Starting point is 00:00:00 The ZM Podcast Network. Hi everybody, welcome to the After Party Podcast with Brodie Kane. She's here till Easter and then we're having Easter and then we're all taking a day off and then Bree comes back on the Wednesday. Yeah, that's what's happening. Oh, that's nice. Starting point is 00:00:34 What do you mean that you're having a day off? Hang on a minute. So no one had told the producers. Wait a damn minute. But there's not a single person here to do it. Do you want to do the show by yourself on Tuesday? Do I have to press things? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:44 I'm not very good at that. Well, we're probably still going to be here, so I can press some things. Oh, yeah, I can do the show by yourself on Tuesday? Do I have to press things? Yeah. I'm not very good at that. Well, we're probably still going to be here, so I can press some things. Oh, yeah, I can do the show. I'll teach you how to do it, and then you can do it. I'll upskill you. I don't think you can teach me in a day. Yeah. You reckon?
Starting point is 00:00:55 Plants job's not that hard. Yeah, I need you to not do it. Oh, yeah. So that what I do looks harder, and I look more indispensable. I'm actually available. You swan in here and do my job by yourself. Then you're in trouble, eh? I'm actually available.
Starting point is 00:01:10 It's like when they get AI to write the articles. Yeah, I know. A robot can just do that? Yeah. Still can't make hands, though. No, AI can't make hands look good. What? Yeah, it's one of AI's main failings.

Yeah. Yeah, no. I'm looking in. It was coke. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:52 I want to say either $6.90 or $7.90. I feel like it's, and I'll say $7.90. She balked at the price. That's why she's brought it to the table. I'm so upset by it. So. Yeah, well, I'm saying $9.50. But then she went, oh, whoa, and you said $9.50. No, I think I'm right.
Starting point is 00:03:04 I don't know. I'm going to say $8. Yeah, it was like $9.50. But then she went, oh, whoa, and you said $9.50. No, I think I'm right. I don't know. I'm going to say $8. Yeah, it was like $9.60. Yeah. I loved it. And I was like, ah! And I already licked it

Starting point is 00:03:37 The hot dude Yeah And she's hot It was really funny My type of movie Glen Powell That's the one I love it
Starting point is 00:03:44 I love it. I love a rom-com. And I'm so glad, oh, sorry. I'm so glad they're back. That rom-coms are back? Yeah. I don't know if Sidney Sweeney doing a rom-com means that rom-coms are back. Had they left?
Starting point is 00:03:56 Had they? Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. So we've got the Marvel, the superhero. That was a whole thing. Cars, that's a whole thing. We've got action. We've got mystery.
Starting point is 00:04:03 We've got everything. Do you mean like Fast and Furious cars, not like Ka-chow? No. Oh, okay. a whole thing. We've got action, we've got mystery, we've got everything. Do you mean like Fast and Furious cars, not like Ka-Chow? No. Oh, okay. Lightning McQueen. Oh, sorry. Has someone got facts to back up? Where's the rom-coms? Ella's right. The great era of rom-coms was the
Starting point is 00:04:19 2000s with the Judd Apatows and the... Proposal, we had 10 Things I Hate About You. Yeah, fair. Everything. proposal we had 10 things I hate about you yeah fair have we had a bit of a break have we yeah actually the holiday bloody love actually all of the greatest rom-coms came out pre-2013 I think yeah okay and do we know why well I don't know why I feel like everyone just jumped on and investing in Marvel and you know superheroes that was for ages and I just think they tried to do like cheap rom-coms on I don't know why. I feel like everyone just jumped on and investing in Marvel and, you know, superheroes. That was for ages.
Starting point is 00:04:49 And I just think they tried to do, like, cheap rom-coms on, like, Netflix. Terrible. Like the cheap Christmas ones. Yeah, nah. Didn't work. Has anyone watched that new Lindsay Lohan one on Netflix? No. I watched the trailer and I was like, that's enough. Who agrees with me?
Starting point is 00:05:02 One of the greatest, one of the greatest rom-coms Of all time Ready for it? I didn't say the one But one of the Would have to be 10 Things I Hate About You Yes
Starting point is 00:05:18 Yes I watched it at Christmas Emotion Give me emotion A plot line. Funny. I've seen that one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:28 So good. It's actually really good. Did she go, he went on to big things. Did she go on to do much? Yes. Because she was phenomenal. She was in something recently, wasn't she? She was in the, she was, you're right.
