Starting point is 00:00:01 The following is a special presentation of WRFH Sports. Crowd is roaring. It's a sold-out game here. Takes the three. Got that one to go. Two shots to layup, bounces off the left side of the rim, offensive rebound. Sidney Mills puts it back up and in. There's that size advantage, easy layups. Hillsdale Charger Basketball on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. now.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Radio for Hillsdale 101.7 FM. My name is Evan Mick. Today I'm here with my partner, Gabe Thamar, as we were jumping into a Hillsdale College Women's Basketball game. Hillsdale College Women's Basketball versus the O'DU Panthers, I believe. Panthers?
Starting point is 00:01:08 Yes, I believe so. Panthers are 9 and 12 overall and 4 and 9 in conference play. So kind of a weaker opponent for Hillsdale here, who is undefeated at home. Unfortunately, we did miss start of the action, so we are jumping right in. And the score is currently O'DU for Hillsill Zero with seven minutes left in this first quarter of play.
Starting point is 00:01:28 So hillsill down to an early deficit, but still really early in the game. I mean, only two possessions basically each team. Inbounding four-year chargers. Maddie Smith passes to Savannah Smith. Hands it back off to Maddie Smith over to Emma Rulman in the corner. Dumps it off to Savannah Smith in the low post. Back out to Annelitz pitches it. Back out to Emma Rulman, top of the key.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Drives our own. Put the shot up. It's good. Your Chargers crack the scoreboard. They trail 4 to 2, 7 minutes, 20 seconds left in the first quarter. Yeah, and that's where the charges are so dominant. It's getting that ball in the post. Teams don't have the height to match up with Savannah Smith or Ellie Bruce,
Starting point is 00:02:09 both of their two big men who are great players. 4 O'DU, guard Megan Mayotte. Misses a shot, rebounded by Rulman, and they take the ball back down for the Chargers. Rulman topped the key pass to Al Canecious. Down to Savannah Smith, the low post, but shot up is good. Savannah Smith coming off of a 25-point game, leading this Chargers team to a overtime victory
Starting point is 00:02:32 against Tiffin earlier this week. O'DU takes the ball back. Mary Chapman for the Panthers at the top of the key. Passes to number 20. Mackenzie Hurd, who dribbles. Passes, drives, puts a shot up, is good. Number 13, Megan Mayotte. with the shot.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Hillsland, usually a big offensive team, much better defensive team than they're showing so far here early. We're going to have to get that defense a little locked in here. Four-year chargers, Rulman, top the key,
Starting point is 00:03:07 past the Pechersick in the corner who drives down the baseline, is fouled, and they will inbound on their side of the court. Yeah, try to get the ball in the hands of Petrizick as much as possible.
Starting point is 00:03:19 She's their three-point shooter. Overall, a 3003.3.385. Three-point shooter makes about 40% of her free throws almost in 122 attempts. So it's not like she's not shooting. She's shooting all the time and she's just making them. Absolutely. Ellie Bruce catches the inbound pass for the Chargers. Passed to Petrusick, who drives, puts a shot up, does not go.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Rebounded by Ruland puts her own shot up is blocked. Ball goes out of bounds. It will remain charger basketball on their side of the court. Shout out. Got a great showing out of your Hillsdale College crowd here. Usually there's a couple more teams. People get ready for prize ball today. But shout out Colin McCurn in there.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Under the basket, working today's game. Cleaning up the floor. Out football quarterback. Ellie Bruce catches the inbound pass. And immediately puts it up for a May charger basket. It's all tied up at six here with six minutes left in the first quarter. O'DU takes the ball back. That's number 15.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Grace Cosgrove who passes to Chapman. Swings it out to Sarah Oaks. Who passes to Wheeler. Wheeler drives shot up. over the back of the backboard, it'll be Charger basketball. Yeah, I mean, great defense there by Ellie Bruce. She really didn't have anything to go. Not really sure why she shot it.
Starting point is 00:04:32 A lot of time left on the shot clock. Should have just reset it there, but it takes kind of an ill-advised shot, and it's not even close. This Chargers team, the second best defense in the G-MAC, and Marulman takes the ball back, swings it over into the paint for Ellie Bruce, who makes a basket. And your charges take the lead, 8 to 6. And a really easy basket there.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Great skiing by the Chargers. Wheeler takes the ball back for O'DU pass to Chapman. Back down to Wheeler, pass intercepted by Magdalena Solarski. Magdalena drives, draws a foul off of a ODIU defender. So early here we're seeing O'DU trying to get the ball in the paint, and they just can't seem to do it. That ball was tipped away by Ellie Bruce before Solarski was able to handle it. But that size advantage, always huge for the championship. Chargers. Absolutely. They are the cornerstones of this defense. Maddie Smith takes the ball back
Starting point is 00:05:31 four-year Chargers. Passed to Rulman in the wing. Dribbles by a defender. Pass to Petrusick. Top of the key. Pitchie Zibbles. Passes to Maddie Smith. Back to Petrusick. Who dribbles. Looked for a cut or a pick. Passes kickball. It'll be Charger. Pass was bad out of bounds with an O'DU player's foot. We're going to go to a short media timeout. You're listening to Radio for Yolesdale 101.7 FM. Ready? Where we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time.
Starting point is 00:06:15 I'm Lauren Smith, and I am literally so tired of hearing people abuse the word literally. Let's break down what this word literally means. It often means completely accurate. Bonjour translates literally to good day. Or it can just mean the. opposite of figuratively. Words can be used both literally and figuratively. What it does not mean is virtually. Exaggerated statements like, my day was literally the worst, are almost diametrically opposed to the literal meaning of literally. This is slang, but it is not the kind of slang we
Starting point is 00:06:52 want in our lexicons. It's just lazy. If you've got to play up how terrible your day was, try substituting an interesting evocative adjectives, such as my day was gasped. or I am woefully far behind. That's your grammar minute. Welcome back, everybody, the Hillsdale College Charger Basketball. I'm Gabe Theimar, joined by Evan Mick. Your charges currently lead
Starting point is 00:07:18 the Ohio Dominican Panthers, 8 to 6, with 445 left in the first quarter. Down on their side of the court, Magdalena Solarski passes into Annalise Petrusick, who passes it back to Solarski, back to Petrusick, down to Ellie Bruce to the low post.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Ball is tipped away and taken stolen. by an O'DU player as they drive the ball back down the court. That's Sarah Oaks number 30 at the logo for the Panthers. Yeah, I'm smart play there by O'DU. I think they're going to start doubling
Starting point is 00:07:46 that center in the paint because of that height advantage. Wheeler, Jathven Gila, puts a shot up for O'DU, missed, rebounded by Magdalene Silarski, who takes the ball back for your chargers. Fasted to Sarah Alucanacius, over to Ellie Bruce down in the low post, back out of the three-point line.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Ciddy Panasic takes the ball down the baseline. ball gets tipped away and recovered by Sarah Oaks before the Panthers. O'DU takes the ball back down to their court, passes, dribbles around the three-point line. We are 3.50 left in the first quarter. Your chargers lead eight to six. Sarah Oaks of O'DU passes to Cosgrove. Cosgrove. Dribbles ball off row knee, and it goes out of bounds.
