Starting point is 00:00:00 This podcast is brought to you by Podcast Nation. What's her? Looks like we telepathically decided it was white t-shirt night. Yeah, well, you know, we look good. You have a different background than you normally do. You know, I think this is just going to be the show. It's like I'm somewhere different every time now. Yeah, it's like where's Waldo but with Brandy?
Starting point is 00:00:23 Exactly. Where are you today? Is that a new wall that you've painted? Well, this is a lovely shade of, primer on this wall. I was going to say it doesn't look like it's finished. It's not. But I am in my office, which is nice.
Starting point is 00:00:38 My new office. However, the office is unfinished and full of shit. Like, if you guys could see this room, it's insane. I'm sitting in the middle of just like shit everywhere. It's become the storage room. Half of it's my clothes on the side. That side's just a bunch of junk. My makeup stations here because our bathrooms aren't done.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Like, it's just crick, gray. Oh. But last week, we recorded during the day. So I sat upstairs in the kitchen to get like the really nice natural light. But since it's nighttime, I needed the ring lights. So I'm down in the office. Also, Matt's home. So he's upstairs, as you heard, watching television.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Yeah. I'm down in the office. And like, even though it's a shit show right now, eventually it's going to be so nice. And I talking to you on my MacBook pro that I use for music, it's like my music laptop. Mm-hmm. And I feel like the camera is so much better. Oh, yeah. Like, it's, I was just using the desktop Mac forever.
Starting point is 00:01:38 And but now I'm like, oh, I think this is what I need to be using. Yeah, I feel like the camera on the newer laptops is better than on the older desktops. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I'm like clear as day. But yeah, eventually this wall will be painted, but I have to get everything out of here to paint this wall, which means the other rooms have to get painted first so the shit can go in other rooms. So it might be this for a few weeks. What color is it going?
Starting point is 00:02:03 It's going to go. A lovely shade of Topanga by Portola Paints. It's going to be a Roman clay finish. It's going to be really lovely. Was that an ad right there? What happened? It wasn't, but it should be. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Topanga is a, hold on. Topanga is a color? I thought it was a girl named Danielle Fissel. It also is. It's also a canyon in California. That is very true. Topanga Canyon. It is.
Starting point is 00:02:30 It is. Yeah. That's what I would have thought of first. You didn't want to go with Laurel or cold water. No. This one's like a really love. First of all, like with this house, my whole intention with the color palette was earthy.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Like I want everything to be like nature, earthy, you know, vibes. And this shade of Topanga is just like a lovely, sandy, beigey with like a hint of peach to it. Okay. It's lovely. And yeah, it just makes me think of Topanga Canyon in a sense just because it's like that canyon like sandy peachy color yeah like dried grasses yeah yeah i hear you i hear you yeah but uh eventually it will be that but i don't roman clay matt's the one that has to roman clay i think we've talked about this is like the deal we've made is like i'll buy the roman clay it's
Starting point is 00:03:19 kind of expensive but he has to do it and so it it's gonna be a minute because we're doing rum and clay in our master bedroom, our master bathroom. He's halfway done the guest bathroom. The laundry room is going to be Roman Clay and also my office. And something tells me my office is going to be last. So we're going to be sitting on a shade of primer for quite a minute. All right. Well, it's not a terrible backdrop, you know?
Starting point is 00:03:43 I mean, it could be worse. Yeah. We should put a green screen behind you and then you could just be anywhere. This room was like a horrible, hideous shade of navy before. Well, it looks great. Could be worse. Yeah. What else is going on with you?
Starting point is 00:03:59 Just had a lovely dinner at Pastis in Nashville. Give me a ding. If you're in Nashville and you're looking for a dinner spot, pastis is so fucking good. Where's that at? It's right next to Soho House in like the Wedgwood Houston area that they've all of a sudden decided is like the new fucking Madison Avenue. There's an Hermes down there.
Starting point is 00:04:20 What? What else did I just see? that was fucking, there's like a fucking pajama store, like Iberjay pajamas, like a whole store dedicated to pajamas. Like, it's crazy down there. A Brunello Cuccinelli, like, who can afford that? Like, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:04:34 It's all of a sudden the fashion district. What once was the armpit of Nashville. Yeah. Where you only go to for the fucking flea market is now the fashion district. There's also good Mexican food over there is what I recall. It might be gone now. Everything's new.
Starting point is 00:04:49 That's really crazy. Long gone. They've kicked them out. Long gone. Yeah. But pastis is so good. It's like French, it's like a French take on a steakhouse, I guess. But I got, guys, I got the trout.
Starting point is 00:05:02 And I don't know what they did, but they had all like almonds on top of the trout. It was so, and Erycovere underneath. Like, it was so fucking good. So we were at dinner at Pastis. Very nice. Were you guys celebrating anything? I feel like that's a romantic place to go. It kind of is.
Starting point is 00:05:19 But no, Matt has a friend in town. he's in a band and I guess they were playing a show in Louisville and I guess today I don't know if you've seen like the airports are all shut down like I saw where New York Newark Philly they're all on like ground stop FIA ground stop for some reason
Starting point is 00:05:34 like that seems to be the norm these days so all these guys had to like Uber here from Louisville to just stay the night and get a flight out tomorrow so we just went to dinner with some of his friends do you buy dinner for people that come into town or do you split it how do you work that out
Starting point is 00:05:51 You know what? So fucking sweet is one of these guys just paid for everyone's dinner. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, really nice. That's actually the second time this week that's happened to me that one of Matt's buddies has just been like, I got it. Wow. Look at you. You got rich friends.
Starting point is 00:06:05 I don't think I do. Matt does, I guess. But I don't think they are. I think they're just nice. Oh, they're generous. Yeah, I think so. Oh, nice. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:14 So, yeah, that's what I did today. Well, very cool. I had to go work. I recorded a podcast this morning for By Order of the Faithfuls because the new season of Traders is out. We'll talk about that in a little bit. Very fun.
