Starting point is 00:00:00 For a few years in the 1970s, the Mr. Asia syndicate made millions. Heroin creates its own market. It acts like a form of plague. Until jealousy, betrayal and murder brought it all crashing down. Clark would have threatened him. Go and kill him. If you don't, I'm going to kill you and your wife and your son. Brie is scrolling TikTok at the moment.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Just watching some stuff from the VMAs and Eminem's performance and he's got a wig on. Oh, can I see? It's meant to be like obvious, eh? Yeah, it is. Yeah, yeah. It kind of looks like Zayn from One Direction. Yeah, a little bit. Why is he performing?
Starting point is 00:01:06 Oh, because he's back, I guess. What the heck is that wig? Has he won? Do you know Katy Perry won the Video Vanguard Award today? Surely Eminem has won it. Surely he's won it by now. Sorry, full name. The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs.
Starting point is 00:01:22 What is that award for? It's like the Lifetime Achievement Award. Oh. He hasn't already won it? That's what I'm asking. Has he won it before? I don't know. Pink's won it. What's Vanguard? Vanguard means like... Iconic?
Starting point is 00:01:38 Yeah, I guess. It's an artist. Yeah. Who would have seen their paintings. That's Van Gogh. No, that's the people that look after the paintings. The Vanguard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Vanguard, the Van Goghs. I was trying to play jokes on that one.
Starting point is 00:01:51 You're trying to get me with you. Well, I wasn't smart enough to get your joke, okay? This is so tricky. Why are you guys in here? Because it's noisy out there. Do you not want us in here? Why is that? Is there a party out there?
Starting point is 00:01:59 No, it's just suspicious when you come into our space. Who's having a party out there? I don't know. They're making cocktails, though. It's the thing that we got asked to do. That they said no to. No, you come into our space. Who's having a party out there? I don't know. They're making cocktails, though. It's the thing that we got asked to do. That they said no to. No, you didn't say no. They asked us to do it.
Starting point is 00:02:11 And last year we did it. And someone... Okay, we can talk about this. Last year we emceed this thing. We judged a cocktail competition for work. Which, fun. Yeah, fun. For some fun people.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Except for one lady. Who took it real serious and got real personal to us when we didn't pick her cocktail as the winner yeah yeah and then made us feel real bad and then like kind of bullied us it's a fun night so we said we're not doing it this year i think she had too many of her own cocktails yeah she had a few too many drinks she's trying to joke but couldn't she got high off her own supply. You know those people, though, let's just be real. I used to be one of these people and then I feel like I've chilled out a lot. But you know those people as adults where, are you doing a fluff?
Starting point is 00:02:54 Yeah. Are you tooting over there? Sorry, my tummy's been sore all day. You know those people as adults that get super, super competitive and then they make it weird? Yeah. Like Clint. Nah.
Starting point is 00:03:09 I mean, we all have our moments. Let's be real. We all have our moments. We all have our moments. You know there's people, like especially in friend groups where you're like. You just have to be the best at everything. Just careful of blah, blah, blah or you have to tiptoe around them if they lose because they get real angry about it.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I don't know if I am that person or have been that person in the past, but you definitely have chilled out. I've chilled out, eh? Oh, so much. So much. In what way? I'm so much happier now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:35 In exactly that way. In where, like. I just don't care as much. I just don't have fun and I want to be competitive. And that's important. Yeah, right. Figuring out that line. It's important.
Starting point is 00:03:45 It's still a part of my personality. Doesn't it make everything more fun? Yeah. The world will still go on these days if I don't win. Exactly. And I can actually have some fun. Ella hasn't yet. No.
Starting point is 00:03:59 She hasn't. It must come with age because Ella, look at that skull. You're hectic, man. You're super hectic. No, okay. Here's the situation. You're heckers. I grew up.
Starting point is 00:04:08 My sister was the crazy competitive. Shut up. My sister was the game. You're a dick. My sister was the competitive one. She'd low-key cheat Monopoly. And so the attention was on that. I didn't really care.
