Starting point is 00:02:20 Strive to be better than yesterday. Guys, I am so excited about our guest today he is I've been a fan of him for a long time he is literally the king of the internet he's a part of YouTube's funniest comedy group RDC world one has 3.2 million subscribers and was trending number three on YouTube within the first 24 hours of the release of anime house three it is the one the only mark phillips well appreciate that introduction thanks you can go to the internet that's a little uh you know you know something crazy to say but i'll you know i'm saying i appreciate that but
Starting point is 00:02:56 it's it's facts man like everything you touch everything you put out it's it's it's viral it's trending um i am just grateful to to be able to do that you know what i'm saying i really am like in general i don't like literally just be like man this better go viral i'll just be like putting out something that i like and i hope it goes well you know what i'm saying so i mean with that i just try to put out my best content not really just like switch up and be like this is some stuff i just want to go viral i I feel like that really has the opposite effect, you know what I'm saying, to make it go viral. Appreciate it, appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Oh, for sure. Whenever you were – so I know when you were coming up, you wanted to have your own anime. Manga? Is it manga? Yeah, manga. Okay, manga. Because a lot of people say manga.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Yeah, no, you asked the wrong people. They'll be like, manga. I say manga, so since I say manga, I'm sure it's manga. Okay. Because I pronounce it wrong every time. And somebody got something to say, and I'll be like manga i say manga so since i say manga i'm sure it's manga okay because i pronounce it wrong every time and so i got something to say and i'll be like oh brother here we go with this again but yeah i wanted to have a manga and um that's how i started so did you ever think you know whenever you were in high school and you came up with this idea did you think even though
Starting point is 00:03:58 you know it didn't go in the direction of having your own uh manga manga or anime did you ever think it would get to this point where you're at now? No, not really, because I never really, like, wanted to be in front of the camera. I just wanted to, like, write the show or just, like, something like that. And we were trying to be comic book writers, so I never really tried to come out here and just be a comedian. I mean, a few people would say I was funny in high school,
Starting point is 00:04:21 but, like, I didn't want to be a comedian at all. But, you know, when we weren't good at being manga artists you had to do something else and i wanted to i wanted to be in the entertainment industry so that's that's what i wanted to do so i mean no i didn't to answer the question yeah is that due to the fact that people because i know in your 1 million subscriber video y'all made a song rdc world one made like a little song yeah in your verse you were talking about how people were doubting you people were like making fun of you for coming up what was it like you know creating this new wave of entertainment meaning that you know in the black culture it's not like popular to be into anime or comic books what's it like creating coming up creating this new way of
Starting point is 00:05:06 entertainment yeah definitely um i feel like now it is more popular to be an anime manga but like yeah back when like i had first started doing it i felt like like the crowds i hung around was just different like they didn't like anime and stuff like i hung with the i guess the popular kids whatever and they didn't watch anime you know so I really was the one that put them on anime. You know, like, Naruto was just coming out. It wasn't just coming out, but it was just getting big. And I watched Naruto heavy, so. And I'm not really the type to hide something I like,
Starting point is 00:05:34 so when they would come around, like, my house and stuff, or I go to their house, I'd be like, y'all want to watch Naruto? Look at this fight, you know, show them a fight. And they'd be like, hold on, this ain't no kid stuff like I thought it was. And then they'd start watching, and on, this ain't no kid stuff like I thought it was. And then they start watching and everybody start watching and stuff like that. I mean, and then, you know, like, that was when the good things would happen. Like, I mean, I feel like, like, friends like that, you know, those friends that you ain't really just close with.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Yeah, those associates. Yeah, yeah. More associates. They were just like, like, why you watch that and this, this, this? And I'm like, what do you mean? Like, it's something I like. Like, I ain't questioning what you watch. Don't question what I watch. You know what I'm saying? Like, so, like, and this, this, this? And I'm like, what do you mean? Like, it's something I like. Like, I ain't questioning what you watch. Don't question what I watch.
Starting point is 00:06:06 You know what I'm saying? Like, so, like, it was just like that. It wasn't like I was getting bullied or nothing. No, but, like, it was just more so, like, they were like, bro, why you watch that? Like, that's lame. That's this. And I was like, okay, I guess. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:06:17 Yeah. And you have DreamCon. Let everybody know what DreamCon is because I would explain it. Oh, okay, okay. This just came right here, right? Yeah. Oh, yeah. DreamCon is our very own convention it is a convention that we made because we felt like we
Starting point is 00:06:30 were invited to so many conventions back in the day and we would go there and we'd walk around uh do our little table stuff and then i feel like there was nothing to do so like people just walk around it's like thousands of people but not much to do besides like go and talk to like like other celebrities up there like stranger and talk to like like other celebrities up there like stranger things kids and stuff like that but they lines are long so if you don't got no patience you're not gonna talk to them like they lines like you'd be in line for an hour or something so it's like i'm like no nobody everybody don't want to do that you know what i'm saying so i put a convention together that has something to do with gaming anime and um just comic book
Starting point is 00:07:04 stuff in general just popular pop culture kinda but it's mostly focused around anime and gaming and uh we just wanted to put some new things in there so at dream con you can do dodgeball there's anime quizzes that you can win money uh there's basketball it's literally a three-on-three basketball tournament um there is nerf wars we got actual nerf people to come up there and shoot the nerf guns at each other uh five on five and they run the teams every time at the dodgeball tournament like that as well. They got, like, not auditions, performances. Like, if you want to do a rap performance, it's to help, like, upcoming rappers. We got, like, booths to put new artists in to help new upcoming artists.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Because I'm all about helping, like, new people and people that's trying to get into something. You know what I'm saying? Because what I feel like is, I was chasing my dream and nobody helped me. So I'm going to help people because that's what I want to do personally. I feel like you could just go around and just ask the world.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Nobody really helped me get to this point. And I feel like that's why I work so hard to stay at this point because just nobody gave me the platform. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like, I would send my videos to people to post on their pages, and they would be like, hey, $20 an hour.
