Peter Drucker has said that what gets measured gets improved.
And this insight's been incredibly valuable to me over the years I want to explain why.
Until you measure something, you're operating in somewhat of a black box.
You're essentially guessing aiming at targets you can't see,
which ultimately means you're leaving life up to chance.
But once you begin to gauge your progress in a specified area,
you now have information to work with.
You have an increased sense of awareness
and the ability to focus,
which, as I've said before,
and believe wholeheartedly,
what you focus on becomes your reality.
So here's a quick example
that I think adequately paints a picture here
of what I'm talking about.
Way back, when I first started my business,
I was chatting with a friend
about wanting to grow my YouTube subscribers.
add value to as many people as I possibly could with my work.
Back then, it was all YouTube.
That was the crux of my business.
And so the first question he asked, he goes,
just out of curiosity, how many subscribers join the channel daily?
And I realized in that moment, you know, I don't know.
I knew the total amount.
Like, I kept tabs on that, but not the sort of daily fluctuation,
how much grew on Monday versus Friday, you know, that type of thing.
And this guy, he had a tracker.
He's very big on that.
Basically a sheet with the most important things that he's trying to change in his life.
And every day when he would wake up, he'd record a quick measurement in each of those categories.
My first thought was, eh, you know, that's a little over the top.
It's a little extra.
But hey, one of my favorite mantras is that you are your own experiment,
and I was happy to try something new that could have a positive impact.
And so I did.
I started recording daily the net subscribers that join the Your World Within community.
And what I found was incredible.
They say it's the simple things that make the greatest difference in our lives, and this would
certainly be no exception, right?
First and foremost, just seeing that number every day kept growth at the forefront of my mind.
It kept me aware and excited and thinking through that lens, as if I were on a journey or
mission to outperform the me of yesterday.
If on some random day you grow 30% more than you usually do, it's only normal to see that
and ask, well, why can't this happen every day?
Why can't this be my reality?
And next, and probably more obvious, it armed me with the tools to tactically improve
my performance.
Those daily metrics helped me find critical answers, arrive at important conclusions.
You know, what days of the week and weeks of the year have the greatest impact?
What trends lead to increased viewership?
My daily average subscriber count is X.
I wonder what it would take to bring it to Y.
Right?
And so basically, instead of just showing up every day with my fingers crossed and hoping I'd hit it out of the park, I had a more informed approach.
It's like taking a blindfold off.
And all of this prompted by writing one little,
number down in the morning. The more I did this, the more it became obvious that it should be
implemented in other aspects of my life. If this is important to me, if I say with conviction,
this scenario I want to improve, how can I afford to not know the extent of its growth?
And now I do track the handful of things I'm most invested in growing because those will be
most impacted by my giving them attention. There's a saying that what you're just saying that what
you water grows. Well, your focus and your attention is what will water the seed, what will give it
life. If you're looking to lose weight, but you never look at the scale, you're hurting yourself.
You might say, well, I don't want to be all about the numbers. It's a lifestyle change,
and I certainly agree the point is not to track every single step you make. It's to realize how
often we operate blindly. It's to show you that with 100% certainty, your increase,
awareness and attention dedicated to any pursuit will make you more effective in bringing
about your desired result.
Knowing your daily progress keeps you in the game.
It keeps you excited and also arms you with the tools to make the necessary changes.
See, we are brilliant creatures capable of incredible things, but it's critical that we position
ourselves so that we can win the game.
It's critical that we not only look, but see.
To be simplified, to condense life down to only what's important, and to monitor those things
that are important to you will give you a tremendous advantage.
And again, this is basic stuff.
But we skip the basic stuff.
Because we think the big changes come from complexity.
They don't.
They come from choosing a target and working to get closer and closer to its bullseye.
Like Greg McCune says in essentialism, growth often has nothing to do with the acquisition of more.
Sometimes it's about eliminating the things we don't need and focusing on that which we do.
Now I'm suggesting we take it one step.
further and measure our growth as we take those meaningful things into the great unknown.
Life can be challenging, that's no secret.