Starting point is 00:06:28 And then I had to go into the studio to record an episode of the golf podcast for a golf channel with Rob Wrigal. Do you know who that is? Nope. He's an actor-comedian. He was on SNL. He was on The Daily Show.
Starting point is 00:06:41 He was on Hangovers 1 and 2. The other guys, 21 Jump Street. I mean, he's been on a million different things. funny guy. That was fun. And then I came back here, went on a run, which was lovely. I got to say, this isn't an ad, but this should be an ad. I got the new aura ring. It hasn't come in yet. So I've still got the old one. But I have started logging my meals in the Oro Ring app. Wow. It's really intuitive. I got to say, I took a picture. You just take a picture of your food. And it tells you what it was. I knew exactly what it was, dude. I made this like weird sardine toast.
Starting point is 00:07:17 like a very Portuguese thing that I would make. This is what it said. It said sardine toast with tomato, onion, and herbs. That's what it was. Sardine toast is nutrient-dense, low-processed dinner. Sardine supply of omega-3s and vitamin D is support recovery after your run, because I went on a run today and I told it that or it knew that I did that. And tomatoes add vitamin C for iron absorption between limited, fair, good, and nutritious.
Starting point is 00:07:43 It's in the middle of nutritious. So that's the- Wow. Right? So it's kind of, you know, what's funny is that this morning I had, I had my like protein shake, which is like chocolate protein powder. It did not like that. I did that. They say protein shakes aren't good for you.
Starting point is 00:07:59 And I was like, I thought, wait, this is bad? I thought this is good for me. And it was like, it's not that great. You should maybe just have an egg and like, you know, like your avocado toast. That's better for you. Like it tells you like, no, you should be doing that. And I was like, oh, shit. So anyways, ORA ring, sponsor us.
Starting point is 00:08:19 What's going on here? I know. I'd love the new one. Hint, hint, haring. I just bought it. But if you got the MX card, you get $200 off. I know, I know. But I'm like, I don't like, I have the old one.
Starting point is 00:08:30 I'm like, I don't need the new one, but I would like it. The old one is so much bigger than the new one. I remember you showed me Sarah's when she first got the new one. It's tiny, dude. It was nice. Tiny. Anyways, more so the other show? Yeah.

All my TV hours got eaten up by fucking dancing with the stars. They took a tip out of the old Bachelor playbook. And it was Monday and Tuesday night for like two hours each. It was so much television. Who's looking good? Is Mora looking good with Mac? Mora was fucking amazing.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Yeah. Okay. I had Mark on my other podcast. Love Mark. Obsessed with him. And like, you know, even before I had him on the pod, like, I heard all like the Mark lore where everyone's like, Mark's the fucking goat, marks the best. Whoever's partnered with Mark usually wins.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Like Mark is just like he's got a great reputation, right? Obviously Whitney did so well last year. But I mean, I do think Whitney also like should have danced background. She had some natural dance talent. So it wasn't surprising. But, like, Mora's whole thing is she's like, I have zero dance experience, which I did see a clip that she was an ice skater, which not that that's dance by any means. But it is. It is a bit of experience with, like, performing athleticism, coordination.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Like, there's some things that she's got some tools. Not everybody has, which I didn't know because her whole shtick is like, I have zero experience. But all that being said, you know, not she's not. she's not a dancer um she was fucking amazing she had the best dance of the night i think she had the highest scores of the night yeah which is so crazy and i really think like not to take away from mora she did a great job but i think it's just such a testament to mark and like i think he just picks the right songs i think he does the right choreography to make the talent shine and make them look great and like i just think he's so good and uh it was very cool because his wife who's an incredible
Starting point is 00:13:41 singer saying the song for them. Like she got to come in and sing with the band. And she sang Black Velvet was the song they danced too. It was just also good. Like you should definitely YouTube Mara's dance. Okay. I'm probably not going to watch Dancing with the Stars because my wife isn't here. That's the only time I watch it.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Yeah. Matt hates it. Like Matt was out of town last week. So I was living in all of my dancing with the Stars glory and that's going to be trickier now that he's home. I actually think it's on tonight. So I probably missed it tonight. Anyway, but it's crazy. I do think I heard them say they split the nights because there's more cast this year.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Like they added more pros and added like more cast than normal. So there's more competition. And there's like a lot of people that I think are going to end up being like really, really good. I do love Mora. I think she's definitely going to go like very, very, very far. But my fucking favorite, I got to look up his name because I didn't know who has to be so fucking cute. Julia Stiles is on it too. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:39 like a lot of like there's like a lot of good really good cast on there was like some shade about juliard or something with julia styles oh yeah i guess like juliaard took a dig at her back at the day and was like she did not go here yeah you know and then she was also saying that um is it andy cohen yeah he i guess took a dig at her back in the day too and said she was a terrible dancer so her whole like platform is like proving them wrong and she was good i actually i actually did really like her. Ezra Fresh is his name. He's so young, 21.
Starting point is 00:15:11 He's a two-time Paralympic gold medalist in track and field. But his left leg is amputated from the knee down. He fucking slayed the house down. He was so fucking good. His partner is Danielle Carragosh, who is my favorite dancer on the show. I mean, she's like the female mark. She just makes everyone look so good. Her choreography is insane.
Starting point is 00:15:34 She's just the coolest. And so they're the coolest team. I just thought he was incredible. I want him to win the whole thing. And you know, you mean, I don't usually root for a guy. I want him to win the whole thing. Is it because he's kind of cute, though? He's adorable.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Come on. He's so young though. He's 21. Like, I cannot. But he's very cute and just like very good. And yeah, I just, I'm excited for him. I also don't normally root for someone that's an athlete because I feel like they have an advantage.
Starting point is 00:16:05 But I don't care. I just like him so much. All right. Well your boy Tyler camera is also on there did you know that? Yeah was he any good? He was decent. Derek called him Dylan, which I thought was terrible. Did he mean to?
