to give you dementia. Well, I mean, she's on the right track. This week, guys, has been very busy. For me, I'm not sure if you guys have had the same level of stress this week. Did I have... What's going on? So the other night at 1130, we hear this loud crash and we're like, okay, cool. So something happened on the

parkway, which is less than a mile from us. And nothing, I thought it was thunder, nothing. I said, oh, God, maybe what if something fell on my gazebo? Because that's, yeah, you just built that. Yeah, we look outside and the pool is been collapsed. It's not a, you know, expensive pool. It's an index, index, give us money. Um, give us a new pool. Give us a new pool. Give us money. Give us some, yes, give us money. So we look outside, it's it's collapsed. So we, I'm like, Oh, all right, cool. I blame my wife because she laid out too much water and it was too windy. And we get outside. And there's a giant burned tree on the pool if that we had a fire that spread from the parkway through the woods to our backyard in the

summer. Fire Department came out there like hey yeah that tree is gonna be fine even though it looks burned the inside is solid. Yeah, about those jerks those jerks and they and they also said to us even if it falls, it'll fall the other way. It'll fall into the woods. Gosh, I don't trust the fire department. Come on. Apparently not. They're not lumberjacks.

How big is how big was this tree? Um, I could have dare to put my backyard? Brad, I'm sorry, you haven't. But there's been, there's maybe about 15 feet from the fence to where the pool is. And it probably, the trees probably about 17 feet. And it's 24 inches thick. Did they like destroy your fence? It fell in a part of the lawn that we didn't put up a fence yet, thank God.

Yeah. So that's that's luck. Yeah. So I'm going to play lumberjack today. I get I unfortunately have to skip the gym because, you know, I have no choice. But you'll still be getting to work out though. I'm not using an X. I'm using a chainsaw.

With all the repairs and remodeling that we've done. Yeah, so we're going to have to look into investing and getting these trees taken care of. Well, if you have any fire, would you look and get rid of let me know because you don't have like an actual fire pit You have the propane thing, right? I do so That I guess that brings us to the next point like what am I gonna do in that area? Well, I'm gonna get rid of the pool You know, I didn't the pools too much maintenance. Yeah, but um, I'm probably just gonna build a patio area with a fire pit built in. Okay. So, you know, I have wood. I have wood for days. I used that wood for the fire. We're such five year olds. I mean, it's 750 in the morning Brad. Like, what else do you expect? Well, I mean, wherever Brad is, is a a different time, it's probably earlier for bread. Yeah, it's 7.50 in the morning.

I feel like I just haven't had a day off until yesterday, like, truly. Even though I've had days off, I've just had so much stuff going on. We had Thanksgiving a couple weeks ago, and there was a lot going on with that. I had my car at the mechanic for literally an entire day, so a bunch of stuff that I needed to get done.

I wasn't able to get done because I was at my parents for a little while and then I was at the mechanic for another couple hours waiting. And then this past weekend, we threw the 70th birthday party for my mother-in-law out on Long Island. It's been kind of stressful on my wife trying to get everything together for that because you know they rented a hall, they got a catered and everything, it was a surprise party. So it was a big deal. And well I didn't have a ton of involvement in it. I kind of like absorbed a lot of her stress.

So that was part of it. And then we spent a couple nights out on Long Island too. So driving out there is stressful, staying in an uncomfortable hotel for two nights is stressful, driving back is stressful. And then I worked 10 hour days. and the days that I'm working, I really can't do anything at all. By the way, Metro just busted in the locked door. Hey, buddy.

He, like, compresses body and go on in the door. He must have. Now, I have like a, like, the door to my office doesn't close fully. So I usually put like a door stopper at the bottom of it and just kind of wedge it shut and Metro just forces way through that. So we might get an appearance by him later. No closed doors, buddy. Yeah, he looked better shirtless than Kirk did. Yeah, totally. And they took full advantage of that. I think just by us with these comments, we've reached the only demographic. Yeah. But, let's need to hear no there. So while MacGyver is marvelling over Khan who is just a specimen from the 20th century

Yeah. So I mean, I mean, yes, technically, yeah, World War two, like, just kind of what Germany was trying to do. Oh, right, the perfect human, right. Blond hair, blue, white. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So this is like the next level of that.

I'm actually surprised that Kirk didn't come out in like one of his, you know, deep V shirts to talk to Khan. When he asked Khan about, you know, like, all those deep Vs were for Khan itself.