Starting point is 00:04:21 And then coming into this show, I've kind of found like, oh, it's quite fun being competitive and winning. That's it. Winning. It's fun to win. It's fun to win. I would say Ella's the most competitive person on the show. I'll take that. It's just a phase. I'll grow out of it. But it has lasted about two years now. Well, yeah. I think it's only getting worse.
Starting point is 00:04:40 I think it might be. It's getting louder. Well, take me to like an escape room or something. It's fun though, we should put her in more competitive environments Please do, I really want to learn about this Like that running race, we should find Ella's perfect match and get her to race them Perfect competitor
Starting point is 00:04:55 I remember speaking of Because I was a tiny bit slower Why am I coming last? That race brought out the worst in people. Honestly. I feel like we all had nearly a mental breakdown of that race. I did cry, yeah. A friend of mine, I remember, like I recall this moment,
Starting point is 00:05:13 we all went away, like a group of us, like friends, and we were all playing Monopoly Deal and something happened in the game and this one friend of ours, like this is recently, this is like recent, threw a complete tantrum. Oh, no. About something that someone did. And it just, you know when it makes it awkward? Yeah, when the room just changes.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Yeah, and I'm kind of like, and then everyone just wants to let them win so that it's not awkward. Have you ever been in trouble with your partner? Because I was playing Settlers of Catan once and I kept like, not targeting my partner, but not like, I wasn i wasn't helping oh that is definitely a thing i got the cold shoulder like that night it was like i can't believe you did that so are you a couple that has to help each other in in those games we are now my my partner and i just run at each other. Like it's our goal to take each other down. I just had an idea. And it's back to the running race thing.
Starting point is 00:06:10 I think deep down. Don't make me do it again. Well, I think deep down I'm gutted that I didn't get to race anybody. Oh, we all knew that. We all knew that. You can race Ross. No, I don't want to race Ross. What if we challenged other radio stations to a running race?
Starting point is 00:06:23 And we said to them, put your fastest person up, and we have a 100-meter dash, and there's eight lanes, and we have eight representatives from eight different radio stations, and we find out who's the fastest radio station. Do you want one from each station? Well, you're not finding out who the fastest radio station is then. Why? You're just finding out who's the fastest person from each station.
Starting point is 00:06:44 If you wanted to find out who the fastest show station is then why just finding out who's the fastest person from each station if you want to find out who the fastest show is you do a relay oh i love that idea that's what it is yeah yeah oh my god fun because it's a team there's a recession the relay teams are getting smaller and smaller it's just two people yeah um yeah relay is a good idea yeah or you'd have to do prelims like within your stations to figure out who is the fastest. Okay, let's think about our rivalries across the road, right? So there'd be Sharon, Sean... And Steph. Steph.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Are we including producers? Yeah, and their producer... Oh, they would probably win. Nah. I can't imagine. I can't imagine. No offense, Sharon. Sharon is just as competitive as you. But I can't imagine she'd be faster than me.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I'd smoke that bitch. Bring it, Sharon. Sharon's got some Timaru mongrel in her, though. She wouldn't go down without a fight. I have Stanthorpe mongrel. Yeah, that's pretty good. And I've got, actually, this is probably what it'll come down to. How tall is she, you reckon? About
Starting point is 00:07:48 your height? No. She's more like my height. She's more like Claudia's height. You and Claudia are the same height, aren't you? No, absolutely not. She's taller than me. Way taller. It goes me, Claude, then Bree. All women are the same height to me. Oh my goodness. All women who are shorter than me are the same height.
Starting point is 00:08:04 Oh, I see. So all of us that are shorter than you mean nothing. You can't even see different heights. You're all short to me. Oh my goodness. All women who are shorter than me are the same height. Oh I see. So all of us that are shorter than you mean nothing. You can't even see different heights. You're all short to me. We're all the same. If we raced Maddie
Starting point is 00:08:11 and PJ we would win. We'd smoke them. Yeah we would win. They are runners. We would lose to them long distance. We're not talking about long distance.
