For a few years in the 1970s, the Mr. Asia syndicate made millions.
Heroin creates its own market. It acts like a form of plague.
Until jealousy, betrayal and murder brought it all crashing down.
Clark would have threatened him. Go and kill him. If you don't, I'm going to kill you and your wife and your son.
This is Mr. Asia, A Forgotten History. All episodes now available on iHeartRadio, Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
The ZM Podcast Network.
Hi everybody, welcome to the After Party. I have been running some calculations.
On what?
In the last 15 minutes.
Yeah?
Yeah. Yeah. I have used a basic formula and I've used conservative numbers to estimate how many shows, radio shows,
four-hour radio shows you and I have done together over the last six years.
What made you do that?
Just the long and winding road of life.
We're both quite tired at the moment.
We're kind of at the end of our tether
and waiting for a holiday.
You just got back from holiday.
You just had bloody four weeks off.
Anyway, tomorrow is our last day
and we're hanging out for a break.
Not that we don't love our job
and know how lucky we are to have a job like this.
Doesn't mean you don't get it.
Of course, of course.
And I think you need to,
it is really important to listen
to when you feel like that and to have a break because or else you go down the minty bee path.
I have calculated this number based on us being on air together 45 weeks a year.
Okay.
Which I think we, on average, are on air more than that.
But that allows for things like Celebrity Treasure Island. Christmas. Okay. Which I think we on average are on more than that but that allows for things
like Celebrity Treasure Island and
Christmas. Christmas.
Pestil things. Holidays.
Holidays give or take. So 45 weeks a year
five days a week
45 days a week
45 weeks a year. Okay. And over
six years which we've just clocked up six
years. Oh gosh.
You and I have done 1,350
radio shows together.
Holy far out.
How many? 1,350.
Yeah, right. Are you underwhelmed?
Are you underwhelmed? Maybe.
Nah, thousands a lot, eh?
Thousands a lot.
Thousands a lot. Did we celebrate
our thousandth show? I feel like
producer Ben was here and we did.
Nah, he wouldn't have been here for the thousand.
Wouldn't have been here?
Oh, that's our fault.
It's 5,000.
I wasn't here from the start.
I don't know.
I don't know.
It's 5,400 hours of radio.
Holy shit.
Oh, mate.
God, and I reckon about at least 1,000 of those hours were decent.
Yeah.
I reckon that's about right.
Generous.
I reckon maybe even 1,500.
I scared you.
Sorry, I wasn't there from the beginning.
It is.
If this radio show ran around the clock, like if we never stopped,
it's 225 non-stop days of radio oh mate if you're like imagine because i love
i love people in the podcast group when there's new people and they're like oh i'm listening from
the start i've just come on board i'm listening from the start and then they're almost living in
the past like going through COVID.
I'm having babies.
Yeah, certain events.
You're having babies.
Stuff like that.
It's so bizarre to me.
But it's also cool.
There's some people in the group, some of you listening right now,
that also go back to the start.
Yeah.
Obviously, if you want to do that, it won't take you 225 days because we cut out the music and the ads.
True.
Yeah, true.
So you'd get it done much faster than 225 days nonstop.
Yeah.
But yeah.
Crazy, eh?
Crazy how consistency adds up.
Like when you do something consistently over and over and over,
eventually it all mounts up.
I think consistency is something you can be proud of.
Absolutely.
There's a lot of non-consistency in this world
These days
There's some more eloquent way of saying it
That consistency is better than
Like
It's like people who decide they want to get fit
And so they decide to go to the gym five days a week
Which is
In actual fact you should go three days a week
Consistently
Rather than five days a week for three weeks
And then you burn out and you get over it.
Yeah, totally.
You know?
Yeah, consistency is key.
If they say, though, that it takes 10,000 hours to, you know,
they say top athletes, people at the top of their game,
10,000 hours is what it takes to get to that level.
Really?
We're only halfway there.
Hold on.
We're only halfway there.
We're only halfway.
Shit, we're only halfway there? We're only halfway. Shit, we're only halfway there?
