Starting point is 00:00:00 This podcast is brought to you by Podcast Nation. Oh, how's everyone doing? How we live it. We alive? That's good. Me, surviving. A lot of things are happening in my life. I'm fostering a dog right now.
Starting point is 00:00:16 We'll talk more about it in a little bit. Her name is Maya. She does not know that name. That's not her name. Poor thing has been abused. And it's a hard thing to, I don't know if it's a hard thing. It's pretty easy to foster a dog. What's hard is that, like, you realize that someone, like, hurt an animal.
Starting point is 00:00:39 You know, like, you're pained in the grief of what this poor little thing had to deal with. I love this dog. She's so sweet. And I really badly want to adopt this dog. But I can't because, one, my wife was like, if we're any other dog, I want to be there for the beginning of it, which I understand that. I told her, I was like, if you were going to be on Broadway for a long time this year,
Starting point is 00:01:06 I'm really lonely in the house, and I would like to have, like, a dog. And maybe the idea is that I just foster dogs, so I don't feel so lonely. Does that make sense? The other thing is, is that we have, we already have a dog named Boo, who is in New York with Sarah,
Starting point is 00:01:23 who, you know, isn't maybe every other dog's cup of tea. And, like, that needs to be something You know, like that works because obviously it booze our dog and we like, whatever she wants goes. I'm living in this world where I have this poor dog who is so skittish, but like so lovely. And all I want for her to do is to find her home. But I'll tell you what, I'll tell you guys, I'll put you guys on a little secret. My brother and I went and played golf today. And then when I came home, he was like, well, I want to meet the dog.
Starting point is 00:01:55 And I was like, come over. Come over. And my brother is married with a kid. And their dog passed. And he was like, well, I want to come over. See the dog? And I was like, yeah, come on over. Anyways, so we walk in.
Starting point is 00:02:05 I got in first. I let the dog out. And, you know, I got to say, hello, Maya. How are you doing? You didn't go party? What, all that kind of stuff. And then my brother came in and this dog,
Starting point is 00:02:19 as skittish as she is, she went straight to him. And it was snuggling up. And I was like, well, this is your dog. I mean, this dog never done this for me. And I've been the one that's fostering. Super sweet. What ended up happening was he was hanging out here watching some football,
Starting point is 00:02:34 and then he was like, okay, I'm going to go home because I had to record this show. And I was like, take the dog. Why don't you take the dog? Meet the family. Anyway, so the dog is over with the family, and I'm pretty sure. There's no way that this family doesn't adopt this dog. So anyways, if you come across someone who's mean to animals, dude, let's get rid of those people.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Let's get them out of here. You know, this country, we're trying to get rid of people who aren't from this country. How about we do this? If you're mean to animals, you have to leave the country. You got to go somewhere else. That's my rule. Anyways, what do you guys think? Should we call the Brandi?
Starting point is 00:03:21 It's time to call her a bit is time. Let's go. Was it? I just washed my hair for you guys. Oh my God. Even though they can't see me, but you can, Wells. How often do you wash your hair? Is it, well, let me guess.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Okay. All right, you've got pretty fine hair, which means it probably takes a while to get greasy. I'm going to say you wash your hair three times a week. I think it's probably more than that, much to my sadness. Okay. O contrary, fine hair gets greasy. Faster.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Oh, okay. What did I say? You said it would be slower to get greasy because it was fine, but it would, it's actually faster. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like it's greasy in like two hours, unfortunately. That doesn't stop me from going places with greasy hair, though. Let me tell you.
Starting point is 00:04:12 There's nothing wrong with greasy hair. I mean, it's not cute, but I just don't give a fuck. And it's really not, it's not great to wash your hair every day. It's not good for it. It's not, it's actually, I've been reading that it's not great to shower every day. Did you know that well? It's not great to use soap every day. every day is what I've heard.
Starting point is 00:04:29 And hot water on your skin is not great for you every day. But I think it's okay to rinse off. I rinse off. I mean, it's fine, but they do say like hot water daily, dries out your skin, dries out your hair. Like it's not great. That showering less is actually better. And, you know, I'm just going to use that when Matt tells me I'm a grub
Starting point is 00:04:51 because I don't like to shower every day if I don't have to. But if I go to the barn where I do any sort of exercise, I obviously shower, but I'm definitely not like a big shower girl. Like there are some girls, like my best friend Kirsten, she showers like three times a day, which is fucking crazy and overkill. Talk about dry skin. Oh my gosh. But anyway, I frequently have greasy hair, especially on this show, because I'm like,
Starting point is 00:05:18 it's just you guys. But, you know, there's something to be said for presentation and just, you know, pulling it together and it's still a new. year, even though we talked about it last week. And I'm just, you know, trying to start things off on a good foot here. My brother does this. And I think a lot of people actually out there do this as well. He will take a shower every time he takes a poop. Oh my God. That's Kirsten. Because he feels he's like, I'm dirty now. I have to, I have to go shower. What about wet wipes? What about a bidet? What about a bidet? I mean, that's what that whole thing's for. It just cleans off your
Starting point is 00:05:58 What are we doing here? You don't even do a full shower. No, that's crazy. You're crazy, not us. I agree. I was talking to the YF2 years earlier. You know, I've been fostering a dog, right? Are you sure you can't keep her?