Starting point is 00:08:10 I'd be like, no. First of all, I'm broke. So I would never pay that. You know what I'm saying? Exactly. So then, like, what I would do is I would be like, I never told people this. I don't know, outside of, like, my group and stuff. But I would tell them, I'd be like, look, how about this?
Starting point is 00:08:24 If it don't hit this many views i will pay i never had to pay it it always hit there we go yeah that's crazy and i feel like that's just god to be honest with you because i wasn't paying either so i mean they was really just gonna take it down that's what they do it's like those pages like you know the meme pages yeah before they started getting like saturated um they helped us out a lot just because i would send those the videos and they'd be like, no, pay money. And I'd be like, no, I don't want to pay money. I'd be like, but just look at this content.
Starting point is 00:08:51 You think it's funny. They would laugh at it. So I'd be like, if you think it's funny, what you think your people actually are? You know what I'm saying? And they would actually be like, you know what? You're right. So I'm going to post it. And they'd say, but if it don't do good, I'm going to take it down quick.
Starting point is 00:09:02 And I was like, okay. And then they'd post it, and it would do good. And then they started being, like, more repetitive and be like, okay, I'm going to cycle and just post more and more and more. And, like, a lot of people would find us through there. Because we had the YouTube channel, like, two years before I started doing Instagram videos. And somebody told me to start doing Instagram videos, like, just because there was other people doing, like, 15-second ones. And Vine was big, but, like, I'm not going to make no six make no six second video yeah so i already didn't want to make 15 second videos so like i started making 15 ones and they actually started like blowing up so right so it seems like
Starting point is 00:09:36 through you coming up you had like a level of confidence like you knew you had something you knew it was gonna work is that is that true did you know like this is going to work um i mean i feel like in general i'm just like kind of a confident person just like confident enough so like um i just believed in the work um like if i believe that something is funny maybe other people believe that something's funny uh so that's what i feel like i did like just confident and believing and and like trusting in god always so for sure for sure and um whenever you are making videos what was the time where you were like oh shit like people are fucking with this video like people like this hmm uh probably the video called when people take anime too far ones that's uh the one like that's top five first of all if you haven't seen it that video is top
Starting point is 00:10:23 that is a top five video. I agree. That is one of my favorites. Like, I had posted it actually going to class at UNT. I posted the video. It was a 15-second video. And it just, like, it did some numbers that I'd never seen, like some quick numbers. Like, it was like 500 comments in, like, 15 minutes or something. And I was like, what is going on?
Starting point is 00:10:42 And then it started getting a lot of views. And then people were like, make a full version, make a full version. So we drove down to Waco. I had to drive down to Waco because the rest of my crew was not at the same school as me. And so I drove down there. I was like, hey, bro, y'all come down from college for a second. Let's make a full video. So we made the full video.
Starting point is 00:11:00 And then, like, no, we didn't make a full video then. We kept making other videos. And then we moved in together to college because I was like, no, we didn't make a full video then. We kept making other videos. And then we moved in together to college because I was like, hey, everybody, look, these are getting views. Let's move in together. So they all came up to my college, UNT, and we started making videos there. And we made the full video of When People Take MMA Too Far. And it got a million and 24 hours on YouTube. And then I was like, a million and maybe two days.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Maybe two days. I don't remember completely. I know the second one, When People Take MMA Too Far, part two, got a million and maybe two days maybe two days I don't remember completely I know the second one when people take anime too far part two got a million and 24 hours and those two like I didn't know what was going on so you like tweaked out whenever you because I can't imagine yeah yeah I mean I mean wait I think anime part one like it took a week to get a million but like regardless we never had over like 10,000 views or or 30 000 views or something like that so like it was just moving so fast on youtube and i was like what what is going on and then yeah like i was happy and i just wanted to keep putting out content you know i put out some other stuff it didn't do nearly as good like it would get like a hundred thousand but that's
Starting point is 00:11:59 still a lot to me because i was like well you know what's going on you know what i'm saying yeah i'd love to see a hundred thousand no now. No, that's serious. Like, I guess I said that kind of like, man, 100,000 is low. No, but for you, it is. I mean, you're like essentially like the Drake of the internet. Everything you put out to hit. Yeah. I don't want to jinx it.