So why not arm ourselves with every advantage available to us?
Why not keep yourself excited and invested and knowledgeable?
Often we look around at what we don't have and think, man, I could never have what they have.
never do what he or she does.
The reality is, they identified what matters and brought it to life one small step at a time.
And guess what, you can do the same.
It's not a miracle you need, it's awareness.
So here's to keeping your eyes open, to not only looking but seeing.
And in doing so, getting results from the opportunity we otherwise would walk right.
Bye. You can't make something that already exists. You find it. Unmask, unveil, allow it to shine through in its original state. It can be improved upon or enhanced, but who you are is who you are. And that's a beautiful thing. Because success is not about looking around you and trying to replicate someone else's idea of a life well lived. No, it's about removing
everything you're not.
Until all that's left
is what matters most.
You, in your most
authentic state.
That state that most people
don't bother to uncover.
And see, in a world of
acquisition, of longing for more,
it's the ones who learn
to cut away
that truly live. It's in
refinement, simplification
that we find clarity,
that we're gifted
with peace of mind, because it's the burden of constantly doing something that doesn't excite,
or playing a role that is not yours to play that is the costly one.
Life is about meaning.
And to deprive yourself of that is to remove the wind from the sail.
We are not free until we decide to be.
As Greg McCune mentions in his book Essentialism,
the Latin root of the word decide, sis, or so.
said literally means to cut or kill, it's to walk away from what you're not.
Unearthing the power, the value, the potential that always existed despite our ignorance.
So let's no longer ask what do I need in order to be who I want to become
and start asking what can I remove that is infringing upon who I am.
What can I dismantle so that I might give wings?
to that which means the most.
It's always fascinated me that we spend so much of our lives searching for the things that we realize in time we had all along.
That our journeys bring us full circle.
Our stories end how they began and in the end, we fade away holding tightly to that from which we emerged.
Not because we fell short.
No, but because eventually we realize how simple things really are from the outside looking in.
We realize what we have.
Speaker Dennis Waitley once said happiness cannot be traveled to.
Owned, earned, worn, or consumed.
Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.
It's why times like these, when we get to look around and recapture our perspective means so much.
Almost as though it's reassurance that, yeah, life can be hard, frustrating, abstract, but that the core of everything is contented, is enough.
It's why we need not search for love we are in fact surrounded by it.
We need not search for hope when it's ingrained in everything.
every breath or reassurance when it's a phone call away.
I once heard an interesting idea that we only see what we focus on.
And not only metaphorically, but literally so much of life exists outside our periphery.
If you can walk down the same street every day and see something new each time, imagine
the power of readjusting how you see life as the sun comes up in the morning.
Imagine pulling more of what matters into focus,
becoming living proof that we don't need to wait
until things are gone or changed
to appreciate what we have and who we are.
I think that's why Cicero said gratitude,
not only the greatest of virtues,
but the parent of all others.
Because when one can look around and see all that they have,
scarcity has to give way to abundance.
Fear becomes hope, the mundane becomes beautiful,
gratitude is power because it's not acquisition, its awareness.
A reset button.
A tap on the shoulder reminding us that life is about the people who make it worth living.
The times we spend together.
It's a reminder that the minutes aren't ticking towards some light,
altering grand finale, but that each second is in and of itself a miracle.
And of course, I'm a believer that we are here to evolve, to grow, to test,
the waters to push our limits, but I'm also a believer in asking why.
And it seems to me the answer is not to obtain something new, but to share who we are with the world.
Not to get what we don't have, but to make the most of what we do.
Not to impress or fit in, but to take that passion that increases our heart rate, that curiosity,
that pulses towards new horizons, the incredible world,
friends and family by our side and simply realize that we are this very moment embarked upon
the adventure of a lifetime. And for that, I am forever grateful. Strong enough is all life asks of us.
Strong enough to carry on. Strong enough to take an uncertain step forward. Strong enough. Strong enough.
to be better than we were yesterday.
Everything starts with strong enough.
The decision to make a single move towards an existence
that is not yet yours, not yet.