Starting point is 00:06:15 Yes, I am. And so I was telling them why after two years this. So there's a couple reasons why. One, Sarah was like, you don't get to adopt a dog without me. I want to be there for like the beginning of it, which is totally underst. Chanable. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:29 We're a team. Sure. We agreed to be a team. And then all of a sudden I'm doing a thing that's like not part of the team. Like I understand it. Because I like sent something to my like family text chain where I was like, I'm not allowed to do it. And she was like, don't maybe be the bad guy here.
Starting point is 00:06:45 If it was the other way around, you'd be like, I want to meet the dog. And I'm like, you're 100% right. I would want to be a part of it. Yeah. That's fair. The other thing is, is that boo, our dog, doesn't do great. with like every dog. Girl and girls tough too.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Yeah. Boo being in New York and this dog being here and then me adopting that dog and then boo coming back and being like what the F is happening might not be the greatest thing. Right? I have to defend my wife and I have to defend myself of being like I can't adopt this dog as much as I want to. Oh my God. Brandy. Okay. This poor dog has been abused.
Starting point is 00:07:27 No. And I know. And I was just telling the Y of tears. Ever you come across a dog like this, you're like, I can't imagine someone was rude. It was mean to you. Like it doesn't make any sense. This poor dog, she's got three legs. Her name's Maya. But I don't think that's her name.
Starting point is 00:07:46 She doesn't respond to it. Yeah. I'm sure the shelter like gave it to her. Yeah. So she is, I think she's a blue tick hound. They found her in Utah. I think she was a hunting dog. I think she got hit by a car.
Starting point is 00:07:58 I think her leg got broken. I think they cut off her leg. I think the owner who was a hunter was like, I can't use this dog for hunting anymore. I think he had one litter with her. And then I think he sent her out. That's so fucking sad. This is my theory.
Starting point is 00:08:15 I don't know what's going on. But she's the sweetest little thing in the world. All she wants to do is like kind of like snuggle into you because she's never had any affection. She doesn't know treat. She doesn't know like up here, up here, get up here. Because I'm like, get in the couch. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:08:33 You can come snuggle with me. We're fine. We're going to watch TV. She doesn't think it's okay. She doesn't think it's okay. She just wants to be outside because I think that they made her be outside as a, you know. So sick. She's such a sweetie.
Starting point is 00:08:49 What a great way to start the new year. What are you doing besides washing your hair? I washed my hair. Today, I organized the cabinets in the laundry room with all my extra sheets and towels and dog blankets. Just been organizing. But in general, I can't remember if I told you guys last week, but I started going back to Pilates. Yeah, you did. You said you were starting Poli.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Okay. Yeah. Well, let me tell you why. Okay. Back story. I used to go to Pilates. This was years ago, though, like when I lived downtown. So I'm talking like six years ago.
Starting point is 00:09:25 I used to go all the time, loved it. I was pretty good at it at one point because I was going so much. You guys, I have never felt older or more unfit in my life than going back to Pilates last week. Yeah. I think I was the youngest person in the room by far the most unfit. Like, by far. So, so embarrassing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:50 This Pilates class had you use weights with some of the stuff, which. Yeah, you know, I'm sure, like, once I gained some fitness back, that will be good for me. But the lightest weights were five pounds. Doesn't sound like a lot. Boy, oh, boy, it was. I couldn't lift my arms for six days. I couldn't go back for six days because I could not lift my arms above shoulder height. They were so sore.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Yeah, yeah, yeah. My ass so sore for days, like, just beyond. And not to mention, I was the sweatiest person in the room. It was a massive wake-up call. I have got to get my health on track. I've got to get back up to my fitness level. I've got to get my stamina up. I've got to get my flexibility back.
Starting point is 00:10:32 I just, you don't really realize how far gone you are until you're that far gone. Yeah. You know what I mean? But I've been three times now, feeling good about it. I paid for three months. So we're going to stick to it for three months at least. I believe in you. Thank you, Wells.
Starting point is 00:10:48 What's it like being engaged? I keep forgetting, to be honest. It's great. but I keep forgetting. Yeah. And I went and got coffee today and somebody was like, you're engaged. And I was like, oh, yeah. Yes, I am.
Starting point is 00:11:00 I am. That's me. Engaged. I forget. So you don't feel different at all. Not really. Is that weird? No.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Not at all. I know that you're in no hurry to get married. But like, is there a world in which you want him to also be wearing a ring? Yeah, probably I think I'm going to make him get one. Yeah. Like, why don't men get engagement ring? I remember when I got engaged. And I was like, I remember this too.
Starting point is 00:11:24 The men deserve some token. It's true. Noddy. I don't even fucking care about that. But I want the girlies to know. Of course. That he's mine. But also, it would be nice to have a token, you know?