Starting point is 00:08:34 It'll be charger basketball. Yeah, tip by a charger, but hits off Costco before it goes out of bounds. Panassick passes into Magdalena Solarski who takes the ball back. Slarsky passes to Al-Kanesha in the wing. Over to Panassik in the other wing. Three-point shot goes up and is good. Sydney, Panassi. Your charge's lead 11 to 6 with 322 left in the first quarter.
Starting point is 00:09:00 And she doesn't register a lot of shots, but when she's open, she makes those shots. Everyone in the stands are happy. You get T-shirts for three-point shots made here. T's for threes. O'DU takes the ball back for the Chargers. They put their own three-point shot up. Bounces off the rim, recovered by Panassik. Who puts a layup up, recovered by Panasic, rebounded.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Shot goes up, does not go. Rebounded by Wheeler of O'DU. 253 left in the first quarter. Your Chargers still lead 11 to 6. Wheeler takes the ball back for O'DU. Coast to coast puts a layup up, does not go. Rebounded by Bruce, past the Solarsky. Great switch defense there by the forward Sarah Alkanavichus
Starting point is 00:09:41 and the center, Ellie Bruce. Slarsky drives on our own, misses the layup, rebounded by Oaks of O'DU. Oaks takes the ball back for the Panthers. They drives on our own, puts a shot up, layup does not go, rebounded by number two, Jenna Shackleford, who then gets fouled by
Starting point is 00:09:57 They're calling it over-the-back foul against O'DU, so it'll be Hilsletarder basketball. Checking in for the charges is Amelia Silarsky, and Maddie Smith out is Ellie Bruce. Petrazek and Magdalena Solarski Savannah Smith also is checked in
Starting point is 00:10:19 yeah Amelia Solarski their other three-point shooter shot 77 three points on the season it's only about 15 minutes a game so just kind of on a three point per minute basis about the same as Petra's X so both shooters in the game right now or excuse me just Solarski's in this game so Savannah Smith with the Chargers puts a paint shot up and is good Chargers lead 13 to 6, two minutes left in the first quarter.
Starting point is 00:10:47 O'DU takes the ball back. That's number five. Ferron passes to her teammate, number four. Chapman dribbles for Odu. Passes. Shot goes up, three point, is good. Chargers still lead 13-9, 145 left in the first quarter. Amelia Solarski dribbles for the Chargers.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Passes to Panask in the corner, who swings the ball over to back to Amelia Solarski. Down to Savannah Smith and low post. And a pushing foul is called on number 20, McKenzie Hurd of the O'DU Panthers. Yeah, and they're going to have to be really, really aggressive here against these taller of Hillsdale College players. Savannah Smith, one of the most dominant players in the GMAC this year
Starting point is 00:11:34 at the five spot on this team. Yeah, her and Ellie Bruce rotated that spot. They both play about half the game, 18 minutes and 20 minutes, averages. and average 12 points and 8 points. So a combined 20 points usually you get between the two of them. Savannah Smith's first shot goes up and is good. She'll take her second free throw.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Shot goes up and is good. Your charges lead 6, 15 to 9, 1 minute, 30 seconds left in the first quarter. Yeah, it's really, really great when a center can be such a good free throw shooter. And she is about a 75% free throw shooter, which is one of the best on this team. O'D takes the ball back. That's number 13 down the baseline, swinging it back out to three point line,
Starting point is 00:12:13 drive, shot goes up, does not go rebounded by Savannah Smith. Passed to Maddie Smith over to Amelia Solarski. Passes to Ali Kinesh, who drives on her own. Swings back out of the three-point line, that's Salarski over to Panasic, top of the key. Savannah Smith in the low post, shot goes up and is good. 17 to 9, charger ball. 50 seconds left in the first quarter. And that was the second time that they found Smith over the shoulder passing.
Starting point is 00:12:41 O'Don you being a little bit too aggressive and not tall enough to be able to bat that away. O'DU takes the ball back. Panthers dribble on three point line pass it to the corner. Drive guarded by three charges swing it back out at the corner. Three point shot goes up is no good rebounded by Panassad. That may have been tipped by Maddie Smith there but great close out nonetheless. Maddie Smith with the ball now with the logo for the chargers 24 seconds left up 179 in the first quarter Maddie Smith dribbles guarded closely by Panther. She's looking to take the last shot here run down the clock so that O'DU only has two or three seconds left to score. Smith dribbles, passes off a pick to Solarski.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Over to Al-Kinesia, three-point shot goes up. Does not go. Rebounded by Panassik. Panasic puts her own shot up. Does not go. Rebounded by O'DU as the quarter comes to a close. Your charges lead 17 to 9 after one. Yeah, you're listening to Radio Free Hostel.
Starting point is 00:13:36 101 with 7 FM. We'll be right back. For a minute, where we're saving the English language, 60 seconds at a time. I'm Lauren Smith, and I have not made an episode about every single problem you might encounter when you're writing in English. It is an infinitely varied and infinitely bizarre language, and there's a lot more to be said about it. So if you can't find a grammar minute episode that answers your question, where should you go for information? Start by checking your preferred style guide. I did make an episode on which style guide is best for each type of writing, but popular choices include APA, Associated Press, and my favorite Chicago.
Starting point is 00:14:15 When choosing a dictionary, pick one that was made in the country you're writing in, so you don't get odd spellings. Avoid the sources as much as possible because they make you sound pretentious. And if your work allows, don't be afraid to ask chat GPT. This tool was created, not to write your papers, but to help you search the internet. That's your Grammar Minute. Visit thegrammerminit.com for more tips and tricks. Welcome back, everybody, to Radio Free Hillsdale, 1.1.7 FM. You'll listen to Charger Basketball. I'm Gabe Thiemar, joined by Evan Mick. Your Chargers currently lead the O'DU Panthers 17 to 9 after the first quarter.
Starting point is 00:14:54 We're set to kick off the second. Evan, what do you have thought so far? I mean, Hill's still really dominating the paint. That's kind of the story of every game that they lead in. Ellie Bruce and Savannah Smith combined for at least eight points here. And not only the eight points, but they've played some great defense. I don't think that they have any steals, but they have a couple tip passes which have allowed their teammates to get steals. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:15:14 This team leads the G-MAC blocks per game at 4.1. As they inbound the ball on offense, that's P.Jerzik, top of the key, passes to Maddie Smith over to Al Canetius. Emma Rulman in the paint, passes back out of three-point line. Pager's Nick puts a three up. Is no good. Rebounded by an O'DU Panther, number 23. Carly Nelson passes to a teammate at the Logel, who drives, passes back down to number 13. Megan Mayotte, who dribbles down the baseline, swings it out to the corner,
Starting point is 00:15:49 goes up for three is no good airball rebounded by panther who passed the ball right into ellie bruce's hands bruce passes to emma ruleman now o'd you switch to his zone defense here uh kind of a mix between a two three and a one three one trying to guard that post better ellie bruce's pass is batted away and uh stolen by a panther o d u dribbles down to their side of the court number five farron passes to chapman chapman with the ball at the top of the key drives off a pick puts a shot up is no good rebounded by room it's really really easy to guard a pick and roll when there is no role very true al-canetius catches the low post ball puts a shot up is good your charge will be 19 to 9 with 8 minutes and 40 seconds left in the second quarter oh to you
Starting point is 00:16:37 with ball down their side of the court that's fair on passes to uh schemly schwemley Shwemley, pass it down to the low post, intercepted by Alacanetius. Alacanetian takes the ball back for the chargers. Passed to Rulman in the wing. Over to Alkenetius' top of the key, over to Pitcherzik. Em Rulman at the top of the key now. Passes to the corner, that's number five. Aalcanetia shot goes up is good.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Alacanacinace's with a deep three four-year chargers. They leave 22 to 9 after, with eight minutes left in the second quarter. and we're going to get a time out here. So we're going to go to a quick 30-second break. We'll listen to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. We'll be right back. What's you doing over there? Me? I'm listening to Radio Free Hillsdale.
