot dogs?
Check.
What about the old camping radio?
Well, we won't be needing that
because you can still get all of Radio Free Hillsdale's great shows and features
online at Radio Free Hillsdale.
under the student shows and features tab or wherever you get your podcast.
Anytime, anywhere.
All right then.
Let's hit the road.
Welcome back to Radio Free Hillsill 101.1.7 FM.
I'm Colin.
I'm Gabe.
Chargers down seven here.
Gabe, what do you think we need to keep doing?
I mean, we're doing something right.
What's it got to be?
They've been getting away from the press coverage.
In the full court press, as the Wolf's inbound the ball.
I think they stick with that
or as long as they can just maintain a presence down below the basket.
Yeah, I agree, I agree.
Yeah, seven minutes left, seven points to make back.
I mean, a math guy will say a point in a minute gets you a tie.
But a charger guy will say two possessions, two or three possessions,
gets you back in this game.
And I think this is a game that the Chargers can and will win.
Absolutely.
Knock out wood
As McDonnell has a ball
into the hoop
Fines
Splain in the corner
Splain for three
Will God
What a shot by Spley
cutting the lead to four points
Beautiful shot
The net didn't even move
The spark
That was needed for the charges
Maybe
As vocal has a ball
Top of the wing
Ella Miller
Gets to the Holmes
The paint guard by Popwell
Miller can put work in.
We're going to call foul on Popowell.
Tishu's just pushing with her elbow a bit too much.
We're going to see
Ma'Eaf St. John passed the ball in here.
St. John to Jackson. Jackson up with the left.
Won't go, but they're going to call a foul on Splane.
Splains.
first foul as the Timberwolves are going to elect to only have one rebounder.
As the Simpson, the Simpson fellas screamed while she shot a free throw.
She missed.
Might be working.
Might be working.
Love the Simpson guys.
Didn't scream on the second one, and she makes the second one.
The Timberwolves up five, six and a half minutes left to go.
As McDonnell finds Splane, Slein, Enlopass, a rule.
woman trying to find some work
finds peatrizik in the corner as they're going to call
reach in on st john
almost a beautiful pick
pick pocket there but couldn't get it
see they can find splain on an inbound
McDonald
finds petra zick in the corner
trying to swing the ball into bruce she does
bruce up with the right little floater won't go
rebound almost by st john but she just passed it away herself
Remains charges ball.
Charger ball still.
Five points.
That's all you need.
Just find Petra's like under the basket.
Under the, ooh, up and under way up by Petra's like no good,
but rebound by McDonald.
As Blaine,
Step Back 3, screen set by McDonald.
What they're going to call an illegal screen on McDonald.
Interesting.
as Maiv St. John has the ball.
Guarded by Petra's like they cut the press.
Wonder if that's just to preserve themselves or because they're within five points.
As Jackson, triple drop step, won't get the board as they're going to keep this with the timber wolves.
As long as the charges keep the ball out of Volker's hands, they've got a much better shot on defense.
I bet they talked about that at halftime because she has a lot.
got in the ball much this half.
She's had one shot.
Other than that, it's been well.
As St. John has the ball on the wing,
as they're going to call in a legal screen
on Volkler.
Unhappy with the call as the Chargers'
sideline erupts.
That is interesting there.
That could be huge for the Chargers.
Five-point game.
They can get this down to a one-possession game here
to any bucket.
As Roman has the ball.
in the paint down to Bruce Bruce up with the right we'll go
this is a three-point game now
Dawn Timmitts fighter arena
getting fiery here
by McDonald and there's a foul
on Taryn Jackson
wow momentum has completely
swung in the Chargers direction
amazing play by Lord McDonald
looking like an NFL quarterback out there
picking off passes
is that puts
McDonald at the line there.
A couple free throws and she's a good free throw shooter.
79% again.
As McDonald.
First shot.
And two point game, 74, 72, 530 left.
Excuse the voice.
Second one, good.
It's a one point game.
The charges down by as much as 13 at halftime.
Moabaker only down one point here with 522 left in the second half.
Still a lot of game left.
They're down as much as.
10 at the end of the third quarter.
We have St. John, guarded by Petrozek.
St. John, driving right, finds Jackson in the corner.
Jackson for three.
And it's good.
What a shot by Jackson.
Taryn Jackson.
5-7 freshman guard from Lowell, Michigan.
Four-point game, five minutes left.
McDonald finds Petruzac on the wing.
Look at Inlet to Wilman, but doesn't.
Splain top of the key.
Deep three won't go.
rebound by Holmes might have been a little bit of a fourth shot there I think so I think the
offense could have kept going could have kept going there could have forced it was deep and a little
covered there would have liked a different shot but soon the charters can do it here on defense of
st. John drives on petersink stops and steps back mid-range shot no good rebound room and
McDonald ball up the court the other way as petersick has involved the top of the key
looking at a coach for a play as McDonald gets an inlet pass mid-range shot no good
good that's a rare miss.
Look, we're going to go a foul on Northwood.
Putting Ellie Bruce at the line on number 22.
Leah Holmes, again from Cleveland, Ohio.
Brunswick High School.
I think the Chargers just need to keep their patience, I think.
Yeah.
Bruce will miss her first.
We'd like to make one of these.
What she can do here?
She can mouse back.
She can.
Three-point game.
You come back from so far and now you can taste it with three points down.
Keep your patience and keep doing what brought you here.
Yeah.
As we got St. John taking the ball up, swings to the Vokler.
Both are working on Splain for Bowers in the corner who passes it quickly back up to Vokler,
who gives it down to Holmes in the Payne.
As they're going to call a foul on McDonald trying to pick that ball away.
That's her third foul.
Not much foul trouble here for the Chargers,
but we'll call that a shooting foul.
Chargers down three, about four minutes left.
Holmes, missed their first one.
Simpsonites yelling during the shot.
Second one, Holmes.
That's good.
Four-point lead for the Chargers.
As Rulman has the ball atop of the key,
because it's back to McDonald.
putting in the work trying to get in there won't as brown shoots a three oh no good rebound popwell
tough board gives it a room and back out the spleen three and a half minutes left petersick for three
will go what a shot what a shot these peters that cutting the lead down to one yet again about three
minutes left as palms trying to put work in popua that's the mismatch they've been attacking
it won't go charges have a chance to get the lead for the first time
in a while. It's the first quarter I believe. Petrus is it for three again won't go. Rebont
McDonald. Petrusick swings over Rulman. Rulman to Splain, Splain down. Oh, the charges have the lead of
McDonald in the pass to Rulman. Rulman goes up with a lay. The chargers are up 79, 78, with
two 43 left. Completing a 13-point comeback, dating back to halftime. Incredible, incredible
Show by the Chargers here.
Wow, what a game.
We're going to do a timeout break here.
We'll see you after the break.
You'll listen to Radio Free Hills Zone 101.7 FM.
Charger basketball.
I'm Colin.
I'm game.
See you after the break.
He's instituted some pretty sweeping reforms in our school.
Like what, Connie?
Like taking the gum machine out of the cafeteria.
What will you hear?
A cup of coffee.
Thank you, thank you, or shmanky.

