Your Favorite Thing with Wells & Brandi - Dancing with the Stars Voting Conspiracy, Carrie & Kayaking in the Congo Basin

Episode Date: October 14, 2026

Brandi drops some BIG news and the YFTers are only finding out now because Wells has spent almost a YEAR cutting it out of the show! Wells’ favorite novelists are both on streaming, so he...s thrilled: John Steinbeck’s East of Eden and Stephen King’s Carrie. Which leads Brandi to remember the only movie she’s ever walked out of because it was too scary: Stephen King’s Dreamcatcher, the alien-that-makes-you-fart movie. Brandi brings a Dancing with the Stars update plus a voting conspiracy to the table while Wells pitches a documentary about a man whose wives keep dying. Then the voicemails roll in with drive-through anxiety and an update on Ash Dykes, the guy kayaking through the Congo Basin.FAVORITE THINGS:East of Eden (Netflix)Carrie (Prime Video)The Institute (MGM+)Lanterns (HBO Max)Traitors: New Blood (Peacock)The Widower: Till Death Do Us Part (Netflix)Theo of Golden (Book)The Calamity Club (Book)Thanks for tuning in, YFTers. Starting point is 00:00:00 This podcast is brought to you by Podcast Nation. Is it Beanie season or a bad hair day? Can it be both? It could. It is. It could be both. Listen, this is the first day. What is the temperature?
Starting point is 00:00:15 It's 62 degrees outside. Ooh, that is chilly for Los Angeles. Man, oh man. It's like a snow. We got rain happening. I don't know what that's about. Apparently. Apparently sometimes water.
Starting point is 00:00:30 falls out of the sky. I'm not sure if you've experienced this phenomenon. It's very rare. Now, has it rained really yet? Over here? No. But I do believe that most of like the coastline is absolutely destroyed in Los Angeles. Yikes. Three hurricanes at once, you know, all hitting us at the same time. Where in revelations are we at this point? We got to be close. We got to be circling the bull right now, right? For sure. We have to. It's finally, not a zillion degrees outside, which is nice. Yeah, nice for a day in L.A. And then everyone's ready to get back to it.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Yep. Started a new health journey, Brandy. You started a health journey. I know this sounds stupid, but I'm trying to go on a hike every single day. Okay. Like instead of a run or are you doing both? I'm kind of doing both, but I think I'm going to pull back on the amount of running I'm doing. One, I'm not sure if it's really great for my knees.
Starting point is 00:01:27 I don't know, by back. Fryman is right down the street from me. So I just walk up there and I walk all the way down. And then I walk back up and I walk all the way down. And that's like 8,000 steps. I'm trying to do 10,000 steps a day. Wait, do you walk from your house? No, I used to, in our old house,
Starting point is 00:01:47 our old house, I used to run there. And then I would run up. But now I drive over there. Do you want to know what's so annoying about this? Their parking lot? They are charging now there. I knew this. It's, fuck you, dude.
Starting point is 00:02:04 And also, it's hilarious because no one's parking there anymore. Where do you park? There's nowhere else to park. Down on the street. I'm like Laurel Terrace and stuff. Yeah, there's just not many options. But like, my thing is, aren't Californians paying enough taxes? No kidding.
Starting point is 00:02:21 What are we paying? Why are we paying for the lot at the park? I can't. How did you find out about this? I got to fry him in some. times when I'm in town. You do? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:30 I like Fryman. I do too. I got some new hiking shoes on Amazon because my... I was about to say if your knees are hurting you, you might need some new shoes. Well, I have my like running shoes, which are like real chunky, you know, so like I think it absorbs. What shoes do you run in? Hoka. I was about to say, hokas are supposed to be at the its shoe.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Yeah, but they keep on, they're black and if I take them up on the trail, they get very dirty. I don't like that. So I got some running, or I got some hiking shoes. So I'm going to try that a little bit later. It gives me an opportunity to listen to my book in more peace and quiet. When I'm running, I tend to like not focus so much. And then to, you know, be out in nature, you know, so I've, ever since I got back from dealing with my dad, I've been on a hike every single day. I haven't missed. That's a, that's a week and a half. Yeah. Pretty good though, right? That's impressive. Yeah. I love that for you. I'm hoping it does things to my body too. I'd, you know, tighten it up. Tighten. Tighten some things up. Yeah, just lose a couple pounds,
Starting point is 00:03:35 you know, some LBs. Okay. Yeah, sure. I mean, it's pretty steep incline for the first 10 minutes of the hike. Yeah, the beginning of it's tough and then it's not that tough. And then it's not, yeah. No. And then it's nice. Yeah, and some leisurely stroll up there. I like when you crest and come down, that's my favorite part of that. It is nice. Yeah. You know, there's some like, you can go off the beaten path and there's some side trails. I saw that actually last time I was there and I didn't have the guts to go attempt it, but I think today might be the day. Yeah. Just, you know, just pick one. See where it takes yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, what's going on with you? Oh, just been home, been, you know, the hurricane hit here. There was one that hit Florida, the Florida coast. They acted like we were going to get an
Starting point is 00:04:21 insane amount of rain, literally making post about how the power was going to go out and people, people needed to prepare. We barely got any rain. Like it was an absolute joke. But, um, so I thought I was going to have this like, like, rainy, horrible weekend. So I committed to painting. And it didn't really rain, but I did paint. So I've been painting all weekend. And this morning was dealing with, uh, people came over to template for my stone countertops in my primary bathroom, which was exciting. My vanities got installed over the weekend. Yeah. So just like doing house things. really. Nice. Are you feeling like you're out of the weeds a little bit with all this remodel?
