It's the Friday feels, and we're back with your first sip of the weekend.
You're now tuned in to this week's episode of your happy hour. I'm your host Nicole Carmine, and it's amazing to have you here. I'm your host Nicole Carmine, and it's amazing to have you here.
joining me this week as we uncover the truths about being a human and a working professional.
What are you up to this Friday?
Well, whatever it is, this moment is just for you.
Hello everybody and welcome to the final episode of this year 2025 and today it is just you and me.
I'm Nicole, your host for this podcast and I am the founder of the field.
And today we are going to be wrapping up on the theme of December, which was repurposing purpose.
And the question that came to my mind was, well, what on earth are we doing here?
And why did we come to this wildly beautiful earth to go through all this human stuff?
And so I really wanted us today to delve into this topic of purpose, of repurposing purpose,
and to take a little journey to close out what has been really a truly crazy year, 2025,
and ignite into this festive period a candle of perspective, I guess, to rejuvenate ourselves
and to get ready to rock and roll in 26, because the next time I see you guys,
it will be a brand new year and a brand new guest, a brand new theme.
I will keep a surprise on what that is.
But today, I just wanted to take a quick look back at what this year has been.
And I don't know about all of you, but it has been an intense year of a lot of energy shifts for us all.
And I think in a lot of ways, it has challenged us to think about purpose.
As we spoke to Joe Kelly, our first guest of this season, she reminded us that, you know,
I think a lot of us have been conditioned in how we've been raised,
and we forget to be human beings.
Instead, we are always trying to do the things that are expected of us
and what we've been taught and how to behave as a humankind.
And then we spoke to Nicole, who also reminded us that there are certain patterns
in the ways we present ourselves in the world,
and that it's okay to go with the flow
and that it's important to always be open
to what the world is giving you
and the nudges that are in your heart.
And that pause is not a passive thing.
Pause is really important.
And I felt like our last speaker, Igler,
who spoke to us about sound art
and about really tuning into nature
and you know her journey with her purpose was really beautiful in the sense that she followed her heart
she followed the nudges and so I really wanted to think about purpose and thinking through all
kind of the insights and the gems that we got from these three conversations and I sat back and I
kind of wondered like where on earth did this word come from what on earth is is purpose you know
why was the word purpose invented in the first place?
And I did a bit of research and digging
and it seemed to me like it took a journey
from the 13th century where it was born as a word
and it was in the Middle English time and era
where it was first said as purpose,
which meant to put forward, to propose something,
having an intention, an aim, an object, a plan.
And then this kind of like later transitioned into an old French way of saying
purpose or purpose, which is porre, which is fourth, and pose, which is to put.
So to put forth.
And it also resonated with the Latin word propositum, which is a thing proposed or intended.
so basically it came down to what we propose what we put forward and what is the proper function
of why something exists what is the intention what is the aim okay by the mid 14th century however
to like early 15th century we moved from the word purpose to purpose where it actually was
more the per with the u instead of the oh so
it became more of like a purpose. Now purpose is more of a meaning of to design. So it is kind of
made to design or for putting forward to do something on purpose. So by design and intentionally.
So already just in one century or two centuries this word had gone from to propose something
with a certain intention of what it was useful for to being put forward as by design.
This might not sound as different, but then I scroll down a little bit further on this website
that I was investigating, the etymology of the word, and linked to this word, popped up this
word of posen, posen meaning suggest, so to pose.
That's something, so I suppose, I assume, I grant, I concede.
Or as the French in the olden way would say, posé, so to put to place, to propose.
And what I kept seeing in my mind in front of me was this word that was staring at me glaringly, pose.
Not so much about what was in front of that, the pur or the poor, but pose.
to assume a position.
For example, if in today's world we pose,
it is to assume a position for someone like a photographer
to see you in a certain way that is quite intentional.
It's there by design.
I mean, we all know what it looks like when it's a natural photo
versus a posed photo.
It's clear which is which.
