Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost. What's up, guys? I'm Eddie Panero. Welcome to your world within daily. Happy Friday. Even though I guess realistically, not much separates Friday. From Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday, or Monday, everything's kind of blending together.

But listen, there's something special about a Friday. So let's enjoy it. I started this podcast off with one of my favorite quotes by Robert Frost, a decision. Like I mentioned in previous podcasts, the etymology of the word, decision, decide to cut. So to decide to pave your own path means to cut out the conformity, the pressure, the need to be long. I'm reading, start with why by Simon Sinek. And there's a really cool story in there about, you know, however many, many. years ago, an American in a Japanese car manufacturing plant, like on the assembly line. And he's

looking at the end of the assembly. And, you know, he asks one of the Japanese workers, he's like, I'm a little confused. Why is there no, you know, mallet to just tap the door and make sure it's in firmly? Like, how do you guys ensure that that door is in place? And the Japanese manufacturer or one of them says, you know, we do that at the beginning, right? We do that during the engineering process. There's no need to tap the thing and push it in and make sure it's there. It's designed to fit. And I loved that metaphor because, and it's one of these things again where there's a lot of different meanings, a lot of different takeaways, but the lens I looked at it is exactly the...

the story that Robert Frost paints, right? If you go left, you're worried about conformity. If you worry about fitting in, not standing out, living according to external guidelines, you're taking that mallet and you're making sure you fit into a space that already existed, that was already created. Now, on the other hand, a life of intention, purpose. That's engineering a door right out of the gate that will fit

into wherever you place it. There's no manipulation to conform to the world. There's no bending or manipulating. It is the right thing because it is your thing. And, you know, that's the way that I want to live my life. That's the way, you know, I think we should all live our lives. I got a question yesterday during a little mastermind we did. You know, someone was asking about the potential opportunities that this situation might create for entrepreneurs.

And, you know, while I applaud, you know, the instant. to find the opportunity, right? That's what I'm all about. It also made me think, well, you may be missing the point. It's very difficult to identify something that will make money and then work backwards. Create an entire infrastructure around that. It's just a hollow goal. It's a hollow purpose, versus doing something you're passionate about. And the reason is simple, right? It's not the cliche, you know, go follow your dreams, kids. It's truly because, life is hard because starting a successful business is hard because succeeding is hard because doing anything right is hard life is hard and what you find if your heart is not in something your soul is

not in something the second things become difficult you put your cards down you say nope no thank you right and it's not because you know you don't have have what it takes or you're not good enough. It's because your heart's not in it. There's always a point where the cost becomes more than we want to pay. And the question is, where do you place that, right? Edison worked on a thousand light bulbs before he got one to work. Now, if he wasn't passionate about that, if he was going through the motions, in what world is he incentivized to go past failure number 50 or 100 or 150? That's the reality. That's where most people miss the mark. Right? If you're in something for just money and you fail 500 times,

you're probably going to pivot and do something else. You're going to find other ways to make money. That's why the innovators, the people that shape our world, are truly in something. I think even as a quote, right, I didn't fail however many times. I've just found, let's pick a number. I didn't fail a thousand times.

I just found a thousand ways that didn't work. It's a pursuit for him. It's a journey for him. He'll pay any price because that's his life. And that is the difference. Being passionate isn't a cliche. It's not Michael Jordan in a McDonald's commercial at the free throw line. It's actually how success works. It's how we accomplish things. The path on the right, higher resistance, but more meaning versus the left. I talked to one of my producers. about the difference between simply checking a box and truly being invested in something. It's impossible to be good if you're checking a box. It's impossible to do the bare minimum and be great because the excitement, the energy, the what if we do it this way, the, you know, how can we make it better? How can we do it different? That only comes if you love something.

You only do that research, that exploration if you care. And if life is a metaphorical checklist for you, there's going to be none of that innovation. You're going to check the box so you can move on to the things that you do care about. And so Robert Frost, looking at that fork in the road, provides a decision. Do you go left? Do you conform? Do you take the easy road? The one that everyone takes so that you don't have to deal with the ups and downs of life.

You don't have to pay the higher price and do the research and the exploration. You don't have to give more of yourself. You can check boxes. You can blend in. Or do you take the path on the right where you follow your heart, your passion, you create a world that means something to you, and take responsibility for the ups and the downs that come with it? What he's saying is he took the path on the right, the challenging one, but the rewarding one. because I promise when you're going to bed at night

or you're looking at yourself in the mirror, you want someone looking back at you that stands for something that's excited, that's invigorated, that sees life as an opportunity to grow and to progress and to explore, not hide. So today, let's all take one step forward down that path on the right,

not because we're supposed to or because people would appreciate it or because it checks off a box but because it means something to us because we're excited about it that's where the magic is have an awesome day guys i'll catch you on