Starting point is 00:05:02 No. No. No. There's a couple, there's just like a couple biggie things that are still. So I think I talked about how California faucets royally fucked us over and we're waiting on one bathroom faucet still. Like they sent the, they sent, you know, it's the primary. So there's two sinks. So they're matching faucets. They sent the one months ago. And we're like, oh, we're having a company-wide problem. And you're, second one, you know, TBD on the second one. And we still don't have it. So that's holding up all of the plumbing. And then Matthew is really dragging his feet on the Roman clay. He's supposed to be Roman claying so many rooms in the house. And it's, it's slow going. Why is he taking his sweet ass time with the Roman clay?
Starting point is 00:05:48 Well, I think because he fucking hates it. But like, he signed up for it, you know? I don't like painting, but I'm doing my job. Damn. Roman clay. Does it look good? It looks so good. You're going to have a housewarming party? Well, my plan was to have one over like a holiday housewarming party, you know, like in December.
Starting point is 00:06:07 I just don't know if that's going to happen. We have to paint all these walls. Yeah. We'll see. But I thought a holiday party sounded nice because the tree is going to look so good, like up against all the windows and like putting lights on the other. I guess it's just going to look so good. I would love to have a little Christmas party and I love playing Dirty Santa. What's the best gift you've ever given for Dirty Santa?
Starting point is 00:06:30 Given? Or received? Received. I got a squatty potty one year. That's just a normal gift. I know, but it was a great one. Was it the plastic one or was like a nice one with like a glass or something? That was plastic.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Because this was like, we always do like cheapo, you know? It's just to be like, I don't know, like $30 or under or something. Like maybe some years we do like 50 and under. I'm not really sure. but it's never like crazy, expensive gifts. You know, the whole point is for it to just be like cheap and fun. But I guess someone thought because it's something you shit with that it was dirty, but I enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Do you still use it? Yeah. Yeah. All right. Sure do. Good to know, I guess. I don't know. Yep.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Yep. What are you going to be for Halloween? I don't know. I don't have any plans. I'm old. Yeah. I just, I don't know. Are you going to do anything?
Starting point is 00:07:23 I got a couple parties I've been invited to, you know. Oh. Big party guy. Okay. So yeah, I'm going to go to my brother's house and watch my nephew and go maybe trick-tree with my nephew. And then I think we're going to go to my buddy Evans party. And one of my best buds, Trevor Einhorn. His wife's a dancer who's on tour with the weekend right now.
Starting point is 00:07:45 So he is a widower just like I am. So we might do a couple's. Oh, my God. We might go together. We were thinking, we were thinking Wayne and Garth. That's a good one. I feel like that's doable, you know?
Starting point is 00:08:00 It's doable? Yeah. So. Yep. Is Sarah going to be so jelly? I don't know. I actually haven't broached this topic with her. I'm sure she's not going to be pleased with me.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Definitely not. Wait, when do you go see her? Manana. Oh, wow. Yeah. I got a pack today. Pack your beanies.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I bet it's getting cold there. Yeah, let's look at the weather in London. 65's the high when I get there. 47's the low. and then 68 on Thursday. 58 is the high on Friday, 57 on Saturday, 7 on Sunday. That's when I leave, I think. Okay. So it's getting, you'll get like a little, that you're getting the tail end of their summer, it seems. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:38 I'd pack some beanie. Oh, don't you worry. I got, I'm going to look so stylish over there. Okay, well, should we start the show? Yeah, I think it's you. Bros and hose. You're listening to your favorite thing podcast with. Well, Brandy.

Starting point is 00:13:02 I was playing some cornhole on some Schedule 35. Couldn't miss. I could not miss a single shot. Since then, I've been, I've microdosed on heavy days to find clarity and taken recreational doses when I need to reset and feel humid against. Schedule 35 doses every product precisely. Have you finished East of Eden?
Starting point is 00:13:42 I did last night. I still have one episode left, but I have thoughts. I have more thoughts. Okay. So I saw this interview with Florence Pugh where she is talking about the character of Kate or Kathy or whatever. And she says something to the effect of like, if a woman is raped,
Starting point is 00:14:01 of course she's going to like, it's going to affect her and she'll act a certain way. Something to that effect, right? And then I've also seen the clip where she said she didn't read the source material. She just read the script. And what frustrates me about that is that in the book. So I commented,
Starting point is 00:14:15 I was like, tell me you, tell me you didn't read the book without telling me you didn't read the book. Kate never gets raped in the book. In the book, she accuses like these three other boys of abusing her, but that's not what happens and then gets them in trouble. So that frustrates me because it's like you've created this whole different dialogue of this thing, which was not true. She was just like evil to begin with. So that kind of frustrates me. The other thing that kind of frustrates me. Well, I guess you need to watch maybe the last episode.
Starting point is 00:14:43 but the show does spin that narrative. Like, even in one of the earlier episodes, I remember, they don't spell it out for you, but they show it's a scene of young Kathy Kate, like when she's very young, like going into the woods. Yeah. Like following somebody into the woods or something, and it's implied that that's when she was raped.
Starting point is 00:15:04 So they do kind of implement that in the story in the show. Well, that didn't happen in the book. I know, but I'm just saying, I don't think that's a Florence Pute. decision. I think that's whoever wrote the episodes, right? Like, changing that maybe. My only other annoyances
Starting point is 00:15:21 is that the two, like, two greatest characters in that book are Samuel Hamilton and Lee. And I feel like we didn't get any of Hamilton. I know. And he's such an amazing character. He also is the embodiment of Steinbeck's like lineage.
Starting point is 00:15:36 And then Lee, who's just like, I don't know, this beacon of light of truth and knowledge in the book. Like, you don't get a whole lot of him. He's kind of like almost relegated to like wet nurse a little bit, which kind of annoys me because he's so much more impactful than that because Adam is such a fucking bitch the entire time. Anyways, I will say it's beautiful. The last two episodes that I watched last night, like Lee is in it quite a bit. Like he's got a pretty big role in both.
Starting point is 00:16:08 but I can see how yeah he definitely is kind of given more of a role of like a nanny which is kind of weird. Yeah, but you finished it, you like it? Yeah, I liked it a lot. I mean, the last,
Starting point is 00:16:20 I would say the last two episodes were a bit slower than the rest but still very good. The last episode was great. The ending was great. The boys that play his sons or Kathy's sons, I guess.
