Starting point is 00:00:00 For a few years, in the 1970s, the Mr Asia syndicate made millions. Heroin creates its own market. It acts like a form of play. Until jealousy, betrayal and murder brought it all crashing down. Then he just pulled out a gun, shot her in the back of the head, and then said to Wayne, you're going to help me bury her. This is Mr Asia, A Forgotten History. All episodes now available on iHeartRadio, Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:30 The ZM Podcast Network. I think I am ready. Hey, is this the after party? Sure is. Bring any beers? Cheers. It's Brian Clint's After Party. Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Brie and Clint After Party,
Starting point is 00:00:51 where Clint has just upped and left. Yeah, he said he'd had enough. Yeah, he goes, I've had enough. You guys can do it. So we've got someone way better. Please welcome to the After Party, night show host, Bron. Bron Waisley. It's great.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Should I fully just act like Clint the whole time yeah oh I want to see it should I try hone my Clint yeah okay wait hone your what
Starting point is 00:01:10 no I know where that is I don't need to hone that I don't need to hone that I've got a location on that good afternoon everyone is that how he starts the show every time yeah no it's pretty loud
Starting point is 00:01:20 he's very loud I'm not going to let you talk I'm going to oh there we go that's good I'm not going to he's talk. Oh, there we go. That's good. He's throwing shade. He loves to just like, Clint's favorite thing, he'll just be like, you know, chilling.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Everyone's quiet. Yeah! Woo! Like, and just scream. It's in Claudia's ears. I always have my headphones on and he does it right down the microphone Which goes right into my ears So it's just like oh my god That has something to it, that has legs to it Isn't that a trait of something?
Starting point is 00:01:52 Is it now? Because I sometimes get like meow Oh I love a meow Yeah same Oh really? That can be like a little tick Yeah I think it almost is I just think he likes being loud Genuinely Yeah, that can be like a little tick. Yeah, I think it almost is. Or just like a...
Starting point is 00:02:05 I just think he likes being loud. Outburst. Outburst. Loves an outburst. I'm really... My eyes are just being drawn to something on the wall that says Bee Gees. Oh. Should we see what that is?
Starting point is 00:02:18 Yeah, let's find out. Okay, let's have a look. Here we go. A song? What is this? What is this? I believe that was... Hold on.
Starting point is 00:02:38 I believe that is Clint's Bee Gees, Friday Oaky. When was that? I don't remember that at all. You don't remember that? Or was this recently when I was away? Or is this a long time ago? Must have been a long time ago. And hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Let's see what I've got here. Oh, get the breath in. Get low on the people on the dance floor. Oh, I like that. Oh, horrendous. Bee Gees are from Aussie, eh? Technically, yes. Maurice?
Starting point is 00:03:10 Maurice and Barry and, yeah, the old guy. Who was the other one? Barry's the only one left. Oh, real? Yeah, I think so. Like alive or in the band? Like Brendan Urie in Panic at the Disco? No, the only one alive.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Yeah. They grew up in Redcliffe. Yeah. In Queensland. In Australia. Yeah, there's a... I have no idea. There's a highway called Bee Gees Way.
Starting point is 00:03:38 That's cool. Yeah. In honour of them. In honour of them. Yeah, exactly. Ella, do you know who the Bee Gees are? Yeah, I've heard them. I've heard this song.