Starting point is 00:11:37 Sure, sure. Whether it's a watch or a necklace or whatever it is, it would be nice to get something. It needs to go on the finger. I think a watch also. Yeah. I get you. No, no. I want the girlies to know.
Starting point is 00:11:50 Okay. Okay. Well, then let's go get him a ring. Yeah. Maybe we'll let. He's so particular. I feel like. Okay. Go get yourself a ring. We're going to have to find him a special ring.
Starting point is 00:12:00 He has to be involved in it for sure. He's not the kind of person. He wants to like smelled it and like weld it and like make it. Yeah, he's just very, he's a Virgo. He's very particular about things. Yeah, yeah. Had a crazy week. Did you?
Starting point is 00:12:16 Your boy had a crazy week. That's crazy. I've had a very chill week. It's been very nice. Lovely. Not me. I went to Phoenix. Oh yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:12:28 To watch my old Miss Rebels play. And? Heartbreaking. We lost. I don't know if you know that. I didn't. Came down to the final play and it was a questionable one. It might have been positive appearance, but whatever. We had no kind of business being in the game, but we were in the game at the end.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Anyways, I went to Phoenix. Had a lovely time. What was the temp in Phoenix in January? It was kind of rainy. Anyways, I had a lovely time. I met a lot of people. Met some YFTers out there. Sick.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Anyways, we lost and it's fine, but whatever. I'm so sorry for your loss. Can't win them all. And we got to the final four, which is pretty good. You got to look at the bright side of things. I don't really know, but I'll take your word for it. Well, you know, let's say there's a hundred teams.
Starting point is 00:13:15 We were down to the last four. That's pretty good. Yeah, it's not bad. I mean, what do you? What would be better than not bad being one of the other three teams? Yeah. And he won the game. Hurtful.
Starting point is 00:13:32 But we didn't. I think we lost by four and we threw a pass in the end zone with like no time left. The guy could have caught it, but it looked like he was interfered with. So the question was, was he interfered with or was he not? They didn't call in pass interference, which is fine, whatever. That's the game end and we lost by four. Or you could have been the Indiana-Oregon game where Oregon got beat by like 30 points.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Oh, that's embarrassing. What's better? Your team. Our thing, right? Yeah. Hotty-toddy. Give me that. Hottie.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Give me that. What's with the hottie-toddy? That's our, like, our war cry. Really? Oh, have I never taught you the Old Miss chant? I don't think so. Okay. I'm going to do it and you're going to, it's going to be cringy for you.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Oh, God, okay. But I don't care and I'm proud of it. Okay. Wow. All right. Great. So this is how it goes. It starts with someone yelling out.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Are you? And then. To rumble? And then everyone in the stands responds with, hey, haughty, tidy, gosh, mighty. Who the hell are we? Hey, flim, flam, bim, bam, oh, miss by damn. There's so much cussing. Are you ready?
Starting point is 00:15:02 Hell, yeah. Damn right. Hottie, haughty gosh, mighty. Who the hell? The hell are we? Flam, bam, bam, bam, old miss by damn. I mean, hell's the only bad word. Damn.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Damn's a bad word. Oh, yeah. Okay, hell and damn. I wasn't allowed to say that growing up. Anyways. So that's our war chant. So anytime you see anyone wearing like, any old miss stuff, you say hot-a-toddy.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Hot-y-toddy. Yeah. And a hot toddy-toddy basically is just a delicious hot beverage with alcohol. I know what a hot toddy is. It's a hot toddy, yeah. A hot toddy is a tea with a shot of whiskey. Yeah, but that a hot-toddy-toddy is either a hot tea with some whiskey or it's a very attractive lady. Is it?
Starting point is 00:15:49 It'll be a southerner. She's a hot-a-toddy. Interesting. Yeah. You probably are a haughty-toddy. Probably. You're a hot-y-toddy. My gosh, I'm offended.
Starting point is 00:16:02 You're engaged, ma'am, all right? I can still be hot. I know, but I don't know if I can say it. Anyways, yes, you are a hot-y-toddy. Thank you. You're welcome. We should start the show. Go for it.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Rose and hose, you're listening to your favorite thing podcast with... Well, and Brandy. Hotty-Totty. She's a hot-and-oh. Toddy, guys. Okay, Wells, I have to tell you, since I'm on my whole health and wellness journey right now, you know, there's so many electrolytes out there, there's so many supplements out there. It's just so trendy for people to be coming out with these.
Starting point is 00:16:36 I've been trying a ton and I'm obsessed with Peak. Do you know what Peak is? No, tell me about it. Peak has all these different formulas that can target different things. For me, hydration is something I struggle with because I'm not great at drinking water and I'm pretty active during the day. I'm riding my horses. I'm working in the barn. I'm going to Pilates. And staying hydrated is just so important. It's important for your body. It's important for your skin. It's important when you travel. And I am obsessed with the
Starting point is 00:17:04 peak duo. They have a hydrate formula and they have a restore formula. Okay, so get this. You are going to want to take the BT fountain as your morning hydration reset. Guys, this is so easy. It just goes right into your glass of water and it's smooth skin. It supports gentle energy. And it's, And best part, deeply hydrate cells for the day ahead. So it totally sets you up for success. And then they have an RE fountain that is your nightly restoration ritual. It's an advanced magnesium to calm the nervous system and guarantee deep sleep and overnight recovery.