Starting point is 00:16:17 No, no, no. It was an accident. Funny. But like it was like when they were giving scores, he was like, so Dylan, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. And no one acknowledged it, which was great. It was just like this like no one acknowledged it. I mean, it was night one, like whatever I get it. But yeah, kind of ick.
Starting point is 00:16:32 But no, he was decent for sure. Everyone's kind of decent. Like there was only, listen, Guillermo's not great. We all know that. He was never going to be great. There's a couple that are not great. But like for the most part, everyone's decent. It's going to be a good competitive season.
Starting point is 00:16:44 All right. I'm excited. You're not. You're not going to watch it. I'm not actually. But I'm excited to have Mora win one of these shows because the last one she got kind of screwed on. I know. I do think she might.
Starting point is 00:16:56 She could win it. She's definitely going to win it. She has so many freaking fans and this show is all about fans. She's got tons of fans. She's a beautiful girl. She's actually good. Yeah. Like she might for sure.
Starting point is 00:17:06 She's going to get the guy vote. She gave the girl votes. I know. And she's got Marcus partner, so she's. Yeah, it's over. The show that she did get screwed over on Traders has a new season out, and I watch the first two episodes. This is the normy season, right? The norms?
Starting point is 00:17:21 Yeah, the civilians, I think is what they're called. See, I got confused because they just announced the celebrity cast. Yeah, which I got to say, I wasn't that impressed with the celebrity cast. Yeah, me neither. Not for nothing. The guy from Lord of the Rings, that's cool. And then like Joey and then I'm like and then I don't know so much. I mean, no offense, but I wasn't I wasn't like all that impressed.
Starting point is 00:17:44 But I got to say, I think that the celebrity traders might be going like the way of printing press. It might be going away. I think. Really? Yeah. I think. So this new season with the normies is awesome because you don't know who they are. Right?
Starting point is 00:18:05 Yeah. And you have... I've heard that. You have no preconceived notions. What, here's what they did. Because the UK one is not celebrities. It's just regular people, right? Here's what they did.
Starting point is 00:18:17 They had to figure out a way to make the show popular in the United States. So then they went and they jumped on the backs of all these like dealist celebrities and, right? And like use their social media platform to pump up the show, which is exactly what happened. Right. And now they're like, we can pay these guys. Nothing, basically, just an experience to come on the show. And they're just as entertaining because people still like the premise of the show. They's had to, like, get entrenched in it.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Anyways, I watched the first two episodes. I love them, but it's fantastic. I love who they chose the traders. They seem like they're going to be great traders. There's a new twist in this one that I like a lot. And so in the first episode, the Allen picks two traders. And then he tells them that the traders get to get to choose. a new trader by like the end of the day.
Starting point is 00:19:09 And so when they meet the turret, Alan comes in and he goes, okay, this is what I want you to do. I want you to choose two people. We're going to give, we're going to tell them that they are in the running for being the next trader. And we're going to give them a task.
Starting point is 00:19:22 If they can't complete the task, then they get murdered and the one who does complete it gets to go on. Oh, shit. Yeah. Very fun. There's, it's like, so it's,
Starting point is 00:19:33 it's funny because it's very much America. Right. So there's a lot of like northeasterners like loudmouth New Yorkers and from Brooklyn and from New Jersey, you know. And then there's like the southern, there's a southern lady who kind of goes Karen. And she like accuses this one girl. This one girl's like, oh, I would have felt real bad to get rid of, you know, Kim. And she goes, oh my God, I heard what she said. She said, I felt real bad getting rid of Kim. That's not what she said. But she heard it that way. And then she went and told everyone. It's the roundtable, and she was like, Victor, did you hear that? It was like Victor, her, and this other, and this, the girl who said it. And Victor's like, I didn't hear that at all. And she's like, you're a traitor too. And like completely gets everyone. It's awesome.
Starting point is 00:20:19 And you're like, the Southern Karen's going at, add it hard. And then, of course, the girl's not a traitor. And she gets up there. And then the Southern girl's crying, I'm so sorry. I called. I'm not a liar. And you're just like, yes, this show. Fantastic.
Starting point is 00:20:34 I'll have to. I'll watch it. It's definitely on my radar. Yeah. I think like honestly the first two episodes, I was like, okay, I really like this. Okay. So anyways, yeah. Is the fashion is good on the Normie version? Not yet. Not yet. No. But maybe that's by design is like we let the celebrities be the fed. And also like the celebrities have like, you know, wardrobe stylists and all that kind of stuff. Right. But I'll keep an eye out for it. But anyways, I really like it.
Starting point is 00:21:07 And I think that, like, they don't need to do celebrity traders anymore. Let's just do regular traders. Wow. Okay. Yeah. It's like, Survivor. It's like, you don't need, the show is what's famous. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:19 You know what I think about the other day? What's that? I don't think we talk enough in our society about how fucking weird yeast is. We don't talk about yeast ever. What about yeast exactly would you like to discuss? Okay. So yeast is in kind of everything that we eat, right? Like we consume a lot of products that are made with yeast, right?
Starting point is 00:21:39 Bread, alcohol, anything with like carbonation, anything that's fermented, it's using yeast. But what is yeast? It's like a little bug, okay? It comes in these little packets, so they're like hibernating. And then once you put them with some food and stuff, then they start eating the, I think they start eating the sugars and making, glucose or so i don't know all i know is that we're using bugs little bugs to make bread and beer and that is fucking weird okay and i don't and i don't think we're talking about yeast enough like what is this little alien thing i'll tell you what's not great about yeast the infections
Starting point is 00:22:21 correct yeah i would say in the female community it is talked about unfortunately often Let's ask chat. Oh boy. Chat, what exactly is yeast? Is it like some sort of bug or organism that like feeds on sugars? Is it an animal? Is it alive? What is yeast?
Starting point is 00:22:45 Yeah, it's a fungus, single-celled living organism, not an animal. It eats sugar and poops out carbon dioxide and alcohol. That CO2 makes dough rise. The alcohol gives beer and wine their kick. So definitely alive, just not in the way we are. Okay, so it's using, we're eating yeast poop. That's what we're eating. We are.
