Dear 2025, as you come to a close, I have some thoughts.
And at first, I didn't really know what to say.
I was reflecting a little bit, listening to the letters I wrote 2021, 22, 23, 24.
And to be honest, there's a bit of overlap between them.
I mean, a lot can happen in a year, and a lot often does.
There are ups and downs, highs, lows, lows, people that leave.
your life, people that arrive, there are wins, there are losses, that's every year.
So what makes you different 2025?
Especially since in so many ways it feels like you were a mere continuation of last year.
This sequel to my new life in the Arizona desert.
Well, the answer reveals itself when one looks a bit deeper.
Do you ever find yourself so deep in the weeds that you don't realize you've signed
simultaneously wandered into the forest,
become so consumed with the detail that for a period of time you lost the frame.
Well, 2025, this year's been a lot of stepping back to see the frame,
because the winds were all downstream of my perceived setbacks.
Not some of them, by the way, all of them.
Born of the all-encompassing anguish that I'd felt in the moment.
When that aforementioned forest burns down, you don't immediately jump to, wow, what a necessary, healthy part of the forest's growth cycle.
Now the land can go back again, fuller, stronger.
No, we see the flames, the destruction, and we flinch, we feel sad.
And I'd be lying if I said I recognized all of that newly cleared out space for growth.
In reality, at the time, I probably stared too intently into the flames.
Mourning what was gone.
2025, they say hindsight is 2020.
And while as I look back now, I see you did a lot of taking away, a lot of burning down,
but I also see how absolutely necessary it was.
Because what's emerging from the chaos, I see now as profound.
life-changing.
Visually, the green plants are starting to sprout up from the ash.
In 2025, I think those plants can ultimately touch the sky.
2025, let's go through a few moments.
Moments that felt like the world burning down,
but ended up creating space for exactly what I needed.
Let's start with the passion, the day-to-day work.
Because struggle on some platforms, after all,
a large part of my world is podcasting, storytelling, and video production.
Well, it pushed me to reinvent on other platforms.
And other platforms have blown my expectations out of the water.
It allowed me to connect with millions of new faces and, in a way, reinvent.
2025 kindness to people that have helped.
Either not being reciprocated on an occasion or two
or even being shoved back in my face was disappointing.
I still harbor some of that frustration.
I'm human.
But as I look back, I realized it taught me hard truths about life.
Highlighted the fine line between trust and responsible self-preservation.
Cleared space for more people with good intentions on the same journey.
Expensive mistakes, but value of that magnitude doesn't come cheap.
2025, I am wiser, stronger, and moving into 2026 alongside some of the most incredible souls I've ever encountered.
2025, walking away from the good to pursue the great, seemed to finally pay off.
Saying goodbye to the misaligned ventures that weren't quite right in order to build something meaningful.
That childlike excitement is so telling, and when you find that, you're truly on to something.
But my God, 2025, you have to move so much excess to find it.
Our souls are buried under unbelievable amounts of distraction and noise.
This year, it couldn't be clearer.
When you follow your soul, when you trust your intuition, you can't go wrong.
2025, I want to thank you for those flames that forged me, that made space for so much, that burned so bright I couldn't avoid or look away.
After all, it's often true that when you don't realize or take action, where it should be taken, you know, life has a way of stepping in for you.
Life has a way of shining a spotlight on the road ahead and nudging you through the dark.
2025, as we reminisce, I hope that's what listeners will get from this.
The understanding that growth is incredibly nonlinear.
It's sloppy, chaotic.
Sometimes knowing what you don't want is enough to begin the journey of a lifetime.
Sometimes the strength you are lacking is found amidst the exploitation of your vulnerabilities by hostile actors.
It's not the way you want to arrive there, but at least you arrive.
It's like, oh, there is a crack in the foundation, I better close it, right?
Sometimes good keeps this stagnant for far too long, as we fear and completely ignore the possibility of great.
I think that's why the fire metaphor hits so well.
You can stay locked in a cage of good your entire life.
Why move? Things are good.
Why change? Things are good.
It's not until the forest burns and great begins to emerge from what's left,
that we see greatness was also an option.
That perhaps we'd been selling ourselves a bit short.
There are avenues.
that will be great for your gifts and contributions to the world.
The question is, will you walk down them?
There are people that will act as multipliers to your growth, contentment, and overall well-being.
Will you mitigate the takers and naysayers in order to find them?
There is something out there that will light you up and pull on your soul.