Starting point is 00:16:35 We don't know who's the father really. Well, I think you, I think you do. We do. One's Adams and one's Charles's son. No, you think? Yeah, I think that Aaron is, because she was having sex with both of them,
Starting point is 00:16:50 and they were not in this. They were born at the same time. Yeah, but they weren't in the same. They even make a point of saying they were in different sex, in different placental sex. So I think the implication is that one is Charles. Is that, Can that happen in real life?
Starting point is 00:17:09 Can you look that up? It can. That's insane. Could you imagine? Could you imagine? By the way, this is something that's being Googled a lot because I just, I wrote can a woman. And the first thing is get pregnant by two men at the same time. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Yes, a woman can become pregnant by two different men at the same time through a rare medical event called a heteropaternal subverdication. So I probably said those words right. Okay, probably not. the guys that play the two sons, like the sons, they're incredible. I'm such a huge part of the very last episode, obviously. I felt like the series could have taken a turn and not been as good once it became more about them. I just, because I don't know, I think in the first couple episodes, like, I just really fell in love with the actors that played, you know, Adam and Charles and just all that. And so I was, like, bummed for that to go away. But the boys were really good. And I thought they did a really great job with the ending. So I'm anxious for you to watch. the last episode. Okay. As much as I'm, like, bitching about it, I loved it. Like, I love that that book is being celebrated.
Starting point is 00:18:13 I think the story is really great. I think that they did a good job of, like, it looks really pretty. Yeah, it does. And they filmed it in New Zealand. That's the one thing that does annoy me. It's because I just go film in Salinas and King City. Well, I saw an interview with one of the actors, I for which one, saying that everybody really wanted to shoot it in America,
Starting point is 00:18:34 since it's like a story about America, but that it was too difficult to find a place that looked like America looked back then with like no power lines and no, like that New Zealand, wherever they shot New Zealand, looked more, I guess, like undeveloped,
Starting point is 00:18:50 you know, and that's what they needed because that was the time. That's what it looked like back then in that time. What's funny is, is that so the house that they move into in Salinas, you know, it is like almost an exact replica of the Steinbeck house, which is a museum now in Salinas, like,
Starting point is 00:19:06 down to like the siding and stuff. I was looking at it. I was like, that is just the Steinbeck house. Anyway, it's very, very good. I like it a lot. Yeah, really good. The other thing that I like a lot,
Starting point is 00:19:19 I got very excited because my two favorite novelists have shows on streamers right now. And so obviously one is John Steinbeck. The other is Stephen King. Have you started Carrie yet? I haven't, but my friend Kirsten, who I can't believe watches the show, just told me I had to watch it.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Oh, it's so good. It's so good. Is it scary? No, not really. The thing about Stephen King is that, like, everyone thinks he's spooky, but really he's more about, like, superheroes. I find.
Starting point is 00:19:51 Well, some of his shit is very scary. For sure. What's the scariest thing that's, you've seen that's Stephen King? It? Okay. I don't know why. Maybe because I was just younger.
Starting point is 00:20:02 The fucking movie, be dream catcher. Did you ever see that? Yeah, that was about the alien that makes you fart. I don't know. I just know that I fucking hated it and it was very scary. Watch that again. I've read that recently. That's not that scary.
Starting point is 00:20:18 It's an alien entity that like takes over people's body and then they have terrible gas. Yeah, well, I don't know. All I know is it terrified me and I left it. It was like one of the, I think it's the only movie I've actually walked out of the theater. But I was very, what year did that come out? I mean, I was younger. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:34 I don't know. Anyway, that was my, like, I just, like, have, like, that was my first, I get, well, I wasn't my first Stephen King. But I just, I don't know, I just have that in my head that, like, I don't like Stephen King because of that. Yeah, Dreamcatcher. Friends on a camping trip discover that their town, their vacationing in is being plagued by an unusual fashion by parasitic aliens from outer space. Morgan Freeman. Jason Lee.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Anyways, Carrie is similar to, like, you know, the Shining Scary, but if you, like, read the book, the thing is, is that Danny has a superpower, right? Like, he can move things with his mind. He's got the shine or whatever. And so Carrie has the same thing. Like, she's telekinetic and all that kind of stuff. So, like, I don't know if I think it's spooky. I think that her powers are pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:21:25 And you also feel bad for her because, like, her mother's a crazy person. And she's, like, this homeschool kid. Anyways, it's a story that, like, like, like obviously takes place in like the 70s in Stephen King's world, but they've modernized it to now, you know? Totally. After her father's, love it.
Starting point is 00:21:40 Love it. After her father's sudden death, sheltered teenager Carrie White, raised by her overprotective mother, enters public high school where she faces a viral bullying scandal and discovers mysterious telekinetic powers. Carrie by Mike Flanagan, who does like haunting a hillhouse and all those fantastic.
Starting point is 00:22:01 scary movies. And then my buddy or our buddy, Alon Gale, is also, I think, a producer on this. And one of my favorite things that's happening. So did you ever watch the Institute or read the Institute? So that's another Stephen King book that they made into a show. And basically it's like, stranger things. It's like basically what Stranger Things is. But instead of 11 escaping, it's a bunch of these kids are stuck in this
Starting point is 00:22:29 Institute where they're using their mind and powers and stuff and the government's harnessing them. It's on MGM Plus, which MGM Plus right now is like ripping out some bangers. I think I got to pay for MGM Plus. But anyways, I think what's happening. So did you watch Doctor Sleep? No. Okay, another Stephen King one. So in Dr. Sleep, there's this like Coven called the Dreadnought.