Starting point is 00:23:09 And we're drinking and we're getting drunk off yeast poop. I'm not. I don't drink beer or wine, really, anymore. Wait, so what's the difference between a female yeast infection and food-grade yeast? So a yeast infection in humans is typically caused by candida species. Food-grade yeast, on the other hand, is a controlled strain used for baking and brewing. They're different species, different purposes, different safety entirely. How come men don't get yeast infections?
Starting point is 00:23:41 They can, actually. Less common, but possible, especially with certain risk factors like diabetes, antibiotics, a weak immune system, or moisture traps in skinfolds. Not exclusive to them. Okay. That's enough yeast talk for one day. I will just... You brought it up.
Starting point is 00:24:04 I know. I'm sorry, but like, okay, I don't know if your brain works this way, but sometimes I'm like, what the fuck is this? Every time I think of cement, what the fuck is cement? This doesn't make any sense to me. It's this liquid goo that turns into a rock.
Starting point is 00:24:18 That doesn't seem like it makes any sense. I feel like this is bullshit. Same with yeast. Okay, you're telling me this is a fungus that's eating fucking sugars and shitting out alcohol. and or gluten and then we eat it. Like what that? When did this happen?
Starting point is 00:24:33 Well, also like, you know, I see, I just like to not think about these things because they'd freak me the fuck out. Yeah. I'd rather just like not know. I'd rather live in like just ignorant bliss, I guess. But like yogurt, all that stuff that has active cultures in it. Yeah. I mean, we're eating fucking bugs.
Starting point is 00:24:52 That's bacteria though, right? Cultures are bugs. But we're, it's a, yeah, bacteria bugs. Same shit. Yeah. And it's, but like, it's good for you. And that confuses me. So I just do it.
Starting point is 00:25:01 But if I think about it that I'm eating something with something in it that's alive, it really freaks me to fuck out. Yeah. But like, listen, we wouldn't be able to survive without bacteria in our stomachs. We live in a symbiotic relationship with bacteria. It's gross. It is gross. But it's also beautiful.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Is it? I don't know. It's weird that it works. Yeah. And it works pretty well. I just like to not think about it. I know. Anyways, if you don't want to think.
Starting point is 00:25:27 Wait, hold on. Speaking of not wanting to think about it, have you, have you seen all the headlines about Aaron Rogers and Shailie and Woodley? Yes. Okay. So for the uneducated out there, Aaron Rogers, I think is a nutcase, by the way. He went on a podcast and basically just started airing out him and Shailene Woodley's dirty secrets, I guess. And he's the day after she won her first Emmy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ritch is wanting to rain on that parade. Yeah, which is so fucking stupid. Yeah, and so what he said was, is that when they got engaged, she told him, hey, listen, I need to go bang out this other dude before we can like settle down. And everyone thinks it's Theo James for some reason.
Starting point is 00:26:10 But also, bro. Okay, number one, if that's not true, that's fucked up, dude. She just won an Emmy and you're just fucking salty because she's doing well and you're just, I don't know, you're still one of the best quarterbacks ever. But like, what? So if it's not true, that's fucked up. And if it is true, dude, don't tell everyone that you're like, okay, like, you're effectively being like, I'm a cuck. You know, you can go fuck other men. You know, like, what?
Starting point is 00:26:35 You look terrible no matter how you frame this thing. Yeah. Right? I got to be honest with you. I don't think that's what happened. I don't either. I don't know Shailene Woodley from Adam. But I don't think she's a person who's like, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Before we get engaged, I got to go bang out this other dude real quick. You know, like that seems so. unless they were like, maybe they were in like an open relationship and then like, yeah, sure, like, listen, I need to have some closure with this thing or like we were both, I was dating both guys at the same time and I need to kind of finish this thing off, you know? But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to be like, hey, is it cool if I go, you know, slam some cheeks with the old boy real quick and then I'll come back over, you know, like. And also, if you're, if you're Aaron Roger, you'd be like, no, you can't go do that. No, I know. Right? Like, if I had done that to Matt, he would have literally left me right then and there.
Starting point is 00:27:24 If Sarah said that to me, I'd be like, ew, no, dude. Yeah, I'm out of here. Okay, and this relationship is over. And I'll tell you what I'm not doing. I'm not going on a podcast like two years later and be like, did you know what she did to me? And I didn't do anything at the time. Crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:40 I know. Anyways, I just feel like. I'm team Shailene. I love her. I am too. And I like football. And I'm friends with her, his brother. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:49 It's just a bad look, dude. Be better. Very bad. Be better on the field. Right? We need to not hear you talk so much. Who am I to say that? All I do is talk. All I do is talk. Anyways, you got some faith things, bro. I have a question. Did we ever discuss, and we might have, I just, my brain, you know, I'm nearing 40. My memory is terrible. Did we discuss the season finale of Silo?
Starting point is 00:28:14 Yes, we did. Did we? I think so. Because I just watched it like a couple weeks ago, or not even. We talked about finishing it and like it's seeming like it's going into a four season, but what do you want to get off? your chest about it. Okay. So, um, the younger guy, is the younger guy the one that you know that you said he told you he was going to be in the season of silo? Is that the guy? Colin Hanks plays the billionaire who's building the silos. Oh, okay. No, so not the younger guy. No. So the younger guy. I understand they wiped his memory. I guess I should have said spoiler. I don't know silo. I understand they wiped his memory. They put him in cryo so that he can like
Starting point is 00:28:50 live forever, I guess and do this silo thing. He took, he took. He told him. He took him. He took, turned into a piece of shit real fucking quick. Yeah, man. Like, do we think he was always a piece of shit? Or do we think, to me, I'm like, if they only took your memory and you're the same person, that means you were always a piece of shit. Yeah. Right? I don't know. I wonder if when his wife and his unborn child were killed, I wonder if he... Were they killed? I don't think they were killed. I think they were separated. Yeah, but I don't think she made it back into silo. I think she's supposed to be in 18 or 17 when he was in one. Oh, see, I, I, I don't think,
Starting point is 00:29:23 I see it is that she's just in another silo. Well, she's dead now unless she was put into cryo, which I don't think she was. That could be true. He's waking up every like 60 years to do this thing. Yeah, I guess so. What I think happened is that he kind of had a break. Like, the reason why the mind erasing thing came is because the guy got into a car accident. The doctor did with like his daughter in the car and she died and he wanted to forget it.