Like if you remember, like he had, like it was full on, I gotta show my chest off. Look how smooth this puppy is. Assuming that there's actually a machine that is replicating clothing on the ship, imagine Con saying, no, no, no, no, no, a deeper V. No, that's that's pretty much it. It's like, it's got to be down to the naval. Yeah, yeah, a deeper V silk, silk, please, and some embroidering around stitching there. To your point, Majid, like if they have like clothing replication machine,

why the hell are they giving everybody star-fleet uniforms? No, no, how about this, man? If there is cloning replication, why the hell is Kirk Shirt getting ripped the same damage I place every single time? Hahaha. By the way, when we get to it, they had a fight, Con, right? Con and Kirk. I mean, if you saw the episode,

it's not even good spoiler, but it's me jumping ahead. Kirk Shirt didn't get ripped, and I wonder if it's because he didn't want to just be bare chested directly across from. I think I figured it out. The Starfleet uniform is designed in a way to protect the crew members, right? And so it's supposed to protect from heat, from cold, all that bullshit, but what it

also supposed to do is prevent like strangulation and Make sure your clothes doesn't kill you randomly by getting pulled so therefore it just easily rips off Like shipper pants pretty much. Yeah, you know what I'll allow it Like like like like Brad is saying that all I'm picturing is the trailer for Magic Mike where it's chanting Tatum He just like riffs his pants off on stage God that's gonna be that's gonna be fun. who's the historian of the ship, she knows most about the 90s, but McIvers is set to brief him, brief Khan on current events, take an advantage of McIvers attraction towards him. Khan's house, they hit me to find a planet willing to be led by him, and needs her help to take over the enterprise Plot twist

Do you know how to drive your car? Of course. Yes. We're going to we're going to we're going to have to question your licenses. The instruction manual doesn't teach you how to drive. It teaches you how to like operate the vehicle. Yeah, but I mean, I feel like you can also just if if you wanted to, if Con knew, he can just go to the command share, press a few buttons and it kills the rest of the enterprise.

He could've done that. He could've just ejected them from these. That's canon. That's canon now. Yeah. There's a red button that kills everyone. So Con can navigate the ship. So Khan throws Kirk into a decompression chamber and threatens to slowly suffocate all of them, unless at least one of Kirk's crew

agrees to help him. Promising to treat them well if they join and saying that improving men is better than improving machines. Look, I've seen AI programs, it's dumb. Proof machine, that improved man later. But not a single crew member agrees to help Khan and he's dumbfounded. Having changed our McGiver's freeze Kirk from the chamber, Kirk and Spock vents an aesthetic gas throughout the entire ship to disabled Connors people. Conn escapes the gas and goes into engineering where he attempts to

destroy the enterprise but Kirk confronts him. And now we have a big fight scene. That engineering room by the way just built for fighting. Yeah, just built for fighting. It has like this giant, like the Amazon just put up like a boxing ring in there at this point because like, you have this huge open area surrounded by panels, you know, like. Yeah, if they would have had wrestling ropes,

yeah, where you just see curaches, because he keeps runs across the room. He does. He runs across the room. Parkhors off the wall and just try, he tries to spin kick him. Oh, God, what a fight. I want to get into that. But so Kirk holds a hearing after beating Con Kirk holds a hearing to decide

the fate of Conn and his people. Kirk drops all the charges and he sentenced Conn and his people to a penal colony. Oh, sorry, he thinks that setting Conn and his people to a penal colony. Sorry, he thinks that setting Kant and his people to a penal colony would be a waste of time. So he offers Kant a choice, either join modern society as a commoner or settle in a rule setty-alf of five, an uninhabited fertile world that he describes as no worse than botany bay, colony on earth. Kirk believes that would be a perfect place for Khan to quote-unquote tame. Khan accepts Kirk's offer, and instead of a core martial for McGivers, Kirk allows her to go with Khan. I mean, I don't think that was even in the conversation. I think they were smart enough to leave Khan's story open ended. Yeah.

I mean, like in reality, if they had never gotten back to that, and just this is where the story ended, I think this is still go down as one of the greats this episode. So this this episode aired in 1967 the wrath of Khan was released in 1982. Right. I think it's safe to say like between the 15 years that was like not even a real thought. Well, I mean, they didn't even start thinking about movies until Star Trek had been long off the air and there started being a letter writing campaign to get it back.