Starting point is 00:12:17 I mean, yeah, yeah. Knock on wood. But yeah, everything you put out is viral. Like, you put out the airplane video not too long ago yeah viral within like an hour and I was like this dude's killing it did good it did good I mean I feel like the only downside of this is that sometimes we can't tell jokes like we used to tell jokes just because that many people like affected by it you gotta be very like airplane video like I filmed that like a
Starting point is 00:12:43 month ago but like I didn't want to put it out because I don't want to seem insensitive if a plane crashed you know what I'm saying see I didn't even think of that so you got to think about that kind of stuff when you're putting out videos now and now so like just because like yeah they were all damn like people don't be like they'd be like man you made that joke because you want to make fun of this and I'm like dude I wouldn't even think about that you know what I'm saying damn like how many times have y'all got to maybe a writing stage at a filming stage or an editing stage and you're like uh no this is not it or we can't put that out whether that be it's not funny enough or it's like teetering the line of like sensitivity
Starting point is 00:13:19 or insensitivity I feel like a lot I feel like we get there a lot, more so because of, like, if I feel like it's not funny enough. Like, I'm very picky with every video, so, like, we'll make a video, and I'll be like, that's not funny enough. And then six months later, I'll be like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:13:34 It is funny enough. And then we'll post it, and it'll do good. And I don't know, like, if it's, like, being patient, like, has to work with that or something, but there's been a lot of videos that I'll be like,
Starting point is 00:13:45 it's not funny enough, and I be like, it's not funny enough, and I get frustrated that it's not funny enough or something. We end up making another video that is good enough to me right there, and then next thing you know, that video becomes funny enough later on, and then we post it out. You could tell if I have hot, taller hair
Starting point is 00:13:59 in the present, and then you look at a video and my hair's cut, my beard's not that, if I pulled it, they'd be like, what? That don't make sense but like it's because we held a video for a long period of time and then until then it was funny you know what i'm saying yeah how many of your videos are calculated because you seem very calculative like i don't know if this is i don't want to put words in your mouth but you seem very calculated to like you know what's going to
Starting point is 00:14:23 hit you know like what people are talking about what as as far as your like twitter videos your instagram videos how much of that is like y'all sitting down and be like okay calculated this is what we're gonna do and how much of it is like y'all hitting the group message like oh did y'all see that well since we all live together like we ain't gotta hit the group message but like i feel like that in itself is a point in, like, I am very calculated at that point, like, just because we live together. Yeah. That's already very calculated of me to do that.
Starting point is 00:14:52 But, like, we're all friends. We're close friends. You know what I'm saying? So we sit in the living room. Something happen. Usually I'll be like, all right, did y'all see this? And then they'd be like, yeah, that's funny. Or one of them bring up, like, you see this?
Starting point is 00:15:03 And I'll be like, oh, that's funny. But I'll, like, be like, all right, let's make a video on this. That's how it usually happens, like the NCAA March Madness video. Like once it ended, I was like, man, that'd be funny. I feel like they moved the rim because there ain't no way he's going to smoke a layer at the last second, you know what I'm saying? Even though I know he's nervous. I'm not trying to make fun of you, man.
Starting point is 00:15:21 But kind of. I know he was nervous. So I was like, man, no, man, they just helped Duke out. So, you know what I'm saying? I feel fun of you, man. But, like, I know he was nervous, so I was like, man, no, man. They just helped Duke out, so, you know what I'm saying? I feel like they moved the rim. So then I made it into a video, and, like, we're all in the back, and we moved the rim at the right time. And, like, it just went crazy.
Starting point is 00:15:35 I'm not going to say I didn't think that was, like, not going to go. I felt like it was going to do that good just because it was well-timed and quickly put together, and I thought it was comedy. So at the same time, yeah, that's kind of how we do it. We sit around, like, oh, this is funny. Most of the time, we're just arguing about something, like anime or something, and then I'll be like, all right, come on, guys, let's make a video.
Starting point is 00:15:57 Turn the camera on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's usually how it goes. And you mentioned that y'all live together. That's a lot of people in one house, and I was looking at an interview with um ben and dylan and they were talking about living in a house together and they said it's great we're all best friends but they were saying uh it's kind of trash sometimes because the house gets super dirty but i feel like that was kind of like a pg answer what's
Starting point is 00:16:19 the worst part of living with your best friends but like a real answer i mean it is trash sometimes because it gets dirty but like we've been better like we we on a cycle of where like one person has to clean the house that day like on monday through sunday type stuff um i fight the when you're around someone a lot sometimes you want to be not around that person a lot so i feel like that's how it is with us sometimes like i'll come in there like because, like, a certain amount of time in the morning. Like, we'll start at 8 a.m. or something, and, like, we'll walk in there, just chill.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Like, it ain't like we just sit in there, like, the office, but, like, we're just, like, chilling, because I just feel like we got to be around each other and make some great content. So we sit in there, and it's just, like, sometimes I feel like, like like I'm tired playing with them. You know what I'm saying? Like, golly. Or like when our arguments get too serious and we be like, bro, like, I'm so tired. Like, I need to go like somewhere else.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Like, that's usually how it be because like one person like just get on people's nerves sometimes. One person will get on each other's nerves and just like that. I feel like that's a trash part of living together. But like, I mean, I wouldn't trade it right now you know what i'm saying yeah um and i mean i can't really say what's the trashest part i don't know i don't know i really like yeah you're in a good position i mean you're in a house with your best friends making great videos doing what you would love for a living so it's you know finding something bad about that is would be it should be hard to find it which is a good thing yeah yeah y'all travel in. Cause y'all are really friends. Cause
Starting point is 00:17:48 I remember the first time I saw you in person, I was at the, at the gym and going around the gym, it was like RDC world one everywhere. I was like, Oh, everybody's in here. So y'all, y'all really just move around together together. Yeah. No, we really do. Like, even if I got to go, like, cause sometimes i'll get like sponsored on a trip as like supreme dreams and i gotta go out there um which supreme dreams is like people never like understand why there's a supreme dreams in rdc world one in the first place it's because like me and af created rdc world one back in the day when we was doing the comic book stuff um then we started adding people to the group mostly me because F is not like really just like out you know I'm saying outspoken person so like I was like I took on that role and just let
Starting point is 00:18:32 it completely and a F is the co-creator and I started adding everybody to the group I added Leland and all them and then we all like became RDC World one But since RDC World 1 kind of didn't go how we planned completely, I started making videos by myself. And I just named myself Supreme Dreams on my Instagram ad just because I was trying to look for a clean name, honestly. And I was like, oh, Supreme Dreams. And then I was like, that's clean. And then I started making videos by myself,
Starting point is 00:19:00 and I got like a few millions. More than a few, actually. I got a lot. It was like 10 videos, 10, 20 videos by myself and I got like a few millions. More than a few actually. I got a lot like, it was like 10 videos, 10, 20 videos by myself that got like over a million, over five million. And then I was like,
Starting point is 00:19:12 what's going on? And that's what made them move in together because I was doing that by myself and I was like, I had a group? And we all friends, we all talking to group chat every day. We might as well just move in and try it.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Nobody from Waco has ever did that so I don't have no blueprint. I don't know who to, you know what I'm saying? So I'm just off my thoughts, just going, moving forward. So I was like, okay. And so that's how Supreme Dreams and RDC, I just never changed my name for Supreme Dreams.
