With a fit that creates natural movement and a wide leg that feels modern, not overwhelming. Plus, that signature, wait, for this price, moment. Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg. There's a giant sleeping inside every one of us. Not dead or gone.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Just dated by routine, the normalcy of every day. Comfort, distraction, repetition of days that all kind of look the same after a while. And the dangerous thing about a sleeping giant is that eventually the giant forgets that it's a giant at all. It starts identifying with the cage instead of its strength. With the alarm clock instead of the dream, with survival instead of possibility. You see it every day, right?
Starting point is 00:01:48 People with oceans inside them, speaking in buckets of water, teaspoons. People born to create, lead, move, build, inspire, convincing themselves to, quote, be more realistic. You see it in people standing inches away from a life that would light them on fire. That would totally transform their world. But they never touch it. Because somewhere along the way, they learn to fear their own power. And maybe that's the real tragedy of life. Not the things we usually think of, not failure or embarrassment or loss.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Maybe the real tragedy is reaching the end and realizing that giant, stayed asleep. I remember reading a story once about an old circus elephant. When that elephant was young, they tied its leg to a wooden stake. As a baby, no matter how hard that little elephant pulled, it couldn't break free. So what did it do? The logical thing, eventually it stopped trying. But see, years later, that same elephant weighed thousands of pounds. Powerful enough to uproot trees, let alone that little wooden stake.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Powerful enough to destroy the entire circus if it wanted to. But the trainer still tied it to that same tiny piece of wood. And that elephant never moved. Not because it lacked strength, but because it lacked belief. It didn't understand its power. It didn't understand the giant it was. See, that's most people. Not trapped by reality, but trapped by memories, by limiting beliefs, by stories of not being adequate, good enough, or capable, old identities, old fears, old failures.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Old versions of themselves, they should have buried years. You tried once and got hurt, so now you hesitate, right? You opened your heart once and got betrayed, so now you stay guarded. You chased a dream once and looked foolish, so now you play small. But listen to me carefully. Your past is not proof of your limits. It's merely an indicator of where you chose to stop, and there's a monumental difference.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Because giants, they don't disappear. They sleep. They sleep under disappointment, sometimes under insecurity, or years of distraction and numbness. Make no mistake, they're still there. And every time you feel restless, that's the giant shifting in its sleep. Every time you look at someone fully alive
Starting point is 00:05:01 and feel something ache in your chest, that's the giant recognizing itself, saying there has to be more than this. That's not sadness, my friends, that's a pulse. That's the part of you that remembers, and maybe awakening isn't some massive cinematic moment. Maybe it starts quite subtly.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Maybe it's the morning you stop hitting snooze on your own life. The day you decide to train again, or pick up the pen and write again, the camera and create again, the mic and speak again. It's opening your door and believing again. Maybe awakening is simply refusing to abandon yourself. No, not for even one more day.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Because, yeah, giants wake slowly. First comes awareness. Then discomfort from the dissonance you feel. Then hunger because of the possibility that exists around you. Then one day the things that used to intimidate, you start looking a little smaller and a little smaller and a little smaller. You stop asking permission, stop negotiating with fear, you stop waiting for perfect understanding that perfect doesn't exist.