Starting point is 00:17:34 You're what? Don't you know? All the cool kids listen to Radio Free Hillsdale. Oh. You're listening to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. And that makes you a cool kid. Welcome back, everybody, to Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. I'm Gabe Thiemar.
Starting point is 00:18:00 I'm Evan Mick. Your charges currently lead the O'DU Panthers, 22 to 9, with eight minutes left to go in the second quarter. Evan, what are you seeing? Yeah, really dominant performance here by Hillsdale. O'DU, try to change their strategy up to his own defense here, but the chargers are too good of a three-point team to do that. They're trying to help more in the post,
Starting point is 00:18:19 but chargers are a good shooting team. They know exactly what they're good at. You either get the ball into the post, and when you get the ball in the post, if that's not working, you kick it out and you shoot some threes. Even though ODA is a weak or opponent, for this Chargers team. This game means a lot. A win here puts them an 8 and 6 in conference play and ties them for the fifth best record in the GMAC with Ashland and Walsh University.
Starting point is 00:18:40 They also are undefeated at home, 8 and 0 at home all year, 5 and 0 in conference play at home. O'DU takes the ball back to their side of the court. That's number two, Chackleford, passes to Chapman. Chapman dribbles off her own. Hatch put shot up is fouled. And she'll go to the free throw line. not a lot of fouls. I think that's the first foul by the chargers in these first two quarters. Chapman, a 74% free throw shooter prepares to take her two. First one goes up.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Is good. That's a 10th point now as the Panthers finally reached double digits with 752 left in the second quarter. Second shot goes up. It's good. Your charges now lead 22 to 11, 7.52 in the second quarter. that takes a ball back for the Chargers. Smith, dribbles, passes to Magdalena Solarski. Solarsky dribbles. Picks it up. Passed to Petrazyk, top of the key, passes back to Slarsky in the corner,
Starting point is 00:19:45 dumps it off to Emmer Rumman, the low post ball, gets batted out of bounds. It will remain charger ball. Yeah, I'd love to see some more ball movement here on the outside. Ben really forcing into that post, and O'DU is starting to double team it again. Petrusick catches the inbound pass for the charges and drives off,
Starting point is 00:20:08 off her catch, past Maddie Smith, top of the key, over to Magdalena Slarski, who makes a Panther miss, pass out to Rulman for three. It's good! As the shot clock expires, able to find a great look and knock down the three-point shot. Your charges league, 25-11, seven minutes left in the second quarter. Odieu takes the ball back to their side of the court. That's Sarah Oakes passing to Shackleford. Shackleford back to Oaks off a pick.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Pass to Chapman in the corner. Chapman drives down the baseline is fouled. Kind of a softer foul there, but, you know, not going to complain when they haven't really been calling fouls all game. And ODU's not really forcing them to. That's like one of their very few attempts to drive the ball on them there, man. Savannah Smith checks in for the charges. Ellie Bruce heads to the bench. Sarah Oaks takes the ball inbounds for the Panthers and puts a shot up is good.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Your charge is only 25-13, 648 left in the second quarter. Magdalena Solarski passes to her sister passes to Annalise Peachesick who drives and puts her own shot up gets her own rebound puts a second shot up is good Peachesick wanted to follow there but didn't get one able to get her own rebound anyways and knock down the shot
Starting point is 00:21:24 Chargers lead 2713 with 630 left in the second quarter Shackleford passes to number 15 Cosgrove passes over to number 30 Sarah Oaks for O'DU who drives put the shot up is no good rebounded by ruleman ruleman originally pressed by an ODU defender passes to Maddie Smith
Starting point is 00:21:48 Smith takes the ball dumps it off to Annalise Petrusick passes to Magdalena Solarski over back to Maddie Smith in the wing back to Petrizzac in the corner now to Emma Rulman and Magdalene Solarsie who puts three point shot up is no good rebounded by
Starting point is 00:22:05 Chapman and then now Sarah Oakes for ODAU Shackleford now with the ball for O'DU drives down the low post guarded by Savannah Smith puts a shot up is no good rebounded by Rulman I'm still not really sure who O'DU's post player is you know you've seen all these all these times where different players are sitting in the post
Starting point is 00:22:23 Maddie Smith puts a two-point shot up rebounded by Sarah Oakes for O'DU Oaks passes to Chapman who puts her own three-point shot up is good Chargers lead 27 to 16 against the Panthers 520 left in the second quarter Yeah a deep three I mean she was wide open But that's just because of how deep she was
Starting point is 00:22:43 Almost like a logo type shot Those domain need to step up down And they know that she can do that Pitch's gonna put the ball for the charge of the low post Put the shot up is good Over two panther defenders They lead 29, 16 five minutes left in the second quarter Shackleford now for Odieu
Starting point is 00:23:00 puts two point shot up Airballs over the rim But Sarah Oaks gets the rebound and is fouled as she puts her own shot up what looked what i thought looked like to be a clean block by emma ruleman the refs say is a foul and it sends oaks to the line yeah it's really hard refs are really really sensitive inside that little arc you know the arc that you can't take charge inside of
Starting point is 00:23:27 and fouls are just much more common in there unfortunate i also thought it looked pretty clean but obviously the ref saw something we didn't Oaks 30 for 31 on the free throw attempts this year. Her first shot does not go. Only her second miss all year. I'm pretty sure Gabe did that. From the line.
Starting point is 00:23:46 She gets ready to take her second shot. A little announcer jinks right there. Second shot goes, but we played our part. We did indeed. Your Chargers lead 29 to 17 with 4.50 left in the second quarter. If Chargers win by one point today, we know why. That was all us. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Petrizik for the charges at the three-point line, passed to Panassik at the top of the key. Panasic over to Magdalene Slarski in the left wing. Back to Al-Kanesha's now at the top of the key. Panasic passes down to Savannah Smith, down the low post. Ball gets batted out of her hands. We're recovered by number 15 Cosgrove for O'DU. Pass pulled a little force for the chargers.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Didn't really need to find it underneath. It wasn't really there. Cosgrove puts her own shot up from three. Doesn't go. Rebounded by Petruzik. And Magdalene Solarski takes a pass down for the Chargers. Fast is the Panasik who tries to pass, but is intercepted by Mackenzie Hurd for O'DU, who passes number five.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Shot goes up is no good. Rebounded by our number five, Sarah Alikinesias. Hillsdale really needs to slow the game down here. They are one of the best half-court team, if not the best half-court team in the GMAC. It's when keepers get on these runs and they try to play fast-paced. That's not Hillsdale College Basketball. And it's how they got exposed to almost. against Tiffin last night, giving up most of their points of transition.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Number, Maddie Smith puts a shot up for the chargers, does not go. Rebounded by O'DU. O'DU takes the ball back, and their shot doesn't go, rebounded by Petrusick. Petrizeek passes to Magdalena Solarski. He passes back to Petrizzik, puts three-point shot up. Is no good. Rebounded by number four, Chapman of O'DU. Chapman takes the ball back for the Panthers.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Peachesick, one of the best three-point shooters in the GMAC. said before, kind of cold today. Schwemley takes a pass in the corner for O'DU and drives down the baseline, puts a shot up, and is fouled. And now she will go to the line. Your charges lead 29 to 17 with three minutes left in the second quarter. Emilius Slarsky checks in, in addition to Ellie Bruce for Savannah Smith and Sarah Al-Keneasius.