Starting point is 00:19:39 I don't see no point. But Supreme Dreams is RDC. I don't want nobody to think like, oh, Mark trying to do a solo mission no i'm still just rdc just i named myself at supreme dreams right all of it got to do with dreams that's the main point you should be getting that real dreams change the world supreme dreams like dreams is our stuff like chasing dreams is what i preach to everybody so um i so like when we go to places and sometimes i'll go at supreme dreams
Starting point is 00:20:07 like i'll still be like all right y'all try to come with me just in case because you never know what can happen yeah so that's how i see it too because we're still trying to make it at the end of the day a lot of people think it's like oh million views y'all made it no like we still try to make it that's not my dream my dream wasn't to be clouded you know what i'm saying yeah my dream is to make movies to make make TV shows that's on Netflix, that have a meaning. I like to make a world, like just make a whole world, like something that I can just be like, okay, this can happen in this world,
Starting point is 00:20:34 this can happen, and entertain people. And most of all, just affect people. Because a lot of movies I watch affect me. You know what I'm saying? I'm not saying I'll be sitting there crying in a movie, but I feel like a movie can make me cry. You know what I'm saying? I'm not saying I be sitting there crying in the movies, but I feel like a movie can make me cry. You know what I'm saying? Like I will get choked up in a movie.
Starting point is 00:20:48 And I feel like, since they portrayed that emotion to me, I like to portray that emotion back to the world in the films and videos I create. And when I say I create, I mean to say we create. You know what I'm saying? Sometimes I just, yeah. Sometimes I watch quality. Like, cause we all are a strong point in making these videos.
Starting point is 00:21:08 I write the videos. AF works the cameras. Leland and them is like top tier actors at the same time. Somebody does sound. Somebody does this. Like, we're a team. For real, for real. RDC world.
Starting point is 00:21:19 You know what I'm saying? Right. But yeah, yeah. That's what I want to do. I want to make the TV shows and stuff i don't want to just be clouded on the internet yeah and you talk about you want your own tv show and on your youtube you have these long form videos like these black avengers or uh anime houses do you feel a different kind of pressure whenever you're making those because those are big videos people are like
Starting point is 00:21:42 waiting for those i like you tweet something normal you'll tweet about about your day just something has nothing to do with your videos your career i'll click on and look at the replies be like okay cool when's anime house coming out yeah i'm like damn they don't care about me at all bro like they don't care what's how's that pressure like going into those long form um i feel like sometimes the pressure is like the pressure is very wild. But I feel like Kobe. I'm taking the last shot on him. Talk to him.
Starting point is 00:22:09 Talk to him. You hear me? But for real, the only time I feel like an extreme amount of pressure is two or three times. It was LeBron in the locker room the first one, just because it got eight million views overnight and I was lost. I was like, what am I supposed to do now? And it was 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 people every other hour.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Like, where is the next LeBron video? And I'm like, I made this video on a whim. Literally, I was watching the game, and LeBron missed a shot or something. And they were not hooping. And I was like, oh, I know LeBron is hot in that locker room. And I literally said, hey, everybody, let's suit up like the Cavs, and let's make a LeBron video that's literally how it happened I came out as LeBron
Starting point is 00:22:48 we made that video in like I kid you not no more than 30 minutes made that video one take man one and it was like fire you know what I'm saying literally like everybody was watching it I woke up the next morning I went to sleep and I and I was like, man, this feel a lot of people. I posted it at 12 a.m., so I'm like, okay, a lot of people like this. That's crazy. I was like, that's a good video, man. I went to sleep. I woke up, man.
Starting point is 00:23:13 It was at 8 million on Facebook and, like, a million on Twitter already and all that stuff. And I said, yeah, yeah, this is it. Like, I was happy. And then once people started asking for the follow-up after the next game, I was like, I am under pressure. Like, my team knew I was under pressure, too. They was like, hey, bro, like, what's up?