Starting point is 00:06:32 And suddenly, the same person who once doubted everything becomes dangerous. Not dangerous to people, but to limitations, to mediocrity. Dangerous to that version of you that desperately wanted to settle. that's the moment life changes not when the world finally sees you but when you see yourself because buried beneath the fear and the insecurity and the exhaustion and disappointment
Starting point is 00:07:05 the hesitation underneath all of that there's something enormous inside you a force a fire a sleeping giant and one day if you let it It will wake up. The question is whether you'll wake it intentionally or spend your entire life hearing it breathe beneath the surface.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Wondering what could have happened if you'd answered. What's up, guys? Eddie here. And before we jump into the next chapter, just a quick note. Starting point is 00:08:41 elevate your journey let it be a reminder to keep showing up appreciate your time always grateful never satisfied on to the next today belongs to the architect he sees towers before they pierce the sky, an opportunity, before it transforms into the extraordinary. He knows that what he wants most cannot be given. It must be sculpted. So he builds. He builds because those skylines don't raise themselves
Starting point is 00:09:40 from the earth. The extraordinary does not appear on its own. They are dreamed into existence by the architects of reality the ones who seek not to take from the world but to contribute to it today is the beginning of something new something better something worth remembering and it's existed long before the present moment waiting for your vision your courage your persistence to bring it to life too many times we fail to reach into the realm of what we know
Starting point is 00:10:22 and get more of ourselves. It's okay to struggle, to be wrong, to have to rebuild a thousand times, but the great tragedy is closing our eyes and walking by life's opportunity. Everything you need to rebuild the life you dream of is around you, your every move. If only you'd reach for it,
Starting point is 00:10:53 see it before your eyes do be. become the architect of change. Nothing is impossible when you are the one setting the rules, when your hand draws the guidelines. You are not at the mercy of the world. You are creating it. This is yours. And there will never be a moment like it again. So don't run from it or hope life gives you what you want.
Starting point is 00:11:23 the pieces in front of you and construct your masterpiece. If there's time, then there's time to turn things around. If there is a tomorrow, then there is hope. The only half to bes in life are the ones we prop up and adhere to. And how interesting that oftentimes we don't even realize we're the ones holding them up. There's a simple question that I like to ask as the sun comes up in the coffee brews. Am I living today like it's an obligation or something more? Is it an automatic continuation of the past or a methodical move towards a future that lights me up? And these aren't small distinctions.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Right? I've lived both ways. I've felt. what it's like to feel both. I remember going to work and joking around that a flat tire would be a real treat. That's not accountability. That's not control. That's essentially living life as a jellyfish floating along with the tide. And while the lack of required output, innovation and planning may have felt like a win in the moment
Starting point is 00:13:25 or a burden lifted off my shoulders at the time, deprived me of that which resides in the soul of every human being alive. Purpose. Personal agency. See, you can only go so far, so long, being the spectator of your own journey. You can only go so long looking out the window before you wonder just what it'd be like. to be behind the wheel. When we put our actions up against the question why,
Starting point is 00:14:04 it astounds me how many things are done because it's what we've always done. We act like we're expected to act, think like we're expected to think, see who we're expected to see, but expected by whom? Some of my greatest breakthroughs in life emerged after being asked why by people I look up to or respect.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Why have you accepted that? That's your income? Okay, great, but why? That's how you spend your day? I see how come. And when one is tasked with looking at their own life through a magnifying glass, some hidden truths always emerge. It shines a spotlight in the corner of the room, illuminating those shadows where one can,
Starting point is 00:15:04 if they look hard enough, make out the wolf in sheep's clothing that is the phrase, because that's how I've always done it. We get in life what we accept. We are what we allow ourselves to be, and if we don't ask ourselves which mountain is worth climbing, which ocean is worth crossing we simply float with the tides we're at the mercy of the winds
Starting point is 00:15:36 we forfeit the mastery over our own lives that awaits if we're willing to take that wheel and navigate so here are a few things to take with you first is you are bound by nothing the parameters you exist between are of your making you can get in that car and drive.
Starting point is 00:16:03 You can walk away and begin something new. You can entertain that vision that's been conveniently tucked away in the back of your mind. Understand that to not go is fine, but it's a decision. And perhaps a decision you'll wish you made differently. And second, difficult today liberate you tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:16:32 It's easier to observe. It's easier to say how you wish things were. After all, stepping out into the fast-paced chaotic world is tough. It's scary, it's unpredictable, but it's where you find yourself and the path that's calling your name. It's beyond the pins and needles, emerging as one jumps into the cold water, that they're able to find that evolution. If there's time, then there's time to turn things around. If there is a tomorrow, then there is hope. Spotify, it's Jay Shetty.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Are you one of those media strategy people? Scrolling through spreadsheets, searching for an audience that pays twice as much attention to your ads than they do on social? Let me introduce you to fans. And they're here with me on Spotify. Trust me, I know fans. They don't skip, they stay for hours. They don't move on.