I am so obsessed with the organic cotton boyfriend crew sweater. I have it in three colors. I wear it all the time. It's the perfect piece to transition between seasons.
Starting point is 00:19:15 You can layer it. You can wear it on its own. And I love it so much that I actually bought Matt one for Christmas. Yes, they have the organic cotton crew sweater in men's. I bought it for him in black. He loves it. It's the perfect piece for him to wear when we go to nice dinners and dressier events. And he loves it so much, he's already asking for it in more colors. Not only do I love shopping for clothes at Quince, they also have so many great home bath and kitchen items that are such great quality. You just can't beat it. That's Quince, Q-U-I-N-C-E dot com slash Y-F-T to get free shipping and 365 day returns. Quince.com slash YFT. All right, you got some paved things, bro. Okay, bro. I'm fully aware that you have a whole other podcast where you have to talk about three years, but. I want to talk about it too, actually. It's so fucking good this season.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Right. It is so good. It's so good. I wish so bad you could have gone back. It's not completely out. How Dyrinda get to go back? Well, Dorenda's Dorend. I mean, she's like one of the biggest housewives.
Starting point is 00:20:35 I know, but. Okay, so here's one thing that I want to present to you. And I want to present it to everyone. Peacock, NBC, they love the people who are on there. things. Of course they do. So Dorinda being a housewife, it makes sense. Everyone who's a traitor
Starting point is 00:20:55 is from the NBC family. I know. I saw TikTok about this today. Oh, you have? Uh-huh. I haven't seen that. Oh, I'm deep. Oh, you're deep into it? Yeah. Yeah. But like it's two housewives and someone from Love Island and you're like, all right, this is just everyone
Starting point is 00:21:11 from NBC. Yeah. I mean, it makes sense. They want their people to have screen time. 100% I totally get it. But that's why I think that like when you're like, why did you not get invited back? But Dorinda did. Well, she's on Bravo. Like, come on.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Right. What are you talking about? Did you watch the first three episodes? Sure did. Did Matt? No. See, I've gotten to watch whatever I want because Matt's out of town. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Okay. So I guess if you haven't caught up on traders, maybe you should take a four minute break. Yeah. Let's go through it. Okay. The traitors, do you like them? The secret trader, do you like them? The faithfuls.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Who do you like? Who do you hate? Give it to me. I love the three traitors, the ones we know, love them. Didn't at first. I wondered, like, where is Rob going to fit in with these housewives? Like, this might be a very strange dynamic. It's not.
Starting point is 00:22:08 It's fucking genius. Anybody should just know. If you know anything about Lisa Renna, you just know that, like, everything's going to be fabulous. Lisa Rina as a traitor is everything I could have dreamed and more. Like she is just an icon. I would love to know because you know when you're on television, you're not normally allowed to wear sunglasses because they want to see your face. How does she get to wear all the fabulous sunglasses that she's wearing?
Starting point is 00:22:34 That's a good question. She must have gotten put that in her contract. I'll do it if. Yeah, I can wear whatever I want. If I can wear sunglasses. Yeah. No, it's so good. I know nothing about Rob.
Starting point is 00:22:45 seen Love Island, don't know a thing about him, obsessed with him. So is TikTok. Incredible traitor. Love that he's just like finding his step with the fucking housewives and being classic. We love that. I got to say, as much as I kind of love Donna Kelsey as part of the cast, I do not think doing the secret traitor thing worked out for them. No, it didn't. I don't. It just wasn't it. Can I put my producer hat on a little bit here? Please. I think that obviously, she is Tara Swift's mother-in-law or soon-to-be mother-in-law. Huge name. They wanted to elevate her role.
Starting point is 00:23:25 And maybe that's how they sweeten the pot. They were like, we'll let you be a trader or we're going to make this entirely new role for you. I also think that she probably wouldn't be able to excel in the missions because of her age. The one where they were like pulling the rickshaws. the people in the people in it, she's not in that mission. Oh. You can watch it and she's just not there.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Which makes me think that she was like, I can't do all this stuff. And so they're like, all right, we'll figure out a way to do it and we did this. Okay, well, that I didn't even really think about that. Well, then what does the rest of the cast think when she's not there? I think that that's why it was a terrible decision because it's very obvious to everyone.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Same on my season when Boston Rob came back. multiple times. We all were like, this is a little weird. They keep making him be on the show. I'm assuming he's a traitor, right? And I think that's what happened with her. I think they had a lot of like really fun things for the secret traitor.
