Starting point is 00:00:00 I'll share all my fucking wounds. Will you? No, a lot of people won't. And I don't understand why. If you do, you feel in the moment because you're not inside your head trying to avoid the conversation when it gets uncomfortable. This is your transformation station. And now your host, Greg Favaza. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to your transformation station.
Starting point is 00:00:44 I am your one and only, your show host, your leader. No, not really your leader. No, I believe that is the diplomatic executive that makes all the decisions for us here in the U.S. But I am your mentor. I am your mentor. Today is a show-low, so. Solo day. God, where is this thing going today?
Starting point is 00:01:14 We don't know. But how has everybody been doing? It's been a while since I've been on the mic doing a solo. I miss doing solos. I feel like it really allows my personality to fly out, to lurk, to linger, to get in, and everybody can soak up what I'm putting down. No, no, no, no. It's been a long, long week, but I love it. I love it. I love being a dad. I love being a student. I love being who I am. Now, have you guys been saying that to yourself? Do we wake up in the morning and do we remind ourselves right when our day is about to kick off that we love ourselves?
Starting point is 00:02:15 or doesn't even have to be that. It's just more of some sort of daily affirmation, a reminder that you created, nobody else. Everybody else's affirmations, they work for them, but it doesn't work for you. That's what I notice. If I take the time to put it together, I am more likely to continue it,
Starting point is 00:02:44 rather than finding somebody else, someone else is proverb and saying it over and over again. Now, we can say, okay, yes, from a Christianity standpoint, there are proverbs biblical that we could utilize, and that works too. That's just fine. But for me, what I'm saying is I'm trying to get the results. So if I were to instill the effort to do the thing that I'm trying to do versus doing some from copying someone else's work or having somebody else do it for me, it's less likely that I'm going to maintain that.
Starting point is 00:03:36 and I'm not going to believe in it. It's only going to be very surface. Have you guys done that? Have you tried that before? Am I the only one that's saying this? Where you would research something that you could find that would help you in doing anything. This is all universal thought here. So stay with me if you can.
Starting point is 00:04:02 And if you can't, well, you just sit on the sidelines and take notes. But for us, applying this method that we take, it's not always long term. But I've noticed if I were to create the very thing that I'm trying to create and go down that path, I'm more likely. It's like you, let's like creating our mission statement, understanding what our intent is in short-term goal. long-term goals, these very self-explanatory things. And when I say self-explanatory, we all think that, but are they? I mean, I'm 30 years old, and I still need to review the fundamentals. I know in the military, in order to be an expert, you have to master the fundamentals.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Are we doing that? Are we mastering the fundamentals? And don't fucking tell me that you do, but you really don't. Because we know plenty of professionals, regardless, we can say, for an example, doctors. There's plenty of fucking reports, articles. I've read a couple books that illustrated them blames. forgetting to wash their hands prior to conducting surgery. These are simple things that we take for granted and then assume we do,
Starting point is 00:05:49 or the fact that we've reached a certain point in time where we don't need to do it anymore because we have seniority. Fuck seniority doesn't matter. You still have to do what you're supposed to do. because if you get lazy, you're slowing your team down. You're slowing your family down. You are not helping the rest of the culture, the rest of the organization. You're not helping yourself.
Starting point is 00:06:23 If you have that mentality that you don't think you need to do it anymore, I know that's what I'm struggling with. And I'll come out and admit that shit is that I feel like I shouldn't have to do it. but that's wrong. It's wrong. It's the wrong mentality. Because it just shows all over your face and who wants to be around that type of person. An autocratic individual just demanding shit and telling people how to do it, but they don't fucking do it themselves.
Starting point is 00:06:59 I feel like that was the majority of influencers yesterday and still today. that people are getting in front of large crowds and tell me people how to do it, but they're not even doing the shit that they're saying. That's hypocritical. That's benign. That's bullshit. I'm here with you living the dream, living the life that we're all living together, and I'm struggling. I'm sweating my ass off, grinding, just like you are.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Are you motivated? I'm fucking motivated. I'm motivated to get my old life back, but improve that old version of myself into the version that I'm trying to get to. And then by that time, I will have a new individual idea that I want them to be.
Starting point is 00:07:55 What about you? What are you doing? That's why I'm here. I'm here for it to be your mentor. I'm here to guide you, to push you, to tell you everything you're doing and to reinforce you if it's right or if it's wrong or if I don't fucking know,
Starting point is 00:08:14 I'm going to find out what it is and give you that information. That's why you give me the trust to listening to this podcast. And I have my trust in you that you will apply it because nobody wants to listen to my voice and not act on it. I can't help it. I listen to my voice and I'm fucking motivated to go do something. But I get it. I fucking get it.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I'm a full-time dad with my significant other, of course. But it's my first-born son that he's about four months now. And I'm also a blended family. I'm fathering a blended family. Come on, Greg. Stay with this. I'm fathering a blended family. And first-time homeowner, full-time student online.
