Starting point is 00:00:00 For a few years, in the 1970s, the Mr Asia syndicate made millions. Heroin creates its own market. It acts like a form of play. Until jealousy, betrayal and murder brought it all crashing down. Then he just pulled out a gun, shot her in the back of the head, and then said to Wayne, you're going to help me bury her. This is Mr Asia, A Forgotten History. All episodes now available on iHeartRadio, Apple, Spotify
Starting point is 00:00:27 Or wherever you get your podcasts The ZM Podcast Network You used that intro yesterday Yeah, well, suck it, okay? It's Friday Someone's in a good mood Woohoo! You used that intro yesterday. Yeah, well, suck it, okay? It's Friday. Someone's in a good mood. Woohoo! I am in a good mood. This is the last thing we're doing.
Starting point is 00:00:50 And then we're going to a shared dinner, and then we're going to a concert together, and everybody is surprised that I am actually attending to the point that people followed up with me today, and they're like, are you definitely coming? And I am definitely coming. I'm definitely coming. I felt like I was there when that happened.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Yeah, yeah. I'm going to be there. And it will be fun because I am there. Yeah. I totally get that from your energy you just had in saying it. I don't go to things anymore. It doesn't really work for me with young children. Also where you live children and I live
Starting point is 00:01:26 a long way out so it is I definitely don't socialise the way that I used to socialise. Do you not want to go? No I want to go. Because you don't have to. You don't want to. I want to go. But if you don't want to go it's okay. I'm excited to be going. I just don't want you to force yourself to go.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Claudia's making me go to a mall and pick up a package for her beforehand though. And now I feel like I'm only invited because I'm an errand boy. to force yourself to go. Claudia's making me go to a mall and pick up a package for her beforehand, though. And now I feel like I'm only invited because I'm an errand boy. You'll go to the mall regardless. And I really appreciate it. Did you feel a little bit of peer pressure because you knew where we were all going? Oh, it's just the phone number. And we were having a fun dinner and it sounded really fun.
Starting point is 00:02:01 And did that make you want to go more? Not in a peer pressure way just in a way that i thought that made it sound more fun yeah that was the wrong word yeah in a in a FOMO kind of way no i don't get FOMO don't you well how god do i do i get FOMO of course you do everyone does i get that feeling if i go on instagram and this is why it's so good being off social media for a bit if i see my friends doing something that I wasn't invited to, I get that awful feeling. That's FOMO!
Starting point is 00:02:31 No, I would define FOMO as you have the opportunity to go but you didn't and then you have, no FOMO is what makes you go to something. The fear of missing out is what makes you go to it. You can't get F is what makes you go to it. You can't get FOMO when you're not there.
Starting point is 00:02:50 That's MO. Missing out. Yeah, the fear of missing out prevents people from... Reality of missing out. Yeah, it's ROMO. ROMO. That's I am MO. I am MO. I am missing out.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Anyway, we're getting too deep Well you don't have to go if you don't want to I want to go to Benson Boone You can still pull out The hardest bit is that Bri and I Talked so much shit about Benson Boone back in the day Yeah you really did First album Benson Boone
Starting point is 00:03:17 Mega shit We talked mega shit about it And then the second album Won us over completely Wait did you say the first album? Mega shit. No, we talked mega shit about it. I stand by it. Actually, actually, can we go back and listen to some of the songs
Starting point is 00:03:33 where we used to say. They were all the sad ones. We used to call them. Oh, here comes another Benson Boone wounder. We used to call it. No, I won't say that. Sunday morning, what's your favorite? No. We used to call it a... No, I won't say that. Oh, it's great.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Nah. Okay, if he performs this, you're not allowed to sing along. And I won't. Yeah, to be honest, it doesn't do all that much for me. Like his new stuff. Oh. Ayo. Ayo. Ayo. Even though it's only church where we were going
Starting point is 00:04:05 Is this Ella's piano recital? Yeah What's this one? Oh, love it! Wounder Anyway, that's not the point We are celebrating We love him now
Starting point is 00:04:22 The fact that we are big boonies We love the new stuff. I just never want him to know what we used to say. This is our Benson Boone. This is what we like. I feel like it's two different people, to be honest. It's because... Is there a line about his first two albums?
Starting point is 00:04:43 It's also because at the time when Benson Boone had his first songs on It was COVID It was COVID and we also had What's His Face Who had Wounders on the radio as well Oh, the Dead Dead song? Oh, the Aussie? No, no Dean Lewis?
Starting point is 00:05:01 No Oh, Lewis Capaldi Yes Oh, the other Lewis Lewis Capaldi. Yes. Oh, the other Lewis. Lewis Capaldi is the hardest one to get your head around because he is fantastic. Like, I love him. And his songs.
Starting point is 00:05:10 And his first two or three songs, fantastic. And he's so funny and engaging and he's such a great singer. But why are all of the songs like that? They're all a bit wounding, which I can tell. It's obviously he wasn't in a good place. Yeah. You know? Hopefully he's getting himself right. True.
Starting point is 00:05:25 That was unfair of me to say. But I was not able to enjoy his music for very long. Yeah. There is a time and a place for a sad song though. There definitely is. 100%. Alone in your car. Not four times an afternoon on a radio show that we have to listen to.
Starting point is 00:05:43 I didn't make you guys listen to it that much. Yeah, that's fair. It's our fault for the job that we do. Me too. He's a good lad. He's so funny. He's going to come back and do dance music, I bet. He's going to do a collab with Becky Hill.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Becky Hill and Lewis Capaldi. It'll be a bop. I watch them late at night. Hold me while you rave. I watched late at night the comprimations of Lewis Capaldi and all his funny moments. He's so funny. He's so good.
Starting point is 00:06:15 If he's singing career. Him on Graham Norton's show is so funny. Yeah, the Graham Norton one with the Fifty Shades of Grey joke. Yeah. He's good. If his singing career doesn't work out, he could do stand-up. Honestly, he should. He really Yeah. Yeah. That's good. If his singing career doesn't work out, he could do stand-up. Honestly, he should. He really should.
Starting point is 00:06:26 He really should. Slay. Slay. Wait, question. Are you guys going crazy tonight? No, we got the races tomorrow. I have to drive home. All right.
Starting point is 00:06:36 I'll get lit. It's fine. Two drinks. We got to go. I got to go pick up Claudia's training bra from the mall. Oh, you're finally wearing one. Yeah, just a little tiny one. And I'm on sour cream for the party, so I need to pick that up as well.
Starting point is 00:06:49 We'll come up with an excuse for when you decide not to come. Oh, can you get – I am coming. You just send us – You give us the word. Even just send us like a thumbs up and we'll know that you've gone home. He feels so – You say it for personal reasons.
Starting point is 00:07:01 And we will tell – Clint's got a sore tummy. We'll tell Mikal, who's having a, so graciously. He's trying on my bras. He's got a concussion. How funny is a man with a sore tummy? What a sore tummy. I'm with a sore tummy.
Starting point is 00:07:16 How bad's a sore tummy? How bad's a sore tummy? Horrible. I want you, I need you, old man. Thanks for a fun first week back, everybody. We'll catch you back next week. See ya. Love you, bye. This Thanks for a fun first week back, everybody. We'll catch you back next week. See ya. Love you, bye.