Starting point is 00:26:08 First free throw shot goes up for Eve Schwemley. and is good. Yeah, so finally he'll still have both of their shooters in at the same time with Amelia Solarski and Ali's features Xil. Might see a little three-point run here by the Chargers. Amelia's sister, Magdalena Solarski, takes the ball back for the Chargers. Passes to Panassik at the wing. Who passed down to Ellie Bruce, the low post.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Shot goes up is no good. Rebounded by Amelia Solarski, who takes the ball back to the three-point line, back out to Panasic. Passes just out of her. reach and it goes out of bounds. It will be Panther ball. I mean it was a great look and a great attempts, just either one step too slow or one step, the pass was one step
Starting point is 00:26:53 ahead of her. But she would have had that wide up and lay up if it was there. Cosgrove takes the ball back for the Panthers, passes to Chapman. Chapman dribbles, drives, puts shot up against three chargers, does not go, rebounded by Ellie Bruce. I mean,
Starting point is 00:27:09 she was surrounded in the sea of white. I mean, absolutely. There was no hope for her there. Magdalena Slarksky's pass to Amelia Solarsky is batted out of bounds by O'DU and the charges will maintain possession. They lead 29 to 19 with 224 left in the second quarter. Magdalena Solarsky catches the inbound pass, passes to Panasic at the top of the key. Over to Magdalena Slarsky again in the wing who drives, spins, sends it to her sister three-point line. Shot goes up is no good.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Rebounded by O'DU. So I think she shot that shot because she thought she was going to do. draw a foul as the O'DU player landed on her afterwards, but didn't get one. Number five, Farron for O'DU with the ball at the logo on their side of the court, guarded by Amelia Solarsky. Farron dribbles, passes to number 15 Costco and is turned over by Annalise Pechersick, who passes to Panassik, who dribbles, dumps it off to Bruce, who is fouled on a layup attempt. Now that was some great ball movement right there.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Not easy passes, but able to get them all done and get the ball right under the basket to Ellie Brutes. Ellie Bruce will now take free throws. Ellie Bruce's first shot goes up and is good. Your charges now lead 30 to 19. One minute and 40 seconds left in the first half. Yeah, so Hillsdale had a good first half so far. And you know, you want to continue that going to the second half. but there are definitely some things that are sloppy, some things to clean up.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Haven't shot super well as they get an offensive rebound on the missed free throw. Dasick shoots a three does not go rebounded by Amelia Slarsky, who passed to Petrusik. In the wing, she passes back to Magdalena Slarsky, back to Petrusik. Three-point shot goes up. Is no good. Rebounded by number five, Madeline Farron for O'DU. Ferron takes the ball back for the Panthers. dribbles down to the corner.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Passes down to the line. low post that's number 13 Mayotte who shot is no good and in a scrum we've got a jump ball it will remain Panther basketball on their side of the court I think that was a good call by the ref you know they were about to be a cold people
Starting point is 00:29:42 jumping on the pile and you don't want anybody to get hurt Petersick checks out and Alucanisha checks in four year chargers as they prepare to defend the Panthers on their side of the court they lead Chargers lead 30-19, minute left in the first half. Sarah Oakes takes the ball.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Passes to Cosgrove and the Shackleford. Then back to Oaks in the corner for the Panthers. Oaks dribbles, drives guarded by Magdalena Slarski. Puts a shot up is good. Chargers lead 30 to 21, 45 seconds left in the first half. Magdalena Silarsky takes the ball back. Passed to Panassik. Padasik dumps it off to Al-Kanesian the low post.
Starting point is 00:30:21 Ball is batted. But recovered by Emilius Slarski puts a layup up. It's good. Chargers lead 32, 21, 30 seconds left in the first half. Great floor thereby the Chargers is O'DU may be looking to take the last shot here with only two seconds separating the game clock and the shot clock. Shackleford has the ball at the top of the key for the Panthers. She passes down to Chapman.
Starting point is 00:30:41 Chapman dribble guarded by Alconnesius, swings it out to the corner. O'Diville dribles puts a three-point shot up is good. I also got to hurry up here. Seven seconds left on the game clock. Five, four, Magdalena Slarsky. three point shot goes up is no good great shot there though at the end of the half by slursky your chargers lead 32 to 24 after one half action here in don tippets potter arena and we're going to go to half times we're going to take a little bit of longer break 12 15 minute
Starting point is 00:31:15 break here for us uh but we'll be right back you'll listen to radio free hillsdale 101.7 fm back everybody the charger basketball here at radio free hillsdale 101.7 fm i'm gabe Thiemar. I'm Evan Mick. Your charge is currently lead the O'DU Panthers 32 to 24 in this Saturday afternoon women's matchup. Second half will kickoff in just about 60 seconds. Evan, how can Hillsdale hold on for this victory? You know what the amazing thing is is I'm a big Michigan State fan and there are games where they just can't shoot and there are halfs like individual halfs where they just can't shoot. you want to know how I know when Michigan State is going to win when they shoot horribly in the first half
Starting point is 00:32:02 and they still have a lead Hill still here has not shot super well in the first half they have some great shooters and they have had open looks and they just have not hit them and they still have an eight-point lead here so as soon as some of those shots start falling down you know this lead's going to just expand so I say keep playing your game
Starting point is 00:32:20 the shots will fall. He played pretty good defense could do a little better but I mean overall a good game so far by it. Hillsdale. The Chargers have one of the best defenses in the country, much alone in the conference, second in the G-MAC and opponents' points per game, holding opponents to just 64 points per game. O'D only has 24 this afternoon, and Hillsdale's looking to... Hold them under 50. I think that would be the goal. Let them score just as many in the first half as we did in the second half. You hold a team under 50 points in basketball in women's
Starting point is 00:32:56 basketball? I mean, that's a great day. It doesn't matter what team it is, that's a great day. Unless you're playing the school of death and blind, then maybe you should have done better. But other than them, that's a pretty great day. One of the leaders on this defense currently on the court, Savannah Smith has been
Starting point is 00:33:12 her and Ellie Bruce have combined for just being an unstoppable force down, the low post, and the paint. As the second half kicks off, Maddie Smith takes the ball for the chargers. Maddie Smith sends it to Savannah Smith at the top of the key. guarded closely by a panther.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Passed to Peaches. Peachesick at the wing. Swings over to the other wing. That's Maddie Smith. Down to the corner, Alacanesius. Alacanesia dribbles. Passes back out at the top of the key. Emma Rulman, three-point shot goes up. It's good. The senior captain, Emma Rulman,
Starting point is 00:33:44 your charges lead 35-24. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised here if I saw ODAU press. The Chargers did struggle a little bit earlier this year against the press, and maybe that's O'DU's one chance to get back in this game. O'DU takes the ball. That's Shackleford, guarded by Savannah Smith, puts a shot up, is good. Cutting the charges lead to 9.35, 26, 9 minutes left in the third quarter. And you know what, that's going to happen. She made a good move, made a good shot.