Starting point is 00:23:32 I was like, bro, like, give me a second, bro. I don't know, bro. Like, this caught me off guard. You know what I'm saying? So that time, I feel like, I don't know. The only other time I'm under pressure is the pressure I put on myself. Right. Like, I need to finish this video, and it needs to be this level.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Because every video, I'll be like, all right, no, this time we're going above and beyond. So, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. And like you said, there's a lot of people waiting for these videos. Like, Kids Next Door, for example, I just made that as one episode. It wasn't supposed to be a lot of episodes. But then I accidentally did a 2b continue and when I say accidentally it's like I run out of time in a day and I'll be like I'm gonna just throw a 2b continue right here and it's like they ain't
Starting point is 00:24:12 gonna care that much the video blows up and now everybody asking me to do this door and I'm like I am not even in Denton no more you know what I'm saying so I don't know what to do we got beards now we had no beards at the time like come on bro but like I don't know what to do. We got beards now. We had no beards at the time. Like, come on, bro. But, like, I don't know what to say. People still ask for Christmas Thieves Part 2. And a lot of people don't even know what Christmas Thieves is, but our very OG fans do. And I'll be like, bro.
Starting point is 00:24:35 You shouldn't have brought it back up. I shouldn't have. I really shouldn't have. But they've been asking for it. You going to give it to them? I don't know. I don't know what I'm going to do. Like, I was going to go on a break, but next week,
Starting point is 00:24:45 and I know they're going to be asking for a lot of stuff. The only thing I can say is that videos are coming. You know what I'm saying? Videos are coming. I have got better at not promising stuff. A lot of people would be on my head for that. They'd be like, Mark, you promised this. And it's, like, I promise a lot of videos.
Starting point is 00:25:02 And I swear I mean to do them. But then, like, other stuff comes up, and then we swear i mean to do them but then like other stuff comes up and then we get pushed back and pushed back and pushed back so i swear i mean to do those videos i just want y'all to know that so how much how much it goes into the the anime houses compared and like just anime house for example because i'm that in the new one that intro that one shot through the house shit was so clean and so how much it goes in to those compared to like normal videos is it more time writing is it more time like redoing yeah so I write the scripts for all the videos and like I wrote the song for that intro and outro song and like but
Starting point is 00:25:40 we're also in sync with me and after sync. And, like, I had to sit in this man's room for, like, 26 hours to write that song. Damn. I wasn't writing the song. I was more support. I must have came up with, like, two lines. I was like, Af, come on, man. I wrote my verse. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:25:59 He wrote his parts. But, like, on the outro, I wrote my verse. And then, like, we got to do the verse because I have once a bit rapper Too okay, so like it's like really like did him He's tough too cuz in the house tour video. He was doing the little like Jamaican like yeah No, he's tough. He's alright and flow. Yeah, like I kid you not man skin flow for real Like me and I've back when we was in middle school We used to be like not middle school high school
Starting point is 00:26:24 We'd be at his house we put on random beats and we'd rap so we'd freestyle and like we freestyled every day like it became more like a we don't do it no more which we should but like um i'm more into writing you know what i'm saying but um like we used to just freestyle every time and it was just crazy and like he wanted he started wanting to become a rapper more and more, and then he is a rapper now. I wouldn't even say he wanted to become a rapper no more. I think Af is a rapper, an actual rapper. I think our songs get like 100,000 views, which is wild.
Starting point is 00:26:54 We're not artists. So, and Af, he went crazy on the intro. But yeah, it takes a long time behind the scenes to do Anime House 3, Black Avengers 3, all that stuff, because they're all going up in quality. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:27:06 We got a Black Magic, a movie camera. You know, first of all, I never thought I would spend that much money on a camera. So when that camera
Starting point is 00:27:12 got to the house, I said, it's getting used. I don't care. We didn't know how to work it. I said, pick it up, go outside,
Starting point is 00:27:18 we finna use this. I don't care what comes out of it. That's what I was thinking because like, I'm very wild in that format. Ask everybody in RDC, like before we had money to go to a house, I would move into a house that cost more That's what I was thinking. Because, like, I'm very wild in that format. Ask everybody in RDC. Like, before we had money to go to a house, I would move into a house that cost more money than what we make it so I can force myself to make that amount of money. I kid you not.
Starting point is 00:27:34 That's tough. Yeah. That's what I do. Like, literally, they had to tell me not to move into a house. And this is absurd. Listen to me. This is Texas. This is absurd.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Please hold on. It was $10,000 a month. There is no way we was going to make $10,000 a month at that point in time. You know what I'm saying? So I settled and went down a little bit. I didn't say how much, but I settled and went down. And it was still an insane amount. We were not making the money ever in no house.
Starting point is 00:27:59 In three houses we've been in, we've never made the money for rent until it was time to make the money for rent. Because I feel like you put yourself in a situation where you have to succeed you're gonna succeed yeah that's just how you gotta survive you got to you gotta survive you're gonna survive you know i'm saying my my parents are not broke you know i'm saying they're not poor they are just middle class parents you know i'm saying and they work they get overworked by their bosses and stuff and i don't want to be overworked by boss or anything like that and um i want to say that like i told my mom she would be giving me money and stressing in college like she'd be stressing like i gotta give this money and pay for your classes again this is this like she ain't mad but she just like you know what i'm saying but like she was stressing over it
Starting point is 00:28:38 like completely i was like in college i told my mom and dad i was like don't give me no more money you know what i'm saying so that's what i did i kid you not i was like don't give me no more money you know what i'm saying so that's what i did i kid you not i was like no i don't want no more money i'm not the next time somebody giving some money it's gonna be me to you there we go the next time that's inspiring bro for real yeah so i mean no cap there is no cap in my roms i'm letting y'all know that right now for real like i'm not lying. That's how I feel. We sit there in the house. If we got to go to another house, if we got to move somewhere,
Starting point is 00:29:10 we ain't going to have no money to move there first. But I mean now, it's different. Let's go get into anime a little bit. I don't watch anime. I've watched the first three seasons of Hunter x Hunter, and it's tough. It's really good. But in your Anime videos you make it to where people like me the casual not even casual fan
Starting point is 00:29:31 But somebody who is barely into it or maybe not even into it can it like enjoy it is that? Conscious he's like it looks kind of make it to where everybody can enjoy it Are you just like if they get it they get it they don't they don't I just feel like it depends on I guess yeah, you what i'm saying like um some videos i'd be like let's get let's make it to where everybody get it i mean i guess the the format is to try to make it to where everybody can yeah because if not then i guess there's no point but sometimes i do just attack a certain fan base like naruto if i make a naruto video and it's naruto in the title i'm mostly talking to naruto fans but i feel like um with the comedy in there, everybody can relate to it.