Starting point is 00:22:52 And basically they suck people who have shine or like basically special powers. They suck their energy to like live forever. and in the Institute, they're always looking for these kids with the shine or whatever powers to bring them in to use them for government work. And there's a scene in here where someone's like, oh my God, it's got a huge shock. Like someone did something with like their powers around us. And it implies that they're going to, it looks like they're going to try to connect the carry world with the either the Institute world or the dreadnought world. And that's very fun because all of a sudden you're going into something that does. doesn't exist yet, but can, like, live on, you know?
Starting point is 00:23:32 Mm-hmm. The girl that plays Carrie is fantastic. Summer Howl, the bully is this girl named Allison Thornton. She's the actress. She's so good at being the bully. And then Matthew Lillard, you know him from, like, scream. He's the principal. He's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Anyways, I, it's great. Like, it's that story of, like, this girl getting bullied, but it's, like, happening now. And, like, basically, she gets her period and she doesn't know she's, she, what's happening with her body because she's been so sheltered. So she like, it happens at like PE. So like they throw her in the showers and, you know, they're like dousing with her water and there's blood everywhere, right? And someone films it and then like makes a fake Instagram account.
Starting point is 00:24:13 And then it starts like virtually bullying her, which is like something that I'm sure that happens probably all the time. I mean, I haven't finished it yet. But you know what happens to Kerry is Carrie fucking at prom just absolutely to fucking murder everybody with her powers. And who's to say if they don't deserve it? Anyways, I really like, I know that this seems like something for kids, and it is, I guess, but it's so good. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Really well done. Big Stephen King guy. Big Stephen King guy. I know. Guy does just makes bangers. Yeah. All right. You guys, I know it sounds insane, but the holidays are upon us.
Starting point is 00:24:51 And holidays mean gift season. And if you're like me and not great at gifts and need a little extra help, you'll have to check out Zazel. I've talked about Zazel before. It truly is just my favorite place to shop for gifts. It is a custom marketplace where you can basically take any product. I'm talking a mug, a tote bag, a phone case, anything, and you can make it custom and make it mean something. You can browse millions of designs or you can even start from scratch and build something completely your own if you're into that. And everything is made on demand.

And they were so freaking cute that I had to go and get myself some.
Starting point is 00:25:46 I think we're going to post the image of it this week on the Instagram, but I got one for all the dogs. It was just so easy to make. They're so cute. I love them. Starting point is 00:26:09 amazing. Zazzle.com. Well, I tried to start the new Netflix show that Judge Hartnets in. I think it's called Below. Below. I watched some of it too. Okay. Like, is it just me or is it really hard to stay engaged? Like I watched the entire first episode. I have no idea what I watched like a zero idea yeah is it a whale are we is it a whale that's coming for them i don't know what kind of under nova scotian sea animal is terrorizing these people i'm also just really fucking distracted by these quote unquote accents i a hundred percent agree with you like none of them sound real it's very distracting maybe that's what they sound like up in nova scotia but it's so weird Josh Hartnett doesn't sound like that.
Starting point is 00:26:58 So his is fakey as fuck. And it's not real. And it's not real. And we know that. And to me, like, everybody's trying to do this like Irish mixed with Northerner. Yeah. Irish and Canada. And I just, is that who lives there? Is the Irish?
Starting point is 00:27:12 Like, I'm so confused. I am right there with you. And it's so weird that like I was having a hard time with it so much so that I put the subtitles on to be like, what are they saying? Like, is this, yeah, is this Gaelic we're listening to? I don't know. I don't like it. When a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote town, a fisherman must fight to protect his family,
Starting point is 00:27:33 his community, and his way of life below, starring Josh Hardinette, McKenzie Davis, and Charlie Heaton. Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things. And I love McKenzie Davis. I do too. But her accent and this is, oh, I just think of one. Hers is the least offensive, if I'm being one of us. Yeah, I know, but it's just all a lot.
Starting point is 00:27:55 I don't really know. What I'm watching, I'm also like, do people harvest icebergs for vodka? Is that a thing? Like, are we doing that? I have no idea. And like, is there a machine that's like the parts per million in this water is good? You know, like, everything about it, I'm like, I don't know if I believe any of this stuff. I know.
Starting point is 00:28:14 It's very strange. Very strange. But what can you do? I don't know. I don't even know if I can try to watch the rest. Are you going to try? Yeah, because I've got a 11-hour flight and I'm probably going to rip through a bunch of stuff. You know?
Starting point is 00:28:28 Fair, yes, fair. Seems like the right thing to do. Speaking of something else that's just been so incredibly hard for me to stay with, and it's so sad, is the second season of Dark Matter. Oh, I've kind of fallen off on it. It is just not as good this season. Well, they've gone away from the end of the book, right? So, like, source material is out the window.
Starting point is 00:28:49 It's not great. I don't even know what the fuck episode I'm on, but it's to the point where there's just so many Jason that it's really hard to keep up with which fucking Jason is this. And I know they did the tattoo thing. So, and that helps because you're like, okay, that's O.G. Jason with the tattoo. But now we're onto this episode where two fucking Jasons have gone into a world
Starting point is 00:29:16 where their mother is still alive and they're like staying with her. And I just, I can't, I can't care. Like, I can't get into it. And I am so confused. It's just so weird. And he's like got a girlfriend. Like it's a whole other story. I'm like, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:29:32 I don't care about any of this. We need to go back to O.G. Jason and what's going on there? Or O.G., what's his friend's name that created the fucking shit that was in Westworld? I care about him. I care about that story. But we're like on to this whole new story. I just,
Starting point is 00:29:48 it's my favorite book of all time and they're really ruining it. That's your favorite book of all time. That's one of them, yeah. Oh, it is a good book. One of my favorite books of all time. Yeah. I'll jump back in because I have fallen off and like I said, I've got time. I finish something that I do love and I thought they did a great job with is lanterns. See, I just couldn't get into that one either.