Starting point is 00:24:33 And I think because they found her out so quickly, it all failed miserably. Yeah, it did. I mean, the problem with this is to like, so many of these people have. have built in alliances because they're all in the same, the same show, like the survivor people, the Love Island kids, like whatever. And she's just kind of besides, is it Ron, is a comedian? Ron? Yeah, Ron Finches. Besides Ron, like, she's kind of the odd one out. She's kind of like,
Starting point is 00:24:59 just doesn't really have a place. And to me, that makes her stand out even more. You know, it's like the others kind of all blend in because they've got like friendships already and she's already an outlier. I don't know. To me, that just kind of puts more of a target on her. For everyone out there, I do a podcast called By Order of the Faithfuls. I'm going to ask thumbs up, thumbs down about some cast members for you, Brandy. Okay. Colton Underwood. I actually love him on this show.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Yeah. Didn't think I would. Kurt Ball. We get it. You're gay. I don't know if I need you to like tell us that seven million times, but. I'm here for it. I live for it.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Let's go. I'm fine with it too. And also all the gays like banding together is very fun. It's so good. to me. Dorinda, are you happy she's back? Eh,
Starting point is 00:25:45 I guess I'm neutral. I can't believe it. Donna Kelsey. I really just wish they had made her a faithful and then I would have loved it, I think. Johnny Weir,
Starting point is 00:25:53 Olympic figure skater. Love him. I know. I'm really excited. I feel like he's going to be great on this show. Yeah. Mora Higgins from Love Island,
Starting point is 00:26:03 UK, beautiful girl that she's like, that she's like, I think everyone thinks I'm dumb, but. I say keep her around for her accent because it's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:26:11 I got to meet her when Sarah was doing Love Island. She's a lovely human being. Okay. Yeah, I like her. Lisa Rana? Obsessed. Obsessed. I mean, that's a fucking star.
Starting point is 00:26:23 Like, the fact that they got her is crazy. I know. It's good. Michael Rappaport. Obsessed. I mean, he's a fucking shit show. Yes. Love it.
Starting point is 00:26:31 He's the worst. You know what's amazing. The worst. I saw this on TikTok. Like, the show does a great job of revitalizing someone's career. Like, Sandival was a good example.
Starting point is 00:26:45 He was scorched earth. And then he went on and then all of a sudden, like he's on, America's got talent and like people are over him being like the bad guy. Michael Rappaport is so
Starting point is 00:26:59 hated that he can go on this show and look worse than he was originally. But he's a great television. A phenomenal reality TV personality. Totally.
Starting point is 00:27:13 And I love that he's like, you know I love the housewife. Like a crazy person. What? Yeah. Monet Exchange went to high school with Sarah. So we got to give a shout out to Monet Exchange. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Love. Rob from Love Island, Chef's Kiss. Another curveball. Like another surprise for me. I didn't think. You know. You know, there's two ways you can go about being on reality TV.
Starting point is 00:27:44 You can be really, really noisy a la Michael Rappaport. Or you can be really, really stoic and very hot. And that's what Rob does. Like, he doesn't just say anything. I totally get the producers being like, we're making this guy a traitor immediately. Oh, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:06 The last two that I want to talk to you about that I love. I love Ron Funches. I do too. You know, I feel bad because he put together such a good case. Yeah. He was wrong. But you know what? I know.
Starting point is 00:28:20 He put together a good case and I love him for it. Mm-hmm. And then I love Yam Yam Yam. Yam and Michael Rapaport going at one another. I mean, it's just give me that show. Just give me you two guys having to like travel the world together. Anyways, the show is very good. It's a great cast.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Yeah. There's only a couple that, and they're not getting much screen time, but the top chef host, I just like, obviously don't watch Top Chef, don't really know anything about her. She's just not really, just kind of a filler character to me. I've met her before. She's lovely, but did you see that one scene when she was buttering bread and like doing it poorly? I was like, what are you? You're a chef.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Yeah, they like zoomed in too. Like you're like a James B. award winning Michelin Star Chef and you don't want to butter bread? Yeah. So I hope like we, I hope Tara makes more of a, you know, of a presence because I think like I'd like to see more of her.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Yeah. And I love the idea of her being on this show. So we'll see, I guess. Yeah. I mean, it's a slow burn. We're just three episodes in. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:29:29 that was number one of my things I wanted to talk to you about. So I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's so good. It is very good. I watched the cutest movie on. Netflix called The People We Meet on Vacation. Have you seen this? I don't think so. Well, apparently it was a book that people loved that was turned into a Netflix film.
Starting point is 00:29:49 Listen, is it predictable? Yeah. You know, earth-shattering plot? No. But is it cute? Does it warm your heart? Is it just a nice, fun watch that makes you feel good at the end? Yeah, it is, okay? That's all it matters. That's all it matters. Poppy wants to explore the world and Alex prefers to stay at home with a good book. But somehow, they're the very best of friends.
Starting point is 00:30:19 They live far apart, but for a decade they have spent one week of summer vacation together. Emily Bratter and Tom Blith, Blythe, people we meet on vacation on Netflix. This looks terrible. It's so cute. It is. Okay, this was a bad, that was a bad summary. But that's what it said. It's these two, they meet in college.