Starting point is 00:30:08 You might not know Naruto and you might not know what's going on in anime in general, but I kind of put it to where you can see, even if you watch any show. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, if anime took place in the Hood video, that was before I even knew any anime characters and I was in there dying. The Death Note stuff, I was in there dying like the Death Note stuff yeah I was in there and it's like a concept that's like kind of easy to get Death Note you know what I'm saying like somebody writes a name in a book and you die yeah so I feel
Starting point is 00:30:33 like I mean you probably heard of Death Note you heard of Death Note before that no you never even heard of it you put me on oh that's crazy well I'm glad I could do that because I love like people watching anime that's crazy a lot of people actually say that we put them on anime. Yeah. Like, RDC. They be like, bro, I started watching anime because of y'all. And I be like, that's probably the best compliment I can hear. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:30:52 Because I really love... I want people to watch anime, because I feel like they got really great stories. Right. They inspire me. Anime inspires me heavy. It's no... I'm not kidding. It's heavy and inspiring.
Starting point is 00:31:02 But, yeah. I mean, I don't try to make it to where everybody can every time but i do self-conscious subconsciously i feel like so and i know a lot of your fans are watching right now and they'd kill me if i didn't give you some anime based questions but since i don't watch anime i went to the internet and i looked up top anime questions to ask an anime fanatic. So let's hold on Let me get the vibe right real quick. You know, I'm throwing on the headband I think it's backwards though. Oh There it is that's not that's Sasuke
Starting point is 00:31:40 Itachi Yeah, well you were in the leaf Village, but then you left it. Is that where the slash is there? Yeah. Oh, man, let me get this right. There we go. You ready? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:50 All right, so I'm not going to be able to respond to any of these, but they will. Okay. So you're going to have to give me some explanation to your answers, all right? Yeah. All right. Which dangerous and depressing world would you rather live in, Attack on Titan or Evangelion? Evangelion. Evangelion. Right? and depressing world would you rather live in attack on titan or evangeline even evan even right i mean first of all i didn't watch the evangelion but i definitely would probably pick that world over attack on titan because they wilding in attack on titan right like attack on
Starting point is 00:32:15 titan if you're not the main cast you're done so i mean i don't know if you remain cast you done the main character died in the first five episodes. That's not a spoiler. Just watch it. You'll see why that's not a spoiler. After you watch it, you'll be like, he spoiled me. Then you watch it and be like, oh, that's crazy. So watch Attack on Titan. But no, I'm not living in Attack on Titan.
Starting point is 00:32:37 So Evangelion. All right. Could you ever think of a circumstance where you would ever use a death note? No. I would never in my life use a death note. The dude who used that though used it to make the world better he got himself in too many situations if you use death note you know what i'm saying you see a death god literally okay for the rest of your life you see a death god and depending on like what parts of the death note you use like you're gonna you're ruining your life like if you write somebody a name down you really become a criminal at the same time even if you are killing bad
Starting point is 00:33:08 people you still become a criminal you know what i'm saying and like in that world in particular there's a smart ass person there's a smart ass person trying to um foil him for his plans and i don't want to go against that smart person so it's like no I probably wouldn't use a death note unless it was like somebody ran up in the house and I don't know I need to use it yeah I gotta hurry up and be like oh snap ah shimmy got me eyes get his name be like oh that's all it's all um what anime slash manga or manga do you think deserves more credit fullman alchemist brotherhood why is that because fullman alchemist brotherhood why is that because fullman alchemist brotherhood is deep it is the story is deep people watch it first 10
Starting point is 00:33:49 episodes it look like it's playful and it don't look like you got a deep storyline literally every villain is named after a sin number one and they just watch it bro like it is deep like it has something to do with like god it has something to do with Bible. But it's very, very... It's in the background. You have to watch it and pay attention and be like, wow, that really all connects perfectly. So I think Full Malcolm's Brotherhood. That's my most number one underrated anime. If you had to live with only reading manga or only watching anime, what would you choose?
Starting point is 00:34:23 Oh, watching anime, for sure. Watching anime. Why is that? I just like to see it in video form. You know what would you choose? Oh, watching anime, for sure. Watching anime. Why is that? I just like to see it in video form. You know what I'm saying? I was going to ask this question last, but dub or sub? Oh, sub, but I am not disrespecting no dubs. I know I have a bad reputation on that.
Starting point is 00:34:40 It'd be like, Mark hates dub. Some people be on my console, you lame talking down on people who watch dub. I'd be like, bro, I'm not even bro, he, people, some people be on my console, you lame talking down on people who watch dub. I'd be like, bro, I'm not even talking down on nobody who watch dub. Like, I'm done. I used to watch dub all the time. Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, the first part, all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:34:53 I just like sub now because the episodes come out quicker in sub. Okay. Usually, most of the time. And I don't know. I just like, I like it to watch it in the original language as it's supposed to be. I don't know. Am I asked for, when I watch Hunter x Hunter, I did dub and sub? Nah, you can watch, you can watch, in the original language. It's supposed to be that. I don't know. Am I asked for when I watch Hunter x Hunter, how you did dub and sub?