Will you step out of the routine and push-pull of everyday life to see it?
2025 you were the fire of recreation, of reinvention.
You were a wrecking ball and a seed, a burning down and a blank slate.
And most importantly, you were a teacher pointing out that, though they may seem antithetical,
the destruction and the growth are one in the same.
So 2025, thank you for giving me everything I need to build again.
What's up, guys, Eddie here.
And before we jump into the next chapter, just a quick note.
So as many of you know, every single video that I've ever put on this channel has been created with the intent of building momentum in your life.
If you want something physical to anchor that momentum, we've created the brand, AGMS, or all.
Always grateful, never satisfied for that exact reason.
Athletic apparel that embodies the very ideas and concepts I talk about every day.
Because you're watching on YouTube or Spotify, we've created a code for this exclusive community, YWW20.
You can use that on the website, agns.lifestyle.
We're right under this video on YouTube.
All this stuff is there in the shop.
Again, code YWW20 gets you 20% off the entire store.
It's a great way to support.
support the channel and also elevate your journey. Let it be a reminder to keep showing up.
Appreciate your time. Always grateful never satisfied. On to the next.
There's an old idea that once you've started, you're halfway there. How does that make sense?
One might wonder. Once you've started, you've only just begun. And that's true, technically.
But here's the thing.
The journey, the ins and outs, ups and downs, trials and tribulations, they can all be dealt with.
They knock us down from time to time, no doubt.
But we learn, we adjust, and carry on as we move forward.
Most success stories, they're crushed.
Not because of that adversity along the way, but because they never begin.
They never take shape or materialize.
We can't make them real in our heads.
We can't convince ourselves that they'll ever be anything other than fiction.
We think that's for someone else.
We look around and assume that reality is different than my reality.
And overcoming this mental construct,
is always the most challenging step.
And that's saying, the one I continuously find myself coming back to,
human beings always follow through on who they believe themselves to be,
continues to be true.
If you don't believe you're worthy of something,
its pursuit is lost before it began.
So while the mind tries to paint,
pictures of how scary that road is ahead, how it's too different or big or complex.
Understand that should you move forward, you'll find all that complexity can be broken down,
one day, one situation, one little step at a time.
The only real demon here is the possibility of inaction because you couldn't make yourself believe it.
You couldn't see yourself at the top of that mountain.
And so, the front door was never opened.
Emerson says, hits your wagon to a star.
A beautiful reminder that that star is proof your dreams are real.
And only as real as the conviction with which you move towards devil.
Green light, your own glory, your own contentment.
Because contrary to what we might think, no one comes up and bestows that upon us.
To live life fully is a decision.
Decision, Latin root words, cut off.
It's removing and abandoning your restraint in order to be more authentically you.
In order that you'll give yourself permission to chase down that which makes you feel alive
and soak up all that aligns with your heart and soul.
Once you start, you're halfway there.
And oh, that first step, often perceived as the beginning,
but in actuality, a point few ever give themselves the luxury of experiencing.
Step one, believe it's possible.
Step two, believe you're worthy.
Step three, go.
Everything else works itself out.
You're capable of dancing through life's chaos, of managing the world's unknowns.
So know that, understand that, but most importantly, be one of the few who gives themselves
permission to experience that.
And it starts, the hard thing brought me through hell.
but also to that which exists on the other side.
The hard thing prompted me to question and doubt,
but also provided the pieces I used to build my confidence little by little.
It made me ask the tough questions,
the ones maybe I didn't want to hear the answer to,
but also gave me the power to transform those answers I didn't like.
I didn't like. The hard thing meant forfeiting being the expert in my world in exchange for
the role of student in a foreign arena. Gave me new ladders to climb, new possibilities to reach
for. It showed that true growth requires a willingness to be the beginner. It took some people
out of my arms, my circle, my work, and in some cases my life altogether, but always seem to
open the door to those souls better aligned, to those conducive to the journey and the process.
Let's remember what the hard thing is. Beyond the pain, because we all know it does bring that,
Beyond the challenges, because there are certainly many.
Beyond all that exists the hope and the change and the promise.
Robert Frost says the best way out is always through.
Through because it's the chaos, the haze, the darkness of night that shapes us.
It's in being broken that we learn to rebuild our world with the peace.
and perhaps most importantly.
We learn that such a rebuilding process is possible to begin with,
that the now is not mandatory or permanent.