Starting point is 00:29:52 And I think that's like similar of like he realizes that his wife and his daughter were killed. He wasn't there for them. And he wants to. But actually I think that this made him angry. And then they wiped him and then they, I don't know. I don't know. I know they weren't right during the show. But that's what I came away with.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Okay. Okay. All that to say, I loved the last couple episodes. And the first part of the season was a real fucking snooze. But I do like where they ended up. And I think the last season's probably going to be really great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:23 I'm watching something right now that I think is fantastic. And it doesn't seem like it's a show that you think I would like. Oh, okay. It's a period piece. Okay. Is it a tale of two cities? No. Oh.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Monster, the Lizzie Borden story on Netflix. Have you seen this? No. So this is Ryan Murphy's thing. He's done, he did Dahmer. He did the other one with Charlie Hunnam. That was kind of hard to watch. And then he's now doing this one.
Starting point is 00:30:52 which is Monster, Lily Borden story, a true crime anthology series delivers multi-layered psychological study to study of individuals who extreme action shocks society. So this one takes place in like Victorian times. I want to say like maybe like late 1800s, right? Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:12 This young girl who's maybe like 16, 17, living with her parents, and her parents are horrible people. Her mom is so mean. In like the first scene, the maid brings in. in the soup and it's the wrong soup so the mom throws it in her face
Starting point is 00:31:26 and then fires her and then they're trying to like marry off the daughter and she has like really bad menstrual flow who's got heavy she's a heavy flow person and like the mom is so mean to her about her heavy flow it's so
Starting point is 00:31:41 she's so mean that it's funny like it's like Jesus Christ and so then they hire this new this new maid who's really really good but she's from Germany and she's like a little bit crazy and maybe like bisexual. Anyways, the show starts with this girl, Lizzie Borden, killing her parents with an ex.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Okay, this is how it starts. So it starts in the end, then it goes to the beginning of like how this all went down. So when you see it at first you're like, Jesus Christ, dude. But then you meet the parents and you're like, yeah, fucking you should kill them. Anyways, it's definitely very like female oriented, right? Did you ever watch The Great? No, I didn't. Oh.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Is that amazing? So good. That was another one my wife made me watch. And I was like, I don't want to watch this. This is about like Victorian times. And it's like, it's like a fanning. L. Fanning's in it, you know? El Fanning's in it, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:35 But it's so funny. It's just a big comedy bit. Oh. And this is similar, but it's like much darker. Okay. I'm telling you guys out there, Monster the Lizzie Borden story, two thumbs way up. I watched two episodes and I loved it. Wow.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Yeah. The Ray version. you. I know. I'm excited to go watch another episode tonight. Wow. Okay. Well, I was like browsing last night trying to find something to watch and I came across a tale of two cities, which surely you've read the book. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. True. Yeah. It's an MGM Plus show, which there seems to be a lot of MGM plus shows and you can watch them if you have Amazon, I guess. I don't really know. But I love the book. Back when I had to read books like that in school, it was one of my favorites. Kit Harrington is in it.
Starting point is 00:33:21 randomly? Really? Yeah. I'm like, do I need to watch that? I haven't started it, but I'm like, is this going to be good or no? A pair of lookalikes. One, a former French aristocrat, the other, an alcoholic English lawyer, fall in love with the same woman amidst the turmoil of the French Revolution, a tale of two cities on MGM Plus. Yeah, Kit Harrington, Francois Saville. Yeah, it looks good. Like, it could be good, right? Yeah. Is it a show? It's a series, yeah. Yeah. I think I'm going to try it. Okay. I'll let you guys know. Starting point is 00:35:20 I've got a DM. This is Ashley. She said one for Wells to watch. Death of a pastor's wife on Netflix. I got to hear his opinion on how crazy this pastor is. Okay. Ash watched it. Have you seen a pastor's wife?
Starting point is 00:35:39 I've seen a clip. I've seen a clip. Okay. First of all, this fucking pastor, dude, is such a piece of garbage. What is it about really, really religious people? that they are the worst people in the world. They are. I can't wrap my brain around.
Starting point is 00:35:55 And what I also can't wrap my brain around is that like there's so many people going to this church listening to this guy fucking drivel on. And no one's like, no, dude, that's weird. This pastor, he's much older, right? There's this young, lovely, like 16 year old girl who's got this amazing voice. This pastor, he's married, whatever. He starts hitting on the 16 year old girl, right? When she turns 18 or 19, he starts having an affair with her.
Starting point is 00:36:25 So they say they could have been doing it beforehand. Who knows, whatever. For sure. They start having an affair. He breaks off his marriage to his wife. I think he's got a kid with her. And then marries this young girl that, you know, he's 15 years, her senior. They get into this relationship, right?
Starting point is 00:36:42 And like, they want to make it right. She wants to make it right in God's eyes. So, you know, she's kind of like doing whatever she wants to, whatever she can do. She's like the main singer in the church and he's the pastor. And he has this like insatiable sex drive. Okay. This poor girl's like, she couldn't keep up, right? So much so that she starts taking testosterone because her doctor said that would like upper sex drive.
Starting point is 00:37:05 And this motherfucker is going out in church and being like, you know, if you're not having. This is the clip I've seen. Yeah. If you're not having a lot of sex with your wife, then the devil works a mysterious ways. and he's going to present your husband with, you know, opportunities. And it's like, what the are you talking about, dude? This is you just going up there and trying to justify you wanting to sleep with them. Guess what?
