Hello, my name is Ariel McDowell, and I'm here with a word to the wise. Recently, I've noticed that modern selfie culture has become kind of weird. As a concept, selfies were introduced only in the last 20 years or so, and they can be a fun way to memorialize good times. However, this new phenomena of having extensive collections of photos capturing only one's own face is kind of odd and, frankly, a little narcissistic. Every once in a while, everyone needs a picture of themselves for a profile or headshot. But what possible reasoning exists for posting pictures?

of just one's own face on a media platform for the heck of it. Anyone can see what you look like in your group homecoming photos. And certainly no one needs an edited picture of just your face up close, contorted into an expression that flexes your features. Give me a good reason for posting selfies of just your face on Instagram. There aren't any, so stop it. That's today's word to the wise. I will see you next week.