Starting point is 00:03:44 I wouldn't know much about them. Tragedy.. Do you know who the Bee Gees are? Yeah, I've heard them. I've heard this song. I wouldn't know much about them. Tragedy. They've written the most hits. Because they wrote for Whitney. Really? They're behind the scenes. One of the three brothers is really talented. And he's written heaps of songs.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Incredible songwriters. They essentially kind of started the disco era in a way. In Aussie, do you reckon? Because you know how they're so, I feel like us in Aussie are so far away from the rest of the world that if someone starts something over in Aussie or New Zealand, it's kind of a bit premature for us
Starting point is 00:04:14 because we normally take about five years to get something after. Crocs were cool five years ago and then now New Zealand's like, yeah. Crocs are cool. We're like, no, we like them as well. We've been here all along yeah yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:04:26 um yeah I feel like they because I feel like their parents are originally from the UK oh but they grew up for like a lot
Starting point is 00:04:35 of their childhood but don't yeah I'm pretty sure um yeah Buzzy G yeah that girl from Aussie
Starting point is 00:04:42 that's like a lot of things when you don't know where an artist from always just assume they're from America, but then sometimes they're from this little niche place. I always get shocked when someone's from Canada. I love Canada, but I just forget. No one's from there.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Ryan Reynolds, Justin Bieber. There's so many people from Canada, and I just don't think about it. And I'm like, oh my gosh. Shania Twain from Canada. Oh, really? Sandra Bullock from there, or did I make that up? Nah, I feel like that's from the movie The Proposal where she plays.
Starting point is 00:05:06 That is one of my favourite go-to movies. I love it. I went and saw, speaking of Ryan Gosling and – Oh, Deadpool? Not Ryan Gosling. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. I went and saw Deadpool versus Wolverine. Has anyone seen it?
Starting point is 00:05:22 Sandra Bullock's not in that though, is she? No. Yeah, I was like, what? But he mentions The Prop the proposal in the film. No! I love those little teasers. I don't like when he breaks the fourth wall and he's like, oh there's 365 bones in the body
Starting point is 00:05:35 unless I'm watching Gossip Girl. I love it! I don't. I'm like, just do the merch. Just act. I know that he's like the only Stop trying to be fancy and you dance for me. Just do the thing. He's like one of the only characters who can break the fourth wall, him and She-Hulk.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Oh, yeah. I hated She-Hulk. Which I hated that I hate She-Hulk because I feel like a bad feminist. Who's name? Who played She-Hulk? No idea, but Megan Thee Stallion was twerking. She's from that show where there's like multiples of her. I can't remember.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Orphan Black or something like that. Oh, she's an amazing. She's incredible. Amazing actor there's like multiples of her. I can't remember. Orphan Black or something like that. Oh, she's an amazing, amazing actor. And then it was just not good. I really had high hopes. Yeah, Marvel's. Oh, no. Now it's coming back to me. Yes, I have seen bits and pieces.
Starting point is 00:06:16 And yeah, well, they're rich. Yeah, yeah. The twerking of Megan Stallion. They're doing so well. Marvel. Oh, yeah. They're just too hard, too fast. I've stopped watching completely.
Starting point is 00:06:24 It got confusing. I loved it. It's a multiverse. It'll come back. It's a mult well. Marvel. Oh, yeah. They're just too hard, too fast. I've stopped watching completely. It got confusing. I loved it. After Multiverse. It'll come back. Yeah. It got too confusing for, like, you know, I like it, but I'm not a super diehard fan. So, like, it got too confusing, I think, for, like, my demo of.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Watches. Watches. You can't really be on the fence. You either have to be balls deep or It's like you needed to get like a murder map out of like this is connected
Starting point is 00:06:50 to this and this and yeah like the strings. It's like the Kardashians with the family sometimes. Oh my gosh. So Kim used to date and then Ray J and then that's the movie.
Starting point is 00:06:58 There's kids to this person. Oh Ray J. Yeah Ray J. That was the He was holding the camera. He was holding the camera apparently. Oh. Ray J. Yeah. the sex joke. He was holding the camera. He was holding the camera apparently. Oh.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Ray J. Yeah. And then she, remember Reggie Bush? Yes. She dated Reggie. Yeah. Who was she married to? He was a good looking fella.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Oh, what's the guy that he met? Chris Humphries. For like 40 days. Yeah, him. Chris Humphries. He was enormous. Can you imagine marrying someone with the same name as your mum? What do you mean? Chris Humphries. Or siblings. same name as your mum? Wouldn't that be weird?