Starting point is 00:37:30 Every guy wants to sleep with everyone. What makes you a good person is you don't do it, okay? You hold back. Not this guy. This guy uses the Bible to justify the entire thing. Men are just so crazy. Anyways. No, not all men, but this pastor's an asshole.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Anyways, this poor girl convinces her that she's like bipolar, gets her on all this lithium, starts like withholding her drugs. Anyway, she finally like breaks free. He starts tracking her. He starts slicing her tires. He's going up at church saying that she's crazy. She's like hiding from him, getting new phones because he won't leave her alone. But she's so scared to like leaving the church because it's like such a big part of her life.
Starting point is 00:38:13 Anyways, this poor girl ends up killing herself. And everyone is like, you did this to the guy. And you know what? I believe it. Yeah. And even if you didn't pull the trigger, you drove that woman to that, to that end. And guess what? That's just as bad.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Yep. Oh, and guess what? He started cheating on, when this all started going bad with his new wife, it was because he started cheating on her with a new parishioner. Oh, and it gets even better. The new parishioner that he started cheating on her with, the guy was in a wheelchair. He was paralyzed from the waist down, and he went up to confront the pastor at the church,
Starting point is 00:38:50 and they found him dead in the pool. What? They were like, maybe he fell in because he got really upset or something. But I'm like, no, that pastor. What town did this happen? Crazyville, USA. Anyways, this guy is now remarried this other girl who's, it's so messed up. So he's not in jail.
Starting point is 00:39:09 No, but the FBI is like, we're looking at it. because the cops were like, cops just want it to be like, it's a suicide, it's over. I don't want to deal with this. We got to deal with it. You know, like whatever. No, it's in like Florida or like South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:39:22 South Carolina, I think. Fucking Florida. Yeah, fucking Florida. Anyways, the pastor's wife, I kind of told you the entire story, but it's crazy. It did. But it is, it does sound crazy.
Starting point is 00:39:33 I mean, you got to watch it. You and Matt should watch it. Yeah. We should. Like his sermons, you're like, what? Who? Who's going to church being like, yep, yep. this is it. This is right.
Starting point is 00:39:44 There are people. It's crazy. It's like people that join cults. I know. I just don't get it. I don't either. But maybe because we're immune to this type of rationale that we should be cult leaders. You know?
Starting point is 00:40:00 Maybe. I don't know. The cult of YFT. I started watching this other documentary that I like a lot called A Killer Story. So it's a miniseries on HBO. A double homicide in Kansas gains national attention spanning over two decades with the involvement of two tenacious citizen sleuths. A killer story. So it's about this double homicide, this man and his wife or fiance are shot with like an oozy, like an AK-47, like a crazy like military weapon in their bed like shot like 47 times, like just gruesome, right?
Starting point is 00:40:42 immediately their children and like all the friends are like, it's the ex-wife, she's crazy, she's been coming around yelling at him, doing all, you know, like saying that he raped her and like, you know, harassing them and scaring her at work and all this stuff. So everyone's like, it's the ex-wife, right? Mm-hmm. Seems like an open and shut case that goes to court, boom, she gets sentenced to, I think, two life sentences.
Starting point is 00:41:06 It's like open and shut, but there is no murder weapon. There is no like real hard evidence. It's all circumstantial evidence. Like her alibi was that she went camping that night, but she also lived 700 miles away from where they killed, where she killed, where they were killed. And she went to like an auto zone and she said just picked up a lighter, but she ended up also getting two big gas cans. So they think that like she filled those up and then drove over there and then drove back, whatever. Her phone was off. There's a lot of like bad evidence, right?
Starting point is 00:41:33 But it's all surrounded by this, this journalist who is always holding a cigarette. He's not smoking it. He's just always got a cigarette. And he's the funniest narrator I've ever heard. He's so funny. And so he keeps on getting emailed by this woman about how she thinks that the woman who was sent to jail was sent there incorrectly. And she's innocent. And she's like one of these crazy sleuths, these like internet sleuths that like knows more about the case.
Starting point is 00:42:05 She went to every day the court case and everything. How do people have so much free time? I don't know. anyways. So at first you're like, I mean, she killed those two. You know, like, what are we doing here? And then they start breaking it down. And they've only, there's only two episodes out. I think the next one's out on Thursday. By the end of the second episode, you're like, wait, hold on. She might not have done this. Damn. I know. It's real fun. Okay. I'm like, where do you watch this? HBO. HBO. HBO Max. Okay. Yeah, good stuff. Good times. Wow.
Starting point is 00:42:40 For all the comedy fans out there. So not Brandy, but everybody else. Rory Scoville has a new special out on Netflix and I watched it. And it's hilarious. I just love his comedy. I think he's one of the funniest people in the world. I've been a fan of his ever since I did radio and I would play comedy bits in the morning. His stand-up is so freaking funny.
Starting point is 00:43:03 Everyone please go watch Rory Scoville. The show must go on. It's so good. I won't, but. Yeah, whatever. I hope someone does. Last thing, got a new book that I am in love with, Brandy. Oh, that's exciting.
Starting point is 00:43:15 My sister put me onto this one, and I'm so glad she did, because I've been kind of in this, like, deep dark hole of, like, sci-fi fantasy, and it's not been hitting, and I think I needed someone to jar me out and, like, put me into, like, an actual, like, novel about, like, something of substance. Yeah. I started reading Theo of Golden. Oh. Have you heard about this?
Starting point is 00:43:38 No. Theo of Golden by Alan Levi is a best-selling contemporary novel about an 86-year-old mysterious stranger named Theo who arrives in a small southern city and quietly changes lives through anonymous acts of kindness. Theo of Golden. I'm so early in it, so like I really can't even spoil it. He's this old man, 86 years old.
