So nice to be here
Welcome to a less successful
Afterparty podcast than your own
What? I love an after party
Do you?
It's good eh
I prefer an after party to a party
A kick-on is what the kids call it now
Me too to be honest
Yeah I just love it
I hardly go to any kick-ons anymore
It sucks
Yeah, you get to that age.
A lot of kick-ons suck, and the problem is you're risking it.
You know, you're investing in what could be great.
Yeah.
But if you use your fund tokens at a kick-on that sucks.
Oh, yeah.
This happened to me a few months ago.
It was the shittest kick-on I've ever been to.
Just three guys standing around a Ui boom.
It was literally these, it was these two guys.
They'd set up their D-Shake gear.
Oh, fuck, no.
And they had lights, they had all the gear, and it was them two taking in turns.
They were double teaming.
the DJ deck.
Well, as long as that was, that was not a good idea.
And then literally me and my two other mates and then no one else.
Oh, no, that's no good.
But, I mean, an impromptu kick on.
Like, I like a, you know, back in the day, I remember all the best nights out were ones
where you were not meant to be going out for some particular reason.
Because there's no expectation.
No expectation.
That's why New Year's is shit.
Yeah, exactly.
And then you find yourself at some party and then you find yourself somewhere else.
And back in the days, and I'm older than you guys, so you will have no memory of this.
before cell phones you used to go out
and you didn't know where the hell you were going to go
and you'd end up losing everybody every night
and then you'd end up at summer randoms house
yeah be back at these random places
you'd never meet them, never see them again
such a simpler time
it was bloody these days everyone's got about 15 people
in their friends list on Facebook or Instagram
from that one night and you've never interacted with them ever again
but they're there and you see their story every now
and then you're like oh I had a bender with that person once
We don't have
We don't have long with you
So I need to bring this up with you
I got a DM in my group chat
With some of my friends today
And it said Clint
Jeremy Wells lobbed a grenade at you
In his podcast today
Yes I did
What's happened
Well I don't think I lobbed a grenade
I made an observation
The conversation was around
Generic radio presenters
And whether we're made in a lab
Whether we're all the same
Oh I thought it was going to be the same
Like things that we've thought about you
No no
But that's for another time
time.
Oh, that sounds interesting.
What do you guys talk about on the Taskmaster?
Jeremy said that I sound the same as someone else, another radio presenter.
Am I meant to guess now?
You can guess it, yeah.
You sound the same. And I'll tell you how I know.
Okay.
Because they have done a show before together.
Right.
And it's not someone who you'd think, because they do not look alike.
Is it Sharon Casey?
Joe Cotton
Haven't you worked with
I mean he gets around
I'm telling you
I made him take a test
before we started working together
Um who
You've worked with them before
Put her out of her misery
Manny McLean
Oh
You think I sound like Manny McLean
It's subtle
You know what
When they're hanging out together
Because they always go off
With their little fancy coffee
before the show.
To be honest,
I can hear it.
It's quite out of it.
But I,
because sometimes when you were away,
because I listen to your show
in the afternoon,
I'm away.
Oh, love it.
We'll take that.
I only generally get Trady versus Lady.
That's the only good bit.
Yeah.
Because I'm not in the car for very long.
But I, when you're away,
and Maddie used to come in and do the show sometimes,
I was like, wow, those two guys sound similar.
They are, they, they.
You know what's crazy too is,
we have always said we think Clint
there's a power bottom
so they have more in common
I was about to say I'm surely I got more of a masculine
edge than Maddie don't I
I think Maddie McLean might have it
I don't think you're not
I think I would put you as right down the middle
I don't think you're masculine or feminine
I think that's your charm
okay and weird as Maddie for
I think you're something for the mum
something for the dad
something for everyone
Medi's very much something for the dead
they're worse people you could have
compared me to, I'm not offended.
I'm not.
It's a good place to be.
That's a great compliment.
Yeah, yeah.
You know.
Yeah.
How do you not want to sound like just before we?
I mean, there's a few voices I can think of that are a bit annoying.
Yeah, yeah.
But Maddie McClayne's not one of them.
He's one of the great broadcasters in this country.
I mean, you got your voice right.
Mama die is just coming straight through you.
It is like, she's like a freight train through the middle of your voice box.
Another power bottom
Yeah, that's right
Fun fact
I thought Big Steve was
Yeah
I mean I wouldn't be surprised
I'll let you go
But
Insightful
Wow we've covered some
Haven't we?
We have traversing territory
Jeremy Wells
Great to see you
Thank you very much