Starting point is 00:30:10 I really ended up being into it. Okay. Kyle Chandler is phenomenal in it. It opens with him being dead and you're like, what the fuck? I thought he was starring in the show, but then he does. Like he's in every episode. I really liked the ending of it. I'm excited for like where this goes next
Starting point is 00:30:30 because like they can keep on going with this storyline forever. Anyways, yeah. Lanterns follows a new recruit, John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in American's heartland.
Starting point is 00:30:48 It's on HBO. Someone just turned to the TV on upstairs, but no one else is here. Dude, it's so weird. That happened to me today. I'm freaked. Dude. Can you hear it?
Starting point is 00:30:56 No. Okay. The same exact thing. I was downstairs eating or having coffee and then I was like, TV's on. Wasn't on. I might have to go turn it off because it's going to distract me. Okay, go for it. Even the dogs are put away.
Starting point is 00:31:10 This is so freaky. I'm very scared. Yeah. Freaky. Was there any ghosts up there? No. No. No ghost.
Starting point is 00:31:21 Freaky, freaky. You got anything else? Do I have anything else? I mean, dancing with the stars lore, which you know, you don't care about, which is fine. So the Hanson guy went down. That sucks. Oh, I know. And every, it's been a little bit controversial this season. There's been like some, some implied drama, I guess, with like the pros. I guess Taylor was paired up with Britt, who it was like, I don't, see, I just hear about all this on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:31:47 I don't really know anything. But apparently everyone's very upset because Brit never gets a quote unquote good partner and she finally got Taylor who was decent and they're just saying that they got sent home way too early and that there's just no way that Guillermo scores were so low that there's no way the votes are getting them ahead like everyone's just like really upset saying Brit always gets like the shit into the stick and then at the end when they got voted off when they roll the credits they always show the B-roll of like everybody on the floor talking and whatever and usually they're saying goodbye to whoever got sent home and Brit is like going off yeah just to one of the other like Danielle or
Starting point is 00:32:22 somebody about getting sent home. And yeah, it's just, it's been like really interesting. So there's that. I do think Taylor deserved to stick around a little bit longer. I think he was a better dancer than some of the others that are still there. But obviously, the show is not just about your dance scores. It's about your votes. And to be honest, like, I can't imagine Taylor having like crazy number of votes.
Starting point is 00:32:42 You know what I mean? Yeah. The people vote. Like, I don't vote. I watch the show and I don't vote. I think the people voting are young, like Jen Ziers that are voting for their TikTok people or whatever. or like older generation
Starting point is 00:32:54 like parents age maybe. Who is voting for Guillermo? Who is voting for Guillermo? I think the old people. No, they're not. Right? No. You don't think?
Starting point is 00:33:04 No. I think that's... I mean, I think ABC's just keeping them on there for cross-promotion. I think that's more realistic. But, you know, there's, was it rules and practices with these things? So like, hey, don't know. Are there, though?
Starting point is 00:33:17 Well, I'm policing that. Usually there's a lawyer on set making sure it's like very, fair, but I just... Really? It doesn't make any sense to me. I agree with you. I think it's kind of bullshit. Like, first of all, like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:33:28 I love Jimmy Kimmel, but like, how many people are even watching his show that are like, we got to vote for Guillermo, you know? Maybe if it was Jimmy Kimmel, maybe. But Guillermo's like, plays like a bit part on that. It doesn't make any sense to me. Me neither. And, and, you know, Whitney, who's his dance partner is very pregnant. And like, like, there's a lot of people there saying, like, poor Whitney, like, send her
Starting point is 00:33:50 Oh, I get them off of here. Like she's pregnant. She needs to go home. And then she's kind of coming out and being like, I'm good. I'm happy to be here. And she's like, I'm fine. And it's kind of like super sick to see her dance pregnant.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Like, it's just so bad. Dancing is hard in general. You're dancing in heels, which is hard anyway. And then like you're pregnant. I'm just really impressed with her. She's phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:34:11 But yeah, I think like, you know, it's just one of those things. Like I was upset last season because I thought Alex should have won the whole thing. Yeah. Instead of Robert Irwin, like Alex was better.
Starting point is 00:34:20 and but unfortunately this is not, this is the kind of show where like it doesn't matter really who's better. It's a popularity contest. Yeah. Right? I mean, that's what it is. Well,
Starting point is 00:34:30 you know who is so much better this week is Tyler Cameron. Oh, really? Is he doing good? Well, he wasn't and he came out and like, it just was so much better this past week and did a decent job. I mean, he's, he's, it's funny. Like,
Starting point is 00:34:42 I know Tyler, I've met him several times. And I know he used to be an athlete, but he doesn't give like, he doesn't look like, an athlete to me, like in person, but then watching him dance, he definitely dances, like, I feel like all the athletes kind of struggle with the same thing. Like, they're all, like, broad and bigger and bulky and, like, have a hard time with flexibility and different things. And
Starting point is 00:35:04 he definitely dances like an athlete, which I think hurts him when it comes to scores. But he's, like, really putting in some serious effort. And I think he's doing a great job. Well, that makes me happy for old Tyler Cameron. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if you're. caught up on Traders New Blood. I'm not. I need to watch it. It's so good. I got to say.
Starting point is 00:35:26 No, you say that. It's fantastic. I got to buckle in. Yeah, just jump on in. I feel like Matt will like that show too. Like, it's good for everyone. Anyways, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:36 I'm not going to go into like all the stuff because you can just go listen to my show. That's about that show. But anyways, yeah. Traders New Blood. Very good. It's about to, they had to do a murder in plain sight this week. And the.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Everyone caught on. They're like, what the fuck are you doing with that apple, but? Really? Oh, yeah, it's very fun.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Wow. I know. Nothing's getting by the normies. No, no, no. By the way, we've,
Starting point is 00:36:01 so we had on the show this guy, Xavier, who was like a professional athlete and he's now an analyst for like ESPN and we're like, wait,
Starting point is 00:36:09 hold on. We thought you were just like normal. A normie, dude. No, you're a total, there's someone that on this show
Starting point is 00:36:16 that's got two million followers on. It's like, come on, man. It's like, Uh, that's it. There's still, there's some bias here. I think it's a little, whatever.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Yeah. Yeah. The other thing I saw this documentary called the widower, have you heard about this? No. The widower till death do us part. A journalist and a detective uncover the truth about a killer whose charm mask a trail of failed marriages and suspicious deaths. So it's about this. this fucking guy who, his name's Thomas Randolph.
