In other words, our relationship with time and how the seconds in our day can be our enemy or our greatest ally. All right, happy Saturday morning.
Starting point is 00:01:26 I hope everyone is not just surviving, but thriving. I have an interesting video that I want to show you today called ticking clocks. Before I do, a quick introduction, kind of a description, the message that I'm trying to get through. it's a little bit, it's a different kind of video. I don't want to say spoken word or poetry, but there's a cadence to it. It's a little bit different. It's not a standard speech. And sometimes hard to decipher, so I've been told. But the idea behind it and the reason I wanted to share it is because it's something that we all relate to, it's our relationship with time.
Starting point is 00:02:03 And, you know, the funny thing about this video is, I think it's, if it's not the last one of the last videos where, you know, I blocked off two days and I just wanted to make it like a full project where I wrote the music. I obviously wrote the speech, recorded this speech, used a lot of my own footage and wanted to be really this piece of self-expression, right? The story that I was living at the moment. And, you know, I don't do it often just simply because it's not scalable. It's very difficult for me to sit down and kind of block off two or three days. But at the time was going through something where it was like, you know, trying. trying to figure out how to make the most of the time we have. And one thing I've noticed is time
Starting point is 00:02:46 just in and of itself, you know, I call it a mercenary in the video being that it's an army for hire. You know, it can be for you. It can be the reason you win or it can literally be your demise, you know, and I just, I'm thinking about all the times where I was unsure and I didn't know what I was doing and I had this anxiety like times ticking away. I feel ticking clocks. I don't want to settle. I want to do something important. I want to make the most out of my life. I just, there's so much out there. And that anxiety and that pressure to just live life like you're supposed to live it in the context of me doing something where I know that I'm not being true to myself or not living it the right way. Right. And then the inverse of that is when you are doing
Starting point is 00:03:36 something you love and you just dive in and then you don't even feel time. You are one with time, right? Moving through the universe, it feels like as one entity, you know, doing something that is significant. And, you know, I, what I've experienced over and over again is that is a decision away. It's a light switch away. It's there. But it's a commitment, you know. And so that's kind of how I gauge, like when I'm doing something and I just, I feel like there are ticking clocks. I feel like time is expiring. It's against me. It's not with me. It's a sign that I need to alter. And what I'm doing, I need to adjust because when you are truly living, you don't notice time. You know, you are in a state of flow. So anyway, this video,
Starting point is 00:04:34 is called ticking clocks. And I hope you enjoy it. I'd love to hear what your favorite line is, or if anything in here resonates with you. For those watching on YouTube, that's easy. For those listening on the podcast, I don't know, have to get a little creative. I'm on Twitter and Instagram at I am Eddie Panero,
Starting point is 00:04:55 and I would love to hear from you. But here's a video. Have an amazing day. And per usual, guys, I will see you. Manana. I see time. escape. From this view, the sun is rising, perfect, just like the day before it. I see people coming and going, making their way into the world. I see the steam rising up from my coffee
Starting point is 00:05:27 cup, disappearing into a sky much bigger than me. I see ticking clocks. I hear times' impatient song. An orchestra of chirping, birds and crashing waves, I hear people comparing and contrasting as they make their way into the world. I hear the sound of my computer turning on. Each key, a tiny rocket ship, making my thoughts tangible and taking them to galaxies undiscovered, I hear ticking clocks. I feel times tough love. the coolness of the breeze against my skin. I feel people's uncertainty and their hope as they make their way into the world.
Starting point is 00:06:30 I feel the paper between my fingers as I turn the page. Converting stories to weapons tucked away for a future battle, I feel ticking clocks. If life is war, time is a mercy. working for you when properly compensated or against you when neglected. And the way I see it, there are two approaches to any predicament. Add your solution or subtract your problem. An invigorated soul has withdrawn.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Detached from all that does not empower. Walked away from everyone's standards and expectations but their own. See, ticking clocks are individualized symphonies. They blend into the background and become the cadence to your triumphant march. When you have immersed yourself and that what you love, time is your heart beat. And when you have not, it's a subtle warning sign. Whispering of roads untravelled and gifts unopened, singing reminders that you must realign that time can't be stopped.
Starting point is 00:07:49 It's loyal to no person when you find yourself fighting to remember how precious the moment or beautiful the day It's not a lack of time but a lack of direction You're fighting an enemy that would become an ally for the small price of passion and clarity That's the North Star to be followed Because beauty beauty is seeing ticking clocks not as a dwindling resource but as a flowing river and happiness is hearing ticking clocks. Not as a finite melody, but as the breeze that you are back as you float downstream. And perfection, perfection is feeling ticking clocks. Not as an obligation or imposition, but as a once and a lifetime journey. A metronome for you to