Starting point is 00:17:36 They manifference. They're not a demographic group. They're fans. Spotify advertising. You're among fans. There was a point a handful of years back where I had one of the most important breakthroughs of my lifetime. And I've talked about this with people close to me, family and friends, to clients, business associates. And it seems like there's a commonality amongst all of us. And maybe, depending on the person that has, you know, happened in a different way, certainly at different times. But everyone at one point or another comes
Starting point is 00:18:18 face to face with the realization that they have a tremendous amount of control over their lives. And it's at that moment, you know, where one becomes empowered. It's like you realize you have the key to the cell you've been locked in this whole time. And at that moment, one is prompt to ask, well, why not start living like it? You know, there will always be responsibility and sacrifice in life. But that awareness makes one ask, well, what am I sacrificing for? Where am I going? Am I spending time with people that lift me up?
Starting point is 00:19:07 Am I doing things that contribute to a greater vision? And perhaps most importantly, am I even living a life that is true to my Because I'll tell you something, our time here flies by. Not only will next month, next year, next decade be here before you know it, but it's not even guaranteed. And if one doesn't take the time to look in the mirror and ask the tough questions, life will keep on ticking. Time will not stop.
Starting point is 00:19:41 No one's going to walk up to you and point out the fact that you're just going through the motions here. No, that one's on. you. You have to see that this world can become what you decide it will be. That you are presented the tools, but tools require an architect and a creator. Tools require someone in seeing what is not yet there to pick them up and build. And so maybe this is the time for you to ask what am I building? Where am I going? And when my day starts, both feet hit the ground and I walk out the door. What am I moving towards? Maybe today is the day you realize that
Starting point is 00:20:36 there are parts of your life that don't need to be there, that you can cut away. People that don't deserve your time, that don't elevate you or contribute to your well-being, Maybe there are places you're going because that's where you've always gone. Things you're doing because that's what you've always done. But you don't need to live life on repeat. If you're not happy about it, how about doing something to change it? There is nothing in your life that can't be adjusted or altered. Just like yesterday is now a story, so is the idea that you are confined to a specific.
Starting point is 00:21:18 set of parameters. Break down those walls. See things not as they are, but as they can be if you have the courage to walk away from old stories and characters. What if today you created a new ending, one that lights you up in the morning, contributes to your sense of purpose when you close your eyes at night. Again, remember, no one will come up and hand that to you. No one will let you know you're selling yourself short. That transformation must be internally prompted. And so I hope you'll ask, I hope you'll ask the questions that you've been neglecting for far too long. I hope today can be the first page in an entire new chapter. A chapter in a story that is truly and entirely yours. What is the difference?
Starting point is 00:22:47 When I think back to the first time I deviated from my comfort zone, my routine, I lost the certainty in my life. And as much as I wanted to go back, I remember telling myself one more day, just one more day until someday became the current day and that made all the difference. Day one starting my company. I remember turning the camera on and feeling so lost saying words into a microphone that I almost didn't press record. But I did. Until one day I realized not only was it bearable, it was my purpose.
Starting point is 00:23:33 The vehicle that transported my thoughts to the world and that made all the difference. During the time when some of the projects I invested the most time and energy into flopped, I remember almost saying this isn't for me. But I kept creating. I kept creating until I found that intersection of what I love and what adds value to the world. And that made all the difference. What's crazy is how small a decision,
Starting point is 00:24:11 that difference seems in the moment, how insignificant the decision feels. As one stands and looks out from their doorway, the difference between going and not going, stepping out or staying in, making the move or waiting one more day. That difference is sometimes disguised in a cloak of triviality, but do not be fooled. The little decision to move forward, to hang on when your ego is screaming at you to just let go, walk away, find some semblance of comfort and predictability. Those decisions to endure in the moments of hardship are what we come to look back on as the turning points that reshaped and redefined life as we know it. The courage required to make the call, release the video, register the business, send the message, reconnect with that loved one, deviate from what your friends are doing, all those things. They may seem small enough now to spend a minute or two thinking about before moving on to our routines and what we are comfortable doing.
