Modern Activism: complaining or problem solving?

Hi, I'm Ariel McDowell here with a word to the wise. In our digital era, the description activist is an increasingly sought after epithet. It is an often self-proclaimed identity and it's no wonder. The title helpfully informs others that you are a wonderful person. Modern activism often consists of recognizing the flaws in what other people do and asserting an ideal utopian vision of the way things should be. However, while criticism can be a fun way to boost feelings of moral superiority, it's important to remember that one can overdo brilliant commentary on the world's flaws. Benjamin Franklin wrote, Well done is better than well said.

Often hard work, a kind word and some innovation goes further in making the world a better place than zealous disparagement. In order to retain some semblance of humility, we should problem solve more often than we problem notice. This has been a word to the wise on Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.