Starting point is 00:36:55 He's been married six times. Four of his wives have died. Every single one of them, he took out a big insurance policy on that. Like, it's like, I don't understand how this was even, like, and he keeps on, like, getting off. He got, he got, for one of these murders, he was being up for the death penalty. He gets out of it, counter sues the state wins all to come back to kill another person. What? All right.
Starting point is 00:37:32 What state's fucking up with this? Oh, it's all over the place. It's all over the place. It's all over the place. Whoa. But yeah. Our justice system, I swear. I know.
Starting point is 00:37:44 But you got to watch it. It's so fucked up. insane. Yeah. The widower till death do us part on Netflix. Death do I get some fucking money. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen, the second Sarah puts out a life insurance policy on me,
Starting point is 00:38:02 you know my days are numbered, dude. I was telling you earlier about how I've been going on these hikes a lot, right? Yeah. And it's helped me, I finished Theo of Golden, my audible book. It's one of my new favorite books ever. Like it's so amazing. Wow.
Starting point is 00:38:22 And great ending. Did not see that coming. And I should have seen that coming. Didn't see it coming. Wish I had seen it coming. I liked it. Do you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Well, I always say. I love it when I'm bamboozled by the end of a book. It's one of those when you get to it, you're like, oh, yeah. Like how it, it wasn't like I, I, I should. should have, to me, I'm like, I should have known this, right? I could not suggest Theo of Golden Moore to anybody out there. It's such a beautiful book. Great message.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I haven't read a book that good in a very, very long time. But I got on a new book called The Calamity Club. Okay. Have you heard about this? I have. It's a novel by Catherine Stockett setting Oxford, Mississippi, where I went to college. During 1933, during the Great Depression and waning days of prohibition, the premise, the story follows an unlikely sisterhood formed by three marginalized females navigating widespread poverty, social hypocrisy, and the fragile freedoms of the deep south. So the main characters are Bertie Calhoun, an outspoken, unmarried bookkeeper who travels to Oxford seeking financial help from her wealthy socialite sister, only to find her sister's life is built on a web of lies.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Then you have Meg LaFleur, who's an 11-year-old resident at the Lafayette County Orfin Asylum, who is abandoned on Christmas Eve and fights to keep her spirit unbound. And then you have Charlie, a resident down-in-our-luck woman, Meg's mother, who devises a bold, audacious plan for the women to take control of their lives, reclaiming their dignity, and fight back against social constraints. Reception, the novel became an instant New York Times bestseller upon release, praised by critics for balancing heavy historical realities, humor, warmth, and resilience.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Anyways, I'm, like, in the beginning of this one. And obviously, this sounds like a book probably for ladies and not for someone like me. It does. But I'm liking it. Okay. I really like the character of Meg, the orphan girl. She's got some spunk. She's, she's kind of fun.
Starting point is 00:40:35 She talks a lot of shit. And I will say this. This is like another one of those times when I think the audio books is better than the actual book because it's different. playing different characters and doing like Southern accents. So like it really kind of puts you into it. Yeah. Interesting. Which is the same thing to say about Theo of Golden because Theo is a Portuguese man.
Starting point is 00:40:55 And so the guy who does his voice is good at sounding like a Portuguese immigrant. Anyways. So yeah, I will keep you posted on the Clamity Club, even though it's probably for girls. I like it a lot. Well, we have a lot of girls to listen to this show. I feel like it's perfect, you know? Perfection. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:14 I'm flying a virgin. Have you ever flown virgin? Not in years. I didn't even really know they still existed. That used to be like the airline to fly international. I know, I know. You know, I'm not... I'm in Australia.
Starting point is 00:41:27 If you guys have any suggestions of where to go eat or hang out, I've never been to London. I haven't been since I was so young. Like I wouldn't even know. Like when I went to London going to... Fuck, what is it called? like circuit the circus something circus you know what I'm talking about. Piccadilly Square. Piccadilly Circus.
Starting point is 00:41:50 I don't know. Piccadilly Circus. Okay. I don't know. I've never been there. That's the area. Like when I went to London, granted this was fucking 15 years ago, Piccadilly Circus, that's where like the best shopping was and the good restaurants.
Starting point is 00:42:04 Yeah. See, famous public square and busy road junction in the west end of London. Piccadilly Lights. So yeah, like that was always the area we'd. go hang out and shop. Okay. But like I said, it's been a hot minute since I've been there. Well, any suggestions of restaurants or touristy place,
Starting point is 00:42:23 DM us on your favorite thing, Insta, because I'm currently creating a heat map. I asked Tyler Florence, my food network chef buddy, I was like, hey, man, I need all the wrecks. All right, that's all I got, dude. Okay. I mean, fuck, I don't have anything else either, but, yeah. What are you got coming up?
Starting point is 00:42:43 Coming up, though. Miley's Hollywood Bull shows are this weekend, so I'll be out in L.A. for that. I thought you said you weren't coming out for it. I'll be there for the second show. Okay. The second show. And unfortunately, your girl has to work on the night of the first show.