Starting point is 00:34:10 It was good defense. It's not, you know, not a lot Savannah Smith could have done there. Alan Cinesh has the ball for the charges, pass it to roll with the top. The key dumps it down to Savannah Smith, who passes to Alacanisius, who cut away from the pass. A little miscommunication and impatient. on the Chargers part O'DU takes the ball back. Yeah, if either one of them had been on the same page,
Starting point is 00:34:32 both of those options were right. The cut was there and the three-point shot. Both probably would have been there. Farron passes to Chapman for the Panthers. O'DU passes Shackleford, back to the top of the key. That's Cosgrove. Shot goes up. Airballs and goes out of bounds.
Starting point is 00:34:46 Charger basketball. Emma Rulman makes the inbound pass to Maddie Smith. Smith takes the ball across half court, guarded closely by a panther passed to alkenetius back to emma ruleman three-point shot goes up same shot as before does not go this time rebounded by chapman for the panthers passes to number 13 mayotte back to shockifer top of the key down to costgrove in the low post guarded by ruleman and spana smith passes out to the corner who drives shot goes up gets her own rebound panther's second shot goes up And she is fouled.
Starting point is 00:35:29 That's number 13 for the Panthers. Megan Mayotte. I mean, you got to avoid those as much as possible. Every coach in America is going to tell you, hey, we can't give up this many offensive rebounds because that's just giving them extra possessions. Absolutely. Mayotte now, set to take two free throws for the Panthers.
Starting point is 00:35:47 Yeah, cut this lead down to seven if she makes both. Mayotte, first shot goes up, misses. She's an 87.5%. and free throw shooter so far this season. She prepares to take her second. Ball goes up. It's good. Your chargers now lead 35 to 27.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Eight minutes left in the third quarter. It feels like these baskets are just moves just an inch to knock off all these great shooters. Beaches it now with the ball for the charges. Passed to Rulman at the top the key. Rulman hucks it to the corner. That's Alicanesius. Over to the next wing.
Starting point is 00:36:22 Back cross-court passes. Alla Kinesias now is the ball swings back out to a three-point line. Maddie Smith. It's good. Maddie Smith, the big-time three-point shot for this Chargers team. 38-27 Charger ball. That was a great job by ball movement all around for the Charger team. O'DU puts their own layup up, rebounded by Rulman,
Starting point is 00:36:41 who drivers the ball back for this Chargers team. Passes to Maddie Smith. Over to Allen Kinesh, down to Savannah Smith, and low post backs down. Shackleford. Shot goes up. Rebouted by Rulman, who puts it in. And this great play there by Rulman to crash the paint.
Starting point is 00:36:58 saw that her man was going over to help Savannah Smith, guard Savannah Smith, and able to find a wide-up and layup there. Number 13, Mayotte, takes the ball for the Panthers, drives, shot goes up, is fouled. And now she will go to the three-point line for the second time in about 60 seconds. Your Chargers lead 40 to 27.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Oh, do you attack in the basket a little more this half? Smart, trying to draw some fouls and, you know, put up some more layups. Try to get those big men in foul trouble. Yeah, force Hillsdale to have to clog the paint and then try and see you can get from there. Mayotte's first free throw is good. Dribbles, second shot goes up is good. Your chargers now lead 40 to 29.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Seven minutes left in the third quarter. I love the dribbles part. That was funny. As she's worn out for the free throw, she dribbles. She tosses it around to herself. Now she shoots her. Free time is good. Al-Kanesha now with the ball for the charges.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Passed to Rulman in the corner. Passed to Petra Dixie. The top of the key who drives. Passed back out to Alikanesius. Finds Emma Rulman in the paint who spins. Put the layup up. It's good. Emma Rulman, three for three from the field today in this second half.
Starting point is 00:38:22 And four points off of it. Five points, actually. O'D takes the ball back. That's number 23, Schwemley. passing to number four Chapman whose three point shot is good your chargers lead 42 32 32 six minutes left in the third quarter Maddie Smith passed to Alikineshius
Starting point is 00:38:44 Patriot top of the three shot is no good rebounded by number four Hayle Mary Chapman who passes to number two Shacklefer top of the key for O'DU Chalkifer drives past the corner drives down the baseline Guarded by Emma Rulman. Chapman drives put a shot up.
Starting point is 00:39:07 It is no good. Rebounded by Aliccanich's. Alconnesia takes the ball back for the charges. Emma Rulman, then a three-point shot? Does not go. Rebounded by number 23, Schemley, for O'DU. Now, Hilslow, got to tighten up this defense a little bit. Give an O'DU just a little bit too much room when they're inside that pain.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Ferron. Faron's pass is batted out of bounds. by the Chargers and it will remain Panther basketball. Checking in for the Chargers is Ellie Bruce and Magdalena Solarski and Sidney Panassick. Man, I mean, how nice is it for a team to be able to just have two centers that you can switch back and forth and you don't feel like you're losing a step?
Starting point is 00:40:01 Not at all. They're equally dominant for this Chargers team. A little bit different. Bruce is a little bit taller, gets some more blocks. It's Van Gogh Smith's movie just a little bit of better for a shooter. I mean, the two of them are great players and very dominant for this charger team. O'DU sets make the inbound pass on their side of the court. Sarah Oaks takes the inbound pass for the Panthers. Oaks dribbles, passes, and shot clock expires. Panthers don't even get a shot at Tempt off, and it is Charger basketball. Yeah, the girls on the bench were all counting down,
Starting point is 00:40:34 and the girls on the court looked so confused what they were counting down for. Maddie Smith takes the inbound for the Chargers. dribbles across half cart guarded by Oaks. Passed to Panassik. At the top of the key, over to Alikinesius in the wing. Back to Magdalena Solarski, top of the key. Who dribbles, drives. Shot goes up, two-point fade away.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Is no good. Rebounded. Over the back foul called on Alikinesh, actually, who was going for the rebound. Yeah, probably a good call there by the referee. Just a little bit too aggressive and a great job by O'DU. Instead of grabbing the rebound, actually boxing out. O.D.U. Set to...
Starting point is 00:41:16 Oh, we will go to a timeout now. We'll be right back with you. You're listening to Charger Basketball here at Radio for Hillsdale. 101.1.1.7 FM. We'll see you in 60 seconds. On check. Creating images while using the web will be getting easier, thanks to Google. The Internet giant announces it will now integrate artificially intelligent image generation as part of the side panel in its Chrome web browser.