Starting point is 00:44:01 He's lived all over the world. He's coming from New York, but he's Portuguese, so he lived all in like Western Europe. He lived all over. to New York and now he's kind of like ending his this is kind of his last chapter and so he has always wanted to go and see the South but he's always been scared of like
Starting point is 00:44:19 the stigma that the South comes with he goes to this cute little town in Georgia cold golden which I'm not even sure if it's real but whatever he goes into the coffee shop and you know him being European he's got a very high standard of how he wants his coffee done the coffee shop is like phenomenal and he's just like amazing espresso like your flat white is amazing like he's like all about it right and on the walls are all these portrait hand drawn portraits and so he
Starting point is 00:44:46 asks the owner of the coffee shop he's like who did this what is this and he's like oh yeah that we have this one artist who comes around and he takes pictures of people in the coffee shop and then he draws them and then we put them on the wall and then we sell them and he's like why is the wall full and he's like we don't sell a lot of them he's like these are amazing amazing works of art so he finally one that like really speaks to him. And the owner says that, you know, I write the name of who it is on the back, like just in case. A family member wants to buy it or whatever.
Starting point is 00:45:17 They want to make sure it's like really them. So he buys this one portrait, finds out who it is, goes online, figures out like where her mailing address is and writes her a letter saying, I want to meet you, I want to talk to you, and I want to give you this portrait because you should have it or someone in your family should have it. And so obviously the girls like kind of freaked out,
Starting point is 00:45:38 by this, you know, like that's a weird thing to do, like, meet some old man at, like, on a bench on like a Tuesday night trying to like give you a portrait. But anyway, she goes and does it. And, you know, the reason why he loves the portrait so much is because he's like, you're so beautiful and you remind me of someone who I was in love with as a kid, but you have sadness in your eyes. And she's like an accountant who's like very buttoned up in type A and she loses it because he can like see inside her vis-a-vis this portrait. and then she like unloads on him and tells him all her problems and stuff. Amazing writing.
Starting point is 00:46:12 And I'm just so excited to see like where it goes next. Like I think the thing is is that he keeps on buying these portraits, keeps on giving them back and keeps on hearing about their story. And it's all under the guise of like he's running away from something too. And we're not sure what it is. Anyways, Theo of Golden. Okay. Real good.
Starting point is 00:46:33 Sounds great. Yeah. Sounds like this is definitely going to be turned into a movie. Maybe. I don't know. So it says the portraits. He visits the local coffee shop featuring 92 pencil portraits of local residents drawn by local artists. The exchanges Theo buys the portraits one by one and returns each one of the person depicted asking only for their personal story in return. The impact. These interactions reveal hidden regrets secrets, spark deep friendships and transform ordinary lives across the community. Wow. Go to check it out. Very cool. Yeah. See, it's not just like murder. documentaries that I'm doing. All right. I'm also trying to expand my mind. It's 90% murder docks.
Starting point is 00:47:13 Murders and cults. I know. They're fascinating to me. With a splash of golden. With a splash of literary excellence. I know, but what about yeast, man? That's fucking weird. I don't want to think about that. All right. I want to play a voicemail real quick.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Love to. All right, here we go. We love you both. This is Marissa from Kansas City. I have a couple great things to watch on TV. and recently finished up Lucky. If you haven't seen Lucky on Apple TV, you're definitely missing out. It has Any Taylor Joy and Annette Benning.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Annette Benning is a great in this. So grab your girlfriend, your wife, your husband, go watch this. Also, don't say good luck is on Netflix. It is starring Sunny Sandler, Adam Sandler's daughter, and he co-produces it. It's a coming-of-age movie. It might make you cry, but watch out. for stunning Sandler in the future. She is an excellent actress and singer.
Starting point is 00:48:10 So that's all I got for you. Listen to you every week. Love yourself. Thanks. Bye. Yeah, we talked about Lucky. I like that. I love Anya Taylor Joy.
Starting point is 00:48:18 Mm-hmm. I've actually told you about my theory about Anya Taylor Joy? I don't know, have you? I mean, like, I think that we're, like, about aliens. It feels like it's just, like, every day there's, like, new alien stuff. So there's a race of aliens called, like, the Nordics who, like, look a lot like us. And you think she's one. I've met her.
Starting point is 00:48:36 She does not seem of this earth If I've ever come across an alien I think she is it You know what I'm saying? Yeah, it could be Because she's tall, she's beautiful She's like very Nordic You know
Starting point is 00:48:48 And she's so talented She knows like four languages Dude she's definitely an alien You could be on to something I know And it's not a put down on her Uh huh No that's pretty fucking cool
Starting point is 00:48:59 Yeah if anything It's a compliment Because I think that like You're so great That you can't be human Yeah And then what was the other one The Adam Sandler's dog
Starting point is 00:49:06 Oh, yeah. I haven't seen that, so I'll have to go look for that. But check that out. I love a coming of age story. Yeah, who doesn't, you know? Yeah. What are you got coming up? Let's see.
Starting point is 00:49:15 Okay, so not this weekend, but next weekend, October 2nd and 3rd. I'm going to Utah, going to Salt Lake City, Park City, Utah. This is a bit niche, but like if anyone out there is interested at all in going to a fundraiser for the American Wild Horse Conservation that I work with, I think I touched on it maybe, but there's just been a lot lately in the news about the wild horses and the roundups and the government's part. And it's, yeah, it's just the New York Times in an article about it. So a lot of people been talking about it, which is amazing because that's part of the struggle, I guess, is just the awareness about people knowing what's going on. But if you're interested in any of that at all, the American Wild Horse Conservation does a fundraiser event every year that I go to. And this year, it's at my favorite hotel in the country.
Starting point is 00:50:04 It's at the Blue Sky Lodge Hotel in Park City, Utah. They have an equestrian center, but they also have a horse rescue and foundation there that the owners started called Saving Gracie, and they're partnering with American Wild Horse Conservation to have this beautiful weekend in Park City. Sierra Farrell is performing, and we do a dinner the second night
Starting point is 00:50:27 to talk about the wild horses and how we can help and what we can do and to learn more about it. Honestly, every time I'm in a room with the people that do this every day for a living, I learn so much about it. So if any of that interests you or you're just a horse girl or you just love Sierra Farrell or you just want to go to Park City, Utah and have an amazing weekend. Come hang with us. This week I'll be posting links on my stories on Instagram to where you can buy tickets for like the whole weekend or just the dinner or just the concert or whatever it is. But I will be there all weekend with them. So I'll be at all the activities and definitely I'll be at the dinner.