The hard thing, as it turns out, is nothing more than a transaction.
Turbulence for the view above the clouds,
fear in the moment for confidence in the future.
It's learning that although life sometimes appears to paint a
picture of conformity and helplessness.
There's always a path leading to the very place we need to go.
It just asks we find the courage to walk it.
Churchill has said the pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity.
The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.
And this beautiful message rings true.
Because from the difficulty is the advantage.
And sure, our first instinct is to see the problem.
Our eyes tend to initially fix it on that which is unfortunate.
But beyond that is where we get the most incredible things life provides,
as if one is removing the shell or outer layer in order to get to the nutrients in the center,
the ingredients required for growth,
the pieces necessary to experience life at its fullest.
And so we must be reminded that those opportunities,
they're not rare, they're not reserved for everyone but you.
They just tend to disguise themselves
as the things we're most inclined to disregard or walk by.
But if one finds the courage to move into them, through them,
If one can see the difficulty not as a deterrent but as a bargain, they'll be given everything on the other side.
Reality is not changed with the magic wand or the granting of a wish.
It's from staring down the heart thing and moving directly into it one little step at a time.
It's for no one.
Look, the earth will continue to spin, the sun to set, clocks to tick.
There are no perfect moments, only moments, waiting to be interpreted by those passing through them.
And as a raindrop in this thunderstorm, an actor in this play, the only rational question in my mind is if time will not wait, why should I?
If time will continue its steady march, why let it leave me behind?
I'm in my mid-30s, and here's what I've already seen.
I've already seen songs I grew up with, referred to as classic rock.
I've seen some of my childhood sports heroes struggle to throw a first pitch before a baseball game.
I've seen a substantial portion of my social interaction become digitized.
I've seen once forever people in my life fade away and become memories.
I've audibly laughed at the ridiculousness of things that at one point I was sure were important.
I've redefined the meaning of the word home in my life more times than I can count.
In fact, the way I see the world and the way I see myself operating, and it continues to change.
As the saying goes, the only constant.
our lives is that things change, evolve. Why does this matter so much to me? Well, because when I look
back, the single thing that would consistently keep me from truly pushing that pedal to the floor
to truly capturing all life has to offer was a fear, a very specific fear, the fear of losing what I had
at that moment. I was scared to death of loss, as we all tend to be to varying.
extends. In fact, we're biologically wired to respect the fear of loss to a greater extent than the
prospect of acquisition. There's humor in all this, though, a deeply rooted irony. It emerges
when we discover that we lose everything. It all goes. The song that's playing ends for each and
every one of us. And is this a sad thing? No. No more than the credits to your favorite movie
rolling after the final scene. It was the show, the experience that meant the world. It's a
beautiful thing if you let it manifest in all its beauty. If you move along with it, immerse yourself
in its brilliance. My point is that the only way to lose is, you know,
It's to wait.
It's to not realize that you're starring in your own cinematic masterpiece,
and those credits will at some point roll.
It's to sit in a chair on the side of the gym while the rest of the room dances.
Life is finite, and the power is not in a flawless existence.
It's an understanding to our core that there is nothing to lose,
that the window is small, that we should carry out the human equivalent of a fireworks show.
We should be obnoxiously bold, absurdly courageous.
We should go, live, try, experiment, explore, build, create.
And yeah, sometimes you'll fail.
And sometimes you'll fail spectacularly.
But sometimes you'll triumph.
And along the way, the mistakes, they become wisdom.
They become courage.
Both of which are integral to any meaningful grand finale.
And as I make my way around the sun for the 36th time,
the priority is to remember that these rides are not forever.
They are precious.
and that I have the strength to live accordingly.
Fearlessly, courageously, my hope is that you find it within yourself to do the same.
To pull back the curtains and see now that failure was never the adversary.
No, not even close.
The adversary is an unwillingness to make the most of your moment.
The adversary is freezing amidst the constant hammering away of ticking clocks.
The adversary is the prospect of removing failure's mask years down the road, only to stare
directly into the eyes of regret.
These outcomes constitute your greatest adversary.
So for the sake of all that is meaningful, go push into the questions and the risk and the
curiosity that makes life worth living.
After all, it is not about failure.
It's about time.
When you're at your lowest point, you are often without realizing it, positioning yourself
to arrive at your highest point.
energy accumulating to propel you through an atmosphere of new beginnings.
See, I believe our adversity is life asking that we submerge and dive deep, sometimes very deep,
just to remember how badly we need that oxygen above.