Starting point is 00:41:44 The service will integrate Google. Google's generative AI model called Nanobanana, which they promise delivers realistic visuals by sophisticated understanding of users' text prompts and can even generate information graphics based on data retrieved from web searches. Pro-level users will also be able to use AI in Chrome to auto-brows, meaning it can log into website, shop and purchase, and even prepare social media posts. AI integration into browsers is growing into the norm. Chargers now lead 48 to 37, two and a half minutes left in the third quarter. Sarah Oaks now with Panthers basketball.
Starting point is 00:45:34 Passes to Wheeler, back to Oaks, who drives off of a screen. Passes to Oaks keeps the ball, shoots, does not score. Three-point shot is missed, rebounded by the Panthers. Panthers Guard drives, shot goes up and makes an and one layup. And right here, this is the part
Starting point is 00:45:52 that Hills has to make a decision. You cannot let O.D.U. Keep the momentum. That felt like a momentum changing basket. You have to go down here. This is where you call your best play and make sure that this game doesn't come back and get realistic again. She makes this basket. It's a game.
Starting point is 00:46:09 But as soon as you make a basket, you get the momentum back on your side again. Absolutely. Number 15 for O'DU. That's Gracie Cosgrove. And one shot is no good. Rebounded by the Chargers. Magdalene's Larson. takes the ball back. Slarsky dribbles guarded by Oaks, passes to Rulman.

Starting point is 00:47:42 Who dribbles, passes back out to Silarsky. Passes back to Rulman. Three-point shot is good. Emma Rulman. And she has been dominant today. That is 15 points for her. The senior captain. and one of the main leaders on this team.
Starting point is 00:47:59 Your chargers lead 52 to 39, 60 seconds left in the third quarter. Yeah, 3 for 5 for 3-point land for her today. Starting point is 00:49:25 Fox on Games, your insider's cheat code to gaming. This is the one we've been waiting for. Seahawks. Patriots. EA Sports Madden NFL has their prediction for this year's Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, a rematch from over a decade ago. The last Sim accurately guessed that the Pats would pull it out 28 to 24.
Starting point is 00:49:48 This year, with Sam Darnold behind the center, Madden says that it's the Seahawks that will squeak by 23 to 20. And this is going to be a touchdown. The Seattle Seahawks missed. We did our own prediction. The Fox on Games won came out with New England on the top. Another tight game, though, 14 to 7. And in our game, we chose Pat's QB, Drake May, as the MVP.
Starting point is 00:50:14 Over the last 20 years, Madden has correctly guessed who would have won the big game 13 times, giving them a 65% win rate. Amen Dignam. Fox News. Back everybody to charge your basketball to do at Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM. I'm Gabe Thymar. Joined by Evan Mick. And your charges currently lead the O'DU Panthers 52 to 39.
Starting point is 00:50:42 going into the fourth quarter. Evan, what do you see in? Well, the Charters, once again, not the greatest single shooting quarter and not their greatest defensive quarter. Let up 15 points there compared to 12 and 12 in the first and second quarter in the first half.
Starting point is 00:50:58 24 total in that first half. Let up 15 points. Got a lockdown a little bit on defense. Offense playing pretty good. Once again, shots not falling. But, you know, there's only so much you can do about that. You're getting good looks. I'm not mad at you offensively for missing shots
Starting point is 00:51:09 if you're getting good looks. You're getting the ball in the right hands. you know what the offense that'll get better there's only so much you can do about that the defense though got to play a little bit tighter oh do you has the ball on their side of the court fouled on a shot oh oh a carry is called actually and it'll be charger basketball this game is when a track meet four year chargers we've gotten through three quarters of basketball and basketball in just over 60 minutes of real time not a lot of fouls here in for a really really quick game you can understand why the defense started to slip as of late. A lot of substitutions being made. Ellie Bruce now is the ball at the top of the key for the
Starting point is 00:51:46 Chargers pass to Magdalena Slarski. Who holds it? Dribbles passes to Panassik in the corner. Down to Alkenetius in the low post, swings it back out to Panassic, dribbles down the baseline, and is fouled. Your Chargers lead 52 to 39, nine minutes and 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter. And O'D has put on a light press here. Probably going to continue that for the rest of the game and only get more aggressive as time. goes on. They've got nine minutes to make a 14 point comeback. Magdalena Slarski takes the inbound pass for the Chargers pass to Panasic top of the key. And a turnover by the Chargers. Turn over by the Chargers. O'DU will take the ball back. They down 13. Passes over to the corner. That's Chapman back to number 20. McKenzie Heard for O'D pass it over to Chapman, who drives, picks her dribble up, passes over
Starting point is 00:52:46 to a teammate intercepted by Magdalena Slarsky, but it is called out of bounds. I think they're going to call a foul while she was passing. I'm not really sure exactly where the foul was, but foul's going to go against the Chargers, so it will remain O'DU basketball. They heard a save they weren't calling enough fouls, and they got a little jumpy. Yeah, I guess we put in a request or something.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Cosgrove has the ball for the Panthers. Shot goes up, and she is... There's a charge. So it will be Charger basketball again down on the Panther side of the court. Panasic passes in to Maddie Smith, who passes back to Panasic. As she drives down the court, ball comes out of her hands and is turned over and got by a panther. Odieu has a ball in the corner, down the low post, dribbles, stolen from by Sidney Panassic. Yeah, loses that ball and then gets it right back on the next position.
Starting point is 00:53:51 Alicanesha at the wing passes to Magdalena Solarski. Passes to Maddie Smith down at the other wing. Now to Alicinacius at the top of the key. Back to Madi Smith, over to Sidney Panassik in the wing. Panassik passes back. A lot of ball moving around three-point line. Shot goes up. It's good.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Magdalena Solarski. With a big three-point shot, your charge's lead, 55 to 39, with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. Chapman with the ball for the Panthers. She dribbles, passes into the corner, back to the top of the key, down to the low post. And we've got another foul. We really did put into a request. So after just about five fouls throughout three quarters, we've got three in the first two minutes and 20 seconds at the fourth quarter.
Starting point is 00:54:47 Yeah, going for a score update for your chargers. Currently 55 to 39 and leading the team in points. Emma Rulman with 15 and then Savannah Smith with 10 and Ellie Ruth with 7. O'DU with the ball on their side of the court dribbling around the three-part line. Shackleford passes two Oaks in the wing down to the corner. And we have a whistle. They're calling a foul on your chargers. It will remain Panther basketball.
Starting point is 00:55:22 The signals are very, very light. They're hard to read up here exactly what they're calling. Not a lot of hand motion. We need some bigger hand motions from these rest when they're calling some. We'll call them these fouls. Absolutely. We're having to rely on the live broadcaster. Play-by-play announced for some of these calls.
Starting point is 00:55:40 Magdalena Slarski takes the ball back for the charges. Pass to Petrusik, who puts a layup up. rebounded by the Panthers. Oaks takes the ball back. Oaks passes to Chapman. Chapman goes up. Three-point shot is no good. rebounded by Smith.

Have a fortune point lead. Dejus Zichaelic passes to Alecanesius. Alkenetian's passed to Spanus Smith down the low post. She drivels, spins, shot goes up.