But it's arguable that understanding it could be yours
is a greater accomplishment than making it so.
As the old Latin proverb states,
once you've started, you're halfway there.
halfway, not because you found a shortcut or some previously undisclosed path, but because convincing
yourself that you have everything you need is the greatest barrier to entry. It's the wall
around the castle, and once you scale that, well, everything else works itself out with time.
But life asks that we be strong enough to start the clocks. It asks that we have the strength
to begin.
See, because just as things start
with strong enough,
well, they could just as easily
find their end
there as well.
How many journeys weren't started
because we forgot
that our responsibility
wasn't to suddenly arrive
at the destination,
but rather find the courage
to take a small step in that direction.
How much of ourselves
do we leave on the shelf
because we forgot
that transformation
overnight wasn't the goal, but rather a trust in the process.
The heart to paint a first stroke, make a first call, walk out the door, strong enough
can be an ending or a beginning.
It's a fire that can enhance, it can nourish, or it can burn out.
And that is perhaps the greatest question of our lives when the time approaches.
When life demands more of us, will we only see the finish line, the mountain tops, the vastness of the terrain?
Will we feel small and inadequate?
Or will we remember that we are strong enough to advance to push back against the chaos of life?
And that's not only all that's required of us, but it's the key to everything worth doing.
The start of transformation, the seeds.
of beauty, the foundation of impact, that is our challenge.
Where some bow down to the impossible.
You have to see it for what it is, the many possibilities that comprise it, the hope.
The understanding that an improved existence is about having the strength,
not to change reality in one foul swoop, but to carry on.
To take another step and see that as time unfolds, those steps,
become the blueprint to a better tomorrow. Those steps, that courage, that strength is everything
you'll ever need. Why is it that the average person seeks out the advice of what feels like a million
people before consulting himself? Knocking, looking, hoping, is he looking for answer or looking
for permission to be who he already knows he is. Is he looking for insight or just validation
that his reflection is in fact okay? See, I think we all deep down know who we are, know what
drives us. And even if we don't know exactly what the destination looks like our hearts know
the direction best suited to begin the person. So how is it so easy to forget? Why do we
we get our antennas crossed.
See, when life becomes about meeting requirements
and fulfilling obligations,
checking off boxes, and checking in on time,
we forget the basics.
We forget to live for ourselves.
As if our job is to play a part, not direct the movie.
And playing apart is living up to expectations,
directing the movie, well, that's creating your own expectations.
expectations. This world, your world, it belongs to you. It's a world with both unimaginable happiness,
bliss moments of ecstasy and the occasional suffering, chaos that we have to navigate through.
But I think all of it comes down to whether you trust yourself to live it for yourself.
To remove the shackles, take the training wheels off, stop asking permission and do what you've
always known was the right thing. That part never changed. It just had to wait amidst all you're
looking for external direction for you to pause and find the internal courage. Freedom is not a
life without chaos. It's trusting yourself to determine which dragons you will slay. It's not a life
without battles. But fighting those battles that result in your liberation, dismissing the oppressive.
that build fences in your mind and chains around your soul.
I've thought a lot about the idea of a life well lived,
what it means, how it feels, and it seems to me,
it's about intentionality.
Where are you going?
It's not that you can escape suffering or eliminate fear.
It's not that you'll avoid getting lost along the way,
but it's the why.
Why we endure these things makes all the difference.
Is it for a better tomorrow or a better tomorrow,
simply to get through today.
And it's amazing.
Accidentally stumbling upon that which scares you
and intentionally facing that which scares you are so different
that their occurrences trigger completely different neural networks in the brain.
See, overcoming fear is ingrained in us.
We want to grow.
We want to evolve.
We need more.