Starting point is 00:05:40 She did a couple of those dancing ones, you know, like when the. Step up two dust streets. Bring it on. Was it? I don't know. Oh, she was in Bring it on. She was a couple of those dancing ones, you know, like when the- Step up two dust streets. Bring it on. Was it- I don't know. Oh, she was in Bring It On. Hey! She was in-
Starting point is 00:05:49 Was she? Have I made that up? I don't know, but I was in that musical. Were you? Yeah, three days. I was- Get this. I was an ensemble three days before the main show.
Starting point is 00:05:58 One of the main girls gets cut. Drama. I step up and take the lead. I'm crumping in front of my youth pastor. Oh! Oh! Oh! Fucking hell. This is outstanding. I step up and take the lead. I'm crumping in front of my youth pastor. Fucking hell. This is outstanding. I would pay good money to go to the Ella Church production of Bring It On. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:06:13 It was full on, like community theatre. I had a solo. It was called Save the Last Dance. That's it. She's been in the Bourne movies as well. She was in Hustlers too. Bourne Supremacy, Silver Linings Playbook. Was she?
Starting point is 00:06:29 Oh, okay. Well, I take it all back. Hustlers. She was in Dexter, The Lake. Yeah, she's cool. She's cool. She recently just reread that monologue she did at the end of 10 Things I Hate About You, and she cried again.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Oh my gosh and i'm sorry i just and every time i say that i know clint looks like his eyes are about to glaze over no no no i was just thinking about how cool heath ledger's smoking was in that movie but also just made me want to smoke this is the thing when cool people smoke this is not pro smoking by the way and i don't smoke but when cool people people smoke, fuck, I want to smoke. Tommy Shelby makes me want to smoke. Yeah, Peaky Blinders, you're like, get a dart in me. Don Draper makes me want to smoke.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Heath Ledger in that movie makes me want to smoke. Weirdly, Heath Ledger as the Joker doesn't make me want to smoke, so it must be like an attractiveness thing when you put it with someone who's attractive doing cool things, and that's the power of... That the the danger as well with like shows like euphoria yeah they make drugs kind of like a little fun and cool just a little bit and you're like oh no yeah but oh no do you know what never looks cool no matter who's doing it where lung cancer vaping have you. Have you seen a movie
Starting point is 00:07:47 where someone's vaping and it looks cool? And it's funny, if we're going this deep into film and techniques and things that they use, we're watching The Gentleman at the moment.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Yeah. And have you noticed that the idiot brother, because they want you to keep identifying him as the stupid one and as the fuck up up he's always vaping i know he's always sucking on one of those disposable vapes with a little light on the end and which um are sometimes referred to as a douche flute
Starting point is 00:08:16 it literally is though so silly i i heard another technique sorry just, last one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If they want to make someone look not powerful or not authoritative in a film or, like, silly, any of those things, they'll make them ride a bike. No cool – and once you realise that, it's fucking wild. Sex education. No – yes. I just want a bike. They want to look vulnerable and a bit dorky. Is it dorky? No cool person. Your mate on One just want a bike. They want to look vulnerable and a bit dorky. Is it dorky?
Starting point is 00:08:45 No cool person. Your mate on one day rides a bike. Emma? She rides a bike. She rides a bike. Not anymore. Because they want her. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:09:00 True, you're actually right. For example. No, I'm kind of right. No, when the kid Saves E.T. and they're on the bike What? Are you kidding? I haven't watched that yet
Starting point is 00:09:13 Get in the bin That was I've never seen E.T. either No, you're not telling the truth now, are you? You don't know this about me, but I've seen no movies I've seen no movies You're very good with the series, but not movies You want to see me ball? E.T. now are you? You don't know this about me but I've seen no movies Oh god You're very good with the series but not movies
Starting point is 00:09:27 You wanna see me ball? E.T. Oh god Uncontrollably I think it punches me more as an adult That bit when he phones home and that bit when he wears a blanket When he's unwell
Starting point is 00:09:42 I'm like oh my god We haven't seen it either the alien yeah and the little girl oh it's so good just to be clear riding a bike's not cool no no no no no no just in movies hollywood okay it's a technique for example like what's that movie that we all watched about the zombie apocalypse last year? Last of Us? End of the World. And they're trying to find a way cross-country after everybody has died and none
Starting point is 00:10:14 of the cars work because they can't get batteries or fuel. Do you know how many fucking bikes there would be lying around? But not once did they pick up a bike. They couldn't go anywhere until they found a car or a horse. They could have just ridden bikes cross country. But they don't. But they don't because in a movie, that's what losers do.
Starting point is 00:10:30 I love this chat. This is so exciting. I rode my bike to a craft brewery the other day, guys. Perfect. I rode my bike to the pub. We've got to go. My phone's ringing. I've got to go wheeze too.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Can we return to this next time? Please out, guys. Sure. See ya. Bye.