Starting point is 00:56:14 Oh, just rims out after bouncing on the rim for about 30 seconds. Panthers rebound and take the ball back to their side. That's Shackleford. Two-point shot goes up and is good. Coast to coast for Shackleford as Hillsdale is going to call a timeout. It's there first in the entire game. So we'll be back in 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:56:32 He'll listen to radio for Hillsdale. 1.1.7 FM. If you were to reach 250 years, you might say, I'm so old. But if I were to tell you, this country is 250 years old, you might respond. I'm just a kid. Happy 250 years is a nation America. Welcome back to charge your basketball who at Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
Starting point is 00:57:14 I'm Gabe Femar. I'm Evan Mick. Your charge is currently the ODU Panthers. 55 to 43, 6 minutes and 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Your charge is defending an undefeated, perfect 8-0 record at home, and a chance to tie for fifth place in the G-MAC. Yeah, you want to end up in fourth place because then you get to host at least one home game in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:57:40 No matter what, you're probably going to end up on the road for the second and third game, as long as the higher seats don't lose. But, you know, we've seen crazier. Last year, the men's team was the fourth year. in the, or it might have been two years ago, was the four seeded going into the tournament. And because the one, two, and three seed all lost, the men's team hosted the entire tournament. Your chargers currently have in possession of the ball. Annalise Pitch was it passes full-on press from O'DU forces a turnover.
Starting point is 00:58:09 I don't know how that one was in the foul. She definitely pushed her both hands. Oaks with the ball for the Panthers down to the corner. She passes to the. Number 13, Mayotte, passes down to the low post. Shock referred. Who dribbles, shot goes up. Is no good.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Guarded by Rulman, rebounded by the Chargers. Rulman takes the ball back and passes to Magdalena Silarski. Who passes to Petrusik. Back to Silarsky, over to Amelia Slarski, her twin sister. Ball batted away by Panther, but charges retake possession. Roman with ball at the top of the key, passes to Magdalena Silarski. Passed down to Savannah Smith. Spins, shot goes up is good.
Starting point is 00:58:56 Savannah Smith continuing her paint dominance so far in this game. Chargers lead 57-43, 530 left in the fourth quarter. Yeah, 20 points for the chargers in the paint by just those two big men. O'DU with the ball now. Shacklefer down, low post, shot goes up, is no good.
Starting point is 00:59:12 Rebounded by Petruzick. And Elise Petrusick takes the ball back for the Chargers and is fouled. That'll be the third foul. Third foul for the Panthers by Megan Mayotte. And her third foul, so she's going to check out of the game right here. Some foul trouble.
Starting point is 00:59:37 As your Chargers prepare to make the inbound pass, Maddie Smith takes it for the Chargers, around the logo. Tribbles, pass. Savannah Smith's shot goes up for three. It's good. Your Chargers lead 60 to 43, and how about that Savannah Smith with her second-made three-point shot?
Starting point is 00:59:57 Of the entire season. season. Two for five now. Not a big three-point shoot, but when she's just wide, wide open. She's going to take that shot as ODU's going to call a time out. So we're going to go to a 30-second break. You'll listen to Radio Fieldsdale 101.1.7 FM. Integrity,

Starting point is 01:00:53 here at Radio for Hillsdale 101.1.7 FM. I'm Gabe Thiemar. And I'm Evan Mick. Your Chargers just... Savannah Smith, four-year chargers just drained a big-time three-point shot. Extending this lead to 17. Only five minutes left.
Starting point is 01:01:08 You're not counting the possessions yet for the Chargers. You got to wait until that's about three minutes left. You know that you can only have six or so possessions if you keep holding the ball. You keep tacking the basket a little bit, but you're careful. You're definitely not as aggressive as you possibly can be. Got to play just stout defense here, and you'll keep ODA you pretty easily under the 60 points. Al-Qadish intercepts the inbound pass for the Panthers. and chargers steal another possession.
Starting point is 01:01:42 Maddie Smith dribbles at the top. The logo passes to Amelia Solarski. Passes to Emma Rulman. Back to Maddie Smith, down to the corner. Melius Slarsky, three-boy shot goes up. Is no good rebounded by the Panthers. Shacklebert takes the ball back for O'DU, dribbles, coast to coast. Shot goes up.
Starting point is 01:02:01 And is fouled. Fowl is called on her shot, and she will go to the free throw line. Yeah, they call it a block on Ellis. Ellie Bruce, they called a foul on Ellie Bruce. They're saying that she got her with her body, but after she got her with her body, she was able to get up there in the blockage. The crowd not happy with that foul call.
Starting point is 01:02:19 Shackleford, a 77% free-throw shooter. First shot is no good. Your charges lead 60 to 43, 425 left in the fourth quarter. As Shackleford prepares to take her second shot. Goes up. No good. Rebounded by Alacheneas. your charges will take the ball back.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Emma Rulman at the wing. O'DU is going to be way more aggressive about their press here with only four minutes locked down to 17 points. Charger pass goes out of bounds and it will be Panther basketball. Now, Rulman had a great game so far. 15 points. Unfortunately, that one just slips through her hands. Oaks for ODU takes the inbound pass. Guarded by number 15, Maddie Smith.
Starting point is 01:03:06 Passes to number 20. That's McKenzie Heard, who passes. And three-point shot goes up is no good. Rebounded by the Chargers. Maddie Smith passed to Emma Rulman. The corner, three-point shot goes up. Is no good. Rebounded by the Chargers. Ali Kinesh has the ball.
Starting point is 01:03:25 Easy two-point shot goes up and is good. Chargers now lead 62 to 43. 3.30 left in the fourth quarter. Yeah, kind of a scrum there for the ball, but able to get corral at his, out of Cornish, great rebound by her. Oaks has the ball for O'DU, guarded by Rulman, passes to the corner.
Starting point is 01:03:43 dribbling, pass it back to the top. Key back with the wing that's Chapman shot goes up three-point shot is good for the Panthers cutting their deficit 62 to 46 315 left in the fourth quarter yeah so 16 points separate your chargers no to you just don't turn the ball over too many times you'll be all right ODU takes a rebound off of a missed shot and they will take the ball back number one wheeler for ODU passed back out of the three-point line back to Wheeler in the corner, down to low post. Passes battleway by Ellie Bruce.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Your chargers now lead 62.46, 250 left in the fourth quarter. As Maddie Green checks in for the Chargers. Maddie Green in for Emma Rulman, her first time seeing some action tonight this afternoon. Wow, I mean, what a play there. What a sequence of events happened really quick. The Inbounder passed it off the back. of the charger got her own rebound shot it straight backwards airballed fell into the hands of one her own teammates another panther that's number one uh wheeler wheeler o d u jadleyler wheeler gets the shot up
Starting point is 01:05:05 draws a foul and score so she's shooting in hand one and just like that your charges now lead 62 to 49 245 left in the fourth quarter so a 13 point game still no reason to panic here got to be a little more careful, but you just don't let the press get to you. Right now, O'DU heavy pressing. Chargers is able to beat it there and draw a foul as Maddie Green, but as long as you don't let the press get to you, take your time on offense. Every shot clock you want to down past 15 seconds, if not down past 10 seconds, as we're going to get an air ball, and the possession will go to the Panthers. O'DU set to inbound Oaks, takes the ball back for the Panthers.