Starting point is 00:30:45 I think they're both good. They both go the same college and some other, some mutual friend says, oh, you guys should ride home. They have like an eight hour drive to where they're from for the holiday or some shit. They get put in the same car together and they're strangers who do this road trip. And like they start off like hating each other, like right off the bat. And then they become friends who travel together. And they do all these cool trips and they're just best friends, you know?
Starting point is 00:31:11 And I don't want to bring anything. So I'll just leave it at that. But the whole, and then the whole idea behind it is the girl is like, you know, my whole life being told who I am by, you know, other kids in school that would bully me or XYZ or my parents that wanted this. And you guys, when I'm on vacation, I can be whoever I want to be. Yeah. And I love that idea that they go on these trips once a year and they get to be whoever they
Starting point is 00:31:32 want to be for a week, you know. The cast is pretty good. So you have Emily Bader or Beth. Tom Blythe, and then you have Molly Shannon's in it, Lucas Gage, Jamila Jamil. She did a show with Sarah. Sarah Catherine Hook. Yeah, I mean, listen, this got a good cast.
Starting point is 00:31:51 It's so cute. You love a rom-com. I love a rom-com. Wow, what is it? Who doesn't love a rom-com? I don't care for them. That's crazy. What's funny is that you don't like comedy,
Starting point is 00:32:06 but you like romantic comedy. I do. What was the movie that got you hooked on rom-coms, you think? Oh, geez. I mean, there were so many iconic ones back in the day. I don't even know where to start. I know, but I mean, how to lose the guy in 10 days is like the ultimate rom-com. Do you and Tish the Dish wash rom-coms together?
Starting point is 00:32:28 Like, is this how this started? Like, there's something. Back in the day, of course. There's something that happened early in your childhood. I feel like any. millennial woman grew up on rom-com. I mean, there were just so many. Hey, you know, you know it's a great rom-com?
Starting point is 00:32:42 What's the one with Heath Ledger? Ten things I hit about you. Ten things they hit about you. My God, classic. We grew up on these, you know? How about... She's all that. Great one, Freddie Prince.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Okay, I got one for you. Tell me. Win a date with Ted Hamilton. Fucking great rom-com. Fantastic rom-com. Do you do like rom-coms? And I do like ten things ahead about you. Sweet Home Alabama.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Nah, that one's, whatever. I'm so good. Like the wedding planner. J-Lo. I do like that one. Nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's look up.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Best rom-coms all time. Best. There's got to be so many. And they're all from like our fucking adolescence. That's true. They're not making them anymore. They're not crazy stupid love. Not an old one, but a great one.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Oh, forgetting Sarah Marshall. Come on. Miss Congenial. Oh my God, that movie was so good. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is not only the best rom-com, but just one of the best movies ever made. You've got mail? How did we forget that one?
Starting point is 00:33:49 What about Sleepless in Seattle, sister? Great movie. And then what about Big, which is another Tom Hanks? The Proposal, another Sandra Bullock classic, one of my faves. Say Anything, John Cusack. Some of these. I'm not, she's the man, Amanda Bines, before it all went downhill. Oh, would you call it a rom-com?
Starting point is 00:34:11 I don't know, but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. That's not a rom-com. That's a fucking great movie. That's a heartbreaking film. So good. The Princess Bride. Great movie. Is that a rom-com?
Starting point is 00:34:24 I don't know. I think that's a fantasy. How to lose a guy in 10 days? I mean, that one's just about. Clueless. Fucking classic. Sabrina. Classic.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Teen Candles. Four weddings and a funeral. I'd call that a rom-com. That's a good one. Crazy rich Asians. Oh, how could I forget? This one might be the fucking best one. Give it to me.
Starting point is 00:34:45 My best friend's wedding. That's a good one. Oh, it's so fucking good. They don't make them like they used to. My big fat Greek wedding. I never saw that, actually. High fidelity. P.S. I love you.
Starting point is 00:34:59 I don't know if that one is. I don't think I'd call it a rom-com, though. It was too sad. That one. Great movie. 13 going on 30. Knocked up. Knocked up was good.
Starting point is 00:35:09 The wedding singer. Oh, when Harry met Sally. About a boy. Waitress. There were some good ones. She's all that. Oh, that one was one of my faves. Garden State.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Fucking classic. You loved that one. I know it. I mean, it's like the entire musical catalog is the shins. You know, you can't. Serendipity. Great movie. 500 days of summer.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Oh. Oh, that's a good one. Oh, that's a good rom-com. Really good. But it's not a rom-com because it doesn't end. It's similar to the breakup, where it doesn't end the way you want it to. That's true. But it is still a romantic comedy.
Starting point is 00:35:56 It is. 40-year-old version. That's a rom-com. That one was decent. Yeah. There's just so many. Honestly, I'd watch them all over again. I love them all.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Something about Mary. That's a good one. That is a good rom-com. Okay, I'm getting text that, you know, the globes are tonight. Yeah, what's happening? I forgot about that when I scheduled this podcast. Is your sister winning something? She's presenting.
