G'day guys, welcome to the Brian Clint After Party featuring Maddie McLean.
Sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick.
Clint away again today, sick.
So Maddie McLean stepped up
Joined us it was a fun show
I think it's man flu
I mean I haven't been concerned
Enough to actually message him and check in
With him
You know how there's certain people
That when they're sick
You would definitely message them because they're never
Sick and they never call in
Sick to work
He ain't one of those people.
I'm not saying he's not one of those people.
Oh, no, he's not one of those people.
He's being responsible, staying home.
He's not one of those people.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
But you know what I'm talking about.
There's certain people where you're like, shit, they must be on their deathbed.
You know?
When growing up, my mum's a nurse.
Yeah.
And you'd think nurses would generally be way more caring in a situation.
I date a nurse and I can tell you it's the opposite.
The complete opposite.
They're desensitised.
They're desensitised from being around unwell people.
Genuinely sick people.
Like really people.
Yeah, really unwell people.
So if you've got a cold
they're like suck it up buttercup that's exactly what my mum was like there's no sympathy for us
as sick children taking a sick day off school nah it wasn't a thing you're like mum i've got
a broken arm she's like suck it up you'll be fine get out there um yeah sick days from school
did you ever do any of those like um hacks like where you
got the hair dryer and you used to like make the thermometer real hot with the hair dryer no yeah
one time because i saw it on a movie once and i got the hair dryer and it really um was that ferris
bueller's day off might have been because yeah that whole movie was about him trying to trick
his parents into thinking he was sick. Could have been, yeah.
And I remember I heated up this thermometer and my mum's like,
the thermometer's like 40-something degrees.
You'd be dead.
Like, what have you done to it?
And I was like, no, I'm real sick.
I'm just really, really sick.
Because I think, like, if your temperature goes above, is it 30, like 38?
Probably around there, yeah.
Like, 38's like real bad.
It was a good time back in the day, like staying home from school
and just getting to watch daytime television,
like Sally, Jessie, Raphael and stuff, Ricky Lake.
Oh, go Ricky.
Go Ricky.
What's Ricky Lake doing these days?
But then sometimes daytime TV is such a freaking punish freaking punish well often it's just infomercials
yeah although then you get hooked you'd get hooked up into those i need to i need to buy this you'd
be like a 14 year old being like i need this kitchen appliance how much better would it be
these days to be sick and you can just watch netflix or disney the kids these days they don't
know how good they've got it yeah we only had a couple of channels and if it wasn't good shit on it,
you just.
We did it tough, man.
We did it real tough.
I mean.
Poor us.
Shit, poor us.
Oh, my God.
Nothing better than a sick day, though.
I used to do the thing where you would, like,
plant the seed the night before.
Plant the seed is good.
It's a little scratchy. And then the morning of, you're like, the seed the night before. Plant the seed is good.
Oh, my throat's a little scratchy.
And then the morning of you're like, I'm really sick.
And then as soon as you get the all clear, you like act normal again.
You forget that you're supposed to be sick.
You forget about it.
You'll always be like, I thought you were sick.
And I'm like, oh, no, I am.
I just feel a little better.
Did you guys have chicken pox as kids?
Yeah.
I don't really remember it though.
Were you like really young?
I must have been quite young.
It's not a distinct memory for me.
I remember sitting in a bathtub because I must have been quite young, too.
Me and my sister, because we both had chicken pox,
and sitting in this bathtub with this, like, stuff in it,
trying to ease the itch from our chicken pox because we got chicken pox.
Like, I've got scars all over me from it. Like, I've got one my eye you know because like if you scratch them they can scar do you know there's
like a vaccine for chicken pox now the kids don't get chicken pox the way we got them yeah it's like
way it's like not even the same it's like way less yeah because of the vaccine yeah that's so cool
isn't that's a great vaccine because vaccine. Because it can kill kids.
Yeah.
It's even worse if you get it.
Worse for an adult.
Yeah, why is it so much worse if you get it as an adult?
There must be something in a kid's immunity that makes them get over it.
I don't know.
Yeah.
I'm not a scientist, Bree.
Well, can you be a scientist?
Because I have these questions.
What job would you be doing if you weren't in media?
Teacher.
You'd be a teacher?
I always wanted to be a teacher, like a primary school teacher.
You'd be a fun teacher.
You'd be a great teacher.
I would have loved to have been a teacher.
I love kids.
Yeah, PE.
Now, what subjects would you teach?
If it was high school, it would be English, maybe drama.
Yeah, I could see you teaching both of those.
But I think I would like to be a primary school teacher,
like older years of primary school.
Yeah.
I would have loved that.
Just before they start to be little shits.
Yeah.
Like, you know, when they get to, like, teenage, like 14,
like that's where I feel like,
where do you think you are, like, the naughtiest? What age? Yeah, probably 13, 14. Like that's where I feel like, where do you think you are like the naughtiest?
What age?
Yeah, probably 13, 14.
13, 14.
When your hormones are going crazy, but you're not mature enough yet to necessarily deal
with it.
100%.
Yeah.
Girls are getting their periods, so the hormones are all over the shop.
Boys are probably, you know, just starting to hit puberty.
Their voice is starting to go a bit weird.
What age did your voice drop? probably 13 14 yeah so around that age were you a naughty
kid i look i was it i didn't get sent to boarding school i made my parents send me to boarding
school because all of my sport training was in bruce and i really wanted to do it so i
i think i realized how naughty i was once I went to boarding school.
Yeah.
Like, I was pretty naughty.
But I was, like, endearingly naughty, like, cheeky.
Not, like, real bad shit.
Yeah.
You know?
But, like, annoyingly naughty.
Yeah.
And if you ask the head boarding mistress, who I was hooking up with her son for probably like a year and a half.
Nice.
She was like she was not impressed.
Yeah.
I mean, what's changed?
Nothing.
Nothing's changed.
I reckon you were a goody two-shoes.
I was such a goody two-shoes.
Yeah, 100%.
I hated the thought of breaking the rules.
Hated it.
Front of the class.
Totally.
Goody good.
What about you, Claude?
Oh, I was a goody good.
Yeah. I'm not surprised. I was such a goody two-shoes-shoes i was like my god look how well i can sit and fold my arms
look at me i'm so good one two three eyes on me please call me and be the first one i'm already
looking yeah i'm already staring at you well ross boss pulled a prank on you today and
tried to pretend like you're in trouble and you started welling up yeah i thought i was actually
trouble shit that was funny.
It wasn't funny.
I couldn't tell that he was joking.
You guys obviously coached.
I could tell straight away.
I could definitely tell.
I was vulnerable and –
He would never come in and do something like that.
Think about it.
I've never been in trouble before and I don't know how it works.
Claudia thought she was in trouble because she spilled water on –
On a celebrity.
On a celebrity guest.
A celebrity guest.
And Ross came in and was like, what did you do to such and such?
We've heard from his manager and he's not happy.
And then Claudia started to tear up and then Ross is like, just kidding.
All right.
Well, enjoy the podcast.
There's some really funny bits in there today,
like the part where I tell one of my best friends
that I've been lying to them for four weeks.
It was a good lie, but it was good that you came clean.
Thank you, Maddie.
Did you feel better now?
Bloody goody two shoes.