Starting point is 00:08:19 That's boring. Actually I think I'm a long distance runner. We would beat the Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley show. You reckon? 100%. I don't know. Yeah I think so. I'm a long distance runner. We would beat the Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley show. You reckon? A hundred percent.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Oh, I don't know. Yeah, no, I think so. I reckon we would take them. We should do, that's what we should do. I reckon we challenge breakfast. Yeah, we can do that, yeah. I reckon that'd be quite a show. And I reckon it'd be great to finally beat them in something.
Starting point is 00:08:40 We'll get them until the end of the year. We'll get them until the end of the year to prepare. We should lay out the challenge. Yeah. This is the challenge. I know what we do. What? I know what we do.
Starting point is 00:08:52 What? We're about to do that partnership with New Balance. We give them each a race kit and we say, here's everything you need. Meet us at this place on this date. This time. Do some stretches. Yeah. It's going down. Yeah, bring some tissues. A gallon timber. Because us at this place on this date. Do some stretches. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:05 It's going down. Yeah, bring some tissues. A gallon timber. Because you're going to go home crying. You're babies. You big bitch. Bring it. So wait, let's just do the math on this.
Starting point is 00:09:16 So Fletch, Vaughn and Hayley. Fletch is by far the fastest on the show. He would be pretty quick. Yeah. I reckon. And he's quite fit. Like he goes to the gym a lot. I reckon he'd be our biggest competition.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Yeah. Vaughn. Vaughn's got very thin chicken legs. But I think he'd be deceivingly quite fast. Okay. Yeah. Hayley. Oh yeah. She's quite athletic. Is she? I reckon she would be. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Can I ask? Clint. Do you think you could beat Bree in a race, in a foot race? Well, I wasn't given the – I don't know. I wasn't given the opportunity. How fast do you reckon you could run? I don't know if I can sprint anymore. It's quite confronting. I really hurt myself.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Can I say very confronting because I had not sprinted like that in a long time. Yeah, I would need some time to build up to it. I reckon if you and I – I ended up walking into a pole recently, okay? If you and I both – let's say we both had six months to train. Six months? Then I believe I could beat you on stride alone. To the end of the year.
Starting point is 00:10:20 He does walk fast. See, stride isn't all that matters because I had the longest legs and Ella beat me and she's teeny tiny. That's true. Left you in the dirt. You really did. That is true. We're getting competitive again, guys.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Can we do another race? No. I want to challenge. See, no, I only want to challenge breakfast if we think we can win. I need a different outfit. The track suit, even though it was a track race. The track suit. The track suit.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Yeah. Switch, switch, switch, switch. I could hear exactly where you were. I was like, Claudia's way behind. Well, if you listen to both of our shows and you have an opinion on who you think would win, and who you think the fastest on each show is, can you tell us on the Facebook group? We need to figure out if this is a good idea.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Because I agree, we only challenge them if we think we can win. Yeah, you don't want to go in there. We're looking to humiliate ourselves. Imagine we're like, we challenge you and then we get spanked. But then would they accept the race if they didn't think they could win? Yeah, but it's okay because they're not challenging. You know? So it means you're the underdog then. There's not as much pressure on it if you're not the one throwing the challenge out.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Oh, I know, I know. We race them for the time slot. It's like on that episode of Friends where they change departments. Race them for the time slot. The winner gets to decide whether of Friends where they change departments. Race them for the time slot. The winner gets to decide whether they do the breakfast show or the afternoon show. I'm going to throw the match. So they would have to put one of their producers up to run as well.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Yeah. Because there's 4v4. Oh, wait, we're doing it. Or we could put one of our producers, Ella, and do 3v3. Or one of us runs twice. On a relay. Oh, relay. Nah. Shotgun not going twice. Or one of us runs twice. On a relay. Oh, relay. Nah.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Shotgun not going twice. Shotgun. Shit. All right, it's a work in progress. We'll figure it out. It's got legs. It's got legs. down.