Starting point is 00:42:59 I have a private event in Las Vegas on Friday night. Get that money, honey. To do that. Got to pay these house bills. And then I'll be in L.A. to support Miley and see the Hollywood Bowl show. I'm so excited to see her performance. been so long. And I know she's working really hard putting together the show and it'll be fun
Starting point is 00:43:17 to hear the new music and stuff. So I'll be out in LA for that. I don't really have any more shows booked for the rest of the year that aren't private, which is kind of crazy. Like I have a couple private gigs in November, but like nothing. No other like show shows, which is so wild. But I am hoping to have a New Year's Eve announcement for you guys soon. I'm working on some things for a new year's Eve gig. But yeah, it's crazy. Like, It feels like the year's just over. Yeah. I feel like in the entertainment industry,
Starting point is 00:43:48 once you kind of get to Halloween, it's kind of like, well, we're not going to do anything for the rest of the year. I know. It's wild, which, I mean, it's kind of nice,
Starting point is 00:43:55 but yeah, it's just weird. It's like 90 degrees and sunny today. It's supposed to be fall. Like, I don't know what's going on, you know? Yeah. Keep us posted on New Year's. That sounds like fun.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Yep. I love New Year's Eve. I love a fresh start, a blank page. We've got some voicemails. You want to hear some voicemails. Sure. I love to. Do what this says.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Good morning. You hear this? This is Teresa from Missouri. This again. I was just calling about a couple things. First of all, do you all get drive-through anxiety? When people start approaching my car and I don't see the menu and they want to know what I'm ordering, it drives me crazy. Yeah, I probably know it's on the menu, but I want to see it anyway with my own eyes.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Anyway, that just really stresses me out. Wanted to know if I was alone. The other thing is, have you all been watching the... double lives of suburban wives on TLC. It's about five or six women in the St. Louis area who are sex content creators, and they're making good money doing it. Two of them are school teachers that got fired, and two of them are still in hiding and haven't told their family. And one of those ladies who is in hiding, her father is a pastor. It's a really interesting show.
Starting point is 00:45:07 It kind of becomes almost a marketing show for this trade. and one lady even got thousands of dollars for acting like she was laying eggs. I couldn't do that for thousands of dollars. Anyway, check it out on TLC. Love you all. Hope you're doing great. Thanks. Bye.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Hilarious. This sounds like a show my sister would like to watch. Yes, I need to check this out. I want to play the beginning of this again because I'm confused at the ordering anxiety. What do you mean? So she's talking about like maybe you just don't frequent the drive-through, like some of us. but chick fillet is a great example okay somebody walks up to your car to take your fucking order before you get to the sign where you normally used to take the order they're trying to be more
Starting point is 00:45:50 efficient chick filet's busy i get it but the guy walks up they do this in and out too yeah the guy walks up and it's like all right what do you want but i can't fucking see the menu it's all the way up there and you're coming to me back here but you got i don't i want to see it and she's right like it's like i go here all the time like i could probably just order but there's something about just seeing them in you you know all right that's what she's talking about I guess I understand that, but with in and out, there's like really only four things you can, you can order. Even still, sometimes it's like, I just want to see it.
Starting point is 00:46:20 All right. Oh, by the way, I tried flipping the toilet seat cover around. Yeah. And it did help. Yeah. There were a couple times that it did get flushed because of the fucking auto flush that like is just automated. Like I would put put it down and then the auto flush would go on and it would and it literally like, like sucked it up right as I was sitting down and I, and then my bear ass was on the fucking
Starting point is 00:46:41 bear seat, which was. fun. But when the auto flush didn't screw me, flipping it around did help. Yeah. All right, good. I'm glad I'm helping you out here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, here we go. Here's another one. Hi, Wells and Brandy. This is Kelsey from Colorado. Hey, Kelsey.
Starting point is 00:46:56 I just wanted to know if you guys have heard or have seen this man named Ash all over TikTok who was going to be dropped in the middle of the Congo Basin. and he is kayaking on an inflatable kayak up to Sanghai River, over 400 miles. It's going to take him about 30 days all over my TikTok, and by the time you guys probably hear this, he'll probably already be out there.
Starting point is 00:47:27 It's one of my least favorite and favorite things going on right now is watching him prepare for this trip, but he's going to try to document it and put it out live for everybody to see. So I think that you guys should go down this rabbit hole because it's absolutely insane and need you all to follow along on his journey for the next 30 days. Thanks. Bye. Bye. All right, Kelsey, thank you. Ash. I got to look, I'm sure that we've talked now that I've said the word ash, and it's just going to now start showing up with my TikTok.
Starting point is 00:48:01 It totally will. That sounds pretty cool. Yeah, it does. By the way, if you want to call us up 858-630, 1856 is the number to leave us some DMs. We got some video sent to us. Here's this one's from Sam. So my brother and my sister married each other. What?
Starting point is 00:48:17 Yes, they are blood related. No, they are not full siblings. We have the same dad, but different moms. My dad was a polygmus man. I was born and raised in an incestuous polygmus cult here in Utah. My mom is his fifth wife. It was the daughter from, I think, the eighth wife and the son from the first wife. And the eighth wife is already my dad's half-sister.
Starting point is 00:48:31 So my sister was already a product of incest. And then she married my half-brother. Okay. So now that you guys are all caught up, dive way more. into this incestuous coal over in some other videos. But today, I wanted to share the picture that I took on their wedding day. So nobody was allowed to go to the wedding ceremony because they needed to minimize the amount of people witnessing a crime.
Starting point is 00:48:51 But we were allowed to go to the wedding reception. And there were a table of pictures of the bride and the groom, the brother and the sister, all displayed on the table. So cute, so sweet, so romantic. And there was one specific picture that when I saw it, I literally laughed out loud. and I took my phone or camera. Honestly, I don't even remember what it was at the time out, and I snapped a little pick of it,
Starting point is 00:49:14 and this is that picture. So as you can see, it's a little bit blurry. This was over a decade ago. I had to be super, super secrety about any pictures that I took in this colt because there was one moment where the leader of the order literally came up and snatched my phone out of my hand and went through every single picture on my phone.
Starting point is 00:49:31 That's a whole other story. So this is the picture I took. It's a little blurry and confusing, so let me explain it for you. Here's the bride and the groom. And on either side of them are their mothers and their dad. And if you pay close attention to this blurry ass fucking picture, that the father of the bride and the groom are the same person.