Mm-hmm. You know, and that's where the motion picture came from. How many years was it between the events of Space Sea and the Wrath of Con? You guys know? I can find out. 15. So I think the implication with Lawns character is that she is a descendant through, you know, centuries of, or generations rather than like,

is that like Conn, like got out of the cryogenic sleep and then had a baby and then went back to sleep or anything like that, you know. I mean, it's something he could do because he's that damn swath. He is. Like, I'm pretty sure McGibbon's got pregnant just looking at him. But I almost got pregnant with him. Yeah. Yeah. True story. Oh, by far. Yeah, I mean, it's hard for an actor to take an iconic performance like that and really do it justice. And better to Cumberbatch is a tremendous actor, but I feel like the script of Into Darkness failed him more than he failed the role. Does that make sense? Yeah. Yeah.

I really feel like the Calvin timeline, I don't know, it was a disjustice for the actor. Because I know that we're trying to do a big reveal and with Benedict Cumberbatch, like I love that guy as an actor, but I felt like that was like, that's an unfair situation to try to like have him fill those shoes, right? Yeah, when they were promoting the movie, sorry, you're,

when they were promoting the movie and they were like, oh, so you're playing Khan, he's like, I'm not playing Khan. Right. And they asked JJ Abrams to like, oh, so better than coming back, just playing Khan. He's like, no, Khan is not in this movie. Khan is not in this movie. Right. And the movie comes out. You're like, oh, it was Khan. You're like, ah, I got you. It was Khan all alone. Yeah. It was, you know, it was a big deal for a lot of people. I didn't see the I didn't see the hype. I didn't see the hype.

I didn't see the... Well, the thing is, is that like Cumberbatch had such big shoes to live up to. And part of what makes Star Trek 2 the wrath of Con work is this episode, right? We get to see this iconic character return. You know, think about it this way man like Ricardo Maltibon was so good that they titled a movie after his character. How often does that happen in a one-off episode where somebody comes back and has such a large role like that it's unheard of almost entirely in Star Trek. So, you know, now you have this setup

episode, you have the payoff movie. But in the Kelvin timeline, you didn't get that setup. You only had the, you had basically two hours of them establishing this character and then trying to pay it off and they just I think they packed the film with so many cute references and nods to the original that they kind of failed to make their own original you know. Oh you mean it's darkness? Yeah yeah yeah and I like it into darkness but you know it's it's certainly not without its issues. I think I've I've described this before it's certainly not without its issues. I think I've described this before.

It's the Kelvin timeline, those are good movies, but they're not Star Trek movies. I think that's an accurate statement. Yeah, I mean, I think JJ Abrams openly came out and said, oh, I'm not a really a Star Trek fan. I'm a Star Wars fan. And he made the pacing and and structure that of which a Star Wars movie would have a little little faster. And then

he went back to Star Wars and just ruined my childhood. At of the three Kelvin Timeline films, the third one is actually my favorite and that feels the most like Star Trek to me. Yeah, and it wasn't even done by him. Right. So I think, you know, that's probably why I think that kind of like furthers the point that you're making. Yeah. Who who did third one who did beyond Justin Lynn? Justin Lynn. Yeah, he he did wonders for the Fast and Furious franchise. Right. and I was nervous when they announced him, I'm like, this guy, like Fast and Furious director, really. Are they still doing a fourth one?

You know, the the one thing I was afraid of was that this was not going to live up to my expectations because it's such an iconic episode that is well known. The story is so impactful that they made a movie out of it. It was my biggest fear that I was going to watch it. And then we were like, wow, I can't believe they made a movie out of this or not of this but in reference to this and it's I am pleasantly surprised with how well the episode did there were some obvious corny cheesy parts with having the givers fall head over heels with with con which is kind of like funny in my sense but you know I'll get over that and then and I expect it higher. Oh, okay. I'll go to 8.00000.