We're at 5,400 hours.
Are you fucking joking?
Yeah.
It just goes to show how much time it takes.
Yeah, like Tiger Woods.
You know?
Yeah, yeah.
Here's a quote about consistency.
You guys want to hear it?
Mm-hmm.
Success isn't always about greatness.
It's about consistency.
Consistent hard work leads to success.
Greatness will come.
So we're not great.
We're consistent.
The most consistent show on radio.
Here's another one.
Here's another one.
Consistency is what transforms average into excellence.
Eventually.
Eventually.
Eventually.
You want one more?
Yeah.
Hit me.
Small disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great
achievements gained slowly over time.
What?
Look at that tattooed on my back.
How long have you been here, Claudia?
Two years and one month.
Same.
Two years and one month.
I'm the same.
So let's figure out how many hours you've spent listening to us
Too many
I listen during the day as well
I want to know how many shows we've done
Have we done a thousand?
No
No I don't think so
We need to do one more year
Yeah
Yeah problems
Yep
You've spent about
You've spent almost two000 hours listening to us.
Oh, shit.
What's happening in the, what is happening in the old Bree and Clint podcast group at the moment?
People are saying, there's one you'll see, it says, you're correct, Claudia and Clint,
about the roast orders that we put together yesterday.
I disagree.
You can't buy crackling.
You can buy those weird pork crackle things in a packet
that isn't pork crackling.
Can I ask, what is the pork crackling?
You don't want to know.
Crispy skin.
It's the skin.
It's the skin that bubbles up.
It's vegan nightmare.
And then you put salt on it.
This one time my family bought bacon and I looked at it
and you know how it's basically just the same piece of skin just like chopped into little pieces.
There was a nipple.
I have seen that before.
It made me feel very sick.
I haven't had bacon since 2005.
Yeah, that made me feel sick too.
Matthew Adams said, please say there will be a video of Brie roasting Clint on his yucks.
Absolutely.
I love it when she messes with him.
No, I veto that video. No, I think that she messes with him. No, I veto that video.
No, I think that's coming out.
No, I veto that video.
No, why?
No.
I've already answered it.
Those things that you brought up, I told you in confidence.
You told us on the radio.
I didn't tell you on the radio.
You did.
You definitely did.
Are you joking?
Yeah. It was on the radio. You didn't tell me that the radio. You did. You definitely did. Are you joking? Yeah.
It was on the radio.
You didn't tell me that in private.
I did.
Oh, is it not there?
You can't remember now.
Clint, it's happening.
Oh, I want to see the video before it goes anywhere.
Okay, you can watch it after this.
Don't deny Matthew Adams this joy.
No.
You're not making a fucking video to go on the internet forever about me trimming my pubes into a towel. Why not? That's hilarious. No. You're not making a fucking video to go on the internet forever about me trimming my pubes into a towel.
Why not?
That's hilarious.
No.
You signed up for that.
Is it true?
Is it true?
22nd of March, 2023, you said it on the radio.
There we go.
Sucker.
I don't care.
I don't care.
I have children.
Sucker.
How many vetoes do you get per year?
I don't care.
You're not vetoing it.
No. I can't. Okay, let's take a vote. Let's take a vote. How many videos do you get per year? You're not videoing it.
Let's take a vote.
Let's take a vote.
Who votes that this video be posted?
Of course you do.
What?
Oh, really?
What?
I showed you it.
It is very funny.
I will watch it.
I'll watch it.
I cannot believe you're doing this to me.
I'll watch it. Ella's putting in all this work.
I've also done a really funny podcast group. this work okay wait i've got an idea are you laughing with me or at me oh absolutely with you unless it's behind your back the focus is more brie
um no the video is funny because it's just some you know when your friend just keeps talking and
talking and talking and talking it's kind of like. What if we censor all of the key words?
I could do that.
Oh, but that doesn't make it as fun, does it?
And towel.
Anyway, it's getting too much of your time now.
Okay.
I'll just park it, all right?
All right.
And the towel wasn't getting enough.
Too much, I think.