And so what I think is quite interesting is that
we've gone from the word purpose meaning this thing is fulfilling what it is meant to do in this
world maybe you're a human and we're being human to this thing needs to look a certain way
pose to be to be by design and so now I wonder you know it's to me it's to me
it's no wonder that we're confused about what we aren't doing here.
If the word purpose is supposed to guide us in what we are doing here as a human species,
but it's really evolved so much from being to trying within two centuries.
And it's really more about what we look like versus who we are.
it really has become an objectified function of our existence
and I know that in every language
and there is evolution and it has its reasons
but what if we could take a new look at
what this word purpose is
because I do get the sense that it stresses us out a lot
I don't know about you guys but it stresses me a lot
to think about what is my purpose in life
and so I dig a little bit deeper
and because I do believe that
every thing in this world was created by sound
sound just tapping into what Igler was saying
in episode three sound is just the most incredible powerful tool we have
the world was created by sound
we create things in our life by sound
because they are waves that ignite energy into motion and creation.
And so every sound we make has a meaning.
And if we think about how we use the word purpose
and what that meaning is,
I dug into a little bit more of a spiritual website,
which reminded me that if we look at the word purpose
and we look at what it starts with, the you,
that is very much linked to the energy of divine wisdom, spiritual awakening, high consciousness
and it is believed that the sound of you is there for us to facilitate clarity, intuition
and connection to our divine selves, to our powerful being selves that we are.
And if we look at the sound O, so purpose, it is the sound that's related to our
heart chakra, which is symbolizing of love and compassion and emotional healing. It opens up
our heart. So when I say, oh, it's like it's opening up that channel, that energy to flow
for unconditional love and connection. And so what if the word purpose didn't have to be a source
of stress. But it could be about intentionally aiming to link our divine wisdom of clarity and
connection to our heart space. What if every time we use the word purpose, we're using these
sounds that help us align with who we really are as divine beings? Because I do believe that. I believe
we are so powerful and divine.
And what if purpose meant finding alignment between these two?
Opening up to love, learning about why we were created and put you home.
And what if purpose was just as it was intended?
Not to pose, to be human, to exist.
And I find it interesting that we are always seeking for that reason,
outside of ourselves, somewhere else, with somebody else.
And it's just within us.
And so what I think is quite interesting is if I think about the time of the world we are in right now,
we're celebrating Christmas. So a Merry Christmas to everyone out there.
And I hope this festive season is incredible in the way that it brings you peace and joy and
relaxation that we all very much need but also a reminder of having gratitude for what we have
and I think about why we celebrate Christmas and to those who don't it doesn't really matter
I mean I'm more spiritual so I see Jesus Christ who was born as another human being
and I think that he really came to remind us that it's not so much about
the flesh. It's not so much about the posing, about the idea of what we have of being human.
It's way bigger than that, that we are these souls that encompass a human being.
Our body, the flesh is not really our body. I feel like he was trying to tell us that our body is the
energy. It's the energy with which we are here in this world.
and we get so hopped up about, about the vessel, about the vehicle.
And I think it's interesting also, you know, when I think of how we hide ourselves as humans,
we are so often trying to not be what we are.
If I think back to just using the biblical stories as an analogy, you know, to the Garden of Eden,
and where all of this probably started, if Adam and Eve didn't want to please
an external being that was offering a temptation or you know perhaps we wouldn't be in this
situation but here we are and the reason is that that story tells us that by indulging in the
world we are punished for doing something wrong but what if the the idea is not to see it as that
the idea is to see it that we can indulge in the world and yet still be naked, still be
ourselves. Because if Adam and Eve just came out of the bushes and said, oh hey, God, sorry,
like here we are, I have no doubt in my mind that God would turn around and say, okay, cool,
that wasn't great, I didn't really want you to eat from that tree.
But that's okay, I still love you.
You're still beautiful the way you are.
But their perception of who they had now become was other than what they were.
And it's like they wanted to pose.
It's like they wanted to hide from their true nature.
I think so often in today's life we are hiding from our true nature.