I mean, I had a lot of the same concerns that Debra had too. You know, like rose colored lenses and all that stuff. lenses and all that stuff, you know, I Have a very special place in my heart for Star Trek to the wrath of time, but it has been a long time since I've seen space seed and and there were scenes from this that I actually didn't even remember so I'm not entirely sure that I've seen it start to finish in one sitting. But I was looking forward to watching this episode. I wanted to see if it still lived up to the hype. And it absolutely did. And I think what I took away from this most of all

is how riveting Ricardo Maltibon's performance was. He made William Shatter look like a chump in my opinion. He outacted William Shatter look like a chump in my opinion. Yeah. He outacted William Shatter on every single level. He made you like just glued to the screen every time he was on it. And like yeah, it was a little unrealistic for McIverdon's to fall in love with him so quickly, but was it? You know, at the same time, it's like,

this guy is magnetic. And, you know, I just, I kind of feel like they could have thrown the scent on his evil intentions a little bit better because every time something with the ship, like when they first discovered the ship, you heard evil music. When they first came across all these cryopods, you heard evil music. And it was kind of forecasting it a little too heavily. I think they could have maybe dodged that and been, you know, left a little bit more to the imagination and

a little bit more to the surprise of it all. But I don't think it took away from anything. Like just top to bottom, a tremendous episode. I think it still stands to test the time. And I'm giving it a 10. I loved it. Wow. All right. That's, uh, that's good, buddy. That's blue ball set. Brad, do you want to revisit your score? No, I'm sticking with me. Like, I enjoyed it. I, um, I also had some concerns going into this episode because both of you hyped it up. You said there were episodes in the first season that were just gonna be worth the weight. One of them was the Birds of War episode.

Wait, stop. Birds of... Birds of... Bird of prey? Downs of terror. Balance of terror, I was close. So we had balance of terror, which was great. And they really revisited that in Shrish New terror, which was great. And they really they revisited that in strange new worlds,

which was great. There is the world of tomorrow. True, what is the cult? City on the edge forever. City on the edge forever. Which is coming up in a few weeks. Great. And we also had this one.

So I am so far with two for two, in my opinion, in terms of the episodes that you was hyped up, I would give this a nine. It's not, it's not perfect. Oh, actually, is it perfect? In my mind, what flaws that I have for this episode? I had no flaws with this episode. Crap, guys, I'm giving you the 10. What? Yeah, no, I had no flaws with this episode. I can't think of anything that I had issues with.

Wow. I mean, listen, even if you consider that McGiver, McGiver's fell in love with Khan too early. Consider her field of study. So, right? So, the other thing too, Mijid, like, um, McCoy, right? He didn't give two shits when Khan had it. And, you know, I can understand it, but that felt a little out of character where like, it felt too brave and bold for the character. I think that though this is the first time that we kind of got the voice of Makoi that

we've come to know and appreciate up to this point, right? Like I feel like this is a stepping stone in the way his character is written, you know. Because like if you think about how he acts, I mean you and I are more familiar with the movies than we are with the series as a whole. But if you think about like the things he says and does in the movies, it's more in line with this sort of attitude that he had in Spacey than it is to any episode that we've seen up to this point. That's fair. So, I'm hoping that this is just a shift in

the character and this was the first step in it. If they don't shift the character, then you are right. This is out of place and it means nothing. But if this is a change. A natural evolution. Right. Right. So to that point, I would like to change my score. to that point, I would like to change my score. Dramatic, a solid argument in that sense. I would like to change to a nine. True, did you already lock the file? Can you go back and edit it?

You know what? Screw you. I'll just go ahead and type to time myself. Well, you know what the good news is is that with, you know, due to rounding and everything that bumps space to eat up to an overall 10. So I'm here myself. But yeah, no, Brad, I respect your nine, and I respect that we were able to believe you. It really was like the McCoy thing. Like, I didn't like, it just felt off, but like, to the way Drew described it, where it's the more of the evolution of the character from what we see now to what we were going to see in the movies. And that actually makes more sense, because we're going to have to, Mijie, when you watch the movies versus the show, there is a distinct difference in a lot of the characters, and you need to find a way to get to that point. And, you know, this is really, like,

the first season's really been the Kirk show. That's, yeah. That's all it really is. And you can't, it's so frustrating to watch. And we almost never really see too much of the other characters. Hell, even like bones and Spock, we don't really see so much of them. It's a like, a Shatner makes so much of a point to make sure that he's the star, that like you kind of lose sight of those those other characters. And I think I think that that is a good point where it's this is the It's like, but again, like if they don't do anything with this over the next few episodes, then, you know, that's all for not, you know what I mean?

Yeah, I mean also if they recorded this one before they recorded others or, you know, depending on the production order, you know, we could just see this glimpse in nothing else. According to memory alpha, this was the 25th episode produced. So they actually produced this, like, so this was released as episode number 22. But it was the 25th. So, so this is actually earlier or later in the production order. So, I mean, we'll see. We'll see how it pans out. You know, we still have seven more episodes of the season. Maybe McCoy, you know, gets balls