Starting point is 00:35:07 Nah, you can watch shows as dub, bro. Dub is getting better for a lot of shows. I feel like there was some years, like a five-year period, where they were not trying on dub. You would watch dub, and I'd be like, trash. I feel nothing from this episode.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Then I'd watch it in sub, and I'd be like, amazing. A-plus performance, give him a clap. You know what I'm saying? But like, I don't know. Like in that five years, I promise you, they were not trying. But now I feel like they're trying again. I think anime is getting better.
Starting point is 00:35:32 My Hero dub is pretty good. There's a lot of dubs that's good to me now. Like I don't think 100% of dub is bad too. No, I mean, I'm not one to answer that, but it satisfied me. I got it. Yeah, I feel you. And that's the thing. If you come in and just watching anime,
Starting point is 00:35:45 you don't know the difference between dub and sub. Until you get deeper in, then you'll be like, oh, maybe there is a difference. You know what I'm saying? I guess it's like you're playing basketball. You're just going to do a layup. You ain't going to try no gyro. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:35:56 You're just going to do a layup. But when you get deeper in basketball, I know you might try gyro. You might try a different type of layup. So I think that's what it is for anime. Yeah, I got it. I feel that. What's your favorite anime opening um opening um that's crazy i did not expect this
Starting point is 00:36:11 question probably i never said this they really gonna crucify me yes um get them uh either Get him. Either Brotherhood opening two or Naruto Shippuden opening. I don't know, man. I'd say Bleach opening seven after Dark. I really like that one. State your case because they're going to kill you. I feel like Bleach has the best opening music. I'm not going to lie. Naruto do too.
Starting point is 00:36:44 I don't know If you say either one I'll take it But Naruto Naruto got so many of my favorites They had the most of my favorites But those two are just my favorites So I guess
Starting point is 00:36:53 Full Malcolm's Brotherhood opening two And Bleach I can't think of the other ones for now One Piece opening 14 Fight Together That is my jam for real But yeah
Starting point is 00:37:03 I think this This next one has to do with Naruto Would you rather use fight together that's that's that is my gem for real for real but yeah i think this uh this next one has to do with um naruto would you rather use the dara jutsu or hidon jutsu is that naruto yeah yeah no that's not something about jutsu and you know i would never probably use hedons just because he you got to get somebody blood and stab yourself like so What? So, I mean, no, not that one. I would use.Rs. It's like art. Like, he makes art, but it blows up.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Every one of his arts blow up. Like, it's crazy bombs, too. It's like nuclear-powered. Like, as much power as an atomic bomb on some of them. So, I would use.Rs. And the last one is, what anime was the biggest letdown for you? You're trying to get me crucified out here, man. Biggest letdown?
Starting point is 00:37:53 I think. I'm trying to give a PG answer because y'all, that would be tripping, man. I feel like... I don't know. This is hard. Because probably this anime called Tenjo Tenje. Yep, that's a good answer. Because y'all don't even know what Tenjo Tenje is, do they?
Starting point is 00:38:18 But I was like, it was my first episode, they were boxing hard. Okay. Or second episode. One of the first few episodes, they was boxing hard. Then the rest of it, to me, it really wasn't boxing hard. But if you want me to pick an anime that everybody probably knows, I feel like Bleach towards the end let me down. Bleach was my favorite show for a whole minute.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Then they start playing around. All these fillers. I was like, what are y'all doing? And then the Fullbringer arc was all right. It was all right. But, like, I don't know. The show got canceled pretty much. Like, Bleach animated got canceled.
Starting point is 00:38:49 And I think that just let me down in general just because it got canceled. Like, I don't blame Bleach for it. Like, I mean, they could have did some things better. That's what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying? Well, there you go. That's your anime questions. So, y'all, don't kill me in the comments for not asking them.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Don't kill me either. Yeah. He was asking some very off-the the wall questions that came out of nowhere um going back to your career with your success you've been able to meet some top celebrities like big sean chris brown yeah damian luther what was the most memorable moment for meeting somebody like that memorable moment yeah from from one of those people I feel like the most memorable moment and I ain't even met him was like J. Cole
Starting point is 00:39:29 J. Cole said a sentence to me I am blessed you know what I'm saying like the fact that he messaged me and said something and I was like man appreciate it
Starting point is 00:39:41 and like I was just happy I'm still happy about it right now. J. Cole is my favorite artist, you know what I'm saying? Big Sean, meeting Big Sean in general. Like, Big Sean is one of my favorite artists, too. Like, to hear him talk about us on The Breakfast Club, to actually just running into him by accident at a convention, actually. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:58 At E3 was amazing. But those are two of my top two. Well, top three is I talked to Kendrick on FaceTime I never told nobody that but yes Kendrick FaceTimed me and what the hell did y'all talk about
Starting point is 00:40:15 how did the numbers get aligned tell me the whole story behind that Kendrick I don't like telling people these stories man but like nobody knows that. This is A plus interview, Tom. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I appreciate it. You're asking some good
Starting point is 00:40:31 questions. You know what I'm saying? That just gets me to these parts. Actually, I was talking to Kendrick on Twitter. You know what I'm saying? And I never even told him nobody this either. Kendrick gave me a video I did. And I did the video I did. I'm not going to tell y'all which one. But it is one of the rapper videos. And it went viral. It did go viral. And I did the video I did. I'm not going to tell y'all which one. But it is one of the rapper videos. And it went viral.
