Welcome to Your World Within Daily.
I'm Eddie Panero, and in this episode, I want to talk about a quote from William James,
who states, to change one's life, start immediately and do it flamboyantly.
I'm going to talk about why that idea has been so powerful in my life and how, when implemented
in yours, can provide incredible value.
Flamboyant, immediate, or is Tony Robinson to say massive action.
Why is that important?
Because it all has to do with identity change.
Being something different than you were in actions that support.
support that. There's a saying that I love that human beings will always follow through on who they
believe themselves to be. And it's very hard to believe yourself to be one thing if you're not immersed
in it. If you're not all in. It's hard to say you're something if you're on the fence, if you're
tiptoeing, if you're hedging your bets. And so to act immediately, swiftly, to move and then allow
the details to catch up, to be flamboyant about it, confident about it, to own it,
helps you create a new narrative, right? Build a new character, a new story.
You know, again, you can't tiptoe it. You have to become it. And I've talked about that a lot.
You know, it's interesting. It's why I talk about like people that say they're, you know,
mourning people. Oh, I haven't had my coffee. It's before 10. I'm not a morning person.
Oh, I'm an introvert. You know, I would never do well in a row.
I'm like that. And it's like, I get it, right? That's your preference, and it's totally fine.
We all have it. But that's not fact. Right. That is a story that you're telling yourself.
It's what you believe yourself to be, and you'll be that. If you wanted to change it,
you certainly could. You most certainly could, but you'd have to take massive action. You'd have
to create change. You couldn't tiptoe towards that. And that's how a lot of things are in life.
That's why some of the bigger things that I knew I've wanted to do, you know, I've acted so extreme to
the point where it's almost irrational.
You know, most recently, it's like I was living on the beach in Miami and in a span of truly
zero exaggeration, as I've talked about before, 10 minutes.
Decided, nope, leaving, right?
I'm too distracted.
I'm not, my stuff's not going the way I wanted to go.
I'm falling out of the vision, what I want to be and what I want to build.
So you take everything, right?
Central North Carolina in the woods, no distractions.
It's hard for me not to believe that I'm committed.
Hard for me not to believe that I'm a man on fire trying to build something, right?
I don't need anyone else to believe it.
I need me to believe it.
I need the world to be conducive to what I'm trying to build.
And when I look in the mirror, I need it to make sense.
Because that's when I'm most effective.
That's when I'm most proud and just all in.
Again, you can't do much from the fence.
you're either in or you're not.
And that's the way it's always been for me
and that's the way it is for most people.
So this William James quote,
I'm just, I'm all about it.
It's like if you don't want to do it, that's totally fine.
Don't stop thinking about it and do something else.
But if you do, if you really do,
not kind of or you're thinking about it,
if it's something you want to do,
you need to make yourself believe it. It needs to become part of your identity. Otherwise, like so many things,
when the sun comes up and the sun goes down, so will that idea or plan or dream. It's yours or it's not.
And everyone's different. You know, some people can't make that type of jump. Their lives are different.
Some people's goals or priorities don't require that type of jump, but you most certainly can take steps.
You most certainly can make the transition feel more real, more permanent, so that you have some skin in the game.
You're invested.
See, the trick isn't to do something.
It is to be something.
And those actions all have to manifest into who you are and what you're trying to be.
Your actions will always follow your ideas.
identity, right? They are interlocked. That's why if you want to become something,
your actions have to be just as drastic as that vision, otherwise that disconnect will
prevent you from capturing the opportunity that's possible. So, if you want it, be immediate,
be flamboyant, take massive action, and go get what's yours that's out there, and I'm rooting
for you. All right, I hope you enjoyed this podcast. If you did,