Starting point is 00:51:04 would love to meet anyone that's interested in hearing more about the horses. And then ironically, that same weekend in Salt Lake City, I'm playing at breakaway festival. So if you do come out to Utah next weekend, not only do you get to do this amazing weekend of Blue Sky and learn about the wild horses, you can also come to one of my DJ sets if you'd like. I am playing at Breakaway Festival, which is in Salt Lake City. It's the first year they're doing Salt Lake and the lineup's incredible. It's John Summit, Chris Lake. Some huge DJs are playing it and Breakaway is just always a good time. So I'm excited because I get to literally do everything that I love all in one weekend and one of my favorite places of the country. So that's what I'll be doing. Wow. You are blessed, Brandy.
Starting point is 00:51:41 Super blessed, you know. Praise, praise, praise him, you know, but not the, but I'd be even more blessed if our government wasn't spending our tax dollars to round up wild horses instead of them to slaughter. But yes, blessed. Yeah. You know what I got going on? Tell me. Not a goddamn thing. Your boy is taking a break. Have you been saying no to golf? I have been. I am. How's it feel?
Starting point is 00:52:06 Liberating. But I have made the decision that I need to start taking lessons. I've never taken lessons. And I've gotten to a point where like, I'm never going to get better unless I actually take it. Yeah. So that's me. My next thing is being like, all right, let's really work on the swing.
Starting point is 00:52:25 But that is, I need some more time off. But yeah, I've got nothing going on. Sarah today. started her run as Sally Bowles in Cabaret on the West End in London. So if you guys are in London, make sure you go see that show. Skyler Austin is playing the MC and she's playing Sally. I'm going to go see her in October, but that's a while from now. So I'm hanging, man.
Starting point is 00:52:47 Not really. Not really, that's true. It's like three weeks I'm going for a month. Yeah. Are you like, is anyone doing Halloween this year? It seems like no one's doing Halloween. Well, I'm not because my wife's not here. I mean, I'll do something.
Starting point is 00:52:59 by myself. I know. What are you doing? Should I go to Nashville? I don't fucking know what I'm doing. I think I'm old. I like I still love Halloween. And the past like couple years like I don't even think I've done anything.
Starting point is 00:53:12 It's so sad. Maybe I have a party. You should. Someone should be celebrating Halloween. Yeah. I have a party. I'm just curious. Like if we're just like all not doing Halloween or like what am I missing?
Starting point is 00:53:23 Let me know guys. Well, if you're in, you can come to L.A.? I could. All right. Let's do a party. Oh, a little party. It'll be fun. Oh, a little party. It'll be fun. Okay. All right. Why, F tears, you know, we need some more voicemails like Ashley sent us 858-630 1856 is the number and also DM us any of your favorite things over on Insta. And then we will read them on the show.
Starting point is 00:53:46 By the way, I have been looking at some of the comments on Spotify. That case that you were talking about with the lady with the kids that died. Oh, yes. You were right. People disagreed with you. I know. But how? I don't know. How else? I don't know. I didn't watch that. So I don't know what's going on. It's so crazy. I need you to watch it and tell me what am I missing. Okay, I will. I will. It's 2020.
Starting point is 00:54:14 What am I missing? Yeah, that's what I watched was like the 2020 special. Okay. Like do some research and let me know because like Matt and I both are like, what the fuck are we missing here? And a lot of people were very. I got one message saying that, I was missing the point and that there's, now there's stuff coming out, like saying the husband did it. But like the thing I saw had footage of the husband at fucking CBS or wherever he went,
Starting point is 00:54:39 or on the errand. Well, doesn't he change his shirt or something weird like that? I don't fucking know. But I just, he's on camera somewhere. What happened? So I don't understand how that could be the case. And I just,
Starting point is 00:54:50 I just don't know. I don't know. Guys, I just, I don't know either. But I'll watch it so I can have, an opinion about it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:00 But yeah, people are angry at you. I know, but like, I don't get it. Like, what is there to be angry about? Like... Okay, how about this? How about this? Listeners out there who disagree with Brandy, call us up and leave a voicemail, 858-630-1856.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Explain it to us. Like, we are five-year-olds, okay? I am easily... Please explain it. Because, like, I fully understand, I understand the concept. that the system failed her. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:29 The system fails, unfortunately, the system fails many, many, many, many, many, many, people in a lot of different facets of life. The system just fails people. It's horses.
Starting point is 00:55:42 It fails animals. It fails kids. It fails everyone. But when it comes to pharmaceutical drugs, the opioid, opioid crisis, like absin fucking looting, I'm fully on board with this.
Starting point is 00:55:50 However, I don't think that because people are taking opioids and shouldn't be, if they kill someone, they shouldn't go to jail. I just, I just, I need someone to explain to me like why that excuses the act of what happened. All right. Well, you guys out there, if you feel strongly about this against Brandy or with Brandy, call us up.
Starting point is 00:56:10 I want to play that. I want it to explain it. I want it to be explaining me too. And as far as the opioid crisis goes, all I can say is let's vote for people in this next election to help like stop that instead of voting for people that want to like perpetuate big pharma. Correct. Yes. just so many politicians getting paid by Big Pharma, like, let's not vote them in office and let's help the opioid crisis and then maybe things like this will happen anymore.
Starting point is 00:56:36 Yeah. All right, we solved all the problems. I don't know that we did, but feel free to, like, call in and tell me what. Yeah. What we're missing here because. Let her know. Let her happen. What I saw looks like she was admitting that she did it.
Starting point is 00:56:48 Yeah. I don't know. All right. I'm going to get out of here. Have a great night. I'm going to bed. I can't wait. All right.
