You tapped it, so we're playing it.
It's ZM's Brian Clint, the podcast.
Brooks filling in.
Ladies and gentlemen, Brian Clint's Fridayoke.
For lots of random reasons, this is the first Fridayoke in ages.
Oh.
Yeah.
We didn't get to do one while Caitlin was filling in.
So yeah, this is the return of Friday Oaky.
Brooks doing her first ever Friday Oki, which if you've never heard,
We each go into the booth with our professional audio engineer.
We cover a song that we, and we both do the same song,
and then you guys hear the outcome of that
and decide who did the better version for Friday OK.
I'm sure this is well talked about,
but I actually didn't realize,
because when I went in, I was like,
oh, you'll be able to touch that up with auto tune.
Yeah.
You don't use auto tune.
We have.
Oh, you have?
We have in the past.
I believe in our engineer's new studio,
he has yet to have the auto tune.
Oh great, what a great week for me to start.
The one week he loses his auto tune.
Phenomenal.
So just know that this is as authentic as it gets.
Yeah, it's raw and real.
Announced this week, there are some stars of High School Musical
coming to Auckland for the Armageddon Expo.
So Brooke chose High School Musical.
A certified banger.
I'm surprised you hadn't done.
You haven't touched High School Musical at all.
No, not at all.
Weird.
So here's the deal.
You know the deal.
You're going to hear one, you're going to hear the other.
And after that will be the last.
looking for five people to pick the winner of Friday Oki on 0800 Dalai.
You can text us any feedback you have good or bad.
We love to get it.
And Brooke, because you chose the song, you get to go first.
What an absolute pleasure that is.
Wow.
Best of luck.
Here's Brooke's High School Musical.
We're soaring, flying.
There's not a star in heaven that we can't reach.
if we're trying
So we're breaking free
You know the world can see
That's different than
To we're separate hearts
Strength to believe
We're breaking free
Very good
You're getting claps from the producers
You're getting a round of applause
I didn't realize I had this many muscles in my face
Everything made my jaws
My jaws locked out my eye eyebrows and so
That was so confronting for so many reasons
I was trying.
I felt like flashbacks to like theater kid vibes.
It is hard because you do have to try.
That's the rule of Friday.
Okay, you have to take it seriously.
And sometimes hearing yourself actually try as the worst bit.
But I thought you did a good job.
Ella, what did you think?
I thought fantastic, Brookie.
Yeah.
Nailed it.
You have to say that.
Yeah, true.
Linda doesn't.
Linda says I sound like I'm pinching my nose at some points.
Oh yeah, yeah.
That comes through too.
Claudia, you're the high school musical aficionado.
Thank you.
What did you think?
Very good.
I think all things consider.
you know, the time and place where we are
and what you're doing, it could have been a lot worse.
What does that mean?
Also, Brooke, the bit you're forgetting is
it doesn't have to be good,
it just has to be better than mine.
That's it.
True.
Okay?
Now, I'll put a disclaimer on this.
Mine is less of a duet
and more of just a full Troy Bolton.
Okay, I just...
Oh, well, I played to the rules
that we had to play both characters
of Troy and Gabrielle.
Well, I don't have a Gabrielle in me.
Everyone's got a bit of Gabriel on them, darling.
But I may have a bit of Zabriel.
Thank you for one and me. Wait.
Here's my high school musical.
Enjoy.
We're soaring, flying,
there's not a star in heaven that we can reach
if we're trying,
so we're breaking free.
We can see different from who we are creating space
between us,
till we're separate heart.
The chorus, dude.
See what I mean?
See what I mean?
That was a duet.
That was Troy and Gollum.
What are you talking about?
It was a real game of two harbbs, that one for me.
Like, I quite enjoyed doing the front bit,
and then when I got to the chorus, I was like, oh, please.
Please, when can this be over?
Oh, my God.
Troy eventually becomes Gabriel in the chorus.
Like, he goes, this is Yarn Zaki Pond.
He goes.
This is old Clint Roberts.
Someone said, I thought there was no way that Brooke could win.
And then I heard Clint.
Bree's back next week, right?
Checks on 9-6-96.
Yeah, she is, just confirming.
Which way is it going to go?
Only the phone calls can decide that.
So we want five people brave enough to call through and cast a vote in this week's Fridayoke.
That is Franklin.
Time for a Friday oaky result.
High school musical week.
Brooke chose it.
We did it.
Brooke sounded like this.
We're breaking free.
We're still.
Mine's done like this.
We're breaking free.
Someone texted and said Clint was totally winning this for me
until his ass fell out in the chorus.
Is that what happened in the chorus?
That's a technical term.
Oh, is it?
It's like a singing term.
Yeah, yeah.
A good one?
I assume.
Like break a leg, his ass fell out.
Yeah, yeah.
Drop an ass out, I guess.
Five votes on the line.
Ready to pick the winner of Fridayoki.
Amber's here.
Hi, Amber.
You're to Amber.
Happy Friday.
Happy Friday.
How are you?
We're good.
You're a high school musical fan, Amber?
I love high school musical, and I got really excited by this whole Friday karaoke.
Yay!
This is my fan.
You're personally invested.
Who do you think did the better Fridayoke?
I hate to say, but I'm giving it to Brooke.
Wait, what do you hate to say that?
It's the better of the two.
I don't hate to say it because I feel bad saying it because I feel bad for Clint, but I give it to Brooke.
It's okay.
It's okay, Amber.
I could still win.
I could still win.
We are all in this together.
We're all in this together. Really is what we need to remember.
Let's go to Heidi on 0800 dials at him.
Hi, Heidi.
Hi.
Have you seen high school musical Heidi?
Yeah, most definitely.
Okay.
So you know the song.
Who do you think did it better today?
You can.
Yeah, Heidi.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
One apiece.
They're doing air checks at schools?
Let's go to Aurora.
Hi, Aurora.
Hi.
Hi.
Can you give us some feedback?
How do you think we went with high school musical this week?
I don't know.
I don't know what I would say.
Yeah, it's tough.
Do you know who won for you?
Just like that's the same as far.
I would say Brooke.
Aroha.
Aurora, thank you.
Aurora 2-1.
Why isn't you feel bad for voting for me?
They're like, oh, gun to my head if I have to.
She was happy about it.
It's match point for you here.
You can win it if Levi thinks you're the winner.
Hey, Levi.
How are the going?
Good.
Not bad, Levi.
What did you think?
Can you give us a bit of a breakdown, Levi?
Oh, you know, I thought I was going to be voting for you,
but that remix in the chorus, Clint, that wasn't the best.
Aw.
No.
It's better.
Yeah.
Any feedback for me personally, Levi, some work-ons.
I'm always looking to improve, personally.
I think he did terrific for your first time, Brooke.
Backhanded, but I'll take it.
Just to be certain, your vote goes to...
Brooke.
Bro.
Guys, I made it.
Not lead role.
I'm tree number two, but I'm still in the choir.
Congratulations to Brooke on her inaugural Friday Oaky victory.
There was no sympathy boat, say there, Claudia.
That was just all straight from the heart.
They weren't like, oh, I didn't pay anyone.
Oh, sweet.
I'll slip you a 20 in a second.