We don't talk about the human thing is the way
they should be you know we we we hide from our bodies we hide our bodies behind clothes and i think it's a shame
and i really would like to encourage us this pest of season to really think about what was the
purpose of jesus coming to sacrifice his body his flesh to be born to show us a way of being
human to love and to be kind and he really was not anything other than who he was and whether he was
was seen as a savior to some and just another human being to others he was also a soul just like
you and me that came into body to experience this life this earth and this earth is a 3D existence
this earth is full of time and space
that gives us a certain limitation,
a certain frequency, a certain experience.
And what if we embraced this vehicle?
What if we celebrated this vessel?
What if we, within the frequency perspective of this world,
if we were just ourselves, as we were intended by design, not to be hidden.
And so I think this is a really interesting topic of repurposing purpose.
I wish for everyone that we do not get stuck in the conditioning
and that we learn to manage and alchemize
what is emotion, what it is to be in motion as a being.
And I think a huge part of that when I think about what happens to us
from a perspective of getting stuck in the old sense of purpose, as I want to call it,
is that we end up thinking we need to lead a certain purpose
because of previous societal expectations.
Your purpose has to be X because that's how your parents,
saw it or your grandparents saw it or generations before you and it's really difficult to break out
of that and i want to encourage us in 2026 to cleanse our energetic bodies to cleanse ourselves from
generational trauma from generational thinking from the perspectives of many moons ago that might not
be applicable to you in your unique being today so
I want to encourage all of us to start with who we are.
And if you don't know, start with the things that you don't know you not.
Maybe it's not so much about free will, but about free won't.
These are things I won't do because that doesn't resonate with me.
And you'll discover your will, you'll discover your purpose,
you'll awaken to your divine self.
And once you do,
you can figure out what you want to do with this bunch of molecules
that you are as a vessel, these energy bodies
and little atoms that are held together by an intention.
If you think about when we die, your body disintegrates
because there's no more intention and reason for those molecules
to be together.
So what keeps your molecules thriving?
pay attention observe notice what are the things that bring you joy what are the things that make
you look younger make you want to get up in the morning make your body feel energized and stop
hiding what that is because you know what hiding just doesn't suit us as a human race it just doesn't
suit us it's not cool and I want to leave you with a quote from a book
and this is my stack recommendation for this week.
On my reading list is a book I should have shouted out a long time ago
and it's one of my favorites and it's called The Prophet by Khalil Gibran.
And Khalil said,
Spiritual Awakening is the most essential thing in man's life
and it is the sole purpose of being.
It's not civilization in all its tragic forms
a supreme motive for spiritual awakening.
Civilization is, it is, and in all its ways that it conditions us.
It is the motivation, it is the reason that we are here to awake spiritually,
to awaken to our divine selves.
And so thanks to Khalil for reminding us of that.
And my dream of the week this week is choosing.
Something I've learned recently is that the key to
to being a successful human
is the fact that we have choice.
And it sounds so simple,
but we hide from accountability.
And I actually believe that as hard as accountability is,
it is the true path to freedom.
And maybe that is what Jesus came to show.
Like, hey, you decide, you make decisions.
That is the path to being fully trusting in yourself,
which is a hard thing to do
if your trust in yourself has been broken a few times
but again you made those decisions
and so you can make different decisions
and so accountability has been huge for me
to take on and say amazing
okay maybe it didn't work out
I made that decision it's okay
I'll deal with the consequences
I'm not going to die it will be fine
and so lastly I want to leave you
with the people places and spaces shout out
and I think very much on point, something that has been super helpful for me
and I know others in our community is an app called the pattern.
I've been using the pattern for about two, three years now.
And it is based on astrology, but it is very much been a daily motivation for me.
And I just want to say, guys, thank you so much for what you've created.
They have amazing kind of meditation sounds on there now.
the app has evolved since I started using it and we just really love your feels so thank you so much
for creating something in the world that helps us all see our light and understand who we are
I want to say find our purpose but it's not that remember remember what is that is that is
intentional for us what is intended for us what is here for us as human beings
and with that I want to leave you with a very big hug from the Fields crew