this stadium is
electric right now
fans are on their feet
Yeah. Costly foul. Costly, costly foul by St. John.
Bruce to the line again, a 44% shooter. Not always surefire.
As the first one is missed. If you're Ellie here, you'd love to cut the lead to two.
Prevent any threes for any lead changes.
The second one is no good as well, but rebound Petrusick. Out to Splain. Splain for three.
Won't go. As rebound Petrusick yet again.
out to McDonald's a room and
Rulman Rulman to Splain
Splane driving left
Swings out McDonald
Fresh shot clock

the paint. McDonald put some work. Fade away.
Oh my gosh.
What a shot.
Had Lexie Bowers stumbling.
Didn't touch Earth but wanted to.
As St. John, quick drive.
Missed the layup. Rebound Bruce.
Rebant. McDonald
Ashley. Charger,
two-point lead.
As Splean takes a ball at the court.
taking her time, getting every ounce of this clock she can, as McDonald.
Uh-oh, turnover McDonald.
We're going to call foul on Rulman.
That could have been a costly turnover there, Gabe.
Could have.
Her first foul.
That'll put St. John at the line.
St. John.
Shooting 81% from the line is.
we're going to go to a immediate timeout here or possibly review.
This will not be a full timeout.
They're just taking a review here, I suppose.
What are they could be talking about over there?
Coach Brennan probably drawn up a new play for him
and letting them know how to work this defensive possession right here.
I say this little break here is more important for the charges
than there's the Timberwolves.
They'll get their free throws in the Timberwolves,
but everything goes well charged the rebound.
They got to get a good play here.
It looks like Coach Brennan has a way more now and drawn off some.
St. John shooting her free throws.
A minute four left in the fourth quarter.
Makes her first one.
As Jeff Roscoe kind of contest the free throw down there in the student section.
Second shot good.
81-81 here.
And Don Tibbet's Potter Arena.
Splane taking the ball up.
Because McDonald's almost thrown away.
McDonald working.
Mid-range shot.
Won't go.
Rebound Vocler.
St. John has a ball.
45 seconds left in the game.
St. John, looking to get a shot up.
He's down to Holmes, going by Rulman.
Holmes goes up with the left.
We'll go.
Two-point lead for the Timberwolves.
38 seconds left.
McDonald's taking the ball up court.
He swings over to Splane to Bruce.
Bruce to Petrus.
Peaches and goes up with the left.
Won't go, rebound St. John.
They're going to need to foul here.
As they foul.
Ella Miller.
That'll put her at the line.
Miller, let's see what she's shooting here.
Miller,
being 80% from the line,
not exactly who you'd want to shoot.
But we'll see what she can do here.
Don tip of his potter is loud for Ella Miller.
And she makes it.
her first one. Chargers, better hope she misses the second one.
84-81. They need her two. Tim rules are up. As she makes her second one,
as they're going to call it, Chargers are going to call a timeout here. You're listening to Radio
Free Hills at 101.1.7 FM. I'm Colin. And I'm good. We'll see you after this short break.

really, really close game. Chargers down 85-81.
13.7 seconds to go in the game.
Port, the Chargers, get a quick bucket here and a quick foul.
And hope for some misses.
Just hope for some misses.
Brennan drawn up a play.
You got to think either playing at McDonald's without a thousand-point scores.
Looking like intense lesson here.
for the players.
Four points.
We need a quick bucket here.
Quick bucket.
Quick foul.
I mean, at this point, it's a little bit of luck.
You got a whole thing that pretty throws.
It's unfortunate that Miller was able to sink both of those three throws.
As we have, again, 14 seconds left.
Splain and mounting.
Gives him McDonald.
McDonald, driving right, gives the Bruce.
Bruce, swings out to Splain.
Blaine for three. Well go. Rebound. Back to Splain for three. Well go. Ah. As the Chargers fall 85 to 81 to Northwood Timberwolves. This game brings Hillsdale's conference record to 13 and 4 and Northwood's to 10 and 5. Chargers are 16 and 8 overall. Timberwolves will be 13 and 11.
and overall.