The question is whether you will step out of the line that someone else made for you
and live a life that is,
your own. And if it's crazy, great. Let it be crazy. If it's unique, perfect. Stand out. And if it scares
you, my God, if it scares you don't turn back, don't you dare turn back. Give yourself the most
important permission one can give the permission to follow your intuition and your curiosity into
tomorrow. Let the stakes be higher, but the rewards be meaningful. Let the chaos be your own to
tame and to master. Every twist, every turn becomes not only a part of you, but a chapter in the story
of your becoming. And as the seed you've held in your hand for so long finally meets the earth
and grows so high that it connects you to the heavens, remember that this is your life. It sure,
obligation to live it fully. Everything around you has a story. In fact, many
stories and more importantly our lives are the culmination of these stories. See,
we don't identify things through an objective lens. We see them in relation to
our individual beliefs, our needs. Strange as it sounds, our lives are almost
entirely fiction, they're arbitrary. When was the last time you got into your car and
and thought of it as nothing more than metal in part.
Probably not recently.
Right?
We see it as a gateway to where we need to be.
Mobility, freedom.
Just like art isn't brush strokes or sonic vibration.
It's an emotive escape.
We give meaning to things, and those meanings vary.
The world as it exists through our eyes
is entirely subjective.
You ever wonder how something can be a problem
to one person and a solution to someone else?
Or how deeply held political beliefs can be so contradictory?
How can a movie come out and half its critics say it's amazing?
The other half say it's subpar.
Life is subjective.
It's an infinite amount of tiny stories that come together
to create our world.
And everyone that you walk by has their own.
And here's why that's worth discussing.
Here's why it matters, because we fall into the trap of using these make-believe guidelines.
After all, that's what they are to define ourselves.
We deem other people's subjective norms as truth.
The benchmarks for our own pursuits.
Consensus is good, well, then it must be good.
They say it's bad, well, then it must be bad.
From the perspective of a creator, one of my most important realizations was that, you know,
feedback of something I've created or a lack thereof doesn't define the value of the work.
I still think some of my best work is essentially undiscovered. Some of the things I've thrown
together in 10 minutes have been seen by millions of people and that doesn't change how I value
the work with little recognition. That's just our emotions drawing false conclusions.
Here's a different example. Let's say there's a baker, right? And he's got a bakery in a neighborhood
and does great work.
His shop's been open for a decade.
He's been in business.
But one day Oprah walks in.
Takes a bite, loves it, recommends it.
Suddenly his cake is everywhere.
Suddenly, they're extraordinary.
Same question, right?
What changes about the cake?
Nothing.
What changes about the baker?
Nothing.
Excellence lived there the entire time.
Did his work become more
the second it got a powerful endorsement?
No.
It was simply recognized.
And this understanding,
the reason I'm bringing these.
examples up is because knowing that is crucial to whatever it is you're trying to build or
become in your life.
Because these narratives matter.
The good, the bad, the ugly, they don't stop coming at you.
They don't stop peeking around the corner trying to influence your story.
And just because you're not where you want to be yet, just because you haven't seen the
external reward, it does not mean you aren't brilliant.
It doesn't mean you're not on track towards excellence or you're changing the world.
Maybe you are that baker before Oprah skips on into the shop.
I don't be someone who confuses everyone else's story with reality.
That makes it incredibly difficult to take control.
A lot of people we call Brilliant Now, they weren't thought highly of along the way.
In some cases, quite the opposite.
And thankfully, they understood the subjectivity of their brilliance.
That if you're confident in your voice and your message,
if you sacrifice and dive into expertise in an area,
the value rises to the surface.
Society will adapt and conform to you
simply because you didn't bow down to it.
There's brilliance there.
It just needs to be believed.
in and refined, even when others don't get it,
even when it's abnormal, even when your passion receives no validation.
See, brilliance manifests itself brick by brick,
and it's very easy for passers-by to laugh at that unfinished frame of the house.
But eventually, it comes together, and the layout is beautiful,
and the architecture is stunning, and your defiance,
carves a little niche for itself somewhere in the depths of reality.
Then the light bulb goes off.
Then it's understood.
Maybe you were right all along.
Do you believe that this world is yours,
that space and that time are trustworthy passengers on your journey?
Do you believe in the unseen?
that what we know and what we don't, what's possible and impossible, they're not so different.