Starting point is 00:36:22 Oh, nice. And I'm being told that photos of them are out. Oh, there's Mile. She's pulling an Elise Renna, and she's got on the Sunnis. Good for her. It's all tizzles there with the Sunnies on. too. Oh yes. It's just they're like Terminators. That's too good. God, Miley's hair looks great. Okay, well, I'll be stalking that later. Some of the dresses are already, I mean, I'm sorry,
Starting point is 00:36:49 I know I've talked about it before. Whatever Britney Snow is doing, I also want to be doing. She looks fucking amazing. She's in this gorgeous white dress on the carpet. It's so chic, but so classic. She looks so good. She looks so natural. It doesn't. It doesn't look like she's been doing anything to her face, but like she's been doing something because she looks so fucking good. Yeah, she looks good. Obsessed. And she was fantastic in The Beast and Me. And the hunting wife, she's been great in so many things.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Yeah. Do you know what I started reading again? What? Guys. You know, some books are better than others. And this one's so good that I read it again. I'm reading it again and I'm so engrossed. Ready Player 1.
Starting point is 00:37:34 is such a phenomenal book. I need my bell. Great book. So the other night I was like, I have like comfort things that I put on like when I want to sleep, you know, like I know the plots. I'm like fine with it.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Martian's one of them. Interstellar is one of them. It's a lot of sci-fi, whatever. And then Ready Player One is one of them. But the one thing that always annoyed me about Ready Player One is it's so much different than the book. But I read it so long ago that I forgot. got what was different about it.
Starting point is 00:38:06 So I was watching it being like, I know that this is not how you get the first key and the first pass through the first gate. But I don't remember how it was in the book. So I was like, you know, I'm going to listen to that again. I started listening to it. There's a lot of books that I'll listen to where I'll like kind of like start thinking about other things
Starting point is 00:38:24 or it won't be paying attention or whatever. This one, I am locked. Wow. This is going to shock you, Brandy. I am so engrossed in this book, a book of which I have read before. And you see the movie. And see the movie.
Starting point is 00:38:41 I actually think I've read it twice. That the other night I was sitting on my couch and I was watching sports and I muted sports and I put on my book and I just was listening to it. And I was like, this is wild. That this is how good this book is. And I know I've talked about it before. But Ready Player 1 is so good.
Starting point is 00:39:01 It is. It's fucking phenomenal. It is great. The other thing that I've been watching is called the night manager, which is not like new, but they have a new season out right now. It's with Tom Hiddleston, of whom I really like a lot. And Olivia Coleman, who is obviously one of the best. A night manager of a Cairo hotel is recruited to infiltrate an arms dealer's inner circle.
Starting point is 00:39:24 The night manager. Tom Hiddleston is the night manager of this Cairo hotel. effectively he's like having to deal with a mistress for an arms dealer but he doesn't know he's an arms dealer she comes in there with like a black eye and has been all messed up and he like gets really protective over her and but come to find out the guy that beat her up and all this stuff is a very very bad man in the Middle East and he shelters her probably showing shouldn't because now he's in danger as long as far as she is as well. It's a very fun, like, thrilling adventure, the night manager.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Very good. And they've got a second season of which I have not started yet. I'm still in the first season, but very, very good if you're into that kind of stuff. Okay. The other thing that is out on Netflix right now that I've watched before and read the book is 112263, which is a Stephen. That's so old. I know.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Stephen King novel, time travel novel about what if you were able to go back and stop the assassination of JFK. The book's fantastic. The show is now on Netflix. It stars James Franco, right? Yes. It's like number two on like the best shows. It's so good. That came out so long ago.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Yeah, but it wasn't on Netflix. That's so crazy. I know. So anyways, I started watching that and I was like, oh, I like this is so fun. That might be the next book. I might go into a world where I go read books that I know I like again. Oh, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Until someone suggests another Ready Player 1. Did you read the sequel to Ready Player 1? Yeah, I didn't love as much. Ready Parade 2? I know. Yeah. But it was okay. Did you read the sequel?