Starting point is 01:05:50 enters cross half court passes to number 20 over to number four that's haley chapman Chapman holds the ball passes it down to the corner dribbles down the baseline layup shot goes up is no good rebounded by bruce and the chargers mattie smith takes the ball back for hillsdale passes over to amelius larsky in the wing guarded tightly pick for mattie green shot goes up is good and a moving pick, a moving screen is called on Maddie Green. So the basket won't count, it'll be Panther basketball. So 13 point game, two minutes, seven seconds left. Charge your lead.
Starting point is 01:06:32 Same energy. Keep that pace nice and slow. Get that shot clock between down to 15 seconds. Probably about to follow pretty soon. Oaks takes the ball back for O'DU off the inbound pass, guarded closely by Magdalena Solarski. Shot goes to Haley. Chapman in the corner.
Starting point is 01:06:49 Her three-point shot is good. It's a 10-point game, 6252. Chargers leading with a minute 50 left in the fourth quarter. Amelia Slarski takes the ball back for the Chargers. Open shot. Open Magdalena Slarski, but she doesn't shoot. She holds the ball trying to run some clock out. Very smart play there by Slarsky.
Starting point is 01:07:08 Selfless play by the sophomore guard. Chargers holding the ball around the three-point line. Panthers have not fouled. Slarsky takes a shot. Is no good. Rebounded by Maddie Green. Shot goes up. Is no good. Rebounded by Bruce. Shot goes up for Peachesick. Three point. Rebounded by the Panthers. That's okay. Three offensive possessions there for the Chargers.
Starting point is 01:07:33 Able to take a lot of time off that clock. Only a minute, 11 seconds left. Ten point game. Bruce with a dominant block. An absolute steel wall down there in the paint. Sends a panther shot back into the stand. in front of her. And your Chargers now lead 62 to 52, 68 seconds left in the
Starting point is 01:07:55 fourth quarter. And O'DU takes the inbound pass. Oaks in the wing. Passed the Chapman in the corner. Oaks top of the key. Dribbles. Passed down the low post. That's Shackleford, guarded by Smith. Passes batted away and stolen by number one. That's
Starting point is 01:08:13 Peyton Adkins, who has just checked in for the Chargers. Magdalena Solarski. Back to Trapped in the corner, passes to Savannah Smith. Panther still not opting to foul. Smith dribbles the ball around the logo, picks it up, passes to Magdalena Solarski. Who dribbles, holds.
Starting point is 01:08:31 Passes back to the logo. That's Savannah Smith, top of the key. Three shots on the shot clock, peaches it, spins, shot goes up. It's good. Shot clock buzzer beater. They're going to go to the review booth to watch that one again. I didn't really think it was that close.
Starting point is 01:08:50 I thought you got that shot off preempt. easily. I did too. If it stands, your charges will lead 64 to 52 with 23.8 seconds left in the game. Yeah, we're going to go to a short media timeout here, just 30 seconds. You'll listen to Radio from Yelostell 101.7 FM. News twice an hour, every hour from SRN News. Catch up on the latest news happening now on WRFH. Take me out to the ball game. Starting point is 01:09:34 So nice at ODU. Everybody, the Don Tippett's Potter Arena. You're listening to Charger Basketball here at Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.1.1.7 FM. I'm Gabe Thiemard. And I'm Evan Mick. Your charges currently lead 62 to 52, with 23.8 seconds left in the fourth quarter against O'DU. Riffs are currently reviewing a shot clock buzzer beater from Andaleigh's Pitcherzic, which would put them up 12.
Starting point is 01:10:01 Both of us thought that it was pretty clear that went in. We're also not really sure ODEU is electing not to foul. This game's pretty much over. Not sure why they're taking so long to review this and didn't just kind of give her the basket. Yeah, out for your charges right now is number 23, Annalise Petrazek. Number 22, Maddie Green. Number one, Peyton Adkins.
Starting point is 01:10:22 Number four, Magdalena Solarski and number 21, Savannah Smith. But Podostick is waiting to check in after this play is over. Third year head coach, Breonna Brennan, talking to her players. Getting ready to celebrate a perfect 9-0 record at home, knock on wood. And a... Stick around after this one. The men's are next. So about 40, 45 minutes from now, all of this game has flew by, so maybe a little bit later.
Starting point is 01:10:56 The men are going to play O'DU as well. Hopefully another dominant performance. but a big game for them. They've been kind of hot and cold back and forth, and this is the time to get hot. You're kind of in that late mid-season. He's played a little more than half the games. You start to warm up here,
Starting point is 01:11:14 and you get hot right at tournament time. Absolutely. And for the women's basketball team, a win here puts them to 8 and 6 in conference play and tied with Walsh and Ashland for the fifth best record. And ODIU is a good men's. basketball team. They are 8 and 6 overall in the conference. 14 and 8 overall, including all their games, where Hillsdale is 6, 7 in the conference. And 9 and 12 overall, of course, they do
Starting point is 01:11:44 attempt to play some harder opponents. They always try to play at least one division one team early on in the season to get these guys ready. They've had some injuries. They've been hot and cold, but looking to get back on track here, look at a host to a playoff game. That's the beauty of basketball is it's not about being perfect, wins and losses-wise, like, you know, college football could be, you just need to get in. And once you're in, anything can happen. My old soccer coach always just tell me nobody remembers who wins the conference in the regular season. Nobody.
Starting point is 01:12:15 The goal is always to win the conference tournament 10 times more important and the stakes field 10 times high. Absolutely. Refes are still reviewing and they've added about two seconds left on the clock. We've got 25.9 seconds. Wow, two seconds left on this clock. I can't believe that. that might make a huge difference it's not
Starting point is 01:12:36 yeah two seconds I mean that might just be what ODAU needs to and they took a 10 point comeback they did take the basket away after all that wow I mean that's just ridiculous well it was about a five minute
Starting point is 01:12:53 rough conferring decision has amounted to instead of two points of the charge there's two seconds left in the clock added to it So 26 seconds left. Your Chargers lead by 10, 62 to 52. Sarah Oaks takes the inbound pass for the Panthers. Dribbles around the three-point line passes to Chapman. Haley Chapman dribbles.
Starting point is 01:13:15 Twist sends a crazy three-point shot up. Is rebounded by Act. She just shot that three-pointed or left-handed. She... And ODIU is going to foul. I mean, what in the world is going on? There's 9.2 seconds left. The chargers are up by 10.
Starting point is 01:13:31 an O'DU elects to foul I mean this is after electing not to foul for the last four minutes Yeah you think you would have fouled earlier Now we are looking to Get some free throws out Says Sidney Panazic takes one
Starting point is 01:13:46 Does not go You know if you are in the Hillsdale area today And you have a chance to come see this men's basketball team play It's a great experience They're a really really good team But also half time The Baby Race Baby Race
Starting point is 01:14:00 Oaks takes the ball coast to coast for the Panthers but misses the layup, rebounded, and that's game. Your Chargers win over the O'DU Panthers, 63 to 52, improved to a perfect 9-0 at home here in Don Tibus Padua Arena and improved to 8 and 6 in conference play, tied with Walsh and Ashland, depending on how they do today, for 5th in the GMAC conference. Yeah, a great game by Savannah Smith and Emma Ruman,
Starting point is 01:14:28 both having 15 points for. your hillside college chargers but signing off uh stick around if you want to listen to the men's game about half hour 45 minutes from now uh good luck roll chargers and we'll see you next time