They just need to be connected.
Do you believe that one person can be the difference?
That courage is a choice and that if you have something to say, not saying it, is a tragedy.
Do you believe in your resilience?
That when your back is against the wall,
that when all seems lost, when everything is in doubt,
we are presented an opportunity to evolve into something more.
Do you believe that there is a way?
That when the road ends, there is another path.
That when you can't go around, you can go through.
And when you can't go through, you can go over.
Do you believe that the dark,
Darkness before you is merely the absence of light.
A light waiting to be created, brought to light.
That nothing is meant to be.
Any void can be filled and you are in fact the architect of that light.
See what you have before you.
It's no easy path.
It's not the simple one or perhaps even the one you ask.
for but it is in all respects yours. It may seem larger than you. Its uncertainties
may make you question your decisions. Its complexity may prompt memories of simpler
days but none of this lasts. Because over your shoulder what you've left behind
will always tell a different story. Always remind you that you could have stayed
home. You could have remained and accepted things as the
were dreamt about what might be.
But rather than wait for time to expire and take your power into the ground like most ultimately
do, you talk to the sky.
You let the stars, the infinite world beyond the horizon guides you, and as much as you decided
to be here, this path shows you.
It chose you to make something new where there was once nothing.
You exchanged breath for the first time with an atmosphere conducive to your greatness.
You did not know it was there the whole time and how could you have?
It wasn't visible to any naked eye, it wasn't accessible to the common man but it's
here now because you said yes.
So please hold on to that courage because it's everything.
The difference between accepting the now and rewriting history is belief.
belief in a tomorrow that is different from today, and as you make your way into this darkness,
be proud.
As you enter that which most wouldn't dare to confront, hold your head high when you falter,
stumble, when the ground under you begins to shake.
Believe not only in your pursuit, but in your resilience.
Life remains cold and dark until we find the courage.
to do something about it.
And so we step out of the shadows.
See, you aren't escaping the emptiness you're leaving behind.
No, you are the one who will give that emptiness life.
The maker of a new universe.
You are the architect of light.
Living is easy.
It's my inability to die that kills me.
My hesitance to lock my old persona.
and place it within the ship's cargo hold,
watch its sail away to some far off place.
Maybe for a minute, maybe forever.
But the bird has to be uncaged.
It must unlearn its constraints.
It must metaphorically die
to transcend that which it knew itself to be.
I think we all have wings.
I think...
think very few of us put them to use.
And isn't that the challenge?
Perhaps we're too busy living.
I've always had the ability.
Now I've captured the fleeting awareness next.
I must obtain the courage.
Because the rule, the truth, the beacon of light to be followed
is we're always one decision away from a totally different life.
If dare I decide to take the mask off
That's been so effectively fooling others
That I begun to fool myself
Dare I decide to play new games with new rules
To see life with new eyes
Perhaps upside down
But when your sight is finally
Finally set on infinity
When you're looking at the clouds
While lying on your back
Who's right? Them or you?
Who gets the honor of deciding?
And sometimes I wonder how far we need to walk,
to understand that the danger isn't stepping into a new pair of shoes.
It's thinking you need to walk the same path down the same street
in the same pair of shoes you've had on your entire life.
Strange, peculiar, according to previous cognitive mappings,
but maybe they're crazy is your oxygen.
Maybe crazy is pure.
It's desirable.
It's been the goal all along.
And, well, where I thought I dedicated my life to its pursuit,
I see how wrong I was.
To think something new could emerge.
No, not without the death of the old.
Not without that caricature of myself slipping away.
Not without that ship taking everything, every last thing.
I want roots ripped from the ground.
I want new heroes and new villains, new street signs telling of new roads,
new tears from eyes stimulated by that which I've never seen,
the increased rhythm of a new heartbeat,
in anticipation of all that lies ahead.
New beginnings, maybe for a minute, or maybe forever.
I'll let you know once I learn to die.
I woke up last night and I remembered my debt to you.
Being that I stand by the promises that I make, I jumped out of bed.