Starting point is 00:25:29 After all, it's easy to disregard the small things. But the acorn that becomes the oak tree is small. We must, along with the current reality, see the potential in what those things become. And sure, there are times where the present and the ideal are so different that it seems almost incomprehensible. But how do we get there? We get there by making the little decisions that will ultimately make the greatest difference. You were always one decision away from that evolution. So next time you find yourself looking down at the step in front of you,
Starting point is 00:26:12 the step you know in your soul is the right step. Reminds yourself, yes, it sure would be easy to walk away here. It sure would be easy to turn back. Yeah, it's just one tiny step. But in totality, it's exponentially more than that. It's the lifeblood of your new reality. The water to your sea, the oxygen to your lungs, the crossroads in front of you will be, with your permission, the beginning of something larger than life.
Starting point is 00:26:50 It will ultimately be the difference. When you look at, say, dunes on a beach, what you see is something giving itself away little by little. deteriorating. Sure, there will be events that expedite the process, but generally speaking, it's lost a little bit at a time, day by day, right in front of our eyes. Until the time comes when we realize that what we have is no longer recognizable, it's sort of redefined. And I think in a lot of ways we find ourselves. in a similar situation. The concessions we allow every day,
Starting point is 00:27:54 slowly you redefine who we are. You know, and it doesn't seem like much, that's the thing, it never does. Quietly detaching from what you believe. Taking on an identity that doesn't quite align with who you are, doing things, being places that causes something in your gut to protest, toning down. the color in your life so that you blend in.
Starting point is 00:28:22 These are not epic, monumental decisions. It's the drawn-out erosion of what makes you who you are. It's the chipping away of what makes you spectacular. See, the idea that now isn't permanent. So I'll just suck it up now. What's the big deal? I'll just settle for now. Let me tell you, if that's your rationalization,
Starting point is 00:28:47 If that's your rationale, you're forgetting how easily tomorrow becomes never and now becomes forever. We operate under an illusion that things will become easier. That change will be less strenuous down the road. We'll make things right, get back on track, be happy then. But the harsh reality is that things don't get easier than they are at the present moment. It's quite the opposite. and to disregard or ignore this is to let yourself
Starting point is 00:29:21 wither away at the hands of procrastination if you're planning to wait for that get comfortable and see conceding day in and day out it alters your understanding of who you are and what you're capable of our actions reinforce our beliefs imagine a straight line
Starting point is 00:29:44 a simple straight line drawn on a piece of paper, right? You're in the middle. And on one end is who you are, in your heart, in your soul, and on the other end is everything you're not. Every time you sacrifice your principle, your beliefs, every time you say, that's not me, but fine, that's not where I want to be, but okay, it's only temporary, you take a little step toward what you're not.
Starting point is 00:30:11 And another step, and another step. And one day you look in the mirror and you have no clue who's looking back at you. Because you've conceded one small decision at a time. You've given away your sense of purpose. Sure, the situation is difficult. But the best things in life are the things that are not easy. You have to fight for those things. You have to stand up in the face of struggle, adversity,
Starting point is 00:30:43 the narrative that others want to write for you. We stay within guidelines because we think the outside is scary. No, what's inside is scary. What's outside is what you need. And when you stop banking on the anticipated miracles of tomorrow and manage the reality of today, you succeed. It's life's greatest test. Are you brave enough to be you?
Starting point is 00:31:15 Are you strong enough? enough to fight back when you're tempted to hide, to blend in. Every time you summon the courage to stay true to yourself, it gets easier. The difficulty lessons, you become free of the mental chains you've placed around your ankles. There are certain things in life worthy of compromise, but your identity, your journey, what makes you feel alive, that is sacred ground, that is, worth defending until your last breath.
Starting point is 00:31:52 No one can take that because it's yours. And when you look back on your life and the amazing people in it, a life live fully, will always supersede marching through your days, wearing a mask, and following someone else's agenda. It's your life. It's your gift.