Starting point is 00:41:17 Yeah, I didn't. I don't remember liking it as much. Yeah. Have you watched anything else? Yeah, you know what else I didn't like? What, Dallas. Die My Love, Jennifer Lawrence's new movie. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:41:29 I didn't like it. Why not? I wanted to like it because I really like Robert Pattinson. It's just really fucking sad and depressing and slow. And I don't even think I finished it. I just couldn't end it. I'm trying to think of what it reminded me of. Kind of like Blue Valentine.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Okay. Only I thought Blue Valentine was really good, even though it was sad and depressing. But it's kind of that whole vibe. Grace, a writer and young mother is fully slipping into madness locked away in an old house, in and around Montana. We see her acting increasingly agitated and erratic, leaving her companion Jackson, increasingly worried and helpless, die my love, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson, Sissy Spacic. Rent Now
Starting point is 00:42:22 On Prime Video. You rented this, huh? I did. Wasn't worth it. Have you watched train dreams yet? No, we almost started that the other night. And now I have to wait for Max. He wants to watch it.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Okay. My most favorite film I've watched this year. I loved it. Well, it's January 11th. Last year. But it is really heartbreaking. So I read this and I'm like, you might not like train dreams. But to me, like,
Starting point is 00:42:56 Like heartbreak doesn't mean bad viewing. No, this one like, it's not really heartbreak. It's just this, these two people are in this relationship and it's just the most fucking depressing relationship that I've ever seen. And it's just, it's just, ooh. Okay. It's just terrible. Well, you got, when is Matt back? Uh, tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:43:20 Okay. Will you watch it? Because I actually really am interested to see like what your guys's thoughts are of the film. Yeah. Because for me, like cinematography-wise, like I don't know if it's one of the better things I've seen. Story-wise, fantastic.
Starting point is 00:43:35 And then also, like, for you, it's so much of it is shot outside in the Pacific Northwest, like this beautiful landscape that I think that you would appreciate. But then the story is really sad. So I'm like, I'm interested to know if like you would like it or not. Okay. Anyways, please watch it.
Starting point is 00:43:55 You know what else I, you know, What else I started that I didn't really like? What's that? Leo's new movie. Oh, one battle after another? Yeah. Oh, I liked it. You did?
Starting point is 00:44:05 Yeah. I don't know. We didn't make it more than 20 minutes. I don't think. We were just like, I don't know. You've got to finish the film. I wasn't grasping me. It's good.
Starting point is 00:44:17 It's very good. And in Benicio del Toro. I know. I mean, I heard everything Chelsea Handler had to say about him at the, um, would she just host critics choice? Yeah. She's so fucking funny.
Starting point is 00:44:29 Yeah, didn't love it. Might give it another shot. Side note, I'm pretty sure. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Miley is sitting next to Leo tonight at the Globes. Oh, really? Yeah, it was just crazy.
Starting point is 00:44:41 I know now it doesn't matter, but if you had told us when Titanic came out that one day she would sit next time with the Golden Globes, we would freak out about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is she freaked out by that? Or is she like, whatever, I don't care. She's being whatever about.
Starting point is 00:44:55 it, but I feel like low-key, she's like fan-girling. Yeah. It's Jack. How could you not? Oh. You know? Also, our favorite movie growing up, like when we were like adolescent, was Romeo and Juliet with him in it. And I just, I just
Starting point is 00:45:11 know that she's fan-girling deep down, but she'll play it cool. There's a new show on Netflix I've been wanting to start, but I'm waiting for Matt. It's with Tessa Thompson. You know what I'm talking about? No. His and hers? Yeah, that's it. John Barrenthal. A journalist in Vesk. a murder in her hometown, clashing with a suspicious detective, two sides to every story.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Someone's lying. His and hers on Netflix. Yep. That one looks good. You know the new season of Bridgerton's coming out soon. Oh, thank the Lord. So excited. Nice.
Starting point is 00:45:47 All right. Well, what do you got coming up? I'm just home for a little while, you know? Yeah. This is usually the only month of the whole year where I get to just be home. So I'm trying to just, you know, do normal things, rest, recover, be a normal person for a second. I don't know, you know, clean out the laundry cabinet and go to Pilates, I guess. This is what people do that don't travel for work, I guess.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Build up your strength for Pilates. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'm hanging out here. Oh, this is the week that if your boyfriends or your husbands or your girlfriends, you know, what I say? Like golf, please watch the golf channel. We are now on the golf channel officially every Wednesday morning, starting at 7 o'clock Pacific or at 10 a.m.
Starting point is 00:46:36 Eastern time. The Vanity Index podcast is airing on the golf channel, please. That's so early. Yeah. You're either in the morning or you're in the afternoon, you know, like, or at night. I don't know. Yeah. I don't know if people are like tuning in to be like, I want to watch a golf show.
Starting point is 00:46:54 at like 7 p.m. That's true. Like that's more of like a morning thing. Okay. Whatever. I'm not complaining about the time slot that I got. Okay. I'm on the golf channel.
Starting point is 00:47:05 I'm on the golf channel. All right. This is as good as it gets. Yeah. It's like you being on like style. The horse channel. You don't care what time you're getting. You're right.
Starting point is 00:47:17 On equestrian central. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Okay. Well, hey, please. If anyone wants to adopt. this three-legged tripod named Maya.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Hit your boy up. Actually hit Wags and Walks up in L.A. Maybe your brother will beaker. I know. But yes. Hopefully. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Well, love you. See you. Love you. See you. I just need you to shut the fuck up because nobody asks you, bitch. I need you to shut the fuck a bitch. Shut the fuck a bitch. Shut the fuck a bitch.
Starting point is 00:47:52 Bound bam. Shut the fuck up, bough, bough, shut the fuck up, bough Bound, shut the fuck up, bough, shut the fuck up, bough.