And I walked over to my desk, I turned on a light and I began writing.
At a minimum to explain myself, but at best case scenario, to provide some reassurance,
that every storm ends, that nothing is forever, and that someday, without question, I'll make you proud.
See, things haven't been the easiest lately, and it's funny.
Sometimes things seem so intuitive.
Sometimes they make so much sense.
And then sometimes it feels like you open up a novel right in the middle,
and it's in a language you can't read.
You know, life feels more complex than it really is,
and I feel smaller than I really am,
but don't be concerned.
I've fought my way through worse.
I promise you you'll be satisfied with the result.
And yeah, you might have noticed that sometimes I face the obstacle
of juggling two sets of standards.
You know, two definitions of success.
Mine in the world.
What I love and what matters to me,
versus what will increase my status, my standing in society.
And honestly, it pulls me in two different directions sometimes.
Makes me think back to years past and that discomfort of experience,
you know, standing on an empty foundation.
But believing someday something meaningful would stand there.
Realizing that when you put your head down
and when you block out the noise,
You can finally hear the most powerful voice of all your own.
That's why you take L's in the short term to acquire meaning in the long term.
I've found that courage before.
And I'll find it again any second now.
Don't you worry?
Sure.
You might have seen that every once in a while I forget about life's abundance.
I mean, I just do.
I know it's true, but it feels sometimes like the world pushes me to forget.
You know, I start comparing myself to other people,
and I start thinking about what I could lose,
what people might say about what could go wrong.
And it's like, sure, I know I'm the gatekeeper to my own mind.
I understand that.
In fact, I cherish the idea.
But I guess sometimes doubt catches that gatekeeper napping and slips through.
I always catch him eventually, though.
I've had doubts before, and really all I did was keep moving by them.
by them. Kind of like that time I went snorkeling in Key Largo, you had to make your way through this
jellyfish field to see an underwater statue. My first thought was, this is crazy. But then you move
in and you realize they just exist. They don't have control or an agenda. And if you find the
courage, they become meaningless. You can float right by them. So don't worry, I'll swim through
and you'll see me on the other end.
And I will catch that view,
not for Facebook or for Instagram.
Because in a way, I owe it to myself and I owe it to you.
I didn't make these promises to run when things got challenging.
I made them because they meant something.
And yeah, from the outside in, things are not perfect.
I get that.
I understand.
But if you just hang tight, if you just remember that I've been there before, I've climbed out.
I've come back.
In fact, the deeper, the valley, and the darker the night, the clearer the answer always becomes when I emerge.
And it may be a journey, but however long it takes, I've gotten there.
And I have to admit, yeah, it feels funny writing a letter to myself, but I need you now more than ever.
You've always been my toughest critic, and I appreciate that, but now I need you to be my biggest fan.
To remind me that life can be confusing and seemingly contradictory, uncertain, and even chaotic.
But that doesn't mean I'm not right where I need to be, right where we need to be.
And if you'll just believe in me, if you'll hop along for this ride,
you'll see that as sure as I'm sitting here writing to you now,
I will make you proud.
So imagine you're sitting down, having something to eat, thinking, relaxing, reading, whatever you're doing.
Someone walks up to the table across from you, pulls out the chair, sits down, kind of leans back, puts one leg over the other.
casually tells you, you know, you probably don't have what it takes to do anything significant
in your life.
What would you say?
It would be outrageous, right?
That's a ridiculous scenario.
Well, let's say that the next day you get up and you go to walk, run, work out, and he
shows up again.
Starts running next to you, casually reminding you that the odds of you changing, doing anything
for the better or slim to none, that this is kind of a waste of time.
for you. You brush it off, you go to work and guess who? He passes by your desk, leaves a little note saying, you know, that your bosses, your higher-ups, they're cut from a different cloth. They just see things in a way you can't. You'd probably tell that person to take a long walk off a short pier, right? Or at the very least, you'd understand how absolutely insane the situation is. People can't just walk up and talk to you like that. But now imagine that same person as you. Living rent, free,
in your head and here's the catch.
