In today's episode I mention a comment made in Tim Ferriss' "Four Hour Workweek" about all human beings being insecure at some level. Why does this matter? Well, people tend to have an authority bias towards those who have accomplished things of significance, placing them on pedestals and acting as though they have all the answers. As though they don't share the same questions and concerns as everyone else. In reality, no one has all the answers or has everything figured out.  The differentiator is that some people push forward anyway.  Like Ryan Holiday states, confidence is earned.  So yes, we are all insecure.  We all have our doubts and problems.  But greatness is about moving forward anyway, knowing the losses will make you stronger and the little victories will ultimately stack up.

In this episode, we're going to talk about authority bias and how, you know, the perceived greatest minds, the most influential people of our time, don't have all the answers. What they have is self-belief. So I was able to pull another little gem from Tim Ferriss's four-hour work week the other day. And one thing he does well is he takes the complex and he makes it so simple and so relatable. And that's truly difficult to do. It's like a pop song, right? It's hard to make a catchy four-minute song. That in itself is an art. Well, he's really good at taking these ideas and making them relatable and simple. And one thing he talks about is, you know, everyone's insecure. That in itself, right? Everyone is insecure. We grant authority bias to the people that we look up to are the people that have done things, right? Like I said in the intro, the influential people in our world, the people who have, you know, accomplished great things. It's almost like we see them as infallible. When in reality, nope, they're insecure. They question what they're doing.

They don't have the answers. They look in the mirror and know it's not figured out. There's just a subtle difference. They understand. They trust themselves to figure it out as it comes. The Ryan Holiday quote that I use all the time, it's, man, it's just such a powerful thing, right? Confidence is earned. As simple as that.

Confidence is earned. It means everyone from Elon Musk down. They don't think they have the answers. They know that they don't have the answers and they trust themselves to walk into that abyss and figure it out. And when I heard Tim Ferriss say that, I'm like, you know, there's something nice about that. There's something reassuring about that because how often do we create this narrative where it's like, oh my God, everyone knows. Everyone has the, like everyone has their lives figured out. They understand the way of the world, and I don't.

I'm working towards it. Right? And it's like, no. It's 8 billion people who have no clue. Some pretend better than others. That's all it is. It's a game of self-belief, not all-knowing, right, superpowers. And sometimes it's nice to hear that message.

And I thought today, that's exactly what I would relay. Everyone is insecure. No one has all the answers. Some people believe in themselves, right? To the extent that they're okay walking into that abyss. They're okay not knowing because they know that when they fall, they'll learn a little bit and then pick up the pieces and keep going and keep going. That's what it's about. Evolution of insanity. It's crazy until it's not. You have to trust yourself. So today on this beautiful June morning, remember no one has anything you don't right in terms of ability to push forward to make a difference to create change in their lives sometimes guys it's just a matter of action it's just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other and seeing what happens sometimes it doesn't go well great now you know now you know something you didn't two steps before right but let's say be let's be people of action, not those that sit on the sideline and create this narrative that,

you know, the rest of the world is all knowing. And I'm a perpetual student, right? No, we're all students. We're all trying to figure it out. Sprinkle a little bit of courage in there.