So that when we again come up for air and we will, we notice.
the warmth of the sun on our face and the calming sound of the waves crashing on the beach.
You don't make the most of what's around you until you recognize that what's around you
is the opportunity. And so life reminds us. A taxing reminder. Right? It rarely gives without first
taking away. It rarely opens new doors without closing old ones. And that, to put it simply,
can hurt. They don't teach you in school that growth is painful. But as it turns out, a life without
growth isn't much of a life at all. And so we must dive deep. We're given no other choice.
Without night, there is no day.
Without suffering, there is no beauty.
Without those depths below, there is no surface above.
Our submergence is our transformation.
The cocoon that separates who we were from who we will be.
But unlike the butterfly, it doesn't just evolve once.
Our journey requires that we are continuously growing a new pair of wings.
life is chaos.
Life is unpredictable.
Life is hard, but you were built to not only endure in its arena,
you were put here to excel,
to learn the rules and then expand upon the rules.
Sometimes break the rules.
You were put here to take the difficulty
and provide meaning to it.
Peace by piece,
as if it were the construction of a rocket to the moon.
Little pieces of at one point frustration and confusion and chaos
combined, reused, and transformed into exactly what you need them to be.
Emergent properties.
You just have to be willing to see beyond the now and assemble.
To come up for air and soak in all that awaits at the surface
like you've never done.
The other day,
I was texting with a friend of mine.
Out of nowhere, she goes, what's wrong?
And I'm thinking nothing, right?
I haven't said anything.
You know, what do you mean?
She's adamant, right?
She goes, something feels off.
I thought about it.
You realized, yeah, she's pointing out
something I've known for a little bit here.
Something is off.
I'm hiding from myself.
Feel a little burning.
out, a little tired. Certain areas of my life had become unevenly distributed. In fact, I was
flirting with that thing. I've always feared doing most, simply going through the motions.
And that scared me. I don't want this, right? I've come too far to feel like this. I'm better
than this. How do I fix it? How do I solve it now? Figure it out now. But eventually came to realize
the now part just might be the whole problem.
Fix the now, like it's a headache,
and me shaking my fist at the sky will be ibuprofen.
No, battling imperfection is a fool's errand.
It's setting yourself up for disaster.
We are humans, not gods.
We are perfectly imperfect.
And when something is off, don't fight, listen.
don't retract expand
here is the opportunity
I'm under the surface
diving down into the depths of my own soul
hear what it has to say
so that when I come up for air and I will
the sun will warm my face like it never has
the crashing waves will offer a symphony
to my ears that I've never heard
and I'll see that the world I'm taking in is more a reflection of me than of it.
As that saying goes, you don't see the world as it is.
You see the world as you are.
And how lucky to have taken a step back, a trip below the surface,
to realize again that I am the painter, not the critic.
My world had become black and white.
not because we live in a black and white world,
but because sometimes we forget to put the color in.
Sometimes we don't give ourselves permission
to expand beyond the parameters we've created for ourselves.
So with the breath and the oxygen
will come a new appreciation, a liberating gratitude.
There's nothing so sweet as remembering
that both the castles in the air and the chains at our feet are imaginary.
And hey, you get to choose which one to believe in.
See, what time has taught me is that there is strength in our vulnerability.
In the times we fall or lose ourselves.
And I know the inclination is to panic, perhaps assess too quickly,
to not hear but talk, to not listen but attempt to solve,
which leads to the application of band-aids on bullet wounds.
When we are low, when we are lost,
it's our chance to better understand ourselves.
It's the metaphorical equipment room
where we stock up prior to our next ascent.
And if I could emphasize one thing,
it would be that our perceived understanding of life,
it oscillates.
Sometimes we feel like we get it.
We do.
And sometimes we feel like we're sprinting with our eyes closed.
It's a riddle we will never fully come to solve.
But I do know one thing.
We can't change the unpredictability of the world.
But by observing, by listening, by getting back up, we can change ourselves.
By recognizing our strength, we can utilize the downtimes.
as they are the education we've been longing for.
Remember, the world does not and will not ask perfection of you,
so don't ask perfection of it.
You were built to endure, to overcome, and to recreate yourself.
Losing your wings will never be the problem.
It's forgetting that they must be regrown.
That is the problem.
So step out.
Rise to the surface of your world.
and breathe.
Take in the surroundings
that will become your
resurrection story
if you let them.