You invited him in.
You allowed the negativity and the doubt
to live there.
See, every time I think about that self-talk,
I can't help but wonder
in a world of obstacles to navigate
and challenges to tackle,
why is it acceptable for your biggest obstacle
to be you?
Why should you allow or be okay with that?
And I'm not saying everything's perfect.
all the time. Every thought's pure bliss. But I am posing this question. If you don't believe in
yourself, how do you expect anyone else to? If you're not your biggest ally, if you don't
respect the person staring back at you in the mirror, how do you expect the world to? Why is our
inclination to tense up and refute the negativity from others, but sit back and accept the same
nonsense in our own heads.
If those words don't support what you're trying to build, I don't care who they're
from, where they come from, why they're there, they don't deserve your time.
And it's a simple awareness that they are not truth, but merely your fears and your insecurities
trying to stop you from becoming who you might be.
My biggest leaps in life, they didn't come from physical milestones or benchmarks, they
came from mental shifts, convincing myself, believing myself, trusting in myself.
When the road is untravelled, when the story is untold, the positive and the negative are both
make-believe. They are both fairy tales, their options, their theories, and guess what? You get to
choose which option, which one will be yours. My favorite quote is, you are always stronger
than you think you are. Not so much because it reiterates how high the bar is, but because
it reminds me how low we often set it for ourselves when we're not paying attention. How loud
that negative voice can be. You know, when I was unemployed, I was writing, I was running
out of money, my life changed because I stopped seeing myself with some lost, jobless mess,
and I started seeing myself as one of the greats with a hell of a road to travel. See, people
always follow through on who they believe themselves to be. I refuse to hear that you might fail
and the not good enough and I buckled up for the road ahead and when you believe you can change
and know that the road to your goals will be rocky, it will be uncomfortable but worth it.
You are taking that hostile voice and making him or her a spectator, not a decider of fate
and yeah, you will lose, you can't win all the time and you will feel stuck but life's not
always smooth sailing and sure you'll be mad at yourself but not every decision is a home run.
But these situations are the byproduct of a journey and here is my point. Self-belief is being
able to differentiate your situation and pointless negative talk about the situation. It's about
remembering that you are the gatekeeper of your own mind. When you believe in you, it places
your fate, your strength, and your determination in the driver's seat. It makes everything else
trivial, meaningless. It makes it an option that you are simply not going to choose. Your eyes do not
create. They obey. They are projectors that play the stories your mind has written. Messengers.
Delivering pictures you've already painted.
or lose long before they open, your outcomes decided long before they see a thing. Your outlook is not
a reflection of the world around you, it's a reflection of the world within you. And I wonder how we can be
so lucky as to have the opportunity to literally create our own reality, yet we position ourselves
so that we're disadvantaged. We act as though the wake of the boat is more powerful than the wheel
that steers it. We remind ourselves of the obstacles, instead of reassuring ourselves that we possess the
ability to get around anything and everything that stops us. If we can create our own landscapes,
why insert storms? If we can define our own rules, why penalize our progress? If we're capable of
feats beyond our wildest dreams, why do we instruct our eyes to see stop signs?
Your eyes longed to see the world as it was meant to be seen.
With its color, its fullness, its beauty, its perfection,
why not give them permission?
See, there is no use for the negative.
The downside brings you nothing.
There is no value to be obtained or required from what doesn't push you.
The solution is simple.
If it doesn't make you stronger, let your eyes
See beyond it, refocus, re-examine, because I promise you the answers you need are in the same frame as the things that hold you back.
The problems, they are the solutions, the opportunities, they are the risk.
Life is that portrait, but it is entirely open to interpretation.
See, the same people that see beauty, that find magnificence, they will always see it.
They will always find it.
In the down times, the winter periods of life, they'll feel it during the days when we look up and we wonder how in the hell these dots connect.
They will run towards the chaos.
Find answers while others see what's not there.
Eyes are the tunnel in which all that data is transferred, but understand this, it doesn't begin externally and flow into your brain.
No reality, as you know it, it starts within.