Starting point is 00:40:46 It did go viral. And he was like, hey, you should make a video on something like this. And I tweaked it just a little bit. And then we made the video and sent it back. And he was rolling and stuff. And then we posted it. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:40:59 But I didn't add him or nothing. Just because he didn't really want to add or nothing. He was just like chilling. Like Kendrick really ain't he about no like You know saying that's nuts. Yeah, that was crazy Uh, but I talked to him on FaceTime and he still messages Tom Tom Like he'll be like like the last time he messes was like three weeks ago He'd be like he'd be like, but that was funny laughing and laughing emojis and stuff like that
Starting point is 00:41:19 Damn cuz that's crazy cuz you don't hear from Kendrick like Kendrick is like, he puts out music and then he'll go back in his lair. No one knows him. That's the thing. So when he FaceTimed me, he FaceTimed me and he hasn't dropped no music or nothing. I might have had like 20 seconds. It was so quick and out of nowhere that I didn't record it or nothing. Even if I did record it, I probably wouldn't have showed y'all. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:41:43 I'm really not like, I really don't like to give my life out like that yeah for sure yeah um even though like a lot of people be like no you got to so this is this i'll be like no i don't want it to take over completely so is that why you don't do like vlogs because i know y'all have done vlogs before we all like but you're going like shopping for beds and stuff like yeah no that was the one vlog we did like i've never did a vlog again after that um just because like that was the first vlog and i feel like it came from a place like oh i seen people doing vlogs and was like oh we should vlog too um so like usually when that stuff comes up i suppress it like that's just attention needed so like no offense to the people do vlog i'm not saying you need attention i'm saying like for me
Starting point is 00:42:23 i feel like i don't want myself to get succumbed to wanting attention all the time. You know what I'm saying? So I just, I will, like, put out my videos and go about my day. I do feel like I should give more, because I used to give more of myself back in the day. Like, just, like, be able to turn on the camera and be like, oh, what's up, everybody?
Starting point is 00:42:41 I'm talking about this, this, this, this, this. You have the story time videos? Yeah, story time and stuff like that. that was more of me and i feel like i do need to get more because i i've even came back to where i don't do nothing but drop a skit and go and then disappear so i'm starting to post more stories on instagram starting to post like more just funny pictures that i feel like it's funny and um on youtube i am going to like post some more personal type of videos just because they do miss that. You know what I'm saying? But I feel like the Twitch streams, the ones where we're on there for six hours,
Starting point is 00:43:08 those are the ones where you really get how we act. You know what I'm saying? But everybody don't watch Twitch streams. Everybody don't even got Twitch. You might not even have Twitch on your phone probably. So it's like, I feel like for the three million people on our YouTube, we need to sometimes show
Starting point is 00:43:24 another side of us. But it's just not a lot. You know what I'm saying? Right. And if you could have, because you make a lot of NBA skits, and those, you know, personally, because, you know, basketball, those are my favorite. If you could have any NBA player to feature in one of your skits,
Starting point is 00:43:42 who would it be? And courtesy of the You Should Know podcast, I'm going to put this out out i want it to happen for you so yeah um who do i want in a skit that's crazy i mean i feel like my favorite player is kobe so i would want kobe in a skit to be honest with you even though i don't know how he would act in a skit like how would kobe act in a skit you know what how would Kobe act in a skit? You know what I'm saying? Now, Kobe, Kobe's got some personality.
Starting point is 00:44:07 No, he definitely has personality. He's got a rap song. You know what I'm saying? He was rapping with... I mean, he had a verse on a Brian McKnight song. I know. I'll be doing the research.
Starting point is 00:44:17 You know what I'm saying? But, like, he has a personality for sure. I feel like just, like, you know what I'm saying? Kobe or... Or, um... Kobe... Man, this is tough.
Starting point is 00:44:29 Because I wouldn't say like – I don't – maybe LeBron just because I made a locker room. You know what I'm saying? I would one time want LeBron to be in a locker room if I made another locker room. Because I don't plan on making another locker room. Sorry. But, I mean, I never plan on them. Every year, I don't plan on it it y'all force me to do it so I don't know right so whenever this comes out Kobe or LeBron coming up I go for it and it's
Starting point is 00:44:52 straight to the top of the top of the line man and um I know you said you want your own your own show you want a movie how close are you to that goal I don't know I don't know like I might be really close I might be really far that's what the entertainment business is you don't know if you're really close or really far you're just looking for a break and no comment on that yeah i just can't i can't i can't i don't like i don't like saying stuff before so the world don't take it away for sure for sure but it definitely is a possibility for those of your fans that you know yeah no it's definitely a possibility definitely right right and um so you know we're going to
Starting point is 00:45:42 close this out soon and with the success of RDC World 1, Supreme Dreams, everything just skyrocketing right now. A year from now. What's today's date? Anybody have the date? It's the 16th. December 16th, 2020. Where do you see RDC World 1 and Supreme Dreams? Where do I hope to be?
Starting point is 00:46:04 I hope to be on, on like just a streaming service i ain't gonna say which streaming service i hope to be on a streaming service and whether that is netflix uh hbo hbo or like disney plus any anyone anybody i'm open all suggestions no i don't have no bias towards one. So that's what I hope to be. Or in a future film. You know what I'm saying? I probably actually want to be on a service more than I want to be on