Starting point is 00:49:50 Yeah. So they literally just took the picture, photoshopped my dad on either side because he's the father of both bride and groom. It's a brother and a sister getting married to each other. So for more cult stories, go ahead and give me a follow. And all of them are disturbing and disgusting. Some of them are kind of funny. Dude, the Mormons are crazy, man
Starting point is 00:50:08 They're so crazy They're crazy That's funny that they're like Dude, we got to Photoshop him in here twice Because I was like They looked like the same guy, you know I just thought they were brothers Yeah
Starting point is 00:50:21 Hannah says I have a new show That Wells and Brandy should watch The new Wonka The Golden Ticket Competition show on Netflix It's very good And if you love the Willy Wonka movies It's a huge nostalgia All right
Starting point is 00:50:34 I got a golden Ticket. Aaron says Must watch fatherless No More on Apple or Prime. It's a documentary. Okay. Ray says, sorry for your Los Wells. Did I miss something? Brandy said her husband. Care to comment?
Starting point is 00:50:51 I mean, at this point, Matt and I are actually married, guys. We've been married for a year. Wait. Almost exactly a year. Yeah. This is how you're releasing this information. Yeah, why not.
Starting point is 00:51:08 Oh, fuck it. Fuck it. Yeah, we will be together on our anniversary. We're both just flying to a destination. But yeah, on Saturday, it'll actually be a year. We got married a year ago. Sorry, we didn't tell you guys. But I also feel like I wasn't very good at keeping that a secret.
Starting point is 00:51:24 No, you were, you, the amount of stuff I had to cut from this show when, because you misspoke is wild. Well, it appears that Kelsey just stopped cutting it because on Sorry, where Cyrus, people were like commenting constantly being like wait a second husband oh okay so it wasn't me calcy just got lazy all calcy got lazy i think yeah sorry all we had to do it for the good old green card that we still don't have and and for love and for love brandy no i know but like that was why we expedited that yeah okay and then the other reason we didn't want to announce it is because we do we would like to have some sort of wedding like a ceremony like even if it's small or like maybe a big party to celebrate. We want to do something. Wait, what did I go to then?
Starting point is 00:52:12 You went to our quote unquote engagement party. Oh, okay. Cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So, you know, my thoughts were, if I don't, if I like don't really tell people we got married now, then later when we want to celebrate, people will be more incentivized to actually celebrate. But I felt like the longer we waited, the more people would be like, you guys have been married. Why are we doing a wedding? Why are we doing a party? So that's why we kind of didn't say anything. But honestly, at this point, it's like, fuck it, everybody know, like, people know. Yeah. The people know.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Well, it was a beautiful engagement ceremony that I went to. Oh, thank you all a year ago. Yes. Abnobu. Almost a year ago. Very nice. I know. It was nice.
Starting point is 00:52:50 But, you know, I think like Matt's mom would really like to come. Yeah. Celebrate with us and stuff. And so, like, we will do something else, even if it's just a party at some point, I think. But right now we're focused on getting his green card, which is taking forever. Why isn't he just a citizen now? No. No, no, no. You're not a citizen until you have to get the green card and then you have to have the green card for a while. And then you have to go take a citizenship test.
Starting point is 00:53:14 Yeah, yeah, yeah. After you've been here. It's citizenship takes forever. But all we want a green card so that he can travel and work. Like it's not. And it's taken fucking forever. So if any wife, Tiers out there, know anybody in Homeland Security that can expedite our green card, let us know. That'd be helpful. Yeah, we're just waiting on that. Yeah. Remember last week we were talking about Jacob's ladder. Yes. Which was piercings on the penis. Well, yes. How could I forget? Alex said, so along the lines of Jacob's ladder, there's also the Prince Albert. And when I tell you that I found a tackle block full of such jewelry while cleaning my late father's house, well, I wouldn't make that up. He also did not have a will, but ain't no one fighting over that jewelry. Oh, my God. Oh, man. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:54:05 S. Dizzle says, well is your theory on all. Anya Taylor Joy is amazing, especially because you've met her. And honestly, I see it. Please never stop this podcast. Okay. It's funny. I've met her too. And Matt was with me.
Starting point is 00:54:16 And when he saw that clip on Instagram, he was like, dude, Wells is right. Yeah. I think I can. He was like, when we met her, I was thinking it. Yeah. Not like, not to say, she's so lovely. Like, I mean, you guys hang out with her. She's so nice and so sweet and so lovely.
Starting point is 00:54:36 But, yes. If she's not an alien, she's the closest thing, I think I've seen to an alien. Yeah. She's the only one where I was like, I could, I can see it. Like if she pulled me aside and was like, hey, by the way, we're going to Alpha Centauri tomorrow. I'll be like, yeah, I believe that. Yeah. Matt and I saw some crazy drones the other night. So those are called UFOs.
Starting point is 00:54:59 And they're coming. They looked like the drones that were cruising around New Jersey years ago that nobody, that everyone just like let go. it looked like those like they were gigantic and there was three of them just like sit it it was the weirdest shit could you hear them were they going like drones do i couldn't hear i couldn't hear them no we were in the car though but what color lights i don't really know actually because you know if if it's um like an airplane or anything that has to do with the f a f aaaa they have to be red and green lights i know yeah i didn't see that see that's the thing that's why i'm like telling you man we're about they're about to they're about to tell us all about it and
Starting point is 00:55:35 Anya Taylor, Joey, is going to be the one who, like, ushers in all the information. I think so, too. Yeah. I love it. Can't wait. Yeah. All right. Well, I want to get out of here?
Starting point is 00:55:44 Yeah. See you later. See ya. Bye. Bye. Misses Matt's out. No. Not taking that?
Starting point is 00:55:51 We're not going that far yet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't worry. Sarah's not Adams, so. No. No, I didn't think so. Yeah. Highland and Cyrus have a little bit more cachet than
Starting point is 00:56:05 South and Adams do. So just a little bit. All right. See you later. See you. Bye.