Starting point is 00:07:25 Chris. Or siblings. Oh, yeah, strange. Wouldn't that be weird? Or your siblings as well. Or dating someone. I saw that, I don't know if it was like Ralph Lauren or someone, his wife or his, I don't know, someone married into the family
Starting point is 00:07:37 and her name's Lauren. So she's now Lauren Lauren. Lauren Lauren. Yeah. Or Taylor Lautner. Isn't he? Yes. Taylor.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Taylor. Oh, yeah. He used to date Taylor. I love that. They're both Taylor Lautner. So cute. I used to go to school with, and this is back home in Stanthorpe, and these two kids. We were like year nine, so we were young.
Starting point is 00:07:58 And these two kids in our grade, this girl and this boy, started dating. And I remember being like, i said to someone in our grade i was like uh don't they have the same last name so they had the same last name right and it wasn't like smith yeah it was but it wasn't like you know it was more slightly more unusual yeah slightly more unusual and i was kind of like are they are they really has anyone done ancestor.com on these guys anyway so like people started asking the question and like went around our grade and then eventually like they were denying it they were like no no no we're not
Starting point is 00:08:35 we're not we're not and then like a week later they'd broken up because i think they found out that they were like third cousins oh well you would check that wouldn't well we're from a small country town even if it's legal i feel like you'd be like the odds are pretty high yeah yeah no no i do remember when i was like oh gosh you dated your cousin no i just thought i like grew up a little bit like you know when you're a teenager did you have a crush on your cousin i think so no he just i did i never saw him and then it come to christmas and he was like way older, glow up. First or second? First.
Starting point is 00:09:09 First cousin! I just saw he was cute. Yeah, cousin glow up. Yeah, it was a cousin glow up. Especially from a divorced family because if you miss a year, if they go with the father's side for one year and then you catch them in the next year, you're like, whoa. And they grew pubes in that year?
Starting point is 00:09:20 What? They went through puberty. Sorry, yeah. I'm sure they went through puberty. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm sure they... Same thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's the same thing, isn't it? And you just, like, end up, like, low-key romantically playing, like, Pass the Parcel or whatever with that cousin.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Hey, can I just... Okay, we never did that. Can I just go on the record and say, oh, I never had a crush on my cousin? I did have a crush. I just thought he was, like, nice. That was it. I was just like, he's nice.
Starting point is 00:09:41 You had a crush. No, I didn't. I wasn't in the corner, like, hey. How much older was he? Oh, he's probably, like, he's nice. You had a crush. No, I didn't. I wasn't in the corner like, hey. How much older was he? Oh, he's probably like 30 something. 30? So like seven years older? Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:09:52 He wasn't 30 when you were young. No, shit, no. Okay, I was early teens, he was late teens. Like that. That's why I wish I had an older brother because then just like older guys around. Oh, that's what Charlie wants. My sister. She wants to find, she wants mom to find a nice man who has a nice son who has hot friends. Is that legal to date your mom's partner's kid?
Starting point is 00:10:15 I guess your step bro. It's not legal to date your step bro. It's not legal to date your step brother. Yeah, it's legal. I mean, yeah, it's legal. Yeah. Because it's not blood. A bit odd.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Frowned upon. But not legal. Is that the movie Clueless? No, I don't. Can mean, yeah, it's legal. Of course it is, yeah. Because it's not blood. A bit odd. Frowned upon, but not legal. Is that the movie Clueless? No, I don't. Can I argue? I don't. I'm standing up for it like I've done it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't think it's frowned upon.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Let's say your mum and their dad got together and you were both super young, right? Oh, that's weird. And then you grew up together in the same house. Yeah, nah. That's a's weird. And then you grew up together in the same house. Yeah, nah. That's a bit weird. But if your mum gets together with a guy and he's got a son that's like 27 and you're 27 and you get together, that's not frowned upon in my eyes. That's just a complete stranger.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Yeah, whatever. It is, but it's also eating with your shit because like. Yeah, but you're never going to live together. What do you mean? Like in the same family house. No. No, but I remember a family member who it was so awkward at the wedding because there was –
Starting point is 00:11:12 Oh, no. Yeah, and I was like, oh, so who's the mother of the bride, that lady? Or the auntie of the groom, that same lady. I was like, how does that work? And then that's how I found out. That was over in Australia as well. Tricky. Sounds about right. Was it in Bila Wila? Yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Yeah, sounds about right. What kind of places are in Aussie? Hey, hey. Don't be racist. I'm not being racist. It'd be like someone coming to New Zealand and saying, hey, there's a place called Whakapapa. What? No.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Oh, my God. You know? No. I just feel like there's some funny places. Bilaweela. Bilaweela. Yes. It's just when you say it with an Australian accent as well. It's like Bilaweela.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Bilaweela. Yeah. Wollongong. Dubbo. I love that. Noosa. Noosa. Noosa.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Maroochydore. Ryan was giving, oh, was it you? Ryan giving me a big tour of the map of Aussie. Learning the world. Babe, I'll take you on a tour of the map. Yarrabilba. Really romantic. I'll take you to Yarrabilba.