Starting point is 00:09:11 I got less than a year getting that fucking bachelor's degree. that I'm going into organizational consulting. I'm going to look at corporate consulting because we need to restructure organizations today. That mindset of how they feel like company culture, culture in general, inside any organization. I know that shit's fucking flawed. I was a part of the largest organization in America and it's fucking flawed. And that that's flawed, everything is. analysis flawed. We're just not looking at it hard enough. We're not digging deep enough to analyze and say,
Starting point is 00:09:52 what is wrong? Are you? Are you doing that at your job? Are you in a leadership position? And are you looking for ways to improve not just yourself? We get that. But your company culture, your employees well-being, the efficiency. How about your home? What about your family? Are you improving the relationship with that? You know this all fucking interconnects? It's malleable.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Everything I'm talking about, it's transferable. It's malleable. I don't know if you guys get that. I feel like you do. Because we all have the instinct to recognize patterns. It's a primitive understanding. So you must. What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:10:55 Are you just getting by day in and day out, waking up and reacting to the day? I know I'm having those moments. I hate these moments. And I talked with Simon Trevarthen, Trevei, No, it's Trevarvan. I talked to him about these consistency habits, these little applications. And he told me I shouldn't kick myself in the teeth because I missed today. It's hard because I want to kick myself in the teeth.
Starting point is 00:11:38 I want to bash my face into the mirror and be like, Greg, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why aren't you doing what you say you're doing? it angers me because I am a man of my word and if I can't be a man of my word to myself, then I feel like that ripples out. I feel like that can affect my decision making. I feel like that can affect the people I love as far as being able to say no so I can be at the bus stop in the morning or in the evening. or my little girl rather than doing a recording.
Starting point is 00:12:26 I feel like I can really be a better parent, a better guardian, a better all-round individual. Because that's why we're here. This isn't just a leadership podcast. This isn't any kind of fucking leadership podcast. This is authenticity. This is me ripping the guts out of life. and looking at what is wrong.
Starting point is 00:12:57 I'm focusing on leadership, but you think that just applies to business? Fuck, no, everybody's a goddamn leader. Everybody can take accountability. That's what we're looking at. We're looking at the principles, the philosophy, the outlooks, the success habits. We're looking at the standards. I want to illustrate military standards and how we should live. And now that sounds scary to people.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Oh my God, military. Ew. That just sounds like it's a lot of work. Oh, my God. Fuck, no, it's not a lot of work. It's easy. If you can wake up and take care of a child every day, you can do the military standard. It's that easy.
Starting point is 00:13:37 It's just you being fucking lazy by not taking more than what you're already doing. Because what? We have an excuse. We have things that we're constantly doing. Yes, we all have things that we're constantly doing. But if you want more out of yourself and you're looking back 20 years, later from now wondering why you live your life and regret, it's because you didn't make that decision now here, this moment, as I tell you, that you should probably start implementing
Starting point is 00:14:06 something of a structure that will put you in the direction you want to be rather than just settling for what has already came. Are you? Are you just settling? I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. Fuck, no, I'm not. I went through over a hundred relationships to find the right individual. I don't give a fuck what anybody thinks. And you guys should have that mentality too. You should be okay with being open about yourself. I'll share all my fucking wounds.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Will you? No, a lot of people won't. And I don't understand why. If you do, you feel in the moment because you're not inside your head trying to avoid the conversation when it gets uncomfortable. We need these conversations. You need these conversations. I need these conversations. I'm trying to frame this show so everybody understands.
Starting point is 00:15:23 this is a how to learning outlook. This is how you, this is how you become this person you're striving to be. I just, I hate saying like cheesy shit. Like I don't want to give you a marketing answer, a branding answer.
Starting point is 00:15:52 I want you to know the authenticity of what I feel. And what I feel, I don't have like there's like a level between one and a hundred. I feel like I only have either one, the lowest level or a hundred where I just blatantly tell you everything and it freaks a lot of people out. I don't get why it freaks people out because it's too much. People aren't used to it. Who gives a fuck what they think? I don't care.
Starting point is 00:16:18 If you're still here listening, then fantastic. You made the right choice because then that means you have a head on your shoulders. You want to do something. for those that don't want to, or maybe I'm just not your type. That's okay. We're all okay. We all need certain ways to approach a problem. And if I'm not the right guide for you, I hope you find the right guide. That's what I wish for. I wish everybody gets the right mentor. And the right mentor for me that I wished is somebody rip out my guts and hold it in front of my face and say, Greg, this is what you're doing wrong. This, this, this, and this. If you would have just stopped
Starting point is 00:17:01 this shit a long time ago, you would have been in a better position than you are now. And the position that I'm in right now can't get any fucking better because I love where I'm at. but what I'm thinking about is financially, professionally, what if I made different decisions? Would I still be here? Probably not. But that always comes across my mind. I wonder.
Starting point is 00:17:33 But then at that point, when I'm wondering, I wouldn't change anything for the world. I love my newborn son. I love my significant other. I love my blended family. I love my Labradoodle. I love me. No fucking photos, please.
Starting point is 00:17:56 You're damn right. You got to have that mentality. You got to wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and say no fucking photos. Why? Because you are the fucking star of your life. You are the leader that people are looking up to. Because there's someone around you