Starting point is 00:12:13 So is this all Aboriginal names? Yes. Oh, see, that makes sense now. Then we can go have a look at Wollongarra. Wollongarra. Yeah, it's all Aboriginal names. I didn't know that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:21 That makes a lot of sense. Same as like New Zealand. Yeah, we have that in New Zealand. Yeah. Huh. But it seems like less of a fuss. Like. That makes a lot of sense. Same as like in New Zealand. Yeah, we have that in New Zealand. Yeah. Huh. But it seems like less of a fuss. Like it doesn't, Aussies over there like being like, oh, let's bloody well change it back.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Yeah, are they? No. Yeah. I feel like I can, not in my lifetime have I ever recalled that it was called something else. Yeah. You know? Except for Uluru, which its other white person name is
Starting point is 00:12:48 airs rock oh yeah but it's now been changed where people are like it's ularu and then you know you can say ularu or airs rock right right yeah i do the subtle thing when people like taupo no taupo i'm like oh you mean taupo yeah oh sorry like, oh, you mean Taupo. Yeah. Oh, sorry, I didn't understand. You mean Taupo. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where? Yeah, just go where?
Starting point is 00:13:10 Yeah, where? Taupo. Never heard of it. Where? I hate the Tauranga. I can't even say it. Tauranga. Oh, it kills me.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Tauranga. It kills me. Tauranga. Tauranga. Stop. All right, guys, we're off to Tauranga. Get in the cab. Get in the cab.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Thank you. Tauranga. Yeah. Yeah. Get in the cab. Thank you. Tauranga. So much nicer too. It is. It feels nicer to say. I remember seeing this post and it was like, oh, you can't say the na in Ngaruahia, but you can say there's like a champagne name.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Yes. What is that? Oh my gosh, I know. Yeah, there was like other words that have the exact same na. Oh, but they could say it. Yeah, they say it with yeah they say it was like a wine and there's a wine or something blanc yeah blanc oh no some g matt leblanc yeah you can say matt leblanc has matt leblanc bought out a leblanc oh he should have done that. God, surely he's done that. Surely. I'll get on the blower.
Starting point is 00:14:06 I'll tell him. Would it be Savignon LeBlanc? Savignon LeBlanc. Savignon Matt LeBlanc. Savignon LeBlanc. Savignon Matt LeBlanc. There's a marketing thing in there. I mean, we've come up with it.
Starting point is 00:14:19 For all the people that have done general alcoholic stuff. We'll only take 30%, Matt, if you're listening. And the slogan, how you tasting? That's good. How you tasting? How you tasting? I'll be there for you. I'll be there for you.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Thank you. Thank you. And on that note, I think that we might wrap it up. Well done, guys. We covered a lot of subjects there. We've grown a lot. Let's see if I can get this right here we go oh bring them back the old school i can't hear anything oh that's brie's dad's answering
Starting point is 00:14:51 machine oh how come you can't hear it have you played it out loud or is it yeah i heard it did you hear it yeah oh do you want to turn the fader up maybe i did but is it that one?
